There was studied effect of intraperitoneally administered adrenaline (0.14 mg/kg) on volume and time characteristics of feeding (duration of single, grouped, and total nutrition) of goldfish Carassius auratus (L.) previously maintained on normal and restricted (for 10 and 15 days) diet. The fish on restricted diet demonstrated the biphasic alimentary response to the adrenaline administration, similar with that in the normally fed fish: a decrease of volume, duration of the grouped and total feeding at the first phase of action of hormone and an increase--at the second phase; however, the value of the response at the first phase of the hormone action was lower, whereas at the second phase--higher than in the fish obtaining a sufficient amount of food prior to the experiment. Duration of the single feeding rose in fish of all groups including the control one, the maximum increase being observed in the goldfish submitted to food deprivation. The glycogen content in hepatopancreas of the normally fed goldfish exceeded by the end of the experiment 4.5-6 times that in the food-deprived ones. The obtained results confirm suggestion that a decrease of the level of reserve substances in the body leads to a decrease of the fish receptivity to the stress hormone--adrenaline and, hence, to a change of the value of its effects on the food-searching goldfish activity, with preservation of dynamics of the parameters.  相似文献

The effect of intraperitoneal injections of epinephrine (0.14 and 0.70 mg/kg) on some characteristics of feeding activity (ration and total time of feeding) as well as on motion patterns (time of swimming in group and separately) in juvenile goldfish has been investigated. Two-phase (short-term decrease in the first phase, increase in the second one) feeding response under both doses of epinephrine has been revealed. More pronounced effect of epinephrine at the dose of 0.14 mg/kg on the ration and time of feeding (comparing to the dose of 0.70 mg/kg and Ringer injection) was observed in the second phase. Furthermore, significant decrease of time of "separated" swimming in the first phase under both doses of the hormone is revealed. The hyperglycemic response induced by the injections of epinephrine, with synchronous reduction of the concentration of glycogen in hepatopancreas allows to suggest that glycogen-phosphorylase activating mechanism was underlying the "first-phase" change of feeding reactions of goldfish.  相似文献

.Nile tilapia Oreochromis niloticus , initial age 12 days, were given an unrestricted (NR) or restricted (R) ration over 93 days which resulted in fish of very different sizes although the body condition factor ( K ) and the viscero-somatic index ( I V) remained almost unchanged. In a second stage (64 days) each group (NR & R) was divided into three subgroups that were subjected to 0 (NR0, R0), 15 (NR15, R15) and 30 (NR30, R30) days of food restriction, respectively. The impact of the different treatments on the somatic growth during the second stage of the experiment had an effect, with a highly significant difference between the mean ± S.D. masses ( M T) in the different subgroups (NR0= 115.0 ± 26.6 g; NR15 = 94.8 ± 24.9 g; NR30 = 56.3 ± 28 g; R0 = 76.4 ± 20.1 g; R15 = 72.l ± 17.6 g; R30 = 43.6 ± 17.2 g). Similarly, K and I V decreased. Irrespective of the initial feeding condition, the width of the otolith microincrements started to decrease at the end of the first or second day of restricted feeding. In the subgroups given a restricted food ration for 30 days (NR30 and R30), this decrease reached a plateau at about day 30, which was maintained even when the restriction had ended. This slowed growth did not lead to any marked halt in microincrement formation, since there were no significant differences (ANOVA; P >0.05) in the numbers of increments counted in the various subgroups. The results show that in 153 day old fish, a period of severe food restriction, even if prolonged (15 to 30 days), had no influence on the timing of the laying down of microincrements but only affected their growth.  相似文献

The measurement of individual food consumption rates of fish held in groups using radiography has enabled the development of a new approach to fish nutrition trials. In order to compare diets, groups of individually numbered fish are fed different experimental diets over extended periods of time (similar to standard nutrition trials) and food consumption rates are measured regularly over the course of the experiment. Analysis of covariance is then used to compare regression coefficients, obtained from mean consumption-growth relationships, from each diet. The advantages of the approach are several: (1) differences in appetite between fish fed different diets are monitored; (2) fewer fish are needed to establish consumption-growth curves over a large range of consumption rates; (3) measured food consumption rates, not ration levels, are used to calculate 'true' growth efficiencies; and (4) other factors, such as absorption efficiency, trypsin activity, the concentration of free amino acids in tissues and protein turnover can be measured for individual fish and related to differences in food consumption between fish in the same group. The approach has been used successfully with a variety of species to compare the growth response of groups fed two or more diets.  相似文献

