Zusammenfassung Vorliegende Arbeit ist eine Weiterführung derLorenz'schen Bewegungsstudien an Anatinen aus dem Jahre 1941, fortgesetzt an Mischlingen zwischen den dort beschriebenen Arten. Die sich dabei ergebenden Befunde machten eine erneute Untersuchung der Elternarten notwendig. Außerdem wurden einige Arten beobachtet, deren Verhalten noch nicht untersucht worden war. Fragestellung und Begründung werden in der Einleitung gegeben.Im zweiten Abschnitt werden einige der vonLorenz gemachten Beobachtungen berichtigt. So zeigten einige der Kreuzungen mitbahamensis, daß die vonLorenz bei eben dieser Art als Kurzhoch-werden bezeichnete Bewegungsweise dem Ab-auf anderer Schwimmenten homolog ist. Ebenso ist die eine der beiden vonLorenz als Kurzhoch-werden bezeichneten Verhaltensweisen des Krickerpels als Ab-auf zu deuten. Der Gruß desflavirostre-Erpels wurde auch bei weiblichen Tieren gesehen. BeiAnas acuta wurde ein Kinnheben festgestellt, das sich in der Form stark vom Kinnheben beiplatyrhynchos unterscheidet. Als neue Verhaltensweisen wurden u. a. das Haltungannehmen und das Tendieren beimflavirostre-Erpel beschrieben.Im dritten Abschnitt werden einige Verhaltensweisen und ihre Funktion diskutiert und der Versuch gemacht, eine Motivationsanalyse zu geben.(Zeichnungen vonHermann Kacher)  相似文献

180 rainbow trouts (Salmo gairdneriRich.), aged from 1 to 3 years, were examined for fluctuations, caused by age and season, by means of colour index (CI), mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH), and mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC).CI and MCH behave similarly. Both are increasing until the 2nd year and stay relatively constant thereafter. If the gender is not considered — there are no significant differences in the values of males and females — the CI increases from 1,4 in the first year over 1,6 to 1,7 in the age of 3 years, and the MCH increases from 44,4 over 52,6 , 56,8 , 58,1 to 55,5 .A seasonal periodicity of both indices could not be indicated on not-matured animals (F2) which were two summers of age. Only, the january values appeared increased — CI: 2, MCH: 68,3 — otherwise the CI varies between 1,8 and 1,7 and the MCH between 53,3 and 59,1 .The MCHC-values of the age groups examined vary between 24,4% and 27,3%. The values of the yearlings form an exception (19,8%). These values certainly are inexact and too low because of the small number of individuals checked (3).

Zusammenfassung Aus Blumenkohl (Brassica oleracea var.botrytis L.) wurden die darin enthaltenen Indolverbindungen nach vier verschiedenen Methoden extrahiert.Nach der papierchromatographischen und papierelektrophoretischen Aufgliederung der Extrakte aus Blumenkohlrosengewebe konnten insgesamt 13 mit Sprühreagentien färbbare Zonen nachgewiesen werden, bei denen es sich zum größten Teil um Indolderivate handeln dürfte. Hiervon wurden Tryptophan, -Indolylcarbonsäure, -Indolylessigsäure, -Indolylpropionsäure, -Indolylaldehyd und -Indolylacetonitril identifiziert.In den Blättern des Blumenkohls kommen im wesentlichen die gleichen Indolverbindungen wie in den Blumenkohlrosen vor.Die in den verschiedenen Entwicklungsstadien und Pflanzenteilen des Blumenkohls vorliegenden Mengen an -Indolylcarboxylsäure, -Indolylessigsäure und -Indolylpropionsäure wurden quantitativ bestimmt und untereinander verglichen; die Menge des jeweils vorhandenen -Indolylacetonitrils konnte aus methodischen Gründen nur relativ bestimmt werden.Bei der quantitativen Bestimmung konnte — bezogen auf das Frischgewicht — in den Blättern im Laufe der Ontogenie eine Zunahme im Gehalt an -Indolylcarboxylsäure, -Indolylessigsäure und -Indolylpropionsäure festgestellt werden. Beim -Indolylacetonitril-Gehalt der Blätter zeigte sich gleichfalls eine Zunahme während der Entwicklung; ausgewachsene Blätter von Pflanzen mit Rosen (Tabelle 3, Stadium 4) wiesen aber einen geringeren Gehalt an -Indolylacetonitril auf als die Blätter jüngerer Pflanzen (Stadium 1–3).Der Gehalt an -Indolylcarboxylsäure, -Indolylessigsäure, -Indolylpropionsäure und -Indolylacetonitril ist im Gewebe von Blumenkohlrosen wesentlich höher als in den anderen extrahierten Pflanzenteilen (Blätter, Blütensprosse und Blüten, unreife Früchte).Mit 1 TextabbildungErster Teil einer Dissertation der Naturwissenschaftlich-Philosophischen Fakultät der Justus Liebig-Universität, Gießen.Die Abkürzungen der Indolverbindungen sind auf S. 467 und in Tabelle 1 zusammengestellt.  相似文献

