Background  

Gram-negative bacteria cause most nosocomial respiratory infections. At the University of Cumhuriyet, we examined 328 respiratory isolates of Enterobacteriaceae and Acinetobacter baumanii organisms in Sivas, Turkey over 3 years. We used disk diffusion or standardized microdilution to test the isolates against 18 antibiotics.  相似文献

A numerical taxonomic study of 64 strains of anaerobic Gram-negative bacilli isolated from men with non-gonococcal urethritis, two unclassified laboratory strains of 'corroding bacilli', and 12 other strains of anaerobic Gram-negative bacilli, including nine received as anaerobic curved rods and three as 'Bacteroides corrodens' (B. ureolyticus), isolated from women with bacterial vaginosis, was undertaken. Seventeen reference anaerobic strains belonging to the genera Bacteroides, Fusobacterium, Mobiluncus, Mitsuokella and Wolinella were included. Morphological, biochemical and physiological characteristics were examined in 103 tests. The resemblance between the 95 strains was calculated using the SSM, SJ and DP coefficients for cluster analyses based on the UPGMA method. All three approaches gave similar groupings, and the estimated average probability of test error was 2.46%. The strains fell into 10 phenons. The unclassified strains from men and three from women with lower genital-tract infections, and the laboratory strains of 'corroding bacilli' clustered in one phenon with the reference strains of B. ureolyticus, indicating that they correspond to B. ureolyticus. The other unclassified strains of anaerobic curved rods clustered as a distinct phenon. They correspond to species of the newly described genus Mobiluncus. The taxonomic data and the compilation of diagnostic tables serve as a useful guide for the laboratory identification of clinical isolates regarded as B. ureolyticus.  相似文献

A total of 2,445 gram-negative bacteria belonging to fecal coliform, Pseudomonas, Moraxella, Acinetobacter, and Flavobacterium-Cytophaga groups were isolated from the rivers and bay of Tillamook, Oregon, and their resistances to chloramphenicol (25 microgram/ml), streptomycin (10 microgram/ml), ampicillin (10 microgram/ml), tetracycline (25 microgram/ml), chlortetracycline (25 microgram/ml), oxytetracycline (25 microgram/ml), neomycin (50 microgram/ml), nitrofurazone (12.5 microgram/ml), nalidixic acid (25 microgram/ml), kanamycin (25 microgram/ml), and penicillin G (10 IU/ml) were determined. Among fecal coliforms the bay isolates showed greater resistance to antibiotics than those from tributaries or surface runoff. No such well-defined difference was found among other bacterial groups. The antibiotic resistance patterns of gram-negative bacteria from different sources correlated well, perhaps indicating their common origin. The antibiotic resistance patterns of gram-negative bacteria of different general also correlated well, perhaps indicating that bacteria which share a common environment also share a common mode for developing antibiotic resistance.  相似文献

Temporal changes of antibiotic susceptibilities among anaerobes in France are followed in our laboratory since 1992. For Bacteroides strains, resistance increased from 1992 to 1998 for amoxicillin-clavulanic acid, cefotetan and clindamycin. The present study evaluates the situation in 2000 for 434 Gram-negative anaerobic clinical isolates (obtained from 9 large university hospitals) by testing amoxicillin and ticarcillin alone or combined with clavulanic acid, cefoxitin, cefotetan, imipenem, clindamycin and metronidazole (using the NCCLS-approved method for MIC determination. The main genera tested included Bacteroides (359 strains of the fragilis group), Prevotella (40 strains), Fusobacterium (23 strains) and miscellaneous species (8 strains). Resistance rates within the B. fragilis group were: amoxicillin-clavulanic acid 5.6%, ticarcillin 33%, ticarcillin-clavulanic acid 2%, cefoxitin 13%, cefotetan 44%, clindamycin 33%, imipenem 1% and metronidazole <1%, respectively. Only one strain of B. fragilis was resistant to metronidazole (MIC=64 mg/L); due to the presence of the nimA gene on the chromosome. Resistance to imipenem or metronidazole was only found among the B. fragilis species. These two former drugs excepted, B. fragilis was less resistant to antibiotics than the other species. beta-lactamase production was detected for 357/359 strains of the fragilis group, 26/40 stains of Prevotella and 3/23 strains of Fusobacterium. Dynamic changes of antibacterial resistance are occurring within the B. fragilis group: decreased resistance to amoxicillin-clavulanic acid, ticarcillin-clavulanic acid, imipenem while resistance for cefoxitin, cefotetan, clindamycin continues to increase. Regular antibiotic surveys are needed as a source of information to guide the empirical therapy of anaerobic infections.  相似文献

