Length–weight relationships (LWRs) are presented for 11 deep‐sea fishes caught in the western Bay of Bengal and Andaman waters during August 2010 using a 38 m high speed demersal trawl II (HSDT II, crustacean version, codend mesh size 40 mm) and a 45.6 m Expo model demersal trawl (codend mesh size 30 mm). The b values ranged from 2.34 to 3.3 and the coefficient of variation (r2) ranged from .82 to .98. LWR estimates of eight deep‐sea fishes are provided for the first time. The estimated LWR values were compared with the Bayesian LWR estimates available in FishBase, based on models developed to improve the accuracy and predictability of species‐specific growth parameters of data‐poor species.  相似文献

Although the clinical use of immunoassays based on the oxidative‐reduction electrochemiluminescence (ECL) of tris(2,2′‐bipyridine)ruthenium (II)/tri‐n‐propylamine has been a great success, elucidation of the ECL generation mechanism still remains unsatisfactory. We report here our experimental observations of long‐lived luminescence that remains detectable for several seconds after termination of electrochemical heterogeneous oxidation. Long‐lived luminescence was observed in both a surfactant‐free buffer and a surfactant‐containing broadly used commercial buffer under different conditions. The slow decay of emission seems to have been unnoticed in previous ECL mechanistic studies. Within the frame of the reaction schemes so far proposed, its origin is inconclusively ascribed to the reductive‐oxidation process of ruthenium (II) complex, that is Ru(bpy)32+ → Ru(bpy)31+ → Ru(bpy)32+* → Ru(bpy)32+ with the involvement of the tri‐n‐propylamine‐derived radical cation. It is anticipated that long‐lived ECL will suggest a research approach to separate some homogeneous reactions from the complicated reaction system and therefore help to resolve the mechanistic mystery.  相似文献

This paper presents length‐weight relationships (LWR) for four fish species from the continental shelf of Yucatán, at the Sonda de Campeche (southwestern Gulf of México). Samples were taken using shrimp trawl nets (5.71 cm squared mesh size in the cod‐end) in the mid‐summer of 2016. All LWRs were significant with r2 values ranged from .946 to .994 and the values of exponent b, estimated using simple linear least squares of log‐transformed weight and length data, ranged from 2.54 to 3.10 (p < .001).  相似文献

Length–weight (LWR) and length–length (LLR) relationships were estimated for four shad species of the genus Alosa, reported from along the southern Caspian Sea coast, north of Iran in a study from March 2014. Two of these species are endemic to the Caspian Sea. The length–weight parameter b for these species ranged from 2.99 to 3.24, with regression coefficients (r2) ranging from 0.91 to 0.99. Biosorptive capacity of Pb(II), Cd(II) and Cu(II) by lyophilized cells of Pseudomonas stutzeri was investigated based on Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms. Biosorptive capacity for Pb(II), Cd(II) and Cu(II) decreased with an increase of metal concentration, reaching 142, 43.5 and 36.2 mg/g at initial concentration of 300 mg/l, respectively. Biosorption capacity for metal ions increased with increasing pH. The optimum pH for biosorption rate of Cd(II) and Cu(II) were 5.0, and 6.0 for Pb(II) biosorption. The experimental data showed a better fit with the Langmuir model over the Freundlich model for metal ions throughout the range of initial concentrations. The maximum sorptive capacity (q max) obtained from the Langmuir equation for Pb(II), Cd(II) and Cu(II) were 153.3 (r 2  = 0.998), 43.86 (r 2  = 0.995), and 33.16 (r 2  = 0.997) for metal ions, respectively. The selectivity order for metal ions towards the biomass of P. stutzeri was Pb(II) > Cd(II) > Cu(II) for a given initial metal ions concentration. The interactions between heavy metals and functional groups on the cell wall surface of bacterial biomass were confirmed by FTIR analysis. The results of this study indicate the possible removal of heavy metals from the environment by using lyophilized cells of P. stutzeri.  相似文献