Reserpine inhibited batrachotoxin-elicited sodium influx in guinea pig brain synaptoneurosomes with an IC50 of about 1 M. In the presence of brevetoxin the IC50 increased to about 80 M. Reserpine inhibited binding of batrachotoxinin-A [3H]benzoate ([3H]BTX-B) binding in a complex manner causing a partial inhibition from 0.001 to 0.08 M, then a rebound stimulation from 0.1 to 0.8 M, followed by complete inhibition by 80 M. The stimulation was prevented by the presence of brevetoxin; reserpine then smoothly inhibited binding with an IC50 of about 1 M. Reserpine at 1 M slightly reduced the off-rate of [3H]BTX-B binding measured in the presence of veratridine, while at a concentration of 50 M it enhanced the off-rate, presumably by an allosteric mechanism. Reserpine at 0.3–10 M elicited a partial inhibition of the binding of [3H]brevetoxin-3. The local anesthetic dibucaine had effects similar to reserpine: It partially inhibited binding of [3H]brevetoxin. The presence of brevetoxin reduced the potency of dibucaine as an inhibitor of batrachotoxin-elicited sodium influx from an IC50 of about 2 M to an IC50 of about 50 M. The results suggest that reserpine binds at both a local anesthetic site to cause allosteric inhibition of batrachotoxin-binding and action, but that it also binds to another site causing, like brevetoxin, an enhancement of batrachotoxin-binding and action. Embryogenic avocado cultures were exposed to ionizing irradiation in order to determine its effect on proliferation and subsequent somatic embryo development. The approximate PD50 as determined by linear regression is 35 Gy 2 weeks after irradiation for Fuerte 2.11.1 and 4 weeks after irradiation for T362 2.11.1. Irradiation of embryogenic cultures did not significantly affect the number of early stage Fuerte 2.11.1 somatic embryos that developed directly from irradiated cultures; however, 10–50 Gy inhibited somatic embryo development. Irradiation of T362 2.11.1 embryogenic cultures at 25–50 Gy inhibited the number of intermediate and mature stages of somatic embryos that developed directly from irradiated cultures, and 50 Gy inhibited somatic embryo maturation. Inhibition of somatic embryo development could be partially offset by proliferation of irradiated embryogenic cultures as suspensions. Irradiation up to 10 Gy significantly increased the number of mature Fuerte 2.11.1 somatic embryos that developed from suspension cultures. Irradiation with doses up to 25 Gy stimulated development of heart stage T362 2.11.1 somatic embryos; however, mature somatic embryo development was suppressed at dosages of 10 Gy and greater.  相似文献

An analytical review is performed of the literature data on the hydrolysis rate, affinity of substrate to active center, and constants of the substrate inhibition (K ss) at hydrolysis of the choline (acetyl-, propyonyl-, butyrylcholine, acetyl--methylcholine) and/or of corresponding thiocholine substrates by 59 cholinesterases from 49 different animals (chordate, insects, molluscs, nematodes). The characteristic peculiarities of enzymes from different groups of animals are revealed. The absence of regular changes of parameters of the cholinesterase substrate specificity in the course of evolutionary development is shown.  相似文献

A mineral salts medium supplemented with peptone and 40mg% cystine supported enhanced sporulation (1011spores/ ml) and high yields of insecticidal crystal protein (17.2mg/ml) in Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. kurstaki (3a3b) in 2.0l baffled aerated cylinders. These high yields could also be achieved with defatted soybean and groundnut seed meal extracts when supplemented with cystine.  相似文献

