In the present study ectomycorrhizal development of Laccaria bicolor, Rhizopogon luteolus and Suillus bovinus associated with Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris) seedings was studied as affected by primary stand humus, secondary stand humus, podsolic sandy soil or peat in perspex growth chambers. After 9 weeks, ectomycorrhizal development with S. bovinus was significantly greater in peat and primary stand humus than in secondary stand humus or podsolic sandy soil. Ectomycorrhizal development with R. luteolus in secondary stand humus was higher than in primary stand humus. Degree of ectomycorrhizal development of L. bicolor, R. lutuelus and S. bovinus on Scots pine was related to potassium concentration, organic matter content and pH of the soils suggesting that chemical composition of the soils affects ectomycorrhizal development.  相似文献

Abstract

Hedgehog (Hh) signaling plays many key roles in the development of Drosophila and vertebrate embryos including regulation of craniofacial development. The seven-transmembrane protein, smoothened (Smo) transduces the Hh signal across the plasma membrane as an essential receptor of PTCHED1/2. There are few studies that evaluate the detailed expression of Smo in mouse embryonic craniofacial development. We investigated the expression patterns of Smo during murine embryonic craniofacial development using in situ hybridization (ISH), studies of whole-mounts and sections, immunohistochemistry, quantitative real time PCR, and Western blot analysis. We found that Smo mRNA was expressed in the face of mouse embryos at 11 and 12.5 days post coitum (dpc). After 13.5 dpc, the expression decreased to a low level and was faintly detected after birth. Smo protein could be detected also in embryos at 11, 12.5, and 14.5 dpc. After 15.5 dpc, the expression was very faint and paralleled the gene expression studies. No expression was detected in whisker follicle during facial development and faint signal was detected in Meckel's cartilage. These findings concerning Smo expression should guide further investigation of sonic Hh signaling pathway gene function during maxillofacial development.  相似文献

Iris bulbs and Crocus corms were planted at two planting dates in sandy soil infested with Pythium spp. At monthly intervals during the growing season root rot infection was assessed over 3 consecutive years and disease development curves were predicted for both crops. The disease development was remarkably different for Iris and Crocus and the curve shape was determined by the crop rather than by the Pythium species. Planting date had a significant effect on disease development in both crops. No correlation was found between disease development and soil temperature.  相似文献

Anther and ovule genesis preconditions crop fertilization and fruit production; however, coordinative regulation of anther and ovule development and underlying molecular pathways remain largely elusive. Here, we found that SPOROCYTELESS (SPL)/NOZZLE (NZZ) expression was nearly abolished in a Cucumis sativus (cucumber) mutant with severely defective anther and ovule development. CsSPL was expressed specifically in the developing anthers and ovules. Knock‐down of CsSPL reduced male and female fertility with malformed pollen and suppressed ovule development. Importantly, CsSPL directly interacted with CsWUS (WUSCHEL) in the nucellus and YABBY family genes in integuments, and positively regulated CsWUS expression, meanwhile the HD‐ZIP III gene CsPHB (PHABULOSA), expressed specifically in the nucellus, promoted CsSPL expression by binding to the CsSPL promoter. Thus, CsSPL acts as an adaptor to link CsPHB and CsWUS functioning, underpinning a previously unidentified regulatory pathway orchestrating sex organ development in planta. In addition, auxin accumulation was reduced in the reproductive organs of CsSPL knock‐down plants. Biochemical analyses further showed that CsSPL stimulated the expression of AUXIN RESPONSE FACTOR 3 (CsARF3), and was positively regulated by CsARF13 during reproductive organ development, indicating sequential interactions of CsSPL with auxin signaling components in orchestrating anther and ovule development.  相似文献

Detailed studies of the infection processes of Oidium neolycopersici (tomato powdery mildew) and plant tissue responses were carried out on 10 Lycopersicon spp. accessions and one of each species of Cucumis sativus, Datura stramonium, Lactuca sativa, Petunia hybrida and Pisum sativum with different levels of resistance. Germination of O. neolycopersici conidia was not inhibited by the host plant. However, in the early stages of O. neolycopersici infection significant differences in conidial germ tube development on resistant and susceptible plant lines were observed. The first substantial differences appeared after 24 h post inoculation (hpi). Mycelia and conidiophores developed on susceptible lines; however, there was no mycelial development on resistant plant lines. The most frequent resistant response in Lycopersicon species was the necrotic (hypersensitive) reaction (HR), occasionally followed by pathogen development. The completely resistant accession L. hirsutum (LA 1347) showed only a limited number of necrotic host cells per infection site (2%). In Oidium resistant tomato lines OR 4061 and OR 960008 the existence of adult resistance was detected. This phenomenon occurred mainly in accession OR 4061. Rapid development and profuse sporulation of O. neolycopersici was observed on juvenile plants (6–8 wk old), however this was in contrast to the slow development and sporadic sporulation observed on 4 month old plants. Evidence of posthaustorial resistance was observed in the interaction of O. neolycopersici with non-host species (Lactuca sativa and Pisum sativum.) This was in contrast to Datura stramonium and Petunia hybrida, where development of powdery mildew was delayed at a later stage in the infection cycle. With the exception of Pisum sativum, the necrotic (hypersensitive) response was observed often.  相似文献

