To verify if non-invasive collection of soft faeces (SF) from rabbits can be used as an index of bacterial biodiversity in caecal contents (CC), 24 weaned rabbits were given diets with low (LI) and high (HI) levels of insoluble fibre (neutral detergent fibre, NDF) and low (LS) and high (HS) levels of soluble fibre (neutral detergent soluble fibre, NDSF). After 21 days, animals were fitted with neck collars for SF collection. Two days later, animals were slaughtered and CC sampled. Total bacterial concentration quantified by real time PCR (log10 ng DNA/mg DM) was higher in SF than CC (2.615 vs. 2.383). Among diets, in CC it was (P = 0.059) lowest in LILS diet, whereas in SF it decreased (P = 0.025) with the NDF level. DGGE profiles showed that structure of bacterial communities of SF was close to that of CC; however, similarity was higher in LI than HI diets (0.82 vs. 0.74). Diversity indexes in CC decreased with NDSF (P < 0.05), whereas the effect of NDF (P < 0.05) was also appreciated in SF. Soft faeces can be an alternative to surgery or slaughter techniques to monitor changes in caecal bacterial community; however, high dietary NDF may decrease similarity between both communities.  相似文献

Two methods for preparing neutral detergent fibre (NDF) – the standard method of Van Soest, P.J., Robertson, G.B., Lewis, B.A., `Symposium: Carbohydrate methodology, metabolism, and nutritional implications in dairy cattle.' J. Dairy Sci. 74 3583–3597 (1991), and an alternative 16 h oven method at 90°C. Neutral detergent solution (100%) was compared with solutions diluted to 50, 25 and 0% of normal strength. Sodium sulfite and a heat-stable amylase were used in all treatments. Forty-four samples consisting of 11 dried and ensiled forages, three straws, nine starchy concentrates, 10 high-protein concentrate feeds, three samples of tropical browse leaves and eight manures from both ruminants and non-ruminants were used. The 0% treatment was the only treatment giving significantly higher NDF values compared to the others (p<0.05). Sensitivity to detergent strength seemed to be sample-specific in the high protein group as meat meal and maize gluten had higher NDF values at reduced detergent strengths. We recommend using the oven method and a detergent strength of 25% of the current standard in combination with sodium sulfite for low protein feeds. For starchy feeds a heat-stable amylase should be used and high lipid samples should be acetone-extracted before isolating NDF. For high protein feed samples only the standard method can yet be recommended. The oven method is labour-saving and more convenient and arguments for reduced detergent strength suggest lower cost and reduced waste water pollution.  相似文献

AIMS: To study the effect of the type of antibiotic used in medicated diets against pathogens and the feeding level on the microbial biodiversity in the rabbit caecum. METHODS AND RESULTS: Three groups of eight does were given a diet unsupplemented (NAB) or with 100 ppm of bacitracin (BAC) or tiamulin (TIA). Litter sizes of four does in each group were adjusted to five (LS5) or to nine (LS9), to manipulate their levels of feed intake. The feeding level strongly affected caecal microbiota in does fed on NAB and BAC diet, whereas the effect of the antibiotic was higher in TIA-supplemented animals, even prevailing over the effect of feeding level. Daily food intake and milk yield (P<0.05) and caecum weight (P<0.10) were higher in feeding of LS9 does. The total volatile fatty acid concentration was lower with BAC (P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS: The feeding level strongly affects caecal biodiversity in lactating does. The extent of the antibiotic effect depends on its nature, being significant with TIA but not with BAC. SIGNIFICANCE AND IMPACT OF THE STUDY: Changes in the feeding level promote different profiles of caecal microbiota. Therapeutic doses of TIA may affect caecal microbiota, whereas BAC would not reduce diversity.  相似文献

