Miscanthus has a high potential as a biomass feedstock for biofuel production. Drought tolerance is an important breeding goal in miscanthus as water deficit is a common abiotic stress and crop irrigation is in most cases uneconomical. Drought may not only severely reduce biomass yields, but also affect biomass quality for biofuel production as cell wall remodeling is a common plant response to abiotic stresses. The quality and plant weight of 50 diverse miscanthus genotypes were evaluated under control and drought conditions (28 days no water) in a glasshouse experiment. Overall, drought treatment decreased plant weight by 45%. Drought tolerance – as defined by maintenance of plant weight – varied extensively among the tested miscanthus genotypes and ranged from 30% to 110%. Biomass composition was drastically altered due to drought stress, with large reductions in cell wall and cellulose content and a substantial increase in hemicellulosic polysaccharides. Stress had only a small effect on lignin content. Cell wall structural rigidity was also affected by drought conditions; substantially higher cellulose conversion rates were observed upon enzymatic saccharification of drought‐treated samples with respect to controls. Both cell wall composition and the extent of cell wall plasticity under drought varied extensively among all genotypes, but only weak correlations were found with the level of drought tolerance, suggesting their independent genetic control. High drought tolerance and biomass quality can thus potentially be advanced simultaneously. The extensive genotypic variation found for most traits in the evaluated miscanthus germplasm provides ample scope for breeding of drought‐tolerant varieties that are able to produce substantial yields of high‐quality biomass under water deficit conditions. The higher degradability of drought‐treated samples makes miscanthus an interesting crop for the production of second‐generation biofuels in marginal soils.  相似文献

Plant cell walls are composed of cellulose microfibrils embedded in a cross‐linked‐net of matrix polysaccharides and co‐polymerized with lignin. The study presented the genotypic variations of cell wall composition, biohydrogen production, and lignocellulose degradation ratio in a collection of 102 Miscanthus sinensis (M. Sinensis, hereafter) accessions collected from a wide geographical range in China. Significant variations were observed for the determined traits, cellulose content, hemicellulose content, cellulose and hemicellulose degradation efficiency, and biohydrogen yield. The cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin contents ranged from 30.20–44.25, 28.97–42.65, and 6.96–20.75%, respectively. The degradation ratio of cellulose and hemicellulose varied from 2.08% to 37.87% and from 14.71% to 52.50%, respectively. The feedstock was fermented to produce biohydrogen, and the production varied from 14.59 to 40.66 ml per gram of Miscanthus biomass. The expression profile of three cellulose synthase (MsCesA) genes was initially established to indicate the genotypic difference among the M. sinensis accessions. Pearson's correlations were conducted to reveal the perplexing relationship between the tested traits, biohydrogen yield, cell wall composition and their degradation efficiency. In addition, the relationship pattern, between the test traits and the geographic factors corresponding with the original place, was investigated. The result showed that the significant variation among the M. sinensis genotypes is the result of natural selection in different environments of their original habitats. Improvement in cell wall composition and structure and enhancement of lignocellulose degradation ratio could significantly increase sustainable bioenergy production.  相似文献

Genetic diversity within species is a potentially important, but poorly studied, determinant of plant community dynamics. Here we report experiments testing the influence of genotype identity and genotypic diversity both on the invasibility of a foundation, matrix-forming species (Kentucky bluegrass, Poa pratensis), and on the invasiveness of a colonizing species (dandelion, Taraxacum officinale). Genotypes of Kentucky bluegrass in monoculture showed significant variation in productivity and resistance to dandelion invasion, but the productivity and invasion resistance of genotypic mixtures were not significantly different from those of genotypic monocultures. Indirect evidence suggested temporal shifts in the genotypic composition of mixtures. Dandelion genotypes in monoculture showed striking and significant variation in productivity and seed production, but there was no significant tendency for these variables in mixtures to deviate from null expectations based on monocultures. However, productivity and seed production of dandelion mixtures were consistently greater than those of the two least productive genotypes, and statistically indistinguishable from those of the three most productive genotypes, suggesting the possibility of greater invasiveness of genotypically diverse populations in the long run due to dominance by highly productive genotypes. In both experiments, the identity of genotypes was far more important than genetic diversity per se.  相似文献

