The decrease in the rate of lipid peroxidation and the increase in te fluorescence of chlortetracycline, bound with calcium ions absorbed on membrane surface after exposure thereof to decimeter waves, were revealed in myocardium cell membranes. Opposite changes were observed after the effect of p- chlormercuribenzoate . The effect of decimeter waves compensated the p- chlormercuribenzoate -induced changes.  相似文献

The functional state of myocardial mitochondria, the glycogen and nucleic acid contents in myocardium, and morphometry of structural elements of cardiomyocytes and myocardial capillary network were investigated in order to select the optimal regimen of decimeter wave exposures with power density of 10, 120 and 240 mW/cm2 on the area of thyroid gland. It was shown that the thyroid gland exposure to decimeter waves at these intensities resulted in functional shifts in energy and plastic processes in myocardium and capillary blood supply. These changes increased to a considerable extent as the intensity of exposure was increasing and reached the maximum at power density of 240 mW/cm2 but event at this intensity there was not found the injurious effect of decimeter waves on the myocardium.  相似文献

The photosynthetic and respiratory performance of developing internodes of Populus tremuloides was evaluated by infrared gas analysis. Anatomical and morphological transitions were related to metabolic activity. Photosynthetic rates ranged from 6.0 to 10.0 milligrams CO2 per decimeter squared per hour in the youngest internodes to 2.5 to 3.8 milligrams CO2 per decimeter squared per hour in internodes with fully developed bark tissues. Respiration exceeded the rate of photosynthesis on the average by a factor of two. Stem photosynthesis increased with temperature up to 40°C and declined steeply between 40 and 50°C. Stem respiration increased nearly linearly to temperatures as high as 50°C.  相似文献

Diurnal variation in algal nitrogen fixation was studied in Lake Mendota, Wisconsin, during the summers of 1971 to 1973. Approximately two-thirds of the daily acetylene reduction in the surface decimeter occurred before noon. The decline in acetylene reduction (nmoles/liter·hr) near midday was partially because the algae relocated themselves at greater depths. However, acetylene reducing activity (nmoles per A663 unit chlorophyll a per hour) also decreased as midday approached. Occasionally algae would resurface near the end of the day. On average, acetylene reduction (nmoles per liter per hour) was maximum at about 0900 Central standard time in the top decimeter, and acetylene reduction between 0830 and 0930 Central standard time represented 13% of the total daily acetylene reduction. Furthermore, acetylene reduction in the top decimeter, on average, represented 3.6% of the total acetylene reduction in the column. Calculation of the contribution by nitrogen fixation to a lake's fixed nitrogen budget is discussed.  相似文献

The effects of temperature and photosynthetically active radiation levels on photorespiration were investigated in Panicum milioides Nees ex Trin. and Panicum schenckii Hack., species known to have low photorespiration rates and other characteristics intermediate between C3 and C4 species. Comparisons were made with the C3 grass species tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea Schreb.). An increase in temperature from 20 to 35 C raised photorespiration from 7.3 to 10.2 milligrams per square decimeter per hour in tall fescue, but the increase in P. schenckii was less than 1 milligram per square decimeter per hour. Increases in temperature caused much less change in CO2 compensation concentration in P. milioides and P. schenckii than in tall fescue, values of 160 microliters per liter being obtained in tall fescue at 40 C compared to about 40 microliters per liter for P. milioides and P. schenckii. Photorespiration in P. schenckii increased by only about 1 milligram CO2 per square decimeter per hour as the photosynthetically active radiation level was raised from 100 to 2,000 microEinsteins per square meter per second. Loss of CO2 into CO2-free air actually decreased from 2.2 to 1.0 milligrams per square decimeter per hour as the radiation level was raised from 100 to 1,100 microEinsteins per square meter per second but tended to rise again at 2,000 microEinsteins per square meter per second. In contrast, photorespiration in tall fescue tripled with radiation level over the same range, reaching a maximum value of 7.2 milligrams per square decimeter per hour as determined by extrapolation of the CO2 response curves to zero CO2. The CO2 compensation concentration in tall fescue was nearly insensitive to photosynthetically active radiation above 140 microEinsteins per square meter per second but, in P. milioides and P. schenckii, it decreased from values of 69 and 62 microliters per liter, respectively, to values of 21 and 16 as the radiation level was increased from 50 to 1075 microEinsteins per square meter per second. Interpolation of CO2-response curves showed that an increase in photosynthetically active radiation level from 100 to 2,000 microEinsteins per square meter per second reduced the CO2 compensation value of P. schenckii from 38 to 19 microliters per liter. Data from these experiments indicate reduced photorespiration or a CO2-recycling mechanism in P. milioides and P. schenckii which causes apparent photorespiration to be nearly insensitive to temperature in the 20 to 35 C range and to decrease at high radiation intensities.  相似文献

