We aimed to assess the potential effects of fumigation by methyl salicylate (MeSA) on plant monoterpene production and emissions. We evaluated monoterpene production and emissions both by chromatographic and proton transfer reaction mass spectrometry at the whole plant-and leaf-scales, in MeSa-fumigated (ca. 60 mm3 m−3 in air) and control (without MeSa fumigation) holm oak (Quercus ilex L.) plants exposed to temperatures ranging from 25 to 50 °C. The MeSa-fumigated plants showed ca. 3–4-fold greater leaf monoterpene concentrations and emission rates than the control plants between the temperatures of 25 to 45 °C.  相似文献

The progressive changes in measured water potential and the time to equilibration was investigated forPinus elliotii varelliotii needles in thermocouple psychrometer chambers held at 15°C, 22.5°C, and 30°C. Needles at 30°C appeared to loose semi-permeable membrane integrity after 14 hours. Needles held at 22.5°C had similar problems after 48 hours while those at 15°C were not affected. time to equilibrium was shortest at 30°C and longest at 15°C.Ethanol in the chambers had the same effect on measured water potential as did >14 hours at 30°C. Needle color, chamber odor, and pattern of measured water potential suggested an anaerobic condition in the chamber was the cause of reduced membrane integrity.Journal series paper No 7187 of the Florida, Agric. Summary The absorption of N from foliar applications of various N sources by pine seedlings was studied under greenhouse conditions. Needles dipped into solutions of 4,000 ppm N from Ca(NO3)2 were burned slightly at the tips at two weeks. Although higher concentrations of (NH2)2CO and (NH4)2SO4 could be used without plant damage, a uniform concentration of 3,000 ppm was used in all comparative tests of sources. The level of tissue N, brought about by soil fertilization 6 weeks previously, did not significantly influence absorption of foliarly applied N15. Soil moisture maintained at near 100, 60 to 70, and 25 to 35 per cent of water-holding capacity of the Leon fs did not significantly affect the absorption of tagged N. Greater quantities of N15 were absorbed as urea than as Ca(NO3)2 or (NH4)2SO4. The use of a spreader-sticker increased the N15 uptake, regardless of the N compound used. However, the magnitude of the increased absorption associated with use as a sticker varied from 490 per cent with (NH4)2SO4 to 260 per cent with urea. It was calculated that approximately 71, 45, and 39 per cent of foliar applied N was absorbed into needles within 24 hours from urea, Ca(NO3)2, and (NH4)2SO4, respectively. Emission rates of monoterpenes released by apple (Malus domestica Borkh) and cherry (Prunus avium L.) were estimated at different phenological stages. These measurements employed a dynamic flow-through Teflon chamber, sample collection onto cartridges filled with graphitized carbon and thermal desorption gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) for identification and quantification of the emitted volatiles. At full bloom the release of monoterpene hydrocarbons from cherry flowers was 1213 ng g(-1) dry weight (DW) h(-1), exceeding by approximately three-fold the emission rate of apple flowers (366 ng g(-1) DW h(-1)). Observed seasonal variations in biogenic volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions ranged over several order of magnitudes. At fruit-set and ripening stages, in fact, the hydrocarbon emission dramatically decreased reaching the lowest values at harvest time when leaves were fully mature (3-9 ng g(-1) DW h(-1)). Wide diversity in the composition of compounds from the species studied was also recorded. At blooming, linalool contributed significantly to the monoterpene emission from apple (94% of the emitted carbon) while alpha-pinene and camphene represented on average more than 60% of the total emitted volatiles from cherry flowers. Among the monoterpenes identified in flowers, alpha-pinene, camphene and limonene were also found in the foliage emission of both species. Fruit trees are relevant monoterpene emitters only at blooming and thus for a short period of the vegetative cycle. When leaves are fully developed, the carbon loss due to monoterpene emissions related to the photosynthetically carbon gain is negligible.  相似文献

Influence of soil temperature on methane emission from rice paddy fields   总被引:18,自引:2,他引:16  
Methane emission rates from an Italian rice paddy field showed diel and seasonal variations. The seasonal variations were not closely related to soil temperatures. However, the dieL changes of CH4 fluxes were significantly correlated with the diel changes of the temperature in a particular soil depth. The soil depths with the best correlations between CH4 flux and temperature were shallow (1–5cm) in May and June, deep (10–15cm) in June and July, and again shallow (1–5 cm) in August. Apparent activation energies (Ea) calculated from these correlations using the Arrhenius model were relatively low (50–150 kJ mol–1) in May and June, but increased to higher values (80–450 kJ mol–1) in August. In the laboratory, CH4 emission from two rice cultures incubated at temperatures between 20 and 38°C showed E . values of 41 and 53 kJ mol–1) Methane production in anoxic paddy soil suspensions incubated between 7 and 43°C showed E values between 53 and 132 kJ mol–1 with an average value of 85 kJ mol–1) and in pure cultures of hydrogenotrophic methanogenic bacteria E a values between 77 and 173 (average 126) kJ mol–1. It is suggested that diel changes of soil properties other than temperature affect CH4 emission rates, e.g. diel changes in root exudation or in efficiency of CH4 oxidation in the rhizosphere.  相似文献

