Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are chemical species that play an important role in determining the characteristic aroma and flavor of fruits. Apple (Malus × domestica Borkh .) cultivars differ in their aroma and composition of VOCs. To determine varietal differences in the aroma profiles, VOCs emitted by 7 modern and 35 old apple cultivars were analyzed using Proton Transfer Reaction Mass Spectrometry (PTR‐MS). PTR‐MS is a rapid, reproducible, and non‐destructive spectrometric technique for VOC analysis of single fruits, developed for direct injection analysis. In the present study, we analyzed the differences in the emission of VOCs from single fruits at harvest and after a storage period of 60±10 days, followed by 3 d of shelf life. Our results show that VOC profile differences among apple cultivars were more pronounced after storage than at harvest. Furthermore, chemodiversity was higher in old cultivars compared to modern cultivars, probably due to their greater genetic variability. Our data highlight the importance of storage and shelf life are crucial for the development of the typical aroma and flavor of several apple cultivars. The validity of the method is demonstrated by comparison of two different harvest years.  相似文献

Leaf and root essential oils of two closely related but ecologically distant Philodendron species were extracted in natural conditions in French Guiana and analysed by GC/MS to i) describe the blends of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) produced by those species and ii) analyse species and environment‐based variations in extracts composition. A total of 135 VOCs were detected with a majority of aliphatic sesquiterpenes. P. fragrantissimum produced mainly β‐bisabolene (on average 29.12% of the extract) as well as α‐ and β‐selinene (14.52% and 17.50%, respectively) while in P. melinonii, four aliphatic sesquiterpenes could alternatively be the main component: (E)‐β‐farnesene (up to 91.42% of the extract), germacrene‐D (73.74%), β‐caryophyllene (51.63%) and transα‐bergamotene (41.26%). A significant effect of species and organs on extracts composition was observed while the environment (sun exposure) only affected the relative proportions of monoterpenes and sesquiterpenes in roots of Pmelinonii. These results are discussed in the light of the potential role of leaf and root terpenes in Philodendron species.  相似文献

8‐Prenylnaringenin (8PN) is a naturally occurring bioactive chiral prenylflavonoid found most commonly in the female flowers of hops (Humulus lupulus L.). A stereospecific method of analysis for 8PN in biological fluids is necessary to study the pharmacokinetic disposition of each enantiomer. A novel and simple liquid chromatographic‐electrospray ionization‐mass spectrometry (LC‐ESI‐MS) method was developed for the simultaneous determination of R‐ and S‐8PN in rat serum and urine. Carbamazepine was used as the internal standard (IS). Enantiomeric resolution of 8PN was achieved on a Chiralpak® AD‐RH column with an isocratic mobile phase consisting of 2‐propanol and 10 mM ammonium formate (pH 8.5) (40:60, v/v) and a flow rate of 0.7 mL/min. Detection was achieved using negative selective ion monitoring (SIM) of 8PN at m/z 339.15 for both enantiomers and positive SIM m/z at 237.15 for the IS. The calibration curves for urine were linear over a range of 0.01–75 µg/mL and 0.05–75 µg/mL for serum with a limit of quantification of 0.05 µg/mL in serum and 0.01 µg/mL in urine. The method was successfully validated showing that it was sensitive, reproducible, and accurate for enantiospecific quantification of 8PN in biological matrices. The assay was successfully applied to a preliminary study of 8PN enantiomers in rat. Chirality 26:419–426, 2014. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

Quality control of ginseng currently is mainly based on ginsenoside analysis, but rarely focuses on the volatile organic components. In the current work, an untargeted metabolomics approach, by headspace solid-phase micro-extraction gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (HS-SPME-GC/MS), was elaborated and further employed to holistically compare the compositional difference of the volatile components simultaneously from 12 Panax herbal medicines, which included P. ginseng (PG), P. quinquefolius (PQ), P. notoginseng (PN), red ginseng (PGR), P. ginseng leaf (PGL), P. quinquefolius leaf (PQL), P. notoginseng leaf (PNL), P. ginseng flower (PGF), P. quinquefolius flower (PQF), P. notoginseng flower (PNF), P. japonicus (PJ), and P. japonicus var. major (PJvm). Chromatographic separation was performed on an HP-5MS elastic quartz capillary column using helium as the carrier gas, enabling good resolution within 1 h. We were able to characterize totally 259 volatile compounds, including 82 terpenes (T), 46 alcohols (Alc), 29 ketones (K), 25 aldehydes (Ald), 21 esters (E), and the others. By analyzing 90 batches of ginseng samples based on the untargeted metabolomics workflows, 236 differential ions were unveiled, and accordingly 36 differential volatile components were discovered. It is the first report that simultaneously compares the compositional difference of volatile components among 12 Panax herbal medicines, and useful information is provided for the quality control of ginseng aside from the well-known ginsenosides.  相似文献

Eight propolis samples from Croatia were analyzed in detail, to study the headspace, volatiles, anti‐Varroa‐treatment residue, phenolics, and antioxidant properties. The samples exhibited high qualitative/quantitative variability of the chemical profiles, total phenolic content (1,589.3–14,398.3 mg GAE (gallic acid equivalent)/l EtOH extract), and antioxidant activity (11.1–133.5 mmol Fe2+/l extract and 6.2–65.3 mmol TEAC (Trolox® equivalent antioxidant capacity)/l extract). The main phenolics quantified by HPLC‐DAD at 280 and 360 nm were vanillin, p‐coumaric acid, ferulic acid, chrysin, galangin, and caffeic acid phenethyl ester. The major compounds identified by headspace solid‐phase microextraction (HS‐SPME), simultaneous distillation extraction (SDE), and subsequent GC‐FID and GC/MS analyses were α‐eudesmol (up to 19.9%), β‐eudesmol (up to 12.6%), γ‐eudesmol (up to 10.5%), benzyl benzoate (up to 28.5%), and 4‐vinyl‐2‐methoxyphenol (up to 18.1%). Vanillin was determined as minor constituent by SDE/GC‐FID/MS and HPLC‐DAD. The identified acaricide residue thymol was ca. three times more abundant by HS‐SPME/GC‐FID/MS than by SDE/GC‐FID/MS and was not detected by HPLC‐DAD.  相似文献
