The effect of protein calorie malnutrition (PCM) on synthesis of lipids in peripheral nerves was studied by in vitro incorporation of (U-C14)-glucose and (1-C14)-sodium acetate. Ulnar and tibial nerves obtained from five young rhesus monkeys with PCM, five rehabilitated monkeys, and five control monkeys were incubated for 2 h with the radioactive precursors. Uptake of both radioactive precursors in whole peripheral nerves as well as myelin marker lipids was significantly decreased in animals with PCM. However, uptake returned to normal in rehabilitated monkeys.  相似文献

In white male Wistar rats aged 2, 4, 6, 9, 12, 18 and 32 months, receiving a standard laboratory diet (25 cal% proteins, 22 cal% fat and 53 cal% glycides) we assessed the total amount of fatty acids in the carcass and in vitro lipogenesis in liver and adipose tissue by the means of glucose-14C(U). The amount of body fat increased with age; the highest rate of increase in the percentage of body fat occurs 2 to 4 months after birth. Incorporation of 14C of glucose into total liver lipids attains maximum values in the group of rats age 2 to 4 months. By the age of 6 months lipogenesis decreased to a level observed in all the remaining age groups. In adipose tissue, the incorporation of 14C into total lipids decreased between the age of 2 to 4 months, a further decrease was observed around the age of 6 months. No appreciable changes were noted in any of the older age groups.  相似文献

1. Rats were injected with [U-14C]glucose and the content of 14C in proteins and lipids of the cerebral P1 (`nuclear'), P2 (`mitochondrial'), P3 (`microsomal') and high-speed supernatant fractions was measured 7, 22 and 93hr. after injection of labelled glucose. 2. The crude brain mitochondrial fractions (P2) were subfractionated on continuous sucrose gradients (0·32–1·8m-sucrose) and the 14C content of the proteins and lipids of about 20 subfractions was measured. 3. About 40–50% of the 14C assimilated by brain proteins was found in the P2 (`mitochondrial') fraction. About 68–70% of the 14C assimilated by brain lipids was also recovered from the lipids of the P2 fraction. 4. Between 22 and 93hr. after injection of [U-14C]glucose both the amount of 14C in the protein of the P2 (`mitochondrial') fraction and the specific activity of this protein increased. The specific activity of the protein of all other particulate fractions (P1, P2 and P3) and subfractions (obtained from sucrose-density-gradient subfractionation of fraction P2) when related to the specific activity of the high-speed supernatant protein also increased during 93hr. after injection of [U-14C]glucose. The amount of 14C in the protein of the high-speed supernatant and the specific activity of this protein decreased during the same period. 5. The distribution of 14C in the lipids of all subcellular particulate fractions remained unchanged during the period 22–93hr. after injection of [U-14C]glucose. 6. It was concluded that a diffusion occurs of some supernatant proteins into subcellular particulate matter of the cerebrum and no significant preference for any subcellular particulate matter was observed. The lipids occur in the cerebrum mainly in a non-diffusible state, which is consistent with the view that they form almost entirely a part of the structure of the cerebrum. 7. The data obtained do not lend further support to the concept of axoplasmic flow within the cerebrum or the concept of a one-directional flow of mitochondria or other subcellular particles within the cerebrum.  相似文献

This study assessed the impact of Westernised and traditional African diets on mineral metabolism in general and calcium status in particular in vervet monkeys. Twelve adult male vervet monkeys (Cercopithecus aethiops), with an average weight of 5+/-0.58 kg each, were divided into two groups of six individuals each and fed traditional diets containing largely maize + legumes (17.4%) or Westernised diets containing milk solids (17.2%) as the source of high crude protein for 8 weeks. Blood was taken at 2-week intervals, the animals were weighed, while urine and stool samples were collected over 24 hours. The monkeys on the milk solids diet had diarrhoea for 6 weeks post-dietary intervention, and produced significantly greater quantities (P<0.02) of stool. These animals also produced significantly more urine (P<0.02). There was no difference in the degree of calciuresis of the two groups, but the monkeys on maize + legume proteins absorbed significantly more calcium during weeks two and six (P<0.04). Furthermore, both groups of monkeys showed a significant decline in plasma calcium levels over the experimental period (P<0.001). The diets had no effect on phosphate levels in the plasma or urine. However, both groups of animals absorbed less phosphate (P<0.09). There was an increasing loss of urinary magnesium (P = 0.03) in both groups, with the milk solids group showing lower plasma levels of this element (P = 0.09). However, the milk solids group lost less magnesium through the stool (P<0.03). In addition, the animals on milk solids showed significant natriuresis (P<0.05), while plasma sodium levels in both groups declined over time (P<0.03). Both diets induced a state of urinary potassium loss (P = 0.0003) and decrease in plasma potassium (P<0.0002). Urinary pH and plasma urea were unaffected by the diets, but the monkeys on maize + legumes excreted significantly less (P<0.001) urinary urea. This study indicates that the milk solids diet compromised mineral homeostasis by interfering with gut and renal functioning, while the traditional African diet did not induce these effects.  相似文献

