This study reports the length–weight relationships (LWRs) of Rastrelliger brachysoma (Bleeker, 1851) and Rastrelliger faughni Matsui, 1967 from Andaman Islands, India. Sample sizes for the two fish species were 78 for R. brachysoma and 57 for R. faughni. Fish collected monthly from Junglighat fish landing center. Fish were captured by commercial ring seine units (mesh size ranging from 2 to 4 cm) between February 2016 and March 2017. LWRs were established as TW = 0.0042TL3.332 (r2 = .989) for R. brachysoma and TW = 0.0096TL3.022 (r2 = .980) for R. faughni.  相似文献

This study reports the length‐weight relationships (LWRs) of Acrossocheilus beijiangensis Wu & Lin, 1977 and Barbodes semifasciolatus (Günther, 1868) from the upper reaches of Beijiang River, Guangdong Province, China. Sample sizes for the two fish species were 335 for A. beijiangensis and 106 for B. semifasciolatus. Fishes were collected on a monthly basis between November 2013 and December 2014 using gill nets (30 m long × 1.2 m high, mesh‐size 1.5 cm) and fish cages (mesh‐size 0.5 cm). LWRs were established as W = 0.0052L3.3249 (r2 = .9696) for A. beijiangensis and W = 0.0088L3.2405 (r2 = .9469) for B. semifasciolatus. No previous information is available on LWRs for these two species in FishBase.  相似文献

Length–weight relationships (LWRs) were estimated for nine freshwater fish species collected three times using a scoop net (mesh size 0.3–0.5 cm), cast net (mesh size 1–1.5 cm) and gillnet (mesh size 2.5–4.5 cm) from six rivers of the Western Ghats of India during August 2017–October 2018. The b values for LWRs varied from 2.862 to 3.656 (R2 > 0.916 and p < 0.0001 for all species).  相似文献

The present study reports on biometric indices comprising length-weight relationships (LWRs) of five miniature freshwater fish species from the Kaptai Lake, the largest lake in the People's Republic of Bangladesh. The study area included 3 stations in the 11,122 km2 catchment area of the lake and each station was sampled from November 2017 to April 2018 using push net (mesh size 2 mm) for capturing the species. The values of growth coefficient b of the LWRs (W = aTLb) of the species Oryzias dancena, Oryzias melastigma, Gobiopterus chuno, Brachygobius nunus and Badis chittagongis were 2.9575, 3.1467, 3.0535, 3.058 and 2.9396 with above 0.95 coefficient of correlation (r2). These results represent the first study of LWRs for these fish species which may help in management and conservation of the species in the whole country, including its geographical distribution.  相似文献

This study provides the first report of length–weight relationships (LWRs) for three fish species collected from the Yalong River, one of the tributaries to the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, China. The LWRs of these fish species were BW = 0.0070TL3.0539 (r2 = 0.9662) for Schizothorax wangchiachii, BW=0.0134TL2.8523 (r2 = 0.9676) for Schizopygopsis malacanthus, and BW=0.0143TL2.9253 (r2 = 0.8538) for Euchiloglanis kishinouyei, respectively. Also investigated were the spawning season, absolute fecundity and main food items of the three fish species in the natural environment. This study evaluated the length-weight relationships (LWRs) for three teleost fish species sampled from the Stung Russei Chrum River basin, Kingdom of Cambodia. The fish were collected during two dry seasons (April 2019 and November 2019) and one rainy season (October 2018) using monofilament trammel nets (2–12 cm mesh size), cast net (mesh size 2 cm) and scoop-nets (mesh size with 0.3 cm). Results showed that all fitted regressions were highly significant and the coefficients of determination (r2) were high. This study expanded the value of maximum total length for Cyclocheilichthys apogon and Poropuntius laoensis while reported the wider ranges of total mass for Poropuntius laoensis. Moreover, our present study also provided the novel LWRs records for Hemibagrus filamemtus.  相似文献

Length‐weight relationships (LWRs) are presented for three hill stream fish species belonging to the family Cyprinidae namely, Barilius barila (Hamilton, 1822), Opsarius tileo (Hamilton, 1822) and Cyprinion semiplotum (McClelland, 1839). Fishes were collected on a monthly basis from January 2016 to December 2017 with the help of cast net (270 cm length, 1.2 cm mesh size) and gillnet (7,500 cm length × 130 cm depth, 5 cm mesh size) from the Manas river in Assam, India.. Length-weight relationships (LWRs) were estimated for 11 fish species from the Min River Estuary and its adjacent waters, Fujian Province, China. All samples were collected using gillnets (mesh size 45 mm) and bottom trawls (mesh sizes 45 mm at the main webbing and 25 mm at the cod end) seasonally in 2017 and 2018. The parameters for the LWRs were estimated, along with the basic Statistical analyses for total length and weight ranges as well as the 95% confidence intervals for the intercept (a) and the slope (b) of the regression lines. Further, the coefficient of correlation indicated that the LWRs were highly significant (all r2 > .95, p < .001). This study provides the new maximum total lengths (TLmax) for Coilia grayii (33.0 cm), Johnius taiwanensis (20.9 cm), Johnius trewavasae (22.0 cm) and Cynoglossus sibogae (22.0 cm).  相似文献