The response of a susceptible strain and the diazinon-selected strain of houseflies, the SKA, to 20 organophosphorus insecticides was measured by topical application and injection.The SKA strain was very resistant to diazinon, ethyl chlorthion, chlorthion and parathion, moderately resistant to five other insecticides and only slightly resistant to the remainder. It was more resistant to the diethoxy than dimethoxy compounds and was only very slightly resistant to malathion. The compounds, especially the phosphates, were more toxic when injected than when applied topically. Additions or substitutions in the phenyl ring of the parathion molecule resulted in compounds less toxic than parathion, particularly to susceptible flies.
Zusammenfassung Die Reaktion eines anfälligen und des auf Diazinonresistenz ausgelesenen Stammes SKA der Stubenfliege auf Organophosphor-Insektizide wurde nach topischer Applikation und Injektion gemessen.Der SKA-Stamm war sehr widerstandsfähig gegen Diazinon, Äthylchlorthion, Chlorthion und Parathion, mäßig resistent gegen fünf andere Insektizide und nur schwach resistent gegen die übrigen. Er war gegen die Diäthoxy-Verbindungen widerstandsfähiger als gegen Dimethoxy-Verbindungen und gegen Malathion nur sehr schwach resistent. Die Verbindungen, insbesondere die Phosphate, wirkten injiziert giftiger als bei äußerer Applikation. Additionen und Substitutionen im Phenyl-Ring des Parathion-Moloküls ergaben Verbindungen, die besonders gegen anfällige Fliegen weniger toxisch wirken.

Isolates of aflatoxin-producing strains of Aspergillus grow on autoclaved and field-grown (lesser extent) Glycine max beans. Both mixed and aflatoxin B1 inhibit G. max, cv. Essex bean germination and elongation of either attached or excised cultured roots. Because B1 impairs the latter roots' ability to intracellularize [14C]-leucine, it may alter plasmalemma structure and/or function. To determine whether incubation of excised roots for 18 hours in toxin-containing medium could affect cellular membrane chemical content, organelles were isolated by differential centrifugation (1 000, 40 000, and 80 000 xg) of homogenates and characterized chemically. Statistically significant differences between treated and untreated roots in acid insoluble protein but not either sterol or lipid phosphorus levels were observed for both 40,000 and 80,000 xg pellets. Protein and sterol recoveries were 81 (treated) and 84 (untreated) % for the former and 77 (treated) and 79 (untreated) % for the latter. Lipid phosphorus recoveries were 87.3 (treated) and 136 (untreated) % with and 96 (treated) and 83 (untreated) without membrane stabilization. Protein:sterol:lipid phosphorus were 35.74.51 (1 000 xg), 18.93.61 (40000 xg), 26.34.61 (80 000 xg) and 1,010291 (80 000 xg supernatant) for untreated and 36.93.31 (1,000 xg), 23.13.81 (40 000 xg), 36.24.81 (80 000 xg) and 1,05321.71 (80 000 xg supernatant) for treated roots. Significant differences in RNA content between treated and untreated roots were found for both 1 000 and 40 000 xg pellets but not for the 80 000 xg pellet and its supernatant. Whereas a significant increase in the 1 000 xg pellet occurred upon treatment, a decrease was noted for the 40 000 xg pellet but not for the 80 000 xg pellet and its supernatant. Similar pH 6 (plasmalemma marker enzyme) and 9 (mitochondrial marker enzyme) K+-stimulated ATPase activities were demonstrated for 40 000 and 80 000 xg pellets. The 1 000 xg pellet contained greater than 50% of the NADH-cytochrome c-reductase activity (endoplasmic reticulum marker enzyme) recovered from fractions examined for this activity which was absent from the 40 000 xg pellet. Both the 80 000 xg pellet and its supernatant possessed equivalent reductase activities. Inosine diphosphatase activity (dictyosome marker enzyme) was not present in 1 000 xg pellets obtained from either treated or untreated roots but was in both 40 000 and 80 000 xg pellets. Polyclonal antibodies to mouse - and /-caseins were raised in rabbits. These antibodies display tissue- and species specificity as shown by immunoblotting. Immunohistochemical analyses demonstrate that both - and /-caseins were synthesized and secreted from virtually all lactating mammary epithelial cells, in a pattern very similar to that of the mouse -lactalbumin. Residual amounts of caseins were located also in the apical surface of epithelial cells surrounding the ducal lumen of virgin mammary gland sections. In contrast to the significant level of -casein in the milk, the amount of this protein compared to - or -caseins was extremely low in medium conditioned for 24 h by mammary explants of mid-pregnant mice immediately after explantation or after 4 days.  相似文献

