Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) scheduling for power equipment is based on some types of data in power system, such as the health condition of components, the load level of the substation and Life Cycle Cost (LCC), etc. Due to the lack of necessary data, traditional CBM strategy optimization models are usually established without enough data, and the optimization results are usually difficult to obtain the enough accuracy. With the development of Chinese power industry, the data volume in power system is increasing dramatically in recent years, and the power industry is undoubtedly entering the era of Big Data. To handle and store these increasing data, more and more data management systems have been developed for different application. For example, Energy Management System, Production Management System and Management Information System have been widely applied. The multi-source data in these systems gives an opportunity to improve the accuracy and rationality for CBM optimization results. Thus, it is of great significance to make full use of these data in maintenance strategy optimization process. This paper presents a new approach to optimize the CBM strategy for components in the substation. After analyzing the interconnection relations of different types of components, the substation is divided into different maintenance units, the components in the same unit can be maintained together. To quantitatively evaluate the reliability of the components before and after repaired, two failure rate calculation models based on Health Index (HI) and age reduction factor are established respectively, and all the alternative maintenance strategies for the abnormal components are proposed based on the location and severity of the faults or defects of the components. According to the theory of LCC, the CBM optimization model is established when determines the minimum total cost as the optimization goal during the maintenance period. The total cost consists of the reparation cost, the interruption cost and the maintenance cost. Finally, an application example in a 220 kV substation is proposed, and these multi-source data are fully applied in the optimization process. The calculation results indicate that these types of data have benefit to improve the accuracy and rationality of the optimization results, and the strategy after optimized can obviously improve both the power supply reliability and the economy of the substation.  相似文献

One of the key problems of motor control is the redundancy problem, in particular how the central nervous system (CNS) chooses an action out of infinitely many possible. A promising way to address this question is to assume that the choice is made based on optimization of a certain cost function. A number of cost functions have been proposed in the literature to explain performance in different motor tasks: from force sharing in grasping to path planning in walking. However, the problem of uniqueness of the cost function(s) was not addressed until recently. In this article, we analyze two methods of finding additive cost functions in inverse optimization problems with linear constraints, so-called linear-additive inverse optimization problems. These methods are based on the Uniqueness Theorem for inverse optimization problems that we proved recently (Terekhov et?al., J Math Biol 61(3):423?C453, 2010). Using synthetic data, we show that both methods allow for determining the cost function. We analyze the influence of noise on the both methods. Finally, we show how a violation of the conditions of the Uniqueness Theorem may lead to incorrect solutions of the inverse optimization problem.  相似文献

Several mathematical models have been developed in anaerobic digestion systems and a variety of methods have been used for parameter estimation and model validation. However, structural and parametric identifiability questions are relatively seldom addressed in the reported AD modeling studies. This paper presents a 3-step procedure for the reliable estimation of a set of kinetic and stoichiometric parameters in a simplified model of the anaerobic digestion process. This procedure includes the application of global sensitivity analysis, which allows to evaluate the interaction among the identified parameters, multi-start strategy that gives a picture of the possible local minima and the selection of optimization criteria or cost functions. This procedure is applied to the experimental data collected from a lab-scale sequencing batch reactor. Two kinetic parameters and two stoichiometric coefficients are estimated and their accuracy was also determined. The classical least-squares cost function appears to be the best choice in this case study.  相似文献

A constraint satisfaction problem, namely the generation of Balanced Incomplete Block Designs (v, b, r, kappa, lambda)-BIBDs, is cast in terms of function optimization. A family of cost functions that both suit the problem and admit a neural implementation is defined. An experimental comparison spanning this repertoire of cost functions and three neural relaxation strategies (Down-Hill search, Simulated Annealing and a new Parallel Mean Search procedure), as applied to all BIBDs of up to 1000 entries, has been undertaken. The experiments were performed on a Connection Machine CM-200 and their analysis required a careful study of performance measures. The simplest cost function stood out as the best one for the three strategies. Parallel Mean Search, with several processors searching cooperatively in parallel, could solve a larger number of problems than the same number of processors working independently, but Simulated Annealing yielded overall the best results. Other conclusions, as detailed in the paper, could be drawn from the comparison, BIBDs remaining a challenging problem for neural optimization algorithms.  相似文献