Sudan black B stains oleoresin blue-black in epoxy-embedded material as well as in living tissue. The Sudan black B staining properties of oleoresin are similar to those of lipid, but it can be distinguished from tannin, which stains brown. Pratically all oleoresin present in resin ducts and intercellular spaces, and much of that contained in epithelial and ray cells, is extracted in preparatory procedure for electron microscopy. A fixation procedure is proposed which preserves significantly more oleoresin in situ. The use of Sudan black B enables one to localize oleoresin by light microscopy, and permits direct comparison of adjacent sections of epoxy-embedded material at the ultrastructure level. Ultrastructurally oleoresin and lipid possess similar electron densities and can be distinguished from the highly electron-opaque tannin deposits.  相似文献

土壤甲烷代谢微生物影响甲烷的产生和氧化,然而关于林型对土壤中甲烷代谢微生物群落结构影响的研究较少。采用基因芯片GeoChip 3.0研究了湿地松人工林和马尾松人工林土壤甲烷代谢微生物群落结构特征。结果如下,(1)两种林型的甲烷代谢微生物群落结构存在极显著差异(P=0.008),林型能解释其34.9%的变异;(2)产甲烷菌(包含甲基辅酶M还原α亚基基因mcrA的微生物)的优势菌群发生了变化,湿地松人工林的的优势菌为Methanocorpusculum labreanum Z,马尾松人工林的优势菌群除Methanocorpusculum labreanum Z外,还包括产甲烷古菌和Methanosarcina mazei Gol;(3)甲烷营养菌(包含甲烷单加氧酶基因pmoA基因的微生物)的优势菌为Ⅱ型,有3种不可培养细菌只在湿地松人工林检测到,在马尾松人工林中未检测到;(4)mcrA基因丰度或同源基因数量与土壤容重正相关,与土壤粘粒含量呈显著负相关;pmoA基因信号强度或多样性指数与土壤全碳含量、全磷含量和速效氮含量显著正相关。总之,相比本地种马尾松人工林,引进种湿地松人工林的土壤甲烷代谢微生物群落结构发生了显著变化。  相似文献

The effects of temperature, over a range of 5 to 30 C, on phytotoxicity of simazine, atrazine, propazine, prometryne, prometone, and ipazine to young Pinus resinosa seedlings were investigated in growth chambers. Herbicides were applied to the soil surface and then mixed into the soil before pine seeds were planted. Development of recently germinated seedlings was then studied for 7 weeks. High temperatures greatly accelerated herbicide toxicity, but the effects of temperature varied greatly among herbicides. Atrazine and simazine were more toxic than other herbicides tested at all temperatures. Toxicity of simazine and atrazine was apparent early, whereas effects of propazine, prometryne, prometone, and ipazine were somewhat delayed. After 7 weeks maximum dry-weight production of shoots under each herbicide treatment and control occurred at 20 C, with some decreases noted at lower temperatures and marked decreases at progressively higher ones. At 20 C final seedling dry weights following treatment with simazine or atrazine were only one-third as high as in control plants. Growth was also reduced in lesser amounts by propazine, prometryne, prometone, or ipazine. Variations in phytotoxicity of different triazine herbicides appeared to be related more to their structural differences than their solubilities. Under the constant environmental conditions of the experiments, toxicity symptoms in plants treated with triazine herbicides appeared more rapidly and decisively than in previous field experiments under fluctuating environments. The influence of high temperatures in enhancing triazine toxicity appeared to involve complex interactions of physiological activity of plants and temperature effects on herbicide uptake.  相似文献