ABSTRACT: BACKGROUND: Because many Miscanthus genotypes can be cultivated with relatively high productivity and carbohydrate content, Miscanthus has great potential as an energy crop that can support large scale biological production of biofuels. RESULTS: In this study, batch hydrothermal pretreatment at 180 °C for 35 min followed by enzymatic hydrolysis was shown to give the highest total sugar yields for Miscanthus x giganteus cv. Illinois planted in Illinois. High throughput pretreatment at 180 °C for 35 min and 17.5 min followed by co-hydrolysis in a multi-well batch reactor identified two varieties out of 80 that had significantly higher sugar yields from pretreatment and enzymatic hydrolysis than others. The differences in performance were then related to compositions of the 80 varieties to provide insights into desirable traits for Miscanthus that enhance sugar yields. CONCLUSIONS: High throughput pretreatment and co-hydrolysis (HTPH) rapidly identified promising genotypes from a wide range of Miscanthus genotypes, including hybrids of Miscanthus sacchariflorus/M. sinensis and Miscanthus lutarioriparius, differentiating the more commercially promising species from the rest. The total glucan plus xylan content in Miscanthus appeared to influence both mass and theoretical yields, while lignin and ash contents did not have a predictable influence on performance.  相似文献

Efficient utilization of lignocellulosic Miscanthus biomass for the production of biochemicals, such as ethanol, is challenging due to its recalcitrance, which is influenced by the individual plant cell wall polymers and their interactions. Lignocellulosic biomass composition differs depending on several factors, such as plant age, harvest date, organ type, and genotype. Here, four selected Miscanthus genotypes (Miscanthus sinensis, Miscanthus sacchariflorus, Miscanthus × giganteus, Miscanthus sinensis × Miscanthus sacchariflorus hybrid) were grown and harvested, separated into stems and leaves, and characterized for their non‐starch polysaccharide composition and structures, lignin contents and structures, and hydroxycinnamate profiles (monomers and ferulic acid dehydrodimers). Polysaccharides of all genotypes are mainly composed of cellulose and low‐substituted arabinoxylans. Ratios of hemicelluloses to cellulose were comparable, with the exception of Miscanthus sinensis that showed a higher hemicellulose/cellulose ratio. Lignin contents of Miscanthus stems were higher than those of Miscanthus leaves. Considering the same organs, the four genotypes did not differ in their Klason lignin contents, but Miscanthus × giganteus showed the highest acetylbromide soluble lignin content. Lignin polymers isolated from stems varied in their S/G ratios and linkage type distributions across genotypes. p‐Coumaric acid was the most abundant ester‐bound hydroxycinnamte monomer in all samples. Ferulic acid dehydrodimers were analyzed as cell wall cross‐links, with 8‐5‐coupled diferulic acid being the main dimer, followed by 8‐O‐4‐, and 5‐5‐diferulic acid. Contents of p‐coumaric acid, ferulic acid, and ferulic acid dimers varied depending on genotype and organ type. The largest amount of cell wall cross‐links was analyzed for Miscanthus sinensis.  相似文献

Community genetics hypothesizes that within a foundation species, the genotype of an individual significantly influences the assemblage of dependent organisms. To assess whether these intra-specific genetic effects are ecologically important, it is required to compare their impact on dependent organisms with that attributable to environmental variation experienced over relevant spatial scales. We assessed bark epiphytes on 27 aspen (Populus tremula L.) genotypes grown in a randomized experimental array at two contrasting sites spanning the environmental conditions from which the aspen genotypes were collected. We found that variation in aspen genotype significantly influenced bark epiphyte community composition, and to the same degree as environmental variation between the test sites. We conclude that maintaining genotypic diversity of foundation species may be crucial for conservation of associated biodiversity.  相似文献

In stoloniferous species, the length of petioles is of pivotal importance because it determines the position of leaf blades within the canopy. From a mechanistic perspective, two developmental processes, cell division and cell elongation, are responsible for the length of a given petiole. This study aimed at quantifying the relative contributions of cell division and cell elongation to genotypic and plastic variation in petiole length of the stoloniferous herb Trifolium repens. Thirty-four genotypes of T. repens were grown under high light conditions and simulated canopy shade. Cells were counted and their lengths measured on epidermal prints from fully grown petioles of leaves that had been initiated in the experimental light conditions. Cell number was the main trait explaining petiole length differences among genotypes grown under high light, while both cell number and length changed in response to shading. Our study revealed a strong negative correlation between shade-induced changes in cell number and cell length: genotypes that responded to shading by increasing cell numbers hardly changed in cell length, and vice versa. Our results suggest that genotypic and phenotypic variation in petiole length results from a complex interplay between the developmental processes of cell elongation and cell division.  相似文献