目的 对重庆医科大学附属第二医院2001年1月1日至2009年12月31日10年临床标本中分离的主要革兰阴性杆菌耐药性变化进行分析,为临床合理用药提供依据.方法 采用回顾性方法对十年间大肠埃希菌、肺炎克雷伯菌、铜绿假单胞菌和不动杆菌的药敏结果用WHONET 5.4软件进行统计分析.结果 大肠埃希菌、肺炎克雷伯菌对亚胺培南耐药率小于5%;对阿米卡星、哌拉西林/他唑巴坦、头孢吡肟耐药率小于30%;对三代头孢、头孢西丁和氨曲南耐药率为40%左右;对青霉素类、喹诺酮类和磺胺类耐药率大于50%.铜绿假单胞菌对头孢他啶、头孢吡肟和亚胺培南耐药率小于40%;对其余监测抗生素耐药率大于50%.不动杆菌属对亚胺培南耐药率小于25%(2009年除外),对其余监测抗生素耐药率很高,维持在50% ~ 96%.铜绿假单胞菌、鲍曼不动杆菌泛耐药菌检出率分别为0~14%和0~48%.结论 革兰阴性杆菌对常用抗菌药物的耐药已非常普遍,且有逐年升高的趋势;肠杆菌科对碳青霉烯类、阿米卡星、哌拉西林/他唑巴坦、头孢吡肟耐药率相对较低;非发酵菌耐药性增加明显,铜绿假单胞菌、不动杆菌泛耐菌增加明显;严格控制抗菌药物的应用及耐药菌和泛耐药菌的传播和爆发流行已迫在眉睫.  相似文献

The antimicrobial susceptibility of 176 unusual non-fermentative gram-negative bacilli (NF-GNB) collected from Latin America region through the SENTRY Program between 1997 and 2002 was evaluated by broth microdilution according to the National Committee for Clinical Laboratory Standards (NCCLS) recommendations. Nearly 74% of the NF-BGN belonged to the following genera/species: Burkholderia spp. (83), Achromobacter spp. (25), Ralstonia pickettii (16), Alcaligenes spp. (12), and Cryseobacterium spp. (12). Generally, trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole (MIC50, < 0.5 microg/ml) was the most potent drug followed by levofloxacin (MIC50, 0.5 microg/ml), and gatifloxacin (MIC50, 1 microg/ml). The highest susceptibility rates were observed for levofloxacin (78.3%), gatifloxacin (75.6%), and meropenem (72.6%). Ceftazidime (MIC50, 4 microg/ml; 83.1% susceptible) was the most active beta-lactam against B. cepacia. Against Achromobacter spp. isolates, meropenem (MIC50, 0.25 microg/ml; 88% susceptible) was more active than imipenem (MIC50, 2 microg/ml). Cefepime (MIC50, 2 microg/ml; 81.3% susceptible), and imipenem (MIC50, 2 microg/ml; 81.3% susceptible) were more active than ceftazidime (MIC50, >16 microg/ml; 18.8% susceptible) and meropenem (MIC50, 8 microg/ml; 50% susceptible) against Ralstonia pickettii. Since selection of the most appropriate antimicrobial agents for testing and reporting has not been established by the NCCLS for many of NF-GNB species, results from large multicenter studies may help to guide the best empiric therapy.  相似文献