Solvation effect is an important factor for protein–ligand binding in aqueous water. Previous scoring function of protein–ligand interactions rarely incorporates the solvation model into the quantification of protein–ligand interactions, mainly due to the immense computational cost, especially in the structure‐based virtual screening, and nontransferable application of independently optimized atomic solvation parameters. In order to overcome these barriers, we effectively combine knowledge‐based atom–pair potentials and the atomic solvation energy of charge‐independent implicit solvent model in the optimization of binding affinity and specificity. The resulting scoring functions with optimized atomic solvation parameters is named as specificity and affinity with solvation effect (SPA‐SE). The performance of SPA‐SE is evaluated and compared to 20 other scoring functions, as well as SPA. The comparative results show that SPA‐SE outperforms all other scoring functions in binding affinity prediction and “native” pose identification. Our optimization validates that solvation effect is an important regulator to the stability and specificity of protein–ligand binding. The development strategy of SPA‐SE sets an example for other scoring function to account for the solvation effect in biomolecular recognitions. Computer simulation is an important technique to capture the dynamics of biochemical networks. Numerical optimization is the key to estimate the values of kinetic parameters so that the dynamic model reproduces the behaviors of the existing experimental data. It is required to develop general strategies for the optimization of complex biochemical networks with a huge space of search parameters, under the condition that kinetic and quantitative data are hardly available. We propose an integrative and practical strategy for optimizing a complex dynamic model by using qualitative and incomplete experimental data. The key technologies are the divide and conquer method for reducing the search space, handling of multiple objective functions representing different types of biological behaviors, and design of rule-based objective functions that are suitable for qualitative and error-prone experimental data. This strategy is applied to optimizing a dynamic model of the yeast cell cycle to demonstrate the feasibility of it.  相似文献

The present paper aims at presenting a fast and quasi-optimal method of muscle forces estimation: the MusIC method. It consists in interpolating a first estimation in a database generated offline thanks to a classical optimization problem, and then correcting it to respect the motion dynamics. Three different cost functions – two polynomial criteria and a min/max criterion – were tested on a planar musculoskeletal model. The MusIC method provides a computation frequency approximately 10 times higher compared to a classical optimization problem with a relative mean error of 4% on cost function evaluation.  相似文献

Royalactin is a protein with several different potential uses in humans. Research, in insects and in mammalian cells, has shown that it can accelerate cell division and prevent apoptosis. The method of action is through the use of the epidermal growth factor receptor, which is present in humans. Potential use in humans could be to lower cholesterolemic levels in blood, and to elicit similar effects to those seen in bees, e.g., increased lifespan. Mass production of Royalactin has not been accomplished, though a recent article presented a Pichia pastoris fermentation and recovery by aqueous two‐phase systems at laboratory scale as a possible basis for production. Economic modelling is a useful tool with which compare possible outcomes for the production of such a molecule and in particular, to locate areas where additional research is needed and optimization may be required. This study uses the BioSolve software to perform an economic analysis on the scale‐up of the putative process for Royalactin. The key parameters affecting the cost of production were located via a sensitivity analysis and then evaluated by Monte Carlo analysis. Results show that if titer is not optimized the strategy to maintain a low cost of goods is process oriented. After optimization of this parameter the strategy changes to a product‐oriented and the target output becomes the critical parameter determining the cost of goods. This study serves to provide a framework for the evaluation of strategies for future production of Royalactin, by analyzing the factors that influence its cost of manufacture. © 2015 American Institute of Chemical Engineers Biotechnol. Temperature is a critical variable to be optimized in any enzymatic process, producing opposite effects on enzyme activity and inactivation rate. Temperature functions for all kinetic and inactivation parameters were validated for chitin-immobilized yeast lactase (CIL). Enzyme inactivation was described by a two-stage series mechanism. The effect of galactose and lactose on inactivation was determined in terms of modulation factors that were positive for galactose and negative for lactose. Modulation factors were mild functions of temperature in the first stage and strong functions in the second stage of enzyme inactivation, where galactose positive modulation factors increase while lactose negative modulation factors decrease with temperature. Temperature-explicit functions for kinetic and inactivation parameters were incorporated into a scheme to optimize temperature in the simulation of a continuous packed-bed reactor operation with chitin-immobilized lactase, based on an annual cost objective function. Optimum temperature was 20°C at enzyme replacement of 25% residual activity, and increased only slightly at higher replacement frequencies. The effect of modulation factors on reactor design and temperature optimization is presented and discussed. Software for temperature optimization that allows the introduction of variations in all parameters and operational criteria to perform sensitivity analysis was developed.  相似文献

