Physiological and biochemical properties were tested in 45 isolates ofAspergillus egyptiacus (16 isolates),Emericella nidulans (16) andAspergillus versicolor (13). The three fungal species exhibited common and similar features. The big similarity betweenA. egyptiacus andE. nidulans was greater than betweenA. egyptiacus andA. versicolor. It included the inability to produce base either from sodium citrate or lactic acid media, growth at 45 °C (thermophilicity), and production of very similar pigmentations onAspergillus flavus andparasiticus agar.A. egyptiacus is therefore better placed in theAspergillus nidulans-Emericella assemblage.  相似文献

Sterigmatocystin (ST) is a secondary metabolite and a principal mycotoxin known to be produced by over 30 species of filamentous fungi. It is also one of the late intermediates in aflatoxin biosynthesis. We have tested the ability of 7 species ofAspergillus, including 4 strains ofA. versicolor, one species ofBipolaris, and two species ofChaetomium, to produce ST on a sucrose-salts-phenylalanine defined medium as well as on three complex substrates. Highest ST production in our survey was by a strain ofA. versicolor grown on wheat, whereas, the highest ST production on defined medium was byC. cellulolyticum. To our knowledge, this is the first report of ST production byC. cellulolyticum on any substrate. In precursor feeding studies, resting cultures of wild typeA. nidulans andA. versicolor were unable to biotransform O-methylsterigmatocystin (OMST), the last known intermediate in aflatoxin biosynthesis. These results suggest that ST is the end product of polyketide metabolism in the strains tested.  相似文献

Water extracts of thermal and acoustic fiberglass insulations used in the duct work of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems supported germination of conidia and growth ofAspergillus versicolor (Vuillemin) Tiraboschi 1908–9 andAspergillus fumigatus Fresenius 1863. Urea, formaldehyde and unidentified organics were detected in the extracts. Formaldehyde in concentrations similar to those found in the extracts restricted the growth of both species in enriched media.A. versicolor, the more common species associated with fiberglass insulations, was more resistant to formaldehyde thanA. fumigatus.  相似文献

A total of 1267 microfungi, including 35 Myxomycetes, were recorded from the fecal samples of the 60 horses; of these 395 were found on 20 saddle-horse feces, 363 on 20 race-horses and 509 on 20 working-horses. Eighty two species representing 53 genera were recorded; of these 7 were Zygomycetes, 18 Ascomycetes, 1 Basidiomycetes and 25 Fungi Imperfecti: 2 Myxomycetes. Common coprophilous fungi are in decreasing orderPilobolus kleinii, Saccobolus depauperatus, Mucor hiemalis, Lasiobolus ciliatus, Podospora curvula, Petriella guttulata, M. circinelloides, Coprinus radiatus, Dictyostelium mucoroides, Sordaria fimicola, C. miser, C. stercorarius, Acremonium sp., Coprotus granuliformis, Graphium putredinis, Iodophanus carneus, Chaetomium murorum, Podospora communis, P. inaequalis, P. setosa, Saccobolus versicolor andCladosporium cucumerinum. Species ofMyrothecium verrucaria, Actinomucor elegans, Kernia nitida, Spiculostilbella dendritica andMucorparvispora were found exclusively in working-horses feces.Badhamia sp., Anixiopsis stercoraria, Echinobotryum state ofD. stemonitis, Geotrichum candidum andOidiodendron sp. were found only in saddle-horses feces.Chlamidomyces palmarum andPhilocopra sp. were found exclusively in race-horses feces.Notes on infrequent or interesting fungi includeThamnostylum piriforme, Phialocephala dimorphospora, Rhopalomyces elegans andSpiculostilbella dendritica.  相似文献

