By use of Bayesian statistical inference and allelic data for 18 microsatellite loci, we analyzed the genetic structure of Chinese, Korean, and Japanese pear cultivars and of native populations of Pyrus ussuriensis. Although Japanese pear cultivars had a simple genetic structure, Chinese and Korean pear cultivars were admixures of Japanese pear and native P. ussuriensis from the Asian continent. Genetic differentiation between groups of native populations and those of cultivars was high, but cultivars were not well differentiated from each other. Chinese and Korean cultivars, which have traditionally been classified as either P. ussuriensis, P. bretschneideri, or P. pyrifolia, were much closer to Japanese cultivars, which have traditionally been classified as P. pyrifolia, than to native P. ussuriensis. We propose a new classification of cultivars by using the Group concept in accordance with the International Nomenclature for Cultivated Plants, namely, the Pyrus Ussurian pear group, the Pyrus Chinese white pear group, the Pyrus Chinese sand pear group, and the Pyrus Japanese pear group.  相似文献

The oral toxicity of the symbiotic bacteria Photorhabdus temperata was investigated in various developmental stages of Paratlanticus ussuriensis. Supernatants of Photorhabdus culture medium were mixed into an artificial diet, which was fed to various stages of immature nymphs and adults of P. ussuriensis. Mortality was highest in the first instar nymph but decreased in older stages of immature nymphs. Adult females were not killed upon oral ingestion of P. ussuriensis, but their fecundity was significantly inhibited to 29.3% of that of control. In addition, the effects of oral ingestion of the symbiont culture media on the expression rates of three heat shock protein 70 genes (hsp70a, hsp70b, and hsp70c) in third instar nymphs of P. ussuriensis were determined by quantitative real-time RT-PCR analysis. There were no significant changes in expression levels in comparison with control, which suggests that hsp genes may not be associated with the mechanism of Photorhabdus toxicity. Our results imply that Photorhabdus culture media is highly effective in killing younger immature nymphs and also suppressing adult reproduction of P. ussuriensis.  相似文献

Pseudobagrus ussuriensis is an aquaculture catfish with significant sexual dimorphism. In this study, a chromosome-level genome with a size of 741.97 Mb was assembled for female P. ussuriensis. A total of 26 chromosome-level contigs covering 97.34% of the whole-genome assembly were obtained with an N50 of 28.53 Mb and an L50 of 11. A total of 24,075 protein-coding genes were identified, with 91.54% (22,039) genes being functionally annotated. Based on the genome assembly, four chromosome evolution clusters of catfishes were identified and the formation process of P. ussuriensis chromosomes was predicted. A total of 55 sex-related quantitative trait loci (QTLs) with a phenotypic variance explained value of 100% were located on chromosome 8 (chr08). The QTLs and other previously identified sex-specific markers were located in a sex-determining region of 16.83 Mb (from 6.90 to 23.73 Mb) on chr08, which was predicted as the X chromosome. The sex-determining region comprised 554 genes, with 135 of which being differently expressed between males and females/pseudofemales, and 16 candidate sex-determining genes were screened out. The results of this study provided a useful chromosome-level genome for genetic, genomic and evolutionary studies of P. ussuriensis, and also be useful for further studies on sex-determination mechanism analysis and sex-control breeding of this fish.  相似文献

