Twenty-two preparations of hearts with preserved atrioventricular canal have been investigated. Primary defect of the interatrial septum is a constant component of this pathological state. The size of the defect defines participation of the atria in formation of the atrioventricular canal. At the same time it is possible to distinguish the following anatomical varieties of abnormal development of the interatrial septum; oblique cleft in the oval fossa, partial absence of the valve in the oval orifice, perforation of the valve in the oval orifice, complete absence of the valve in the oval orifice and certain defects of the interatrial septum situating beyond the oval fossa limits.  相似文献

Thirty-one hearts with anomalous conotruncus (common arterial trunk, hypoplasia of the aorta with transposition, atresia of the pulmonary trunk) have been studied. There are some peculiarities in anatomy and topography of the coronary sinus, concerning its sources, that is veins forming the venous sinus, position and interrelations with the venous sulcus and with the interatrial septum, size and form of the ostium and valve of the coronary sinus. The most amount of the anatomical peculiarities of the sinus are observed in the preparations, where the anomalous conotruncus is combined with absence of one or both cardiac septa.  相似文献

A 74-year-old man after multiple mitral valve surgeries underwent catheter ablation of a bi-atrial tachycardia (BiAT). Ultra-high resolution activation mapping exhibited a reentrant circuit propagating around the inferior to anterior mitral annulus and right atrial (RA) septum with two interatrial connections. At the transeptal puncture site, continuous fractionated electrograms were recorded during the BiAT, and entrainment pacing revealed a post-pacing interval similar to the tachycardia cycle length, which suggested that the interatrial conduction from the RA to the left atrium (LA) was located just at the transseptal puncture site. A radiofrequency application inside the transseptal puncture hole could successfully eliminate the BiAT. The ablation target for BiATs propagating around the mitral annulus and RA septum is generally the anatomical mitral isthmus (MI). Since the present case had multiple incisions on both the RA and LA septum due to mitral valve surgeries, there was the possibility of the occurrence of a BiAT including the RA and LA septum after performing an MI linear ablation. Therefore, the preferable ablation target for the BiAT in the present case appeared to be the interatrial connection. Ultra-high resolution detailed mapping not only on the atrial endocardium but also in the transseptal puncture hole may be useful for identifying a critical interatrial connection of BiAT circuits.  相似文献

The septum primum in the mouse originates as a thickened primordium with a straight rather than a sickle-shaped ventral border. It is covered on its ventral border by anterior cushion material which is continuous over the roof of the atrium with the principal anterior cushion mass. A process of cavitation thins the septum primum and precedes actual fenestration. This process shifts the membranous septum to the left thereby providing room for the septum secundum to overlap on the right side. The septum primum cannot contact the posterior cushion until closure of the sinus venosus gutter which is described. The closure of the interatrial foramen, later the foramen primum, is accomplished by cell growth of the anterior cushion material. The ventral thick border of the septum primum contributes to the ventral limbus and the caudal thickened boundary of the fossa ovalis with some contribution from the left venous valve. These boundaries as well as the membranous portion of the interatrial septum are derived from the same primordium, namely the septum primum.  相似文献

The development of the atrioventricular node and bundle of His of embryonic chick hearts was studied by electrophysiological and morphological techniques. The dorsal wall of the AV canal and the interatrial septum were explored to determine if they contribute to the formation of the AV node and bundle of His. The resting membrane and action potentials of the interatrial septum cells were systematically analyzed and found to undergo progressive differentiation with development. The earliest identification of the AV node and upper bundle of His group of cells was achieved at 5 1/2-6 days of development by the electrical recording of their corresponding characteristic action potentials, from a circumscribed area located in the lowest and dorsal segment of the interatrial septum. The morphological and anatomical characterization of the cells was made following electrical recording and labelling with charcoal particles. The earlier AV node and bundle of His responses had similar characteristics to those of the adult heart. It is concluded that the AV node and upper bundle of His cells derive from the low interatrial septum. The possibility that AV canal cells contribute to this event was discarded. The functional relationship of the Av node and bundle of His with other cardiac tissues during the early development of the heart is discussed.  相似文献