The organization of the food-procuring behavior inMacaca mulatto was studied under conditions of the time deficit. It has been shown that if the duration of performance of the alimentary behavior in the animals is restricted by 8 s, four ways of individual arrangement of their activity are observed: (1) stabilization of time intervals between the acts performed; (2) shift of the effectiveness of performance from the instrumental phase to the consumatory one of the reflex in the same animal in different experiments; (3) in the case of an individual experiment: an increased effectiveness of performance of one act (the instrumental or consumatory one) and a decreased effectiveness of the other; (4) an abrupt change in the tactics of motor responsiveness. All the behavioral phenomena revealed are believed to be connected with a voluntary and goal-oriented strive of the monkeys to obtain the maximal amount of food under the conditions of time deficit by way of the active (directly in the experiment) or latent (at the intersignal period) reorganization of their activity program. Otter diet in reservoirs is known to experience seasonal changes. We selected a reservoir with a large population of exclusively wintering great cormorants and seasonal changes in stored water volume to test the relative influence of abiotic and biotic factors on otter foraging ecology. DNA metabarcoding of otter spraints revealed a dietary change from autumn to winter. Otters had a diet dominated by the exotic goldfish in autumn, but predated intensively on the native northern straight-mouth nase in winter. This change was likely caused by predation of cormorants on goldfish and to fish biology. Secondly, macroscopic analysis of spraints revealed that otters shifted from a diet dominated by fish (in terms of biomass) to a diet dominated by red swamp crayfish during spring–summer, when the latter became overabundant. As revealed by modelling, this second shift was most likely influenced by the sudden increase in stored water volume in spring, but also by the cumulative effect of cormorant predation on fish during autumn–winter. Macroscopic analyses of otter spraints collected in a second reservoir with no cormorants revealed a lack of seasonality. Hence, the combined influence of both biotic and abiotic factors explained otter diet seasonality in a lentic-water novel ecosystem.

Regulation of food intake by neuropeptide Y in goldfish   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
In mammals, neuropeptide Y (NPY) is a potent orexigenic factor. In the present study, third brain ventricle (intracerebroventricular) injection of goldfish NPY (gNPY) caused a dose-dependent increase in food intake in goldfish, and intracerebroventricular administration of NPY Y1-receptor antagonist BIBP-3226 decreased food intake; the actions of gNPY were blocked by simultaneous injection of BIBP-3226. Goldfish maintained on a daily scheduled feeding regimen display an increase in NPY mRNA levels in the telencephalon-preoptic area and hypothalamus shortly before feeding; however, a decrease occured in optic tectum-thalamus. In both fed and unfed fish, brain NPY mRNA levels decreased after scheduled feeding. Restriction in daily food ration intake for 1 wk or food deprivation for 72 h resulted in increased brain NPY mRNA levels. Results from these studies demonstrate that NPY is a physiological brain signal involved in feeding behavior in goldfish, mediating its effects, at least in part, through Y1-like receptors in the brain.  相似文献

We examined the possible adaptation of the dwarf Bleke population of Atlantic salmon Salmo salar from Lake Byglandsfjord in southern Norway to limited food resources. The growth performance and muscle development in juvenile Bleke and farmed S. salar under satiated or restricted (50%) feeding were examined for 10 months, starting 3 weeks after first-feeding stage. Four-thousand fish were divided into four replicated groups and random samples of 16–40 fish per group were measured six times during the experiment. The two strains showed no significant difference in mean body mass when fed restricted ration, but the individual variation was considerably higher in the farmed fish. Both Bleke and farmed S. salar grew significantly faster when fed to satiation, but the farmed S. salar showed much higher gain in mass and were three times heavier (201.5 g vs 66.7 g) and possessed twice as many fast muscle fibres (179,682 vs 84,779) compared with landlocked S. salar after 10 months. Farmed fish fed full ration displayed both hypertrophic and hyperplasic muscle growth, while the increased growth in Bleke S. salar was entirely associated with a larger fibre diameter. The landlocked Bleke strain has apparently adapted to low food availability by minimising the metabolic costs of maintenance and growth through reduced dominance hierarchies and by an increase in average muscle fibre diameter relative to the ancestral condition.  相似文献

The habituation of exploration of a goldfish, Carassius auratus, by paradise fish, Macropodus opercularis, was examined. A first encounter of at least 1 min was necessary for habituation to be found in a second encounter 3 h later. When the paradise fish were allowed 5 min to explore the goldfish and the second encounters were staged between 3 h and 3 months later, persistent habituation was found. The relation between memories formed during encounters with other species and modelling of the environment by the paradise fish is discussed.  相似文献