Temperature during growth had a strong influence on light-saturated rates of photosynthesis and respiration in rye (Secale cereale). Carbon dioxide uptake was depressed at the low temperatures and reached maximal values higher than 30 milligrams of carbon dioxide per square decimeter per hour at the intermediate temperatures. Respiration rates increased substantially while growth temperature decreased. Simazine treatment (0.00, 0.03, 0.08, 0.12 milligrams per liter) resulted in no significant stimulatory or inhibitory effects at low temperatures, but progressively inhibited growth and photosynthesis at the higher temperatures. Respiration rates were not significantly influenced. Thus, the effect of simazine is strongly temperature-dependent and is more pronounced on photosynthesis than respiration.  相似文献

Liquidambar styraciflua L. seedlings and tissue-cultured plantlets were grown under high, medium, or low (315, 155, or 50 microeinsteins per square meter per second photosynthetically active radiation) quantum flux densities. Net photosynthesis, chlorophyll content, and chloroplast ultrastructure of leaves differentiated from these conditions were investigated. Seedling photosynthetic rates at light saturation were positively related to light pretreatments, being 6.44, 4.73, and 2.75 milligrams CO2 per square decimeter per hour for high, medium, and low light, respectively. Cultured plantlets under all light conditions had appreciably higher photosynthetic rates than noncultured seedlings; corresponding rates were 12.14, 13.55, and 11.36 milligrams CO2 per square decimeter per hour. Chlorophyll in seedlings and plantlets was significantly higher in low light-treated plants. Seedling leaves had chloroplasts with abundant starch regardless of light pretreatment. In high light, starch granules were predominant and associated with disrupted granal structure. Low light seedling chloroplasts had smaller starch grains and well-formed grana. In contrast, tissue culture-differentiated leaves were devoid of starch; grana were well organized in higher quantum flux density treatments, but disorganized at low flux densities.  相似文献

In this work the possibility of using microwaves (MW) for immuno-modulation in the immunization of animals with thymus-independent antigen was studied. The projection zones of the thyroid and adrenal glands of the test animals were subjected to the action of decimeter MW, while the corresponding zones of control animals were subjected to imitation MW. The endocrine activity of rabbits was estimated by radioim-mune methods. Vi-antigen was shown to be a thymus-independent antigen for rabbits, according to the results of fluorescent probes to study the structural rearrangements in surfaces of thymocyte membranes and their nuclei, which reflect early changes during the physiological activation of cells. The irradiation by MW on the projection zone of the thyroid was accompanied by a decrease in the glucocorticoid activity of the adrenal cortex and a simultaneous pronounced immunostimulating effect. MW irradiation of the zone of the adrenal glands was accompanied by immunosuppression in combination with enhanced glucocorticoid activity of the adrenal cortex.  相似文献

Recalculations of soybean photorespiration indicate that mean rates are closer to 16.1 than 5.6 milligrams of CO2 per square decimeter per hour as previously reported. Photorespiration of soybean thus amounts to at least a 30% carbon turnover of light-saturated photosynthesis. Photorespiration showed no significant relationship to net photosynthesis. Negative correlations were found between CO2 efflux and stomatal resistance as well as between corrected photorespiration and residual intracellular resistance of the leaf to CO2 uptake.  相似文献

Gold nanobelts are of interest in several areas; however, there are only few methods available to produce these belts. We report here on a simple evaporation induced self-assembly (EISA) method to produce porous gold nanobelts with dimensions that scale across nanometer (thickness ~80 nm) and micrometer (width ~20 μm), to decimeter (length ~0.15 m). The gold nanobelts are well packed on the beaker wall and can be easily made to float on the surface of the solution for depositing onto other substrates. Microscopy showed that gold nanobelts had a different structure on the two sides of the belt; the density of gold nanowires on one side was greater than on the other side. Electrical measurements showed that these nanobelts were sensitive to compressive or tensile forces, indicating a potential use as a strain sensor. The patterned nanobelts were further used as a template to grow ZnO nanowires for potential use in applications such as piezo-electronics.  相似文献

