Biodiesel and lactic acid from rapeseed oil was produced using sodium silicate as catalyst. The transesterification in the presence of the catalyst proceeded with a maximum yield of 99.6% under optimized conditions [3% (w/w) sodium silicate, methanol/oil molar ratio 9/1, reaction time 60 min, reaction temperature 60 °C, and stirring rate 250 rpm]. After six consecutive transesterification reactions, the catalyst was collected and used for catalysis of the conversion of glycerol to lactic acid. A maximum yield of 80.5% was achieved when the reaction was carried out at a temperature of 300 °C for 90 min. Thus, sodium silicate is an effective catalyst for transesterification and lactic acid production from the biodiesel by-product, glycerol.  相似文献

This work presents biodiesel production from soybean oil and bioethanol by multiple-stage Ultra-Shear reactor (USR). The experiments were carried out in the following conditions: reaction time from 6 to 12 min; catalyst concentration from 0.5% to 1.5% by weight of soybean oil; ethanol: soybean oil molar ratio from 6:1 to 10:1. The experimental design was used to investigate the influence of process variables on the conversion in biodiesel. The best ethyl ester conversion obtained was 99.26 wt.%, with ethanol:soybean oil molar ratio of 6:1, catalyst concentration of 1.35% and with 12 min of reaction time.  相似文献

The poor and inconsistent physicochemical properties of bio-oil are inhibiting its industrialized production. We investigated the variability in properties of switchgrass bio-oil produced at three pyrolysis temperatures (T = 450, 500, and 550 °C) and three feedstock moisture contents (MC = 5%, 10%, and 15%) in a 3 × 3 factorial experiment in order to exploit opportunities to improve bio-oil properties through optimization of pyrolysis parameters. Results showed that even with the single type of feedstock and pyrolysis system, the two main factors and their interaction caused large variations in bio-oil yield and most of the measured physicochemical properties. Following improvements of bio-oil properties could be individually achieved by selecting an optimal pyrolysis condition (shown in parenthesis) comparing with the worst case: increase of bio-oil yield by more than twofold (MC = 10%, T = 450 °C), increase of pH by 20.4% from 2.74 to 3.3 (MC = 10%, T = 550 °C), increase of higher heating value by 18.1% from 16.6 to 19.6 MJ/kg (MC = 10%, T = 450 °C), decrease of density by 5.9% from 1.18 to 1.11 g/cm3 (MC = 5%, T = 550 °C), decrease of water content by 36% from 31.4 to 20.1 wt.% (MC = 5%, T = 450 °C), decrease of viscosity by 40% from 28.2 to 17 centistokes (MC = 5%, T = 550 °C), decrease of solid content by 57% from 2.86 to 1.23 wt.% (MC = 15%, T = 550 °C), and decrease of ash content by 41.9% from 0.62 to 0.36 wt.% (MC = 15%, T = 550 °C). There is no single, clear-cut optimal condition that can satisfy the criteria for a bio-oil product with all the desired properties. Trade-offs should be balanced according to the usage of the end-products.  相似文献

Transesterification of vegetable oils (from soybeans and rice bran) into methyl and ethyl esters using a batch microwave system was investigated in this study. A critical comparison between the two alcohols was performed in terms of yields, quality, and reaction kinetics. Parameters tested were temperature (60, 70 and 80 °C) and time (5, 10, 15 and 20 min). At all tested conditions, more than 96% conversion rates were obtained for both ethanol and methanol. Use of microwave technology to assist the transesterification process resulted in faster reaction times and reduced catalyst requirement (about ten-fold decrease). Methanol required lower alcohol:oil ratios than normally used in conventional heating, whereas ethanol required higher molar ratios. All esters produced using this method met ASTM biodiesel quality specifications. Methanol performed better in terms of performance and costs, while ethanol may have some environmental and safety benefits.  相似文献

Fatty acid methyl ester was produced from used vegetable cooking oil using Mg1−x Zn1+xO2 solid catalyst and the performance monitored in terms of ester content obtained. Used vegetable cooking oil was employed to reduce operation cost of biodiesel. The significant operating parameters which affect the overall yield of the process were studied. The highest ester content, 80%, was achieved with the catalyst during 4 h 15 min reaction at 188 °C with methanol to oil ratio of 9:1 and catalyst loading of 2.55 wt% oil. Also, transesterification of virgin oil gave higher yield with the heterogeneous catalyst and showed high selectivity towards ester production. The used vegetable cooking oil did not require any rigorous pretreatment. Catalyst stability was examined and there was no leaching of the active components, and its performance was as good at the fourth as at the first cycle.  相似文献