The effect of within-day delays of 0.5, 2.5, 4.5 and 6.5 h between collection of rumen fluid from a cow and initiation of in vitro fermentation, as well as storage of rumen fluid for 48 h at either −24°C or 6, 22 and 39°C, on in vitro digestion of neutral detergent fibre (NDF) at 48 h was determined. In addition, the 48 h in vitro digestion of NDF, determined with a minimum time delay (i.e., 0.5 h) between collection from the cow and initiation of incubation, was compared to NDF digestion determined in sacco at 48 h. Rumen inoculum from a single cow was utilized in a thrice replicated incubation with whole crop alfalfa, corn, cereal and sudangrass forages of a lower and higher quality. The same cow was used as the host for the in sacco bags. The in vitro procedure used a bulk procedure with 5.0 cm × 5.5 cm multi-weave polyethylene polyester polymer bags that retained particles of 25 mm and larger. The in sacco procedure used the same bags retained in a large mesh bag. A within-day time delay of up to 6.5 h between collection of rumen fluid from the cow and initiation of in vitro fermentation had no impact on measured 48 h in vitro digestion of NDF. In contrast, no temperature dependent storage procedure maintained 48 h in vitro digestion of NDF at levels determined with no 48 h storage, although high quality alfalfa was least affected by any storage procedure. The 48 h in vitro digestion of NDF, determined using the minimum time delay between collection from the cow and initiation of the incubation, was higher than values obtained in sacco. Results show that this bulk in vitro procedure resulted in higher 48 h digestion of NDF than those determined with a similar in sacco procedure, thereby suggesting that laboratories located some distance from the donor animal can utilize in vitro procedures to accurately estimate 48 h digestion of NDF. However, storage of rumen fluid for 48 h, by any temperature dependent procedure examined, in order to facilitate fewer trips to the donor animal, or trips of substantially longer duration, will underestimate 48 h digestion of NDF to an extent that depends upon the forage incubated.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to evaluate effects of partial replacement of neutral detergent soluble fibre (NDSF) for starch in diets varying in particle size (PS) of alfalfa hay on chewing activities, ruminal fermentation, nutrient digestibility and performance in mid-lactation dairy cows. Eight multiparous Holstein cows (146 ± 6.0 d in milk; 36.7 ± 2.57 kg milk/d) were used in a replicated 4 × 4 Latin square design with four 21 d periods with the last 7 d for data collection. The experiment was a 2 × 2 factorial arrangement with 2 levels of NDSF (low = 85 g/kg or high = 130 g/kg diet dry matter) each combined with 2 PS (short = 20 mm or long = 40 mm) of alfalfa hay. Results show that forage PS alone, or in combination with NDSF inclusion, had no effect on dry matter (DM) intake. Although total chewing, eating and ruminating times were not affected by treatments, eating time per kg of neutral detergent fibre (NDF) ingested was higher in long versus short alfalfa hay-based diets (P<0.05). Feeding long forage PS increased sorting of the diet against particles >19 mm, and in favor of those <8 mm (P<0.05). Feeding diets high in NDSF lowered DM intake (P<0.05), but increased apparent digestibility of all nutrients including NDF (P<0.05) independent of forage PS. Ruminal pH and concentrations of total volatile fatty acids were unaffected by dietary treatments, however the proportion of butyrate was higher in ruminal fluid of cows fed high NDSF diets (P<0.05). Changes in milk composition included lower milk crude protein content in high NDSF diets and higher lactose content for short hay-based diets (P<0.05). That milk yield and milk energy output were similar in low versus high NDSF diets suggests that high NDSF-fed cows had higher energy efficiency due to lower DM intake. Results suggest that, independent of forage PS, NDSF sources can be successfully included to partly replace starchy grains in diets exceeding minimum fibre recommendations.  相似文献