The ciliostatic activity of the chloroform-extractable endo- and exometabolites of 5 strains of filamentous fungi—Alternaria sp.,Aspergillus glaucus group,Aspergillus versicolor, Cladosporium sphœrospermum, Penicillium sp. andUlocladium sp.—isolated from molded walls of a dwelling—on tracheal cilia from 1-d-old chicksin vitro was evaluated. Endometabolites ofAlternaria sp. andA. versicolor and exometabolites ofUlocladium sp. were the most active, these extracts stopped the ciliary movement within 1 d. The results are discussed in relation to the health status of people living in “moldy” dwellings.  相似文献

The effects of thirteen kinds of powdered herbal drugs and seven kinds of commercial dry condiments on the growth and toxin production ofAspergillus parasiticus, A. flavus,A. ochraceus, andA. versicolor were observed by introducing these substances into culture media for mycotoxin production.Of the twenty samples tested, cinnamon bark completely inhibited the fungal growth, while the others only inhibited the toxin production.The inhibitors were easily extracted from the samples with solvents such as hot water, chloroform, or ethanol.The extracts from coptis, philodendron bark, mustard, green tea leaves, and zanthoxylum completely inhibited the aflatoxin production ofA. parasiticus, however, they had little or no inhibitory effect againstA. flavus.  相似文献

A comprehensive survey has been carried out on the occurrence ofAspergillus species in the respiratory tract of patients of bronchopulmonary diseases in Delhi. In all, 1238 clinical specimens, which included 1082 sputa, 143 bronchial aspirates and 13 throat swabs obtained from 812 patients, were examined. Of these 61.7 per cent patients were culturally positive yielding 29 different species ofAspergillus. The prevalence of aspergilli in sputa was significantly higher than in the bronchial aspirates.Aspergillus niger was the commonest species isolated showing a prevalence of 36.7 per cent. It was followed byA. flavus, A. nidulans, A. terreus, A. versicolor, A. sydowi, A. japonicus andA. oryzae. None of theAspergillus species showed a significant correlation with any of the diseases, or the type of treatment the patients had received. Of the 8 broad occupational groups investigated farmers and labourers showed higher prevalence ofA. niger andA. flavus. The prevalence ofAspergillus species in the throats of healthy persons was 16 per cent withA. versicolor being the commonest species followed byA. flavus, A. amstelodami, A. sydowi andA. terreus. A comparison of the prevalence ofAspergillus species in the patients, healthy individuals and atmosphere of Delhi appears to support the view that the aspergilli are transient residents in the human respiratory tract following their inhalation from the environment.  相似文献

Dominant phylloplane fungi of guava (Psidium guajava L.) were screened for their antagonistic activities against the two pathogens,Colletotrichum gloeosporioides andPestalotia psidii, bothin vitro andin vivo. Culture filtrates ofAspergillus niger, Fusarium oxysporum andPenicillium citrinum caused more than 50% growth inhibition ofC. gloeosporioides. Filtrates ofCephalosporium roseo-griseum andF. oxysporum were most effective in reducing the growth ofP. psidii. Volatiles produced from the cultures ofA. niger, F. oxysporum, P. citrinum andP. oxalicum inhibited the growth ofC. gloeosporioides, whereas volatiles fromC. roseo-griseum, F. oxysporum andTrichoderma harzianum inhibited the growth ofP. psidii. The inhibitory effect of volatiles decreased with increase in incubation time. In general, the maximum effect of volatiles was noticed after 48 h incubation. Different grades of colony interactions in dual cultures were recognised between the two pathogens and the phylloplane fungi examined. Maximum inhibition ofC. gloeosporioides was caused byAureobasidium pullulans, Cladosporium cladosporioides, epicoccum purpurascens, F. oxysporum andMyrothecium roridum, whereasAspergillus terreus, C. roseo-griseum andP. oxalicum significantly reduced the growth ofP. psidii. Application of a spore suspension of each test fungus inhibited lesion development of guava leaves caused by the test pathogensin vitro. Inhibition was more pronounced when the spore concentration was increased.A. pullulans, C. cladosporioides, E. purpurascens, F. oxysporum, andT. harzianum were found to be strongly antagonistic toC. gloeosporioides. In view of their awnless stamens and pseudo-10-loculed berries borne on short racemes several NE Asian species ofVaccinium (includingV. hirtum, V. smallii, V. versicolor, andV. yakushimense) were transferred toVaccinium sectionCyanococcus by Sleumer (1941). Subsequently, however, Stevens (1969) and Vander Kloet (1972, 1981) argued on the basis of further study that these taxa should be transferred instead to sectionHemimyrtillus. Phenetic analyses of data from representatives of sectionsCyanococcus andHemimyrtillus, including NE Asian taxa transferred by Sleumer, demonstrate the distinctness of the two sections and support the assignment of the NE Asian taxa to sectionHemimyrtillus. A revised taxonomic treatment and key to the species ofVaccinium sectionHemimyrtillus is provided.  相似文献

