The unusually harsh environmental conditions of terrestrial Antarctic habitats result in ecosystems with simplified trophic structures, where microbial processes are especially dominant as drivers of soil-borne nutrient cycling. We examined soil-borne Antarctic communities (bacteria, fungi and nematodes) at five locations along a southern latitudinal gradient from the Falkland Islands (51 degrees S) to the base of the Antarctic Peninsula (72 degrees S), and compared principally vegetated vs. fell-field locations at three of these sites. Results of molecular (denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis, real-time PCR), biochemical (ergosterol, phospholipid fatty acids) and traditional microbiological (temperature- and medium-related CFU) analyses were related to key soil and environmental properties. Microbial abundance generally showed a significant positive relationship with vegetation and vegetation-associated soil factors (e.g. water content, organic C, total N). Microbial community structure was mainly related to latitude or location and latitude-dependent factors (e.g. mean temperature, NO3, pH). Furthermore, strong interactions between vegetation cover and location were observed, with the effects of vegetation cover being most pronounced in more extreme sites. These results provide insight into the main drivers of microbial community size and structure across a range of terrestrial Antarctic and sub-Antarctic habitats, potentially serving as a useful baseline to study the impact of predicted global warming on these unique and pristine ecosystems.  相似文献

Zusammenfassung In der vorgelegten Arbeit wurde die sogenante deduktive Klassifikationsmethode der anthropogenen Pflanzengesellschaften behandelt. Diese Methode geht vom System der höheren Vegetationseinheiten der Braun-Blanquet Schule aus. Sie ermöglicht die syntaxonomische Bearbeitung zahlreicher anthropogener Gesellschaften unserer Kulturlandschaft, die nur aus Arten mit breiterer ökologischer und zönologischer Amplitude zusammengesetzt sind, und zwar ohne unerwünschte Verwechslung der Bestimmungsmerkmale einzelner Rangstufen des Systems (Klassen-, Ordnungs-, Verbands- und Assoziationskenn-und trennarten). Die Grundprinzipien der Methode wurden schon früher von Kopecký & Hejný (1971, 1973, 1974) und Kopecký (1976) erläutert. Die vorliegende Arbeit bringt eine präzisierte Auslegung der Methode auf Grund neuer Erfahrungen, die bei der Bearbeitung der spontan entstandenen strassenbegleitenden Gesellschaften derMolinio-Arrhenatheretea Tx. 1937 in Nordostböhmen gewonnen wurden. Aus dem reichen Aufnahmematerial werden nur einige Aufnahmen der Basalgesellschaften mitAlopecurus pratensis und der von ihnen abgeleiteten Derivatgesellschaften mitDactylis glomerata undAgropyron repens fur die anschauliche Demonstration der Methode beigegeben (Tab. 1 und 2). Die Aufnahmen der übrigen Gesellschafts-typen werden in einer anderen Arbeit (Kopecký 1978) veröffentlicht.
Summary Use of a so-called deductive method in syntaxonomic classification of roadside plant communities in NE Bohemia.The present paper explains the so-called deductive method of syntaxonomic classification of plant communities, derived from the system of syntaxa of higher rank of the Braun-Blanquet approach. This method enables the synthesis of vegetations units of the varied anthropogenic plant communities in the man-made landscape, and their arrangement within the existing system, without changing the classification and determination criteria of both the higher and lower syntaxa in this system. Basic principles of this method have been outlined earlier by Kopecký & Hejný (1971, 1973, 1974) and Kopecký (1976). Following the newly obtained data and experience, this paper brings further details and more precise explanation of the method. Recently, the deductive method has been applied to the classification of turf communities which spontaneously develop along the roads in NE Bohemia. In order to illustrate the principles of the method, selected relevés of basal communities withAlopecurus pratensis (Table 1), and respective communities derived from these basal communities (Table 2) are presented. A complete set of vegetation relevés of all other roadside communities will be published elsewhere (Kopecký 1978).