Summary The binding properties of Arachis hypogaea (PNA), Bauhinia vurpurea alba (BPL), Maclura pomifera (MPL) and Sophora japonica (SJL) lectins were studied by quantitative precipitin and precipitin inhibition assays, demonstrating them to be most specific for dGal13dGalNAc residues. Additionally, each lectin had its own binding characteristic such as different binding abilities to dGal14dGlcNAc or dGal13dGlcNAc1linked oligosaccharides, and/or dGalNAc1linked to the Ser or Thr of the protein moiety. Aspects of the life history of Labeo cylindricus in Lake Chicamba, a man made hydroelectric dam in central Mozambique were investigated. L. cylindricus was found to be a potadrometic, synchronous spawner concentrating in river mouths prior to migrating up flowing rivers in January to spawn. Length-at-(50%)-maturity was attained at a fork length (FL) of 96mm for males and 98mm for females, both within their first year of life. The adult sex ratio was found to be female dominated at 1 male:1.63 females. Scales were used to age the species, with two growth checks deposited annually. Growth was rapid and was best described by the von Bertalanffy growth model as L t =224.2(1–e-0.66(r+0.03))mm FL. A maximum age of 4 years was observed for L. cylindricus with the largest male and female measuring 210mm FL and 235mm FL, respectively. The rate of natural mortality was estimated to be extremely high at 1.93year-1 using length-converted catch curve analysis and is possibly a response to heavy predation by the introduced piscivore Micropterus salmoides.  相似文献

Occupational exposure to beryllium (Be) and Be compounds occurs in a wide range of industrial processes. A large number of workers are potentially exposed to this metal during manufacturing and processing, so there is a concern regarding the potential carcinogenic hazard of Be. Studies were performed to determine the carcinogenic potential of beryllium sulfate (BeSO4) in cultured mammalian cells. BALB/c3T3 cells were treated with varying concentrations of BeSO4 for 72 h and the transformation frequency was determined after 4 weeks of culturing. Concentrations from 50–200 g BeSO4/ml, caused a concentrationdependent increase (9–41 fold) in transformation frequency. Nontransformed BALB/c3T3 cells and cells from transformed foci induced by BeSO4 were injected into both axillary regions of nude mice. All ten Beinduced transformed cell lines injected into nude mice produced fibrosarcomas within 50 days after cell injection. No tumors were found in nude mice receiving nontransformed BALB/c3T3 cells 90 days postinjection. Gene amplification was investigated in Kras, cmyc, cfos, cjun, csis, erbB2 and p53 using differential PCR while random amplified polymorphic DNA fingerprinting was employed to detect genomic instability. Gene amplification was found in Kras and cjun, however no change in gene expression or protein level was observed in any of the genes by Western blotting. Five of the 10 transformed cell lines showed genetic instability using different random primers. In conclusion, these results indicate that BeSO4 is capable of inducing morphological cell transformation in mammalian cells and that transformed cells induced by BeSO4 are potentially tumorigenic. Also, cell transformation induced by BeSO4 may be attributed, in part, to the gene amplification of Kras and cjun and some BeSO4induced transformed cells possess neoplastic potential resulting from genomic instability.  相似文献

