Quantitative trait loci controlling plant architectural traits in cotton   总被引:5,自引:0,他引:5
Cotton plant architecture is an important characteristic influencing the suitability of specific cotton varieties in cultivation, fiber yield and quality. However, complex multigenic relationships and substantial genotype–environment interaction underlie plant architecture, and will hinder the efficient improvement of these traits in conventional cotton breeding programs. An enhanced understanding of the molecular-genetic regulation of plant morphological developmental can aid in the modification of agronomically relevant traits. In this study, an interspecific Gossypium hirsutum and Gossypium barbadense BC1 population was used to identify QTL associated with plant architectural traits. Twenty-six single QTL were identified for seven plant architecture traits. The phenotypic variation explained by an individual QTL ranged from 9.56% to 44.57%. In addition, 11 epistatic QTL for fruit branch angle (FBA), plant height (PH), main-stem leaf size (MLS), and fruiting branch internode length (FBI) explained 2.28–15.34% of the phenotypic variation in these traits. The majority of the interactions (60%) occurred between markers linked to QTL influencing the same traits. The QTL detected in this study are expected to be valuable in future breeding programs to develop cultivars exhibiting desirable cotton architecture.  相似文献

Flowering time is an important trait in chrysanthemum, but its genetic basis remains poorly understood. An intra-specific mapping population bred from the cross between the autumn-flowering cultivar ‘Yuhualuoying’ and the summer-flowering ‘Aoyunhanxiao’ was used to determine the number and relative effect of QTL segregating for five measures of flowering time. From flowering time data recorded over two consecutive seasons, 35 additive QTL were detected, each explaining between 5.8% and 22.7% of the overall phenotypic variance. Of these, 13 were detected in both years. Nine genomic regions harboring QTL for at least two of the five traits were identified. Ten pairs of loci epistatically determined the flowering time, but their contribution to the overall phenotypic variance was less than for the additive QTL. The results suggest that flowering time in chrysanthemum is principally governed by main effect QTL but that epistasis also contributes to the genetic architecture of the trait, and the major QTL identified herein are useful in our ongoing efforts to streamline the improvement of chrysanthemum via the use of molecular methodology.  相似文献

The extent to which epistasis contributes to adaptation, population differentiation, and speciation is a long-standing and important problem in evolutionary genetics. Using recombinant inbred (RI) lines of Arabidopsis thaliana grown under natural field conditions, we have examined the genetic architecture of fitness-correlated traits with respect to epistasis; we identified both single-locus additive and two-locus epistatic QTL for natural variation in fruit number, germination, and seed length and width. For fruit number, we found seven significant epistatic interactions, but only two additive QTL. For seed germination, length, and width, there were from two to four additive QTL and from five to eight epistatic interactions. The epistatic interactions were both positive and negative. In each case, the magnitude of the epistatic effects was roughly double that of the effects of the additive QTL, varying from -41% to +29% for fruit number and from -5% to +4% for seed germination, length, and width. A number of the QTL that we describe participate in more than one epistatic interaction, and some loci identified as additive also may participate in an epistatic interaction; the genetic architecture for fitness traits may be a network of additive and epistatic effects. We compared the map positions of the additive and epistatic QTL for germination, seed width, and seed length from plants grown in both the field and the greenhouse. While the total number of significant additive and epistatic QTL was similar under the two growth conditions, the map locations were largely different. We found a small number of significant epistatic QTL x environment effects when we tested directly for them. Our results support the idea that epistatic interactions are an important part of natural genetic variation and reinforce the need for caution in comparing results from greenhouse-grown and field-grown plants.  相似文献

