Trophic specialization of the larvae of Oecophorid moths from the Palaearctic Region is investigated. The former family Oecophoridae (sensu lato) is presently considered a polyphyletic group and is divided into the separate families Oecophoridae sensu stricto (with subfamilies Deuterogoniinae, Oecophorinae and Pleurotinae), Chimabachidae, Amphisbatidae and Depressariidae. Xyloryctidae, Stathmopodidae, Ethmiidae and Autostichidae are also considered as separate families. In these taxa, two main modes of feeding occur: on dead plants and on living plants. The first mode is inhered in Oecophoridae (in subfamily Pleurotinae both the modes are known) and Autostichidae. The family Amphisbatidae occupies an intermediate position as the larvae of Amphisbatini use dead leaves, whereas the larvae of Fuchsiini and Hypercalliini use green plants. The rest of the families associate with living plants. Trophic specialization in the families formerly included in Oecophoridae mostly corresponds to the taxonomic division based mainly on the morphological characters, although some exceptions are known, e. g. feeding of larvae of Carcina quercana (Oecophoridae, Oecophorinae, Carcinini) on living leaves.  相似文献

The Palaearctic fauna of broad-winged moths (Oecophoridae with the subfamilies Oecophorinae, Pleurotinae, and Deuterogoniinae) comprises 47 genera and 329 species. The number of species rapidly increases from north to south, from 19 species in the Euro-Siberian taiga Region to 149 in the Mediterranean Region, but the Scythian steppe Region (30 species) and Sethian desert Region (49 species) have relatively poor faunas because the majority of oecophorid species are trophically associated with arboreal plants. The proper desert species are very rare among Oecophoridae moths, and the majority of species in the Sethian desert Region occur in the mountains. The number of endemic species is also greater in southern regions; it amounts for more than half of the total number of species in the Hesperian and Orthrian evergreen forest regions and in the Sethian desert Region. The faunas of European (62 species) and Far Eastern (67 species) deciduous forests comprise close numbers of species but are very different, having only 5 species in common. This fact indicates their long isolation. The Oecophoridae are represented in the Palaearctic mainly by the genera with a small number of species, except for 2 genera, Pleurota (100 species) and Promalactis (85 species). The distribution patterns of these genera are opposite: the species of Pleurota are numerous in the south of West Europe and in North Africa, their number quickly decreasing from west to east and only 2 species being present in China (Wang, 2006). The species of Promalactis are numerous in Southeast Asia, their number quickly decreasing from east to west: 3 species occur in Tibet and only 1, P. splendidella (Amsel, 1935), in Israel and Turkey.  相似文献

To evaluate the prevalence rate of tick-borne bacterial pathogens, unfed adult Ixodes ricinus ticks were collected from vegetation in 2001, 2003, and 2004 at 18 localities throughout Serbia. A total of 287 ticks were examined by PCR technique for the presence of Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato, Anaplasma phagocytophilum, and Francisella tularensis. The highest prevalence rate was that for B. burgdorferi sensu lato (42.5%), followed by A. phagocytophilum (13.9%) and F. tularensis (3.8%). The presence of five B. burgdorferi sensu lato genospecies, namely, B. burgdorferi sensu stricto, B. afzelii, B. garinii, B. lusitaniae, and B. valaisiana was identified by restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) analysis. The most frequent B. burgdorferi sensu lato genospecies was B. lusitaniae, followed by B. burgdorferi sensu stricto. Co-infection by B. burgdorferi sensu stricto and B. lusitaniae was frequently observed. Co-infection by B. burgdorferi sensu lato and A. phagocytophilum and co-infection by B. burgdorferi sensu lato and F. tularensis appeared in 24 ticks. Sequencing of p44/msp2 paralogs of Serbian A. phagocytophilum showed that they were unique and distinct from those of A. phagocytophilum in US and UK. This is the first report of B. garinii, B. lusitaniae, B. valaisiana, as well as A. phagocytophilum and F. tularensis infected ticks in Serbia. These findings indicate a public health threat in Serbia of tick-borne diseases caused by B. burgdorferi sensu lato, A. phagocytophilum and F. tularensis.  相似文献

