A novel blue green‐emitting phosphor Ba2ZnSi2O7 : Eu2+ was prepared by combustion synthesis method and an efficient bluish green emission under from ultraviolet to visible light was observed. The emission spectrum shows a single intensive band centered at 503 nm, which corresponds to the 4f65d1 → 4f7 transition of Eu2+. The excitation spectrum is a broad band extending from 260 to 465 nm, which matches the emission of ultraviolet light‐emitting diodes (UV‐LEDs). The effect of doped Eu2+ concentration on the emission intensity of Ba2ZnSi2O7 : Eu2+ was also investigated. The result indicates that Ba2ZnSi2O7 : Eu2+ can be potentially useful as a UV radiation‐converting phosphor for white light‐emitting diodes. Copyright © 2009 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Novel water‐soluble green fluorescent carbon nanodots (CNs) using methacrylic acid and m‐phenylenediamine as precursors were first synthesized using a one‐pot hydrothermal method. Red fluorescent lanthanide complexes were prepared using lanthanide ion Eu3+ and pyridine‐2,6‐dicarboxylic acid. The optical properties of CNs were characterized using ultraviolet visible (UV) spectra and fluorescence spectra, microscopic morphology was characterized using transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and dynamic light scattering (DLS), and the elemental composition was characterized using Fourier transform‐infrared spectroscopy (FT‐IR) and X‐ray photoelectron spectra (XPS). The fluorescence spectra of the lanthanide complexes were also measured. A simple strategy was developed to prepare UV light‐tunable fluorescent inks and polymer hydrogels films based on CNs and lanthanide complexes. The fluorescent inks and polymer hydrogels films could be repeatedly switched between green and red fluorescence. The change of color depended on luminescence of the CNs and the lanthanide complexes under 254 and 365 nm UV light, respectively. The UV light‐tunable fluorescent inks and polymer hydrogels films could enhance its anti‐counterfeiting function for data and information.  相似文献

In the yttrium aluminium system, the YAlO3 phosphor is a prominent host because of the yttrium aluminium ratio (1:1). Phosphor was synthesized by the solid‐state reaction method at variable concentrations of erbium (0.1–2.5 mol%). This method is suitable for large‐scale production and is a less time‐consuming method when compared with the soft synthesis method. The prepared sample was characterized by X‐ray diffraction technique and the crystallite size was calculated by Scherer's formula. Vibrational and bending analysis of prepared phosphor for optimized concentration of erbium ion is described based on the Fourier transform infrared spectroscopic technique. The photoluminescence (PL) emission spectra of prepared phosphor for variable concentrations of erbium ion were recorded and the excitation spectrum was found to be at 291 nm with three shoulder peaks at 305, 270 and 242 nm. For 291 nm excitation, the emission spectrum was found at 546 nm and 552 nm. PL intensity increased with increasing concentrations of erbium and after 2 mol% emission intensity decreased due to concentration quenching. Spectrophotometric determination of YAlO3:Er3+ is described by CIE co‐ordinates and shows an intense emission in the green region such that the prepared phosphor can act as a single host for green light emission. Thermoluminescence glow curve analysis of the YAlO3:Er3+ phosphor was recorded for different ultraviolet (UV) light exposures and gamma exposure. Different gamma doses 0.5–2 kGy show a linear response. Kinetic parameters were calculated by the peak shape method. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Two green methods (microwave and hydrothermal) were employed for the preparation of water dispersible fluorescent carbon nanoparticles (CNPs) from activated charcoal. Microwave and hydrothermally synthesized carbon nanoparticles, (MW‐CNPs) and (HT‐CNPs), respectively were characterized by microscopic and spectroscopic techniques. A detailed study of their fluorescence characteristics was made. MW‐CNPs and HT‐CNPs were tested for metal ion selectivity in aqueous medium. MW‐CNPs showed selectivity for Fe3+ among the tested metal ions and important studies such as for interference, linear range and limit of detection were carried out. The application of MW‐CNPs for detection of Fe3+ in water was demonstrated.  相似文献

