Physical exercises (PE) constitute the most important part of the Russian countermeasure system which is proved to be highly successful in fighting negative effects of weightlessness on the physiological systems of the body. To control the intensity and volume of the workload and also specific features of the regimens used by cosmonauts during SF there were provided monthly 3-days recordings of cosmonaut training sessions with the subsequent downlinking of the obtained information to the ground control center. Additionally once a month cosmonauts performed a fitness test that was composed of 11 minutes of locomotion on the passive treadmill including slow, middle range and maximal running. The results of 3-days recordings and fitness test allowed to evaluate correctly effectiveness of PE protocols used by cosmonauts and to form recommendations for their corrections. The effectiveness of the onboard exercise program after SF was evaluated based on results of detailed studies of alterations that were recorded in different parts of sensory-motor system.  相似文献

For general points of fixation the space horopter has been found to be a twisted cubic curve, which, when fixation is in the median plane, degenerates into a conic curve inclined to the plane of fixation. The inclination of the plane of this conic is found to be a function of the angles of torsion of the two eyes. If these angles are zero and fixation is horizontal the space horopter reduces to the Vieth-Müller circle. Previous experimental techniques for plotting the horopter curve do not in fact determine the locus in space of those points that will stimulate corresponding points in the two retinae: they are, locate the position of certain chords of the space horopter. The Hering-Hillebrand deviation coefficient is found theoretically to be a linear function of the fixation distance. This had been shown experimentally by previous workers, but without any satisfactory explanation.  相似文献

Perivascular space (PVS) within the brain is an important pathway for interstitial fluid (ISF) and solute transport. Fluid flowing in the PVS can affect these transport processes and has significant impacts on physiology. In this paper, we carry out a theoretical analysis to investigate the fluid mechanics in the PVS. With certain assumptions and approximations, we are able to find an analytical solution to the problem. We discuss the physical meanings of the solution and particularly examine the consequences of the induced fluid flow in the context of convection-enhanced delivery (CED). We conclude that peristaltic motions of the blood vessel walls can facilitate fluid and solute transport in the PVS.  相似文献

We have used GRATH, a graph-based structure comparison algorithm, to map the similarities between the different folds observed in the CATH domain structure database. Statistical analysis of the distributions of the fold similarities has allowed us to assess the significance for any similarity. Therefore we have examined whether it is best to represent folds as discrete entities or whether, in fact, a more accurate model would be a continuum wherein folds overlap via common motifs. To do this we have introduced a new statistical measure of fold similarity, termed gregariousness. For a particular fold, gregariousness measures how many other folds have a significant structural overlap with that fold, typically comprising 40% or more of the larger structure. Gregarious folds often contain commonly occurring super-secondary structural motifs, such as beta-meanders, greek keys, alpha-beta plait motifs or alpha-hairpins, which are matching similar motifs in other folds. Apart from one example, all the most gregarious folds matching 20% or more of the other folds in the database, are alpha-beta proteins. They also occur in highly populated architectural regions of fold space, adopting sandwich-like arrangements containing two or more layers of alpha-helices and beta-strands.Domains that exhibit a low gregariousness, are those that have very distinctive folds, with few common motifs or motifs that are packed in unusual arrangements. Most of the superhelices exhibit low gregariousness despite containing some commonly occurring super-secondary structural motifs. In these folds, these common motifs are combined in an unusual way and represent a small proportion of the fold (<10%). Our results suggest that fold space may be considered as continuous for some architectural arrangements (e.g. alpha-beta sandwiches), in that super-secondary motifs can be used to link neighbouring fold groups. However, in other regions of fold space much more discrete topologies are observed with little similarity between folds.  相似文献

The horopter--the locus of those points in space that would stimulate corresponding points on the retinae of the two eyes--has been previously considered to be a plane curve lying in the horizontal plane. The two-dimensional character of this curve arises as a consequence of limiting all considerations to two dimensions only. However, by considering the retina as a two-dimensional surface in 3-space, geometric analysis reveals the horopter to be a non-planar curve: a twisted cubic curve in space. The classical horopter experiments can then be seen to be plotting self-corresponding lines rather than self-corresponding points, and these lines are found to be the chords of this cubic curve. The equations determining the horopter curve in parametric form have been found expressing each point of the curve as a function of the coordinates of the point of fixation.  相似文献

The simulation of dispersal processes in landscapes over large spatial extents is challenging because of the large difference in geographical scale between overwhelmingly dominant localised dispersal events, and rare long-distance dispersal events which typically drive overall rates of spread. While localised dispersal may point to high resolution individual level models, long-distance dispersal events are likely to involve much coarser grid-based models. In this paper we propose a discrete space (i.e., grid-based) model for dispersal processes in continuous space. We start by illustrating the behaviour of continuous space walks when their movement is discretised to a grid. The importance of short time period cell-to-cell moves which return a walk to its previous grid cell location is identified. A conceptual model which uses a Markov chain buffer phase between cells to replicate the observed behaviour of discretised continuous space walks is proposed. Analysis of the Markov chain shows that it can be parameterised using just two parameters in addition to the dispersal kernel. An algorithm for implementation of the proposed model is presented. Empirical results demonstrate that the proposed mechanism produces good matches to continuous space dispersal processes with both exponential and heavy-tailed dispersal kernels.  相似文献