Summary Growth and bioenergetics of the last instar larvae of Achaea janata fed on a wide range of rations of leaves of Ricinus communis (ad libitum to 50 or 100 mg leaf per larva per day) at 22, 27, 32 and 35° C were studied. Increase in larval mortality, extension of larval duration and decrease in final body weight were some of the adverse effects of restricted rations. Whereas larval duration was influenced by ration level, pupal period was dependent on temperature. The larvae partially compensated for restricted rations by enhancing feeding rate over the limit expected in proportion to the ration offered. The level of compensation was higher at 27° C. Influence of temperature or its interaction with ration on assimilation efficiency was more significant than the independent influence of ration; the efficiency ranged from 57 to 67%. Restriction of ration below a critical level (300 mg/larva/day at 35° C and 200 mg/larva/day at other temperatures) significantly influenced the net conversion efficiency; the lowest efficiency of 1.3% was recorded for the larvae fed 100 mg leaf/day. Energy content of the terminal larva determined the percentage of energy transferred to the imago, which ranged from 37 to 55% of the terminal larval energy.  相似文献

Synopsis A literature review showed that numerous studies have dealt with the estimation of fish daily ration in the field. Comparisons of results from different studies are often difficult due to the use of different approaches and methods for parameter estimations. The objective of the present study was to compare the most commonly used approaches to estimate fish daily ration and to propose a standardized procedure for their estimation in the field. Comparisons were based on a field experiment specifically designed to investigate these questions and on data and theoretical considerations found in the literature. The results showed that (1) the gut fullness computed with entire digestive tract content is preferable to the stomach content only, supporting recent research done on other fish species; (2) it is important to consider the data distribution before estimating parameters; (3) estimates of experimental evacuation rates should be used rather than maximum evacuation rate for species showing no feeding periodicity; (4) it is necessary to exclude parasites from gut content in the computation of daily ration as they may significantly decrease daily ration estimates (by an average of 29.3% in this study); and (5) the Eggers (1977) model is as appropriate as, and less complex than, the Elliott & Persson (1978) model for estimating fish daily ration in the field, again supporting recent experiments done on other fish species.  相似文献

腺苷三磷酸结合盒转运蛋白(ATP-binding cassette transporter,ABC transporter)基因家族在原核生物和真核生物中广泛存在,该家族蛋白能够利用ATP裂解产生的能量将多种底物转运到膜上,参与多种生物过程,如营养摄入、细胞解毒、脂质稳态、信号转导、病毒防御以及抗原呈递等。目前,鱼类中,只在斑马鱼、斑点叉尾鮰和鲤鱼等少数鱼类中对该基因家族进行了系统的研究,关于金鱼ABC转运蛋白基因家族的详细分析,未见报道。本研究中,我们利用三代结合二代测序技术构建的金鱼转录组参考基因集数据,鉴定出55个ABC转运蛋白基因,通过系统进化分析将它们分为8个亚家族(A^H)。即金鱼ABC转运蛋白基因是由10个ABCA、14个ABCB、13个ABCC、5个ABCD、1个ABCE、4个ABCF、7个ABCG和1个ABCH组成。同时,我们将金鱼与斑马鱼、斑点叉尾鮰和鲤鱼等物种ABC转运蛋白基因家族成员的数目进行比较分析,推测硬骨鱼类特异的第3次全基因复制(3R-WGD)和谱系特异的第4次全基因组复制(4R-WGD)对金鱼该基因家族成员数目的影响。本研究结果为金鱼ABC转运蛋白基因功能的研究提供了理论依据。  相似文献

The effect of controlling food intake during the autumn, which is the time of late vitellogenesis, on fecundity, atresia and follicle and ovary growth was examined for plaice Pleuronectes platessa . Eighteen fish were kept in individual pens and either fed on a high or low ration diet. Fish which increased in whole body condition exhibited an increase in carcass condition which means that when food intake is sufficient to maintain whole body condition some resources are used as storage. Follicle growth rate was positively correlated with change in Fulton's condition and total atresia was negatively correlated with change in Fulton's condition. Thus, the rate of vitellogenesis was dependent on the availability of an exogenous food source. Fecundity at the end of the experiment was positively correlated with mass and total length. Food intake had no effect on relative fecundity; however, fish which had a lower food intake lost mass and had a greater intensity of atresia, lowering their absolute fecundity. One fish in a very low condition at the start of the experiment skipped spawning and one fish exhibited a decrease in average follicle diameter during the experiment which is hypothesized to be a prelude to mass atresia.  相似文献