We report the synthesis and structural characterization of Er3+,Yb3+‐doped Gd2O3 phosphor. The sample was prepared using the conventional solid‐state reaction method, which is the most suitable method for large‐scale production. The prepared phosphor sample was characterized using X‐ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), thermoluminescence (TL), photoluminescence (PL) and CIE techniques. For PL studies, the excitation and emission spectra of Gd2O3 phosphor doped with Er3+ and Yb3+ were recorded. The excitation spectrum was recorded at a wavelength of 551 nm and showed an intense peak at 276 nm. The emission spectrum was recorded at 276 nm excitation and showed peaks in all blue, green and red regions, which indicate that the prepared phosphor may act as a single host for white light‐emitting diode (WLED) applications, as verified by International de I'Eclairage (CIE) techniques. From the XRD data, the calculated average crystallite size of Er3+ and Yb3+‐doped Gd2O3 phosphor is ~ 38 nm. A TL study was carried out for the phosphor using UV irradiation. The TL glow curve was recorded for UV, beta and gamma irradiations, and the kinetic parameters were also calculated. In addition, the trap parameters of the prepared phosphor were also studied using computerized glow curve deconvolution (CGCD). Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Here we report the synthesis and structural, morphological, and photoluminescence analysis of white‐ and blue‐light‐emitting Dy3+‐ and Tm3+‐doped Gd2Ti2O7 nanophosphors. Single‐phase cubic Gd2Ti2O7 nanopowders consist of compact, dense aggregates of nanoparticles with an average size of ~25 nm for Dy3+‐doped and ~50 nm for Tm3+‐doped samples. The photoluminescence results indicated that ultraviolet (UV) light excitation of the Dy3+‐doped sample resulted in direct generation of white light, while a dominant yellow emission was obtained under blue‐light excitation. Intense blue light was obtained for Tm3+‐doped Gd2Ti2O7 under UV excitation suggesting that this material could be used as a blue phosphor.  相似文献

A series of Sr2ZnWO6 phosphors co‐doped with Eu3+, Bi3+ and Li+ were prepared using the Pechini method. The samples were tested using X‐ray diffraction and luminescence spectroscopy. The results show that the samples can be effectively excited by near‐ultraviolet (UV) and UV light. The introduction of Bi3+ and Li+ significantly enhances the fluorescence emission of Sr2ZnWO6:Eu3+ and changes the light emitted by the phosphors from bluish‐green to white. When excited at 371 nm, Sr2–x–zZn1–yWO6:xEu3+,yBi3+,zLi+ (x = 0.05, y = 0.05, z = 0.05, 0.1 and 0.15) samples emit high‐performance white light. Intense red–orange emission is also observed when excited by UV light. The obtained phosphor is a potential white‐emitting phosphor that could meet the needs of excitation sources with near‐UV chips. In addition, this phosphor might have promising application as a red–orange emitting phosphor for white light‐emitting diodes based on UV light‐emitting diodes. We examined the redox effects of UV irradiation on cell wall isolates from Pisum sativum leaves, and polygalacturonic and galacturonic acid, in the presence of hydrogen peroxide. For this purpose, electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy and two spin‐traps (DEPMPO and BMPO), capable of differentiating between various free radicals, were applied. Systems were exposed to UV‐B (maximum emission at 312 nm) and UV‐A (352 nm) for 10 min (6 J m–2 s–1). Cell wall isolates exposed to UV in the presence of hydrogen peroxide, produced hydroxyl radical, carbon dioxide radical and superoxide. The production of superoxide was observed for cell wall isolates, polygalacturonic acid (in the presence and in the absence of calcium) and galacturonic acid, and it was diminished upon superoxide dismutase supplementation. The production is at least partially based on the reaction of hydroxyl radicals with (poly)galacturonic acid having carbon dioxide radicals as a products. Acting as a strong reducing agent, carbon dioxide radical reacts with molecular oxygen to produce superoxide. The results presented here shed a new light on: (1) the redox‐modulating role of cell wall; (2) the production of superoxide in the extracellular compartment; (3) the mechanisms involved in translating UV stress into molecular signaling and (4) some other UV‐related phenomena in plants, such as CO2 emission.  相似文献

In the past few years, organic–inorganic metal halide ABX3 perovskites (A = Rb, Cs, methylammonium, formamidinium (FA); B = Pb, Sn; X = Cl, Br, I) have rapidly emerged as promising materials for photovoltaic applications. Tuning the film morphology by various deposition techniques and additives is crucial to achieve solar cells with high performance and long‐term stability. In this work, carbon nanoparticles (CNPs) containing functional groups are added to the perovskite precursor solution for fabrication of fluorine‐doped tin oxide/TiO2/perovskite/spiro‐OMeTAD/gold devices. With the addition of CNPs, the perovskite films are thermally more stable, contain larger grains, and become more hydrophobic. NMR experiments provide strong evidence that the functional groups of the CNPs interact with FA cations already in the precursor solution. The fabricated solar cells show a power‐conversion efficiency of 18% and negligible hysteresis.  相似文献