Hybridization between native and cultivated species is a concern in conservation biology. However, detecting such hybridization and distinguishing true natives from prehistorically naturalized species based on phenotypic characteristics is difficult. Here, we report on introgression between native and prehistorically introduced pear (Pyrus) species in Northern Tohoku (northern end of Honshu Island), Japan. We analyzed 20 microsatellites in 226 wild, seemingly wild, or cultivated materials. Phenetic analysis showed that wild Japanese populations of P. ussuriensis var. ussuriensis in Northern Tohoku, previously considered true natives based on morphology and phytogeography, differed from those in continental Asia, confirming their nativeness. However, Bayesian inference of population structures showed that Japanese P. ussuriensis was genetically admixed with two genetic clusters: true native P. ussuriensis var. ussuriensis and prehistorically introduced P. pyrifolia. Even in the Kitakami Mountains, where true native populations of var. ussuriensis are believed to persist, most wild trees were at least somewhat admixed. Prehistorically introduced then naturalized plants are treated as natives in Japan’s conservation management, and some are considered endangered. However, introgression of prehistorically naturalized P. pyrifolia into threatened native P. ussuriensis var. ussuriensis has occurred. Attagenus hyrcanus sp. n. differs from A. punctatus (Scop.) in the structure of the male antennae and aedeagus. Anthrenus montanus sp. n. can be distinguished from A. scrophulariae (L.) by the structure of the antennae, aedeagus, and sternite IX, and by the coloration of scales on the dorsal surface and metepisterna. Attagenus pulcher Fald. is a subspecies of A. tigrinus (F.). The name Anthrenus amoenulus araraticus Zhant. is resurrected. Some additional data on the distribution of Attagenus dispar (Redt.), Megatoma ussuriensis Mrocz. Paratlanticus ussuriensis eggs overwinter by entering diapause, which can be prolonged to more than 1 year depending on environmental conditions. To determine temperature effects on diapause duration of P. ussuriensis eggs, the rates of embryonic development and hatching were compared at various temperatures conditions by measuring embryonic stages and egg weights. Most eggs stayed in a very young stage (blastoderm formation, stage 4) when reared at 15 and 20 °C, 10–30% eggs developed into middle or late stages when reared at 25 °C, and most embryos developed fully (stage 23/24) when reared at 30 °C. Egg weight at 30 °C was 1.5 times higher than those reared at 20 °C. Chilling induced hatching in embryos at stage 23/24. Chilling caused stage 4 embryos to develop into stage 24, but they failed to hatch in response to a second warm period. Thus, P. ussuriensis eggs can overwinter either as young embryos (initial diapause) or as fully-developed embryos (final diapause). Eggs that experience an initial diapause overwinter again the second year in a final stage diapause. The post-diapause period was shorter when embryos overwintered in a final stage diapause. The hatching rate was highest in a temperature range of 7.5–15 °C. Our results suggest that temperature is an important environmental factor for the control of prolonged diapause in P. ussuriensis and initial diapause plays an important role in the control of its life cycle.  相似文献

Four species of pearl mussels inhabit the Amur River basin: Dahurinaia prozarovae Bog. et Star. in: Bog et al., 2003; D. dahurica (Midd, 1850); D. ussuriensis Bog., Proz. et Star., 2003; and D. tiunovae Bog. et Star., 1988. The name of Dahurinaia transbaicalica Klishko, 2008 is shown to be a synonym for D. ussuriensis. The finding of D. sujfunensis Moskv., 1973 in the Upper Amur basin turned out to be questionable.  相似文献

One mechanism for morphologically similar and sympatric species to avoid competition and facilitate coexistence is to feed on different prey items within different microhabitats. In the current study, we investigated and compared the diet of the two most common and similar‐sized bat species in Japan—Murina ussuriensis (Ognev, 1913) and Myotis ikonnikovi (Ognev, 1912)—to gain more knowledge about the degree of overlap in their diet and their foraging behavior. We found that both bat species consumed prey from the orders of Lepidoptera and Diptera most frequently, while the proportion of Dipterans was higher in the diet of M. ikonnikovi. Furthermore, we found a higher prey diversity in the diet of M. ikonnikovi compared to that of M. ussuriensis that might indicate that the former is a more generalist predator than the latter. In contrast, the diet of M. ussuriensis contained many Lepidopteran families. The higher probability of prey items likely captured via gleaning to occur in the diet of M. ussuriensis in contrast to M. ikonnikovi indicates that M. ussuriensis might switch between aerial‐hawking and gleaning modes of foraging behavior. We encourage further studies across various types of habitats and seasons to investigate the flexibility of the diet composition and foraging behavior of these two bat species.  相似文献

The bluegrass webworm moth Parapediasia teterrella (Zincken, 1821) is a notorious pest that is native to North America. However, it has invaded East Asia and has caused serious economic losses in China and Japan. The objective of this paper is to analyse the potential geographic distribution of P. teterrella in East Asia with MaxEnt, using predictor variables related to temperature and precipitation. It is suggested that this species has potential to establish in Southeast China, most areas of Jeollanam-do, eastern coastal region of South Korea, and most areas of Japan. Furthermore, we applied the Jackknife test to evaluate the significance of climatic variables in modelling the potential distribution of P. teterrella. The result indicates that annual mean temperature (Bio1), mean temperature of the coldest quarter (Bio11) and precipitation of the coldest quarter (Bio19) mainly affect its geographical distribution. A map showing the potential distribution of P. teterrella in East Asia is provided, and morphological diagnosis of the species is also given.  相似文献

