The nomenclatural history of Callarctia ornata Packard, 1864 and Arctia ornata Staudinger, 1896 is discussed. Both these nominal taxa are shown to be neither primary nor secondary homonyms. The nomenclature act of O. Sotavalta dealing with the homonymisation of Arctia ornata Staudinger 1896 should be considered as inadequate to the rules of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature. The nominal taxon, Arctia ornata Staudinger, 1896, should be considered as valid.  相似文献

Ammodesmidae are represented in western Africa by two species of a single genus, Ammodesmus Cook, 1896 (= Cenchrodesmus Cook, 1896, syn. n.). The type-species Ammodesmus granum Cook, 1896 (= Cenchrodesmus volutus Cook, 1896, syn. n.) is redescribed, based on neotype selection, as well as on additional samples, often containing numerous specimens, from Liberia, Guinea and the Ivory Coast. A new species is described from Mount Nimba, Guinea: Ammodesmus nimba sp. n.  相似文献

Potamolithus Pilsbry &; Rush, 1896 is a species-rich genus, endemic to South America, with many of its species considered Vulnerable due to a restricted distribution; half of them are called into question, since they are known only from their shells. The purpose of this article is to describe the anatomy of P. paranensis (Pilsbry, 1911 Pilsbry, H.A. (1911) Non-marine Mollusca of Patagonia. In: Scott, W.B. (Ed.), Reports of the Princeton University Expeditions to Patagonia, 1896–1899, Vol 3, Zoology, Part V. The University, USA, Princeton, NJ, pp. 513633. [Google Scholar]) and P. simplex (Pilsbry, 1911 Pilsbry, H.A. (1911) Non-marine Mollusca of Patagonia. In: Scott, W.B. (Ed.), Reports of the Princeton University Expeditions to Patagonia, 1896–1899, Vol 3, Zoology, Part V. The University, USA, Princeton, NJ, pp. 513633. [Google Scholar]) from the Argentinean Misiones province, and to evaluate the value of anatomical features in this genus. These two species differ in penis morphology and pigmentation, ctenidium length, and relative position of the opening of the pallial oviduct, seminal receptacle and bursa copulatrix. Consequently, it appears that anatomical data could help solve taxonomic conflicts that are currently unresolved by shell morphology alone.  相似文献

The new species Pseudentephria irinae Vasilenko, sp. n. is described. The records for three geometrid species, Xanthorhoe borealis Hulst, 1896, X. malaisei Djakonov, 1929, and Idaea rufaria (Hübner, [1799]), are given. The systematic position of X. malaisei is corrected. X. borealis in Russia and I. rufaria in Siberia were found for the first time. The distinctions in the coloration and pattern of the wings, as well as in the genital structures, between closely related species X. ferrugata, X. malaisei, and X. borealis are shown.  相似文献

Adelges (Cholodkovskya) viridanus (Cholodkovsky 1896) (Hemiptera: Adelgidae) is found throughout Eurasia where it is understood to be anholocyclic, feeding on species of larch (Larix), without host alternation. For the first time, we report this species in North America, outside of its native range, from specimens collected in an arboretum in Ohio, USA. Molecular phylogenetic analysis was inconclusive as to whether it was introduced from Europe or Asia. In addition, specimens collected from Picea jezoensis in Japan were confirmed for the first time as A. (C.) viridanus by matching DNA sequences to specimens collected on Larix. Therefore, A. (C.) viridanus is either capable of completing a host-alternating holocycle in Japan, or includes very recently diverged anholocyclic populations on Picea. Finally, we describe the adult fundatrix form, which was previously unknown.  相似文献

Age and growth of the hollowsnout grenadier was studied based on samples collected seasonally in the Agean Sea between March 2003 and January 2004. Total length ranged from 9.0 to 21.6 cm. Length–weight relationship was described as a = 0.0032, and b = 3.008. Age determinations based on otolith readings were between 1 and 10 years. The von Bertalanffy growth curve fitted to observed lengths‐at‐age provided parameters of L = 24.9 cm, k = 0.115 and to = ?3.494.