More than a decade after a study on the transmission cycle of Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato in the Siebengebirge, a nature reserve near Bonn, Germany, questing nymphal and adult Ixodes ricinus ticks were collected again in three selected areas of the same low mountain range and examined for infection with B. burgdorferi sensu lato. Between May and October 2001, a total of 1,754 ticks were collected by blanket dragging; 374 ticks were analyzed for B. burgdorferi sensu lato by both an immunofluorescence assay (IFA) and at least two different PCR tests, whereas 171 ticks were analyzed by PCR only. By combining all assays, an average of 14% of the ticks tested positive for B. burgdorferi sensu lato, 5.5, 15.8, and 21.8% in the three collection areas. Of the nymphs and adults examined, 12.9 and 21.1%, respectively, were found to be spirochete infected. A lower total infection prevalence was obtained by IFA (14.4%) than by a nested PCR approach (16.5%), but both were higher than that obtained by a simple PCR approach (11.9%). Compared with data collected over a decade ago, the mean infection prevalence of B. burgdorferi sensu lato in the ticks was significantly higher for all three biotopes, whereas a similar pattern of habitat-specific infection prevalence was observed. Genotyping of B. burgdorferi sensu lato revealed high relative prevalences of B. valaisiana (identified in 43.1% of infected ticks) and B. garinii (32.3%), whereas B. afzelii (12.3%) and B. burgdorferi sensu stricto (1.5%) were relatively rare. We conclude that B. burgdorferi sensu lato infection has increased in this region over the last 15 years due to presently unknown changes in ecological conditions, perhaps related to climate change or wildlife management.  相似文献

CLADISTICS AND FAMILY LEVEL CLASSIFICATION OF THE GENTIANALES   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Abstract— The most recent classification of the angiosperm order Gentianales (Thorne, 1992) includes four principal families: Apocynaceae, Gentianaceae, Loganiaceae, and Rubiaceae. Ever since Bentham (1857) the status of Loganiaceae has been questioned, and several segregates of that family have been proposed both before and after his treatment. In this study we present cladistic results that show Loganiaceae, sensu lato, to be a paraphyletic group definable only by plesiomorphies, with members showing closest relationships to other families of the order. As the impact of different character-state representations of polymorphic terminals remains largely untested, our morphological and phytochemical data were analysed both with restricted polymorphism coding as well as with the monomorphic "subtaxon" recoding method of Nixon and Davis (1991). Both approaches yield highly compatible results, and we here discuss a new classification of the Gentianales based on (i) monophyletic groups identified by outgroup analysis, and (ii) the maximal portrayal of evidence provided by subtaxon polymorphism recoding. Most prominently, the Loganiaceae sensu lato are divided into four segregate families, two previously named (Loganiaceae sensu stricto and Strychnaceae), and two defined as a result of this study (Gelsemiaceae, L. Struwe & V. A. Albert, stat. nov. and Geniostomaceae, L. Struwe & V. A. Albert, fam. nov.). Apocynaceae (incl. Asclepiadaceae), Gentianaceae (incl. Loganiaceae—Potalieae), and Rubiaceae remain as monophyletic families. Outgroup analysis supports both the monophyly of the Gentianales as well as the exclusion from the order of Buddleja, Desfontainia, Plocosperma, Polypremum , and Retzia (all Loganiaceae sensu Leeuwenberg and Leenhouts).  相似文献

Phialocephala fortinii sensu lato was isolated from Picea abies roots that had been collected from the same 3 x 3-m forest plot in 2001 and 2004, to examine the spatial and temporal dynamics of this fungal community. RFLP analysis was used to define the multilocus haplotype (MLH) of each isolate. Pielou's measure of association and chi(2) tests of independence were employed to examine the randomness of patterns of spatial distribution of MLH observed in 2001 and 2004. Population differentiation between the two samplings was tested using the G(ST) statistic. In 2001, 144 strains of 28 MLH were isolated; in 2004, 139 strains of 29 MLH. Abundant MLH in 2001 also prevailed in 2004, and the same two cryptic species were dominant in both collections. The probability of being isolated in both years increased with increasing frequency of an MLH. The patterns of spatial distribution of most MLH did not differ between years. The G(ST) values indicated identity of the two collections. Communities of P. fortinii sensu lato remain spatially and genetically stable for at least 3 yr.  相似文献

LUQUE, T. & VALDÉS, B., 1984. Karyological studies on Spanish Boraginaceae: Lithospenum L. sensu lato . All of the Spanish taxa of Lithospermum L. sensu lato (Lithospermum sensu stricto, Neatostema, Buglossoides and Lithodora ), with the exception of Buglossoides gartonii (Bentham) I. M. Johnston, have been studied karyologically. The karyological characters allow the separation of three groups which do not correspond exactly with the morphological limits of the four genera actually recognized for Spain within Lithospermum sensu lato .