Maynard-Smith (1974) has presented a game of attrition model for animal conflict. He assumed that the penalty function, giving the cost in terms of fitness, of displaying for a given time period, is a linear function of the time of display. Under this assumption he shows that an evolutionary stable strategy (ESS) always exists: one such is a mixed strategy for which display times have a negative exponential distribution. Given the diversity of reproductive strategies and patterns of agonistic behavior in nature, it is reasonable to consider games with different types of cost functions. In this paper it is shown that if more general cost functions are allowed (not necessarily linear), then ESS's still exist and give a great variety of distributions of display time. Supporting data are presented to suggest that these distributions may be found in nature. It is suggested that the interrelations between an animal's fitness budget and the game's penalty function will determine the nature of an ESS for different kinds of games.  相似文献

Inverse dynamics combined with a constrained static optimization analysis has often been proposed to solve the muscular redundancy problem. Typically, the optimization problem consists in a cost function to be minimized and some equality and inequality constraints to be fulfilled. Penalty-based and Lagrange multipliers methods are common optimization methods for the equality constraints management. More recently, the pseudo-inverse method has been introduced in the field of biomechanics. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the ability and the efficiency of this new method to solve the muscular redundancy problem, by comparing respectively the musculo-tendon forces prediction and its cost-effectiveness against common optimization methods. Since algorithm efficiency and equality constraints fulfillment highly belong to the optimization method, a two-phase procedure is proposed in order to identify and compare the complexity of the cost function, the number of iterations needed to find a solution and the computational time of the penalty-based method, the Lagrange multipliers method and pseudo-inverse method. Using a 2D knee musculo-skeletal model in an isometric context, the study of the cost functions isovalue curves shows that the solution space is 2D with the penalty-based method, 3D with the Lagrange multipliers method and 1D with the pseudo-inverse method. The minimal cost function area (defined as the area corresponding to 5% over the minimal cost) obtained for the pseudo-inverse method is very limited and along the solution space line, whereas the minimal cost function area obtained for other methods are larger or more complex. Moreover, when using a 3D lower limb musculo-skeletal model during a gait cycle simulation, the pseudo-inverse method provides the lowest number of iterations while Lagrange multipliers and pseudo-inverse method have almost the same computational time. The pseudo-inverse method, by providing a better suited cost function and an efficient computational framework, seems to be adapted to the muscular redundancy problem resolution in case of linear equality constraints. Moreover, by reducing the solution space, this method could be a unique opportunity to introduce optimization methods for a posteriori articulation of preference in order to provide a palette of solutions rather than a unique solution based on a lot of hypotheses.  相似文献

Background

Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) is an established method for parameter optimization. It represents a population-based adaptive optimization technique that is influenced by several "strategy parameters". Choosing reasonable parameter values for the PSO is crucial for its convergence behavior, and depends on the optimization task. We present a method for parameter meta-optimization based on PSO and its application to neural network training. The concept of the Optimized Particle Swarm Optimization (OPSO) is to optimize the free parameters of the PSO by having swarms within a swarm. We assessed the performance of the OPSO method on a set of five artificial fitness functions and compared it to the performance of two popular PSO implementations.  相似文献

Parallel file systems have been developed in recent years to ease the I/O bottleneck of high-end computing system. These advanced file systems offer several data layout strategies in order to meet the performance goals of specific I/O workloads. However, while a layout policy may perform well on some I/O workload, it may not perform as well for another. Peak I/O performance is rarely achieved due to the complex data access patterns. Data access is application dependent. In this study, a cost-intelligent data access strategy based on the application-specific optimization principle is proposed. This strategy improves the I/O performance of parallel file systems. We first present examples to illustrate the difference of performance under different data layouts. By developing a cost model which estimates the completion time of data accesses in various data layouts, the layout can better match the application. Static layout optimization can be used for applications with dominant data access patterns, and dynamic layout selection with hybrid replications can be used for applications with complex I/O patterns. Theoretical analysis and experimental testing have been conducted to verify the proposed cost-intelligent layout approach. Analytical and experimental results show that the proposed cost model is effective and the application-specific data layout approach can provide up to a 74% performance improvement for data-intensive applications.  相似文献

Since the allocation of vaccines is often constrained by limited resources, designing an economical vaccination strategy is a fundamental goal of the epidemiological modelling. In this study, with the objective of reducing costs, we determine the optimal allocation of vaccines for a general class of infectious diseases that spread mainly via contact. We use an optimization routine to identify the roles of nodes with distinct degrees as depending on the cost of treatment to that of vaccination (relative cost of treatment). The optimal allocation drives vaccination priority to medium-degree nodes at a low relative cost of treatment or to high-degree nodes at a high relative cost of treatment. According to the presented results, we may adjust the vaccination priority in the face of an endemic situation.  相似文献

A new pre-breeding strategy based on an optimization algorithm is proposed and evaluated via simulations. This strategy can find superior genotypes with less phenotyping effort.

