We have localized horseradish peroxidase (HRP) in the mouse uterus after intravenous administration on days 1 and 5 of pregnancy in an effort to understand how serum proteins reach the uterine lumen. Direct movement of HRP into uterine and glandular lumina was blocked by the epithelial tight junctions on both days. In luminal and glandular epithelial cells at both times, HRP was localized in endocytic vesicles along the basolateral membranes, multivesicular bodies (mvb), elongated dense bodies below the nucleus (bdb), and many small vesicles near the apical surface of the cells. The uptake of HRP was most extensive in the luminal epithelium on day 1: the number of tracer-containing apical vesicles and bdb was largest, and there were also clusters of vesicles containing the tracer above the nucleus. Acid phosphatase was localized on day 1 in mvb and bdb in both cell types, indicating that these structures are lysosomes. It appeared that HRP followed two pathways after basolateral endocytosis by the epithelial cells: it was transported to the apical region of the cells, where it was present in small vesicles that may release their contents into the uterine or glandular lumina, or it was transported to lysosomes. To investigate whether macromolecules may be transported from the uterine lumen to the stroma, we also studied endocytosis at the apical pole of luminal epithelial cells after intraluminal injection of HRP. There was no detectable uptake of HRP from the lumen on day 1, and no tracer was detected in the intercellular spaces or basement membrane region. On day 5, a large amount of HRP was taken up from the lumen into apical endocytic vesicles, mvb, and dense bodies, but tracer was not present in the Golgi apparatus, lateral intercellular spaces, or the basement membrane region at the times studied. These observations indicate that there was no transport of luminal macromolecules to the uterine stroma on day 1, while the possibility of transport on day 5 requires further study.  相似文献

We present here evidence of in vivo epithelial endocytosis and trafficking of non-lipid-modified Sonic hedgehog (ShhN) when infused into rat efferent ducts via microinjection. Initially, exogenous ShhN is detected in endocytic vesicles and early endosomes located near the apical plasma membrane of non-ciliated cells. Within 30-60 min following infusion, ShhN can be detected in lysosomes and at basolateral regions of non-ciliated cells. Basolaterally, ShhN was observed along the extracellular surfaces of interdigitated plasma membranes of adjacent cells and in the extracellular compartment underlying the efferent duct epithelium. Uptake and subcellular trafficking of infused ShhN by non-ciliated cells could be blocked by either anti-megalin IgG or the megalin antagonist, RAP. Ciliated cells, which do not express megalin, displayed little if any apical internalization of ShhN even though they were found to express Patched-1. However, ShhN was found in coated pits of lateral plasma membranes of ciliated cells as well as in underlying endocytic vesicles. We conclude that megalin-mediated endocytosis of ShhN can occur in megalin-expressing epithelia in vivo, and that the internalized ShhN can be targeted to the lysosome or transcytosed in the plane of the epithelium or across the epithelium. These findings highlight the multiple mechanisms by which megalin may influence Shh morphogen gradients in vivo.  相似文献

We have studied the transport of ferritin that was internalized by coated micropinocytic vesicles at the apical surface of the choroid plexus epithelium in situ. After ventriculocisternal perfusion of native ferritin (NF) or cationized ferritin (CF), three routes followed by the tracers are revealed: (a) to lysosomes, (b) to cisternal compartments, and (c) to the basolateral cell surface. (a) NF is micropinocytosed to a very limited degree and appears in a few lysosomal elements whereas CF is taken up in large amounts and can be followed, via endocytic vacuoles and light multivesicular bodies, to dark multivesicular bodies and dense bodies. (b) Occasionally, CF particles are found in cisterns that may represent GERL or trans-Golgi elements, whereas stacked Golgi cisterns never contain CF. (c) Transepithelial vesicular transport of CF is distinctly revealed. The intercellular spaces of the epithelium, below the apical tight junctions, contain numerous clusters of CF particles, often associated with surface-connected, coated vesicles. Vesicles in the process of exocytosis of CF are also present at the basal epithelial surface, whereas connective tissue elements below the epithelium are unlabeled. Our conclusion is that fluid and solutes removed from the cerebrospinal fluid by endocytosis either become sequestered in the lysosomal apparatus of the choroidal epithelium or are transported to the basolateral surface. However, our results do not indicate any significant recycling via Golgi complexes of internalized apical cell membrane.  相似文献