Unfed nymphal and adult Ixodes ricinus ticks were collected from five locations within the 10,000-ha Killarney National Park, Ireland. The distribution and prevalence of the genomospecies of Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato in the ticks were investigated by PCR amplification of the intergenic spacer region between the 5S and 23S rRNA genes and by reverse line blotting with genomospecies-specific oligonucleotide probes. The prevalence of ticks infected with B. burgdorferi sensu lato was significantly variable between the five locations, ranging from 11.5 to 28.9%. Four genomospecies were identified as B. burgdorferi sensu stricto, Borrelia afzelii, Borrelia garinii, and VS116. Additionally, untypeable B. burgdorferi sensu lato genomospecies were identified in two nymphs. VS116 was the most prevalent of the genomospecies and was identified in 50% of the infected ticks. Prevalences of B. garinii and B. burgdorferi sensu stricto were similar (17 and 18%, respectively); however, significant differences were observed in the prevalence of these genomospecies in mixed infections (58.8 and 23.5%, respectively). Notably, the prevalence of B. afzelii was low, comprising 9.6 and 7.4%, respectively, of single and mixed infections. Significant variability was observed in the distribution and prevalence of B. burgdorferi sensu lato genomospecies between locations in the park, and the diversity and prevalence of B. burgdorferi sensu lato genomospecies was typically associated with woodland. The distributions of B. burgdorferi sensu lato genomospecies were similar in wooded areas and in areas bordering woodland, although the prevalence of B. burgdorferi sensu lato infection was typically reduced. Spatial distributions vegetation composition, and host cenosis of the habitats were identified as factors which may affect the distribution and prevalence of B. burgdorferi sensu lato genomospecies within the park.  相似文献

棕囊藻属藻类生活史复杂、地理差异显著、游动单细胞个体微小,至今尚无明确的分类标准。在目前已报道的9个种中,Sournia(1988)认为只有两个种比较可靠,即形成胶群体的P.pouchetii(sensu lato)(包括P.globosa)和不形成胶群体的P.scrobiculata;一些学者将P.puchetii(sensu lato)进一步细分成P.pouchetii(sensu stricto)、P.globosa,P.antarctica等3种,为方便起见,多数学者将形成胶群体的棕囊藻定名为P.pouchetii,或写成未定种的形式Phaeocystis sp.棕囊藻属分类的混乱制约了相关研究的深入,解决棕囊藻分类混乱问题有赖于新的技术和方法的使用。  相似文献

Cladistic analyses were carried out to infer the phylogenetic relationships among taxa that were originally part of the large genus Eumenes. Terminals belonging to other eumenine lineages were also included, as well as terminals from other vespid subfamilies. Analyses under equal weights and implied weights were carried out, and better results were obtained with the latter. The results corroborated the monophyly of Eumeninae, and recovered Zethini sensu lato as the sister‐lineage to the remaining eumenines. Eumenes sensu lato as originally recognized is paraphyletic relative to Odynerus sensu lato. A natural classification at the tribal level congruent with the phylogenetic results may be proposed, and the names Zethini, Odynerini, and Eumenini are already available. This is the most comprehensive phylogeny of the Eumeninae to date. A new generic synonymy is Alfieria Giordani Soika, 1934 = Delta de Saussure, 1855.  相似文献

The role of small mammals as reservoir hosts for Borrelia burgdorferi was investigated in several areas where Lyme disease is endemic in northern Spain. A low rate of infestation by Ixodes ricinus nymphs was found in the small mammal populations studied that correlated with the near-absence of B. burgdorferi sensu lato in 184 animals tested and with the lack of transmission of B. burgdorferi sensu lato to I. ricinus larvae that fed on them. In contrast, questing ticks collected at the same time and in the same areas were found to carry a highly variable B. burgdorferi sensu lato repertoire (B. burgdorferi sensu stricto, Borrelia garinii, Borrelia valaisiana, and Borrelia afzelii). Interestingly, the only isolate obtained from small mammals (R57, isolated from a bank vole) grouped by phylogenetic analyses with other Borrelia species but in a separate clade from the Lyme disease and relapsing fever organisms, suggesting that it is a new species. This new agent was widely distributed among small mammals, with infection rates of 8.5 to 12% by PCR. Moreover, a high seroprevalence to B. burgdorferi sensu lato was found in the animal sera, suggesting cross-reactivity between B. burgdorferi sensu lato and R57. Although small mammals do not seem to play an important role as reservoirs for B. burgdorferi sensu lato in the study area, they seem to be implicated in the maintenance of spirochetes similar to R57.

