Papillomaviruses are found in epithelial lesions and are linked to different carcinogenic processes in humans and other animals. Although bovine papillomavirus (BPV) has been characterized as epitheliotropic, the presence of viral DNA has been detected in other sample types, including fresh semen. The aim of this study was to evaluate the presence of BPV DNA in spermatozoa and seminal plasma samples of commercial frozen semen taken from bulls (Bos taurus) and its effects on semen function. PCR assays were conducted with specific primers to detect BPV types 1-6 in 40 semen samples of dairy Gir bulls. The semen quality was assessed by the use of parameters such as motility, vigor, acrosomal integrity and DNA integrity. BPV-2 DNA was detected in all of the sperm cell samples and all the seminal samples; however BPV-1, 3, 4, 5 and 6 could not be detected. The presence of BPV DNA was apparently not a cause of reduced sperm function. This is the first record of BPV-2 DNA the commercial frozen semen taken from dairy Gir cattle by several companies that provide semen. Further studies are needed to assess the viability of the virus and the extent to which it can be spread through semen.  相似文献

Bovine Herpesvirus type-5 (BoHV-5), which is potentially neuropathogenic, was recently described to be related with reproductive disorders in cows. The objective was to elucidate mechanisms involved in propagation of BoHV-5 in embryonic cells. For this purpose, bovine embryos produced in vitro were assayed for apoptotic markers after experimental infection of oocytes, in vitro fertilization, and development. Host DNA fragmentation was detected with a TUNEL assay, expression of annexin-V was measured with indirect immunofluorescence, and viral DNA was detected with in situ hybridization. Infective BoHV-5 virus was recovered from embryos derived from exposed oocytes after two consecutive passages on Madin-Darby bovine kidney (MDBK) cells. The viral DNA corresponding to US9 gene, localized between nucleotides 126243 to 126493, was detected in situ and amplified. There was no significant difference between the ratio of TUNEL stained nuclei and total cells in good quality blastocysts (0.87 ± 0.05, mean ± SD), but there were differences (P < 0.05) between infected (0.18 ± 0.05) and uninfected blastocysts (0.73 ± 0.07). The Annexin-V label was more intense in uninfected embryos (0.79 ± 0.04; P < 0.05). The quality of infected and uninfected embryos was considered equal, with no significant effect on embryonic development. In conclusion, we inferred that BoHV-5 infected bovine oocytes, replicated, and suppressed some apoptotic pathways, without significantly affecting embryonic development.  相似文献

Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was used to test six different nonbovine ruminant species for five bovine herpesviruses including infectious bovine rhinotracheitis virus (BoHV-1), bovine herpes mammillitis virus (BoHV-2), Movar-type herpesvirus (BoHV-4), bovine herpesvirus type 5 (BoHV-5), and alcelaphine herpesvirus 1 (AlHV-1). Species tested included 56 roe deer (Capreolus capreolus), 66 red deer (Cervus elaphus), 20 fallow deer (Dama dama), 16 mouflon (Ovis musimon), 34 domestic sheep, and 44 domestic goats, which were sampled in Hungary in 2003. Tracheal and popliteal lymph nodes collected from these animals were tested for the presence of the five bovine herpesviruses using three nested (two of which were duplex) PCR assays. Three bovine herpesviruses (BoHV-1, -2, and -4) were detected, whereas no evidence of AlHV-1 or BoHV-5 was observed. Prevalence of BoHV-1 ranged from 12% to 47%, and PCR-positive results were observed in all species tested. BoHV-2 was detected from roe deer, red deer, fallow deer, mouflon, and domestic sheep, and the prevalence in these species ranged from 3% to 50%. BoHV-4 was detected in all species, with prevalence ranging from 12% to 69%. Sequenced PCR products were 99-100% identical to bovine herpesviral sequences deposited in the GenBank.  相似文献