Ligninolytic enzymes of the white rot fungiCoriolopsis polyzona, Phanerochaete chrysosporium, andTrametes versicolor growing on wheat straw under nearly natural conditions were investigated. Manganese peroxidase (MnP), secreted as early as on day 3, was dominant over other activities during the initial phase (the first 10 days). Its activity profile was similar in all the three fungi. Lignin peroxidase (LIP) was not detected in the extracellular enzyme extracts ofC. polyzona andP. chrysosporium cultures.T. versicolor secreted LIP after 10 d of growth. Another, recently described, enzyme activity of manganese-independent peroxidase (MIP) was detected in all the three fungi tested and it appeared on about day 5 (later than MnP and earlier than LIP); it was the dominant activity after day 10. Laccase activity appeared at basal levels without any significant changes. Pyranose 2-oxidase was probably the major extracellular H2O2-generating activity (with all the three fungi) that appeared contemporarily with MnP, increased with time, peaking on day 17–18. Glyoxal oxidase could not be detected with any of the fungi.  相似文献

Twelve species ofArachniodes from Japan were examined for phloroglucinol derivatives and glandularity of rhizome and petiole bases. For comparison 3 species ofDryopteris, 1 species ofCtenitis, 4 species ofPolystichum, and 1 species ofAcystopteris were also investigated. Phloroglucinol derivatives were detected for the first time by sensitive TLC in the followingArachniodes, Dryopteris andPolystichum species:A. amabilis, A. dimorphophylla, A. exilis, A. hasseltii, A. maximowiczii, A. miqueliana, A. mutica, A. nipponica, A. okinawensis, A. simplicior incl. var.major, D. hayatae, D. sparsa, andP. tsus-simense. On the other hand,A. pseudo-aristata, A. standishii, P. polyblepharum, P. pseudomakinoi, P. retroso-paleaceum, Ctenitis maximowicziana, andAcystopteris japonica were totally lacking phloroglucinols. The phloroglucinol containing species ofArachniodes andPolystichum contained external glands, whereas those ofDryopteris contained internal and/or external glands. External glands are common inDryopteris sect. Nephrocystis. In taxa lacking phloroglucinols no glands were present. The homologous iso-aspidins BB and AB were detected in ferns for the first time.  相似文献

The genetic variation between two allopatric populations ofBulnesia retama and that ofB. schickendantzii andB. foliosa was investigated. The Peruvian population ofB. retama showed low values of P (0.117) and He (0.057) compared to those in the Argentine population with P = 0.59 and He = 0.269;B. schickendantzii showed P = 0.54 andB. foliosa P = 0.17. Genetic identity between the latter was 0.836 and between the allopatric populations ofB. retama was 0.89; the Peruvian population had reduced allelic variation per locus (A = 1.176) in comparison to the Argentine population (A = 1.955). The values of A, P, He andWright's fixation indices suggest that the Peruvian population could have originated from a single or very few migrants from southern latitudes (founder effect).  相似文献