Relationships among the morphologically diverse members of Saxifragaceae sensu lato were inferred using 130 18S rDNA sequences. Phylogenetic analyses were conducted using representatives of all 17 subfamilies of Saxifragaceae sensu lato, as well as numerous additional taxa traditionally assigned to subclasses Magnoliidae, Caryophyllidae, Hamamelidae, Dilleniidae, Rosidae, and Asteridae. This analysis indicates that Saxifragaceae should be narrowly defined (Saxifragaceae sensu stricto) to consist of ~30 herbaceous genera. Furthermore, Saxifragaceae s. s. are part of a well-supported clade (referred to herein as Saxifragales) that also comprises lteoideae, Pterostemonoideae, Ribesioideae, Penthoroideae, and Tetracarpaeoideae, all traditional subfamilies of Saxifragaceae sensu lato, as well as Crassulaceae and Haloragaceae (both of subclass Rosidae). Paeoniaceae (Dilleniideae), and Hamamelidaceae, Cercidiphyllaceae, and Daphniphyllaceae (all of Hamamelidae). The remaining subfamilies of Saxifragaceae sensu lato fall outside this clade. Francoa (Francooideae) and Bauera (Baueroideae) are allied, respectively, with the rosid families Greyiaceae and Cunoniaceae. Brexia (Brexioideae), Parnassia (Parnassioideae), and Lepuropetolon (Lepuropetaloideae) appear in a clade with Celastraceae. Representatives of Phyllonomoideae, Eremosynoideae, Hydrangeoideae, Escallonioideae, Montinioideae, and Vahlioideae are related to taxa belonging to an expanded asterid clade (Asteridae sensu lato). The relationships suggested by analysis of 18S rDNA sequences are highly concordant with those suggested by analysis of rbcL sequences. Furthermore, these relationships are also supported in large part by other lines of evidence, including embryology. serology, and iridoid chemistry.  相似文献

The saga of the spurges: a review of classification and relationships in the Euphorbiales. The order Euphorbiales, defined by Lindley in 1836, has undergone many vicissitudes to the present day. Over 30 families have been referred to the Euphorbiales by various authors, but most of them no longer appear closely related to the Euphorbiaceae. Several families commonly referred to Euphorbiales (or Tricoccae) in the 19th century now appear better located in other orders: Buxaceae in Hamamelidales (sensu lato), Empetraceae in Ericales, and Callitrichaceae in Lamiales. Several putatively related families, including the Aextoxicaceae, Stackhousiaceae, and Dichapetalaceae, appear to be of Celastralean affinity. The Simmondsiaceae, a problematical family once referred to the Buxaceae, have been included in the Euphorbiales in recent classifications, but the evidence for this is still inconclusive. Thymelaceaceae show a number of similarities to Euphorbiaceae, but share a greater number of distinctive characters with Malvales. The Euphorbiales show affinities to both the Malvales and Geraniales {sensu lato), and separation of these three orders between two major dicotyledon subclasses (Dilleniidae and Rosidae) appears questionable. The evidence does not support recognizing segregate families from the Euphorbiaceae such as the Bischofiaceae, Picrodendraceae and Stilaginaceae; the Euphorbiales are therefore best construed as containing a single major family, the Euphorbiaceae, as suggested by Hutchinson; the small family Pandaceae is also included in the Euphorbiales but may not be separable from the Euphorbiaceae. The recent classifications of Airy Shaw and Webster agree in many respects, and areas of disagreement indicate the need for additional data gathering and analysis.  相似文献