Summary Slash pine seedlings on Bladen, Leon, and Lakeland soils responded differently to P and N fertilization. Seedling growth was increased by all treatments on Bladen soil, whereas responses by seedlings on the other soils were nil. All soils were low in extractable P with both Bladen and Lakeland yielding 0.85 ppm P. Growth response to fertilizer was positive on Bladen soil because soil and tissue levels of P were raised above “critical” levels and other nutrients were present in adequate quantities. Tissue analyses indicated, and subsequent experiments utilizing macro- and micronutrients proved, that excess P applications reduced certain micronutrients to growth-limiting levels on both Leon and Lakeland soils. Best growth on Leon soil occurred when P and N were supplemented with Cu. On the Lakeland soil macronutrients supplemented with Cu, Mn, or Zn produced greatest growth. Hypocotylary explants obtained from 30- to 40-day-old slash pine (Pinus elliottii, Engelm.) seedlings treated with 6-benzylaminopurine produced multiple buds that eventually elongated into axillary shoots. The explants were pulse treated (45-s dip) with 6-benzylaminopurine (22.2, 111, 222 M) plus a control and cultured on three different basal media containing activated charcoal (0.5% w/v). Hormonal concentration and basal medium were compared for the number and size of axillary shoots induced after 12 and 29 days. The greatest number of axillary shoots was produced by explants that were pulse treated with 111 M 6-benzylaminopurine and cultured on Gresshoff and Doy medium.  The effects of exposure to helium-neon (He-Ne) or Argon (Ar) laser light (λ=632.8 nm and 514 nm, respectively) on the growth of Hebeloma mesophaeum mycelium in pure culture were studied. Growth rates were highest after exposure to the He-Ne laser (1×60 s)+Ar laser (2×60 s) and to the He-Ne laser for 3×30. Container-grown Pinus sylvestris (pine) seedlings were inoculated with a water suspension of H. mesophaeum mycelium previously exposed to different kinds of laser light. After 3 months, the percentage of mycorrhizal associations on pine roots was 34.3% higher after He-Ne laser treatment and 47.1% higher after Ar laser treatment than in the controls with untreated fungus. However, seedlings infected with treated fungus were smaller than the control. Overall, laser light stimulated growth of H. mesophaeum mycelia in pure culture and enhanced mycorrhizal development on Scots pine seedlings.  相似文献

Photoinhibition of photosynthesis and its recovery in the cyanobacteriumSpirulina platensis was studied to find how photosynthetic rates were influenced by light and temperature. By exposing cell samples from a turbidostat culture to combinations of light and temperature, a connection between light, temperature and photoinhibition was found. The experiments showed that a 10 degree increase from 20 °C to 30 °C considerably reduced the photoinhibition. At 25 °C a photon flux density of 1720 µmol m–2 s–1 reduced the photosynthetic rate by 50 % in 1 h, but a similarly high photon flux density had nearly no negative effect at 35 °C. Reactivation in low light from 50% photoinhibition was fast and complete in 60 min at 30 °C, while at 20 °C only about 1/6 of the full capacity was regained in the same time. Addition of the protein synthesis inhibitor streptomycin to cultures undergoing photoinhibition and regeneration indicated the presence also in this organism of a repair mechanism based on protein synthesis.Author for correspondence  相似文献

Lipid analyses were conducted on slash pine tissues grown in culture in the presence of lunar (Apollo 15) and Earth soils. Significant reductions in the total lipids, fatty acids, and sterol components were found in the tissues grown in contact with each of the soils employed when compared to the control. Tissues grown with lunar soil showed the greatest reductions. These results are discussed with respect to previous ultrastructural studies on similarly treated slash pine tissues and lipid analyses on tobacco tissue cultures.  相似文献

The floral volatiles of blackcurrant (Ribes nigrum) were collected in situ using the headspace technique. Eleven compounds were identified, including monoterpenes hydrocarbons and monoterpene ethers. The fragrance was emitted in a rhythmic manner, the maximum being in the middle of the photoperiod. Emission at 20°C was significantly higher than at 10°C. The rhythmic nature of emission seemed to cease under conditions of constant light. However, a slight rise in emission during the second period in continuous light may indicate a circadian control of emission. The significance of flower volatiles in relation to pollination is discussed.  相似文献

Two pure, acidic polysaccharides have been isolated from the hemicellulose of slash pine in yields of 1–2% and 4–5%. Their properties are compared, and the structure of one of them has been investigated by methylation analysis. The results indicate that the glycan is a β-D-(1→4)-linked xylan chain with many branch points. 4-O-Methyl-D-glucopyranosyluronic acid, L-arabinofuranose, and D-xylopyranose residues occur as non-reducing end groups. The uronic acid occurs as single-unit attachments to the main chain. Some of the D-xylose residues in the polysaccharide are doubly branched. The total hemicellulose components of the wood probably represent a complex mixture of chemical types, from which the two pure fractions described above may be separated fortuitously by careful, fractional precipitation.  相似文献

Monoterpene composition of the shoot cortical oleoresin from a number of centrally-located natural stands of Lodgepole pine was compared with that from populations derived from a variety of more peripheral parts of the natural range. The chemical diversity in interior populations was high; over much of the periphery it was much lower but locally in extreme north and north-eastern areas it became very high, a feature associated with possible glacial refugia and with recent introgressive influences from Jack pine. There is evidence for a more generally pervasive and probably more ancient interaction between, or progenitor of, the two species over a large part of the range, particularly in south-central British Columbia. The chemotypic distributional data are discusssd in relation to the recent history of the species.  相似文献