A net-like structure of unknown function found at the junction of the umbilical vein and the left hepatic vein of the 16-day chick embryo is described. The net consists of strands of mesenchyme tissue covered by an endothelial layer continuous with that of the blood vessels in which it is located. An unusual feature of the net is the presence, at certain points where the strands meet, of hollow spherical or ellipsoid bodies, the walls of which are formed from a layer of simple cuboidal epithelium arranged upon a well defined basal lamina. The cavity of these bodies appears to contain some non-cellular material but they have no obvious duct to their exterior. The embryological origin of the net and its possible functions are discussed.  相似文献

In two patients with atypical myxomas of the left atrium, two-dimensional echocardiography furnished valuable diagnostic information. In one patient, who had previously developed an embolism at the right brachial artery, M-mode echocardiography revealed an abnormal band of echoes within the left atrium. Two-dimensional echocardiography showed a globular cluster of echoes that remained within the left atrial cavity throughout the cardiac cycle; left ventricular angiography confirmed the ultrasonic findings of an intraatrial mass. At surgery, a calcified, nonprolapsing myxoma was excised from the interatrial septum. The second patient had clinical as well as M-mode echographic features of mitral stenosis. Cardiac catheterization showed a significant gradient across the mitral valve, but the left ventriculogram was normal except for an unusual pattern of mitral regurgitation. Subsequent two-dimensional echocardiography revealed a mass of echoes that prolapsed through the mitral valve during diastole. At surgery, a left atrial myxoma was found attached to the posterior mitral annulus. Our experience indicates that two-dimensional ultrasound is superior to conventional echocardiography for detecting unusual cardiac masses.  相似文献

We studied the morphology of the atrioventricular conduction system (AVCS) and Purkinje fibers of the yak. Light and transmission electron microscopy were used to study the histological features of AVCS. The distributional characteristics of the His‐bundle, the left bundle branch (LBB), right bundle branch (RBB), and Purkinje fiber network of yak hearts were examined using gross dissection, ink injection, and ABS casting. The results showed that the atrioventricular node (AVN) of yak located in the right side of interatrial septum and had a flattened ovoid shape. The AVN of yak is composed of the slender, interweaving cells formed almost entirely of the transitional cells (T‐cells). The His‐bundle extended from the AVN, and split into left LBB and RBB at the crest of the interventricular septum. The LBB descended along the left side of interventricular septum. At approximately the upper 1/3 of the interventricular septum, the LBB typically divided into three branches. The RBB ran under the endocardium of the right side of interventricular septum, and extended to the base of septal papillary muscle, passed into the moderator band, crossed the right ventricular cavity to reach the base of anterior papillary muscle, and divided into four fascicles under the subendocardial layer. The Purkinje fibers in the ventricle formed a complex spatial network. The distributional and cellular component characteristics of the AVCS and Purkinje fibers ensured normal cardiac function.  相似文献

Paraganglion-like structures (PLS) containing chromaffin-positive cells have been reported to be present in the adult human heart. The present work was initiated in order to evaluate the density of these structures in the interatrial septum and to study the presence of immunoreactivity of their cells to NSE and PGP 9,5 antibodies, two neuroendocrine markers. Six hundred 6-microns paraffin serial sections were obtained from the upper third of the interatrial septum from six adult human hearts. From 2 to 12 paraganglia were found in each case, and their principal cells stained positively with NSE and PGP 9,5 antibodies. Depending on how these PLS related to other cardiac structures, four different types were identified: Type I - "True paraganglia" (located adjacent to ganglia or nerve fibers); Type II - "Free paraganglia" (immersed in the interatrial adipose tissue, without evident connection to other structures); Type III - "Intraganglionic paraganglia" (located within the nervous ganglia); Type IV - "Intramyocardic paraganglia" (small nests of immunoreactive cells closely related to myocardiocyte bundles). These cardiac paraganglia, which probably belong to the visceral-autonomic group, may have a role in the regulation of the cardiac function and in the adaptive mechanisms of the heart. Its is also possible that they originate functioning and non-functioning tumours.  相似文献