Intracerebroventricular (ICV) injection of melanin-concentrating hormone (MCH) influences feeding behavior in the goldfish and exerts an anorexigenic action in goldfish brain, unlike its orexigenic action in mammals. Despite a growing body of knowledge concerning MCH function in mammals, the role of MCH in appetite has not yet been well studied in fish. The aim of the present study was to investigate the involvement of endogenous MCH in the feeding behavior of the goldfish. We examined the distribution of MCH-like immunoreactivity (MCH-LI) in the goldfish brain and the effect of feeding status upon this distribution. Neuronal cell bodies containing MCH-LI were localized specifically to four areas of the hypothalamus. Nerve fibers with MCH-LI were found mainly in the neurohypophysis, with a few in the telencephalon, mesencephalon, and diencephalon. The number of neuronal cell bodies containing MCH-LI in the dorsal area adjoining the lateral recess of the third ventricle in the posterior and inferior lobes of the hypothalamus showed a significant decrease in fasted fish compared with that in normally fed fish, although other areas showed no evident differences. We also administered an antiserum against fish MCH (anti-MCH serum) by ICV injection and examined its immunoneutralizing effect on food intake by using an automatic monitoring system. Cumulative food intake was significantly increased by ICV injection of the anti-MCH serum. These results indicate that MCH potentially functions as an anorexigenic neuropeptide in the goldfish brain, and that the further study of the evolutionary background of the MCH system and its role in appetite is warranted. Predation is a strong selective force acting on both morphology and behaviour of prey animals. While morphological defences (e.g. crypsis, presence of armours or spines or specific body morphologies) and antipredator behaviours (e.g. change in foraging or reproductive effort, or hiding and fleeing behaviours) have been widely studied separately, few studies have considered the interplay between the two. The question raised in our study is whether antipredator behaviours of a prey fish to predator odours could be influenced by the morphology of prey conspecifics in the diet of the predator. We used goldfish (Carassius auratus) as our test species; goldfish exposed to predation risk significantly increase their body depth to length ratio, which gives them a survival advantage against gape‐limited predators. We exposed shallow‐bodied and deep‐bodied goldfish to the odour of pike (Esox lucius) fed either form of goldfish. Deep‐bodied goldfish displayed lower intensity antipredator responses than shallow‐bodied ones, consistent with the hypothesis that individuals with morphological defences should exhibit less behavioural modification than those lacking such defences. Moreover, both shallow‐ and deep‐bodied goldfish displayed their strongest antipredator responses when exposed to the odour of pike fed conspecifics of their own morphology, indicating that goldfish are able to differentiate the morphology of conspecifics through predator diet cues. For a given individual, predator threat increases as the prey become more like the individual eaten, revealing a surprising level of sophistication of chemosensory assessment by prey fish.  相似文献

Haematocrits were measured in goldfish, Carassius auratus L., collected in early spring and late summer from two locations in southern Ontario, Canada. At one location (Hamilton Harbour) the goldfish population suffered an epizootic of haemorrhagic lesions resulting in chronic anaemia, and at the second location (Cambridge) the goldfish population was disease-free; haematocrits of the feral fish were compared with values obtained from a commercial breeding stock (CBS), and with published haematocrit values for cyprinid fish. Haematocrits in males were larger than in females in all collections of feral fish except spring-caught (7–15°C ambient temperature) fish from Cambridge; no sex differences were evident in the immature CBS fish. Haematocrits were higher in feral female goldfish collected from higher ambient temperatures (15–25°C) than in comparable fish collected from lower ambient temperatures (4–15°C) at both collection sites, and also in males collected from Cambridge. Conversely, the haematocrit in the CBS fish was significantly decreased in fish transferred from 12 to 21°C. Haematocrits of the healthy (Cambridge) population were significantly larger than in comparable fish from Hamilton Harbour.  相似文献