The effects of phenylpyruvate and hyperphenylalaninemia on the incorporation of [6-3H]glucose into lipids, proteins and nucleic acids were examined in differentiating and adult rat brain. Foetal brain was most sensitive to inhibition by phenylpyruvate in vitro, with significant effects occurring at 2·5 mM for labelling of lipids and proteins and at 5 mM for labelling RNA and DNA. Older age groups were less affected, and cortical slices from adult brain were slightly or not at all affected by phenylpyruvate. The inhibition by phenylpyruvate of incorporation of [6-3H]glucose into nucleic acids, proteins, and lipids could be further distinguished by the reversibility of the effect on nucleic acid and protein synthesis at high levels of glucose and the irreversibility of the effect on lipid synthesis. Lipid synthesis was most sensitive to inhibition by phenylpyruvate at the stage of fatty acid synthesis, with lesser effect on the formation of glyceride glycerol. Exposure in utero of the foetal brain to maternal hyperphenylalaninemia resulted in reduction of 26–38 per cent in the subsequent incorporation in vitro of [6-3H]glucose into lipids, proteins, RNA and DNA of brain slices from foetal animals. Feeding hyperphenylalaninemic pregnant rats a high-glucose diet significantly protected the foetal brain from the neurotoxicity accompanying the hyperphenylalanemia.  相似文献

The incorporation of [1-14C]linoleic and [1-14C]stearic acid and of their delta 6 and delta 9 desaturation products (gamma-linolenic and oleic acids, respectively) into different classes of lipids was studied in liver microsomes of rats in function of the diet (blackcurrant seed oil diet, containing gamma-linolenic acid, versus control diet) and in function of age (3, 6 and 9 months). After delta 6 desaturation, total radioactivity was distributed between phospholipids, especially phosphatidylcholine, and neutral lipids. The desaturation product, gamma-linolenic acid, was totally recovered in the phospholipid fraction. Blackcurrant seed oil, which decreased the rate of delta 6 desaturation in 6- and 9-month-old rats, also decreased the incorporation of radioactivity in total phospholipids, especially in phosphatidylcholine. At 6 months of age, after delta 9 desaturation, the majority of radioactivity was recovered in neutral lipids principally as oleic acid, the desaturation product. The precursor, stearic acid, was highly incorporated into phospholipids, especially in rats on a diet of blackcurrant seed oil.  相似文献

The substitution of trans- for half of the cis-monounsaturated fatty acids in the diet of Macaca fasicularis monkeys resulted in alterations in erythrocyte fatty acid composition and insulin receptor properties but not in membrane fluidity. Both cis and trans diets contained 10% fat and similar fatty acid compositions, except that approximately 50% of the cis-octadecenoate (c-18:1) in the cis diet was replaced with trans-octadecenoate isomers (t-18:1) in the trans diet. Compared with the cis diet, the trans diet resulted in the incorporation of approximately 11% t-18:1, an approximately 50% decrease in c-18:1, an approximately 16% decrease in total saturated fatty acids, and an approximately 20% increase in 18:2(n-6) in erythrocyte membrane lipids. The increase in 18:2(n-6) may reflect on homeostatic mechanisms designed to maintain overall membrane fluidity, as no diet-related changes in fluidity were observed with diphenylhexatriene steady state fluorescence polarization. Values observed for insulin binding and insulin receptor number were higher and binding affinity was lower in monkeys fed the cis diet. In the absence of an effect on overall membrane fluidity, altered receptor activity suggests that insulin receptor activity is dynamic, requiring specific fluid membrane subdomains or highly specific fatty acid-protein interactions.  相似文献