A number of important differences can be found between the left ventricle (LV) and right ventricle (RV) of the heart under physiological conditions. In anatomy, the most important is probably the architecture of the atrioventricular valve and its annulus. The LV has a mitral valve (with two cusps) and a firm annulus, while the RV has a tricuspid valve with a greater total area, but relatively small cuspid areas, and an elastic annulus. The difference in the blood supply is important. Owing to high intramural pressure, the coronary flow in the wall of the LV occurs only during the diastole; in the RV it is limited only in the presence of a significant increase in intracavitary pressure. The LV myocardium is functionally "accustomed" to short-term marked changes in the systolic load (in extreme static exercise the arterial pressure rises for a short time to three times the normal value), while the RV is adapted to changes in the diastolic load (marked filling changes associated with deep breathing, for instance). The difference in the response to a long-term volume load is difficult to evaluate: between a defect of the interatrial septum and aortic insufficiency there are too many differences. A long-term pressure load seems to be tolerated better by the right ventricle: patients with severe pulmonary stenosis and a pressure six times higher than the physiological value have lived 25 years and patients with isolated corrected L-transposition of the great arteries can reach 35 years without any signs of impaired RV function.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)  相似文献

Anomalous pulmonary venous drainage to the inferior vena cava is a rare congenital cardiac defect. Oxygenated blood from the right lung enters the right atrium resulting in a left-to-right shunt. Because the radiographic shadow of the anomalous vein resembles a curved saber, this defect has been called the "scimitar" deformity. From 1958 through June 30, 1975, 11 patients underwent surgical correction of this anomaly at our institution with 10 survivors. Diagnosis was made by routine roentgenography of the chest in all but one patient. Eight patients had total correction which consisted of implanting the anomalous vein into the right atrium, opening the interatrial septum and applying a patch graft as a baffle to direct pulmonary venous blood into the left atrium. Five patients had associated cardiac defects which were also repaired. Three patients underwent pneumonectomy and all survived. The only operative death occurred in a 5-year-old female with an atrial septal defect and endocardial cushion defect. We believe the existence of a large left-to-right shunt justifies surgical intervention. The prognosis appears to depend upon the presence of other cardiac or pulmonary anomalies.  相似文献

Angiograms of 110 preparations of the human hearts at various ages have been studied. In order to reveal vessels of the coronary bed, roentgen contrast lead mass has been used. Peculiarities of vascularization have been described in all parts of the interatrial septum and in the fossa ovalis area at various variants of branching of the atrial vessels: right coronary, left coronary and even. With age, in the fossa ovalis area certain decrease in the number of the blood vessels is observed and the network they form becomes less dense. In the interatrial septum its middle part and the fossa ovalis area are the regions which contain the least amount of vessels. In the antero-inferior part of this septum a comparatively dense vascular network is revealed.  相似文献

The microscopic anatomy and ultrastructure of the body cavity and adjacent organs in the sea spider Nymphon brevirostre Hodge, 1863 (Pycnogonida, Nymphonidae) were examined by transmission electron microscopy. The longitudinal septa subdividing the body cavity are described: (1) Dohrn’s horizontal septum, (2) lateral heart walls, and (3) paired ventral septa consisting of separate cellular bands. The body cavity is a hemocoel, it has no epithelial lining and is only bordered by a basal lamina. The epidermis, heart, and Dohrn’s septum are not separated from each other by basal laminae and may have a common origin. The cellular bands forming the longitudinal ventral septa are not covered with the basal lamina and presumably derive from cells belonging to the hemocoel. The roles of the morphological structures studied for the circulation of hemolymph are discussed. The gonad lies inside Dohrn’s septum, it is covered with its own basal lamina and surrounded by numerous lacunae of the hemocoel entering the septum. The gonad wall is formed with a single layer of epithelium. The same epithelial cells form the gonad stroma. The gonad cavity is not lined with the basal lamina; muscle cells are present in the gonad wall epithelium, thus rendering the lumen similar to a coelomic cavity. Freely circulating cells of two types are found in the hemocoel: small amebocytes containing electronic-dense granules that are similar to granulocytes of other arthropods, as well as hemocytes with large vacuoles of varying structure that are comparable with plasmatocytes; however some of these may be activated granulocytes.  相似文献