The novel N‐propylphthalimide‐substituted and 4‐vinylbenzyl‐substituted N‐heterocyclic carbene (NHC) precursors were synthesized by N‐substituted benzimidazolium with aryl halides. The novel N‐propylphthalimide‐substituted and 4‐vinylbenzyl‐substituted NHC precursors have been characterized by using 1H NMR, 13C NMR, FTIR spectroscopy, and elemental analysis techniques. They were tested for the inhibition of AChE and hCA enzymes and demonstrated efficient inhibition profiles with Ki values in the range of 351.0–1269.9 nM against hCA I, 346.6–1193.1 nM against hCA II, and 19.0–76.3 nM against AChE. On the other hand, acetazolamide, a clinically used molecule, utilized as CA inhibitor, obtained a Ki value of 1246.7 nM against hCA I and 1407.6 nM against hCA II. Additionally, tacrine inhibited AChE and obtained a Ki value of 174.6 nM.  相似文献

Length‐weight relationships (LWRs) were determined for 4 deep water fish species from Visakhapatnam coast, India. Specimens were collected fortnightly between December 2013 and November 2015 from commercial trawls at Visakhapatnam fish landing centre (16.98°N–20.2°N, Long.82.19°–86.53°E). Individuals were captured between 100 and 300 m depth with shrimp trawl net (head rope length: 37–46 m and cod end mesh size: 30–40 mm). Total length (TL) (nearest to 0.1 cm) and body weights (nearest to 0.1 g) were taken each individual. All LWRs were significant with r2 values ranged from 0.958 for Uranoscopus bicinctus Temminkc & Schlegel, 1843 to 0.983 for Uranoscopus chinensis Guichenot, 1882 and “b” values ranged from 2.832 for U. bicinctus to 3. 402 Synodus indicus (Day, 1873).This study provides a new maximum length data for three species (Uranoscopus bicinctus Temminkc & Schlegel, 1843; Uranoscopus chinensis Guichenot, 1882 and Uranoscopus marmoratus Cuvier, 1829).  相似文献

Pro‐aging effects of endogenous advanced glycation end‐products (AGEs) have been reported, and there is increasing interest in the pro‐inflammatory and ‐fibrotic effects of their binding to RAGE (the main AGE receptor). The role of dietary AGEs in aging remains ill‐defined, but the predominantly renal accumulation of dietary carboxymethyllysine (CML) suggests the kidneys may be particularly affected. We studied the impact of RAGE invalidation and a CML‐enriched diet on renal aging. Two‐month‐old male, wild‐type (WT) and RAGE?/? C57Bl/6 mice were fed a control or a CML‐enriched diet (200 μg CML/gfood) for 18 months. Compared to controls, we observed higher CML levels in the kidneys of both CML WT and CML RAGE?/? mice, with a predominantly tubular localization. The CML‐rich diet had no significant impact on the studied renal parameters, whereby only a trend to worsening glomerular sclerosis was detected. Irrespective of diet, RAGE?/? mice were significantly protected against nephrosclerosis lesions (hyalinosis, tubular atrophy, fibrosis and glomerular sclerosis) and renal senile apolipoprotein A‐II (ApoA‐II) amyloidosis (p < 0.001). A positive linear correlation between sclerosis score and ApoA‐II amyloidosis score (r = 0.92) was observed. Compared with old WT mice, old RAGE?/? mice exhibited lower expression of inflammation markers and activation of AKT, and greater expression of Sod2 and SIRT1. Overall, nephrosclerosis lesions and senile amyloidosis were significantly reduced in RAGE?/? mice, indicating a protective effect of RAGE deletion with respect to renal aging. This could be due to reduced inflammation and oxidative stress in RAGE?/? mice, suggesting RAGE is an important receptor in so‐called inflamm‐aging.  相似文献

This study describes the length–weight relationship (LWR) of Pseudophoxinus alii from the Yamansaz Lake, a coastal freshwater lake in Antalya, Turkey. A total of 105 specimens were obtained using a variety of nets between April 2007 and March 2008. Total lengths ranged from 3.4 to 14.3 cm. The length–weight relationship showed a positive allometric growth (b = 3.012; R2 = 0.988). The study presents the first reference on LWR for this threatened species. The results also indicate a new maximum total length not previously reported in the international literature.  相似文献

