Interaction between l-arabinose and the zinc group metal-ion salts has been studied in aqueous solution and solid complexes of the type M(l-arabinose)X2·nH2O, where M = Zn(II), Cd(II), and Hg(II) ions, X = Cl or Br, and n = 0–2 have been isolated and characterized. On comparison with the structurally known Ca(l-arabinose) Cl2·4H2O and the corresponding magnesium compounds, it is concluded that the Zn(II) and Cd(II) ions are six-coordinated, binding to two arabinose moieties via 03, 04 of the first and 01, 05 of the second sugar molecule as well as to two H2O molecules. The Hg(II) ion binds only to two sugar molecules in a similar fashion to zinc and cadmium ions, resulting in a four coordination around the mercury ion. The strong intermolecular hydrogen bonding network of the free arabinose is rearranged to that of the sugar OH...H2O...halide system upon metalation. The β-anomer sugar conformation is predominant in the free sugar, while the α-anomer conformation is preferred by the alkaline earth and Zn(II), Cd(II), and Hg(II) cations.  相似文献

The complexes M(DHDC)2, CH3Hg(DHDC), and C6H5Hg(DHDC) (M = Zn, Cd, Hg; DHDC = N,N-di(2-hydroxyethyl)dithiocarbamate) were prepared and investigated in solution and in the solid state by using 1H and 13C NMR, ir, and Raman spectroscopy. The dithiocarbamate group is anisobidentate and the complexes are associated in solution and the solid state via hydrogen bonding. The possible relation of these structural properties to the behavior of DHDC in the treatment of cadmium poisoning is discussed.  相似文献

Metal ion (Mg(II), Ca(II), Zn(II), Cu(II), Ni(II)) complexes of nystatin and amphotericin B (polyene antibiotics) have been prepared as solids. The stoichiometry of the complexes has been established. IR, ESR investigation indicates the metal-ligating sites in the polyene molecules. The existence of such complexes is discussed in the light of polyene mode- of-action theories.  相似文献

Complexes of formula M(2,5-DHB)24H2O (M = Mn, Co, Ni, Zn, Cu and Cd; 2,5-DHB = 2,5-dihydroxybenzoate) were prepared and characterized by means of infrared and electronic spectroscopy, and by electron spin resonance. For the Zn complex the crystal and molecular structure was also determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The crystal is orthorhombic, space group Pbca (No. 61), with a = 18.503(4), b = 13.536(3), c = 6.900(2) Å, and Z = 4. The final refinement used 877 reflections and gave a residual R value of 0.041. The complex has slightly compressed octahedral coordination, with the zinc atom bound to two monodentate carboxylate groups lying in trans positions and four water molecules. X-ray data and infrared spectra show the Mn, Co, Ni, Zn and Cd complexes to be isostructural with the Zn compound. The electronic, infrared and ESR spectra of the copper(II) complex are consistent with a CuO4? based chromophore involving two water molecules and two monodentate carboxylate groups in the metal plane, and long axial contacts.  相似文献

Interaction between D-glucuronic acid and alkaline earth metal ions leads to the formation of the complexes such as M(D-glucuronate)X· nH2O and M(D-glucuronate)2 · nH2O, where M = Mg(II), Sr(II), and Ba(II), X = Cl? or Br?, and n = 2–4. Owing to the distinct spectral similarities with the structurally known Ca(D-gluguronate)Br · 3H2O compound, the metal cations bind to three sugar moieties (through O6, O5 of the first, O6', O4 of the second, and O1, O2 of the third residue) and to two H2O molecules, forming an eight-coordination geometry around each metal ion, in M(D-glucuronate)X · nH2O (except for Mg(II) ion, which is six-coordination). The metal ions in M(D-glucuronate)2-nH2O show six-coordination in different structural environments. The strong hydrogen bonding network of the free acid is weakened upon metalation and the sugar moiety crystallizes as α-anomer, in these series of metal-sugar complexes.  相似文献

Synthesis, structure and spectroscopic characterization of 2-thiophenealdehyde-N(4)-napthylthiosemicarbazone and its complexes with biologically important Zn(II) and toxic Hg(II) metal ions have been reported. The crystal structure of the complexes reveals that both are distorted tetrahedral. In the Hg(II) complex the ligand is neutral and mondented where as in Zn(II) complex the ligand is bidented and anionic. Whereas conductivity measurement study shows both the complexes are molecular species. The beautiful changes in absorption spectra along with isosbestic points upon addition of respective metal salts to the ligand solution convincingly support the formation of metal complexes in solution phase. The other spectroscopic studies also show good correlation with their solid state structures.  相似文献

