Two new species of Lirula (L. japonica and L. exigua) on Abies mariesii collected in subalpine areas of northern Japan are described as members of Rhytismatales, Discomycetes. Lirula japonica causes needle cast in fir, but L. exigua seems to occur on the needles of physically damaged twigs. Morphological characteristics of both species are discussed.  相似文献

The seasonal occurrence of Mycosphaerella buna in leaves and contiguous organs of Fagus crenata was studied in a Japanese beech forest, Ibaraki, Japan, in 1998 and 1999. Mycosphaerella buna was not isolated from newly developed leaves in May, but it was isolated from asymptomatic leaves after June. The frequency of its occurrence gradually increased until leaffall. In contrast, M. buna was not isolated from overwintered buds, leaf petioles, or contiguous current-year twigs. The spermogonia and pseudothecia were observed in dead leaves after leaffall. The mature pseudothecia were found on dead leaves from May to July. Two new species ofMarasmiellus are described from eastern Honshu, Japan:Marasmiellus atrostipitatus sp. nov. (sectionRameales subsectionOpacini) is characterized by a white pileus and a blackish stipe covered with white pruinose to flocculos scales.Marasmiellus brunneocarpus sp. nov. Eight species in Pleomassariaceae are described and illustrated. They are Pleomassaria maxima, Pl. swidae, Pl. siparia “type A,” Prosthemium canba, Asteromassaria macroconidica, A. pulchra, Splanchnonema mori, and S. argus. Of these, Pl. swidae on twigs of Swida controversa, Pr. canba on Betula ermanii, and A. macroconidica on twigs of Prunus ×yedoensis and an unknown woody plant are new. Three species, Pl. siparia “type A,” A. pulchra, and S. argus, are reported from Japan for the first time. A new combination, S. mori (≡ Massaria mori), is proposed.  相似文献

Five species of the genus Neonectria (Nectriaceae, Hypocreales) collected from Japan are described with discussion and illustrated. Among them, one found on dead twigs of a broad-leaved tree is described as a new species, Neonectria tokyoensis (anamorph: Cylindrocarpon tokyoense). Neonectria cinnamomea and Neo. discophora are newly added to the Japanese mycobiota. Nectria azureo-ostiolata, recorded in 1977 from Japan, is reexamined as a synonym of Neo. jungneri. Neonectria radicicola, teleomorph of Cy. destructans, a well-known soil-borne plant pathogen in Japan, is newly recorded from Japan. Additional distribution records are provided for the Neonectria species hitherto recorded in Japan.  相似文献

One new hyphomycete, Phialosporostilbe gregariclava, is described and illustrated based on specimens collected on dead culms of two Sasa species in Hokkaido and Iwate, Japan. Three species of Tetraploa collected from Sasa, or bamboos, are described and illustrated. Among them, T. curviappendiculata on Sasa kurilensis and T. longissima on Pleioblastus chino are compared with hitherto known species and described as new species. In the nomenclature, T. javanica is substituted for T. biformis, formerly reported from the dead bark of a broad-leaved tree in Japan, as a correct name.  相似文献

A new species,Stromatinia cryptomeriae, is described based on a specimen collected in Iwate Prefecture, Japan. It was found on fallen dead branches and twigs of Japanese cedar,Cryptomeria japonica. The morphology of isolates on potato-dextrose agar (PDA), which were obtained from single ascospores ofS. cryptomeriae, was identical withGloeosporidina cryptomeriae, the causal fungus of Japanese cedar twig blight. In an inoculation test using single ascospore isolates, many minute black spots (sclerotioid bodies; sclerotules) and acervuli ofG. cryptomeriae were formed on the necrotic lesions, which developed into typical symptoms of Japanese cedar twig blight. These results show thatStromatinia cryptomeriae is the teleomorph ofG. cryptomeriae. On PDA, the fungus grew over a range of about 1 to 25°C, with the optimum growth at about 15–20°C.  相似文献

Many species of Melampsora on Populus have been reported in China, based on morphological characteristics of both uredial and telial states, and on host species, but their morphology and taxonomy are still poorly defined. In this study, 196 specimens representing Melampsora species on poplars and collected from various areas of China were used for morphological observations. The morphological characteristics of urediniospores and teliospores were examined with light and scanning electron microscopy. The specimens could be classified into five groups based on their morphology. For the sequencing of the nuclear large subunit rDNA (D1/D2), 5.8S rDNA and their internal transcribed spacers, ITS1 and ITS2 region, 54 specimens were selected from the specimens used in morphological observations. These specimens were separated into six clades by phylogenetic analyses of the D1/D2 and ITS regions. Correlations among morphological groups and phylogenetic clades based on these results suggest a revision of these species. The composition and quantity of the essential oil of Micromeria allowed us to clearly distinguish between sections Pseudomelissa and Eumicromeria. According to our results the species of section Pseudomelissa (M. thymifolia, M. albanica, M. dalmatica and M. pulegium) contained a large quantity of oil (>0.5%) dominated by oxygenated monoterpenes of the menthane type, while the species of section Eumicromeria (M. croatica, M. juliana, M. cristata and M. parviflora) had a small quantity of essential oil (<0.5%) dominated by various terpene compounds. 0.5% of essential oil is defined like boundary value on the basis of the lowest quantity of essential oil measured in populations of species of section Pseudomelissa.  相似文献