Antibiotic resistance of 132 strains of nonfermenting gram-negative bacteria (NGNB) was studied. 43, 20, 17, 14 and 12 of them belonged to Acinetobacter calcoaceticus (anitratus and lwoffi), Pseudomonas cepacia, Alcaligenes faecalis, P. stutzeri and P. maltophilia, respectively. With rare exceptions all the strains were resistant to benzylpenicillin, oxacillin, lincomycin, ampicillin and cephaloridine. Sensitivity to the other antibiotics varied within wide ranges. Amikacin (94.3 per cent) and tobramycin (90.8 per cent), as well as polymyxin, rifampicin and gentamicin (71.7-66.9 per cent) had the highest effect. The majority of the antibiotics had higher activity (p less than 0.01) against the tested NGNB as compared to their activity against P. aeruginosa. Antibioticograms of every of the tested species of NGNB revealed that P. cepacia and P. stutzeri were the most resistant species. The biovars of Acinetobacter varied in their antibiotic resistance: A. subsp. lwoffi was more sensitive to the majority of the antibiotics though some of them, i.e. doxycycline, carbenicillin, and polymyxin were more active against A. subsp. anitratus.  相似文献

Commonly isolated anaerobic gram-negative rods (4 genus 64 strains), some other important gram-negative anaerobic species (9 genus 45 strains), and cigar-shaped clostridia (11 strains) were studied on their susceptibility patterns to 6 agents on "Microring AN". Some modifications were made in the methods and interpretation of results. Susceptibility patterns to erythromycin, rifampicin, colistin, benzylpenicillin, kanamycin, and vancomycin were following (sensitive [S], intermediate [I], resistant [R], variable [V]): for Bacteroides fragilis group, V, S, R, R, R, R, respectively; for non-pigmented Prevotella, V, S, V, V, R, R, respectively; for pigmented Prevotella, S, S, SR, V, V, R, respectively: for Fusobacterium nucleatum/necrophorum, R(S), S(I), S(IR), S(R), S, R, respectively; and for F. varium, R, R, S/I, R(S), S, R, respectively. Some results were different from that in the data table in the instruction of "Microring AN", because of differences of methodology and changes of susceptibility of those species during years. As to the other groups, that are not included in the data table in the instruction, results were following: for Bilophila wadsworthia, R, R, S, R, S, R, respectively; Desulfovibrio, V, R(S), R, R, S, R, respectively; for cigar-shaped clostridia, V, S(R), R, R, S(R), S, respectively. "Microring AN" was useful for presumptive identification in genus, species, or group level, though morphological observation and some additional simple tests such as bile-sensitivity and catalase were essential.  相似文献

A survey of starter and probiotic cultures was carried out to determine the current antibiotic resistance situation in microbial food additives in Switzerland. Two hundred isolates from 90 different sources were typed by molecular and other methods to belong to the genera Lactobacillus (74 samples), Staphylococcus (33 samples), Bifidobacterium (6 samples), Pediococcus (5 samples), or were categorized as lactococci or streptococci (82 samples). They were screened for phenotypic resistances to 20 antibiotics by the disk diffusion method. Twenty-seven isolates exhibiting resistances that are not an intrinsic feature of the respective genera were further analyzed by microarray hybridization as a tool to trace back phenotypic resistances to specific genetic determinants. Their presence was finally verified by PCR amplification or Southern hybridization. These studies resulted in the detection of the tetracycline resistance gene tet(K) in 5 Staphylococcus isolates used as meat starter cultures, the tetracycline resistance gene tet(W) in the probiotic cultures Bifidobacterium lactis DSM 10140 and Lactobacillus reuteri SD 2112 (residing on a plasmid), and the lincosamide resistance gene lnu(A) (formerly linA) in L. reuteri SD 2112.  相似文献

An antimicrobial substance was isolated from the culture fluid of Vibrio fischeri belonging to ++gram-negative sea bacteria. The substance was shown to be highly active against ++gram-positive cocci and less active against some other ++gram-positive bacteria and fungi. The active substance was defined as a low molecular weight compound which appeared to be thermostable and had positive ninhydrin reaction. The antibiotic formed when the culture was grown in the media containing sea water and protein hydrolysates or yeast extract during the exponential phase. The maximum antibiotic activity was observed during the stationary phase of culture development.  相似文献