Little attention has been given in scientific literature to how introduced species may act as a new host for native infectious agents and modify the epidemiology of a disease. In this study, we investigated whether an introduced species, the Siberian chipmunk (Tamias sibiricus barberi), was a potentially new reservoir host for Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato, the causative agent of Lyme disease. First, we ascertained whether chipmunks were infected by all of the B. burgdorferi sensu lato genospecies associated with rodents and available in their source of infection, questing nymphs. Second, we determined whether the prevalence and diversity of B. burgdorferi sensu lato in chipmunks were similar to those of a native reservoir rodent, the bank vole (Myodes glareolus). Our research took place between 2006 and 2008 in a suburban French forest, where we trapped 335 chipmunks and 671 voles and collected 743 nymphs of ticks that were questing for hosts by dragging on the vegetation. We assayed for B. burgdorferi sensu lato with ear biopsy specimens taken from the rodents and in nymphs using PCR and restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP). Chipmunks were infected by the three Borrelia genospecies that were present in questing nymphs and that infect rodents (B. burgdorferi sensu stricto, B. afzelii, and B. garinii). In contrast, voles hosted only B. afzelii. Furthermore, chipmunks were more infected (35%) than voles (16%). These results may be explained by the higher exposure of chipmunks, because they harbor more ticks, or by their higher tolerance of other B. burgdorferi sensu lato genospecies than of B. afzelii. If chipmunks are competent reservoir hosts for B. burgdorferi sensu lato, they may spill back B. burgdorferi sensu lato to native communities and eventually may increase the risk of Lyme disease transmission to humans.  相似文献

Scale insects (Hemiptera: Sternorrhyncha: Coccoidea) are a speciose and morphologically specialized group of plant-feeding bugs in which evolutionary relationships and thus higher classification are controversial. Sequences derived from nuclear small-subunit ribosomal DNA were used to generate a preliminary molecular phylogeny for the Coccoidea based on 39 species representing 14 putative families. Monophyly of the archaeococcoids (comprising Ortheziidae, Margarodidae sensu lato, and Phenacoleachia) was equivocal, whereas monophyly of the neococcoids was supported. Putoidae, represented by Puto yuccae, was found to be outside the remainder of the neococcoid clade. These data are consistent with a single origin (in the ancestor of the neococcoid clade) of a chromosome system involving paternal genome elimination in males. Pseudococcidae (mealybugs) appear to be sister to the rest of the neococcoids and there are indications that Coccidae (soft scales) and Kerriidae (lac scales) are sister taxa. The Eriococcidae (felt scales) was not recovered as a monophyletic group and the eriococcid genus Eriococcus sensu lato was polyphyletic.  相似文献

Phylogenetic relationships among Geastrales, Gomphales, Hysterangiales, and Phallales were estimated via combined sequences: nuclear large subunit ribosomal DNA (nuc-25S-rDNA), mitochondrial small subunit ribosomal DNA (mit-12S-rDNA), and mitochondrial atp6 DNA (mit-atp6-DNA). Eighty-one taxa comprising 19 genera and 58 species were investigated, including members of the Clathraceae, Gautieriaceae, Geastraceae, Gomphaceae, Hysterangiaceae, Phallaceae, Protophallaceae, and Sphaerobolaceae. Although some nodes deep in the tree could not be fully resolved, some well-supported lineages were recovered, and the interrelationships among Gloeocantharellus, Gomphus, Phaeoclavulina, and Turbinellus, and the placement of Ramaria are better understood. Both Gomphus sensu lato and Ramaria sensu lato comprise paraphyletic lineages within the Gomphaceae. Relationships of the subgenera of Ramaria sensu lato to each other and to other members of the Gomphales were clarified. Within Gomphus sensu lato, Gomphus sensu stricto, Turbinellus, Gloeocantharellus and Phaeoclavulina are separated by the presence/absence of clamp connections, spore ornamentation (echinulate, verrucose, subreticulate or reticulate), and basidiomal morphology (fan-shaped, funnel-shaped or ramarioid). Gautieria, a sequestrate genus in the Gautieriaceae, was recovered as monophyletic and nested with members of Ramaria subgenus Ramaria. This agrees with previous observations of traits shared by these two ectomycorrhizal taxa, such as the presence of fungal mats in the soil. Clavariadelphus was recovered as a sister group to Beenakia, Kavinia, and Lentaria. The results reaffirm relationships between the Geastrales, Gomphales, Hysterangiales, and the Phallales, suggesting extensive convergence in basidiomal morphology among members of these groups. A more extensive sampling that focuses on other loci (protein-coding genes have been shown to be phylogenetically informative) may be useful to answer questions about evolutionary relationships among these fungal groups.  相似文献