Phylogenetic interrelationships of 32 species belonging to 18 genera and four families of the superfamily Microphalloidea were studied using partial sequences of nuclear lsrDNA analysed by Bayesian inference and maximum parsimony. The resulting trees were well resolved at most nodes and demonstrated that the Microphalloidea, as represented by the present data-set, consists of three main clades corresponding to the families Lecithodendriidae, Microphallidae and Pleurogenidae + Prosthogonimidae. Interrelationships of taxa within each clade are considered; as a result of analysis of molecular and morphological data, Floridatrema Kinsella & Deblock, 1994 is synonymised with Maritrema Nicoll, 1907, Candidotrema Dollfus, 1951 with Pleurogenes Looss, 1896, and Schistogonimus Lühe, 1909 with Prosthogonimus Lühe, 1899. The taxonomic value of some morphological features, used traditionally for the differentiation of genera within the Lecithodendriidae and Prosthogonimidae, is reconsidered. Previous systematic schemes are discussed from the viewpoint of present results, and perspectives of future studies are outlined.  相似文献

Taxonomic revision of fish of the genus Liparis (Liparidae, Scorpaeniformes), whose species inhabit the shelves of the seas of the northern hemisphere, is performed on the basis of a a large collection of material. It is established that the genus, which includes 71 species, represents a monophyletic group. The classification of the genus is elaborated, providing justification of its separation into five subgenera: Neoliparis Steindachner, 1876; Lyoliparis Jordan et Evermann, 1896; Liparis Scopoli, 1777; Lycocara Gill, 1884; and Careliparis Garman, 1892. Keys to species and species groups are provided.  相似文献

Length–length and length–weight relationships were studied for four endemic Cyprinid species from the Küçük Menderes River Basin located in the Western Anatolian region of Turkey. Fish were sampled from Tahtal? and Beyda?? reservoirs, Bulgurca, ?a?al and Azmak streams during 2013–2014, using multimesh gillnets in the reservoirs and by electrofishing in the streams. First records of length–weight relationships for Barbus pergamonensis Karaman, 1971, Squalius kosswigi (Karaman, 1972) and Petroleuciscus smyrnaeus (Boulenger, 1896) are reported in addition to three new maximum total lengths for Chondrostoma holmwoodii (Boulenger, 1896), Squalius kosswigi (Karaman, 1972) and Petroleuciscus smyrnaeus (Boulenger, 1896).  相似文献

The apicomplexan family Barrouxiidae Léger, 1911 is reviewed and revised on the basis of present information. It includes the genera Barrouxia Schneider, 1885 with ten named species, Defretinella Henneré, 1966 with one named species, and Goussia Labbé, 1896 with 25 named species. The family is characterized by having bivalved sporocysts with a longitudinal suture line. Available information, admittedly spotty, is given for each species on oocyst, sporocyst and sporozoite structure, and on locus of sporulation. The following seven new combinations are made: Goussia flaviviridis (Setna & Bana, 1935) n. comb. in the gecko Hemidactylus flaviviridis; G. hyalina (Léger, 1898) n. comb. in an unidentified aquatic beetle; G. lacazei (Labbé, 1895) n. comb. in the centipedes Lithobius forficatus and L. martini; G. metchnikovi (Laveran, 1897) n. comb. in the gobies Gobio gobio and G. albipinnatus; G. schaudinniana (Pinto, 1928) n. comb. in the centipede Lithobius forficatus; G. stankovitchi (Pinto, 1928) n. comb. in the small bleak Alburnus alburnus, the bream Abramis brama, and the red roach Scardinius erythrophthalmus; Goussia sp. (Dogel' Akhmerov, 1959) nov. comb. in the freshwater fish Gnathopogon chankaensis.  相似文献

A new genus, Altihoratosphaga, is erected for species formerly assigned to Horatosphaga Schaum, 1853, and a new species is described. Four species are included in Altihoratosphaga: Altihoratosphaga nomima (Karsch, 1896), Altihoratosphaga montivaga ( Sjöstedt, 1909 ), Altihoratosphaga nou (Hemp, 2007) and Altihoratosphaga hanangensis sp. nov. All four species are restricted to Tanzanian localities, and, except for A. nomima, for which no ecological data are available, are confined to montane forest habitats. Data on ecology, acoustics, chromosomes, and molecular relationships are provided, as well as a key to Altihoratosphaga species. The present‐day distribution of Altihoratosphaga species suggests former migration events at times when wetter and colder climatic fluctuations favoured connections between montane forest communities, which today are isolated, enabling flightless taxa such as Altihoratosphaga and Monticolaria to spread. © 2010 The Linnean Society of London, Zoological Journal of the Linnean Society, 2010, 158 , 66–82.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The Caribbean blepharicerid fauna comprises three described species: Paltostoma palominoi Hogue and Garces, 1990, found in eastern Cuba; P. agyrocincta Curran, 1927, widespread in Puerto Rico; and P. schineri Williston, 1896, which occupies most major islands of the Lesser Antilles. In this paper, we describe P. portoricensis Hogue and Courtney, sp. n., a second species from Puerto Rico. We also provide keys to adults, pupae, and larvae of known Caribbean species, re-describe P. argyrocincta and P. schineri, and present a brief discussion of the bionomics and phylogenetic affinities of the net-winged midge fauna.  相似文献