We studied the pathway of serum protein transport into the lumen of the mouse oviduct by localizing several tracer proteins in the oviduct after intravenous injection on days 1, 5, and 11 of pregnancy. Fluorescent proteins were observed in the lamina propria and in vesicles in the lumenal epithelial cells mainly in the preampulla segment on days 5 and 11 of pregnancy. In the isthmus, there was much less fluorescence in the lamina propria and no fluorescent vesicles in lumenal epithelial cells. This is similar to previous observations on day 1 and indicates that the uptake of serum proteins into lumenal epithelial cells in the preampulla is not limited to the time when embryos are present in the oviductal lumen. Horseradish peroxidase (HRP) was present in the lamina propria of the preampulla on days 1 and 5, but direct tracer movement into the oviductal lumen was blocked by the epithelial junctional complexes. Within the epithelial cells, HRP was localized in endocytic vesicles along the basolateral membrane, multivesicular bodies (mvb), elongated dense bodies below the nucleus (bdb), and many small vesicles near the apical surface of the cells. Ferritin was also used as a tracer and was observed in the same locations as HRP. Acid phosphatase in the epithelial cells of the preampulla on day 1 was localized in mvb and bdb, indicating that these structures are lysosomes. Summary Distribution of acid phosphatase was studied in the dental cyst epithelium. Enzyme activity was found to be localized in primary and secondary lysosomes and vacuoles of the Golgi complex. Longer incubation revealed positive reaction in the Golgi complex vesicles and cisternae, in the endoplasmic reticulum, and perinuclear' space. Acid phosphatase reaction was bound also to membranous structures occurring in the intercellular spaces. These structures originated probably from disintegrated cells. Localization of acid phosphatase reaction in the dental cyst epithelium was found to be essentially the same as in the oral cavity epithelium. Smaller differences between both types of epithelium may be conditioned by different type and arrangement of the organelles in the corresponding epithelial layers.  相似文献

At term, uterine epithelial cells express oxytocin (OT) as well as the OT receptor (OTR). Like other epithelial cells, uterine epithelial cells are polarized and sort secretory and membrane components to the apical or the basolateral cell surface. We have studied the subcellular localization of OT-like immunoreactivity (OT-IR) and OTR-IR in rat uterine epithelium by immuno-gold labelling of ultrathin frozen sections. Our observations indicate that OT and OTR are both distributed preferentially to the apical surface of rat uterine epithelial cells. OT-IR showed a 6-fold apical versus basolateral preference and was localized in apical secretory vesicles, suggesting that uterine OT is released by apical exocytosis. OTR-IR was localized to the apical surface with a 9-fold apical versus basolateral preference and was found specifically in association with apical microvilli. The present findings represent the first example of a G protein-coupled receptor that is preferentially localized on the microvillar compartment and support the concept of an autocrine uterine OT system at the apical side of the uterine epithelium.  相似文献

Affinity-purified antibodies to cellCAM-105, an adhesive cell surface glycoprotein, were used in immunohistochemical investigations of rat uteri at various functional stages: (i) the oestrous, pro-oestrous, metoestrous, and dioestrous stages of the oestrous cycle, (ii) Days 1-8 of normal pregnancy, (iii) delayed implantation, (iv) 18 h after oestrogen reactivation from delay of implantation, and (v) juvenile rats, and normal ovariectomized adults, respectively, before and after experimental injection of progesterone and/or oestrogen. CellCAM-105 was present in the apical zones of the luminal and glandular epithelium cells in a stage-specific and hormone-dependent manner. The results indicate that: (1) steroid hormones are essential for the expression of cellCAM-105 in the uterine epithelial cells; (2) progesterone induces cellCAM-105 expression in the glandular epithelium, and oestrogen induces cellCAM-105 expression in the luminal epithelium; (3) progesterone induces down-regulation of cellCAM-105 from the surface of the uterine luminal epithelium of juvenile rats; (4) cellCAM-105 is absent in the luminal epithelial cells but present in the glandular epithelial cells of the rat uterus at the time of blastocyst implantation.  相似文献