Teleosts from different families and orders were used as materials for nuclear transplantation experiments. (1) The nuclei of goldfish (Carassius auratus, family Cyprinidae, order Cypriniformes) were transplanted into the enucleated egg cytoplasm of loach (Paramisgurnus dabryanus, family Cobitidae, order Cypriniformes) and vice-versa. (2) The nuclei of Tilapia (oreochromis nilotica, order Perciformes) were transplanted into the enucleated egg cytoplasm of goldfish (Carassius auratus, order Cypriniformes). The chromosome number of the nucleus donor fish is different from that of the cytoplasmic recipient fish in each of the two combinations. In the first case, only a few early nucleo-cytoplasmic hybrid (NCH) larval fish were obtained in each combination. In second case, even though a high percentage of NCH blastulas were also obtained, the majority of them died at the same developmental stage, except a few which survived until early gastrula stage. The examination of the metaphase chromosome figures of the NCH blastulas or embryos obtained in all three combinations indicated that they were of nucleus-donor type. The developmental rates of all the NCH eggs were similar to those of cytoplasmic-recipient type. Scanning electronmicroscopy examination showed that the morphology of NCH blastula cells, which were obtained from the combination of Tilapia nucleus and goldfish cytoplasm, manifested obviously abnormal features and the cells were arrested at different stages of cell disintegration. Two-dimension polyacrylamide gel electrophoretograms of the homogenates of Tilapia, goldfish and their NCH blastula cells showed that the protein synthetic pattern of NCH blastula was similar to that of Tilapia nucleus type. The results of experiments which failed to obtain NCH adult fish in all three combinations can be explained as a result of developmental incompatibility between the donor nucleus and the enucleated recipient egg cytoplasm, which were from distantly related fish species. And the chromosome numbers of all the component fish of the three combinations which were examined in the experiment and shown to be quite different from each other in the tested fish, should not be overlooked as one of the essential factors causing the developmental incompatibility in NCH fish in this experiment.  相似文献

Group membership can confer both advantages and disadvantages to growth in juvenile fishes. The balance between costs and benefits of social interactions can shift depending on such factors as the composition of the group (density and size disparity) and the availability of food. We examined the effect of these factors on absolute growth and growth depensation in juvenile sablefish, Anoplopoma fimbria. Increasing density and increasing size disparity had little influence on absolute growth rates of juvenile sablefish and the effects of these social factors were not modified by ration level. In experiments testing density effects, absolute growth did not differ among groups of 1, 3, or 10 fish held at high rations, but at low rations single fish exhibited a different pattern of size-dependent growth compared to fish in groups. In experiments testing disparity effects, absolute growth did not differ between groups with an even size distribution and groups with a mixed size distribution. The relative size of an individual within a group, i.e., small, medium, or large, also did not modify growth, despite evidence of higher chasing behavior in mixed size distributions. Although the growth of small fish was not diminished in the presence of large fish, negative impacts of size disparity were expressed in high levels of cannibalism, which occurred in 42% of groups with a mixed size distribution. Significant growth depensation over time occurred in the density experiment, but not in the size disparity experiment, possibly due to the shorter duration of the latter experiment. We suggest that growth depensation was generated by individual variability in growth capacity rather than social effects on growth rates. Schooling behavior, measured by group cohesion indices, increased with fish size and was higher in groups with an even vs. a mixed size distribution. These results for sablefish are consistent with other schooling species in which growth variability is determined by exploitative competition and/or genetic variability in growth capacity rather than interference competition.  相似文献

为了探讨锦鲫(Carassius auratus)幼鱼摄食后特殊动力作用(SDA)的变化特征及运动代谢与摄食代谢之间的相互影响,实验首先灌喂锦鲫4%体重的饲料和等体积的纤维素(湿重),测定灌喂前后的耗氧率;另设灌喂饲料、灌喂纤维素、空腹组(对照组)3个组,测定3组的临界游泳速度(Ucrit)和运动耗氧率(MO2);然后在70%、0%临界游泳速度下,分别测定饱足摄食组和空腹组的耗氧率。结果显示:1灌喂饲料后代谢率快速上升,达到峰值后又迅速下降,代谢时间较短,没有一个相对稳定的平台期,灌喂纤维素后代谢率没有显著性变化(P0.05)。提示锦鲫幼鱼的特殊动力作用功率曲线为一个典型的"三角型"模型,且在特殊动力作用总耗能中,生化特殊动力作用占特殊动力作用总耗能的绝大部分,而机械特殊动力作用只占特殊动力作用的极少部分。2锦鲫幼鱼在摄食后临界游泳速度显著下降(P0.05),代谢率显著升高(P0.05)。摄食后的运动过程中,代谢率从摄食开始到代谢率回落至空腹组代谢的标准误范围内的首个数据所对应的时间长度均为6.5 h,且摄食代谢无显著性差异。提示,对锦鲫幼鱼来说,摄食代谢降低了其运动能力,而运动代谢并没有影响摄食代谢。  相似文献