Summary 1. Ecological studies of the kelp forests of Pacific North America have understandably stressed the larger vegetational components. An important vegetational component, previously neglected, is a taxonomically complex turf or parvosilvosa (Gislén 1930), composed of small algae and microscopic reproductive or developmental forms of larger algae.2. This report considers the ecological importance of this smaller plant component within the framework of the overall vegetational structure. Both diving studies and the cultivation of experimental material in the laboratory under controlled conditions have been utilized to probe the questions involved.3. Rocks and shells covered with representative algal turf have been cultured in the laboratory in naturally or artificially-illuminated tanks provided with a continuous supply of filtered seawater, and the resulting species composition has been compared with that occurring in nature.4. Both luxuriant forms of previously collected material and new forms have been observed in these cultures. Certain of these algae grow extremely well in culture and in some cases continue to reproduce, generating successive crops of plants. Growth rates under laboratory conditions for a few species have been measured and approach what might be expected in the field.5. Elective culture results suggest that many benthic algae may well exist for periods of time as resting or resistant stages, awaiting favorable environmental conditions. Stages such as those postulated have been produced in the laboratory.6. Complete taxonomic or ecological surveys of subtidal areas, and particularly the deeper benthic regions near the lower limits of plant distribution would benefit from culture studies of the type described. Subtidal benthic algae also lend themselves readily to experimental manipulation, and the results obtained to date, although preliminary, suggest possible experimental approache to subtidal ecology.
Komposition und Wachstum von Parvosilvosa aus dem untergetauchten Gezeitenbereich kalifornischer Tangwälder
Kurzfassung Als Parvosilvosa werden taxonomisch komplexe, rasenartige Pflanzenbestände bezeichnet, die aus kleinen Algen und mikroskopischen Entwicklungsstadien größerer Algen bestehen. Die vorliegende Untersuchung erörtert die ökologische Bedeutung dieser Pflanzenkomponente als Teil der örtlichen Gesamtflora; sie basiert auf Schwimmtauch-Studien und Laboratoriumsexperimenten. Mit Parvosilvosa bedeckte Felsstücke und Molluskenschalen wurden unter Laboratoriumsbedingungen natürlichem und künstlichem Licht ausgesetzt. In den Kulturen konnten sowohl luxurierende Formen von bereits aus dem Biotop bekanntem Material als auch neue Formen festgestellt werden. Einige dieser Algen wuchsen sehr gut in Kultur und schritten zur sexuellen Fortpflanzung. Offenbar existieren viele benthonische Algen zeitweise in Form von Ruhestadien. Unter günstigen Bedingungen — wie sie beispielsweise in unseren Kulturen geboten werden — wachsen sie dann zu adulten Pflanzen heran. Die Erfassung des gesamten Algenbestandes eines Biotops dürfte durch die hier angewandten Methoden erleichtert werden. Die durchgeführten Untersuchungen ergeben neue Ansatzpunkte für experimentelle Arbeiten im Litoral.

Summary Rat kidney fibroblasts transformed with SV-40 produce in vitro a significantly lower amount of hydroxyproline-containing material which is collagenase sensitive as compared to normal cells. Summary Measurements of the radiation extinction in a meadow at Baumkirchen (Tyrol) show that the decrease in the photosynthetically active radiation (PhAR: 400–700 nm) is different to that of the total net-radiation in a characteristic way. The photosynthetically active radiation is distributed evenly to all vegetation layers, the active surface comprises practically the entire 90 cm high canopy. The total radiation energy (net-radiation) is absorbed and 45% is converted into sensible and latent heat only in a 25 cm wide layer, i.e., between 30 and 55 cm within the canopy. A second active surface lies in the lowermost 10 cm of the meadow and at the soil surface where additional 28% of the radiation energy is transformed into heat.  相似文献

The effect of various concentrations of natural and chemically modified cyclodextrins on the luminescence of an Escherichia coli suspension was investigated. All cyclodextrins were found to reduce, albeit to a varying degree, the luminescence level of the bacterial cells, thus suggesting a direct interaction between the cyclodextrins and cells. The inhibitory concentrations IC20 and IC50 of the various cyclodextrins were determined and taken to represent their toxicity effects upon the bacterial cells. Among the natural cyclodextrins, - and -CD interfered minimally with the bacterial luminescence and consequently were essentially non-toxic. The following descending order of toxicity was observed: -CD -CD > -CD. Among the chemically modified cyclodextrins, Dimeb was clearly toxic while Trimeb and the hydroxylated derivatives (hydroxypropyl-ga-CD, HPACD;--CD, HPBCD;--CD, HPGCD) were essentially non-toxic. The following descending order of toxicity was observed: Dimeb HPBCD > Trimeb > HPACD > HPGCD.  相似文献