A study on turkeys was conducted to evaluate the administration of different levels of mannan-oligosaccharide (MOS) (0.1, 0.25 and 0.5%) to a diet without or with an antibiotic (Flavomycin, 8?mg/kg feed). The growth performance as well as caecal development and metabolism indicators of turkeys after 8 weeks of experimental feeding were estimated. No interactions were noted between the contents of antibiotic and MOS in the diet in any of the parameters examined. During 8 weeks of experimental feeding, the feed intake as well as feed conversion ratio were similar in all experimental groups. The turkeys fed a control diet (without MOS) supplemented with antibiotic were the heaviest, but there were no statistical differences between groups. Depending on dietary dose, MOS had a different influence on caecal digesta parameters. The medium level of dietary MOS (0.25%) resulted in the highest caecal pH, dry matter and protein concentrations as well as the bacterial glycolytic activity (including β-glucuronidase). Compared to other dietary treatments, the highest amount of MOS (0.5%) reduced ammonia concentration and enhanced volatile fatty acids concentration, especially of acetate and butyrate, in the caecal digesta. The medium level of dietary MOS caused a significant enhancement of propionate, iso-butyrate and iso-valerate concentrations in the digesta. The co-products from the industry are used to reduce costs in pig diets. However, the co-products used in pig diets are limited because of a high fibre content which is not digested by endogenous enzymes and is resistant to degradation in the small and large intestines. The aim of this study was to investigate digestibility of nutrients and energy, and energy utilisation in pigs fed diets with various soluble and insoluble dietary fibre (DF) from co-products. The experiment was performed as a 4 × 4 Latin square design (four diets and four periods) using four growing pigs (66.2 ± 7.8 kg) surgically fitted with a T-cannula in the end of the small intestine. The pigs were fed four experimental diets: low-fibre control (LF), high-fibre control (HF), high-soluble fibre (HFS) and high-insoluble fibre (HFI) diets. The apparent ileal digestibility (AID) and apparent total tract digestibility (ATTD) of ash, organic matter, CP, fat, carbohydrates, starch and non-starch polysaccharides (NSP) divided into cellulose and soluble and insoluble non-cellulosic polysaccharide residues were measured using chromic oxide as marker. The recovery of total solid materials, organic matter and total carbohydrates in ileal digesta in pigs fed the HF and HFS diets was higher than in pigs fed LF and HFI, whereas recovery of organic matter and total carbohydrates in faecal materials in the HFS diet was lowest (P < 0.05). AID of organic matter, total carbohydrates and starch was lowest for HFS diet (P < 0.05). ATTD of organic matter and CP was higher for LF diet compared with other diets (P < 0.05), whereas total NSP, cellulose and non-cellulosic polysaccharides residues were highest for HFS diet (P < 0.05). Lactic acid in ileal digesta was influenced by dietary composition (P < 0.05) whereas neither type nor level of DF affected short chain fatty acids. The digestible energy, metabolisable energy, net energy and retained energy intake were similar among diets without influence of DF inclusion (P > 0.05). The metabolisable energy:digestible energy ratio was lower when feeding the HFS diet because of a higher fermentative methane loss. Faecal nitrogen and carbon were positively correlated with DM intake and insoluble DF in the diets (P < 0.05), but nitrogen and carbon (% of intake) were similar among diets. The present findings suggest that high-DF co-products can be used as ingredients of pig diets when features of DF are considered.  相似文献

Effects of proportions of neutral detergent fibre (aNDFom) and starch, as well as their degradation rates, on rumen fermentation were tested using an in vitro rumen simulation system (SIMCO). The in vitro system was designed to simulate selective particle retention and had an average fluid volume of 1150 ml with a liquid dilution rate of approximately 0.07 h−1. Two types of hay (aNDFom sources) and two types of starch were each included at two different levels in the diet and were examined in an experiment following a 2×2×2 factorial arrangement of treatments (eight diet combinations). The hay was either late-cut timothy (Phleum pretense L.) or early cut meadow grass (Poa pratensis L.), with ruminal in situ aNDFom digestion rates of 0.03–0.04 and 0.07–0.08 h−1, respectively. The two starch types were raw (R) and cooked (C) potato starch with previously determined in vitro ruminal digestion rates of 0.04 and 0.20 h−1, respectively. The starch levels were 300 and 600 g/kg diet dry matter (DM) with the remaining being hay (282–682 g/kg DM) and peptone (14–111 g/kg DM). The aNDFom level varied among the diets with different starch levels and hay types. The peptone acted as a source of peptides and, together with ammonia salts from buffer, was used to balance the N contents of the diets. The feeding level for each of the eight vessels was 28 g DM/d. Two 10-day simulations were made with the system. The average pH was higher (P<0.05) for all treatments with raw potato starch (6.19) versus cooked starch (6.07). Protozoa scores, on a qualitative scale, declined faster at the higher starch level. The aNDFom digestibility was, as expected, higher (P<0.001) for meadow hay (0.57) than timothy (0.32), and was also higher (P<0.001) at the lower starch level (0.54) versus the higher (0.35). Microbial protein production efficiency (mg microbial N/g organic matter truly digested) was higher for the faster degrading aNDFom (P<0.01) and starch (P<0.05) sources, but was not affected by starch level. Cooked starch resulted in a lower acetate proportion (449 mmol/mol versus 591 mmol/mol VFA; P<0.001) but higher proportions of propionate (297 mmol/mol versus 236 mmol/mol VFA; P<0.001), and butyrate (169 mmol/mol versus 127 mmol/mol VFA; P<0.01). Butyrate increased with starch level (127 mmol/mol versus 169 mmol/mol VFA; P<0.01), and was also higher for meadow hay versus timothy (168 mmol/mol versus 128 mmol/mol VFA; P<0.01). Interactions between the treatments demonstrate that the response in VFA pattern to starch level is dependent on starch and aNDFom sources. Substrates such as starch and aNDFom are fermented differently depending on their rates of ruminal degradation.  相似文献