There is strong evidence that NADPH-diaphorase can be used as a marker for neurones that employ nitric oxide as a messenger molecule. In the present study, the NADPH-diaphorase activity of intracardiac neurones and nerve terminals in whole-mount stretch preparations and sections of the newborn and adult guinea-pig atria and interatrial septum has been examined histochemically. Together with epicardial, endothelial and endocardial cells, which displayed some NADPH-diaphorase staining, a subpopulation of intracardiac neurones exhibited moderate-heavy labelling for NADPH-diaphorase, while the majority of neurones were only lightly stained or negative. Intracardiac ganglia containing positive neuronal cell bodies were located between the epicardial cells and atrial myocytes in four main regions: in association with the superior and inferior vena cavae, the points of entry of the pulmonary veins, and within the interatrial septum. Nerve terminals exhibiting NADPH-diaphorase activity were seen throughout the atrial tissue, forming basket-like endings around intracardiac neuronal cell bodies; varicose terminals were also observed on atrial myocytes and other non-neuronal structures. A proportion of the nerve fibres was clearly of intrinsic origin, other terminals may well have originated from neuronal cell bodies present outside the heart.  相似文献

Summary Serial histological sections of the interatrial septum and basal heart vessels of the weaned and juvenile white-belly opossum (Didelphis albiventris) were obtained in order to study the presence of paraganglia and their content of regulatory peptides and serotonin. Paraganglion groups were mapped between the aorta and pulmonary arteries and close to the bifurcation of the pulmonary trunk and were found to contain cells with immunoreactivity to serotonin and to the neuroendocrine markers PGP 9.5 and NSE. When these paraganglia were tested for immunoreactivity to a battery of regulatory peptides, all were found to be positive for methionin-enkephalin, leucine-enkephalin and galanin. The hypothesis is raised that these peptides and serotonin, besides catecholamines, produced by these paraganglia may play a physiological role in the functions of the cardiovascular system of the white-belly opossum.Work supported by grants from FINEP and CNPq (Brazil).  相似文献

The mesopneumonia and the post‐hepatic septum of the Teiioidea (Reptilia: Squamata). —Acta Zoologica (Stockholm) 81 : 109–119 This study investigates the structure of the pleuroperitoneal cavity of Teiioidea. Seven of nine genera of Teiidae and eight of 35 genera of Gymnophthalmidae were dissected and the results are presented in a highly schematic two‐dimensional representation. The main anatomical differences between the two families are (1) the presence of a hepatic ligament which fuses with the pericardiaco‐peritoneal septum in the Gymnophthalmidae but not in the Teiidae; (2) the presence of a ventral mesopneumonium on the right side in the Gymnophthalmidae, while this structure is secondarily lacking in the Teiidae; (3) that the post‐hepatic septum of Teiidae consists of a bipartite hepatic ligament and the ventral mesentery, while in gymnophthalmids the hepatic ligament remains undivided. Neusticurus and Echinosaura completely lack a post‐hepatic septum. The results are consistent with the hypothesis that the Gymnophthalmidae are primitive within the Teiioidea and that the Tupinambinae are the most highly derived teiids. We propose that the post‐hepatic septum may restrict passive visceral movement during breathing, thereby increasing the efficiency of respiratory effort; a modification that could benefit the fitness of active, predatory teiids.  相似文献

At modelling a congenital heart failure--defect of the interatrial septum during late stages of the experiment, dilatation of the pulmonary artery and certain changes in the microcirculatory bed of the lungs, oesophagus, stomach and colon are observed. It has been demonstrated histologically and morphometrically that in adaptive reactions of the blood bed an important role belongs to the arteriolar part and metabolic link of the microcirculatory bed of the organs investigated. The changes in the pulmonary vessels are insufficiently expressed and possibility of hypertension in the lesser circulation is not great.  相似文献