Bean pyralid (BP; Lamprosema indicata Fabricius) is one of the major leaf-feeding insects that affect soybean crops in central and southern China. Four recombinant inbred line populations (KY, WT, XG and SX) were tested during 2004-2006 in Nanjing, China, to identify quantitative trait loci (QTL) for resistance to BP on the basis of data for rolled leaflet percentage under field infestation conditions. The mapping was performed using QTL Network V2.0 and checked with Windows QTL Cartographer V2.5 and IciMapping V2.2. The results showed that 81-92?% of the phenotypic variation was accounted for by additive QTL (27-43?%), epistatic QTL pairs (5-13?%), and collective unmapped minor QTL (38-58?%). In total, 17 QTL were detected on 11 linkage groups, of which two had additive effects, six had both additive and epistatic effects, and nine had only epistatic effects. Eight epistatic QTL pairs were observed, of which three pairs involved two QTL with additive effects, one involved one QTL with additive effect, and four involved no QTL with additive effects. Different genetic structures for BP resistance were found among the populations. Eight QTL (five additive and three epistatic pairs) were detected in KY, ten QTL (four additive and five epistatic pairs) were detected in WT, and only one additive QTL was detected in both the XG and the SX populations. BP12-1 and BP1-1 are major QTL, with the former accounting for 15, 31, and 50?% of the total genetic variation (including epistasis) in KY, WT, and XG, respectively, and the latter accounting for 13 and 32?% of the total genetic variation in KY and SX, respectively. The additive?×?year and epistasis?×?year interaction effects were negligible, indicating that the QTL were stable over the years. Because 41-68?% of the total genetic variation could not be accounted for by these QTL, the use of both identified QTL and unmapped minor QTL in breeding for BP resistance should be considered.  相似文献

Test weight is an important trait in maize breeding. Understanding the genetic mechanism of test weight is important for effective selection of maize test weight improvement. In this study, quantitative trait loci (QTL) for maize test weight were identified. In the years 2007 and 2008, a F2:3 population along with the parents Chang7-2 and Zheng58 were planted in Zhengzhou, People’s Republic of China. Significant genotypic variation for maize test weight was observed in both years. Based on the genetic map containing 180 polymorphic SSR markers with an average linkage distance of 11.0 cM, QTL for maize test weight were analysed by mixed-model composite interval mapping. Five QTL, including four QTL with only additive effects, were identified on chromosomes 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5, and together explained 25.2% of the phenotypic variation. Seven pairs of epistatic interactions were also detected, involving 11 loci distributed on chromosomes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7, respectively, which totally contributed 18.2% of the phenotypic variation. However, no significant QTL × environment (Q×E) interaction and epistasis × environment interaction effects were detected. The results showed that besides the additive QTL, epistatic interactions also formed an important genetic basis for test weight in maize.  相似文献

Genetic analysis of 12 yield-associated traits was undertaken by dissection of quantitative trait loci (QTL) through meta-analysis and epistatic interaction studies in Brassica juncea. A consensus (integrated) map in B. juncea was constructed using two maps. These were VH map, developed earlier in the laboratory by using a DH population from the cross between Varuna and Heera (Pradhan et al. in Theor Appl Genet 106:607–614, 2003; Ramchiary et al. in Theor Appl Genet. 115:807–817, 2007; Panjabi et al. in BMC Genomics 9:113, 2008), and the TD map, developed in the present study using a DH population of 100 lines from the cross between TM-4 and Donskaja-IV. The TD map was constructed with 911 markers consisting of 585 AFLP, 8 SSR and 318 IP markers covering a total genome length of 1,629.9?cM. The consensus map constructed by using the common markers between the two maps contained a total of 2,662 markers and covered a total genome length of 1,927.1?cM. Firstly, QTL analysis of 12 yield-associated traits was undertaken for the TD population based on three-environment phenotypic data. Secondly, the three-environment phenotypic data for the same 12 quantitative traits generated by Ramchiary et al. (2007) were re-analyzed for the QTL detection in the VH map. Comparative analysis identified both common and population-specific QTL. The study revealed the presence of QTL clusters on LG A7, A8 and A10 in both TD and VH maps. Meta-analyses resolved 187 QTL distributed over nine linkage groups of TD and VH maps into 20 meta-QTL. Maximum resolution was recorded for the LG A10 wherein all the 54 QTL were mapped to a single meta-QTL within a confidence interval of 3.0?cM. Digenic epistatic interactions of QTL in both TD and VH maps revealed substantial additive?×?additive interactions showing a higher frequency of Type 1 and Type 2 interactions than Type 3 interactions. Some of the loci interacted with more than one locus indicating the presence of higher order epistatic interactions. These findings provided some detailed insight into the genetic architecture of the yield-associated traits in B. juncea.  相似文献

