A method of sampling and analysis is proposed to detect pattern parameters in plant populations from two-dimensional data. the use of aerial photographs to find the coordinates of trees and the measurements of plant-to-all-plants distances yields conditioned probability spectra which can be interpreted in terms of pattern parameters. Two artificial populations and a set of real data have been analysed to test the accuracy of the method.  相似文献

Biofilms were collected on discoloured limestone samples and on adhesive tape from historic buildings at the Mayan site of Edzna, in Campeche, Mexico. Grey, brown, and black areas were colonised predominantly by coccoid and colonial cyanobacteria, also detected as endoliths. The major biomass on the pink stone surface was Trentepohlia. At low power, surface micropits containing crustose-lichen-like black colonies were seen within these pink areas. These were apparently pure colonies of T. umbrina; no filamentous fungi were detected here. The black colour was produced by dense, amorphous pigment deposits in the colony centres. Insolation levels were high (400 μmphotons m−2 s−1) and the moisture content of the stone was 0.7%. The high carotenoid:chlorophyll-α ratio of Trentepohlia biofilms (3.9:1) is an adaptation protecting against environmental stress. Trentepohlia caused severe local erosion (pitting) and, when present as a more uniform biofilm, the well-known pink surface discoloration.  相似文献

The diet of the black-headed heron was studied using analysis of pellets and prey remnants (225 prey items identified) collected from four sites in South African Highveld Grassland, transformed into cultivated fields. Small vertebrates comprised the staple food of chicks. Rodents were the most important vertebrate prey. Otomys irroratus comprised ca. 50% of the total biomass of vertebrate prey consumed. The diet was supplemented by small lizards, snakes, frogs and fishes. Grasshoppers, beetles, crabs and other arthropods were occasionally preyed upon.  相似文献

Summary In 1970 chalk grasslands were studied in southern England, according to the principles of the French-Swiss School. The communities described belong to the associationCirsio-Brometum Shimwell 1971, emend., allianceMesobromion erecti (Br. Bl. & Moor 1938) Oberd. 1957, orderBrometalia W. Koch (1926 n.n.) Br.-Bl. 1936, of the classFestuco-Brometea Br.-Bl. 1936, emend. Tüx. 1961. Within theCirsio-Brometum three new sub-associations are distinguished: 1) subass. nov.anthoxanthetosum odorati; 2) subass. nov.Cornetosum sanguineae; and 3) subass. nov.campanuletosum rotundifoliae.Special attention is paid to the relationship that exists between the management of these communities and the seral stages that lead to the development of serub following the decreasing influence of grazing. Ulex europaeus scrub occurring on calcareous soil was also studied. The cryptogams of the chalk grasslands, mainly Musci, were investigated in detail.Plant nomenclature follows Heukels & van Ooststroom (1970) or for taxa not mentioned by these, Clapham et al. (1968) for phanerograms and Margadant (1959) and van der Wijk et al. Given the importance of soil organic carbon (SOC) as a pool in the global carbon cycle and an indicator for soil quality, there exits an urgent need to monitor this dynamic soil property. Here, we present a modelling approach to analyze the spatial patterns and temporal evolution of organic carbon in mineral soils under agricultural land use in Belgium. An empirical model, predicting the SOC concentration in the top 0.3 m, as a function of precipitation, land use, soil type and management has been constructed and applied within a spatial context using data from different time slices. The results show that SOC content is strongly correlated with precipitation and temperature under cropland and with texture and drainage under grassland. Total SOC stock increased with 1.3% from 6.18 ± 0.03 kg C m?2 in 1960 to 6.26 ± 0.07 kg C m?2 in 2006. Although this increase was not significant (P>0.05), a significant discrepancy between cropland (?8%) and grassland (+10%) was observed. Foremost, the grasslands in the hilly southern part of the country, under relatively wet climate conditions, acted as important sinks of CO2. Under cropland, all soil types were characterized by a decrease in SOC, except for the clay soils in the north‐west. Currently, croplands in the central loam region have SOC concentrations close to 10 g C kg?1 indicating that these soils are at risk of a decline in aggregate stability. An overall strong SOC decline in poorly drained soils is probably caused by artificial drainage. Further research is needed to gain more insight into the processes driving the observed SOC trends. Moreover, the use of updated drainage class information and land management history would improve the empirical models.  相似文献