Floral stems of Arabidopsis thaliana accessions were used as a model system relative to forage plant stems in genetic variation studies of lignin content and cell wall digestibility related traits. Successive investigations were developed in a core collection of 24 Arabidopsis accessions and in a larger collection of 280 accessions. Significant genetic variation for lignin content in the cell wall, and for the two in vitro cell wall digestibility investigated traits, were found both in the core collection and in the large collection. Genotype × environment interactions, investigated in the core collection, were significant with a few genotypes contributing greatly to interactions, based on ecovalence value estimates. In the core collection, genotypes 42AV, 224AV, and 8AV had low cell wall digestibility values, whatever be the environmental conditions. Genotype 157AV, observed only in one environment, also appeared to have a low cell wall digestibility. Conversely, genotypes 236AV, 162AV, 70AV, 101AV, 83AV had high cell wall digestibility values, genotype 83AV having a slightly greater instability across differing environments than others. The well-known accession Col-0 (186AV) appeared with a medium level of cell wall digestibility and a weak to medium level of interaction between environments. The ranges of variation in cell wall digestibility traits were higher in the large collection than in the core collection of 24 accessions, these results needing confirmation due to the lower number of replicates. Accessions 295AV, 148AV, and 309AV could be models for low stem cell wall digestibility values, with variable lignin content. Similarly, accessions 83AV and 162AV, already identified from the study of the core collection, and five accessions (6AV, 20AV, 91AV, 114AV, and 223AV) could be models for high stem cell wall digestibility values. The large variations observed between Arabidopsis accessions for both lignin content and cell wall digestibility in floral stems have strengthened the use this species as a powerful tool for discovering genes involved in cell wall biosynthesis and lignification of dicotyledons forage plants. Investigations of this kind might also be applicable to monocotyledons forage plants due to the basic similarity of the genes involved in the lignin pathway of Angiosperms and the partial homology of the cell wall composition and organization of the mature vascular system in grasses and Arabidopsis.  相似文献

Aims Reintroduction has become an important tool for the management of endangered plant species. We tested the little-explored effects of small-scale environmental variation, genotypic composition (i.e. identity of genotypes) and genotypic diversity on the population survival of the regionally rare clonal plant Ranunculus reptans. For this species of periodically inundated lakeshores, genetic differentiation had been reported between populations and between short-flooded and long-flooded microsites within populations. Methods We established 306 experimental test populations at a previously unoccupied lakeshore, comprising either monocultures of 32 genotypes, mixtures of genotypes within populations or mixtures of genotypes between populations. In 2000, three years after planting out at the experimental site, a long-lasting flood caused the death of half of the experimental populations. In 2003, an extreme drought resulted in the lowest summer water levels ever measured.Important findings Despite these climatic extremes, 27% of the established populations survived in December 2003. The success of experimental populations largely differed between microsites. Moreover, the success of genotype monocultures depended on genotype and source population. Genetic differentiation between microsites played a minor role for the success of reintroduction. After the flood, populations planted with genotypes from different source populations increased in abundance, whereas populations with genotypes from single source populations and genotype monocultures decreased. In 2014, several small patches of Ranunculus clones were still present, but plants were strongly intermingled, which precluded their assignment to the original treatments. We conclude that sources for reintroductions need to be selected carefully. Moreover, mixtures of plants from different populations appear to be the best choice for successful reintroduction, at least in unpredictably varying environments.  相似文献