Abstract Stress physiology on the reproductive cells of Antarctic macroalgae remained unstudied. Ascoseira mirabilis is endemic to the Antarctic region, an isolated ecosystem exposed to extreme environmental conditions. Moreover, stratospheric ozone depletion leads to increasing ultraviolet radiation (280–400 nm) at the earth's surface, thus it is necessary to investigate the capacity of reproductive cells to cope with different UV irradiances. This study is aimed to investigate the impact of exposure to different spectral irradiance on the photosynthetic performance, DNA damage and gamete morphology of the A. mirabilis. Gametangia, gametes and zygotes of the upper sublittoral brown alga A. mirabilis were exposed to photosynthetically active radiation (PAR = P; 400–700 nm), P + UV‐A radiation (UV‐A, 320–400 nm) and P + UV‐A + UV‐B radiation (UV‐B, 280–320 nm). Rapid photosynthesis versus irradiance curves of freshly released propagules were measured. Photosynthetic efficiencies and DNA damage (in terms of cyclobutane pyrimidine dimers) were determined after 1, 2, 4 and 8 h exposure as well as after 2 days of recovery in dim white light. Saturation irradiance (Ik) in freshly released propagules was 52 μmol photons m−2 s−1. Exposure for 1 h under 22 μmol photons m−2 s−1 of PAR significantly reduced the optimum quantum yield (Fv/Fm), suggesting that propagules are low light adapted. Furthermore, UVR significantly contributed to the photoinhibition of photosynthesis. Increasing dose as a function of exposure time additionally exacerbated the effects of different light treatments. The amount of DNA damage increased with the UV‐B dose but an efficient repair mechanism was observed in gametes pre‐exposed to a dose lower than 5.8 × 103 J m−2 of UV‐B. The results of this study demonstrate the negative impact of UV‐B radiation. However, gametes of A. mirabilis are capable of photosynthetic recovery and DNA repair when the stress factor is removed. This capacity was observed to be dependent on the fitness of the parental sporophyte.  相似文献

In this study, we prepared carbon dots (CDs) from wheat bran via hydrothermal treatment at 180°C for 3 h. The prepared CDs showed blue‐green fluorescence under UV light. The fluorescence emission study of the CDs revealed that they showed maximum fluorescence emission at 500 nm. The prepared CDs showed a high quantum yield of 33.23%. Solvent‐dependent fluorescence emission analysis of the CDs was performed to study the variation in fluorescence emission characteristics with solvent polarity. The prepared CDs were conjugated with amoxicillin (AMX) to explore its potential for use as a drug delivery agent for AMX. The drug release profile of the CD–AMX conjugates was analyzed at different pH (5.0, 6.8 and 7.2) to study drug release kinetics. CD–AMX conjugates showed notable bacterial inhibition against Gram‐positive (S. aureus) and Gram‐negative (E. coli) strains with minimal cytotoxic effects, indicating its potential as a promising antibacterial drug delivery system.  相似文献

Increases in solar ultraviolet‐B radiation (UV‐B; 280–320 nm) reaching the earth have been estimated to continue until 2050s in the boreal and subarctic regions with an abundant peatland cover. Peatlands are significant sinks for carbon dioxide (CO2) and sources for methane (CH4). To assess whether the future increases in UV‐B could affect the fluxes of CO2 and CH4 in peatlands via an impact on vegetation, we exposed peatland microcosms to modulated 30% supplementation of erythemally weighted UV‐B at an outdoor facility for one growing season. The experimental design included appropriate controls for UV‐A and ambient radiation. The UV‐B caused a significant reduction in gross photosynthesis, net ecosystem CO2 exchange, and CH4 emission of the peatland microcosms. These changes in the carbon gas cycling can be partly explained by UV‐B‐induced morphological changes in Eriophorum vaginatum which acts as a conduit for CH4. Leaf cross section and the percentage of CH4‐conducting aerenchymatous tissue in E. vaginatum were significantly reduced by UV‐B. Methanol‐extractable UV‐B absorbing compounds decreased under both UV‐B and UV‐A in Sphagnum angustifolium, and tended to accumulate under UV‐B in S. papillosum. Membrane permeability to magnesium (Mg) and calcium (Ca) ions was higher in UV‐B exposed S. angustifolium. Amount of chlorophyll and carotenoid pigments was increased by UV‐A in S. magellanicum. The observed changes in Sphagnum mosses did not coincide with those in carbon gas fluxes but occurred at the time of the highest UV intensity in the mid summer. Our findings indicate that increasing UV‐B may have more substantial effects on gas exchange in peatlands than previously thought.  相似文献