To understand the types of gene action controlling seven quantitative traits in rice, we carried out quantitative trait locus (QTL) mapping in order to distinguish between the main-effect QTLs (M-QTLs) and digenic epistatic QTLs (E-QTLs) responsible for the trait performance of 254 recombinant inbred lines (RILs) from rice varieties Lemont/Teqing and two backcross hybrid (BCF1) populations derived from these RILs. We identified 44 M-QTL and 95 E-QTL pairs in the RI and BCF1 populations as having significant effects on the mean values and mid-parental heterosis of heading date, plant height, flag leaf length, flag leaf width, panicle length, spikelet number and spikelet fertility. The E-QTLs detected collectively explained a larger portion of the total phenotypic variation than the M-QTLs in both the RI and BCF1 populations. In both BCF1 populations, over-dominant (or under-dominant) loci were more important than additive and complete or partially dominant loci for M-QTLs and E-QTL pairs, thereby supporting prior findings that overdominance resulting from epistatic loci are the primary genetic basis of inbreeding depression and heterosis in rice.  相似文献

Roots are involved in acquisition of water and nutrients, as well as in providing structural support to plant. The root system provides a dynamic model for developmental analysis. Here, we investigated quantitative trait loci (QTL), dynamic conditional QTL and epistatic interactions for seedling root traits using an upland cotton F2 population and a constructed genetic map. Totally, 37 QTLs for root traits, 35 dynamic conditional QTLs based on the net increased amount of root traits (root tips, forks, length, surface area and volume) (i) after transplanting 10 days compared to 5 days, and (ii) after transplanting 15 days to 10 days were detected. Obvious dynamic characteristic of QTL and dynamic conditional QTL existed at different developmental stages of root because QTL and dynamic conditional QTL had not been detected simultaneously. We further confirmed that additive and dominance effects of QTL qRSA-chr1-1 in interval time 5 to 10 DAT (days after transplant) offset the effects in 10 to 15 DAT. Lots of two-locus interactions for root traits were identified unconditionally or dynamically, and a few epistatic interactions were only detected simultaneously in interval time of 5–10 DAT and 10–15 DAT, suggesting different interactive genetic mechanisms on root development at different stages. Dynamic conditional QTL and epistasis effects provide new attempts to understand the dynamics of roots and provide clues for root architecture selection in upland cotton.  相似文献

The key to plant survival under NaCl salt stress is maintaining a low Na+ level or Na+/K+ ratio in the cells. A population of recombinant inbred lines (RILs, F2∶9) derived from a cross between the salt-tolerant japonica rice variety Jiucaiqing and the salt-sensitive indica variety IR26, was used to determine Na+ and K+ concentrations in the roots and shoots under three different NaCl stress conditions (0, 100 and 120 mM NaCl). A total of nine additive QTLs were identified by QTL Cartographer program using single-environment phenotypic values, whereas eight additive QTLs were identified by QTL IciMapping program. Among these additive QTLs, five were identified by both programs. Epistatic QTLs and QTL-by-environment interactions were detected by QTLNetwork program in the joint analyses of multi-environment phenotypic values, and one additive QTL and nine epistatic QTLs were identified. There were three epistatic QTLs identified for Na+ in roots (RNC), three additive QTLs and two epistatic QTLs identified for Na+ in shoots (SNC), four additive QTLs identified for K+ in roots (RKC), four additive QTLs and three epistatic QTLs identified for K+ in shoots (SKC) and one additive QTL and one epistatic QTL for salt tolerance rating (STR). The phenotypic variation explained by each additive, epistatic QTL and QTL×environment interaction ranged from 8.5 to 18.9%, 0.5 to 5.3% and 0.7 to 7.5%, respectively. By comparing the chromosomal positions of these additive QTLs with those previously identified, five additive QTLs, qSNC9, qSKC1, qSKC9, qRKC4 and qSTR7, might represent novel salt tolerance loci. The identification of salt tolerance in selected RILs showed that a major QTL qSNC11 played a significant role in rice salt tolerance, and could be used to improve salt tolerance of commercial rice varieties with marker-assisted selection (MAS) approach.  相似文献

QTL were identified for root architectural traits in maize.