The complexes of Fe(II), Cd(II) and Zn(II) with Schiff base derived from 2-amino-3-hydroxypyridine and 3-methoxysalicylaldehyde have been prepared. Melting points, decomposition temperatures, Elemental analyses, TGA, conductance measurements, infrared (IR) and UV–Visible spectrophotometric studies were utilized in characterizing the compounds. The UV–Visible spectrophotometric analysis revealed 1:1 (metal-ligand) stoichiometry for the three complexes. In addition to, the prepared complexes have been used as precursors for preparing their corresponding metal oxides nanoparticles via thermal decomposition. The structures of the nano-sized complexes and their metal oxides were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction and transmittance electron microscopy. Moreover, the prepared Schiff base ligand, its complexes and their corresponding nano-sized metal oxides have been screened in vitro for their antibacterial activity against three bacteria, gram-positive (Microccus luteus) and gram-negative (Escherichia coli, Serratia marcescence) and three strains of fungus. The metal chelates were shown to possess more antimicrobial activity than the free Schiff-base chelate and their nano-sized metal oxides have the highest activity. The binding behaviors of the complexes to calf thymus DNA have been investigated by absorption spectra, viscosity mensuration and gel electrophoresis. The DNA binding constants reveal that all these complexes interact with DNA through intercalative binding mode. Furthermore, the cytotoxic activity of the prepared Schiff base complexes on human colon carcinoma cells, (HCT-116 cell line) and hepatic cellular carcinoma cells, (HepG-2) showed potent cytotoxicity effect against growth of carcinoma cells compared to the clinically used Vinblastine standard.  相似文献

Polyene complexes with Mg(II), Ca(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) have been prepared and evaluated for biological activity in a flow microcalorimetric study. The bioactivities are all lower per g of complex than is the bioactivity of the patent polyene, nystatin. However extrapolation of the linear bioassay data suggests that because of enhanced solubilities the metal ion complexes may be able to yield higher overall bioactivity than can nystatin alone.  相似文献

Luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone (LHRH), a hypothalamic neurohormone, forms a complex with Zn ions in solution. In order to explain the structure of this complex, the stability constants of Zn(II) complexes of LHRH and also pyroglutamyl-histidine-methylester, N-acetyl-histamine, and N-acetyl-histidine were established with the use of potentiometric technique. The nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy shows that the mode of coordination of Zn(II) to LHRH consists of binding to the imidazole nitrogen and the peptide oxygen of the His-Trp bond.  相似文献

The interactions of adenosine 5'-diphosphate (ADP) with some polyamines (PA) (1,3-diaminopropane (tn), 1,4-diaminobutane (Put), 1,7-diamino-4-azaheptane (3,3-tri) and 1,8-diamino-4-azaoctane (Spd)) both in presence and in the absence of metal ions (Cu(II), Cd(II) and Hg(II)) have been studied. In the metal-free systems the formation of adducts (ADP)Hx(PA) has been observed, in which the main reaction centres are the endocyclic nitrogen atoms of the purine ring, the phosphate group of the nucleotide and the protonated nitrogen atoms of the polyamine. The effectiveness of the phosphate group in formation of adducts has been found to decrease in the series Put > Spd > Spm and to be lower than in the reactions with shorter homologues of biogenic amines. In the ternary systems with metal ions the formation of molecular complexes (ML L' type) has been evidenced in which the protonated polyamine interacts with the nitrogen atoms N(1) or N(7) of the purine ring of the nucleotide. In the ternary systems Cu(II)/ADP/polyamine the coordination dichotomy observed in the binary system Cu(II)/ADP disappears. In the systems with Hg(II) ions the pH range of the dichotomy is extended, while for the systems Cd(II)/ADP/polyamine no changes of the range relative to the binary system Cd(II)/ADP have been noted.  相似文献