Electron microscopic approaches have been used to study the endocytic pathways from the apical and basolateral surface domains of the polarized epithelial cell, MDCK strain I, grown on polycarbonate filters. The cells were incubated at 37 degrees C in the presence of two distinguishable markers administered separately to the apical or the basolateral domain. Initially each marker was visualized within distinct apical or basolateral peripheral endosomes. However, after 15 min at 37 degrees C, both markers were observed within common perinuclear structures. The compartment in which meeting first occurred was shown to be a late endosome (prelysosome) that labeled extensively with antibodies against the cation-independent mannose-6-phosphate receptor (MPR) on cryosections. With increasing incubation times, markers passed from these MPR-positive structures into a common set of MPR-negative lysosomes that were mainly located in the apical half of the cell. A detailed quantitative analysis of the endocytic pathways was carried out using stereological techniques in conjunction with horseradish peroxidase and acid phosphatase cytochemistry. This enabled us to estimate the absolute volumes and membrane surface areas of the endocytic organelles involved in apical and basolateral endocytosis.  相似文献

The functional morphology of the Golgi apparatus was studied in various types of cells in the rat endometrium during the oestrous cycle. A cerium-based enzyme-cytochemical method was used for the ultrastructural visualization of the activity of thiamine pyrophosphatase (TPPase). The cerium-based method was evidently superior to the classical lead technique, which was used for comparison. TPPase activity in luminal and glandular epithelial cells displayed cyclical modulation and redistribution. It was restricted to only one or two narrow trans lamellae during dioestrus but extended during proestrus and oestrus into nearly all trans-to-cis lamellae of the well-compartmentated Golgi apparatus. A homogeneous staining reaction, which was particularly intense during the latter two phases and only partly due to unspecific alkaline phosphatase, was confined to the apical and basolateral plasma membranes of luminal epithelial cells. In the stromal fibroblasts, only one short Golgi saccule was positive at dioestrus, whereas three or more trans Golgi lamellae were filled with reaction product during oestradiol-dominated oestrus. TPPase activity was furthermore observed in the lysosomes in epithelial cells, stromal fibroblasts, capillary endothelial cells and pericytes. The present findings of cyclic changes in TPPase activity in epithelial cells and stromal fibroblasts provide the first evidence of cyclic modulation and redistribution of this enzyme in the endometrium.  相似文献

Summary The fine structure of the surface epithelium over preovulatory rabbit follicles was examined parallel with visualization of acid phosphatase at the electron microscopical level. Small enzyme positive vesicles were pinched off from the Golgi cisternae and similar vesicles fused and got incorporated into larger lysosomes of dense body type. Some lysosomes appeared in direct continuity with tubular enzyme positive structures. Other possible ways of increase of the lysosomal pool are indicated and discussed.As in previous studies a maximal accumulation of lysosomes was found in the apical epithelium at 8 h after an ovulatory dose of human chorionic gonadotrophin (HCG); thereafter a gradual loss of lysosomes ensued. Before the lysosomes disappeared from the surface epithelium they changed in character. They became more electron-lucent and revealed a fine-fibrillar matrix. Dense bodies deep in the cell interior appeared to communicate with each other and with the extracellular space below the surface epithelium. Openings were never seen towards the peritoneal cavity. The loss of lysosomal content from the apical surface epithelium before follicle rupture appeared in many respects similar to the histamine release process in mast cells.The findings support our working hypothesis that the surface epithelium over Graafian follicles is an essential source of proteolytic enzymes and that these may be released extracellularly and actively contribute to the dissolution of the follicular apex before rupture.This investigation was supported by grants from the Swedish Medical Research Council (Projects No. B74-12X-78-09C and B75-12X-78-10A). Internalization of cationized ferritin by isolated pancreatic acinar cells   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
The internalization of cationized ferritin (CF) was studied in isolated pancreatic acinar cells in vitro. Horseradish peroxidase (HRP) was used in conjunction with CF to compare internalization of soluble-phase and membrane-bound tracers. The mode of internalization of CF was dependent upon tracer concentration and origin of the plasma membrane (apical vs. lateral-basal). At the lower tracer concentrations (0.19 and 0.38 mg/ml), internalization from the apical cell surface occurred via small vesicles. The tracer then appeared in multivesicular bodies, in tubules, and in irregular membrane-bound structures. After 15 min, CF particles were seen in many small vesicles near the Golgi apparatus, but not in the Golgi saccules. In contrast, at the lateral-basal cell surface the CF particles tended to form clusters. These clusters were more pronounced at higher CF concentrations (0.76 and 1.5 mg/ml) and were associated with elongated cellular processes, which seemed to engulf CF accumulations in a phagocytic manner. Once internalized, CF was found primarily in large irregular structures which appeared to migrate slowly toward the nucleus, reaching a juxtanuclear position after approximately 30 min. CF was observed in lysosomes after 30-45 min and by 90 min most of the CF was confined to large vacuoles and to trimetaphosphatase-positive lysosomes. Similar routes were observed when cells were double-labeled with CF and HRP, where endocytic structures showed co-localization of both tracers. The results of this study indicate the importance of the Golgi region in the intracellular sorting of internalized apical membrane. Furthermore, this work confirms the presence of distinct endocytic pathways at the apical and lateral-basal cell surfaces.  相似文献