Abstract

Root architectural traits, including the number, length, orientation, and branching of the principal root classes, influence plant function by determining the spatial and temporal domains of soil exploration. To characterize phenotypic patterns and their genetic control, three recombinant inbred populations of maize were grown for 28 days in solid media in a greenhouse and evaluated for 21 root architectural traits, including length, number, diameter, and branching of seminal, primary and nodal roots, dry weight of embryonic and nodal systems, and diameter of the nodal root system. Significant phenotypic variation was observed for all traits. Strong correlations were observed among traits in the same root class, particularly for the length of the main root axis and the length of lateral roots. In a principal component analysis, relationships among traits differed slightly for the three families, though vectors grouped together for traits within a given root class, indicating opportunities for more efficient phenotyping. Allometric analysis showed that trajectories of growth for specific traits differ in the three populations. In total, 15 quantitative trait loci (QTL) were identified. QTL are reported for length in multiple root classes, diameter and number of seminal roots, and dry weight of the embryonic and nodal root systems. Phenotypic variation explained by individual QTL ranged from 0.44 % (number of seminal roots, NyH population) to 13.5 % (shoot dry weight, OhW population). Identification of QTL for root architectural traits may be useful for developing genotypes that are better suited to specific soil environments.  相似文献

Xiangzamian 2 (XZM2) is the most widely cultivated cotton hybrid in China. By crossing two parents Zhongmiansuo 12 and 8891 and upon subsequent selfings, we got F8 and F9 populations having 180 recombinant inbred lines. Ten plant architecture traits were investigated in two years with this population. A genetic map was constructed mainly with SSR markers. Quantitative trait loci (QTL) conditioning plant architecture traits were determined at the single-locus and double-locus levels. The results showed that epistastic effects as well as additive effects of QTL played an important role as the genetic basis of cotton plant architecture. The QTL detected in our research might provide new information on improving plant architecture traits. The polymorphism of molecular markers between ZMS12 and 8891 were quite limited, while significant differences between their phenotypes were found and the hybrid XZM2 expressed high heterosis in yield. All these could be partly explained by the effect of epistatic QTL.  相似文献

QTL mapping and epistasis analysis of brace root traits in maize   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
Root architecture is a major factor influencing root lodging, which limits greater yield stability at high planting density. Total brace root tier number (TBRTN) and effective brace root tier number (EBRTN) are the two most important root architecture traits influencing root lodging. However, the genetic mechanisms that underlie these traits remain poorly understood. In this study, quantitative trait loci (QTL) for TBRTN and EBRTN were mapped using a set of 201 recombinant inbred lines (RILs) and 278 immortalized F2 (IF2) populations derived from these RILs, which were evaluated in three environments. Ten QTL in the RILs and 15 QTL in the IF2 population were detected. In the two populations, we identified two coincident major QTL for TBRTN and a single identical major QTL for EBRTN. The QTL for TBRTN showed the largest additive effect, accounting for 16.36 and 17.88% of the phenotypic variance in the RILs and IF2 population, respectively. Additional epistatic effects were identified for all the maize chromosomes, except for chromosome 4. Most epistatic effects involved pairs of loci that were on different chromosomes. At the same time, we found loci that interacted simultaneously with several other loci to affect expression of the traits, which was particularly evident in the IF2 population. For example, qTAR1-2 interacted simultaneously with qTAR2-1, qTAR3-1, qTAR5-1, and qITAR8-2 to affect the expression of TBRTN. Therefore, a complex network controlling the traits was found in maize. These results provide useful information for understanding the molecular mechanisms controlling root architecture.  相似文献

An effort was made in the present study to identify the main effect and epistatic quantitative trait locus (QTL) for the morphological and yield-related traits in peanut. A recombinant inbred line (RIL) population derived from TAG 24 × GPBD 4 was phenotyped in seven environments at two locations. QTL analysis with available genetic map identified 62 main-effect QTLs (M-QTLs) for ten morphological and yield-related traits with the phenotypic variance explained (PVE) of 3.84–15.06%. Six major QTLs (PVE >?10%) were detected for PLHT, PPP, YPP, and SLNG. Stable M-QTLs appearing in at least two environments were detected for PLHT, LLN, YPP, YKGH, and HSW. Five M-QTLs governed two traits each, and 16 genomic regions showed co-localization of two to four M-QTLs. Intriguingly, a major QTL reported to be linked to rust resistance showed pleiotropic effect for yield-attributing traits like YPP (15.06%, PVE) and SLNG (13.40%, PVE). Of the 24 epistatic interactions identified across the traits, five interactions involved six M-QTLs. Three interactions were additive × additive and remaining two involved QTL × environment (QE) interactions. Only one major M-QTL governing PLHT showed epistatic interaction. Overall, this study identified the major M-QTLs for the important productivity traits and also described the lack of epistatic interactions for majority of them so that they can be conveniently employed in peanut breeding.  相似文献