Microwave driven wood liquefaction with glycols   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Wood liquefaction with glycols using p-toluenesulfonic acid as the catalyst was carried out under microwave heating. With rapid heating and temperatures in the 190–210 °C range complete liquefaction was achieved in 7 min. Liquefaction efficiency was dependent on the choice of glycol. Simple glycols such as ethylene glycol and propylene glycol were more effective than higher analogues. The use of glycerol in mixtures with glycols showed a synergistic effect. Size exclusion chromatography was used to follow the gradual emergence of liquefaction products in solution as well as the recondensation products that start forming early in the reaction and precipitate from solution when molar masses of approx. 1 × 104 g/mol are reached.  相似文献

Feruloylated diacylglycerol (FDAG) was synthesized using a selective lipase-catalyzed the transesterification between ethyl ferulate and triolein. To optimize the reaction conversion and purity of FDAG, dual response surface was applied to determine the effects of five-level-five-factors and their reciprocal interactions on product synthesis. A total of 32 individual experiments were performed to study reaction temperature, reaction time, substrate molar ratio, enzyme loading, and water activity. The highest reaction conversion and selectivity towards FDAG were 73.9% and 92.3%, respectively, at 55 °C, reaction time 5.3 day, enzyme loading 30.4 mg/ml, water activity 0.08, and a substrate molar ratio of 3.7. Moreover, predicted values showed good validation with the experimental values when experiments corresponding to selected points on the contour plots were carried out.  相似文献

In this study the pulp from Solanum lycocarpum fruits was used as raw material for extraction of starch, resulting in a yield of 51%. The starch granules were heterogeneous in size, presenting a conical appearance, very similar to a high-amylose cassava starch. The elemental analysis (CHNS) revealed 64.33% carbon, 7.16% hydrogen and 0.80% nitrogen. FT-IR spectroscopy showed characteristic peaks of polysaccharides and NMR analysis confirmed the presence of the α-anomer of d-glucose. The S. lycocarpum starch was characterized by high value of intrinsic viscosity (3515 mPa s) and estimated molecular weight around 645.69 kDa. Furthermore, this starch was classified as a B-type and high amylose content starch, presenting 34.66% of amylose and 38% crystallinity. Endothermic transition temperatures (To = 61.25 °C, Tp = 64.5 °C, Tc = 67.5 °C), gelatinization temperature (ΔT = 6.3 °C) ranges and enthalpy changes (ΔH = 13.21 J g−1) were accessed by DCS analysis. These results make the S. lycocarpum fruit a very promising source of starch for biotechnological applications.  相似文献

The new type of catalyst for fatty acid methyl esters (FAME or biodiesel) synthesis with K2CO3 as active component on alumina/silica support was synthesized using sol–gel method. Corresponding catalyst (xerogel) was prepared by 12 h drying the wet gel in air at 300 °C, 600 °C or 1000 °C at atmospheric pressure. The catalysts activity in the methanolysis of sunflower oil was compared to the activity of the pure K2CO3. The effects of various reaction variables on the yield of FAME were investigated. It was found that the temperature of 120 °C and methanol to oil molar ratio of 15:1, are optimal conditions for FAME synthesis with synthesized catalyst. Repeated use of same amount of catalyst indicated that effect of potassium leaching obviously existed leading to decrease of catalyst activity.  相似文献

1,3-Dihydroxyacetone can be produced by biotransformation of glycerol with glycerol dehydrogenase from Gluconobacter oxydans cells. Firstly, improvement the activity of glycerol dehydrogenase was carried out by medium optimization. The optimal medium for cell cultivation was composed of 5.6 g/l yeast extract, 4.7 g/l glycerol, 42.1 g/l mannitol, 0.5 g/l K2HPO4, 0.5 g/l KH2PO4, 0.1 g/l MgSO4·7H2O, and 2.0 g/l CaCO3 with the initial pH of 4.9. Secondly, an internal loop airlift bioreactor was applied for DHA production from glycerol by resting cells of G. oxydans ZJB09113. Furthermore, the effects of pH, aeration rate and cell content on DHA production and glycerol feeding strategy were investigated. 156.3 ± 7.8 g/l of maximal DHA concentration with 89.8 ± 2.4% of conversion rate of glycerol to DHA was achieved after 72 h of biotransformation using 10 g/l resting cells at 30 °C, pH 5.0 and 1.5 vvm of aeration rate.  相似文献