The effects of 4 or 8 drought cycles on four grass species,Cenchrus pennisetiformis, Leptochloa fusca, Panicum turgidum, andPennisetum divisum were assessed in a pot experiment. There were significant differences between the species in biomass production under water stress.C. pennisetiformis andP. turgidum produced significantly greater fresh and dry matter thanP. divisum and especially thanL. fusca. L. fusca had the lowest andP. divisum highest osmotic potentials compared with the other species after the completion of 4 or 8 drought cycles. Osmotic adjustment (difference between osmotic potential of droughted/rehydrated plants and control plants) was highest inL. fusca. The stomatal conductance was significantly decreased with increased drought stress inC. pennisetiformis. The elasticity ofC. pennisetiformis, P. turgidum andP. divisum increased with increase in number of drought cycles, whereas that ofL. fusca remained unchanged.L. fusca andP. turgidum had the lowest leaf hydration of all species after 8 drought cycles. The chlorophyllsa andb in all species remained unaffected by drought treatments. The proline content ofC. pennisetiformis andL. fusca increased significantly with increased drought stress, whereas that ofP. turgidum remained unaffected after 4 or 8 drought cycles.L. fusca synthesized great amount of leaf soluble proteins during 8 drought cycles, whereasP. divisum had low protein content after 4 drought cycles. The protein contents ofC. pennisetiformis andP. turgidum remained unaffected after 8 drought cycles. The leaf epicuticular wax ofL. fusca increased consistently with increased drought stress, but leaf wax ofP. divisum increased only at the highest drought stress and that ofC. pennisetiformis andP. turgidum increased after 4 drought cycles. On the basis of these results it was established thatC. pennisetiformis andP. turgidum were the most tolerant,P. divisum intermediate, andL. fusca the most sensitive to drought stress. The osmotic adjustment did not positively correlate with the degree of drought resistance.  相似文献

The subfamilyPhytelephantoideae comprises three genera (Ammandra, Aphandra, andPhytelephas) and seven species of dioecious palms. The floral scents ofAmmandra dasyneura, A. decasperma, Aphandra natalia, Phytelephas aequatorialis, P. macrocarpa, andP. seemannii were analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. We studied the pollination biology ofA. natalia, P. aequatorialis, andP. macrocarpa, and tested how the synthetically produced main constituents of the floral scents ofAphandra andPhytelephas attracted insects in two natural populations ofPhytelephas. The genera are distinct in terms of floral scents.Ammandra has sesquiterpenes,Aphandra (+)-2-methoxy-3-sec-butylpyrazine, andPhytelephas p-methyl anisol. These constituents dominated the scents quantitatively and qualitatively. The similarity between scents of male and female inflorescences was 76.5% inAmmandra, 84.2% inAphandra, and >99% inPhytelephas. Different species ofAleocharinae (Staphylinidae) pollinateAphandra natalia andPhytelephas species and reproduce in their male inflorescences.Derelomini (Curculinoidae) andMystrops (Nitidulidae) only visit and pollinatePhytelephas in which male inflorescences they reproduce. A species ofBaridinae (Curculionidae) only visits and pollinatesAphandra natalia, and reproduces in its female inflorescence. The apparent reliance on one or a few floral scent constituents as attractants and few and specific pollinators may indicate co-evolution. Sympatric species ofPhytelephantoideae have different scents. We suggest that species with similar scents have allopatric distributions due to the absence of a pollinator isolation mechanism.  相似文献

A pectic polysaccharide, lemnan, was isolated from freshly collected duckweedLemna minor L. Its sugar chain was shown to be mainly composed of the residues ofD-galacturonic acid (64%), galactose, arabinose, xylose, andD-apiose, a branched chain sugar. The high content ofD-apiose (25%) indicated that lemnan is an apiogalacturonan type pectin similar to zosteran, a pectic polysaccharide from a sea phanerogam of the Zosteraceae family. The results of partial acidic hydrolysis, pectinase digestion, and NMR studies of lemnan demonstrated that its macromolecule contains regions of the linear α-1,4-D-galacturonan and branched apiogalacturonan. The side chains of apiogalacturonan were found to be formed of single and 1,5-linked residues ofD-apiofuranose attached to 2- and 3-positions of theD-galacturonic acid residues of the apiogalacturonan backbone. Lemnan was shown to exhibit an immunomodulatory effect activating the system of phagocytosis.  相似文献