There have been no detailed and reliable studies on the environment and configuration of Zn(II), Cd(II) and Hg(II) in the metal centers of human serum albumin and bovine serum albumin to date. In this paper the authentic evidence for the involvement of the cystinyl sulfur atoms in the ligation to the zinc group ions has been obtained from the X-ray photoelectron spectra. The belief that each of the zinc group ions possesses several similar binding sites in human- and bovine serum albumin and is bound to the deprotonated thiol group (-RS-) of the cysteinyl residues to form tetrahedral and linear metal centers has been further confirmed by the treatment of ligand to metal charge transfer data with Jorgensen's method. According to these results, we have inferred that these binding sites may be located at the seventeen disulfide bridges, most likely at the seven pairs of adjacent disulfide bridges between positions 75 and 567, in the serum albumins.  相似文献

5-Fluoroorotic acid (H(3)FOro) is a potent inhibitor for some metalloproteins such as dihydroorotase and dihydroorotate dehydrogenase and for thymidylate synthase (nonmetalloprotein) in the human malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum. To study the coordination chemistry of H(3)Foro, the ammonium salt [NH(4)(+)][H(2)FOro(-)].1H(2)O (1) and the first coordination compounds of H(3)FOro with transition metals [Ni(HFOro(2-))(H(2)O)(4)].1H(2)O (2), [Cu(HFOro(2-))(NH(3))(H(2)O)](n) (3) and [Cu(3)(FOro(3-))(2)(NH(3))(6)(H(2)O)(2)] (4) have been synthesised and characterised by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, IR spectroscopy and by thermogravimetry. Three different coordination modes of 5-fluoroorotic acid have been established. In all cases the ligand is chelated to the metal via an amido-nitrogen and a carboxylate-oxygen but for (3), there is also a carboxylate oxygen from another HFOro(2-) ligand resulting in a polymeric structure and for (4), the second amido-nitrogen in the ororotic acid ring coordinates to give a trinuclear complex. The metal coordination polyhedra are octahedral in (2), square-pyramidal in (3) and square-planar and approximately square-pyramidal in (4). An octahedral coordination geometry including a N(1)/O(61)-chelating HFOro(2-) ligand with four aqua ligands is proposed for the Zn complex [Zn(HFOro(2-)) (H(2)O)(4)].0.5H(2)O (5), based on IR and thermogravimetric data. Extensive hydrogen bonded networks and some ring-ring stacking interactions are observed in each of the structures.  相似文献

4-Acetyl-2-(acetylamino)-5-dimethyl-Δ2-1,3,4-thiadiazole (AAT) has been used to obtain the complexes of the general formula [M(AAT)X2]·H2O where M(II) = Zn, Hg, Cd and Cu, and X  Cl or 12 SO4. The complexes have been characterized on the basis of their elemental analysis, molar conductance, magnetic susceptibility and spectral data. Probable structures for the complexes have been proposed on the basis of their physico-chemical properties. The fungitoxicity of AAT and the isolated complexes has been tested on pathogenic fungi.  相似文献

Abstract

Complexation of toxic metal ions with maleic acid in (0.0–2.5% w/v) cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB)–water mixtures has been studied pH-metrically at ambient conditions and an ionic strength of 0.16 mol L-1. The existence of different binary species was established from modelling studies using the computer program MINIQUAD75. The best-fit chemical models were selected based on statistical parameters such as the crystallographic R factor and sum of the squares of residuals in mass-balance equations. The models for binary complex systems contain the chemical species ML2, ML2H and ML3 for Pb(II), Cd(II) and Hg(II) in CTAB–water mixtures. The trend in the variation of stability constants with change in the mole fraction of the medium was explained based on electrostatic and non-electrostatic forces. Distribution of the species with pH at different compositions of CTAB–water mixtures was also presented.  相似文献

Electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) of mixtures containing glutathione (GSH) and nitrates, oxides or chlorides of the heavy metals, arsenic, antimony, cadmium, mercury, thallium, lead or bismuth allows for definitive identification of complexes in the gas phase. In the positive ion mode, spectra show prominent m/z peaks that are assigned to monocations of general formulae [E(GSH)-xH]+ (E = Cd, Hg, Tl, Pb, As, Sb or Bi; x = 0, 1 or 2), [E(GSH)2-xH]+ (E = Hg, As, Sb, or Bi; x = 1 or 2), [E(GSH)3-xH]+ (E = As, Sb or Bi; x = 2), [E2(GSH)-xH]+ (E = Tl or Pb; x = 1 or 3), [E2(GSH)2-xH]+ (E = Bi; x = 5), [E2(GSH)3-xH]+ (E = Bi; x = 5), and/or [E3(GSH)-xH]+ (E = Tl; x = 2). Spectra obtained in the negative ion mode give m/z peaks observed in assigned to monoanionic species that correspond to some of the monocationic species listed above with two protons removed. The results demonstrate the potential application of ESI-MS as a versatile and efficient approach to study toxic heavy metals in biological systems. In addition, the observations provide a foundation database to understand the chemistry of these heavy metals with bio-molecules.  相似文献