Eastern cottontail (Sylvilagus floridanus, fam. Leporidae), introduced into Piedmont (Italy) in the 1960s, was studied as carrier of dermatophyte fungi. Of 216 hair samples collected from animals culled between September 1999 and July 2000 in the Province of Alessandria (Piedmont, Italy) during a pest control project, 57 (26.4%) yielded dermatophyte colonies. As two different species of dermatophytes grew from two samples, a total of 59 fungal isolates (26.5%) were obtained. Six dermatophyte species both geophilic (M. gypseum, M. cookei, Trichophyton ajelloi, T. terrestre) and zoophilic (M. canis, T. mentagrophytes) were identified. No sex-related differences were found but season-related differences were observed. The highest prevalence of dermatophyte-positive samples was recorded in May–September, due to the geophilic fungi whose prevalence decreased during colder and increased during warmer months ( p < 0.001). The presence of zoophilic dermatophytes, T. mentagrophytes, commonly associated with rodents, small mammals and lagomorphs and M. canis, usually correlated with domestic environment, did not change the whole year round. As Eastern cottontail has been showed to be a carrier of dermatophytes transmissible to man (M. canis, T. mentagrophytes and M. gypseum), it may represent a source of infection for gamekeepers, hunters and veterinarians.  相似文献

Pezicula cinnamomea (DC.: Fr.) Sacc. was frequently isolated from dead twigs of flowering cherry (Prunus × yedoensis Matsum.) in Aomori Prefecture, Japan. Inoculations of flowering cherry tree twigs with the fungus resulted in longitudinal browning of heartwood tissues 3–4cm long after 7 months, showing no apparent symptoms on the bark. The fungus were reisolated at high rates from the affected tissues. Apothecia were formed on cut affected twigs when they were placed in a moist Petri dish and kept under near-UV (Black Light Blue; BL-B) light irradiation. On potato sucrose agar (PSA) plates, the fungus failed to form apothecia in the dark, while many apothecia were formed under BL-B and, to a lesser extent, under white light. In nature, the light, especially near-UV, might be an important factor in apothecium formation. Under near-UV from BL-B conidiomata with conidia formed after 5–6 days and mature apothecia after about 14 days. The developmental processes of the apothecium were histologically studied under light and electron microscopes. Pezicula cinnamomea, which is homothallic and fruits easily in culture, may be very useful for life cycle studies and the elucidation of ecological role of this group of fungi.  相似文献

A new genus of a deep-sea ascomycete with one new species, Alisea longicolla, is described based on analyses of 18S and 28S rDNA sequences and morphological characters. A. longicolla was found together with Oceanitis scuticella, on small twigs and sugar cane debris trawled from the bottom of the Pacific Ocean off Vanuatu Islands. Molecular and morphological characters indicate that both fungi are members of Halosphaeriaceae. Within this family, O. scuticella is phylogenetically related to Ascosalsum and shares similar ascospore morphology and appendage ontogeny. The genus Ascosalsum is considered congeneric with Oceanitis and Ascosalsum cincinnatulum, Ascosalsum unicaudatum and Ascosalsum viscidulum are transferred to Oceanitis, an earlier generic name.  相似文献

The leaf blight and mummy fruit disease fungus of Prunus ssiori in northern Japan is newly named M. ssiori, as a fourth member in the M. padi group of section Disjunctoriae of the genus Monilinia (Sclerotiniaceae). It has been misidentified with Monilinia kusanoi, but recent studies show it is different from M. kusanoi as well as other related species on prunaceous hosts in respect to host relation, pathogenicity, morphology, and gene analysis.  相似文献

Pseudocercospora cyatheae C. Nakash. & S. Inaba on Cyathea sp. as a new species is described. Three species belonging to the genus Cercospora and allied genera are newly added to the mycoflora of Japan. They are Cercospora armoraciae on Armoracia rusticana, Passalora passaloroides on Amorpha fruticosa, and Pseudocercospora nogalesii on Cytisus scoparius.  相似文献