Rats of either sex were fed for 18 and 34 weeks respectively diets containing 40% (by weight) lipids with polyunsaturated fatty acids representing 1.34% or 13.2% of total calories. Platelet reactivity to thrombin, platelet fatty acid composition and incorporation of [14C]acetate into platelet lipids were investigated. Diets rich in saturated fatty acids markedly increased platelet sensitivity to thrombin. The concentration of 20:3 and 22:3 of the (n - 9) series and of 20:3 and 22:5 of the (n - 6) series were increased at the expense of 18:2 and 22:4 of the (n - 6) family in platelet lipids. 20:4 (n - 6) was unchanged. The fatty acid changes were more pronounced in male rats and after 34 weeks. [14C]Acetate incorporation into total platelet lipids and particularly into choline phosphoglycerides and ceramides was lower in animals fed saturated fats. This diet reduced the synthesis of 16:0 and of 22:4(n - 6) in platelet total fatty acids, while that of 22:3(n - 9) was markedly enhanced. This study showed that long-term feeding of high-saturated-low-polyunsaturated fat diets in rats induced marked changes in platelet lipid synthesis and composition, in both sexes. The lipid synthesis modification appears to be more pronounced in males than in females. The changes in the fatty acids 20:3(n - 9), 22:3(n - 9) and 22:4(n - 6) appeared to be closely related to platelet behaviour. The balance between the content and synthesis of these last fatty acids might be of significance for the effect of diet on thrombogenesis.  相似文献

—Eight male monkeys (Macaca nemestrina) aged 6–9 months were divided into two groups and fed either an adequate protein diet (20% casein) or a protein deficient diet (2% casein). After 3- 5 months of receiving the low protein diet, the malnourished monkeys showed extensive fatty metamorphosis of the liver cells, distorted patterns of plasma and hepatic free amino acid pools, and other features consistent with the diagnosis of protein-calorie malnutrition. Examination of the cerebrum, cerebellum and brain stem in the malnourished animals revealed profound accumulation of 3-methylhistidine, histidine and homocarnosine in all three regions. For histidine, the cerebral, cerebellar and brain stem levels in the protein deficient animals increased by 145, 104 and 101 per cent over levels observed in corresponding regions of the brain in well-fed monkeys. Similarly, there were significant elevations in homocarnosine contents of the cerebrum (+ 99 per cent), cerebellum (+ 140 per cent) and brain stem (+ 146 per cent) in comparison to levels in control animals. In contrast, the levels of valine, serine and aspartic acid were markedly reduced in all three brain areas in the malnourished animals. Protein-calorie deficiency also produced reductions in the brain levels of taurine, glutamic acid, isoleucine, leucine and threonine which varied in magnitude in the three major regions of the brain examined. These biochemical alterations which may in part underlie some of the psychomotor changes often observed in protein-calorie malnutrition, were discussed not only in relation to the role of amino acids as precursors for the synthesis of neuroregulatory substances but also with due regard to the possibility that some of these ninhydrin-positive substances such as GABA, homocarnosine, glycine and the dicarboxylic amino acids may possess neuroexcitatory or inhibitory properties in various parts of the central nervous system.  相似文献

1. Lipogenesis was studied in mice re-fed for up to 21 days after starvation. At appropriate times [U-(14)]glucose was given by stomach tube and incorporation of (14)C into various lipid fractions measured. 2. In mice starved for 48hr. and then re-fed for 4 days with a diet containing 1% of corn oil, incorporation of (14)C from [U-(14)C]glucose into liver fatty acids and cholesterol was respectively threefold and eightfold higher than in controls fed ad libitum. The percentages by weight of fatty acids and cholesterol in the liver also increased and reached peaks after 7 days. Both the radioactivity and weights of the fractions returned to control values after 10-14 days' re-feeding. These changes could be diminished by re-feeding the mice with a diet containing 20% of corn oil. Incorporation of (14)C from [U-(14)C]glucose into extrahepatic fatty acids (excluding those of the epididymal fat pads) was not elevated during re-feeding with a diet containing either 1% or 20% of corn oil. However, incorporation of (14)C from [U-(14)C]glucose into the fatty acids of the epididymal fat pads was increased in mice re-fed with either diet, as compared with non-starved controls. 3. Lipogenesis was also studied in mice alternately fed and starved. Mice given a diet containing 1% of corn oil for 6hr./day for 4 weeks lost weight initially and never attained the weight or carcass fat content of controls fed ad libitum. Incorporation of (14)C from dietary [U-(14)C]-glucose into the fatty acids of the epididymal fat pads was elevated threefold in the mice allowed limited access to food, although the incorporation into the remainder of the extrahepatic fatty acids was not different from that found for controls. Mice given a diet containing 20% of corn oil for 6hr./day adapted to the limited feeding regimen quicker and in 4 weeks did attain the weight and carcass fat content of controls. Incorporation of (14)C from [U-(14)C]glucose into the fatty acids of the epididymal fat pads and the remainder of the extrahepatic fatty acids was respectively fivefold and threefold higher than in controls fed ad libitum. 4. The elevation in liver lipogenesis during re-feeding was greatest on a diet containing 1% of corn oil, whereas in extrahepatic tissues the increase in lipogenesis was greater when the mice were re-fed or were allowed limited access to a diet containing 20% of corn oil. These results suggest that the causes of the increased rate of incorporation of (14)C from [U-(14)C]glucose into fatty acids during re-feeding may be different in liver from that in extrahepatic tissues.  相似文献

