The malposition of an otherwise normal-appearing external ear is not uncommon in certain craniofacial syndromes. This paper presents a 10-year experience of 14 patients who underwent external ear repositioning. In this technique, a posterior incision is used to mobilize surrounding soft tissues circumferentially around the external auditory canal, which then serves as an axis for anterior rotation and elevation. Elevation of up to 8 mm and rotation up to 30 degrees can be achieved. Further elevation is limited by the ensuing constriction and resistance of the external auditory canal. More rotation can be achieved with a Z-plasty transposition of an inferiorly based postauricular skin flap. 相似文献

Retinoic acid is a morphogenic substance capable of inducing a variety of limb malformations, including duplications and reduction-type defects. Whether retinoic acid plays a similar role in controlling pattern formation of other vertebrate structures is unclear. Many fetuses and infants exposed to isotretinoin (13-cis-retinoic acid) in utero have a characteristic pattern of anomalies, chiefly involving brain, craniofacial, and thymic morphogenesis. Among the craniofacial anomalies, external ear malformations are common and the specific types of auricular malformations include partial duplications, and tissue reductions and displacements. These similarities to the types of limb malformations that retinoic acid can induce suggest that retinoic acid may play an important role in controlling pattern formation of facial structures. 相似文献

Summary The structure of elastic cartilage in the external ear of the rat was investigated by transmission and scanning electron microscopy.The narrow subperichondrial, boundary zone contains predominantly ovoid cells rich in cell organelles: mitochondria, Golgi complex, granular endoplasmic reticulum and small (40–100 nm) vesicles. Scarce glycogen granules and bundles of 6–7 nm cytoplasmic filaments are also present. Deeper in the boundary zone, one or more cytoplasmic lipid droplets appear and cytofilaments become more abundant.Fully differentiated chondrocytes in the central zone of the cartilage plate resemble white adipose cells. They are globular and contain a single, large cytoplasmic lipid droplet. The cytoplasm is reduced to a thin peripheral rim; it contains a flattened nucleus, few cytoplasmic organelles and abundant, densely packed, cytoplasmic filaments.The intercellular matrix is very sparse. The pericellular ring consists of collagen fibrils about 20 nm in diameter and a proteoglycan cartilage matrix in the form of a stellate reticulum. The complex of these two structures appears in the scanning electron micrographs as a network of randomly oriented, ca 100 nm thick fibrils. Spaces between pericellular rings of matrix also contain thick elastic fibers or plates, apparently devoid of microfibrils. In scanning electron micrographs elastic fibers could be detected only in a few areas, in which they were not obscured by other constituents of the matrix. Immature forms of elastic fibers, oxytalan (pre-elastic) and elaunin fibers, were found in the perichondrial and boundary zones. 相似文献

目的报道1例发生在双外耳道的曲霉病。方法取双耳耵聍行真菌直接镜检,将耵聍接种到沙堡培养基培养,并对培养出的病原菌进行形态学鉴定和rDNA序列分析。结果耵聍真菌直接镜检阳性,耵聍在沙堡培养基25℃培养长出沙褐色菌落,28℃小培养后光镜及扫描电镜下见分生孢子头呈柱状,顶囊半球形,直径约10μm,小梗双层,两层小梗的长度无明显差别,平行紧密生长在顶囊的上2/3处。分生孢子呈球形,小而光滑。分生孢子梗壁光滑、透明。提取真菌总DNA用PCR方法扩增rDNA序列,测序后登录Gene Bank进行比对,该菌与土曲霉菌株ATCC1012 rDNA序列一致性达100%,鉴定为土曲霉。患者外用4%氟康唑注射液直接滴耳,2次/d,治疗1个月后痊愈。结论确诊1例双外耳道土曲霉病,局部应用氟康唑注射液治疗外耳道曲霉病有效。 相似文献

Sound pressure level of tone was measured using a probe tube microphone at entrance to the dog's external meatus as a function of the azimuth of the sound source. It was demonstrated that directionality of the dog's external ear and corresponding values of interaural intensity differences (delta I) were gradually increased as the tone frequency raised from 0.5 to 40 kHz. Transfer in pinnae locations from lateral to frontal positions (one of the components of orientation reaction to an unexpected sound) resulted in some narrowing of directionality diagrams and in a displacement of their maxima towards the head midline. It was calculated that owing to this effects the extent of monotonic part of the function relating delta I and azimuth of a source were enlarged. The lateral pinnae position was suggested to be optimal for sound detection and the frontal one for localization of the moving sound source. 相似文献

Studies on the elasmobranch inner ear have focused predominantly on a small group of sharks, particularly, carcharhinids. As a result, subsequent studies in other species have subdivided species into two main groups: those typical and those atypical of carcharhinid sharks. This study proposes a different set of inner‐ear morphology groupings to those previously suggested. The inner ears from 17 species of elasmobranchs (representing both sharks and rays) are examined in this study and based on morphometric data some groups include both rays and sharks. Four groups are now proposed based predominantly on the shape and dimensions of the membranous otoconial organs, and characteristics of the semicircular canals. Evident morphological differences between the ear types belonging to the new groups include the membranes of the semicircular canals being bound to the otoconial organs in some species, while only being connected via the canal ducts in others, as well as clear variation present in saccular organ size. Previous studies examining variation in the inner ear have attributed differences to either phylogeny or functional significance. Results from this study suggest that neither phylogeny nor feeding strategy solely accounts for the morphological diversity present in the external morphology of the elasmobranch inner ear. J. The human ear is a defining feature of the face. Its subtle structures convey signs of age and sex that are unmistakable yet not easily defined. With analysis of normative cross-sectional data, this study explored anatomic and aesthetic differences in the ear between men and women, as well as changes in ear morphology with age. A total of 123 volunteers were randomly selected for this study. The cohort consisted of 89 women ages 19 to 65 years (median age, 42 years) and 34 men ages 18 to 61 years (median age, 35 years). The average total ear height across the entire cohort for both left and right ears was 6.30 cm, average lobular height was 1.88 cm, and average lobular width was 1.96 cm. As expected based on head size, significant sex-related differences were noted in the distance from the lateral palpebral commissure to both the helical root and insertion of the lobule. Measured distances in both vectors were approximately 4.6 percent longer in men than in women. Similarly, the height of the pinna was significantly larger in men than in women by approximately 6.5 percent. The average height and width of the lobule, however, were nearly identical in men and women. Analysis of age-related data showed a significant difference in the total ear height between the subpopulations; however, this difference was not significant after the lobular height was subtracted from total ear height, suggesting that the lobule was the only ear structure that changed significantly with age. In addition, lobular width decreased significantly with age. This study establishes normative data for ear morphology and clearly demonstrates the changes in earlobe morphology that occur with advancing age. 相似文献

The cartilage in the external ear of the rat belongs to the group of secondary cartilages and it has a unique structural organization. The chondrocytes are transformed into typical adipose cells, the proteoglycan cartilage matrix is reduced to thin capsules around the cells and the rest of the extracellular matrix is occupied by a network of coarse elastic fibers. It appears late in development (16-day fetus) and needs more than one month for final development. The differentiation proceeds in several steps which partly overlap: the appearance of collagen fibrils, elastin fibers, the proteoglycan matrix, and the adipose transformation of chondrocytes. The phenotype of this cartilage and the course of its differentiation are very stable, even in very atypical experimental environmental conditions. The only exceptions are explants in organ culture in vitro and perichondrial regenerates. In these conditions the development of elastic fibers is slow and poor while the production of the proteoglycan matrix is abundant. The resulting cartilage then displays structural characteristics of hyaline cartilage rather than those of the initial elastic one. 相似文献