A population of 294 recombinant inbred lines (RIL) derived from Yuyu22, an elite maize hybrid extending broadly in China, has been constructed to investigate the genetic basis of grain yield, and associated yield components in maize. The main-effect quantitative trait loci (QTL), digenic epistatic interactions, and their interactions with the environment for grain yield and its three components were identified by using the mixed linear model approach. Thirty-two main-effect QTL and forty-four pairs of digenic epistatic interactions were detected for the four measured traits in four environments. Our results suggest that both additive effects and epistasis (additive × additive) effects are important genetic bases of grain yield and its components in the RIL population. Only 30.4% of main-effect QTL for ear length were involved in epistatic interactions. This implies that many loci in epistatic interactions may not have significant effects for traits alone but may affect trait expression by epistatic interaction with the other loci.  相似文献

A linkage map consisting of 158 DNA markers were constructed by using a recombinant inbred line (RIL) population derived from the indica-indica rice cross Zhenshan 97B 2 Milyang 46. Quantitative trait loci (QTLs) conditioning grain yield and five yield component traits were determined at the one-locus and two-locus levels, and genotype-by-environment (GE) interactions were analyzed. Thirty-one QTLs were detected to have significant additive effects for yield traits, of which 12 also exhibited significant epistatic effects. Sixteen significant additive-by-additive (AA) interactions were detected, of which nine occurred between QTLs with own additive effects (MepQTLs), four occurred between QTLs showing epistatic effects only (epQTLs), and three occurred between MepQTLs and epQTLs. Significant GE interactions were found for six QTLs with additive effects and one AA interaction. Generally, the contributions to the phenotypic variation were higher due to QTL main effects than to epistatic effects. The detection of additive effects and AA effects of a QTL interfered with each other, indicating that the detection of QTLs with main effects, as well as the magnitude and directions of the additive effects, might vary depending on their interactions with other loci.  相似文献

Oil content in rapeseed (Brassica napus L.) is generally regarded as a character with high heritability that is negatively correlated with protein content and influenced by plant developmental and yield related traits. To evaluate possible genetic interrelationships between these traits and oil content, QTL for oil content were mapped using data on oil content and on oil content conditioned on the putatively interrelated traits. Phenotypic data were evaluated in a segregating doubled haploid population of 282 lines derived from the F1 of a cross between the old German cultivar Sollux and the Chinese cultivar Gaoyou. The material was tested at four locations, two each in Germany and in China. QTLMapper version 1.0 was used for mapping unconditional and conditional QTL with additive (a) and locus pairs with additive × additive epistatic (aa) effects. Clear evidence was found for a strong genetic relationship between oil and protein content. Six QTL and nine epistatic locus pairs were found, which had pleiotropic effects on both traits. Nevertheless, two QTL were also identified, which control oil content independent from protein content and which could be used in practical breeding programs to increase oil content without affecting seed protein content. In addition, six additional QTL with small effects were only identified in the conditional mapping. Some evidence was apparent for a genetic interrelationship between oil content and the number of seeds per silique but no evidence was found for a genetic relationship between oil content and flowering time, grain filling period or single seed weight. The results indicate that for closely correlated traits conditional QTL mapping can be used to dissect the genetic interrelationship between two traits at the level of individual QTL. Furthermore, conditional QTL mapping can reveal additional QTL with small effects that are undetectable in unconditional mapping.  相似文献

Soybean seed and pod traits are important yield components. Selection for high yield style in seed and pod along with agronomic traits is a goal of many soybean breeders. The intention of this study was to identify quantitative trait loci (QTL) underlying seed and pod traits in soybean among eleven environments in China. 147 recombinant inbred lines were advanced through single-seed-descent method. The population was derived from a cross between Charleston (an American high yield soybean cultivar) and DongNong594 (a Chinese high yield soybean cultivar). A total of 157 polymorphic simple sequence repeat markers were used to construct a genetic linkage map. The phenotypic data of seed and pod traits [number of one-seed pod, number of two-seed pod, number of three-seed pod, number of four-seed pod, number of (two plus three)-seed pod, number of (three plus four)-seed pod, seed weight per plant, number of pod per plant] were recorded in eleven environments. In the analysis of single environment, fourteen main effect QTLs were identified. In the conjoint analysis of multiple environments, twenty-four additive QTLs were identified, and additive QTLs by environments interactions (AE) were evaluated and analyzed at the same time among eleven environments; twenty-three pairs of epistatic QTLs were identified, and epistasis (additive by additive) by environments interactions (AAE) were also analyzed and evaluated among eleven environments. Comparing the results of identification between single environment mapping and multiple environments conjoint mapping, three main effect QTLs with positive additive values and another three main effect QTLs with negative additive values, had no interactions with all environments, supported that these QTLs could be used in molecular assistant breeding in the future. These different effect QTLs could supply a good foundation to the gene clone and molecular asisstant breeding of soybean seed and pod traits.  相似文献