1. Respiring slices of adult rat cerebrum have been shown to incorporate long-chain (14)C-labelled fatty acids into phospholipid. 2. Labelling was almost entirely confined to lecithin and ethanolamine phospholipid, only traces being present in serine phospholipid. 3. Palmitic acid, oleic acid and linoleic acid were incorporated more actively into lecithin than into ethanolamine phospholipid, but the converse was found with stearic acid. 4. All four acids labelled the 1- and 2-positions of both lipids; palmitic acid, oleic acid and linoleic acid were approximately evenly distributed, but stearic acid was incorporated predominantly at the 1-position. 5. It is considered that incorporation is most likely brought about through acylation of endogenously derived lysophosphatides. 6. The possible implications of this pathway of lipid metabolism in nervous tissue are discussed.  相似文献

Although lipids are largely involved in cardiovascular physiopathology, the lipid metabolism in endothelial cells remains largely unknown. Human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) were used to investigate the metabolism of complex lipids. The membrane phospholipid homeostasis results from both de novo synthesis and remodelling that ensures the fine tuning of the phospholipid fatty acid composition. Using [(3)H]-glycerol and phosphoderivatives we showed the efficiency of glycerolipid synthesis from glycerol (0.9 nmol h(-1) mg proteins(-1)), but not from its phosphorylated form suggesting the requirement of a functional glycerol kinase in HUVECs. Conversely, the synthesis of triacylglycerols was very low (less than 5% of phospholipid synthesis). The incorporation rate of fatty acids into phospholipids showed that there is a specific fate for each fatty acid in respect to its chain length and saturation level. Moreover in steady state condition, increasing the long chain omega3 polyunsaturated fatty acids in the medium resulted in an increased polyunsaturated/saturated ratio in phospholipids (from 0.42 to 0.63). [(14)C]O(2) was produced form either [(14)C]-glucose or [(14)C]-palmitate indicating the functionality of the oxidation pathways, although beta-oxidation was less efficient than glucose oxidation. The endothelial cell lipid metabolism involves conventional pathways, with functional rates largely slower than in hepatocytes or in cardiomyocytes.  相似文献

High levels of dietary lipids are incorporated in feeds for most teleost fish to promote growth and reduce nitrogen waste. However, in Senegalese sole (Solea senegalensis) previous studies revealed that increasing the level of dietary lipids above 8% negatively affect growth and nutrient utilization regardless of dietary protein content. It has been shown that glucose regulation and metabolism can be impaired by high dietary fat intake in mammals, but information in teleost fish is scarce. The aim of this study was to assess the possible effect of dietary lipids on glucose metabolism in Senegalese sole with special emphasis on the regulation of proteins involved in the muscle insulin-signalling pathway. Senegalese sole juveniles (29 g) were fed two isonitrogenous diets (53% dry matter) for 88 days. These two diets were one with a high lipid level (∼17%, HL) and a moderate starch content (∼14%, LC), and the other being devoid of fish oil (4% lipid, LL) and with high starch content (∼23%, HC). Surprisingly, feeding Senegalese sole the HL/LC diet resulted in prolonged hyperglycaemia, while fish fed on LL/HC diet restored basal glycaemia 2 h after feeding. The hyperglycaemic phenotype was associated with greater glucose-6-phosphatase activity (a key enzyme of hepatic glucose production) and lower citrate synthase activity in the liver, with significantly higher liver glycogen content. Sole fed on HL/LC diet also had significantly lower hexokinase activity in muscle, although hexokinase activity was low with both dietary treatments. The HL/LC diet was associated with significant reductions in muscle AKT, p70 ribosomal S6-K1 Kinase (S6K-1) and ribosomal protein S6 (S6) 2 h after feeding, suggesting down regulation of the AKT-mTOR nutrient signalling pathway in these fish. The results of this study show for the first time that high level of dietary lipids strongly affects glucose metabolism in Senegalese sole.  相似文献