Senescence impacts the harvestable biomass yield and quality in Miscanthus. Very early autumn senescence shortens the canopy duration reducing yield potential. When senescence is too late or slow, the crop does not ripen sufficiently before harvest, resulting in high moisture and nutrient offtakes that reduce biomass quality. In this study, variation in senescence was monitored over 3?years in a trial of 244 Miscanthus genotypes planted in four replicate blocks. The experiment comprised 199 genotypes of Miscanthus sinensis, 36 genotypes of Miscanthus sacchariflorus, and 9 genotypes of Miscanthus?×?giganteus. On average, M. sinensis genotypes remained greener for longer than M. sacchariflorus genotypes. There was a strong correlation between senescence and moisture content at harvest in 2007 and 2008 (R 2?=?0.59, R 2?=?0.57, respectively; n?=?244). The senescence rate of M.?×?giganteus, an interspecific hybrid between M. sinensis and M. sacchariflorus, was found to lie between the two parental species groups. Environmental signals likely to be involved in the timing and rate of senescence, such as variation in photoperiod and thermal time that occurred through the growing season were investigated. Interactions between individual environmental signals and senescence were difficult to separate. The majority of plants senesced consistently between replicate blocks, and rank order was mostly consistent across all years suggesting strong genotypic control of senescence. This study provides valuable information for the future optimisation of Miscanthus, and potentially other energy grasses, where new varieties are needed to maximise net energy yields and crop quality for different end uses in different global regions.  相似文献

We analyzed five near-isogenic brown midrib hybrids in maize via pyrolysis/gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (Py/GC-MS) in order to determine how differing lignin composition and structure impacts individual bio-oil compounds. Twenty-six compounds were analyzed for differences among the five hybrids and between cob and stover materials. We found statistically significant differences for 9 compounds, when comparing the 5 hybrids, and 17 significant differences when comparing maize cobs with stover. Our data indicate that it may be possible to predict phenolic compounds within bio-oil based on cell wall lignin composition. The genetic variation observed in this study suggests that bio-oil quality can be improved by plant breeding.  相似文献

Polygonum aviculare is an annual weedy species showing extensive genetic variation in seed and leaf size and colonizing various types of man-disturbed habitats. A growth analysis was conducted on 12 genotypes representative of three regimes of disturbance of natural habitat (trampling, weeding, and no disturbance in the course of the growing season), grown under productive conditions in order to test whether relative growth rate (RGR) varies at the intraspecific level and, if so, which growth parameters may explain its variation. RGR showed significant genotypic variation (0.355–0.452 g g-1 day-1), positively correlated with specific leaf area (SLA) and leaf mass ratio (LMR) and negatively correlated with unit leaf rate per unit leaf area (ULRA). Thus, the paramount importance of leaf area ratio (LAR=SLA×LMR) in determining growth rate variation between different herbaceous species is confirmed at the intraspecific level in this species. Genotypes originating from trampled habitats had smaller seeds and smaller leaves than genotypes from habitats subject to other disturbance regimes. Additionally, they showed a lower LAR, not entirely compensated for by a higher ULRA, which resulted in a positive allometric relationship between seed size and RGR. It is hypothesized that their lower SLA, correlated with a higher leaf dry matter content (possibly a consequence of a higher cell wall content per unit leaf area) and their lower LMR have been co-selected with small leaf size as adaptations promoting resistance to trampling stress. It is suggested that variation in cell size and/or gibberellin content might be the mediators of the correlation found between seed size, leaf size and growth parameters within this species.  相似文献

Phytophagous insects generally feed on a restricted range of host plants, using a number of different sensory and behavioural mechanisms to locate and recognize their host plants. Phloem-feeding aphids have been shown to exhibit genetic variation for host preference of different plant species and genetic variation within a plant species can also have an effect on aphid preference and acceptance. It is known that genotypic interactions between barley genotypes and Sitobion avenae aphid genotypes influence aphid fitness, but it is unknown if these different aphid genotypes exhibit active host choice (preference) for the different barley genotypes. Active host choice by aphid genotypes for particular plant genotypes would lead to assortative association (non-random association) between the different aphid and plant genotypes. The performance of each aphid genotype on the plant genotypes also has the ability to enhance these interactions, especially if the aphid genotypes choose the plant genotype that also infers the greatest fitness. In this study, we demonstrate that different aphid genotypes exhibit differential preference and performance for different barley genotypes. Three out of four aphid genotypes exhibited preference for (or against) particular barley genotypes that were not concordant with differences in their reproductive rate on the specific barley genotype. This suggests active host choice of aphids is the primary mechanism for the observed pattern of non-random associations between aphid and barley genotypes. In a community context, such genetic associations between the aphids and barley can lead to population-level changes within the aphid species. These interactions may also have evolutionary effects on the surrounding interacting community, especially in ecosystems of limited species and genetic diversity.  相似文献