The cotton whitefly, Bemisia tabaci (Gennadius) B‐biotype, is fed on by a wide variety of generalist predators, but there is little information on these predator–prey interactions, especially under field conditions. In this study, a real‐time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assay was developed to quantify B. tabaci B‐biotype remains in predator gut. The B. tabaci B‐biotype genomic DNA copy number was referred to the actual amount of BT1 isolate, the B. tabaci B‐biotype specific DNA fragment. The numbers of BT1 isolate in one B. tabaci B‐biotype egg, individual adult and a single red‐eyed nymph were 2.56 × 103, 2.56 × 104, and 1.29 × 104 copies, respectively. When Propylaea japonica adults fed on one, two, four, eight or 16 red‐eyed nymphs, the detected numbers of BT1 isolate ranged from 2.77 × 104 to 4.05 × 105 copies, forming a strong linear relationship (R2 = 0.9899). Following the consumption of two red‐eyed nymphs, prey DNA was detectable in 100% of P. japonica at t = 0, decreasing to 80.0% and 60.0% after 1–4 h and 8 h of digestion, respectively, with 3.36 × 104–1.25 × 103 BT1 isolate copies. The predation by field‐collected predators, 26 larvae of P. japonica, and of Harmonia axyridis each, Chrysopa spp. larvae (Chrysopa pallens and C. formosa, 18 individuals in total), and a single adult of Scymnus hoffmanni, 19 adults of Orius sauteri and nine adult spiders (Erigonnidium graminicolum and Neoscona doenitzi), on B. tabaci B‐biotype were quantified. Of the 99 analysed predator individuals, 3.65 × 102–4.60 × 105 copies of BT1 isolate, equivalent to 0.8–18.8 red‐eyed nymphs were detected. These results suggest that TaqMan real‐time PCR technology may provide a rapid and sensitive method for quantifying B. tabaci B‐biotype remains in predator guts and will be invaluable in assessing the food web relationship between prey and arthropod predators.  相似文献

A simple, rapid chemiluminescence (CL) method was described for the determination of piroxicam, a commonly used analgesic agent drug. A strong CL signal was detected when cerium(IV) sulphate was injected into tris‐(4,7‐diphenyl‐1,10‐phenanthrolinedisulphonic acid) ruthenium(II) (RuBPS)–piroxicam solution. The CL signal was proportional to the concentration of piroxicam in the range 2.8 × 10–8–1.2 × 10–5 mol/L. The detection limit was 2 × 10–8 mol/L and the relative standard deviation (RSD) was 3.7% (c = 7.0 × 10–7 mol/L piroxicam; n = 11). The proposed method was applied to the determination of piroxicam in pharmaceutical preparations in capsules, spiked serum and urine samples with satisfactory results. Length‐weight relationships (LWRs) were estimated for five needlefish species such as Ablennes hians (Valenciennes, 1846), Tylosurus crocodilus (Péron & Lesueur, 1821), Tylosurus acus melanotus (Bleeker, 1850), Strongylura leiura (Bleeker, 1850), and Strongylura strongylura (van Hasselt, 1823). Specimens were collected on weekly basis from Cochin Fisheries Harbour (Lat. 09056′327″N, Long. 76015′764″E), Munambam Fisheries Harbour (Lat. 10010′965″N, Long. 76010′258″E), Kalamukku (Lat. 09059′924″N, Long. 76014′564″E) and Chellanam (Lat. 09047′950″N, Long. 76016′551″E), between October 2015 to August 2017. Fish were captured by traditional long liner (hook no. IX‐XIV) and ring seiner (mesh size 8–24 mm). The estimated allometric co‐efficient b values ranged from 3.063 (Tylosurus acus melanotus) to 3.962 (Strongylura leiura) and r2 values ranged from 0.850 (Tylosurus acus melanotus) to 0.992 (Tylosurus crocodilus). All the LWRs were highly significant, with p < .001. In addition, the study provides the first estimate of LWR for Tylosurus acus melanotus and new estimate for other four species of needlefish.  相似文献

Length–weight relationships (LWRs) of three fish species: Scomberomorus commerson, Alepes vari, and A. kleinii were estimated from Kerala waters, south‐west coast of India. Fish were captured between June 2016 and June 2017 by various gears such as ring seine (8–26 mm mesh size), trawl (30–40 mm cod end mesh size), hook and line (hook number VI–XII), smaller mesh sized drift gill net (26–90 mm) and larger one (120–170 mm) for bigger size fishes. Fish were collected on weekly basis from Cochin Fisheries Harbour (Lat. 09°56′327″N, Long. 76°15′764″E), Munambam Fisheries Harbour (Lat. 10°10′965″N, Long. 76°10′258″E), Kalamukku (Lat. 09°59′924″N, Long. 76°14′564″E) and Chellanam (Lat. 09°47′950″N, Long. 76°16′551″E). All LWRs were significant with r2 values ranged from 0.944 to 0.996 and b values ranged from 2.722 to 3.021 (< .001). Four new 13,14‐seco‐withanolides, minisecolides A – D ( 1  –  4 ), together with three known analogues 5  –  7 , were isolated from the whole plants of Physalis minima. The structures of new compounds were determined on the basis of spectroscopic analysis, including 1H‐, 13C‐NMR, 2D‐NMR (HMBC, HSQC, ROESY), and HR‐ESI‐MS. Evaluation of all isolates for their inhibitory effects on nitric oxide (NO) production was conducted on lipopolysaccaride‐activated RAW264.7 macrophages. Compounds 2 , 3 , 5 , and 6 showed inhibitory activities, especially for compound 5 with IC50 value of 3.87 μm .  相似文献