1. The effects of thyrotrophin in vitro on the incorporation of [(14)C]-glucose, -glycerol, -palmitate and -oleate into the lipids of thyroid tissue were examined. 2. Thyrotrophin increased the incorporation of these (14)C-labelled precursors into phosphatidylinositol specifically. 3. Thyrotrophin also increased the proportion of (14)C radioactivity from labelled glucose, glycerol, palmitate and oleate incorporated into the 1,2-diglycerides. 4. The addition of thyrotrophin to thyroid slices for 10min., after 2hr. of prelabelling with [(14)C]glycerol, also increased the proportion of (14)C radioactivity incorporated into the 1,2-diglyceride fraction. 5. After incubation of thyroid tissue with [1-(14)C]palmitate, thyrotrophin caused a two- to three-fold increase in the specific radioactivity of palmitate isolated from phosphatidylinositol and 1,2-diglycerides. In contrast, the specific radioactivity of palmitate isolated from the choline and ethanolamine phosphoglycerides, 1,3-diglycerides and triglycerides was not increased by thyrotrophin.  相似文献

The effect of dietary eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA, 20:5(n-3), as the ethyl ester) on plasma lipid levels and the incorporation of EPA into erythrocyte and plasma lipids were investigated in the marmoset monkey. Marmosets were fed high mixed-fat diets (14.5% total fat) supplemented with or without 0.8% EPA for 30 weeks. Markedly elevated plasma cholesterol (16.4 mmol/l) was induced by an atherogenic-type diet but with EPA supplementation, plasma cholesterol increased to only 6.6 mmol/l. Plasma triacylglycerol levels were not elevated with an atherogenic type diet. Substantial EPA incorporation was evident for plasma phospholipid, triacylglycerol and cholesterol ester fractions. The proportion of docosapentaenoic acid (22:5(n-3)) but not docosahexaenoic acid (22:6(n-3)) was also elevated in these plasma lipid fractions. Greatest incorporation of EPA occurred when it was administered with an atherogenic type diet having a P:M:S (polyunsaturated:monounsaturated:saturated) fatty acid ratio of about 0.2:0.6:1.0 in comparison to the control diet of 1.0:1.0:1.0. Incorporation of EPA and 22:5(n-3)) into erythrocyte phospholipids was also apparent and this was at the expense of linoleic acid (18:2(n-6)). These results in the marmoset highlight both the cholesterol-lowering properties of EPA and the extent of its incorporation into plasma lipids and erythrocyte membrane phospholipids with far greater incorporation occurring when the level of dietary linoleic acid was reduced.  相似文献

In the current study, the effects of marginal Zn deficiency on myelin protein profiles in neonatal rats and rhesus monkeys were investigated. Following mating, rats were fed a Zn-adequate diet,ad libitum (50 μg Zn/g; 50 Zn AL), or a marginal Zn diet (10 μg Zn/g) from day 0 (10 Zn d0) or day 14 (10 Zn d14) of gestation to day 20 postnatal. An additional group of dams was restricted-fed the control diet to the food intake of the 10 Zn d0 group (50 Zn RF). Day 20 pup plasma and liver Zn concentrations in the 10 Zn groups were lower than in the 50 Zn groups. In a parallel experiment, rhesus monkeys were fed a Zn-adequatead libitum diet (100 μg Zn/g) or a marginal Zn diet (4 μg Zn/g diet; MZD) throughout gestation and lactation. Day 30 monkey infant plasma and liver Zn levels were similar in the MZD and control groups. Rat brain and monkey brain cortex weights were similar among the dietary groups. The amount of myelin recovered (mg protein/g brain) from day 20 rat pups from the 10 Zn groups was lower than that recovered from the 50 Zn rat pups. Myelin recovery from the MZD and control monkey infants was similar. When myelin protein profiles were characterized, it was found that the percentages of high-molecular-weight (HMW) proteins and Wolfgram protein were higher, whereas the percentages of small and large basic proteins were lower in myelin from the 10 Zn d0 and 50 Zn RF pups compared to the distribution in the 50 Zn AL rat pups. Results for the 10 Zn d0 and 10 Zn d14 pups were similar for all of the parameters studied. The percentage of HMW proteins was higher and that of basic protein lower in myelin from MZD monkey infants compared to the percentage of these proteins in myelin from controls. Although the interpretation of the rat data is complicated because of the anorexia associated with the Zn deficiency, the observed changes in monkey myelin protein profiles provide strong evidence that maternal Zn deficiency affects myelination in the offspring.  相似文献