通过PCR、克隆文库方法分析了农业有机废物和城市垃圾堆肥高温期间细菌和真菌种群的多样性.提取堆肥高温期的DNA,PCR扩增,构建各高温期的16S rDNA和18S rDNA克隆文库,结果表明:农业有机废物和城市生活垃圾16S rDNA克隆文库中分别共有18个、21个OTUs,分别属于细菌域的14个、15个不同属,其18S rDNA克隆文库中分别共有8个、9个OTUs,分别属于细菌域的8个、9个不同属,推断农业有机废物堆体的优势菌为Bacillus megaterium、Rhizobium sp.、Phanerochaete chrysosporium、Penicillium sp.同属或同种的菌株;城市生活垃圾堆体的优势菌为Bacillus megaterium、Azospirillum sp.、Phanerochaete chrysosporium同种或同属的菌株.  相似文献

本文将森林群落复杂性定义为消除群落中任意一个树木个体的种名及层次不确定性所需的平均信息量,提出用联合熵H(X,Y)测度群落复杂性.H(X,Y)=H(X)+H(Y|X),其中H(X)=-∑Si=1(ni)/(N)log2((ni)/(N)),H(Y|X)=-∑Si=1(ni)/(N)∑4j=1(nij)/(ni)log2((nij)/(ni)),分别为树种组成复杂性和树种结构复杂性.式中S为森林群落树种数,N为森林群落的树木总株数,ni(i=1,2,...,S)为第i个树种的株数,nij(j=1,2,3,4)为第i个树种在第j层次的株数.用联合熵分析了广东省封开县黑石顶自然保护区针叶林、针阔混交林和常绿阔叶林等3种典型森林类型的复杂性.结果表明,群落复杂性的顺序为常绿阔叶林>针阔混交林>针叶林.同时,各森林类型的群落复杂性H(X,Y)与取样尺度之间具有较好的分形关系.  相似文献

采用χ^2检验方法和相关分析等方法对山西天龙山木本植物群落进行了种间关系分析.结果表明木本植物群落的种间关系以正相关为主,但是负关联的比重也较大,而且还有一定的独立格局存在,表明物种间的关系不大稳定,群落正处于发展演替之中,同时也表明物种对环境资源的竞争并不激烈,物种资源比较丰富。  相似文献

The community structure of two confluent streams in southern Sweden was investigated, one stream was spring-fed and the other lake-fed. There was a downstream decrease in the number of species present in the lake outlet stream, no such change being discernible in the spring-fed stream. Taking the sampling site nearest the source of the spring-fed stream as the reference point, there was a downstream increase in dissimilarity and this increase was maintained upstream from the confluence in the lake-fed stream. Apart from generalists, all functional feeding groups showed decreased numbers from the lake outlet to the confluence in the lake-fed stream. In the spring-fed stream, densities of functional groups increased downstream, with the exception of grazers and generalists. There were indications of more predictable changes along the lake-fed stream compared to the spring-fed one, which seemed more influenced by site-specific factors.  相似文献

The Asian citrus psyllid (Diaphorina citri) is a major pest of the citrus industry and is also the vector for Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus (CLas), a destructive Huanglongbing (HLB) disease of citrus trees. Insect endosymbionts and gut bacteria play important roles in vector-pathogen interactions and host immunity. Thus, our aim was to evaluate the correlation between CLas infection and the microbiome in D. citri by conducting 16S rRNA amplification sequencing on insects successfully and unsuccessfully infected with CLas (CLas-infected and non-infected). Genera Candidatus Profftella, Wolbachia, and Candidatus Carsonella were highly abundant genera in all tested samples. Compared with the non-infected and control groups, CLas-infected samples harboured more observed OTUs and showed higher alpha diversity metrics. Principal coordinate analysis based on beta-diversity metrics indicated two distinct clusters between the CLas-infected samples and non-infected/control samples. Subsequent LEfSe analysis revealed that Candidatus Profftella was more abundant in the non-infected group than in the control and CLas-infected groups. The interaction network also indicated a co-exclusion relationship between Candidatus Profftella and CLas, while CLas co-existed with Wolbachia, several Enterobacteriaceae spp., and multiple other bacteria. Our study provides insight into the interaction between the microbiome community in D. citri and CLas, which can facilitate the management of this pest and its associated pathogen.  相似文献

Highly specific environmental factors such as the presence of strongly mineralized water, oxygenation of the water down to 10 m, a low trophic status of the water and low organic matter content in the bottom sediments, were found in the studied post-exploitation Lake Piaseczno. Of the 42 macroinvertebrate taxa found, Oligochaeta (Tubificidae) and Chironomidae predominated. Almost exclusively ubiquitous species were found, except for some chironomid taxa recorded for the first time in Poland. The most diversified faunal communities occurred at 1 m water depth whereas the highest densities were found at 5 m. At the deepest points studied only oligochaetes and Chaoborus flavicans were found. There was no correlation between organic matter content and macrofauna densities. Differences in inhabitation at the studied transects could result from various environmental factors such as the degree of macrophyte cover and protection from the wind. Undisturbed transects overgrown by macrophytes had a similar community composition and higher faunal densities than those which were less protected.  相似文献