A series of Eu2+‐activated barium orthosilicates (BaZnSiO4) were synthesized using a high‐temperature solid‐state reaction. A photoluminescence excitation study of Eu2+ shows a broad absorption band in the range of 270–450 nm, with multiple absorption peak maxima (310, 350 and 400 nm) due to 4f–5d electronic transition. The emission spectra of all the compositions show green color emission (in the spectral region 450–550 nm with a peak maximum at 502 nm and a shoulder at ~ 490 nm) with appropriate Comission Internationale de l'Eclairage (CIE) color coordinates. The two emission peaks are due to the presence of Eu2+ in two different Ba sites in the BaZnSiO4 host lattice. The energy transfers between the Eu2+ ions in BaZnSiO4 host are elucidated from the critical concentration quenching data based on the electronic multipolar interaction. All Eu2+‐activated BaZnSiO4 phosphor materials can be efficiently excited in the ultraviolet (UV) to near UV‐region (270–420 nm), making them attractive candidate as a green phosphor for solid state lighting–white light‐emitting diodes.  相似文献

A new bluish‐white long‐lasting phosphorescent material, Hf4+‐doped b‐Zn3(PO4)2, was prepared by the conventional high‐temperature solid‐state method. The photoluminescence (PL) spectrum reveals that it exhibits a strong blue emission band centred at 470 nm, with asymmetry on the long wavelength side; this material emits bluish‐white light and shows strong afterglow phosphorescence after it is excited with a 254 nm UV lamp. The phosphorescence lasts nearly 40 min in the light perception of the dark‐adapted human eye (0.32 mcd/m2). The possible phosphorescence mechanism is also analysed. Visual orientation in the greenhouse whitefly (Trialeurodes vaporariorum Westwood, Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae) is the result of “wavelength‐specific behaviours.” Green–yellow elicits “settling behaviour” while ultraviolet (UV) radiation initiates “migratory behaviour.” The only available physiological study of the photoreceptors' spectral efficiency showed peaks in the green and the UV range and whitefly vision was said to be dichromatic so far. In order to study the visual behaviour of T. vaporariorum, 19 narrow‐bandwidth light emitting diodes (LEDs) covering the UV‐A and visible range were used in combination with light scattering acrylic glass screens in a small‐scale choice arena under greenhouse conditions. Multiple‐choice and dual‐choice assays were performed, resulting in LED‐based behavioural action spectra of settling (green) and migratory behaviour (UV). A potential inhibitory blue–green chromatic mechanism was studied by combining yellow with different bluish LEDs. Intensity dependencies were illustrated by changing LED intensities. Regarding the “settling response,” highest attraction was achieved by a green LED with a centroid wavelength of 550 nm, while a blue LED with 469 nm proved to be most inhibitory. Besides this inhibitory interaction, an intensity dependence was observed within the action spectrum in the green–yellow range. “Migratory behaviour” was elicited the most by the UV LED with the shortest available wavelength of 373 nm. The results provide compelling behavioural evidence for the presence of a green and a yet undescribed blue sensitive photoreceptor and a blue–green opponent mechanism. Furthermore, empirical colour choice models were built and receptor peaks were estimated around 510–520 nm (green), 480–490 nm (blue) and 340–370 nm (UV). Consequently, a trichromatic receptor setup is suggested for T. vaporariorum.  相似文献