Using five SSR markers, polymorphism of microsatellite loci was examined in 46 cultivars and five species of pear (Pyrus ussuriensis, P. bretscgneideri, P. pyraster, and P. elaegnifolia). Most of the accessions examined showed the presence of unique allele sets. The degree of relationship between Russian and Western European pear cultivar was established. It was demonstrated that P. ussuriensis and its first generation progeny were genetically distant from typical cultivars of P. communis, as well as from the P. communis × P. ussuriensis hybrids of later generations. SSR estimates of the cultivar relatedness were shown to correlate with the corresponding pedigree-based estimates. A number of SSR alleles specific to P. ussuriensis were identified. Based on the analysis of microsatellite loci, the allelic composition was determined for each cultivar examined. These data can serve as a molecular certificate of the cultivar.  相似文献

Water guns have shown the potential to repel nuisance aquatic organisms. This study examines the effects of exposure to a 1966.4 cm3 seismic water gun array (two guns) on the abundance and behavior of Bighead Carp Hypophthalmichthys nobilis, Silver Carp H. molitrix (collectively referred to as bigheaded carp) and native fishes (e.g., Smallmouth Buffalo Ictiobus bubalus). Water guns were deployed in a channel that connects the Illinois River to backwater quarry pits that contained a large transient population of bigheaded carp. To evaluate the effect of water guns, mobile side-looking split-beam hydroacoustic surveys were conducted before, during and between replicated water gun firing periods. Water guns did not affect abundance of bigheaded carp, but abundance of native fish detected during the firing treatment was 43 and 34% lower than the control and water guns off treatments, respectively. The proximity of bigheaded carp to the water gun array was similar between the water guns on and water guns off treatments. In contrast, the closest detected native fish were detected farther from the water guns during the water guns on treatment (mean ± SE, 32.38 ± 3.32 m) than during the water guns off treatment (15.04 ± 1.59 m). The water gun array had a greater impact on native fish species than on bigheaded carp. Caution should be taken to the extrapolation of these results to other fish species and to fish exposed to water guns in different environments (e.g., reduced shoreline interaction) or exposure to a larger array of water guns, or for use of water guns for purposes other than a barrier.  相似文献

The bees of the Peponapis genus (Eucerini, Apidae) have a Neotropical distribution with the center of species diversity located in Mexico and are specialized in Cucurbita plants, which have many species of economic importance, such as squashes and pumpkins. Peponapis fervens is the only species of the genus known from southern South America. The Cucurbita species occurring in the same area as P. fervens include four domesticated species (C. ficifolia, C. maxima maxima, C. moschata and C. pepo) and one non-domesticated species (Cucurbita maxima andreana). It was suggested that C. m. andreana was the original pollen source to P. fervens, and this bee expanded its geographical range due to the domestication of Cucurbita. The potential geographical areas of these species were determined and compared using ecological niche modeling that was performed with the computational system openModeller and GARP with best subsets algorithm. The climatic variables obtained through modeling were compared using Cluster Analysis. Results show that the potential areas of domesticated species practically spread all over South America. The potential area of P. fervens includes the areas of C. m. andreana but reaches a larger area, where the domesticated species of Cucurbita also occur. The Cluster Analysis shows a high climatic similarity between P. fervens and C. m. andreana. Nevertheless, P. fervens presents the ability to occupy areas with wider ranges of climatic variables and to exploit resources provided by domesticated species.  相似文献

The ability to identify the spatial distribution of economically important fungal species is crucial for understanding the environmental factors that affect them and for conservation management. A potentially valuable approach for this is maximum entropy (Maxent) spatial distribution modeling, which was applied here to map the potential distribution of three “Sanghuang” mushrooms in China, which include Phellinus baumii, Phellinus igniarius and Phellinus vaninii. Nineteen WorldClim bioclimatic variables, with corresponding altitude data, and 89 spatially well-dispersed species occurrence records were used in the modeling. The relative importance of the environmental variables was evaluated by Jackknife tests in the modeling analysis. The maximum entropy models obtained have high Area Under Receiver Operating Characteristic Curve (AUC) values: 0.956, 0.967 and 0.960, for P. baumii, P. igniarius and P. vaninii, respectively. The bioclimatic variable that most strongly affected distributions of P. baumii and P. vaninii was precipitation in the warmest quarter, while the mean temperature in the warmest quarter affected the distribution of P. igniarius most strongly. Overall, these models could provide valuable help in searching for the target species in areas where it is hitherto unknown, and be the reference of conservation measures for these medicinal fungal species.  相似文献