The reaction of L-ascorbic acid with the zinc group and manganese ions has been investigated in aqueous solution at pH 6-7. The solid salts of the type M (L-ascorbate)2.2H2O, where M = Zn(II), Cd(II) and Mn(II) were isolated and characterized by 13C NMR and Fourier Transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy. Spectroscopic evidence showed that in aqueous solution, the bindings of the Zn(II) and Mn(II) ions are through the ascorbate anion O-3 and O(2)-H groups (chelation), while the Cd(II) ion binding is via the O-3 atom only. In the solid state, the binding of these metal ions would be through two acid anions via O-3, O-2 of the first and O-1, O-3 of the second anion as well as to two H2O molecules, resulting in a six-coordinated metal ion. The Hg(II) ion interaction leads to the oxidation of the ascorbic acid in aqueous solution.  相似文献

Crystalline sucrose interacts with hydrous alkaline earth metal ions to give adducts of the type Mg(sucrose)Cl2.4H2O, Mg(sucrose)2Br2.4H2O, Ca(sucrose)Cl2.2H2O, and Ca(sucrose)2Br2.2H2O. These adducts are characterized by means of elemental analysis, FT-IR spectroscopy. X-ray powder diffraction, and molar conductivity measurements.Due to the marked spectral similarities with those of the structurally known Na(sucrose)Br.2H2O and other Na-sucrose adducts in the 1:1 metal sugar compounds, the Mg(II) ion is possibly six-coordinate, binding to two sucrose molecules via O(4), O(6) of the first sugar and O(6') of the second molecule and to three H2O, whereas in the 1:2 metal-sugar adducts, magnesium ion binds to two sugar molecules through O(4), O(6) and to two H2O, resulting in a six-coordination geometry around the Mg(II) ion. The Ca(II) ion is possibly seven-coordinate in the 1:1 metal-sugar compound, binding to two sucrose molecules through O(4), O(6) of the first and O(6') of the second sugar and to two H2O molecules as well as to two halide anions, while in the 1:2 metal-sugar adduct it could be bonded to four sugar molecules via O(4), O(6) of the two and O(6') of the other two molecules and to two H2O, resulting in an eight-coordination geometry around the Ca(II) ion. Upon metal adduct formation, the strong sugar hydrogen bonding network is rearranged to that of the sucrose-OH ... H2O ... halide ... OH-sucrose system.  相似文献

Three novel copper(II), cobalt(II), and nickel(II) complexes of lapachol (Lap) containing 110-phenanthroline (phen) ligand, [M(Lap)2(phen)] (M=Cu(II), 1, Co(II), 2, and Ni(II), 3), have been synthesized and characterized using, elemental analysis and spectroscopic studies. Their interactions with calf thymus DNA (CT DNA) were investigated using viscosity, thermal denaturation, circular dichorism, fluorescence quenching, and electronic absorption spectroscopy. The DNA cleavage abilities of 13 have been studied, where cleavage activity of copper complex 1 is more than the complexes 2 and 3. The in vitro cytotoxic potential of the complexes 1–3 against human cervical carcinoma (HeLa), human liver hepatocellular carcinoma (HepG-2), and human colorectal adenocarcinoma (HT-29) cells indicated their promising antitumor activity with quite low IC50 values in the range of .15–2.41 μM, which are lower than those of cisplatin.  相似文献

As an important nucleobase in RNA, uracil was introduced into the side chain of cyclen (1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane) by using phenylene dimethylene group as bridge. The target compounds 5 were obtained in high yields. Subsequent experiments demonstrated that the uracil-cyclen conjugates can bind Zn(2+) cation rapidly in water, and the catalytic activities of their Zn(II) complexes 6 in DNA cleavage were also studied. The results showed that Zn(II) complexes can catalyze the cleavage of supercoiled DNA (pUC 19 plasmid DNA) (Form I) to produce nicked DNA (Form II and Form III) with high selectivity. In water solution, complex 6b may form a unique and stable supramolecular structure, which benefits the DNA cleavage process.  相似文献