Bovine (Bos indicus) herpesviruses have been associated with reproductive disease. Type 1, the most studied species, is best known for its reproductive and respiratory effects. Type 5 (BoHV-5) has been detected in bull semen and aborted fetuses but not in oocytes and embryos. This study consisted of three experiments that evaluated (1) BoHV-5-infected oocytes matured in medium with fetal bovine serum (BoHV-FBS) or polyvinyl alcohol (BoHV-PVA) and fertilized by noninfected sperm; (2) noninfected oocytes fertilized by BoHV-5-infected sperm; and (3) infection of presumptive zygotes by BoHV-5. Each treatment involved nine drops of 15 to 20 oocytes. Infection with BoHV-5 was detected by polymerase chain reaction and in situ hybridization assay, and fertilization capacity and embryonic development were assessed using in vitro culture. Experimentally induced infection was obtained in all experiments, and vertical transmission of BoHV-5 by gametes was confirmed. The cleavage rate was reduced (P = 0.0201) in BoHV-FBS (80.4 ± 8.9%; mean ± SD) compared with that of noninfected oocytes (89.9 ± 6.5%); neither differed from BoHV-PVA (87.3 ± 7.1%), and the resulting embryo production rate was not significantly different among groups. Rates of cleavage (87.5 ± 7.5% vs. 92.2 ± 5.5%, control vs. infected) and development of embryos (41.7 ± 9.9% vs. 44.3 ± 7.7% to morula/blastocyst/expanded blastocyst [M/B/EB] and 39.6 ± 10.3% vs. 40.8 ± 9.2% to blastocyst/expanded blastocyst/hatching blastocyst [B/EB/HB] stages) were not compromised by infected sperm (P = 0.1462, P = 0.5402, and P = 0.8074, respectively). However, presumptive zygotes directly infected 1 d after fertilization produced a lower number (P = 0.0140 to M/B/EB and P = 0.002 to B/EB/HB stages) of in vitro-produced embryos (31.6 ± 4.6 vs. 25.0 ± 5.5 and 31.6 ± 4.6 vs. 20.2 ± 5.4; control vs. infected). In conclusion, BoHV-5 infected gametes and was transmissible to the embryo during in vitro development. As zygotes infected 1 d after fertilization had compromised development, BoHV-5 has the potential to be a pathogen with economic consequences.  相似文献

We conducted virologic investigations on postmortem specimens from 261 free-living European bison (Bison bonasus) from the Bialowieza Primeval Forest, Poland collected between 1990 and 2000. Fifty-four of 94 males had balanoposthitis; none of the 167 female bison examined had reproductive tract lesions. Peripheral blood, swabs, and various tissues were analyzed for bovine viruses as well as for viral DNA by bovine herpesvirus 1 (BoHV-1) and bovine herpesvirus 4 (BoHV-4) specific polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technique. An infectious bovine rhinotracheitis like BoHV-1 strain was isolated from the spleen of a female bison calf and additionally was detected by nested PCR from splenic tissue. None of the bison had significant antibody titers against BoHV-1, bovine herpesvirus 2, BoHV-4, caprine herpesvirus 1, cervid herpesvirus 1, or bovine viral diarrhea (BVD) virus-1. However, low antibody titers in two animals indicate that this European bison population has been exposed to BVD virus or BVD-like viruses and BoHV-2.  相似文献

The influence of Bovine Herpesvirus type 5 (BoHV-5) infection on semen variables and sperm morphology collected from healthy bulls with no reproductive disorder was evaluated in ten ejaculates distributed into two experimental groups: group I, bull semen exposed to 10(2.3) (tissue culture infectious dose) TCID(50)/50 μl of a Brazilian strain of BoHV-5 (US9/BR/2007; GU9457818) and group II, unexposed bull control semen. After experimental infection, the semen was frozen-thawed prior to computerized analysis (CASA) of sperm motility and movement. Also analyzed were sperm phosphatidylserine transposition, acrosomal integrity, mitochondrial function, plasma membrane integrity and Annexin V expression. Viable BoHV-5 particles and their DNA were detected in infected semen after virus isolation and in situ hybridization (ISH) assay. The ISH revealed the BoHV-5 US9 gene in the acrosome and tail of infected spermatozoa. The only remarkable differences between groups I and II were the sperm kinetic variables, whereby infected sperm had a lesser mean velocity (VAP) and curvilinear velocity (VCL) values as compared to controls (P≤0.05). However, the straightness coefficient (STR) and beat cross frequency (BCF) values were higher in infected sperm. These results indicate that BoHV-5 can be found in infected sperm but induces no functional and morphological damage even after freeze-thawing, and, importantly, BoHV-5 can be spread via in vitro and in vivo reproductive biotechnology procedures.  相似文献