Nodulated and non-nodulated (not inoculated) soybeans (Glycine max [L.] Merr. cv Wells) were grown in controlled environments with N2 or nonlimiting levels of NO3, respectively, serving as sole source of nitrogen. The efficiency of the N2-fixing plants was compared with that of the nitrate-supplied plants on the basis of both plant age and plant size. Efficiency evaluations of the plants were expressed as the ratio of moles of carbon respired by the whole plant to the moles of nitrogen incorporated into plant material.

Continuous 24-hour CO2 exchange measurements on shoot and root systems made at the beginning of flowering (28 days after planting) indicated that N2-fixing plants respired 8.28 moles of carbon per mole of N, fixed from dinitrogen, while nitrate-supplied plants respired only 4.99 moles of carbon per mole of nitrate reduced. Twenty-one-day-old nitrate-supplied plants were even more efficient, respiring only 3.18 moles of carbon per mole of nitrate reduced. The decreased efficiency of the N2-fixing plants was not due to plant size since, on a dry weight basis, the 28-day-old N2-fixing plants were intermediate between the 28- and 21-day-old nitrate-supplied plants.

The calculated efficiencies were predominantly a reflection of root-system respiration. N2-fixing plants lost 25% of their daily net photosynthetic input of carbon through root-system respiration, compared with 16% for 28-day-old nitrate-supplied plants and 12% for 21-day-old nitrate-supplied plants. Shoot dark respiration was similar for all three plant groups, varying between 7.9% and 9.0% of the apparent photosynthate.

The increased respiratory loss by the roots of the N2-fixing plants was not compensated for by increased net photosynthetic effectiveness. Canopy photosynthesis expressed on a leaf area basis was similar for 28-day-old N2-fixing plants (15.5 milligrams CO2 square decimeter per hour) and 21-day-old nitrate-supplied plants (14.5 milligrams CO2 square decimeter per hour). Both were similar in total canopy leaf area. The larger nitrate-supplied plants (28-day-old) had lower photosynthetic rates (12.5 milligrams CO2 square decimeter per hour), presumably due to self-shading of the leaves.

These data indicate that, during the early stages of plant development, dependence solely on N2-fixation is an expensive process compared to nitrate reduction in nitrate-supplied plants, since the N2-fixing plants retained 8% to 12% less of their photosynthate as dry matter.

In this work the possibility of using microwaves for immunomodulation in the immunization of animals with thymus-independent antigen was studied. The projection zones of the thymus and adrenal glands of the test animals were subjected to the action of decimeter, or ultrahigh frequency (UHF), waves, while the corresponding zones of the control animals were subjected to imitation UHF irradiation. Vi-antigen was shown to be a thymus-independent antigen for rabbits (according to the results of the evaluation of the functional state of thymocytes, as manifested by the adsorption of acridine orange by the chromatin of thymocyte nuclei and by the content of RNA and DNA in the thymus). The action of UHF waves on the projection zone of the thymus was accompanied by a decrease in the glucocorticoid activity of the adrenal cortex, observed simultaneously with a pronounced immunostimulating effect. The UHF irradiation of the zone of the adrenal glands was accompanied by immunosuppression in combination with enhanced glucocorticoid activity of the adrenal cortex.  相似文献

The contribution of nitrogen fixation to the nitrogen budget of Lake Mendota has been calculated. On average, the equivalent of 1.28 × 105 kg of NH3 (as determined by the acetylene reduction technique) was added to this eutrophic lake during June, July and August. Diurnal variation (approximately two-thirds of the day's fixation occurs prior to noon) in algal nitrogen fixation, and variation of fixation with depth (3.6% of the fixation in the column occurs in the top decimeter) were characterized as prerequisites to this calculation.  相似文献

