The "semi-excitation" is an excitation (like phenomenon) found by the authors, first in ENM and then in nerve during observation of the action potential and impedance decrease associated with excitation. The phenomenon was further investigated in relation to the action potential and impedance decrease (for AC of 13 kHz) of the stimulated site on the sciatic nerve and ENM. The nature of the phenomenon was the following. 1. The configuration of the action potential and impedance decrease were almost the same as that of the (complete) excitation, but the durations of the potential change (plateau) and impedance decrease depended on entirely to the duration of stimulating current. 2. Submaximum amplitude of action potential and impedance decrease were graded by the intensity of the stimulating current, but the threshold of this excitation was found. 3. During or after the semi-excitation, absolute or relative refractory period was not found. 4. Both in nerve and ENM, transition from complete excitation to semi-excitation or vice versa was observed. 5. Semi-excitation was found to occurr in the state of reduced membrane potential of the nerve and ENM.  相似文献

The circumoral nerve ring and the radial nerve cords (RNCs) of Eupentacta fraudatrix and Pseudocnus lubricus (Holothuroidea) were examined as an example of holothurian nervous tissue. The RNC is composed of outer ectoneural and inner hyponeural layers, which are interconnected with one another via short neural bridges. The circumoral nerve ring is purely ectoneural. Both ectoneural and hyponeural components are epithelial tubes with a thick neuroepithelium at one side. A thin ciliated non-neuronal epithelium complements the neuroepithelium to form a tube, thereby enclosing the epineural and hyponeural canals. The whole of the ectoneural and hyponeural subsystems is separated from the surrounding tissue by a continuous basal lamina. The nerve ring and the ectoneural and hyponeural parts of the radial nerves are all neuroepithelia composed of supporting cells and neurons. Supporting cells are interpreted as being glial cells. Based on ultrastructural characters, three types of neurons can be distinguished: (1) putative primary sensory neurons, whose cilium protrudes into the epineural or hyponeural canal; (2) non-ciliated neurons with swollen rough endoplasmic reticulum cisternae; (3) monociliated neurons that are embedded in the trunk of nerve fibers. Different types of synapses occur in the neuropile area. They meet all morphological criteria of classical chemical synapses. Vacuolated cells occur in the neuroepithelium of E. fraudatrix, but are absent in P. lubricus; their function is unknown. The cells of the non-neuronal epithelia that overlie the ectoneural and hyponeural canals are hypothesized to belong to the same cell type as the supporting cells of the neuroepithelium.  相似文献

Dorsal root ganglia were extirpated from 9-day old embryonic chickens and solubilized in phosphate buffered saline containing 0.5% Noniodet P 40 detergent. When nerve growth factor binding studies are performed on these samples, the expected curvilinear Rosenthal (Scatchard) plot is obtained. However, when the solubilized cell sample is made 1-2 mM in phenylmethylsulfonyl fluoride and nerve growth factor binding is determined, a linear Rosenthal (Scatchard) plot is obtained. The equilibrium dissociation constant obtained from the slope of the line is 1.9 X 10(-9) M, identical to the equilibrium dissociation constant of the low affinity receptor. A similar phenomenon is observed when rat pheochromocytoma cells are solubilized in the non-ionic detergent and nerve growth factor binding is determined. No high affinity binding can be detected for either cell type when detergent solubilized cells are incubated with phenylmethylsulfonyl fluoride.  相似文献

Recently, we have shown that green tea (GT) consumption improves both reflexes and sensation in unilateral chronic constriction injury to the sciatic nerve. Considering the substantial neuroprotective properties of GT polyphenols, we sought to investigate whether (−)-epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) could protect the sciatic nerve and improve functional impairments induced by a crushing injury. We also examined whether neuronal cell apoptosis induced by the crushing injury is affected by EGCG treatment.  相似文献

Summary The mean peak CV's of two electrophysiologically defined groups of fibres in the intestinal nerve of the chicken have been determined.One group of fibres is constituted by the processes of enteric cholinergic neurones which project along the side branches of the intestinal nerve and synapse within the nerve trunk. These preganglionic fibres have a mean peak CV (at 40 °C) of 0.31 m·s–1.The other group is made up of fibres of postganglionic neurones which project orally along the nerve trunk. The results suggest that some postganglionic neurones project only as far as the next ganglion whilst others project beyond the next two ganglia for distances greater than 5 mm. The postganglionic fibres have a mean peak CV (at 40 °C) of 0.71 m·s–1.These figures demonstrate that both pre- and postganglionic fibres are unmyelinated. Dissections of Sudan black B stained specimens reveal that, of a complex of medial, intermediate, and lateral muscles of skates, presumed homologous to the cucullaris of sharks, only the lateral muscle is innervated by a branch or branches of the vagus and is inserted, in part, to the fused pharyngobranchials of the caudal visceral arches. The medial and intermediate muscles are supplied by separate branches of rostral spinal nerves and do not attach to the branchial skeleton. The lateral muscle therefore is the most likely homologue of the cucullaris (trapezius) of sharks and perhaps other fishes and tetrapods. The medial and intermediate muscles appear to be part of the axial musculature.  相似文献

During alpaca testis development and spermatogenesis, nerve growth factor (NGF) may play an important role. The main aim of this study was to determine the expression and localization of NGF in the alpaca testis, and to discuss the important role of NGF in alpaca reproductive characteristics. Immunohistochemical staining technique and real-time PCR were used. The expression of NGF in the same cells one-month old (newborn) alpacas 12-month, and 24-month old alpacas showed significant differences (p < 0.05); 12- and 24-month old alpacas showed no significant differences (p > 0.05); NGF at different cell stages showed no significant differences (p > 0.05). It suggests that NGF may be involved in the regulation of spermatogenesis, which provides direct evidence for NGF action in the alpaca testis during postnatal development and spermatogenesis.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: The aim of this study was to test the feasibility of using the tail of Macaca mulatta for neurophysiological testing of the peripheral nervous system. METHODS: Motor and sensory nerve conduction studies (NCS) of the tail were obtained by surface stimulation and recording. The technique utilized was novel. Unlike other NCS obtained from other peripheral nerves, this technique did not require any special neurophysiological expertise. RESULTS: The latency of the motor and sensory response was 2.5 +/- 0.71 and 1.1 +/- 0.27 ms respectively. The amplitude of the motor and sensory response was 8.1 +/- 5.1 mV and 14.6 +/- 9.4 microV respectively. Similar to human beings, there was a statistically significant relationship between age and motor amplitude, motor latency and sensory latency. CONCLUSIONS: Based on our results, a relatively simple, reproducible neurophysiological monitoring technique of the peripheral nervous system is possible.  相似文献