A survey is given of the floristic composition and geographical distribution of limestone grasslands assigned to the Mesobromion ereeti, in Western Europe.This survey is based upon 800 vegetation relevés from various investigators throughout the area. Relevant tables have been summarized into a synoptic table with 30 columns. Each column represents a community described as an association or a subassociation.The synoptic table shows a division into a NW European group (Ireland, England, Denmark, and South Sweden) and a Central-W European group (Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium, France, and Switzerland). Associations belonging to the former have, as a rule, a smaller distribution area than the latter.In the latter group only two associations can be distinguished: Mesobrometum erecti and Antherico-Brometum ass. nov. The Mesobrometum is widespread and includes many subassociations. The Antherico-Brometum shows a transition towards the Xerobromion erecti.According to Barkman et al., (1976) the often used name Gentiano-Koelerietum has to be seen as a not-correct synonym for the Mesobrometum erecti.The Mesobromion grasslands can, in general, not be divided based upon their agricultural management system.An attempt is made to interpret the gradual transition in floristic composition of the limestone grasslands from NW to SE, with climatological data.Plant nomenclature follows Heukels & Van Ooststroom (1975) or, else, Clapham et al. We analysed the long-term development of limestone grasslands in West- and Central Europe (Mesobromion: Gentiano-Koelerietum) under conditions of restoration comparing vegetation changes with the composition of its corresponding soil seed bank over a time period from 1992 to 2005. Because of optimal climatic, edaphic and geomorphologic conditions restoration of vegetation developed gradually into the optimal phase of the typical limestone grassland vegetation type. However, the development of the soil seed bank compared to that of the actual vegetation cover is much slower, and even after 13 years all three study plots did not reach the optimal phase compared to soil seed bank composition from well-developed control vegetation nearby. This finding agrees with the assumption that after changes of management limestone grasslands need decades or even centuries to develop into self-sustaining species-rich habitats. We also monitored the orchid Ophrys insectifera as target species and characteristic species of this type of plant association over the last 27 years. Here, population density increased continuously over time indicating that vegetation restoration efforts of the last decades have had a positive effect.We further documented that the data obtained for the soil seed bank largely depend on the applied method used for the characterization of the soil seed bank. The seedling emergence and the rinsing method provided different results, and in case of our study area the rinsing method was mostly superior. The rinsing method detected up to 20fold higher total seed numbers.  相似文献

Sleep EEG spectral analysis in a diurnal rodent:Eutamias sibiricus   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
1. Sleep was studied in the diurnal rodent Eutamias sibiricus, chronically implanted with EEG and EMG electrodes. Analysis of the distribution of wakefulness, nonrapid eye movement (NREM) sleep, and rapid eye movement (REM) sleep over the 24 h period (LD 12:12) showed that total sleep time was 27.5% of recording time during the 12 h light period and 74.4% during the 12 h dark period. Spectral analysis of the sleep EEG revealed a progressive decay in delta power density in NREM sleep during darkness. Power density of the higher frequencies increased at the end of darkness. Power density of the higher frequencies decreased and that of the lower frequencies increased during light. 2. Analysis of the distribution of vigilance states under three different photoperiods (LD 18:6; 12:12; 6:18) revealed that changes in daylength mainly resulted in a redistribution of sleep and wakefulness over light and darkness. Under long days the percentage of sleep during light was enhanced. The time course of delta power density in NREM sleep was characterized by a long rising part and a short falling part under long days, while a reversed picture emerged under short days. As a consequence, the power density during days. As a consequence, the power density during light was relatively high under long days. 3. After 24 h sleep deprivation by forced activity, no significant changes in the percentages of wakefulness and NREM were observed, whereas REM sleep was slightly enhanced. EEG power density, however, was significantly increased by ca. 50% in the 1.25-10.0 Hz range in the first 3 h of recovery sleep. This increase gradually decayed over the recovery night. 4. The same 24 h sleep deprivation technique led to a ca. 25% increase in oxygen consumption during recovery nights. While the results of the EEG spectral analysis are compatible with the hypothesis that delta power density reflects the 'intensity' of NREM sleep as enhanced by prior wakefulness and reduced by prior sleep, such enhanced sleep depth after sleep deprivation is not associated with reduced energy expenditure as might be anticipated by some energy conservation hypotheses on sleep function.  相似文献

以祁连山高寒干旱退化草地披针叶黄华(Thermopsis lanceolate)群落为研究对象,采取野外调查取样和室内分析相结合的方法,对群落土壤种子库与地上植被的关系进行了对比研究。结果表明:地上植被物种共调查出15种,土壤种子库检测出植物18种,地上植被阿尔泰针茅(S.krylovii)、赖草(A.dasystachys)和扁穗冰草等可食草以及不食草披针叶黄华和阿尔泰狗哇花(H.altaicus)优势度明显,其它物种不明显;土壤种子库与地上植被物种组成的相似性程度较低;土壤种子库与地上植被中可食草的物种数多于不食草,土壤种子库的物种数均不小于地上植被中的物种数,地上植被中存在而未在土壤种子库中检测到的可食草物种有阿尔泰针茅和赖草,土壤种子库中存在而地上植被中未被发现的物种有早熟禾(P.annua)、灰绿藜(C.glaucum)、碱韭(A.polyrhizum)、酸模(R.patientia)、独行菜(L.apetalum)和秦艽(G.macrophylla);原生禾草物种在可食草功能群中生物量所占比例较低,毒杂草物种生物量所占比例增加显著,而土壤种子库的数量百分含量较低;可食草与不食草的生物量在植被梯度下的变化呈显著负相关(r=-0.940,P=0.018),而土壤种子库密度变化无相关性;可食草生物量变化与其土壤种子库密度变化不相关,不食草生物量变化与其土壤种子库密度的增加呈显著正相关(r=0.902,P=0.036)。  相似文献