Pear accessions and species show a broad response to tissue culture media due to the wide genetic diversity that exists in the available pear germplasm. An initial study of mineral nutrition using a systematic response surface approach with five Murashige and Skoog medium mineral stock solutions indicated that the mesos factor (CaCl2, MgSO4, and KH2PO4) affected most plant responses and genotypes, suggesting that additional studies were needed to further optimize these three mesos components for a wide range of genotypes. Short stature, leaf spots, edge necrosis, and red or yellow coloration were the main symptoms of poor nutrition in shoot cultures of 10 diverse pear genotypes from six species. A surface response experimental design was used to model the optimal factor and factor levels for responses that included overall quality, leaf character, shoot multiplication, and shoot height. The growth morphology, shoot length, and multiplication of these pear shoots could be manipulated by adjusting the mesos components. The highest quality for the majority of genotypes, including five P. communis cultivars, P. koehnei, P. dimorphophylla, and P. pyrifolia ‘Sion Szu Mi’, required higher concentrations (>1.2× to 2.5×) of all the components than are present in Murashige and Skoog medium. ‘Capital’ (P. calleryana) required high CaCl2 and MgSO4 with low KH2PO4; for ‘Hang Pa Li’ (P. ussuriensis), low CaCl2 and moderate to low MgSO4 and KH2PO4 produced high-quality shoots. Suitable combinations of the meso nutrients produced both optimum shoot number and shoot length in addition to general good plant quality.  相似文献

Fire blight, caused by the gram-negative bacteriumErwinia amylovora (Burrill) Winslow et al., is a dangerous disease of pome fruits, including pear. A pear breeding program for fire blight resistance was initiated in 2003 at the Department of Pomology, Warsaw University of Life Sciences, Poland. Since several Asian species are considered to be potential sources of resistance to fire blight, the susceptiblePyrus communis ‘Doyenne du Comice’ was crossed with the resistantP. ussuriensis. The F1 full-sib progeny composed of 155 seedlings was tested for susceptibility to fire blight by artificial shoot inoculation. A framework linkage map of both parents was constructed based on 48 AFLP and 32 SSR markers and covered a length of 595 cM and 680 cM in ‘Doyenne du Comice’ andP. ussuriensis, respectively. For the first time a putative QTL for fire blight resistance inP. ussuriensis linkage group 11 was identified. Another putative QTL in linkage group 4 of ‘Doyenne du Comice’ seems to indicate that sources of fire blight resistance can be identified also in the susceptible cultivars.  相似文献

Phenacoccus manihoti Matile-Ferrero (Hemiptera: Pseudococcidae), one of the most serious pests of cassava worldwide, has recently reached Asia, raising significant concern over its potential spread throughout the region. To support management decisions, this article reports recent distribution records, and estimates the climatic suitability for its regional spread using a CLIMEX distribution model. The article also presents a taxonomic key that separates P. manihoti from all other mealybug species associated with the genus Manihot. Model predictions suggest P. manihoti imposes an important, yet differential, threat to cassava production in Asia. Predicted risk is most acute in the southern end of Karnataka in India, the eastern end of the Ninh Thuan province in Vietnam, and in most of West Timor in Indonesia. The model also suggests P. manihoti is likely to be limited by cold stress across Vietnam''s northern regions and in the entire Guangxi province in China, and by high rainfall across the wet tropics in Indonesia and the Philippines. Predictions should be particularly important to guide management decisions for high risk areas where P. manihoti is absent (e.g., India), or where it has established but populations remain small and localized (e.g., South Vietnam). Results from this article should help decision-makers assess site-specific risk of invasion, and develop proportional prevention and surveillance programs for early detection and rapid response.  相似文献

Data on two species of the subgenus Baudia Ragusa, 1884, B. ishigakiensis Habu, 1975 and B. marginellus Bates, 1873 new to the fauna of the southern Sikhote-Alin Mountains, are presented. A key to species of this subgenus is provided. Holotypes of B. nigriceps A. Morawitz, 1863 and B. ussuriensis Jedli?ka, 1937 are designated. Length–weight relationships (LWRs) were estimated for five fish species in the Fuyuan reach of the middle reaches of Heilongjiang River, northeast China. Fishes were captured using a variety of nets (i.e. drift gill net, set net, fishing cage, fishing jig and fishhook). In addition to November–April, samples were collected monthly from May 2013 to October 2014. The five species were: Lethenteron reissneri, Pelteobagrus ussuriensis, Hemibarbus maculates, Xenocypris macrolepis and Chanodichthys erythropterus. LWRs for Lethenteron reissneri and Pelteobagrus ussuriensis were unknown to FishBase. The a values obtained ranged from 0.0019 (Lethenteron reissneri) to 0.0177 (Pelteobagrus ussuriensis), and b values ranged from 2.710 (Pelteobagrus ussuriensis) to 3.397 (Chanodichthys erythropterus).  相似文献