We explore the consequences of modifying the way in which species are defined in an evolutionary food web model. In the original version of the model, the species were defined in terms of a fixed number of features, chosen from a large number of possibilities. These features represented phenotypic and behavioural characteristics of the species. Speciation consisted in occasionally replacing one of the features by another. Here we modify this scheme by firstly allowing for a richer structure and secondly by testing whether we are able to eliminate the need for an explicit choice of features altogether. In the first case we allow for changing the number of features which define a species, as well as their nature, and find that in the resulting webs the higher trophic levels typically contain species with the greatest number of features. In the second case, by a simplification of the mechanisms for inter and intra-species competition, we construct a model without any explicit features and find that we are still able to grow model food webs. We assess the quality of the food webs produced and discuss the consequences of our findings for the future modelling of food webs.  相似文献

 贺兰山位于中国温带草原和温带荒漠的过渡带,是研究干旱区山地物种多样性海拔格局的理想区域。该文通过样方法调查研究区的森林和灌丛群落,并运用广义可加模型分析物种多样性的海拔分布格局。结果表明:1)海拔是物种丰富度的重要影响因子,一般能解释原始数据30%~40%的变差。2)对于森林和灌丛群落,草本植物都是群落中比例最高的物种, 而且决定了群落总物种丰富度的海拔分布格局。3)森林群落的乔木层物种丰富度在中海拔区域最高,反映了中海拔区域相对优越的水热条件。灌木层和草本层的物种丰富度明显受到乔木层郁闭度的影响,有随海拔升高而降低的趋势。4)灌丛群落的灌木层和草本层物种丰富度均呈单峰格局,皆因低海拔的干旱和高海拔的寒冷抑制了多数物种的生存,仅气候条件适宜的中海拔区域能够生存丰富的物种。  相似文献

Aim Invasive ants can have substantial and detrimental effects on co‐occurring community members, especially other ants. However, the ecological factors that promote both their population growth and their negative influences remain elusive. Opportunistic associations between invasive ants and extrafloral nectary (EFN)‐bearing plants are common and may fuel population expansion and subsequent impacts of invasive ants on native communities. We examined three predictions of this hypothesis, compared ant assemblages between invaded and uninvaded sites and assessed the extent of this species in Samoa. Location The Samoan Archipelago (six islands and 35 sites). Methods We surveyed abundances of the invasive ant Anoplolepis gracilipes, other ant species and EFN‐bearing plants. Results Anoplolepis gracilipes was significantly more widely distributed in 2006 than in 1962, suggesting that the invasion of A. gracilipes in Samoa has progressed. Furthermore, (non‐A. gracilipes) ant assemblages differed significantly between invaded and uninvaded sites. Anoplolepis gracilipes workers were found more frequently at nectaries than other plant parts, suggesting that nectar resources were important to this species. There was a strong, positive relationship between the dominance of EFN‐bearing plants in the community and A. gracilipes abundance on plants, a relationship that co‐occurring ants did not display. High abundances of A. gracilipes at sites dominated by EFN‐bearing plants were associated with low species richness of native plant‐visiting ant species. Anoplolepis gracilipes did not display any significant relationships with the diversity of other non‐native ants. Main conclusions Together, these data suggest that EFN‐bearing plants may promote negative impacts of A. gracilipes on co‐occurring ants across broad spatial scales. This study underscores the potential importance of positive interactions in the dynamics of species invasions. Furthermore, they suggest that conservation managers may benefit from explicit considerations of potential positive interactions in predicting the identities of problematic invaders or the outcomes of species invasions.  相似文献

The effects of Cd2+, Cr3+ and Zn2+ on the microbial activity of water and sediment samples from a contaminated stream were studied. The maximum [14C]glucose uptake (Vmax) and the mineralization (14CO2) rates were determined. A 10% reduction in Vmax was obtained at lower metal concentrations in water samples than in sediment ones. Moreover, a 10% decrease in 14CO2 was observed at significantly minor metal levels, so 14CO2 was more sensitive to evaluated heavy metal pollution. On the basis of MICs obtained for both communities, they were more sensitive to Cd2+ than to Cr3+ and Zn2+. Zinc was less inhibitory to Vmax and 14CO2 rates; Cr3+ showed an intermediate toxicity, and Cd2+ was 10–100 times more inhibitory than the other metals.  相似文献