This study presents the first references available for Cynoponticus savanna length–weight relationships (LWR) as well as other biological information, based on its unique population in the South Atlantic Ocean, specifically, Todos os Santos Bay, on the Brazilian central coast. A total of 464 individuals were obtained from artisanal fishing landings between July 2012 and June 2013. Total lengths ranged from 14.5 to 139.6 cm. The length‐weight relationship was BW = 0.716 TL3.31. Length at first maturity (Lm) was 48.9 cm. Reproduction began gradually in May, reaching a peak around December, with most individuals completing reproduction by January. The gonadosomatic index (GSI) was highest in January (GSI = 0.21) and lowest in March (GSI = 0.024). The male index (GSI = 0.073) was lower than in females (GSI = 0.10) (P < 0.01). This study presents the first population data for C. savanna, which is under threat due to overfishing and habitat loss.  相似文献

Ventricular arrhythmias commonly originate from the right ventricular out‐flow tract (RVOT). However, the electrophysiological characteristics and Ca2+ homoeostasis of RVOT cardiomyocytes remain unclear. Whole‐cell patch clamp and indo‐1 fluorometric ratio techniques were used to investigate action potentials, Ca2+ homoeostasis and ionic currents in isolated cardiomyocytes from the rabbit RVOT and right ventricular apex (RVA). Conventional microelectrodes were used to record the electrical activity before and after (KN‐93, a Ca2+/calmodulin‐dependent kinase II inhibitor, or ranolazine, a late sodium current inhibitor) treatment in RVOT and RVA tissue preparations under electrical pacing and ouabain (Na+/K+ ATPase inhibitor) administration. In contrast to RVA cardiomyocytes, RVOT cardiomyocytes were characterized by longer action potential duration measured at 90% and 50% repolarization, larger Ca2+ transients, higher Ca2+ stores, higher late Na+ and transient outward K+ currents, but smaller delayed rectifier K+, L‐type Ca2+ currents and Na+‐Ca2+ exchanger currents. RVOT cardiomyocytes showed significantly more pacing‐induced delayed afterdepolarizations (22% versus 0%, P < 0.05) and ouabain‐induced ventricular arrhythmias (94% versus 61%, P < 0.05) than RVA cardiomyocytes. Consistently, it took longer time (9 ± 1 versus 4 ± 1 min., P < 0.05) to eliminate ouabain‐induced ventricular arrhythmias after application of KN‐93 (but not ranolazine) in the RVOT in comparison with the RVA. These results indicate that RVOT cardiomyocytes have distinct electrophysiological characteristics with longer AP duration and greater Ca2+ content, which could contribute to the high RVOT arrhythmogenic activity.  相似文献

Objective measurements of melanin can provide important information for differentiating melanoma from benign pigmented lesions and in assessing pigmentary diseases. Herein, we evaluate near‐infrared (NIR) fluorescence as a possible tool to quantify melanin. Various concentrations of in vitro Sepia melanin in tissue phantoms were measured with NIR fluorescence and diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. Similar optic measurements were conducted in vivo on 161 normal human skin sites. Diffuse reflectance spectroscopy was used to quantify the melanin content via Stamatas–Kollias algorithm. At physiologic concentrations, increasing in vitro melanin concentrations demonstrated higher fluorescence that was linearly correlated (R2 = 0.99, p < .001). At higher concentrations, the fluorescence signal plateaued. A linear relationship was also observed with melanin content in human skin (R2 = 0.59, p < .001). Comparing the fluorescence and reflectance signals with in vitro and in vivo samples, the estimated melanin concentration in human skin ranged between 0 and 1.25 mg/ml, consistent with previous quantitative studies involving invasive methods.  相似文献