An aqueous two-phase system based on the two polymers poly(ethylene glycol) and dextran has been used for the fractionation of cellulase enzymes present in culture liquid obtained by fermentation with Trichoderma reesei. The activities of -glucosidase and glucanases were separated to high degree by using the two-phase systems for a counter-current distribution process in nine transfer steps. While the glucanases had high affinity to the poly(ethylene glycol) rich top phase the -glucosidase was enriched in the dextran-containing bottom phase. Multiple counter-current distribution performed indicates the heterogeneity of -glucosidase activities assuming at least four isoenzyme forms. One step concentration of -glucosidase by using system with 46:1 phase volume ratio resulted in 16 times higher enzyme activity.This revised version was published online in October 2005 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

Summary Short-term ACTH treatment provoked a decrease in volume of the lipid-droplet compartment in rat zona glomerulosa cells, and a rise in plasma and intracellular concentrations of corticosterone and aldosterone. It enhanced activities of 3-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase (3HSD), 11-hydroxylase (11OH) and 18-hydroxylase (18OH). Long-term ACTH administration produced a hypertrophy of the zona glomerulosa and its parenchymal cells, a result of the increase in volume of the smooth endoplasmic reticulum and the mitochondrial compartment. The surface area per cell of mitochondrial inner membranes increased; the tubular cristae were transformed into a homogeneous population of vesicles. The plasma and intracellular concentrations of corticosterone further increased, whereas those of aldosterone fell below basal levels (the aldosterone-escape phenomenon). The activities of 3HSD and 11OH were enhanced, that of 180H decreased. Therefore, ACTH stimulates zona glomerulosa growth and transforms parenchymal elements into zona fasciculata celltypes. Cyanoketone nullified acute ACTH effects on plasma and intracellular concentrations of corticosterone and aldosterone, but did not affect the activities of 11OH and 18OH. Chronic ACTH treatment produced similar results, although 18OH activity was not suppressed. The mechanism underlying the aldosterone-escape phenomenon may thus involve a rise in the intracellular concentration of corticosterone, caused by the enhanced synthesis and activation of 3HSD and 11OH.  相似文献

The cell-surface expression of major histocompatibility (MHC) antigens and the adhesion molecule intercellular adhesion molecule 1 (ICAM-1) is essential for target cell recognition by T lymphocytes. The expression of both classes of molecule is induced by various cytokines, notably interferon (IFN). Since transforming growth factor (TGF) has been recently reported to antagonise HLA-DR induction by IFN we have examined, using a number of murine and human cell lines, the effect of TGF on IFN-induced MHC class I and class II and ICAM-1 expression. All of the cell lines tested expressed elevated class I MHC following IFN treatment. Class II MHC induction was seen on most but not all of the cells, the exceptions being among a panel of human colorectal carcinoma cell lines. A striking difference between cells of different origin was noted in the response to TGF. TGF was found to antagonise IFN-induced class I and class II MHC expression on C3H 10T1/2 murine fibroblasts, early-passage BALB/c mouse embryo fibroblasts, a murine oligodendroglioma cell line, and on MRC5 human fibroblasts and two human glioblastoma cell lines. Class II MHC was much more strongly inhibited (sometimes completely) than class I MHC. TGF also inhibited induction of class I MHC expression by IFN. However, TGF did not inhibit class I or class II MHC induction by IFN in any of the nine colorectal carcinoma cell lines, although two of five of the lines tested were growth-inhibited by TGF. On the other hand, human ICAM-1 induction by IFN was not affected by simultaneous treatment with TGF in any of the cell lines. The down-regulation of IFN-induced MHC antigens by TGF is not, therefore, the result of a general antagonism of IFN. Retinoic acid has recently been reported to induce ICAM-1 expression on human tumour cells. We have confirmed this observation on MRC5, and the two human glioblastoma cell lines, however six colorectal carcinoma cell lines tested did not respond. In contrast to IFN-induced ICAM-1 expression, retinoic-acid-induced ICAM-1 expression was inhibited by TGF on two of the three responsive lines.  相似文献