The present study reports on length-weight relationships (LWRs) for 37 of the most abundant fish species in the Lefini River basin, one of the largest right bank tributaries of the Congo River in the Republic of the Congo. The study area comprised 12 stations along 103 km of the river. Each station was sampled during March 2007 to August 2008 following standardized methods utilizing five monofilament gill nets of 10, 12, 15, 20 and 30 mm mesh size. Sample size, lengths, weights, LWRs, 95% confidence intervals of a and b, coefficient of correlation r2 and growth type are provided for each species. Values of allometric coefficient b of the LWRs (W = aSLb) ranged from 2.556 for Synodontis nigriventris to 3.363 for Brycinus poptae. These results represent the first study of length-weight relationships for fish species in a large affluent of the Congo basin as a whole.  相似文献

Length–weight relationships (LWRs) and length–length relationships (LLRs) are presented for the first time for three Ambassid fish species from the Ganges River, northwestern (NW) Bangladesh. Fish were sampled with traditional fishing gear including cast net (mesh size ranges from 1.0 to 2.0 cm), gill net (mesh size ranges from 1.5 to 2.5 cm), square lift net (mesh size ~ 1.0 cm) and conical and box trap, October 2014 to September 2015. Allometric coefficient (b) values were 3.00 for Chanda nama, 3.10 for Parambassis lala and 3.23 for Parambassis ranga, respectively. Additionally, the LLRs were highly significant with r2 ≥ .958. The present observations would be an effective tool for their stock assessment in the Ganges River, NW Bangladesh and surrounding ecosystems.  相似文献

The biological characteristics of eels from the Asi River, Turkey, were assessed between December 2017 and November 2018. Eels were sampled monthly using fyke nets (operated by professional fishermen), yielding a total of 509 specimens. Total length and weight were measured, sex, age and maturity stages (silver or yellow eel) were determined. Catch Per Unit Effort (CPUE) was calculated for both biomass per unit effort and numbers caught on a monthly and annual basis. The length-weight relationships (LWRs) of silver and yellow eel was W = 0.009*TL3.22 (n = 262) and W = 0.0106*L3.09 (n = 247), respectively. The age of the sampled fish ranged from year class II to VI. Von Bertalanffy growth parameters were estimated as L=69.25 cm, K = 0.43 1/year, t0= −0.41 and phi prime index ( ǿ )= 3.31 for all samples. The overall eel fishing mortality rate (F) was 0.31 year-1, and the exploitation and survival rates of silver stage eels were estimated with 30% and 39%, respectively.  相似文献

This investigation prepares the length–weight relationships (LWRs) of two fish species, including Alburnoides nicolausi (Bogutskaya & Coad, 2009) and Alburnus zagrosensis (Coad, 2009) from Houzian River (latitude 33°22′15.20″ to 33°21′31.57″N; longitude 49°44′39.66″ to 49°44′17.67″E), Lorestan province, Iran. Fish specimens were collected monthly using seine net with 5 mm (Stretched) mesh size between April to September 2017. The LWRs for fish species were W = 0.0059L3.405 (male) and W = 0.0053L3.494 (female) for A. nicolausi, W = 0.0035L3.341 (male) and W = 0.003L3.387 (female) for A. zagrosensis, respectively. The highest value of r2 was .931 for male of A. zagrosensis and lowest value was .964 for male of A. nicolausi.  相似文献

This study reports the length–weight relationships (LWRs) of four small indigenous species, Trichogaster lalius (Hamilton, 1822), Nandus meni (Hossain & Sarker, 2013), Lepidocephalichthys annandalei (Chaudhuri, 1912) and Botia dario (Hamilton, 1822) collected between July 2015 and August 2016 from fishermen's catches landed in an inland fish landing center, northeastern Bangladesh. In the study, a new maximum total length (TL) is given for L. annandalei and LWRs of three species T. lalius, N. meni and L. annandalei for the first time in FishBase. Estimated LWRs were W = .014 TL3.17, (r2 = .982) for T. lalius, W = .006 TL3.38, (r2 = .961) for N. meni, W = .004 TL3.27, (r2 = .965) for L. annandalei and W = .020 TL2.87, (r2 = .978) for B. dario.  相似文献