The spectral properties of the discrimination of pattern orientation in freely flying honeybees (Apis mellifera) were examined. Bees were trained to discriminate between two random black/white gratings oriented perpendicularly to each other, one of which was associated with a reward. Subsequently the bees were tested on two-colour gratings or gratings consisting of grey and coloured stripes, providing a range of different chromatic contrasts, luminance contrasts and specific channel contrasts. The results of these experiments indicate that orientation analysis in the honeybee is mediated almost exclusively by the green receptor channel, although the bee's visual system as a whole is endowed with excellent trichromatic colour vision.  相似文献

In this paper, 450 relevés of grassland vegetation of the Molinio-Arrhenatheretea class in northwest Croatia have been classified using the agglomerative Ward’s Method in the PC-ORD program. In the process of classification, the following seven groups were obtained: 1. Bromus erectus-Arrhenatherum elatius, 2. Arrhenatherum elatius, 3. Crepis biennis-Arrhenatherum elatius, 4. Luzula campestris-Holcus lanatus, 5. Deschampsia cespitosa-Betonica officinalis, 6. Equisetum palustre, 7. Oenanthe silaifolia-Alopecurus pratensis. The results of the classification for the most part correspond to the traditional syntaxonomic system. The plant communities with the largest number of relevés in the data set are the association Arrhenatheretum elatioris “typicum” (group 2) and the association Holcetum lanati (group 4). They represent the most anthropogenically influenced grasslands of the study area. In the analysis of the ecological factors by PCA in the CANOCO program it is established that separation of the relevés is influenced most greatly by moisture, followed by humus, temperature, light and soil reaction. From the standpoint of nature conservation, the wet meadows of the Molinietalia order are the most valuable, because of the notable diversity of species and communities, as well as a considerable number of threatened plant species.  相似文献

Summary l(1)su(f)mad-ts (mad) is a new temperature-sensitive (ts) lethal mutant ofDrosophila melanogaster which produces duplicated legs after temperature pulse treatment during larval development. The ts-lethality was studied in temperature experiments and genetic mosaics. Temperature pulses given during two distinct TSPs of larval development result in two different types of leg pattern duplication. Total differ from partial duplications with respect to the affected leg compartments and the orientation of the planes of symmetry which are perpendicular to the dorso-ventral and the proximo-distal leg axes in total and partial duplications, respectively. Genetic mosaic studies indicate (i) disc autonomy of leg pattern duplication, (ii) clonal separation of the anlagen of the two pattern copies, and (iii) clonal restriction along the antero-posterior compartment border in the two pattern copies of totally duplicated legs.The results suggest thatmad leg pattern duplication is caused by a change in positional information rather than by cell death and subsequent regeneration. Our data are compatible with the assumption that during normal development the leg disc cells acquire information about their position within the disc with respect to the different leg axes independently and at different times.  相似文献

Summary The effects ofpolyhomeotic (ph) mutants in imaginal cells have been studied in a clonal analysis. Clones of cells, homozygous forph, sort-out after a few divisions, probably as a consequence of modified cell affinities. The dorso-ventral margin of the wing has special characteristics that retard this phenomenon. The formation and exclusion of a clone of 8–16 cells affect the polarity of the wild-type neighbour cells and can provoke pattern triplications. The results suggest that a defect in intercellular communication prevents the wild-type cells from maintaining coordinated positional information. The cells react by regenerative growth, and reorganize into a new pattern. The pleiotropic phenotypes ofph mutants are explained according to a common hypothesis aboutph + function.  相似文献

Joint plots of species and site scores in correspondence analysis can be interpreted so that points which are in the same direction from the origin are closely associated. Species and site scores can thus be compared. Within each set of scores the location of points is also meaningful. Owing to the unimodal species response model which can be recovered by the correspondence analysis, the location of the species points in respect to the site points indicates the location of the optimum when direct weighted averages are used. However, when the eigenvalue of the solution is low, very different joint plots are derived when the set which is used for computing the weighted averages for the other set is changed. This makes the interpretation of the between-set proximities in the joint plot vague. Generally, it is not possible to deduce the species composition of a site or sites where a species occurs from the joint plot, although for some pairs of species and sites this is justified. Although the proximity interpretation is not possible in every case, a joint plot display can greatly enhance the interpretation of results.  相似文献