The developmental times and the reproduction of two resistant Italian strains ofTyphlodromus pyri Scheuten andAmblyseius andersoni (Chant) were studied in the laboratory by rearing them on the spider mitesPanonychus ulmi (Koch) andEotetranychus carpini (Oud.), on the eriophyidColomerus vitis (Pgst.) and on pollen ofMesembryanthemum criniflorum. The response ofT. pyri andA. andersoni females to a spider mite supply (P. ulmi orE. carpini) of 4, 8 and 16 adult female prey per female predator per day was also studied.Development ofT. pyri onE. carpini andC. vitis required a shorter period than onM. criniflorum pollen, while intermediate values were recorded forP. ulmi. When the highest number of prey was offered, the influence of different foods on oviposition rates ofT. pyri was not significant. An increase in spider mite supply favoured a shorter pre-oviposition period and higher oviposition rates.Development ofA. andersoni was faster on pollen than on spider mites, while intermediate values were found concerningC. vitis. Differences statistically significant were recorded for development onP. ulmi andC. vitis. Colomerus vitis proved to be the more suitable food in terms of oviposition. The oviposition rate decreased when feeding uponP. ulmi, but reached intermediate values onE. carpini andM. criniflorum. Increasing spider mite densities caused shorter pre-oviposition times and higher oviposition rates. Using a given number ofE. carpini females, rather than those ofP. ulmi, resulted in higher oviposition rates and shorter pre-oviposition times.For both predators, the results suggest a higher intrinsic rate of population increase onE. carpini orC. vitis than onP. ulmi.The research was supported by a grant from Regione Veneto (Lotta biologica ed integrata nel controllo di insetti ed acari dannosi).The general lines of the research have been planned by C. Pollen grains ofParis, Medeola, andScoliopus have been examined with light, scanning electron, and transmission electron microscopies.P. quadrifolia L.,P. verticillata Bieb.,P. delavayi Franch. andP. polyphylla Smith have monosulcate pollen characterized by psilate, foveolate or reticulate exine sculpture. In contrast to the former species,P. japonica (Fr. et Sav.) Franch. andP. tetraphylla A. Gray have monosulcate pollen with gemmate (rarely rugulate) exine.Medeola has monosulcate pollen with reticulate exine that is distinct from that ofParis. Scoliopus has monosulcate pollen characterized by a peculiar reticulate exine pattern. The palynological evidence suggests thatParis andTrillium are closely related to each other, andMedeola andScoliopus should be separated fromParis andTrillium.  相似文献

Mutants ofA. niger K 69/26, prepared by multistep mutagenesis (UV, MNNG, heating) have been screened for pectinase activities. Mutants with altered levels of certain pectinases, such as endo- and exopolygalacturonase (PG vis, red), pectinesterase (PE) and pectinlyase (PL), were isolated. The enzyme activities of the best mutants M 1348/126 were increased 2–3-fold compared to the parent strain after a 6-d cultivation of filamentous mycelium on a shaker. Further mutagenesis of mutants with decreased pectinase activities (e.g. Se3) produced revertants. PG (vis) synthesis of revertant Se5 was increased 1.7 times compared to the control strain K 69/26. Independent of these increased rates, the general level of pectinase activities synthesized by the filamentous mycelium ofA. niger mutants amounts to about 10–20% compared with those produced by aggregated mycelium. It appears that the enzyme synthesis related to mycelium structure is independent of the mechanism which regulates the level of pectinase synthesis within a specific morphological structure.  相似文献