Length–weight relationships (LWRs) of six finfish species under two families of the order Perciformes collected from Pulicat lagoon (India) are presented in this study. The fish specimens were collected weekly from the catches of shore seine net (with a mesh size of 50mm at the main webbing and 10 mm at the cod end) operated in the lagoon at an average depth of 2.5 m by the local fishermen during the period from July 2018 to April 2019. This study reports the LWRs for five gobiid and one siganid fish species which have no earlier reports on LWRs. The calculated ‘b’ value ranged from 3.538 (Favonigobius reichei) to 2.677 (Oxyurichthys microlepis) and ‘a’ value varied from 0.0041 (Favonigobius reichei) to 0.0199 (Acentrogobius cyanomos). This study also reports the new maximum total length (TLmax) for the gobiid fish species Oxyurichthys microlepis.  相似文献

Length-weight relationships (LWRs) and length-length relationships (LLRs) were evaluated for three endemic fish species sampled from the lower Yalong River and its biggest tributary (the Anning River), in China. This study provides length–weight relationships (LWRs) for three flatfish species: Cynoglossus bilineatus (Lacepède, 1802), Solea elongata (Day, 1877), and Pseudorhombus elevatus (Ogilby, 1912) from Motaf fishing grounds (latitude 27°00′ to 28°03′N; longitude 51°41′ to 52°11′E), Bushehr province, Iran. A total of 103 fish specimens were collected using shrimp trawler with 40 mm (stretched mesh size) at depths of 10–30 m between August and September 2017. Length–weight relationships (LWRs) were determined for three fish species (Gymnodiptychus pachycheilus (Herzenstein, 1892), Triplophysa bleekeri (Sauvage & Dabry de Thiersant, 1874) and Triplophysa pseudostenura (He, Zhang & Song, 2012)) from the Yalong River in China. Samples were obtained between March 2009 and July 2013 using gillnets (25 × 12 m, mesh size 0.5 cm) and fish cages (0.5 × 0.5 × 10 m, mesh size 0.5 cm mesh). For each species, the sample size, length range, weight range, LWR, 95% confidence intervals of a and b, and coefficient of correlation were determined. This study presents the first report of length–weight relationships (LWRs) for Apocryptes bato (Hamilton, 1822), Salmophasia phulo (Hamilton, 1822), and Silonia silondia (Hamilton, 1822), excluding Anodontostoma chacunda (Hamilton, 1822), from fishermen's catches landed in a coastal artisanal fishery at Patuakhali, Southern Bangladesh. Specimens were sampled occasionally over a period of 1 year between August 2014 and September 2015. Fishes were collected from coastal fishermen using cast nets (mesh size <0.5 cm) for A. bato, set bag nets (mesh size 0.5 cm) for A. chacunda and S. silondia, and lift nets (mesh size <0.5 cm) for S. phulo. The LWRs obtained were = 0.006L2.99, (r2) = 0.976, = 0.011L3.04, (r2) = 0.971, = 0.006L3.00, (r2) = 0.945 and = 0.007L2.99, (r2) = 0.988 for A. bato, A. chacunda, S. phulo, and S. silondia, respectively.  相似文献

Fish were caught seasonally using set bag net and cast net with mesh size of 0.5 cm and < 0.5 cm, respectively. LWRs of Toxotes chatareus, Datnioides polota and Chela cachius were calculated as W = 0.0154L2.926 (r2 = .962), W = 0.0149L3.106 (r2 = .992) and W = 0.0109L2.968 (r2 = .981), respectively. Length–weight relationships (LWRs) for five fish species which were captured by trap‐nets and gillnets (major mesh size: 1–10 cm) from the middle Yangtze River, China (29°47′ – 29°26′N; 112°51′ – 113°08′E) were determined in September 2017. These were Acheilognathus hypselonotus (Bleeker, 1871), Culter oxycephaloides Kreyenberg & Pappenheim, 1908, Distoechodon tumirostris Peters, 1881, Sarcocheilichthys nigripinnis (Günther, 1873) and Micropercops swinhonis (Günther, 1873). The LWRs were estimated using the logarithmic form of the formula =   ×  Lb. The b value ranged from 2.879 for A. hypselonotus to 3.285 for M. swinhonis. LWRs for four fish species and new maximum lengths for three species are presented to FishBase for the first time.  相似文献