Diurnal changes in photosynthetic parameters and enzyme activities were characterized in greenhouse grown maize plants (Zea mays L. cv Pioneer 3184). Rates of net photosynthesis and assimilate export were highest at midday, coincident with maximum irradiance. During the day, assimilate export accounted for about 80% of net carbon fixation, and the maximum export rate (35 milligrams CH2O per square decimeter per hour) was substantially higher than the relatively constant rate maintained through the night (5 milligrams CH2O per square decimeter per hour). Activities of sucrose phosphate synthase and NADP-malate dehydrogenase showed pronounced diurnal fluctuations; maximum enzyme activities were generally coincident with highest light intensity. Reciprocal light/dark transfers of plants throughout the diurnal cycle revealed that both enzymes were deactivated by 30 minutes of darkness during the day, and they could both be substantially activated by 30 minutes of illumination at night. During 24 hours of extended darkness, sucrose phosphate synthase activity declined progressively to an almost undetectable level, but was activated after 1.5 hours of illumination. Thus, the diurnal fluctuation in maize sucrose phosphate synthase can be explained by some form of light modulation of enzyme activity and is not due to an endogenous rhythm in activity. No diurnal fluctuations were observed in the activities of NADP-malic enzyme or fructose 6-phosphate-2-kinase. Phosphoenolpyruvate carboxylase was activated by light to some extent (about 50%) when activity was measured under suboptimal conditions in vitro. The results suggested that the rates of sucrose formation and assimilate export were closely aligned with the rate of carbon fixation and the activation state of sucrose phosphate synthase.  相似文献

The distribution of lithorheophil macrobenthos was studied in the range of scales from decimeter (regions in the scope of one stone) up to seven kilometers on the basis of 153 quantitative samples from oligosaprobic stream in Moscow region. Community shows significant spatial heterogeneity even at the small scale: life forms inhabit different sides of each stone and different sites of the riffle depending on current. At the scale of tens and hundreds of meters (between different riffles, within one stream) spatial heterogeneity of benthos is low, distribution of common species is independent from each other and riffs are similar by community structure. At the scope of kilometers heterogeneity increase and the alterations of community appear due to changes in stream size. Seasonal differences of benthos distribution are mentioned. The impact of various environmental factors on the distribution of lithorheophile macrobenthos is discussed.  相似文献

Photosynthetic and growth properties of Solanum dulcamara L. were studied under controlled environments. The 200 experimentally tested plants were clonal replicates of five field-collected individuals, three from fully exposed habitats and two from deeply shaded habitats. After 4 weeks of growth in one of eight environmental treatments, each plant was measured for leaf adaxial and abaxial conductance to water vapor, specific leaf weight, chlorophyll per square decimeter of leaf, photosynthetic unit size, light-saturated photosynthetic rate, total leaf area, and total leaf, stem, and root dry weights. Changes in light level influenced photosynthesis and growth of each plant more than changes in water availability or temperature. It is strongly suggested that the primary adaptive response of the tested individuals to changes in levels of light involves the regulation of leaf thickness.  相似文献

In order to study the mechanism of B-cell differentiation using B lymphoid tumor cells as models, we investigated the effects of antigen-nonspecific T-cell factors in combination with lipopolysaccharide (LPS) on the expression of surface markers on B lymphoid cell lines. This study demonstrated that culture supernatant from concanavalin A-activated spleen cells (CAS) gave 2- to 3.5-fold enhancement of the expression of Ia antigens. The effect of CAS was dose dependent and as little as 2% CAS gave maximum enhancement of Ia antigen expression. The CAS effect was due to concanavalin A-activated cell products and was not due to the concanavalin A. The effects of allogeneic effect factor (AEF) on Ia antigens were similar to those of CAS. In contrast to CAS and AEF, LPS did not affect the expression of Ia antigens on ×16C 8.5. LPS enhanced 1.5- to 3-fold the expression of sIgM on this cell line. The expression of sIgM was minimally affected by T-cell factors; CAS induced 20 to 70% enhancement of sIgM expression while AEF induced no significant effects. This study showed that antigen-nonspecific factors (CAS and AEF) influenced mainly Ia expression on the B-cell lymphoma, ×16C 8.5, while LPS selectively affected sIgM expression. Therefore, it was concluded that the mechanisms by which B cells are activated by T-cell factors and mitogens are different.  相似文献