This scientific review was prompted by recent legislation to curtail the use of semen from potentially virus-infected bulls to produce embryos for import into the European Union. From studies in laboratory animals, humans and horses, it is apparent that viruses may sometimes attach to, or be integrated into, spermatozoa, although in domestic livestock, including cattle, this seems to be a rare phenomenon, and carriage of virus through the zona pellucida into the oocyte by fertilising sperm has never been described in these species. Four specific viruses; enzootic bovine leukosis (EBLV), bovine herpesvirus-1 (BoHV-1), bovine viral diarrhoea virus (BVDV) and bluetongue virus (BTV), all of which tend to cause subclinical infections in cattle, but which can occur in bovine semen, are examined with regard to the risks that use of infected semen might lead to production of infected embryos. With regard to in vivo-derived embryos, when internationally approved embryo processing protocols are used, the risks from EBLV- and BTV-infected semen are negligible, and the same is almost certainly true for semen infected with BoHV-1 if the embryos are also treated with trypsin. For BVDV, there is insufficient data on how the virus is carried in semen and how different BVDV strains can interact with sperm, oocytes and embryos. There is a potential, at least, that in vivo-derived embryos resulting from infected semen might carry BVDV, although field studies so far suggest that this is very unlikely. With regard to in vitro-produced embryos, use of semen infected with any of the four viruses, with the probable exception of EBLV, will often lead to contaminated embryos, and virus removal from these embryos is difficult even when the internationally approved embryo processing protocols are used. However, it has never been demonstrated that such embryos have resulted in transmission of infection to recipients or offspring.  相似文献

Recently, the presence of Neospora caninum DNA in semen from naturally infected bulls was reported. In the present work, the presence and quantification of N. caninum by PCR techniques in frozen extended semen straws from naturally infected bulls was investigated. A total of 20 seropositive and five seronegative bulls raised for reproductive purposes in an AI centre were used. Ten extended semen straws from each bull obtained at different time-points during the previous 2 years were selected for Neospora testing. Eight of the seropositive bulls (40%) studied showed at least one positive straw to N. caninum DNA and 14 of their 180 semen straws examined (7.8%) were found to be positive. In all positive samples, N. caninum DNA was consistently detected in the cell fraction and not in the seminal plasma. However, the parasite number in each positive straw was under the detection level of real-time PCR. In parallel, 10 semen straws from each of the five seronegative bulls were also analyzed by the nested-PCR and no N. caninum DNA products were obtained. In order to check the consistent presence of N. caninum in a positive semen batch, three additional semen straws from the same batch of each positive straw from three seropositive bulls were analyzed but N. caninum DNA was only detected in one straw from one bull. In conclusion, we report the sporadic detection of N. caninum DNA in semen straws of naturally infected bulls but the low frequency of contaminated semen straws and the low parasite load observed indicate a minor chance of bovine neosporosis transmission by AI.  相似文献

In the horse, the risk of excretion of two major equine pathogens (equine herpesvirus types 1 (EHV-1) and 4 (EHV-4)) in semen is unknown. The objective of our study was to assess the possible risks for the horizontal transmission of equine rhinopneumonitis herpesviruses via the semen and the effect of the viruses on stallion fertility.Samples of stallion semen (n = 390) were gathered from several different sources. Examination of the semen involved the detection of viral DNA using specific PCR. The mean fertility of the stallions whose sperm tested positive for viral DNA and the mean fertility of stallions whose sperm did not contain viral DNA, were compared using the Student's t-test.EHV-4 viral DNA was not detected in any of the semen samples. EHV-1 DNA was identified in 51 of the 390 samples, (13%). One hundred and eighty-two samples came from 6 studs and there was significant difference (p < 0.05) among the proportion of stallions whose semen tested positive for viral DNA from 0 to 55% between the studs.There was a significant difference (p < 0.014) between the fertility of stallions whose semen tested positive for viral DNA and those whose semen was free from viral DNA. The stallions that excreted the EHV-1 virus in their semen appeared to be more fertile than the non-excretors, but this difference was in fact related to the breeding technique since higher proportion of excretors were found among those whose semen was used fresh rather than preserved by cooling or freezing.In conclusion, this study suggests that the EHV-1 virus may be transmitted via the semen at mating or by artificial insemination as demonstrated with other herpes viruses in other species.  相似文献