To determine whether resistance to Fusarium head blight in winter wheat is horizontal and non-species specific, 25 genotypes from five European countries were tested at six locations across Europe in the years 1990, 1991, and 1992. The five genotypes from each country had to cover the range from resistant to susceptible. The locations involved were Wageningen, Vienna, Rennes, Hohenheim, Oberer Lindenhof, and Szeged. In total, 17 local strains of Fusarium culmorum, F. graminearum, and F. nivale were used for experimental inoculation. One strain, F. culmorum IPO 39-01, was used at all locations. Best linear unbiased predictions (BLUPs) for the head blight ratings of the genotypes were formed within each particular location for each combination of year and strain. The BLUPs over all locations were collected in a genotype-by environment table in which the genotypic dimension consisted of the 25 genotypes, while the environmental dimension was made up of 59 year-by-strain-by-location combinations. A multiplicative model was fitted to the genotype by-environment interaction in this table. The inverses of the variances of the genotype-by-environment BLUPs were used as weights. Interactions between genotypes and environments were written as sums of products between genotypic scores and environmental scores. After correction for year-by-location influence very little variation in environmental scores could be ascribed to differences between strains. This provided the basis for the conclusion that the resistance to Fusarium head blight in winter wheat was of the horizontal and non-species specific type. There was no indication for any geographical pattern in virulence genes. Any reasonable aggressive strain, a F. culmorum strain for the cool climates and a F. graminearum strain for the warmer humid areas, should be satisfactory for screening purposes.  相似文献

Sweet and biomass sorghum are expected to contribute increasingly to bioenergy production. Better understanding the impacts of the genotypic and environmental variabilities on biomass component traits and their properties is essential to optimize energy yields. This study aimed to evaluate whether traits contributing to stem biomass growth and biochemical composition at different biological scales (co)vary with the genotype and the water status in sorghum. Height genotypes were studied over two years in field conditions in southern France under two water treatments (well watered vs. 25 days’ dry down during stem elongation). Main stem internode number, size, (non)structural carbohydrate, and lignin contents were measured at the end of the stress period and/or at final harvest, together with biochemical and histological analyses of the youngest expanded internode. The tallest genotypes showed the highest stem dry weights and lignin contents. Stem (structural) biomass density was positively correlated with lignin content, particularly in internode parenchyma. Stem soluble sugar and lignin contents were inversely proportional across genotypes and water conditions. Genotypes contrasted for drought sensitivity and recovery capacity of stem growth and biochemical composition. The length and cell wall deposition of internodes expanding under water deficit were reduced and did not recover, these responses being weakly correlated. Genotypic variability was pointed out in the growth recovery of internodes expanding under re‐watered conditions. According to the observed genotypic variability and the absence of antagonistic correlations between the responses of the different traits to water availability, it is suggested that biomass sorghum varieties optimizing their responses to water availability in terms of growth and cell wall deposition can be developed for different bioenergy targets.  相似文献

Background

The recalcitrance of lignocellulosic cell wall biomass to deconstruction varies greatly in angiosperms, yet the source of this variation remains unclear. Here, in eight genotypes of short rotation coppice willow (Salix sp.) variability of the reaction wood (RW) response and the impact of this variation on cell wall recalcitrance to enzymatic saccharification was considered.

Results

A pot trial was designed to test if the ‘RW response’ varies between willow genotypes and contributes to the differences observed in cell wall recalcitrance to enzymatic saccharification in field-grown trees. Biomass composition was measured via wet chemistry and used with glucose release yields from enzymatic saccharification to determine cell wall recalcitrance. The levels of glucose release found for pot-grown control trees showed no significant correlation with glucose release from mature field-grown trees. However, when a RW phenotype was induced in pot-grown trees, glucose release was strongly correlated with that for mature field-grown trees. Field studies revealed a 5-fold increase in glucose release from a genotype grown at a site exposed to high wind speeds (a potentially high RW inducing environment) when compared with the same genotype grown at a more sheltered site.

Conclusions

Our findings provide evidence for a new concept concerning variation in the recalcitrance to enzymatic hydrolysis of the stem biomass of different, field-grown willow genotypes (and potentially other angiosperms). Specifically, that genotypic differences in the ability to produce a response to RW inducing conditions (a ‘RW response’) indicate that this RW response is a primary determinant of the variation observed in cell wall glucan accessibility. The identification of the importance of this RW response trait in willows, is likely to be valuable in selective breeding strategies in willow (and other angiosperm) biofuel crops and, with further work to dissect the nature of RW variation, could provide novel targets for genetic modification for improved biofuel feedstocks.