本文研究了碱性成纤维细胞生长因子(basic fibroblast growth factor, bFGF)对小鼠脑微血管内皮细胞(microvascular endothelial cell, MVEC)株bEnd.3中血管新生相关基因表达谱的改变,并重点从mRNA、蛋白质和细胞水平检测bFGF对血管新生旁观分子环加氧酶-2(cyclooxygenase-2,COX-2)表达的影响。用特异性小鼠血管新生基因芯片高通量检测bEnd.3细胞基因谱表达的改变,分析促血管新生基因及抑制血管新生的基因表达谱的变化;用RT—PCR、Western blot、免疫细胞化学等方法分别从mRNA、蛋白质和细胞水平检测COX-2表达变化及细胞内的定位。结果发现用10ng/ml的bFGF刺激bEnd.3细胞2h后多种促血管新生基因表达明显上调,如Adamtsl、MMP-9、Ang-1、PDGFB、G—CSF、FGFl6、IGF-1等分别上调3、8、120、5.2、4.5、1.7、2.7倍。与此同时,多种抑制血管新生的基因表达相应下调,如TSP-3、TIMP-2、TGFβ1等表达分别下调3.4、1.5和3.5倍。RT-PCR和Western blot的结果证实,bFGF可以上调COX-2mRNA的表达和蛋白质的合成。免疫组化的结果表明,COX-2主要分布在胞浆。以上结果提示:bFGF具有上调促血管新生基因表达,下调抑制血管新生基因表达的作用,两者协同作用,促进血管新生。同时bFGF还可以明显促进血管新生旁观分子COX-2mRNA的表达和蛋白质的合成。本文讨论了bFGF引起MVEC内COX-2表达上调的意义。  相似文献

Propylthiouracil (PTU) is a thioamide drug used clinically to inhibit thyroid hormone production. However, PTU is associated with some side effects in different organs. In the present study, the acute and direct effects of PTU on testosterone production in rat Leydig cells were investigated. Leydig cells were isolated from rat testes, and an investigation was performed on the effects of PTU on basal and evoked-testosterone release, the functions of steroidogenic enzymes, including protein expression of cytochrome P450 side-chain cleavage enzyme (P450(scc)) and mRNA expression of the steroidogenic acute regulatory protein (StAR). Rat Leydig cells were challenged with hCG, forskolin, and 8-bromo-cAMP to stimulate testosterone release. PTU inhibited both basal and evoked-testosterone release. To study the effects of PTU on steroidogenesis, steroidogenic precursor-stimulated testosterone release was examined. PTU inhibited pregnenolone production (i.e., it diminished the function of P450(scc) in Leydig cells). In addition to inhibiting hormone secretion, PTU also regulated steroidogenesis by diminishing mRNA expression of StAR. These results suggest that PTU acts directly on rat Leydig cells to diminish testosterone production by inhibiting P450(scc) function and StAR expression.  相似文献

E710.2.3 is a murine thymic lymphoma cell line with an immature phenotype (CD4-CD8-) that proliferates in response to thymocytes or PMA when cultured at low density and proliferates spontaneously when grown at high density. To identify functional molecules on this cell line, we screened for mAbs that could block its proliferation. A hamster mAb, DMF10.62.3, inhibited the spontaneous, thymocyte-induced, and PMA-stimulated proliferation of E710.2.3 in vitro and induced these cells to undergo apoptosis. The mAb also caused homotypic aggregation of E710.2.3, which was inhibited by cytochalasin B, trifluoperazine, a combination of sodium azide and 2-deoxyglucose, EDTA, incubation at 4 degrees C, or treatment with paraformaldehyde. The DMF10 62.3 mAb stained a number of immortalized murine and human cell lines and, where tested, blocked their proliferation and caused death to varying extents by apoptosis. The molecule recognized by the mAb DMF10.62.3 was expressed on day 14 fetal thymus Thy1.2-positive cells. However, it was not detected on adult murine thymocytes, splenocytes, or bone marrow cells or on splenic LPS-activated B cells or Con A-activated T cells. The Ab immunoprecipitated a 40-kDa molecule from E710.2.3 that was not glycosylphosphatidylinositol linked. The data suggest that the molecule recognized by DMF62.3 is a novel cell surface molecule that may be involved in cell proliferation and/or cell death.  相似文献
