Lupeol long-chain fatty acid esters and other triterpenoid constituents from Plumeria obtusifolia

From the bark of Plumeria obtusifolia was isolated a series of lupeol fatty esters with the carbon numbers 16, 18,20 and 21–28 in the fatty acid part. Furthermore, lupeol, lupeol acetate, sitosterol, stigmasterol and campesterol were also identified.     

A guaianolide and other constituents from Lychnophora species

A new guaianolide, 11 β,13-dihydroeremanthine, together with a caryophyllene derivative and pentacyclic triterpenes, has been isolated from Lychnophora species.     

Alkaloidal and other constituents of Uncaria elliptica and canthium dicoccum

A new alkaloid roxburghine X, along with roxburghine D, formosanine and mitraphylline, has been isolated from the bark of Uncaria elliptica. Sitosterol, quinovaic acid, acetylquinovaic acid and scopoletin were isolated from the bark of Canthium dicoccum.     

Triterpenoids of Colletia spinosissima

The neutral components from the stems of Colletia spinosissima Gmel. include lupenone, sitosterol lupeol, daucosterine. Acid hydrolysis of the glycoside fraction afforded ethyl sinapate and two homologous degradation products from the corresponding sapogenins. Mild hydrolysis of the glycoside fraction afforded the intact sapogenins, which have been tentatively assigned the structures (VIIb) and (VIIIb). The chemistry of the latter compounds has been explored.     

Horsfieldin,a lignan and other constituents from Horsfieldia iryaghedhi

A new lignan, horsfieldin [2-(3-hydroxy-4-methoxyphenyl)-6-(3,4-methylenedioxyphenyl)-3,7-dioxabicyclo(3,3,0)octane], d-asarinin, (?)-dihydrocubebin, dodecanoylphloroglucinol, myristic acid, trimyristin and sitosterol have been isolated and characterized from the hot methanol extract of Horsfieldia iryaghedhi seeds. The absolute configuration of the lignans and the chemotaxonomic significance of their occurrence is discussed.     

An isocoumarin and other phenolic components of Ononis natrix

From the n-hexane extract of the whole aerial part of flowering Ononis natrix, besides homopterocarpin and some known terpenoids and sterols, three new compounds: 8-hydroxy-6-methoxy-3-undecyl-3,4-dihydroisocoumarin, 5-(2-acetoxytridecyl)-3-methoxyphenol and 5-(2-hydroxytridecyl)-3-methoxyphenol have been isolated.     

Triterpenoids of Pterocarpus santalinus: Constitution of a new lupene diol

The bark of Pterocarpus santalinus has been found to contain β-amyrone, lupenone, epi-lupeol, lupeol, sitosterol and a new lupene diol whose constitution has been established as lup-(20)29-en-2α,3α-diol.     

Triterpenoid,coumarin and quinone constituents of eleven Diospyros species (Ebenaceae)

From the bark and/or timber extracts of Diospyros hirsuta, D. moonii, D. quaesita, D. spinescens, D. thwaitesii and D. walkeri, the following compounds have been isolated; lupeol, betulin, betulinic acid sitosterol, taraxerol, taraxerone, ursolic acid, oleanolic acid scopoletin, plumbagin, elliptinone, diospyrin and diosindigo A. TLC examination of the bark and timber extract of D. acuta, D. chaetocarpa, D. oblongifolia, D. oppositifolia and D. rheophytica is reported. Lupeol betulin, oleanolic acid and sitosterol have been isolated from the fruit of D. oblongfolia.
