Length–weight relationships (LWRs) and length–length relationships (LLRs) are presented for the first time for three Ambassid fish species from the Ganges River, northwestern (NW) Bangladesh. Fish were sampled with traditional fishing gear including cast net (mesh size ranges from 1.0 to 2.0 cm), gill net (mesh size ranges from 1.5 to 2.5 cm), square lift net (mesh size ~ 1.0 cm) and conical and box trap, October 2014 to September 2015. Allometric coefficient (b) values were 3.00 for Chanda nama, 3.10 for Parambassis lala and 3.23 for Parambassis ranga, respectively. Additionally, the LLRs were highly significant with r2 ≥ .958. The present observations would be an effective tool for their stock assessment in the Ganges River, NW Bangladesh and surrounding ecosystems.  相似文献

Length–weight relationships (LWRs) and length–length relationships (LLRs) of three ecologically important fishes (Aplocheilus panchax, Danio rerio and Esomus danrica) were reported from a wetland, northeastern Bangladesh (23 58 N, 89 38 E). Samples were collected monthly using traditional fishing gear including fine meshed (2.0 mm) push net and fine meshed (3.0–4.0 mm) surrounding net during January to December 2014. For each individual, total length (TL), fork length (FL) and standard length (SL) was measured to 0.1 cm, while body weight (BW) was measured to 0.01 g accuracy. Allometric coefficient (b) values were 3.10 for A. panchax, 3.38 for D. rerio and 3.52 for E. danrica. In addition, the LLRs were also highly significant with r2 ≥ 0.954.  相似文献

The length–weight relationships (LWRs) were studied for 814 individuals covering eight families and 12 species of fish, e.g., Botia dario, Botia lohachata, Channa orientalis, Esomus danricus, Heteropneustes fossilis, Macrognathus pancalus, Nandus nandus, Ompok pabda, Pethia phutunio, Pethia ticto, Trichogaster fasciata and Trichogaster lalius captured from the Gajner beel floodplain, northwestern (NW) Bangladesh. Samples were collected occasionally from catches of fishermen from November 2014 to October 2015 using different types of traditional fishing gear, including gill net (mesh size ranges from 1.0 to 3.0 cm), cast net (mesh size ranges from 1.0 to 2.0 cm), square lift net (mesh size ~1.0 cm) and conical and box trap. The total length (TL) and body weight (BW) were measured for each individual. The allometric co‐efficient b values ranged between 2.64 (B. lohachata) to 3.27 (N. nandus) and were highly significant, with p < .001 for all species. Additionally, for the first time, the study provides LWR information for B. dario, B. lohachata, E. danricus, O. pabda, T. lalius and P. phutunio, beneficial for fishery biologists and to update the online database (FishBase). The study also recorded a maximum length for P. phutunio. The present observations are significant for the sustainable management and conservation of these fishes in the Gajner beel floodplain, NW Bangladesh and the surrounding ecosystems.  相似文献

This study determined the length–weight relationships (LWRs) and length–length relationships (LLRs) of seven freshwater fish from the Daning River, a tributary of the Yangtze River, southwest China. Specimens were collected between July 2016 and July 2017 using drift gill nets (mesh size 1, 2 and 3 cm), cage net (0.5 cm mesh size) and electroshock fishing techniques quaterly. Parameter b values of LWRs ranged from 2.647 to 3.276 (r2 > .963) and b values of LLRs ranged from 1.091 to 1.213(r2 > .985). Six new LLRs and seven new maximum length data are presented. The biometric data and their relationships are relevant to Fishers science to supplement other data sets needed for fisheries management.  相似文献

The present study was undertaken with the objective to estimate the length‐weight Relationships (LWRs) for four species collected from the Brahmaputra River, Assam, India. The fish samples were collected quarterly from different sampling sites using gill net (mesh size ranges 1–1.5 cm, locally called Mola lungi jal), cast net (mesh size ranges 1.0–2.0 cm, locally called Kevalijal) and triangular dip nets (mesh size ranges 0.75–1.25 cm locally called khorajal) during the time period between May, 2016 to April, 2018 (2 years). The b value of the LWR ranged from 3.028 (for Parambasis lala) to 3.196 (for Psilorynchus balitora). In this study the relationship between length‐weight were highly correlated (p < 0.05).  相似文献

A total of 502 specimens were obtained during monthly samplings from July to December 2015, by fishermen using seine nets, gillnets and cast nets. Length–weight (LWRs) and length–length (LLRs) relationships were estimated for five fish species collected from the Atrai River in the northwestern region of Bangladesh. The values of slope (b) in LWRs (r2 > .913, p < .001) were determined as 2.899 for Aspidoparia jaya, 3.059 for Gagata cenia, 3.004 for Gagata youssoufi, 2.755 for Salmophasia bacaila, and 3.222 for Salmophasia phulo, respectively. The linear relationships in TL, FL and SL were highly correlated (for all cases: r2 > .897, p < .001). No previous information on LWRs (except for G. cenia) and LLRs (except for Sbacaila) of these selected species were found in FishBase.  相似文献