Although recent data from our laboratory have established the occurrence of receptor-mediated endocytosis in intrahepatic bile duct epithelial cells (IBDEC) isolated from normal rat liver, no studies have assessed the role of isolated IBDEC in fluid-phase endocytosis. Therefore, to determine if IBDEC participate in fluid-phase endocytosis, we incubated morphologically polar doublets of IBDEC isolated from normal rat liver with horseradish peroxidase (HRP, 5 mg/ml), a protein internalized by fluid-phase endocytosis, and determined its intracellular distribution by electron microscopic cytochemistry. Pulse-chase studies using quantitative morphometry were also performed to assess the fate of HRP after internalization. After incubation at 37 degrees C, IBDEC internalized HRP exclusively at the apical (i.e., luminal) domain of their plasma membrane; internalization was completely blocked at 4 degrees C. After internalization, HRP was seen in acid phosphatase-negative vesicles and in acid phosphatase-positive multivesicular bodies (i.e., secondary lysosomes). Small acid phosphatase-negative vesicles containing HRP moved progressively from the apical to the basal domain of IBDEC. Pulse-chase studies showed that HRP was then discharged by exocytosis at the basolateral cell surface. These results demonstrate that IBDEC prepared from normal rat liver participate in fluid-phase endocytosis. After internalization, HRP either is routed to secondary lysosomes or undergoes exocytosis after transcytosis from the luminal to the basolateral cell surface. Our results suggest that IBDEC modify the composition of bile by internalizing both biliary proteins and fluid via endocytic mechanisms.  相似文献

Immunoglobulins in the mouse uterus during the oestrous cycle   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The distribution of IgA, IgG and IgM was studied by an immunoperoxidase technique on sections of mouse uteri at each stage of the oestrous cycle. Staining for IgG and IgA was highest at pro-oestrus, declined at oestrus and was very low during the other stages. At pro-oestrus IgG was found throughout the stroma, in the uterine lumen, and in 10% of glandular lumina; very few IgG-containing plasma cells were present. At pro-oestrus, IgA was found in the uterine lumen, and in most of the uterine glands, both in the lumen and in the epithelium; little IgA was present in the stroma. IgA-plasma cells were detected at each stage of the cycle and were particularly numerous at pro-oestrus and oestrus. These results suggest that IgA is secreted locally from plasma cells into the uterine gland through the glandular epithelium, but that IgG enters the stroma from the local capillaries. The obvious increase in IgG and IgA secretion at pro-oestrus, when plasma oestradiol levels are highest, supports the hypothesis that, during the oestrous cycle, the humoral immune response is regulated in the uterus by ovarian hormones.  相似文献

The study was designed to determine the distribution of prostaglandin H-synthase (PGS) also known as cyclooxygenase in specific uterine cell populations during the oestrous cycle. Endometrial biopsy samples were obtained from a total of 10 clinically healthy cows at days 1 (initiation of behavioural oestrus), 8, 15, and 19 of the oestrous cycle. All animals conceived after biopsy regimen. Data of semiquantitatively scored immunoreactivities were analysed using analyses of variance, t-tests for paired data and correlation analyses. Biotin-streptavidin-peroxidase immunostaining technique was employed to localise PGS. Specific staining was consistently present in endothelial cells of arteries but not capillaries and venules. A gradient of staining intensity was clearly apparent within the endometrium: surface epithelial cells and stromal cells located near the endometrial surface are consistently stained more intensely than glandular epithelial cells and stromal cells lying deeper in the endometrium. Days of oestrous cycle also influenced PGS immunoreactivities. Generally, higher immunoreactivities were recorded in surface epithelium, uterine glands and endometrial stromal cells at cycle days 1 and 19 as compared to cycle days 8 and 15. Minimal scoring values were mainly found at cycle day 8. The results of the present study suggest that the amount of bovine endometrial PGS varies considerably with the day of cycle in the above mentioned cell-type- and location-restricted manner. Therefore, the capacity of the bovine uterine mucosa for prostaglandin production may—amongst other factors—depend on the cycle-restricted availability of the respective enzyme systems.  相似文献