Migratory behaviour in insects correlates with reproductive development in females, and migration often occurs during the pre‐reproductive stage of adults. The relationship between ovarian development and population status of the white‐backed planthopper Sogatella furcifera (Horváth) and the brown planthopper Nilaparvata lugens (Stål) was evaluated. Females of both species were captured in rice fields and light traps and then dissected in double‐season rice‐farming regions of southern China. The ovarian development of S. furcifera and N. lugens was divided into five levels, following previous studies. The population statuses of both species were examined based on the ovarian development of female adults caught in rice paddies. The ovarian development in N. lugens females caught in light traps mostly ranged from level I to level II, whereas that in S. furcifera females caught in light traps mostly ranged from level I to level III. During peak immigration, ovarian development in N. lugens females was mainly at level II, whereas that in S. furcifera females was mainly at level II and sporadically at level III. During peak emigration, both S. furcifera and N. lugens showed level I ovarian development. The temporal dynamics of ovarian development in light trap catches revealed that (i) significant emigration and partial immigration periods occur in S. furcifera, with ovarian development mainly at level I and sporadically from level II to level III and (ii) numerous immigrants of N. lugens were detected during sedentary and local breeding periods. The temporal dynamics of ovarian development provides more information than does the paddy population. Thus, this study proposes another method for pest forecasting, which is more precise and efficient than conventional forecasting methods such as light trap catching and monitoring population dynamics in rice fields.  相似文献

Abstract

It has been suggested that Vibrio vulnificus attaches to plankton and algae and is found in large numbers in the environment. Factors affecting attachment, biofilm formation and morphology of V. vulnificus have not been thoroughly investigated. This study evaluated the role of quorum sensing (QS) and environmental conditions on biofilm development of V. vulnificus. It was found that biofilm development by V. vulnificus was affected by nutrient and glucose concentration, but not by NaCl concentration or temperature under the conditions used here. Moreover, biofilm development of a QS mutant strain proceeded rapidly and sloughing occurred earlier than for the isogenic parent strain. There was a significant loss of viability for the QS mutant biofilm early in development. Hence, it is hypothesised that factors regulated by the QS system play a role in proper biofilm development and maintenance of V. vulnificus. Furthermore, it is shown that biofilm development varied among isolates.  相似文献

Anabarilius grahami is a cyprinoid fish endemic to Fuxian Lake, Yunnan, China. In this study, a comprehensive staging series of A. grahami was produced. The embryonic development of A. grahami was divided into six main periods: zygote period, cleavage period, blastula period, gastrula period, segmentation period and hatching period. Its embryonic development is essentially similar to that of zebrafish Danio rerio but relatively slower. The expression patterns of A. grahami sox2, pax6a, six3a and rx2 genes were also cloned and checked during eye development. The four genes showed similar expression patterns to their D. rerio homologues, suggesting the evolutionary conservation of the regulatory network of eye development.  相似文献

In order to gain a better understanding of rice flower development, a rice flower mutant supernumerary lodicules (snl), which was identified from ethyl methane sulfonate (EMS)-treated Jinhui10 (Oryza sativa L. ssp. indica) was used in the present study. In the snl mutant, the palea obtained lemma identity, additional glume-like organs formed, lodicules increased and elongated, stamens decreased, and a few aberrant carpels formed. These phenotypes suggest that SNL is involved in the entire rice flower development. SNL was mapped between two simple sequence repeat markers RM3512 and RM1342 on chromosome 2, an approximate 800 kb region, and it co-segregated with SSR215. We conclude that SNL is a novel gene involved in flower development in rice. The present study will be useful for further cloning of the SNL gene, which will contribute to the elucidation of rice flower development.  相似文献

Endosperm cell and starch granule (amyloplast) development of six maize (Zea mays L.) genotypes, normal, amylose-extender (ae), sugary (su), waxy (wx), amylose-extender sugary (ae su), and amylose-extender waxy (ae wx), was compared. Endosperms of all genotypes were indistinguishable at 14 days after pollination. Cells were highly vacuolated and those in the central crown area of the kernel contained small starch granules in close association with the nucleus. Cellular and nuclear enlargement occurred during endosperm development in all genotypes, and major and minor gradients in physiological age of endosperm cells were observed in all kernels. Amyloplast development varied with genotype. Plastid development in normal and wx cells was characterized by an initial starch granule formation followed by granule enlargement to cell maturity. Endosperms homozygous for ae (ae, ae su, and ae wx) developed abnormal plastid-granules. Secondary granule formations preceded development of abnormality in ae and ae su, but not in ae wx endosperms. In contrast to ae and ae su starch granules, ae wx granules were highly birefringent indicating a high degree of crystallinity. In all three ae genotypes, abnormality increased as a function of kernel and physiological cell age. The su mutant had two distinct effects on amyloplast development. First, a mobilization of the initially formed starch, and second a synthesis and accumulation of phytoglycogen and the formation of large rounded plastids. In ae su plastid development, there was a mobilization of the starch initially formed (resulting in irregularly shaped, nonbirefringent granules) but only small amounts of phytoglycogen were produced.  相似文献