Previous studies have shown that Bacillus subtilis cells lacking penicillin-binding protein 1 (PBP1), encoded by ponA, have a reduced growth rate in a variety of growth media and are longer, thinner, and more bent than wild-type cells. It was also recently shown that cells lacking PBP1 require increased levels of divalent cations for growth and are either unable to grow or grow as filaments in media low in Mg2+, suggesting a possible involvement of PBP1 in septum formation under these conditions. Using epitope-tagging and immunofluorescence microscopy, we have now shown that PBP1 is localized at division sites in vegetative cells of B. subtilis. In addition, we have used fluorescence and electron microscopy to show that growing ponA mutant cells display a significant septation defect, and finally by immunofluorescence microscopy we have found that while FtsZ localizes normally in most ponA mutant cells, a significant proportion of ponA mutant cells display FtsZ rings with aberrant structure or improper localization, suggesting that lack of PBP1 affects FtsZ ring stability or assembly. These results provide strong evidence that PBP1 is localized to and has an important function in the division septum in B. subtilis. This is the first example of a high-molecular-weight class A PBP that is localized to the bacterial division septum.  相似文献

无尾两栖类动物的呼吸方式为肺呼吸和皮肤辅助呼吸,为探究两种呼吸器官的显微结构,本文采用解剖学和组织学的方法,对大蹼铃蟾(Bombina maxima)、腺角蟾(Megophrys glandulosa)、中华蟾蜍(Bufo gargarizans)、华西雨蛙(Hyla gongshanensis)、昭觉林蛙(Rana chaochiaoensis)、滇蛙(Dianrana pleuraden)、双团棘胸蛙(Gynandropaa yunnanensis)、贡山树蛙(Rhacophorus gongshanensis)、斑腿泛树蛙(Polypedates megacephalus)、饰纹姬蛙(Microhyla fissipes)、多疣狭口蛙(Kaloula verrucosa)的皮肤和肺的形态及显微结构进行观察。结果显示,背部和腹部皮下可见血管交错成网状,皮肤由表皮层和真皮层构成。除华西雨蛙外,其余10种均有分布于真皮疏松层与致密层间的钙化层;色素细胞位于疏松层上层,体背色素层较发达。肺囊状,中空密布血管,分为大小相当的左右肺叶,两肺叶相通并与心粘连,无气管和支气管。肺由肺囊壁、隔膜、毛细血管、肺泡细胞等结构组成。肺囊壁分为胸膜层、中间层和内层:胸膜层由扁平细胞构成,中间层由结缔组织构成,内层由肺细胞和毛细血管组成,隔膜由毛细血管和结缔组织构成,游离隔膜向中部靠拢可形成半封闭腔室,结合隔膜与肺囊壁形成封闭小腔室。在这11个物种中,肺较发达的个体,其皮肤结构中黏液腺的数量就会相对较少,组织形态学特征表现出与环境适应性关系较大,而受到系统发育关系影响较小。  相似文献

Abstract:  Two genera of tube-bearing antillocaprinid rudist bivalves from the Maastrichtian of Jamaica are recognised: Titanosarcolites Trechmann and Parasarcolites gen. nov. Titanosarcolites is recumbent, broadly equivalve and coils parallel to the myocardinal line, with tubes on the anteriodorsal, anterior, and anterioventral regions of the inner layer; there are two teeth and two teeth-like myophores in the left valve. Sockets for teeth have conical tabulae, those for myophores are filled with normal shell structure. A ligamental cavity is lacking. Parasarcolites is recumbent, with equal, subequal or moderately inequal valves, and the plane of coiling is at an angle of 34–63 degrees to the mediocardinal line. It has tubes in the dorsal and anterior-dorsal regions, and a myocardinal structure with blade like myophores, with the posterior tooth and socket strongly flattened. The position of the ligament is indicated by a comma-shaped cavity situated dorsalwards of the posterior tooth. Additional toothlets are present in the left valve. All sockets are filled with canal-bearing shell-structure. Five new species of Parasarcolites are described from the Upper Maastrichtian of Jamaica: Parasarcolites atkinsoni , P. baileyi , P. greeni , P. monotubularis and P. quadratus .  相似文献