Lysosomal acid phosphatase was studied at both the light and electron microscope level in the rat uterine luminal and glandular epithelium, at oestrous, late dioestrous and day 6 of pregnancy. At the light-microscopic level lysosomal numbers were quantified and statistically analysed. A morphological study was also carried out on the lysosomes at the electron-microscopic level in the above-mentioned stages. Quantification of lysosomal numbers found day 6 of pregnancy to have a significantly higher lysosomal population in the luminal and glandular epithelium compared to non-pregnant states. At the electron-microscopic level the luminal epithelial lysosomes were frequently observed in an invaginated or vesiculated form whereas these characteristics were rarely observed during late dioestrous and were non-existent during oestrous. Generally, the lysosomes appeared more active in the luminal epithelium at day 6 of pregnancy compared to the non-pregnant state. The findings are discussed in reference to the role of the lysosome at the time of blastocyst implantation.  相似文献

Summary Constitutive endothelial nitric oxide synthase (NOS III) expression during the oestrous cycle was mapped immunocytochemically on 5 μm-thick paraffin sections of rat female reproductive organs. Ovarian NOS III immunoreactivity increased with follicular maturation (strongest in dioestrus corpora lutea), suggesting that nitric oxide may regulate folliculogenesis and luteal functions. Oviductal NOS III, localized in mucosal epithelium and muscular wall, was maximal during pro-oestrus and oestrus, suggesting that nitric oxide may impart periovulatory quiescence for reception, retention and fertilization of ovulated oocytes. Uterine NOS III, localized in endometrial and glandular epithelium, and in myometrial smooth muscle cells, was abundantly expressed during pro-oestrus and oestrus. The peri-implantation period in pregnant rats corresponds to the periovulatory period and the elevated NOS, and thus nitric oxide may provide uterine relaxation to facilitate embryo implantation following fertilization. Cervical NOS III, localized in the mucus-secreting epithelium and smooth muscle cells, exhibited enzyme abundance during pro-oestrus and oestrus, probably indicating cervical preparation to facilitate sperm entry following mating. Vaginal NOS III, found in the stratified squamous epithelial lining and in smooth muscle cells, was maximal during oestrus and pro-oestrus, suggesting that nitric oxide may stimulate vaginal secretions. Differential expression of NOS III by different reproductive organs during the oestrus cycle suggests a role for nitric oxide in modulating reproduction.  相似文献

The ultrastructure of oviduct epithelium of clinically healthy cows and 15 sows was investigated using scanning and transmission electron microscopy. In all parts of the oviduct, ciliated and non-ciliated epithelial cells are present, but their number varies in both the investigated animals in different regions of the oviduct, depending on the phase of the estrous cycle. In addition to ciliated cells with numerous cilia on their luminal surface, so-called pale ciliary cells were found in all parts of the oviduct of cows and sows. The cytoplasm of these cells is electron-lucent, their luminal surface carries few cilia and short microvilli. The apical cytoplasm contains species specific secretory granules, which means that these cells have features characteristic of both secretory and ciliated cells. It is suggested that the pale ciliated and non-ciliated secretory cells are functional stages of the same tubar epithelium cell, and that the transformation between these two cell types is regulated by functional requirements of the organ in different phases of the estrous cycle.  相似文献

