Twelve strains representing five novel yeast species were isolated from natural samples distributed in mountain areas in Taiwan during 2007 and 2009. Sequence analysis of the D1/D2 domain of the large subunit (LSU) rRNA gene revealed that these species are members of the Cyberlindnera clade. These five new species have a greater than 1% difference from their closest relatives in the sequences of the D1/D2 domain of the LSU rRNA gene and were well separated from their closest relatives in terms of physiological characteristics. Moreover, a sexual state could not be found in these five novel yeast species. Therefore, the scientific names of Candida maesa sp. nov. (type strain GJ8L01T), Candida takata sp. nov. (type strain EN25S01T), Candida taoyuanica sp. nov. (type strain GY15S07T), Candida hungchunana sp. nov. (type strain NC3W71T) and Candida stauntonica sp. nov. (type strain GY13L05T) were proposed to accommodate these yeasts.  相似文献

SUMMARY

Five new Arrenurus spp, from Southern Africa are described: A. amoenus sp. nov. from Natal, A. agnewi sp. nov., A. curtipalpus sp. nov., A. pedatus sp. nov. and A. cavatus sp. nov. from Botswana. The species from Natal came from an older collection belonging to the National Institute for Water Research. The species from Botswana were collected recently by Dr J.D. Agnew1

The water mite fauna of South Africa is only partly known. Therefore it is important that collectors should know that alcohol and formalin are not suitable fixatives. Fixing and storing is most successful in the following mixture: 5 parts glycerin, 2 parts glacial acetic acid and 3 parts water.  相似文献

Strobliella capitata Fedotova is redescribed as Henria capitata (Fedotova, 2004) (comb. nov.). Diagnoses of Henria (= Electroxylomyia Nel et Prokop, syn. nov.), Frirenia, and Leptosyna are revised. As a result, Henria comprises 3 extant and 5 extinct (Late Eocene) species, including H. eocenica (Nel et Prokop), comb. nov. (= Electroxylomyia eocenica), Frirenia comprises 1 extant and 10 Late Eocene species, and Leptosyna comprises 3 extant and 11 Late Eocene species. The tribe Heteropezini is elevated to the supertribal rank (Heteropezidi) and included in the subfamily Lasiopterinae. Leptosynini is treated as a separate tribe, and Lasiopterinae is considered as part of Cecidomyiidae s. str. (i.e., excluding Lestremiidae). Keys to the tribes and genera of Heteropezidi and to species of Henria, Stellasegna, Frirenia, and Leptosyna are provided. The gall midge faunas of the Rovno and Baltic ambers are compared. Phylogenetic relationships within the supertribe are hypothesized.  相似文献

The spider genus Dysdera is a species‐rich clade of specialized woodlice predators, composed typically of complexes of sibling species. Here, we analyse the Dysdera ninnii complex, distinguishing three species that exhibit slight but constant differences in the morphology of their copulatory organs, and in their genetic background. We designate a neotype for D. ninnii and redescribe it. We consider Dysdera pavesii Thorell, 1873 to be a junior synonym of Dysdera ninnii Canestrini, 1868. In addition, we describe two new species ( D ysdera moravica sp. nov. and D ysdera microdonta sp. nov. ). All three species occur in the region of north‐eastern Italy, Slovenia, and north‐western Croatia. D ysdera moravica sp. nov. expanded to central Europe. The species occur allopatrically or parapatrically. All three species possess the same diploid number and X0 sex chromosome determination. In some individuals we found chromosome fusions, and such polymorphism is common in spiders with holokinetic chromosomes. The analysis of mitochondrial (cytochrome c oxidase subunit I, COI) and nuclear ribosomal (internal transcribed spacer 2, ITS2) DNA markers revealed two clades, one formed by D. ninnii and D . microdonta sp. nov. , and a second by D . moravica sp. nov. Species of the first clade are not well defined by DNA markers. We noticed only weak separation of maternally inherited COI, and even overlap of autosomally inherited ITS2 sequences. We suggest that either short speciation time, unfinished lineage sorting, or rare hybridization events caused this pattern. In one sample of D . microdonta sp. nov. we detected the coxA gene of a Rickettsia species, which is the first record of this parasitic bacteria from the spider family Dysderidae. D ysdera microdonta sp. nov. occurs at higher altitudes than D. ninnii, and their distribution ranges form a long contact zone. Remarkably, we did not record any overlap of the two distribution ranges, suggesting that the lack of a precopulatory interspecific barrier causes a loss of reproduction potential. We hypothesize that because of the unsolved interspecific barrier together with only tiny differences in morphology and COI sequences, and no differences in karyotypes and ITS2 sequences, the D. ninnii species complex is evolutionarily young. © 2014 The Linnean Society of London  相似文献

Abstract: A rich, diverse Permian ostracod fauna has been recovered from the red and grey, laminated shales and quartz‐rich shales of the Triassic Lercara Formation. Forty‐seven species have been identified, 13 of which are newly described here; they belong to 26 genera of which three are new: Anahuacia lercaraensis sp. nov., Aurigerites siciliaensis sp. nov., Bairdia portellaensis sp. nov., Cristanaria? katyae sp. nov., Fabalicypris gruendeli sp. nov., Lethiersa salomonensis gen. et sp. nov., Lethiersia sinusoventralis gen. et sp. nov., Portella trapezoida gen. et sp. nov., Siciliella elongata gen. et sp. nov., Siciliella infernespinosa gen. et sp. nov., Siciliella prima gen. et sp. nov., Siciliella quadrata gen. et sp. nov., and Siciliella spinorobusta gen. et sp. nov. The assemblages contain or are composed of palaeopsychrospheric forms, which are regarded as index fossils for deep environments. The bathymetry of the different associations in life is evaluated.  相似文献

Two strains of xylose-containing and Q-10-having ballistoconidiogenous yeasts isolated from plant leaves collected in Taiwan were found to represent two new species of the genus Bullera. In the phylogenetic trees based on the sequence analysis of 18S rDNA and D1/D2 domain of 26S rDNA, these species are located in the Bullera variabilis (Bulleribasidum) cluster in Hymenomycetes. They are described as Bullera begoniae sp. nov. and Bullera setariae sp. nov., respectively.  相似文献

Doxomysis algoaensis sp.nov. is described from Algoa Bay, South Africa where it is common in nearshore marine waters just beyond the breaker line. D. algoaensis sp.nov. is morphologically similar to D. australiensis, but can readily be distinguished by the shape and armature of the telson and the length of the exopod of the fourth male pleopod. The apical cleft is one fifth the telson length in the former species and one third the length in D. australiensis. The telson apex on each side of the cleft is also armed with five and four stout spines in the two species, respectively. In D. australiensis, the exopod of the fourth male pleopod is almost three times the length of the endopod; in D. algoaensis sp.nov., the exopod is only slightly longer than the endopod. Other distinctive features of D. algoaensis sp.nov. include the maxillary palp, which is only slightly broader than long and the greater number of spines on the endopod of the uropod.  相似文献