Excised cotyledons of Pinus radiata D. Don, cultured under shoot-forming (plus N6-benzyladenine) and elongating (minus N6-benzyladenine) conditions, were fed U-[14C]-glucose for 3 h in the light followed by a 3 h chase period immediately after excision (day 0) and after 3 days of culture (day 3). The incorporation of l4C into individual soluble metabolites as well as into protein was followed. No labelled citrate could be detected at day 0, however, a flow of 14C from glucose to glutamate/ glutamine occurred. During this stage the synthesis of glutamine strongly increased in the cotyledons supplied with N6-benzyladenine, which suggests a positive influence of this cytokinin on nitrogen incorporation prior to differentiation. After 3 days of cultivation large amounts of labelled citrate were detected. An increased incorporation of label into protein due to the cytokinin treatment was not detected during the early culture period (days 0 and 3). Labelled amino acids were incorporated into protein to different degrees, but this was not influenced by the hormonal treatment.  相似文献

Dissolved oxygen at approximately four times normal saturation (42 mg liter) inhibited the growth and metabolism of summer planktonic bacteria in the surface water of alpine oligotrophic Mountain Lake (Giles County, Va.). Data were derived from growth of CFU on membrane filters, d-[U-C]glucose incorporation into the extractable lipid of these CFU, and respiration and assimilation of d-[U-C]glucose by lake water samples. Statistically significant (alpha < 0.05) differences were not detected in either CFU or C incorporation in lipid when superoxide dismutase (30 U ml) or catalase (130 U ml) was added to the medium. Thus, exogenous oxygen by-products apparently are not responsible for the observed inhibition of growth and metabolism.  相似文献

A low protein diet affects amounts of linoleic and arachidonic acids in hepatic microsomal phospholipids of growing rats. Are the changes related to modifications in microsomal delta 6- and delta 5- linoleic acid desaturase activities? Two groups of Wistar rats weighing 80 +/- 5 g at the beginning of the experiment were used: Control group (T) was fed on a 16% gluten + 4% casein diet for 53 days; Experimental group (E) was fed on a 4% gluten + 1% casein diet for 26 days (MP) then Control diet for 27 days (RE). After 2, 14 and 26 days of MP and 2, 15 and 27 days of RE, rats of each group were sacrificed. Protein and water contents of liver, quantitative fatty acid, composition of total lipids in liver and hepatic microsomes were determined. delta 6- and delta 5- linoleic acid desaturase activities were estimated from incubation of liver microsomes with [1-14C] C 18: 2 n-6 or [2(14)C] C 20: 3 n-6 respectively. The low protein diet stops practically ponderal growth. The fatty-acid compositions of microsomal total lipids of E rats were affected in comparison with values of T rats. These modifications persist after 27 days of RE. The C 20: 4 n-6/C 18: 2 n-6 ratio in microsomal total lipids was slightly different between T and E rats but increased strongly during refeeding. Same modifications take place in the fatty-acid composition of hepatic total lipids. After two days of MP, delta 6- and delta 5- desaturase activities were depressed, phenomenon that not persist in the course of MP. These enzyme activities increase to higher values than those of the T after two days of RE.  相似文献

Changes in the metabolism in vivo of amino acids with the lapse of time after feeding a diet were investigated by measuring the incorporation of 14C into some body components one hour after injection with 14C-amino acid mixture.

The incorporation of 14C into protein in the liver and carcass was rather constant, but that into blood sugar, liver glycogen, and lipids in the liver and carcass showed a change with the lapse of time after feeding a 25% casein diet or a protein-free diet. The incorporation of 14C into liver glycogen was stimulated shortly after feeding, but it was reduced at 7 hr, when a large amount of glycogen was still in the liver. On the contrary, the specific activity of blood sugar increased with the lapse of time after feeding. The conversion of 14C-amino acids into lipids in the liver and carcass was stimulated shortly after feeding.

The incorporation of 14C into protein was higher in the rats fed the protein-free diet than in those fed the 25% casein diet, and the higher incorporation was partly counterbalanced by the lower incorporation of 14C into lipids and glycogen in the rats fed the protein-free diet.  相似文献