Length‐weight (LWRs) and length–length (LLRs) relationships are reported for three fish species belonging to two families and two genera from the Heihe River, northwest China. Fish samples were collected using trap nets (mesh size 1 cm) in May and December of 2016, and April and October 2017. Standard length (SL) and total length (TL) for each individual were measured to the nearest 0.1 cm by digital slide caliper and each body weight (BW) was measured to an accuracy of 0.1 g using digital balance. The b‐values for LWRs varied from 2.580 to 3.164 (r2 > .956). The results further indicated that the LLRs were highly correlated (r> .991; < .01). This study presents the first references on LWRs for Gymnocypris chilianensis and Triplophysa hsutschouensis, and LLRs for G. chilianensis, Triplophysa leptosoma and Thsutschouensis. This biometric data and their relationships are relevant to the management and conservation of local fishes and fisheries.  相似文献

Length‐weight relationships (LWR) were estimated for three species of fishes, namely Amblyceps arunchalensis, Nath & Dey, 1989, Botia rostrata Günther, 1868, and Esomus danrica (Hamilton, 1822) inhabiting the Ranganadi river in Lakhimpur district of Assam, India. A total of 400 specimens (A. arunchalensis – 33, B. rostrata‐ 53, and Esomus danrica – 314) were collected during irregular intervals between January 2013 and December 2015 using a cast net of 2–10 mm mesh sizes and 2–2.5 m length. The length–weight parameter b ranged from a minimum of 2.95 for E. danrica to a maximum of 3.14 for B. rostrata, with regression coefficients (r2) ranging from0.966 to .993. Prior to this study, the LWRs for B. rostrata E. danrica and A. arunchalensis were unknown. A new maximum length is reported for A. arunchalensis.  相似文献

The present study provides the estimates of length‐weight relationships (LWRs) and length‐length relationships (LLRs) of two gobiid fishes Eleotris fusca and Odontamblyopus rubicundus from the Payra River, southern Bangladesh. Fish samples were collected from the set bagnet (mesh size <2 mm) fishers of the Payra River in July 2016. Allometric coefficient (b) values were 2.95 for E. fusca and 2.76 for O. rubicundus. Additionally, the LLRs were highly significant with r2 ≥ .955. While the estimate of the LWR for O. rubicundus includes a substantial larger sample size and thus provides a more reliable LWR than the one published so far, the LWR for E. fusca must be considered as tentative because the sample includes only juveniles for a fish that reaches a maximum standard length more than three times as much. Additional studies are needed to further improve our LWR knowledge base for these fish species.  相似文献

The two LWRs, five LLRs, and two maximum lengths are presented to FishBase for the first time. This study reports the length–weight relationships (LWRs) of three Gobiidae fish species (Acentrogobius viridipunctatus, Apocryptes bato, and Odontamblyopus rubicundus) from the Rupsha River, southwestern Bangladesh. A total of 388 individuals were sampled using cast nets (mesh size ranges from 1.5 to 3.0 cm), gill nets (mesh size ranges from 2.0 to 3.0 cm) and square lift nets (mesh size ~1.5 cm) from December 2014 to November 2015. Allometric coefficient (b) values were 3.23 for A. viridipunctatus, 2.70 for A. bato, and 2.67 for O. rubicundus, respectively. The first LWRs records for these three Gobiidae species, they can be used online for FishBase as well as in future studies.  相似文献

Present study provides length–weight relationships (LWRs) and length–length relationships (LLRs) of eight fish species from river Ganga, India. Specimens were sampled from gill nets (mesh, 22–120 mm), cast nets (mesh, 12–14 mm), and seine nets (mesh, 12 mm) on quarterly basis from September 2016 to September 2017 within the river stretch from Buxar (25°33′43.90″N and 83°56′3.10″E) to Freserganj (21°35′40.58″N and 88°15′28.92″E). The b value ranged from 2.86 (Otolithoides pama) to 3.08 (Polynemus paradiseus), whereas a value ranged from 0.004 (P. paradiseus) to 0.016 (Rita rita). Both relationships (LWRs and LLRs) were found to be highly correlated (p < .001). This study provides first report on LWR for Amblyceps mangois and Osteobrama cotio, whereas new maximum length recorded for Macrognathus pancalus. Furthermore, the estimate of R. rita should be considered as tentative because of the limited size range in the study.  相似文献