The brown macro-alga Laminaria saccharina was converted into bio-crude by hydrothermal liquefaction in a batch reactor. The influence of reactor loading, residence time, temperature and catalyst (KOH) loading was assessed. A maximum bio-crude yield of 19.3 wt% was obtained with a 1:10 biomass:water ratio at 350 °C and a residence time of 15 min without the presence of the catalyst. The bio-crude had an HHV of 36.5 MJ/kg and is similar in nature to a heavy crude oil or bitumen. The solid residue has high ash content and contains a large proportion of calcium and magnesium. The aqueous phase is rich in sugars and ammonium and contains a large proportion of potassium and sodium.  相似文献

Acyltransferase activity of amidase from Bacillus sp. APB-6 was enhanced (24 U) by multiple feedings of N-methylacetamide (70 mM) into the production medium. Hyperinduced whole resting cells of Bacillus sp. APB-6 corresponding to 4 g/L (dry cell weight), when treated with 10 mM DTT (dithiothreitol) resulted in 93% molar conversion of acetamide (300 mM) to acetohydroxamic acid in presence of hydroxylamine-HCl (800 mM) after 30 min at 45 °C in a 1 L reaction mixture. After lyophilization, a 62 g powder containing 34% (wt wt−1) acetohydroxamic acid was recovered. This is the first report where DTT has been used to enhance acyltransfer reaction and such high molar conversion (%) of amide to hydroxamates was recorded at 1 L scale.  相似文献

2-Phenylquinoline-4-carboylhydrazide (HL), and its novel nickel(II), zinc(II) complexes [M(HL)2(L)]·2H2O·NO3 (M = Ni (1), M = Zn (2)), have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductivity, and IR spectra. The crystal structure of [Ni(HL)2(L)]·2H2O·NO3 obtained from ethanol solution was determined by X-ray diffraction analysis, crystallized in the rhombohedral system, space group , Z = 18, a = 31.913(3) Å, b = 31.913(3) Å, c = 27.709(2) Å, α = 90°, β = 90°, γ = 120°, R1 = 0.0647. The interactions of the complexes and the ligand with calf thymus DNA had been investigated using UV-Vis spectra, fluorescent spectra, CD (circular dichroism) spectra, CV (cyclic voltammetry) and viscosity measurements. These compounds were tested against MFC (mouse forestomach carcinoma) cell lines. The complex 1 showed significant cytotoxic activity against MFC cell lines. The cleavage reaction on plasmid DNA has been monitored by agarose gel electrophoresis. Results suggest that the two complexes bound to DNA via a groove binding mode and the complexes can cleave pBR322 DNA.  相似文献

In this study, microwave assisted transesterification of Pongamia pinnata seed oil was carried out for the production of biodiesel. The experiments were carried out using methanol and two alkali catalysts i.e., sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and potassium hydroxide (KOH). The experiments were carried out at 6:1 alcohol/oil molar ratio and 60 °C reaction temperature. The effect of catalyst concentration and reaction time on the yield and quality of biodiesel was studied. The result of the study suggested that 0.5% sodium hydroxide and 1.0% potassium hydroxide catalyst concentration were optimum for biodiesel production from P. pinnata oil under microwave heating. There was a significant reduction in reaction time for microwave induced transesterification as compared to conventional heating.  相似文献

Kinetics of the reaction of octacarbonyl dicobalt with ethyl diazoacetate leading to [μ2-{ethoxycarbonyl(methylene)}-μ2-(carbonyl)-bis(tricarbonyl-cobalt)] (Co-Co) (1), dinitrogen, and carbon monoxide were investigated at 10 °C in heptane solution. The initial rate of the reaction was measured by following both the gas evolution and the decrease of the octacarbonyl dicobalt concentration. The rate is first order with respect to octacarbonyl dicobalt and a complex order with respect to ethyl diazoacetate and carbon monoxide depending on the ratio of their concentrations. This is in accord with the formation of a heptacarbonyl dicobalt reactive intermediate (k1 (10 °C) = (1.22 ± 0.06) × 10−3 s−1) for which carbon monoxide and ethyl diazoacetate compete (k−1/k2 (10 °C) = 1.34 ± 0.07).  相似文献