To improve understanding of the relationship between the diversity and function of the soil ecosystem, we investigated the effect of two different disturbances on soil bacterial communities—long-term exposure to the heavy metal mercury and transient exposure to the antibiotic tylosin. In the mercury-contaminated soil the diversity (Shannon index) was reduced as assessed from denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE) of amplified 16S rDNA sequences from the soil community DNA and from colony morphology typing of the culturable bacterial population. However, analysis of the substrate utilization profiles did not reveal any differences in diversity. In the tylosin-treated soil, DGGE revealed a small difference in the diversity of 16S rDNA compared to the control soil, whereas analysis of the colony morphology typing or substrate utilization results did not reveal any differences in diversity. Soil function was also affected by mercury contamination. The lag time before soil respiration increased following addition of glucose or alfalfa substrate was longer in the mercury-contaminated soil than in the control soil. Moreover, it was markedly prolonged in mercury-contaminated soil subjected to heat treatment prior to substrate addition, thus indicating reduced resistance to a new disturbance in the mercury-contaminated soil as compared to the control soil. Tylosin treatment did not have any significant effect on any of the respiration parameters measured, either with or without prior heat treatment of the soil.  相似文献

Previous work led to the proposal that the precision feeding of a high-concentrate diet may represent a potential method with which to enhance feed efficiency (FE) when rearing dairy heifers. However, the physiological and metabolic mechanisms underlying this approach remain unclear. This study used metabolomics analysis to investigate the changes in plasma metabolites of heifers precision-fed diets containing a wide range of forage to concentrate ratios. Twenty-four half-sib Holstein heifers, with a similar body condition, were randomly assigned into four groups and precision fed with diets containing different proportions of concentrate (20%, 40%, 60% and 80% based on DM). After 28 days of feeding, blood samples were collected 6 h after morning feeding and gas chromatography time-of-flight/MS was used to analyze the plasma samples. Parameters of oxidative status were also determined in the plasma. The FE (after being corrected for gut fill) increased linearly (P < 0.01) with increasing level of dietary concentrate. Significant changes were identified for 38 different metabolites in the plasma of heifers fed different dietary forage to concentrate ratios. The main pathways showing alterations were clustered into those relating to carbohydrate and amino acid metabolism; all of which have been previously associated with FE changes in ruminants. Heifers fed with a high-concentrate diet had higher (P < 0.01) plasma total antioxidant capacity and superoxide dismutase but lower (P ≤ 0.02) hydroxyl radical and hydrogen peroxide than heifers fed with a low-concentrate diet, which might indicate a lower plasma oxidative status in the heifers fed a high-concentrate diet. Thus, heifers fed with a high-concentrate diet had higher FE and antioxidant capacity but a lower plasma oxidative status as well as changed carbohydrate and amino acid metabolism. Our findings provide a better understanding of how forage to concentrate ratios affect FE and metabolism in the precision-fed growing heifers.  相似文献

Extensive use of chromium (Cr) and arsenic (As) based preservatives from the leather tanning industry in Pakistan has had a deleterious effect on the soils surrounding production facilities. Bacteria have been shown to be an active component in the geochemical cycling of both Cr and As, but it is unknown how these compounds affect microbial community composition or the prevalence and form of metal resistance. Therefore, we sought to understand the effects that long-term exposure to As and Cr had on the diversity and structure of soil microbial communities. Soils from three spatially isolated tanning facilities in the Punjab province of Pakistan were analyzed. The structure, diversity and abundance of microbial 16S rRNA genes were highly influenced by the concentration and presence of hexavalent chromium (Cr (VI)) and arsenic. When compared to control soils, contaminated soils were dominated by Proteobacteria while Actinobacteria and Acidobacteria (which are generally abundant in pristine soils) were minor components of the bacterial community. Shifts in community composition were significant and revealed that Cr (VI)-containing soils were more similar to each other than to As contaminated soils lacking Cr (VI). Diversity of the arsenic resistance genes, arsB and ACR3 were also determined. Results showed that ACR3 becomes less diverse as arsenic concentrations increase with a single OTU dominating at the highest concentration. Chronic exposure to either Cr or As not only alters the composition of the soil bacterial community in general, but affects the arsenic resistant individuals in different ways.  相似文献