Summary The development of the brainstem auditory evoked potential (BAEP) was studied in mallard duck (Anas platyrhynchos) embryos and hatchlings from 5–6 days before hatching through two days after hatching in response to tone pips of different frequencies. BAEPs showed a different time of onset and a different rate of development for low, middle, and high frequencies. Although auditory sensitivity in the mid-frequency range (1.0, 1.5, 2.0, and 3.0 kHz) appeared 1–2 days later than in the low-frequency range, development of the BAEPs in the mid-frequency range was almost complete by hatching. In contrast, the development of auditory sensitivity in the low- and high-frequency ranges continued to develop after hatching. Chinese jujube (Ziziphus jujube Mill.) is important economically for its fruit and also bears attractive medical value. Its flower development concurs with the growth of current fruit bearing shoots (FBSs). However, events involved in current FBSs, including FBS differentiation, flower development, and reliable housekeeping gene are still unknown. In this study, the morphology of FBS development and floral formation were examined and expression profiles of several potential internal control genes was determined. These included genes encoding proteins involved in protein translation (translation elongation factor 1α, ZjEF1), protein folding (cyclophilin, ZjCyP) or degradation (ubiquitin extension protein, ZjUBQ), and proteins involved in the structure of the cytoskeleton (β-actin, ZjACT) or nucleosome (histone3, ZjH3). Our results showed that the floral development in early growing FBSs (less than 20 mm in length) or shoot apices was not complete. Among ZjACT, ZjEF1, ZjCyP, ZjUBQ, and ZjH3, ZjH3 was the most suitable housekeeping gene to evaluate FBS development, based on their expression in early growing FBSs, shoot apices, and different organs. These results will be useful for further molecular mechanism study about FBS development in Chinese jujube.  相似文献

为了解梨蒴珠藓(Bartramia pomiformis)孢子萌发和原丝体发育特征,在显微镜下观察室内人工培养的梨蒴珠藓单倍配子体发育过程。结果表明,梨蒴珠藓孢子吸水膨胀5 d后,开始破壁萌发,原丝体系统以丝状绿丝体为主,轴丝体在绿丝体上分化产生。培养22 d后,配子体在轴丝体细胞上分化产生。参照Nishida的标准,梨蒴珠藓孢子萌发类型为真藓型(Bryum-type)。这为梨蒴珠藓的人工扩繁提供了发育学基础资料。  相似文献

为了解MADS-box基因在向日葵(Helianthus annuus)花发育过程中的作用,采用RT-PCR技术克隆了1个MADS-box基因新成员HAM23-like,开放阅读框为831bp,编码276个氨基酸,相对分子量为30.52k D,理论等电点为9.42。系统发育分析表明,HAM23-like与拟南芥的AGL18聚于同一分支,具有较近的亲缘关系。qRT-PCR分析表明,HAM23-like基因在花和成熟果实(籽粒饱满期)中的表达量较高;HAM23-like在开花当天的雄蕊中的表达量最高;随着花的发育,HAM 23-like表达量逐渐升高,在开花后5 d (果实形成早期)达到最高表达水平。因此,推断HAM23-like基因可能与向日葵花器官后期发育和瘦果早期发育相关。  相似文献

The level of locomotor activity throughout the entire postembryonic development of two crickets, Acheta domesticus (L.) and Gryllus bimaculatus De Geer, has been investigated under controlled laboratory conditions. In both species the level of activity was subject to changes in the course of their development. Activity was reduced during the molting periods, creating a fluctuating pattern, yet in both species it was significantly higher at the end of development than at the beginning. Although the general trend of changes occurring was similar in both species, there were significant between-species differences in their pattern. The activity of A. domesticus larvae seemed to increase more gradually and it was significantly higher than the activity of G. bimaculatus larvae.  相似文献

β-Catenin plays a crucial role in embryonic development and responds to the activation of several signal transduction pathways. In this paper, in order to understand the functions of β-catenin gene in early embryonic development of Artemia sinica, the complete cDNA sequence was cloned for the first time using RACE technology, then the sequence was analyzed by some bioinformatic methods. The expression of the β-catenin gene was investigated at various stages during the embryonic development using quantitative real-time PCR and immunohistochemistry assay. Through the investigation, the result of real-time PCR illustrated that β-catenin gene might relate to the response of A. sinica’s immune system and osmotic pressure system in early embryonic developmental stage. Meanwhile, Immunohistochemistry assay demonstrated that during embryonic development, β-catenin was mainly expressed in the cephalothorax. Besides, we discovered that β-catenin might not be a maternal gene in A. sinica, and this new phenomenon may explain a constitutive and regional expression during the early embryonic development of A. sinica.  相似文献