Abstract

Genomic prediction is a promising approach to search for superior genotypes among a large number of accessions in germplasm collections preserved in gene banks. When some accessions are phenotyped and genotyped, a prediction model can be built, and the genotypic values of the remaining accessions can be predicted from their marker genotypes. In this study, we focused on the application of genomic prediction to pre-breeding, and propose a novel strategy that would reduce the cost of phenotyping needed to discover better accessions. We regarded the exploration of superior genotypes with genomic prediction as an optimization problem, and introduced Bayesian optimization to solve it. Bayesian optimization, that samples unobserved inputs according to the expected improvement (EI) as a selection criterion, seemed to be beneficial in pre-breeding. The EI depends on the predicted distribution of genotypic values, whereas usual selection depends only on the point estimate. We simulated a search for the best genotype among candidate genotypes and showed that the EI-based strategy required fewer genotypes to identify the best genotype than the usual and random selection strategy. Therefore, Bayesian optimization can be useful for applying genomic prediction to pre-breeding and would reduce the number of phenotyped accessions needed to find the best accession among a large number of candidates.

Legged locomotion requires the determination of a number of parameters such as stride period, stride length, order of leg movements, leg trajectory, etc. How are these parameters determined? It has been reported that the locomotor patterns of many legged animals exhibit common characteristics, which suggests that there exists a basic strategy for legged locomotion. In this study we derive an equation to estimate the cost of transport for legged locomotion and examine a criterion of the minimization of the transport cost as a candidate of the strategy. The obtained optimal locomotor pattern that minimizes the cost suitably represents many characteristics of the pattern observed in legged animals. This suggests that the locomotor pattern of legged animals is well optimized with regard to the energetic cost. The result also suggests that the existence of specific gait patterns and the phase transition between them could be the result due to optimization; they are induced by the change in the distribution of ground reaction forces for each leg during locomotion.  相似文献

This paper shows a new method to estimate the muscle forces in musculoskeletal systems based on the inverse dynamics of a multi-body system associated optimal control. The redundant actuator problem is solved by minimizing a time-integral cost function, augmented with a torque-tracking error function, and muscle dynamics is considered through differential constraints. The method is compared to a previously implemented human posture control problem, solved using a Forward Dynamics Optimal Control approach and to classical static optimization, with two different objective functions. The new method provides very similar muscle force patterns when compared to the forward dynamics solution, but the computational cost is much smaller and the numerical robustness is increased. The results achieved suggest that this method is more accurate for the muscle force predictions when compared to static optimization, and can be used as a numerically 'cheap' alternative to the forward dynamics and optimal control in some applications.  相似文献

The complex three-dimensional shapes of tree-like structures in biology are constrained by optimization principles, but the actual costs being minimized can be difficult to discern. We show that despite quite variable morphologies and functions, bifurcations in the scleractinian coral Madracis and in many different mammalian neuron types tend to be planar. We prove that in fact bifurcations embedded in a spatial tree that minimizes wiring cost should lie on planes. This biologically motivated generalization of the classical mathematical theory of Euclidean Steiner trees is compatible with many different assumptions about the type of cost function. Since the geometric proof does not require any correlation between consecutive planes, we predict that, in an environment without directional biases, consecutive planes would be oriented independently of each other. We confirm this is true for many branching corals and neuron types. We conclude that planar bifurcations are characteristic of wiring cost optimization in any type of biological spatial tree structure.  相似文献

Background

Development of a fast and accurate scoring function in virtual screening remains a hot issue in current computer-aided drug research. Different scoring functions focus on diverse aspects of ligand binding, and no single scoring can satisfy the peculiarities of each target system. Therefore, the idea of a consensus score strategy was put forward. Integrating several scoring functions, consensus score re-assesses the docked conformations using a primary scoring function. However, it is not really robust and efficient from the perspective of optimization. Furthermore, to date, the majority of available methods are still based on single objective optimization design.  相似文献

This paper proposes a new optimization strategy to estimate nitrifiable nitrogen concentration in wastewater, nitrification rate, denitrification rate and/or COD available for denitrification of an activated sludge process submitted to intermittent aeration. The approach uses the oxydo-reduction potential and dissolved oxygen measurements only. The parameter identification is based on a Simplex optimization of a cost function related to the error between an experimental cycle (an aerobic period followed by an anoxic one) and a simulation of a reduced model derived from ASM1. Results show very good prediction of experimental oxygen, ammonium and nitrate profiles. The estimation of nitrifiable nitrogen and removal rates has been validated both on simulated data obtained from COST action 624 benchmark and on experimental data.  相似文献