Homologous recombination between different species of alphaherpesviruses has been described between herpes simplex viruses 1 and 2 but has not yet been observed between other alphaherpesviruses. In the present study we chose to assess to what extent in vitro recombination can occur between members of a well-defined group of closely related viruses such as ruminant alphaherpesviruses. At 24 h after infection of epithelial bovine kidney cells with a double-deleted mutant of bovine herpesvirus 1 (BoHV-1) (containing green fluorescent protein and red fluorescent protein genes) and different ruminant alphaherpesviruses, four types of progeny viruses were detected and distinguished according to their phenotype. Frequent recombination events between identical or different strains of BoHV-1 were observed (up to 30%), whereas only two BoHV-1/BoHV-5 recombinants were identified, and no recombinants between BoHV-1 and less closely related caprine and cervine herpesviruses were detected. Restriction analysis of the genomes of the two BoHV-1/BoHV-5 recombinants showed different genetic backgrounds. One possessed a restriction pattern close to BoHV-1, whereas the other one was close to BoHV-5. This exhaustive analysis of each combination of coinfection in a unique situation of five closely related alphaherpesviruses revealed the importance of a high degree of genetic relatedness and similar parental virus growth kinetics for successful interspecific recombination.  相似文献

To study the effect of antibiotics upon Mycoplasma bovis in fresh bovine semen just before freezing, specimens of bovine semen were artificially infected with 1 of 9 different strains of M. bovis. Inocula of each strain were prepared to contain 10(5) to 10(6)/mL colony-forming units of M. bovis at 3 different stages of the growth phase. The infected semen was diluted with a Tris extender by a 3-step procedure using an antibiotic mixture of gentamicin, tylosin, lincomycin and spectinomycin (GTLS). This semen-antibiotic mixture was placed into French straws that were stored at -196 degrees C. The control semen specimens contained no antibiotics Mycoplasmas were counted after 8 d of storage in 3 decimal dilutions of the frozen semen. No evident effect was noticed upon the 9 tested strains of mycoplasmas in the semen frozen with the antibiotics, compared with that of the untreated control samples. It was further shown that this lack of effect was irrespective of the stage of the growth phase of the mycoplasmas. It was concluded that the antibiotic mixture (GTLS) in semen specimens is not capable of total elimination of mycoplasmas in frozen bovine semen.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to characterize bovine semen parameters and determine the best IVF conditions to produce a maximal percentage of blastocysts. Four types of semen were analyzed with CASA and flow cytometry: fresh and frozen non-sexed semen; fresh and frozen sexed semen. Semen was obtained from four Holstein bulls and two ejaculates from each bull were analyzed. Oocytes from slaughterhouse ovaries were matured and fertilized in vitro with all types of semen (for sexed semen, 2, 5 or 10 μg/mL heparin was added to the IVF media while for non-sexed semen, 10 μg/mL was added in the IVF medium). Presumptive zygotes were co-cultured with Buffalo rat liver cells in Menezo's B2 medium, and cleavage rates at Day 2, and blastocyst rates at Day 7 of culture, were recorded. Sexed semen resulted in fewer blastocysts than non-sexed semen (P < 0.05), and certain bulls performed better in IVF. Freezing, and not sexing, had a more significant negative effect on semen quality. Compromised semen quality due to sexing and/or freezing can explain the reduced in vitro blastocyst rates when using frozen-thawed sexed semen. Sexed semen that appeared more capacitated seemed to require less heparin in IVF than sexed semen that appeared less capacitated to produce a maximal percentage of blastocyst. Flow cytometry sorting eliminates spermatozoa that possess compromised DNA, and therefore the reduced fertility seen in vitro is not due to an increased percentage of spermatozoa with compromised DNA. This study describes tools that can monitor semen parameters to optimize IVF conditions and thus obtain maximal blastocyst rates.  相似文献