Pure and Na+‐doped Alq3 complexes were synthesized by a simple precipitation method at room temperature, maintaining a stoichiometric ratio. These complexes were characterized by X‐ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), UV/Vis absorption and photoluminescence (PL) spectra. The X‐ray diffractogram exhibits well‐resolved peaks, revealing the crystalline nature of the synthesized complexes, FTIR confirms the molecular structure and the completion of quinoline ring formation in the metal complex. UV/Vis absorption and PL spectra of sodium‐doped Alq3 complexes exhibit high emission intensity in comparison with Alq3 phosphor, proving that when doped in Alq3, Na+ enhances PL emission intensity. The excitation spectra of the synthesized complexes lie in the range 242–457 nm when weak shoulders are also considered. Because the sharp excitation peak falls in the blue region of visible radiation, the complexes can be employed for blue chip excitation. The emission wavelength of all the synthesized complexes lies in the bluish green/green region ranging between 485 and 531 nm. The intensity of the emission wavelength was found to be elevated when Na+ is doped into Alq3. Because both the excitation and emission wavelengths fall in the visible region of electromagnetic radiation, these phosphors can also be employed to improve the power conversion efficiency of photovoltaic cells by using the solar spectral conversion principle. Thus, the synthesized phosphors can be used as bluish green/green light‐emitting phosphors for organic light‐emitting diodes, flat panel displays, solid‐state lighting technology – a step towards the desire to reduce energy consumption and generate pollution free light. Fungus gnats occur worldwide with more than 1 700 described species. They can cause serious damages on ornamentals, crop plants, and edible mushrooms, and are considered to be a serious pest in the last years. Bradysia difformisFrey (Diptera: Sciaridae) represents a common species in Europe. Usually, yellow sticky traps are used for monitoring and control in greenhouses and fluorescent tube‐based light traps are additionally applied for control in mushroom cultivation. The importance of such visual trapping measures for efficient monitoring or alternative control increases in biological and integrated plant protection. However, detailed color preferences of fungus gnats are mostly unknown. We studied the visual orientation of B. difformis with light‐emitting diodes (LEDs) in a broad range of peak wavelengths from 371 nm (ultraviolet, UV) to 619 nm (amber). We determined attractive wavelengths in consecutive choice experiments in daylight and darkness. Highest numbers of adult B. difformis were attracted to UV radiation (382 nm) followed by green‐yellow light (532–592 nm). The responses to UV and the green‐yellow range were relatively unspecific and mostly independent from intensity. Combination of UV and yellow LEDs improved trapping efficacy compared to a single UV or yellow LED trap, as well as compared to a common yellow sticky trap. When both wavelengths were compared to a black surface to increase contrasts, the black surface was preferred over yellow, but was less attractive than UV. Thus, B. difformis displays two, probably wavelength‐specific, behaviors to UV radiation and green‐yellow light, with UV being the most attractive stimulus. These behaviors might be directly related to underlying photoreceptors, suggesting dichromatic vision in B. difformis.  相似文献

Recent reduction in the ozone shield due to manufactured chlorofluorocarbons raised considerable interest in the ecological and physiological consequences of UV‐B radiation (λ=280–315 nm) in macroalgae. However, early life stages of macroalgae have received little attention in regard to their UV‐B sensitivity and UV‐B defensive mechanisms. Germination of UV‐B irradiated spores of the intertidal green alga Ulva pertusa Kjellman was significantly lower than in unexposed controls, and the degree of reduction correlated with the UV doses. After exposure to moderate levels of UV‐B irradiation, subsequent exposure to visible light caused differential germination in an irradiance‐ and wavelength‐dependent manner. Significantly higher germination was found at higher photon irradiances and in blue light compared with white and red light. The action spectrum for photoreactivation of germination in UV‐B irradiated U. pertusa spores shows a major peak at 435 nm with a smaller but significant peak at 385 nm. When exposed to December sunlight, the germination percentage of U. pertusa spores exposed to 1 h of solar radiation reached 100% regardless of the irradiation treatment conditions. After a 2‐h exposure to sunlight, however, there was complete inhibition of germination in PAR+UV‐A+UV‐B in contrast to 100% germination in PAR or PAR+UV‐A. In addition to mat‐forming characteristics that would act as a selective UV‐B filter for settled spores under the parental canopy, light‐driven repair of germination after UV‐B exposure could explain successful continuation of U. pertusa spore germination in intertidal settings possibly affected by intense solar UV‐B radiation.  相似文献

Rare‐earth ions play an important role in eco‐friendly solid‐state lighting for the lighting industry. In the present study we were interested in Eu3+ ion‐doped inorganic phosphors for near ultraviolet (UV) excited light‐emitting diode (LED) applications. Eu3+ ion‐activated SrYAl3O7 phosphors were prepared using a solution combustion route at 550°C. Photoluminescence characterization of SrYAl3O7:Eu3+ phosphors showed a 612 nm emission peak in the red region of the spectrum due to the 5D07F2 transition of Eu3+ ions under excitation at 395 nm in the near‐UV region and at the 466 nm blue excitation wavelength. These red and blue emissions are supported for white light generation for LED lighting. Structure, bonding between each element of the sample and morphology of the sample were analysed using X‐ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), which showed that the samples were crystallized in a well known structure. The phosphor was irradiated with a 60Co‐γ (gamma) source at a dose rate of 7.2 kGy/h. Thermoluminescence (TL) studies of these Eu3+‐doped SrYAl3O7 phosphors were performed using a Nucleonix TL 1009I TL reader. Trapping parameters of this phosphor such as activation energy (E), order of kinetics (b) and frequency factor (s) were calculated using Chen's peak shape method, the initial rise method and Ilich's method.  相似文献