In this study, we examine gene diversity for formyl-tetrahydrofolate synthetase (FTHFS), a key enzyme in homoacetogenesis, recovered from the gut microbiota of six species of higher termites. The "higher" termites (family Termitidae), which represent the majority of extant termite species and genera, engage in a broader diversity of feeding and nesting styles than the "lower" termites. Previous studies of termite gut homoacetogenesis have focused on wood-feeding lower termites, from which the preponderance of FTHFS sequences recovered were related to those from acetogenic treponemes. While sequences belonging to this group were present in the guts of all six higher termites examined, treponeme-like FTHFS sequences represented the majority of recovered sequences in only two species (a wood-feeding Nasutitermes sp. and a palm-feeding Microcerotermes sp.). The remaining four termite species analyzed (a Gnathamitermes sp. and two Amitermes spp. that were recovered from subterranean nests with indeterminate feeding strategies and a litter-feeding Rhynchotermes sp.) yielded novel FTHFS clades not observed in lower termites. These termites yielded two distinct clusters of probable purinolytic Firmicutes and a large group of potential homoacetogens related to sequences previously recovered from the guts of omnivorous cockroaches. These findings suggest that the gut environments of different higher termite species may select for different groups of homoacetogens, with some species hosting treponeme-dominated homoacetogen populations similar to those of wood-feeding, lower termites while others host Firmicutes-dominated communities more similar to those of omnivorous cockroaches.  相似文献

The present study compared the microbial diversity and activity during the application of various bioremediation processes to crude oil-contaminated soil. Five different treatments, including natural attenuation (NA), biostimulation (BS), biosurfactant addition (BE), bioaugmentation (BA), and a combined treatment (CT) of biostimulation, biosurfactant addition, and bioaugmentation, were used to analyze the degradation rate and microbial communities. After 120 days, the level of remaining hydrocarbons after all the treatments was similar, however, the highest rate (k) of total petroleum hydrocarbon (TPH) degradatioN was observed with the CT treatment (P < 0.05). The total bacterial counts increased during the first 2 weeks with all the treatments, and then remained stable. The bacterial communities and alkane monooxygenase gene fragment, alkB, were compared by denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE). The DGGE analyses of the BA and CT treatments, which included Nocardia sp. H17-1, revealed a simple dominant population structure, compared with the other treatments. The Shannon-Weaver diversity index (H') and Simpson dominance index (D), calculated from the DGGE profiles using 16S rDNA, showed considerable qualitative differences in the community structure before and after the bioremediation treatment as well as between treatment conditions.  相似文献

The microbial community of a conventional anaerobic-aerobic sequencing batch reactor was investigated by cloning and sequencing bacterial 16S rDNA. The 92 16S rDNA sequences analysed ranged across 50 different operational taxonomic units (OTU). The majority of these sequences were not closely related to known species. They belonged to 12 different groups, but essentially to the Cytophagales and the Proteobacteria beta, which represented 38% and 17% of the retrieved sequences respectively. No OTU numerically outnumbered the others. However, similarities were observed with previous reports on molecular characterisation of phosphorus-accumulating ecosystems, suggesting an enrichment in microorganisms belonging to the Rhodocyclus group. Thereafter, the ability of this anaerobic-aerobic microbial community to accumulate phosphorus with nitrate as its energy source was investigated. The reactor was shifted from anaerobic-aerobic running conditions to anaerobic-anoxic conditions by injection of nitrate; and its microbial community was monitored by PCR-single strand conformation polymorphism (SSCP). The reactor maintained a good phosphorus accumulation and similar SSCP microbial community patterns for a period of 17 days, suggesting that the same microbial community was able to respire both oxygen and nitrate. However, this situation was unstable, since a breakdown in phosphorus accumulation occurred thereafter.  相似文献