We have developed a chemically defined monolayer culture system for guinea pig seminal vesicle epithelial cells (SVEP). The cells appeared as a polarized monolayer with apical microvilli, tight junctions and desmosome-like junctions, and often dilated intercellular spaces. SVEP expressed epithelial-specific cytokeratins as detected immunocytochemically. Growth was obtained during the first week of culture. In this period, the cells were exposed to unconjugated horseradish peroxidase (HRP), a ricin-peroxidase conjugate (Ri-HRP), or cationized ferritin (CF). HRP was endocytosed without binding to the SVEP surface (fluid-phase endocytosis) and was found mainly in multivesicular endosomes and lysosomes. Ri-HRP and CF, however, were endocytosed following binding to the cell surface. Initially these markers were present in multivesicular endosomes, but later also in smaller tubular and vesicular endosomes, some Golgi-associated elements (but not Golgi stacks), and lysosomes. We conclude that our SVEP culture system may be useful in further studies, on e.g. hormonal regulation of endocytosis and other processes of importance for SVEP maintenance and modulation of the seminal fluid in vivo.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to investigate the distribution of leukocytes and the morphological changes of the sow endometrium throughout the oestrous cycle. Fifteen crossbred multiparous sows (Swedish Landrace x Swedish Yorkshire), with an average parity number of 3.4 +/- 0.7 (mean +/- S.D.) were used. Blood samples were collected from the jugular vein 1h before slaughter for analyses of oestradiol-17beta and progesterone levels. Uterine samples from the mesometrial side of both horns, taken immediately after slaughter at late dioestrus, prooestrus, oestrus, early dioestrus and dioestrus, were fixed, embedded in plastic resin and stained with toluidine blue. The surface and glandular epithelium as well as subepithelial and glandular connective tissue layers were examined by light microscopy.The significantly highest surface and the glandular epithelium were observed at oestrus and dioestrus, respectively.The largest number of capillaries (underneath the surface epithelium) was found at oestrus. In the surface epithelium, the largest number of intraepithelial lymphocytes (IELs, round nucleus) was found at early dioestrus. The largest number of lymphocytes and macrophages within the glandular epithelium were found at early dioestrus and oestrus, respectively.In the subepithelial connective tissue layer, the most common type of leukocytes during all stages was the lymphocyte. The largest numbers of lymphocytes and neutrophils were found at oestrus while the largest number of eosinophils was found at dioestrus.The dominating cells of the immune system in the connective tissue of the glandular layer were lymphocytes and macrophages. The significantly largest numbers of lymphocytes and plasma cells were found at early dioestrus and dioestrus, respectively.The number of lymphocytes in the connective tissue of the glandular layer and the number of plasma cells in the subepithelial layer were positively correlated with the plasma level of progesterone (P < or = 0.05). The numbers of capillaries and neutrophils in the subepithelial layer underneath the surface epithelium as well as the number of macrophages in both surface and glandular epithelium were positively correlated with the plasma level of oestradiol-17beta (P < or = 0.05).In conclusion, the present study showed a variation in the infiltration and distribution of lymphocytes, neutrophils, eosinophils, macrophages, mast cells and plasma cells in the sow endometrium during different stages of the oestrous cycle. Also morphological parameters (e.g. height of surface and glandular epithelium, capillaries density and degree of oedema) varied throughout the oestrous cycle.  相似文献

Blood samples were collected from the jugular vein 1 h before slaughter for analyses of oestradiol-17beta and progesterone levels. Uterine samples from the mesometrial side of both horns, taken immediately after slaughter at late dioestrus, prooestrus, oestrus, early dioestrus and dioestrus, were fixed, embedded in plastic resin and stained with toluidine blue. The surface and glandular epithelium as well as subepithelial and glandular connective tissue layers were examined by light microscopy (LM). The significantly highest surface and the glandular epithelium were observed at oestrus and dioestrus, respectively. The largest number of capillaries (underneath the surface epithelium) was found at oestrus. In the surface epithelium, the largest number of intraepithelial lymphocytes (IELs, round nucleus) was found at early dioestrus. The largest number of lymphocytes and macrophages within the glandular epithelium were found at early dioestrus and oestrus, respectively. In the subepithelial connective tissue layer, the most common type of leukocytes during all stages was the lymphocyte. The largest numbers of lymphocytes and neutrophils were found at oestrus while the largest number of eosinophils was found at dioestrus. The dominating cells of the immune system in the connective tissue of the glandular layer were lymphocytes and macrophages. The significantly largest numbers of lymphocytes and plasma cells were found at early dioestrus and dioestrus, respectively. The number of lymphocytes in the connective tissue of the glandular layer and the number of plasma cells in the subepithelial layer were positively correlated with the plasma level of progesterone (P < or = 0.05). The numbers of capillaries and neutrophils in the subepithelial layer underneath the surface epithelium as well as the number of macrophages in both surface and glandular epithelium were positively correlated with the plasma level of oestradiol-17beta (P < or = 0.05). In conclusion, the present study showed a variation om the infiltration and distrobution of lymphocytes, neutrophils, eosinophils, macrophages, mast cells, and plasma cells in the sow endometrium during different stages of the oestrous cycle. Also morphological parameters (e.g. height of surface and glandular epithelium, capillaries density and degree of oedema) varied throughout the oestrous cycle.  相似文献