Eighty-five yeast strains isolated from different cheeses of Austria, Denmark, France, Germany, and Italy were identified using physiological methods and genotypically using random amplified polymorphic DNA polymerase chain reaction (RAPD-PCR) analysis. Good congruence was found between the phenotypic and genotypic data for 39 of the isolates. However, 26 isolates of Geotrichum could only be identified to the species level using the genotypic methods and 7 isolates were correctly identified to the genus level only using phenotypic identification methods. The phenotypic identification did not agree with the genotypic data for 14 yeast isolates. Using ubiquinone analysis, yeast cell wall sugars and the diazonium blue B test 5 incorrectly identified isolates with phenotypic methods could be identified genotypically. In addition the 7 isolates identified only to the genus level by the phenotypic methods and the 26 Geotrichum strains were identified to the species level using the polyphasic molecular approach mentioned above. Eleven strains remained unidentified. The 76 identified yeast isolates were assigned to 39 species, the most frequent assignments were made to Debaryomyces hansenii, Geotrichum candidum, Issatchenkia orientalis, Kluyveromyces lactis, K. marxianus, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Yarrowia lipolytica, andCandida catenulata. It is proposed that Debaryomyces hansenii (Zopf) Lodder et Kreger-van Rij and Debaryomyces fabryi Ota should be reinstated. The RAPD-PCR data reinforced the view that the species Galactomyces geotrichum is heterogeneous with all of the Geotrichum isolates from cheese products being assigned G. geotrichum group A sensu M.T. Smith. It is suggested that the name Geotrichum candidum be conserved for this rather common species.  相似文献

AIMS: Phenotypic and genotypic bacteria identification methods were compared for their efficacy in determining the composition of competitive exclusion (CE) products. METHODS AND RESULTS: Phenotypic methods used for bacterial identification were fatty acid methyl ester profiles, biochemical assays and carbohydrate utilization profiles. Genotypic methods were MicroSeq16S rRNA sequence analysis and BLAST searches of the GenBank sequence database. Agreement between phenotypic and genotypic methods for identification of bacteria isolated from the Preempt CE product was 20%. A defined test mixture of bacteria was identified to the species level 100% by BLAST analysis, 64% by MicroSeq and 36% by phenotypic techniques. CONCLUSIONS: The wide range of facultative and obligate anaerobic bacteria present in a CE product are more accurately identified with 16S rRNA sequence analyses than with phenotypic identification techniques. SIGNIFICANCE AND IMPACT OF THE STUDY: These results will provide guidelines for manufacturers of CE products to submit more reliable product information for market approval by regulatory agencies.  相似文献

Genetic variation in plants has broad implications for both the ecology and evolution of species interactions. We addressed how a diverse community of arthropod species covary in abundance among plant genotypes of a native herbaceous plant ( Oenothera biennis ), and if these effects scale-up to shape the composition, diversity, and total abundance of arthropods over the entire lifetime of plants (two years). In a field experiment, we replicated 14 plant genotypes of O. biennis across five field habitats and studied the arthropod communities that naturally colonized plants. Genetic variation in O. biennis affected the abundance of 45% of the eleven common species in 2002, and 75% of sixteen common species in 2003. We examined the strength of correlations in mean abundance of arthropod species among plant genotypes and found that species responded independently to variation among genotypes in the first year of the study, whereas species formed positively covarying clusters of taxa in the second year (rmean=0.35). The strength of these correlations did not consistently correspond to either taxonomy or functional attributes of the different species. The effects of plant genetic variation on the abundance and covariation of multiple arthropod species was associated with cascading effects on higher levels of community organization, as plant genotype and habitat interacted to affect the species composition, diversity, and total abundance of arthropods in both 2002 and 2003, though the specific effects varied across years. Our results suggest that plants may employ generalized resistance strategies effective against multiple herbivores, but such strategies are unlikely to be effective against entire functional groups of species. Moreover, we show that genotypic variation in plants is an important ecological factor that affects multiple levels of community organization, but the effects of plant genotype vary in both space and time.  相似文献