Two-dimensional spectral analyses of spatial patterns are made using (i) the autocorrelation function, (ii) the periodogram, and its polar summary (iii) the R-spectrum and (iv) the -spectrum. Together these give a sensitive analysis of both the complete range of scales of pattern and directional components which exist in data sets and we illustrate how the significance of observed spectral features can be assessed.We investigate the spatial pattern of Calluna vulgaris in a regenerating woodland and of Epilobium angustifolium spreading in a woodland following the thinning of trees. Evidence in the spectra is found for directional, clumping and inhibition patterns, and is discussed in relation to spectra obtained from simulations of known pattern generating processes. Hypotheses about the important biological, environmental and management influences on the structure of the communities are examined.We gratefully acknowledge the Swedish Coniferous Biome Project and Dr P. Summary In five South Swedish provinces the vertical distribution of species in Schoenus phytocoenoses, especially bryophytes, were studied by belt transects and analysed by RA. Results indicate that the sequence of bryophyte dominants: Scorpidium scorpioides-Drepanocladus revolvens-Campylium stellatum-Tomenthypnum nitens-Sphagnum fuscum reported by Du Rietz (1949) is distinctly developed in Uppland. A shorter sequence: Scorpidium scorpioides-Drepanocladus revolvens/Campylium stellatum-Ctenidium molluscum, is developed on Öland. In Skåne and Östergötland it is not possible to demonstrate any bryophyte sequence common to all transects and probable reasons for this are discussed. The distribution of the vascular plants confirmed the results of earlier investigations. 为探讨苦苣苔科植物对其岩溶生境的适应性,该研究选取黄花牛耳朵(Primulina lutea)、紫花报春苣苔(Pri.purpurea)和桂林蛛毛苣苔(Paraboea guilinensis)三种苦苣苔科植物,将其栽种在石灰土及红壤两种不同类型的土壤中,观测记录其生长性状并对其叶片元素含量进行测定和比较。植株采集过程中,同时采集自然生境中三种苦苣苔科植物叶片及取样植物基部土壤,并对叶片及土壤元素的含量进行测定,作为今后苗圃试验的参照。结果表明:三种苦苣苔科植物在两种土壤上的生长状况及适应性具有差异,其在石灰土上生长良好,在红壤上生长较差;在两种不同土壤中,除N外,桂林蛛毛苣苔的叶片其他元素(P、K、Mn、Mg、Ca、Zn、Cu)差异极显著(P0.01);除P外,紫花报春苣苔的叶片其他元素(N、K、Mn、Mg、Ca、Zn、Cu)差异极显著(P0.01);除N、Cu、Ca外,黄花牛耳朵的叶片元素(P、K、Mn、Mg、Zn)差异极显著(P0.01);三种植物的叶片元素比值,除少数值没有差异外,大部分指标差异都极显著;对叶片元素与栽培土壤元素的相关性分析,发现植物叶片Mn元素与土壤中N、Ca、Mg、Zn、Mn、有机质含量等呈正相关,土壤P元素与叶片中N、P元素呈正相关,而与叶片中Zn元素呈负相关关系。在其他栽培条件一致的条件下,土壤因素及物种差别是造成黄花牛耳朵、紫花报春苣苔和桂林蛛毛苣苔适应性产生差异的主要原因。  相似文献

为了查明青藏高原地区建植多年生禾本科人工草地对土壤线虫群落的影响及土壤线虫群落随人工草地建植年限增加的变化趋势,以川西北红原县2018年建植的垂穗披碱草样地(Elymus nutans)和老芒麦样地(Elymus sibiricus)为研究对象,以天然草地(Natural grassland)为对照,于2018—2020每年9月对土壤线虫群落、植被和土壤因子等进行连续监测。研究共分离到土壤线虫38470条,隶属于2纲8目65科172属,平均密度2482条/100g干土;食细菌线虫是研究样地的主要营养类群。垂穗披碱草和老芒麦样地的土壤线虫群落组成结构与天然草地间存在明显差异,但差异性随建植年限增加逐渐降低。线虫群落密度和多样性指数在垂穗披碱草、老芒麦和天然草地间均无显著差异。随建植年限增加,土壤线虫群落密度显著上升,Pielou指数显著下降,丰富度和Shannon指数无显著变化;植物寄生线虫密度和比例在第2年显著增加,并成为优势营养类群。线虫群落生态指数在不同草地类型间无显著差异,但垂穗披碱草和老芒麦样地的线虫基础指数随建植年限增加先增加,在第3年时显著降低(P<0.05)。冗余分...  相似文献