Genetic analyses of nine traits associated with stem water-soluble carbohydrate (SWSC) accumulation and remobilization at grain-filling period under drought stress (DS) and well-watered (WW) conditions were undertaken using doubled haploid lines (DHLs) derived from two Chinese common wheat cultivars. Some significantly and very significantly positive correlation was observed among nine traits associated with SWSC. Higher phenotypic values for most traits were detected under DS. Broad sense heritabilities (h(B)(2)) of the traits showed wide fluctuations between two water treatments. A total of 48 additive and 62 pairs of epistatic QTL for nine traits were identified as distributing on all 21 chromosomes. A majority of QTL involved significant additive and epistatic effects with interactions of QTL and environments (QEIs). Two additive and two pairs of epistatic loci involved only QEIs without corresponding significant additive or epistatic effects. The contributions of the additive QEIs were two- to fourfolds higher than those of their corresponding additive QTL. Most of the additive QEIs for traits associated with SWSC interacted with DS. In addition, some QTL for the grain-filling efficiencies and thousand-grain weight were colocated in the same or adjacent chromosome intervals with QTL for accumulation and remobilization efficiency of SWSC before 14 days after flowering.  相似文献

The productivity of sorghum is mainly determined by quantitative traits such as grain yield and stem sugar-related characteristics. Substantial crop improvement has been achieved by breeding in the last decades. Today, genetic mapping and characterization of quantitative trait loci (QTLs) is considered a valuable tool for trait enhancement. We have investigated QTL associated with the sugar components (Brix, glucose, sucrose, and total sugar content) and sugar-related agronomic traits (flowering date, plant height, stem diameter, tiller number per plant, fresh panicle weight, and estimated juice weight) in four different environments (two locations) using a population of 188 recombinant inbred lines (RILs) from a cross between grain (M71) and sweet sorghum (SS79). A genetic map with 157 AFLP, SSR, and EST-SSR markers was constructed, and several QTLs were detected using composite interval mapping (CIM). Further, additive × additive interaction and QTL × environmental interaction were estimated. CIM identified more than five additive QTLs in most traits explaining a range of 6.0–26.1% of the phenotypic variation. A total of 24 digenic epistatic locus pairs were identified in seven traits, supporting the hypothesis that QTL analysis without considering epistasis can result in biased estimates. QTLs showing multiple effects were identified, where the major QTL on SBI-06 was significantly associated with most of the traits, i.e., flowering date, plant height, Brix, sucrose, and sugar content. Four out of ten traits studied showed a significant QTL × environmental interaction. Our results are an important step toward marker-assisted selection for sugar-related traits and biofuel yield in sorghum.  相似文献

Appropriate heading date and plant height are prerequisites for attaining the desired yield level in rice breeding programs. In this study, we analyzed the genetic bases of heading date and plant height at both single- locus and two-locus levels, using a population of 240 F2:3 families derived from a cross between two elite rice lines. Measurements for the traits were obtained over 2 years in replicated field trials. A linkage map was constructed with 151 polymorphic marker loci, based on which interval mapping was performed using Mapmaker/QTL. The analyses detected six QTLs for plant height and six QTLs for heading date; collectively the QTLs for heading date accounted for a much greater amount of phenotypic variation than did the QTLs for plant height. Two-way analyses of variance, with all possible two-locus combinations, detected large numbers (from 101 to 257) of significant digenic interactions in the 2 years for both traits involving markers distributed in the entire genome; 22 and 39 were simultaneously detected in both years for plant height and heading date, respectively. Each of the interactions individually accounted for only a very small portion of the phenotypic variation. The majority of the significant interactions involved marker loci that did not detect significant effects by single-locus analyses, and many of the QTLs detected by single-locus analyses were involved in epistatic interactions. The results clearly demonstrated the importance of epistatic interactions in the genetic bases of heading date and plant height. Received: 5 May 2001 / Accepted: 3 August 2001  相似文献