Tubercle bacilli shed in the semen can be a potential hazard for unlimited number of cows through artificial insemination. We have evaluated the efficacy of a DNA amplification technique by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) for the detection of tubercle bacilli in fresh and frozen semen using spiked samples. The test was based on insertion sequence IS 1081 and could detect as low as 10-100 bacterial cells per ml of spiked semen. The specificity of the test was 100%. The method was applied to semen samples from known and suspected tuberculous bulls. Each of 20 semen samples (fresh and frozen diluted) from one of the three breeding bulls included in the study was found positive while the remaining 40 samples from the other two bulls failed to generate any detectable signal. PCR products were confirmed with Southern blot hybridization to an alpha 32P labeled-PCR product of the target sequence from the IS 1081 element of the Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to investigate the inflammatory reaction induced in the equine uterus by insemination with fresh and frozen semen. Eleven groups (6 to 8 mares per group) were studied during 2 breeding seasons. The mares were inseminated using raw semen, frozen semen, extended fresh and frozen semen, concentrated fresh semen, seminal plasma and seminal extenders only. One group was bred naturally. Six hours after insemination, the uteri were flushed with 50 ml of phosphate-buffered saline (PBS). Seventeen out of 104 samples (16%) exhibited slight bacterial growth. Neutrophil concentrations were significantly (P < 0.05) higher in all treated mares than in the controls. Mares infused with PBS, seminal extenders or the supernatant from centrifuged frozen-thawed semen exhibited only a mild neutrophil response. Insemination with frozen semen resulted in higher neutrophil concentrations than insemination with extended fresh semen (means of 59 vs 5 million neutrophils/ml; P < 0.05). Highest neutrophil counts were found after insemination with frozen semen or concentrated fresh semen. Bacterial contamination of uteri was insignificant 6 hours after breeding. Neutrophilia seems to be induced by spermatozoa rather than bacteria. The intensity of the neutrophil reaction seems to depend on concentration and/or volume of inseminate.  相似文献

Semen cryopreservation is fundamental both for the practice of artificial insemination, and for the conservation of genetic resources in cryobanks; nevertheless, there is still not an efficient standard freezing procedure assuring a steady and suitable level of fertility in fowl, and consequently there is no systematic use of frozen semen in the poultry industry. This study examined changes in motility (CASA), cell membrane integrity (Ethidium Bromide (EtBr) exclusion procedure and stress test) and DNA fragmentation (neutral comet assay) in fowl spermatozoa before, during and after cryopreservation and storage at −196 °C. An optimized comet assay for chicken semen was studied and applied to the analyses. Semen collected from 18 Mericanel della Brianza (local Italian breed) male chicken breeders was frozen in pellets and thawed in a water bath at 60 °C. Measurements were performed on fresh semen soon after dilution, after equilibration with 6% dimethylacetamide at 4 °C (processed semen) and after thawing. Sperm DNA damage occurred during cryopreservation of chicken semen and the proportion of spermatozoa with damaged DNA significantly increased from 6.2% in fresh and 6.4% in processed semen to 19.8% in frozen-thawed semen. The proportion of DNA in the comet tail of damaged spermatozoa was also significantly affected by cryopreservation, with an increase found from fresh (26.3%) to frozen-thawed (30.9%) sperm, whereas processed semen (30.1%) didn't show significant differences. The proportion of total membrane damaged spermatozoa (EtBr exclusion procedure) did not increase by 4 °C equilibration time, and greatly and significantly increased by cryopreservation; the values recorded in fresh, processed and frozen semen were 2.9, 5.6, and 66.7% respectively. As regards the proportion of damaged cells in the stress test, all values differed significantly (7.1% fresh semen, 11.7% processed semen, 63.7% frozen semen). Total motility was not affected by equilibration (52.1% fresh semen, 51.9% processed semen), whereas it decreased significantly after cryopreservation (19.8%). These results suggest a low sensitivity of frozen-thawed chicken spermatozoa to DNA fragmentation, therefore it should not be considered as a major cause of sperm injuries during cryopreservation.  相似文献

We report on microbial contamination of embryos and semen cryopreserved in sealed plastic straws and stored for 6-35 years in liquid nitrogen. There were 32 bacterial and 1 fungal species identified from randomly drawn liquid nitrogen, frozen semen, and embryos samples stored in 8 commercial and 8 research facility liquid nitrogen (LN) tanks. The identified bacteria represented commensal or environmental microorganisms and some, such as Escherichia coli, were potential or opportunistic pathogens for humans and animals. Stenotrophomonas maltophilia was the most common contaminant identified from the samples and was further shown to significantly suppress fertilization and embryonic development in vitro. Analysis of the strains by pulsed field gel electrophoresis revealed restriction patterns with no relatedness indicating that there was no apparent cross-contamination of S. maltophilia strains between the germplasm and liquid nitrogen samples. In addition, no transmission of bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) and bovine herpesvirus-1 (BHV-1) from infected semen and embryos straws to clean germplasm stored in the same LN tanks or LN was detected.  相似文献