Melatonin treatment in adult cashmere goats can increase cashmere yield and improve cashmere fibre quality by inducing cashmere growth during cashmere non-growth period, of which time cashmere goats are in the mid and late stages of lactation. However, whether melatonin treatment in adult cashmere goats affects their offspring’s growth performance remains unknown. Therefore, the objectives of the current study were to determine the effects of melatonin treatment in adult cashmere goats on cashmere and milk production performance in dams and on hair follicle development and subsequent cashmere production in their offspring. Twenty-four lactating Inner Mongolian Cashmere goat dams (50 ± 2 days in milk, mean ± SD) and their single-born female offspring (50 ± 2 days old, mean ± SD) were randomly assigned to one of two groups supplemented with melatonin implants (MEL; n = 12) or without (CON; n = 12). The melatonin implants were subcutaneously implanted behind the ear at a dose of 2 mg/kg live weight on two occasions – 30 April and 30 June 2016. The results demonstrated that melatonin treatment in adult cashmere goats increased cashmere production and improved cashmere fibre quality as indicated by greater cashmere yield, longer cashmere fibre staple length, finer cashmere fibre diameter and thicker cashmere fibre density. The milk fat content was higher in MEL compared with CON cashmere goats. The daily yields of milk production, milk protein and milk lactose were lower in MEL compared with CON cashmere goats. Serum melatonin concentrations were greater, serum prolactin concentrations were lower and milk melatonin concentrations and yields were greater in MEL compared with CON cashmere goats. With regard to offspring, there were no differences in cashmere yield, fibre staple length, fibre diameter and fibre density at yearling combing, and the primary and secondary hair follicles population and maturation between treatments. In conclusion, melatonin treatment in adult cashmere goats during cashmere non-growth period is a practical and an effective way in cashmere industry as indicated by not only increasing cashmere yield and improving cashmere fibre quality in adult cashmere goat dams but also having no impairment in hair follicle development and the subsequent cashmere production in their single-born offspring.  相似文献

We have recently reported that exposure of pregnant rats to 60 Hz at field strengths up to 0.5 mT during the entire period of pregnancy did not induce any biologically significant effects on both pregnant dams and embryo-fetal development. The present study was carried out to investigate the potential effects of gestational and lactational MF exposure on pregnancy, delivery, and lactation of dams and growth, behavior, and mating performance of their offspring in rats. Timed-pregnant female Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats (24/group) received continuous exposure to 60 Hz magnetic field (MF) at field strengths of 0 (sham control), 5 microT, 83.3 microT, or 0.5 mT. Dams received MF or sham exposures for 21 h/day from gestational day 6 through lactational day 21. Experimentally generated MF was monitored continuously throughout the study. No exposure-related changes in clinical signs, body weight, food consumption, pregnancy length, and necropsy findings were observed in dams. Parameters of growth, behavior, and reproductive performance of offspring showed no changes related to MF exposure. There were no adverse effects on embryo-fetal development of F2 offspring from dams exposed to MF. In conclusion, exposure of pregnant SD rats to 60 Hz at field strengths up to 0.5 mT from gestational day 6 to lactational day 21 did not produce biologically significant effects in dams, F1 offspring, or F2 fetuses.  相似文献

A study was conducted to assess the potential of rumen in vitro incubation for gas production (RIVIGP) and summative equations of detergent system (SEDS) to obtain estimates of energy values in mixed diets. The feeding experiments included digestion trials (DT) to obtain energy values and feeding trials (FT) to assess the potential of energy values obtained by DT, RIVIGP and SEDS to account for the observed performance in lactating cows. Six feeding experiments were conducted using six diets. Each experiment included four cows except the fifth, which included three cows. The FT lasted for 9–11 weeks and the DT for seven days during the FT. The diet was made from either finger millet straw (FMS) or chaffy-paddy hay (CPH) and compounded feed mixture (CFM). The metabolisable energy (ME, MJ kg−1 DM) content of total diet at maintenance level of intake obtained by DT for diets 1–6 were 11.0, 9.2, 10.5, 10.1, 8.8 and 7.6 respectively. The corresponding estimates obtained from RIVIGP and SEDS were 10.2 and 10.2, 9.1 and 9.2, 9.5 and 10.7, 9.4 and 10.5, 8.3 and 7.1, 6.6 and 6.9 respectively. The relationship of ME (DT) (y) with ME (RIVIGP) and ME (SEDS) were y=1.11+.95x (r 0.96, P <0.01) and y=3.5+0.66x (r 0.91, P<0.01) respectively. The mean ME output (Maintenance+4% FCM yield+gain) for the six experiments was 103.5±2.9. The ME intake estimated from ME obtained from DT, RIVIGP and SEDS were 112.7±5.3, 106.4±4.3 and 111.1±6.7 respectively. Thus the observed performance of lactating cows expressed in terms of the total ME output was accountable to the extent of 92, 97 and 93% of ME intake estimates obtained from ME values derived by DT, RIVIGP and SEDS respectively, indicating the potentials of ME values obtained from RIVIGP and SEDS in diet formulation for lactating cows.  相似文献