Our previous findings have indicated that Bacillus mucilaginosus might be a promising biosorbent. However, up to now, few studies have been performed to examine the use of B. mucilaginosus as a sorbent, especially as a sorbent for Hg(II). The aim of the current study was to investigate the adsorption of Hg(II) by B. mucilaginosus and the underlying mechanism involved. The results showed that B. mucilaginosus exhibited effective adsorption of Hg(II), and the experimental data were well fitted by the Langmuir model with equilibrium constant of 3.32 × 104 M−1 and maximum adsorption capacity of 393 mg(Hg)/l(bacterial culture). The average saturated adsorption amount of Hg(II) by each cell was 9.83 × 109 atoms, with time to reach adsorption equilibrium less than 10 min. The adsorption efficiency was mainly dependent on pH. Surface adsorption of capsules was identified to be the major mechanism for the biosorption of Hg(II) by B. mucilaginosus, which might be associated with the cell products on the surface of capsules of B. mucilaginosus. Differences observed in adsorption behaviors at different concentrations of Hg(II) were well explained using the Visual minTEQ software. Our findings might shed some lights on the application of B. mucilaginosus as an adsorbent for Hg(II) and other heavy metals.  相似文献

The cell‐wall pectic domain rhamnogalacturonan‐II (RG‐II) is cross‐linked via borate diester bridges, which influence the expansion, thickness and porosity of the wall. Previously, little was known about the mechanism or subcellular site of this cross‐linking. Using polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE) to separate monomeric from dimeric (boron‐bridged) RG‐II, we confirmed that Pb2+ promotes H3BO3‐dependent dimerisation in vitro. H3BO3 concentrations as high as 50 mm did not prevent cross‐linking. For in‐vivo experiments, we successfully cultured ‘Paul's Scarlet’ rose (Rosa sp.) cells in boron‐free medium: their wall‐bound pectin contained monomeric RG‐II domains but no detectable dimers. Thus pectins containing RG‐II domains can be held in the wall other than via boron bridges. Re‐addition of H3BO3 to 3.3 μm triggered a gradual appearance of RG‐II dimer over 24 h but without detectable loss of existing monomers, suggesting that only newly synthesised RG‐II was amenable to boron bridging. In agreement with this, Rosa cultures whose polysaccharide biosynthetic machinery had been compromised (by carbon starvation, respiratory inhibitors, anaerobiosis, freezing or boiling) lost the ability to generate RG‐II dimers. We conclude that RG‐II normally becomes boron‐bridged during synthesis or secretion but not post‐secretion. Supporting this conclusion, exogenous [3H]RG‐II was neither dimerised in the medium nor cross‐linked to existing wall‐associated RG‐II domains when added to Rosa cultures. In conclusion, in cultured Rosa cells RG‐II domains have a brief window of opportunity for boron‐bridging intraprotoplasmically or during secretion, but secretion into the apoplast is a point of no return beyond which additional boron‐bridging does not readily occur.  相似文献

The kinetics of the decomposition reaction of 4‐(4,5‐diphenyl‐1H‐imidazol‐2‐yl)phenyl acetate ( 1 ) in basic alcoholic media was investigated, using a simple fluorescence (FL) spectrophotometric procedure. The process was conveniently studied using FL, since the triphenylimidazole‐derived ester 1 and its reaction products (the corresponding phenol 2 and phenolate 2 ? ) are all highly fluorescent (ΦFL > 37%). By carefully selecting excitation and emission wavelengths, observed rate constants k1 in the order of 10?3 to 10?2 s?1 were obtained from either reactant consumption (λex = 300 nm, λem = 400 nm) or product formation (λex = 350 nm, λem = 475 nm); these were shown to be kinetically equivalent. Intensity‐decay time profiles also gave a residual FL intensity parameter, shown to be associated to the distribution of produced species 2 and 2 ? , according to the basicity of the medium. Studying the reaction in both methanol (MeOH) and isopropanol (iPrOH), upon addition of HO?, provided evidence that the solvent's conjugate base is the active nucleophilic species. When different bases were used (tBuO?, HO?, DBU and TEA), bimolecular rate constants kbim ranging from 4.5 to 6.5 L mol?1 s?1 were obtained, which proved to be non‐dependent on the base pKaH, suggesting specific base catalysis for the decomposition of 1 in alcoholic media.  相似文献
