<正>A starting point of curating bioinformatic resources for the public is marked by the establishment of the US National Center for Biotechnology Information(NCBI)in 1988[1].One of its many purposes is certainly to echo the initiative of the Human Genome Project(HGP)––when two landmark reports were published at the same time:‘‘Mapping and Sequencing the Human Genome’’by the National Research Council[2]and‘‘Mapping Our Genes––The Genome Project:How Big,How Fast?’’by the US Congress[3]. 相似文献

<正>A couple of years ago when Dr.Maynard V.Olson,my postdoctoral mentor, visited me(Figure 1),it came to my mind that since he is the only person involved in writing the two US National Research Council reports[1,2]that put forward the two landmark projects, the Human Genome Project(HGP)and the Precision Medicine Initiative(PMI),I should dig up 相似文献

A scientific dream proposed some 20 years ago has been realized-the completion of the DNA sequence for the Human Genome Project (HGP) in 2004. As a result, an entirely new field of biological research has arisen: genome biology or genomics is celebrated for its unprecedented scale, intrinsically digital output, and systematic approach to getting all the data. Its sequel, the HapMap Project, will reach fruition later this year. These projects established new precedents for international collaborations and open data access. Chinese scientists contributed to 1% of the 相似文献

正Medical genetics is defined as a branch of medicine that involves the diagnosis and management of hereditary disorders by applying genetics to medical care. The Human Genome Project, initiated in1990 and completed in 2004,has profoundly changed biology and is rapidly catalyzing a transformation of medical genetics and medicine in general(Collins and McKusick,2001;Green and Guyer,2011).Before the Human Genome Project, researchers 相似文献

The Human Genome Project (HGP), undoubtedly one of the greatest endeavors in the history of natural sciences, aims at determining the DNA sequence of the 3-billion-basepair human genome that holds an extraordinary trove of information about evolution, growth, and development of humans. China officially joined HGP and became one of the six member states of the International Human Genome Sequencing Con-sortium (IHGSC), alongside France, Germany, Japan, United Kingdom, and United State… 相似文献

正The year of 2018 marks the 65th anniversary of the discovery of DNA double helix and the 15th anniversary of the successful completion of the international Human Genome Project (HGP),the two revolutions in life sciences (Sharp, 2014). The year also sees the effective implementation of the "1%Program", the Chinese contribution to the reference sequence of the human genome, which coincides with the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Genetics Society of China, one of the most influential national academic organizations in China. 相似文献