Length‐weight (LWRs) and length‐length relationships (LLRs) were determined for four fish species collected from the Atari River in Dinajpur of Bangladesh. Sampling took place monthly between January and June 2016, using seine nets of commercial fishermen (mesh size 4 mm). In LWRs (r2 > .927, < .05), slope (b) was estimated as 3.191, 2.992, 3.217 and 3.109 for Acanthocobitis botia, Botia lohachata, Canthophrys gongota and Chanda nama, respectively. In LLRs (r2 > .812, < .05), lengths i.e. TL, SL, HL and FL were highly correlated. The present study on these species would be the baseline for FishBase dataset.  相似文献

This study focused on the length–weight and length–length relationships of five Mystus species from Bangladesh. A sum of 398 individuals (Mystus bleekeri = 47, Mystus cavasius = 171, Mystus gulio = 59, Mystus tengra = 65, and Mystus vittatus = 56) was collected from the Ganges and Rupsha rivers, Bangladesh. Fishes were caught by gill net (mesh sizes: 2.0–4.0 cm) and cast net (mesh sizes: 1.5–3.0 cm) from July 2014 to June 2015. Total length (TL), fork length (FL) and standard length (SL) were measured to 0.1 cm, while whole body weight (W) was taken to the nearest 0.1 g for each individual. The TL ranged from 6.0–13.5 cm for M. bleekeri, 5.0–15.0 cm for M. cavasius, 7.4–17.2 cm for M. gulio, 4.6–11.6 cm for M. tengra and 5.5–12.3 cm for M. vittatus. The W varied from 3.0–18.2 g for M. bleekeri, 1.3–30.4 g for M. cavasius, 6.1–62.2 g for M. gulio, 1.7–15.1 g for M. tengra and 2.7–19.2 g for M. vittatus. All LWRs were highly significant (p < .001), with all r2 values ≥.950. The LLRs were also highly significant (p < .001), with all r2 ≥.980. This study provides information on LWRs and LLRs for M. gulio and M. tengra for the first time. The results of this study can be very effective for stock assessment of Mystus species in the Ganges and Rupsha rivers as well as in the surrounding ecosystems.  相似文献

Specimens were captured using set gillnet (mesh size 4 cm) and backpack electro-fishing (power output 400 W, depth fished 1 m, area covered 3 m2) from June to July 2018. Length‐weight relationships (LWRs) and length‐length relationships (LLRs) for two tropical fish species from Marudu Bay, Sabah were studied. Specimens were caught with the traditional ‘Bagan net’ fishing gear from October 2012 to September 2013, using the light trap method. The maximum total length for Rhabdamia gracilis (7.4 cm) reported in this study is a new record for this species. No information regarding length‐weight relationships was reported previously in FishBase for either Secutor megalolepis or Rhabdamia gracilis.  相似文献

The study describes length‐weight relationships (LWRs) and length‐length relationships (LLRs) for two species of fishes, namely Balitora brucei Gray, 1830 and Psilorhynchus balitora (Hamilton, 1822) collected from Ranganadi river in Lakhimpur district of Assam, India for which no LWRs and LLRs are available. While sampling monthly between April 2012 and July 2016, a total of 987 specimens were collected (B. brucei = 427, and P. balitora = 560). Cast nets were used (2 ‐ 10 mm mesh sizes; 2–2.5 m length). The values of the parameter slope (b) in the LWR were determined as 3.194 (male = 3.047 and female = 3.224) for B. brucei and 3.490 (male = 3.480 and female = 3.502) for P. balitora. This study reports the length–weight relationship (LWR) and length‐length relationship (LLR) estimated for four fish species inhabiting in Chilika Lake, India. Total 504 specimens were sampled from mono‐filament gill nets (mesh size 12 mm, 22–24 mm, 34–38 mm, 42 mm) during January 2015 to December 2015. The estimated b values from LWR ranged between 2.79 (T. biaculeatus) to 3.29 (C. praeustus). In all species, the relationships between length‐weight and length‐length were highly correlated (p < .05). The study provides first world reports on LWRs and LLRs for all the 4 studied species.  相似文献

Length‐weight relationships (LWRs) are presented for three hill stream fish species belonging to the family Cyprinidae namely, Barilius barila (Hamilton, 1822), Opsarius tileo (Hamilton, 1822) and Cyprinion semiplotum (McClelland, 1839). Fishes were collected on a monthly basis from January 2016 to December 2017 with the help of cast net (270 cm length, 1.2 cm mesh size) and gillnet (7,500 cm length × 130 cm depth, 5 cm mesh size) from the Manas river in Assam, India.. The present study reports the length‐weight relationships (LWRs) of three cichlids (Crenicichla lepidota, Cichlasoma portalegrense and Geophagus brasiliensis) collected in a system of pools of the largest estuarine island of Patos lagoon, southern Brazil. Fishes were sampled during random field trips performed from April 2015 to April 2016, using a beach seine (net 5 × 2 m; mesh size 5 mm) and a hand net (diameter 45 cm, mesh size 2 mm).