This study aimed to compare viability, ATP content, and DNA integrity of rooster (Gallus gallus domesticus) and Barbary partridge (Alectoris barbara) fresh and frozen spermatozoa in order to identify factors possibly related to differences in semen freezability. Ejaculates were obtained from March to May by the abdominal massage method from 3 adult roosters and 12 adult Barbary partridges. Semen was frozen with different cryoprotectants using Lake's diluents as a base medium: 1) glycerol 11%; 2) glycerol 11% and trehalose 70 mmol/L; 3) dimethylacetamide (DMA) 6%; 4) DMA 6% and trehalose 70 mmol/L. Both fresh and frozen semen showed a lower viability and higher intracellular ATP concentrations in the Barbary partridge compared with the rooster (P < 0.05). In the Barbary partridge, semen viability after thawing did not differ among the 4 media used, but glycerol showed positive effects in avoiding a significant loss of ATP after thawing, compared with DMA containing media (P < 0.05). On the other hand, in the rooster a higher viability was recorded when semen was frozen in glycerol containing media compared to DMA (P < 0.0001), while ATP values significantly decreased after thawing (P < 0.05) without showing any differences among the semen frozen in the 4 different media. DNA integrity, as evaluated by the comet assay, was assessed only in frozen semen. In the Barbary partridge, mean scored parameter did not differ significantly among semen frozen in the 4 different media. In the rooster DNA fragmentation was higher in DMA ctr medium compared with the other media and with values found in Barbary partridge semen frozen in the same medium (P < 0.001). In both species, the addition of trehalose did not show any positive effects on viability, ATP levels and DNA integrity after thawing.In conclusion, species-related differences in semen features exist between the rooster and the Barbary partridge and the wide variation observed in ATP levels may account for differences in semen freezabililty between the two species.  相似文献

Background

Interspecific recombinant viruses R1ΔgC and R2ΔgI were isolated after in vitro co-infection with BoHV-1 and BoHV-5, two closely related alphaherpesviruses that infect cattle. The genetic characterization of R1ΔgC and R2ΔgI showed that they are composed of different sections of the parental genomes. The aim of this study was the characterization of the in vivo behavior of these recombinants in the natural host.

Results

Four groups of four 3-month-old calves of both genders were intranasally inoculated with either the recombinant or parental viruses. A control group of two animals was also included. Viral excretion and clinical signs were monitored after infection. Histopathological examination of the central nervous system (CNS) was performed and the establishment of latency in trigeminal ganglia was analyzed by PCR. The humoral response was also evaluated using ELISA tests. Three out of four animals from the BoHV-5 infected group excreted virus for 4-10 days. Two calves shed R1ΔgC virus for one day. In R2ΔgI and BoHV-1.2ΔgCΔgI groups, infectious virus was isolated only after two or three blind passages. None of the infected animals developed neurological signs, although those infected with BoHV-5 showed histopathological evidence of viral infection. Latent viral DNA was detected in at least one calf from each infected group. Serum and/or mucosal antibodies were detected in all groups.

Conclusion

Both BoHV-1/-5 recombinants and the BoHV-1 parental strain are attenuated in calves, although they are able to replicate in animals at low rates and to establish latent infections.  相似文献

BSp120 and BSp66 are trypsin-like serine proteases from bovine spermatozoa. The former is active in cryopreserved sperm samples while the latter shows proteolytic activity in recently obtained fresh sperm. Both proteases are immunologically related and co-localize in the apical portion of the sperm head. In Western blots with specific antibodies, sperm samples incubated with reducing agents showed a decrease in the amount of BSp120, while BSp66 was detected with both anti-BSp120 and anti-BSp66 antibodies. BSp120 was evident in frozen intact spermatozoa after 60 days of semen cryopreservation and the kinetic of appearance of this protein was coincident with the decrease in the amount of BSp66. Identical results were obtained by freezing sperm extracts from fresh semen at -20 degrees C. Our results suggest that BSp120 results from disulfide bond-dimerization of BSp66 and that this process may be induced by temperatures below zero in both intact spermatozoa and in sperm extracts.  相似文献