该研究采用时空互代法、连续带指数法等,对贵州省黔东南州的白云岩喀斯特区60个具有代表性的典型样地的植物种组组成、以及各演替阶段植物群落高度、密度、生物量、生物多样性指数、均匀度指数、生态优势度指数等进行调查分析,以探讨白云岩喀斯特区植物群落的演化特征,为深入研究白云岩喀斯特区植物群落自然恢复规律奠定基础。结果表明:(1)各种组的优势种组成不同,种组替代规律依次为先锋种、次先锋种、过渡种,最终被顶极种替代的过程。(2)群落的高度、密度、生物量等结构特征随植物群落演替发展呈逐渐增大趋势,变化范围分别为0.58~9.54m、585~3 145株·hm-2、8.45~128.56t·hm-2。(3)植物群落的物种丰富度随演替阶段的发展呈下降趋势,从草本群落阶段到顶极群落阶段物种数由48种降低到10种。(4)随着植物群落演替阶段的发展,生物多样性指数呈先升高后降低的趋势,即由草本群落的3.48升高到草灌群落的4.73,后降到顶极群落的3.46;均匀度指数呈降低趋势,最高为草本群落阶段的0.95,最低为常绿阔叶林阶段的0.78;生态优势度指数逐渐升高,顶极群落达到最大,为0.10。  相似文献

Nearly 40 years ago, Dr. R.J. Gibbons made the first reports of the clinical relevance of what we now know as bacterial biofilms when he published his observations of the role of polysaccharide glycocalyx formation on teeth by Streptococcus mutans [Sci. Am. 238 (1978) 86]. As the clinical relevance of bacterial biofilm formation became increasingly apparent, interest in the phenomenon exploded. Studies are rapidly shedding light on the biomolecular pathways leading to this sessile mode of growth but many fundamental questions remain. The intent of this review is to consider the reasons why bacteria switch from a free-floating to a biofilm mode of growth. The currently available wealth of data pertaining to the molecular genetics of biofilm formation in commonly studied, clinically relevant, single-species biofilms will be discussed in an effort to decipher the motivation behind the transition from planktonic to sessile growth in the human body. Four potential incentives behind the formation of biofilms by bacteria during infection are considered: (1) protection from harmful conditions in the host (defense), (2) sequestration to a nutrient-rich area (colonization), (3) utilization of cooperative benefits (community), (4) biofilms normally grow as biofilms and planktonic cultures are an in vitro artifact (biofilms as the default mode of growth).  相似文献

The structure of the rotifer community in relation to lake pH, trophic status, the type of planktivore assemblage and the crustacean community was assessed in a survey of 23 lakes ranging in pH from 4.4 to 7.3, and in a study of two lakes — one acidic, the other circumneutral — during two summers. In both investigations the number of rotifer species encountered per sample was strongly reduced with pH. Although the reason for this is not clear acid-stress, the ultraoligotrophic nature of the acidic lakes, and competitive interactions with crustacean zooplankters may all have played a role. More importantly the ecological significance of this relationship is not known. The rotifer Keratella taurocephala was a principle species in the most acidic lakes, while several common rotifers were notably absent from these lakes. Although rotifer abundance was correlated with lake pH, the results of this study indicate that rotifer abundance is not a result of lake pH per se, but of lake trophic status and interactions with the crustacean community.  相似文献

On the basis of periodic collections of rotifers from 29 lakes and ponds over 2500 m above sea level in the Sierra Nevada (Southern Spain), patterns of species richness, distribution and community composition were evaluated. Results allow us to distinguish communities which fall into two major lake types. One is defined by the presence of typically planktonic species as well as lower specific richness whereas the other includes communities of mainly benthic and periphytic species. Both lake types seem to be related to small differences in their physical and chemical characteristics. A monthly zooplankton survey has been conducted from March 1982 to March 1983 at three shallow stations of Thau, a northern-mediterranean lagoon. These stations differ by their distance from the entry of sea-water in the lagoon. Parameters such as pH, temperature, dissolved oxygen, conductivity and turbidity have been measured simultaneously with the sampling in the same water layer. The zooplankton collected corresponds to species usually found in marine neritic communities. In the spring, species richness is maximum. During the summer, meroplankton forms dominant populations in the communities. Autumn is marked by a reduction of the number of species and of the abundance in both components, holoplankton and meroplankton. Few species are present in the winter holoplankton while meroplankton disappears practically from the samples. The sites under observation are subjected to unpredictable changes, in water movement as well as in the organization of the zooplankton communities. These modifications are strongly influenced by weather conditions.  相似文献