Crude glycerol is a major byproduct of the biodiesel industry; previous research has proved the feasibility of producing docosahexaenoic acid (DHA, 22:6 n − 3) through fermentation of the algae Schizochytrium limacinum on crude glycerol. The objective of this work is to investigate the cell growth kinetics, substrate utilization efficiency, and DHA production of the algae through a continuous culture. Steady-state biomass yield, biomass productivity, growth yield on glycerol, specific glycerol consumption rate, and fatty acid composition were investigated within the range of dilution rate (D) from 0.2 to 0.6 day−1, and the range of feed crude glycerol concentration (S0) from 15 to 120 g/L. The maximum specific growth rate was determined as 0.692 day−1. The cells had a true growth yield of 0.283 g/g but with a relatively high maintenance coefficient (0.2216 day−1). The highest biomass productivity of 3.88 g/L-day was obtained at D = 0.3 day−1 and S0 = 60 g/L, while the highest DHA productivity (0.52 g/L-day) was obtained at D = 0.3 day−1 and S0 = 90 g/L due to the higher DHA content at S0 = 90 g/L. The biomass and DHA productivity of the continuous culture was comparable to those of batch culture, while lower than the fed-batch culture, mainly because of the lower DHA content obtained by the continuous culture. Overall, the results show that continuous culture is a powerful tool to investigate the cell growth kinetics and physiological behaviors of the algae growing on biodiesel-derived crude glycerol.  相似文献

Sub-critical or supercritical water was utilized for the degradation of glycerol in an environmentally benign reaction. The reaction was carried out in a batch reactor in the temperature range of 473-673 K, pressure of 30 MPa, and reaction time of 20-60 min. The effects of temperature and reaction time were observed. The degradation of glycerol produced acetaldehyde, acrolein, allyl alcohol and un-identified products. The highest yield of acrolein, acetaldehyde and allyl alcohol were 0.20, 7.17, 96.69 mol%, respectively. Glycerol conversion was 99.92 mol%. While acetaldehyde was formed only in sub-critical water and allyl alcohol only in supercritical water, acrolein was formed in both. The kinetics of the global reaction displayed a pseudo-first-order. The activation energy at subcritical water was 39.6 kJ/mol. Based on the results, this method could be an efficient method for glycerol degradation because the high conversion of glycerol was obtained.  相似文献

Simultaneous production of citric acid (CA) and invertase by Yarrowia lipolytica A-101-B56-5 (SUC+ clone) growing from sucrose, mixture of glucose and fructose, glucose or glycerol was investigated. Among the tested substrates the highest concentration of CA was reached from glycerol (57.15 g/L) with high yield (YCA/S = 0.6 g/g). When sucrose was used, comparable amount of CA was secreted (45 g/L) with slightly higher yield (YCA/S = 0.643 g/g). In all cultures amount of isocitrate (ICA) was below 2% of total citrates. Considering invertase production, the best carbon source appeared to be sucrose (72 380 U/L). The highest yield of CA and invertase biosynthesis calculated for 1 g of biomass was obtained for cells growing from glycerol (9.9 g/g and 4325 U/g, respectively). Concentrates of extra- and intracellular invertase of the highest activity were obtained from sucrose as substrate (0.5 and 1.8 × 106 U/L, respectively).  相似文献

In this study, an aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH) was over-expressed in Klebsiella pneumoniae for simultaneous production of 3-hydroxypropionic acid (3-HP) and 1,3-propanediol (1,3-PDO). Various genes encoding ALDH were cloned and expressed in K. pneumoniae, and expression of Escherichia colialdH resulted in the highest 3-HP titer in anaerobic cultures in shake flasks. Anaerobic fed-batch culture of this recombinant strain was further performed in a 5-L reactor. The 3-HP concentration and yield reached 24.4 g/L and 0.18 mol/mol glycerol, respectively, and at the same time 1,3-PDO achieved 49.3 g/L with a yield of 0.43 mol/mol in 24 h. The overall yield of 3-HP plus 1,3-PDO was 0.61 mol/mol. Over-expression of the E. coli AldH also reduced the yields of by-products except for lactate. This study demonstrated the possibility of simultaneous production of 3-HP and 1,3-PDO by K. pneumoniae under anaerobic conditions without supply of vitamin B12.  相似文献

Oil palm trunks are a possible lignocellulosic source for ethanol production. Low enzymatic digestibility of this type of material (11.9% of the theoretical glucose yield) makes pretreatment necessary. An enzymatic digestibility of 95.4% with insoluble solids recovery of 49.8% was achieved after soaking shredded oil palm trunks in ammonia under optimum conditions (80 °C, 1:12 solid-to-liquid ratio, 8 h and 7% (w/w) ammonia solution). Treatment with 60 FPU of commercial cellulase (Accellerase 1000) per gram of glucan and fermentation with Saccharomyces cerevisiae D5A resulted in an ethanol concentration of 13.3 g/L and an ethanol yield of 78.3% (based on the theoretical maximum) after 96 h. These results indicate that oil palm trunks are a biomass feedstock that can be used for bioethanol production.  相似文献
