Rural and urban settlements of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) are characterized by intense marriage migrations: both indigenous residents of different uluses (districts) of the republic (7–30%) and migrants from outside Yakutia (7–29%) contract marriages in five administrative centers analyzed in this respect. All the populations studied are characterized by a wide geographic range of the birthplaces of persons contracted marriages there (from 14 to 24 uluses of Yakutia), without any predominant migration flow from one district to another. The proportion of homolocal marriages among indigenous ethnic groups (Evenks, Evens, and Yukagirs) is as high as 75–100%; this proportion among Yakuts varies from 26 to 68%; heterolocal marriages are more characteristic of Russian immigrants (41–95%). Positive assortative marriages among persons with the same birthplaces have been found in all populations except for Momsky ulus.  相似文献

The marriage structure of the population of Ulan Ude, the capital of Buryat Republic, which is characterized by a mixed ethnic composition, has been studied. Differences between Ulan Ude districts in a number of genetic demographic parameters have been found. In ethnic terms, the city district populations differ from one another in the number of ethnic groups and the proportions of the largest groups (Russians and Buryats). In the total Ulan Ude population, the proportions of Russian men and women among persons contracting marriages are 71.44 and 73.79%, respectively; those of Buryat men and women are 23.36 and 22.79%, respectively. The total proportion of all other ethnic groups among both men and women contracting marriages is no more than 5.2%. The mean ages at first marriage in both indigenous and immigrant populations of Ulan Ude are relatively old; these values are 25.9 and 24.72 years for Buryat men and women and 24.86 and 22.69 for non-indigenous men and women, respectively.  相似文献

Relationships between ethnic and genetic differentiation with respect to 54 microsatellites have been analyzed in five Daghestan ethnic groups. To detect the microsatellites, human chromosomes 3, 17, and 18 were screened with a step of 10 cM (Weber/CHLC 9.0 markers) at the Mammalian Genotyping Service (National Institute of Health, United States). Comparison of the polymorphism of these loci in Daghestan populations with average worldwide data has revealed generally low heterozygosity in Daghestan populations, which is accounted for by traditional endogamous and consanguineous marriages throughout the history of these populations. The inbreeding coefficient in Daghestan ethnic groups varies from 0.005 to 0.0134 and is close to the worldwide maximum known to date. For some DNA loci, significant differences between the offsprings of consanguineous and exogamous marriages with respect to allele sizes and their variance have been found. The Daghestan ethnic populations studied differ from one another in both the frequencies of common alleles and the presence of rare alleles that are unique for each ethnic group of Daghestan and have not been found in any other population in the world.  相似文献

The dynamics of population marriage structure in the period from 1951 to 1997 has been studied in three villages of Altai Republic: Kulada (Ongudaisk raion), Beshpeltir (Chemal raion), and Kurmach-Baigol (Turochak raion). These populations have been found to differ from one another in the intensity and direction of migration, as well a its temporal pattern with respect to the birthplaces and ethnicity of persons contracting marriages. Periods of active incorporation of non-Altaian (mostly Slavic) ethnic components into the gene pools of the Beshpeltir and Kurmach-Baigol populations have been detected. The geographic distributions of the birthplaces of men and women contracting marriages are different. Therefore, migration has different effects on the genetic diversity of the Y-chromosomal and mitochondrial-DNA pools. No isonymic marriages have been found in the Altaian populations studied; however, an increase in the random component of inbreeding has been observed.  相似文献

The present cross-sectional study was done in order to illustrate the prevalence and types of consanguineous marriages among Afghanistan populations. Data on types of marriages were collected using a simple questionnaire. The total number of couples in the study was 7140 from the following provinces: Badakhshan, Baghlan, Balkh, Bamyan, Kabul, Kunduz, Samangan and Takhar. Consanguineous marriages were classified by the degree of relationship between couples: double first cousins, first cousins, first cousins once removed, second cousins and beyond second cousins. The coefficient of inbreeding (F) was calculated for each couple and the mean coefficient of inbreeding (α) estimated for each population. The proportion of consanguineous marriages in the country was 46.2%, ranging from 38.2% in Kabul province to 51.2% in Bamyan province. The equivalent mean inbreeding coefficient (α) was 0.0277, and ranged from 0.0221 to 0.0293 in these two regions. There were significant differences between provinces for frequencies of different types of marriages (p<0.001). First cousin marriages (27.8%) were the most common type of consanguineous marriages, followed by double first cousin (6.9%), second cousin (5.8%), beyond second cousin (3.9%) and first cousin once removed (1.8%). There were significant differences between ethnic groups for the types of marriages (χ2=177.6, df=25, p<0.001). Tajiks (Soni) and Turkmens (also Pashtuns) showed the lowest (α=0.0250) and highest (α=0.0297) mean inbreeding coefficients, respectively, among the ethnic groups in Afghanistan. The study shows that Afghanistan's populations, like other Islamic populations, have a high level of consanguinity.  相似文献

Procedure is described to estimate allele frequencies in indigenous populations of Siberia using phenotype data not only for "pure-blood" representatives of the ethnic groups examined, but also for the descendants of mixed marriages. Implementation of the method requires reconstruction of the data on relatives for the sample examined. Inclusion of the data on descendants of mixed marriages into the analysis increases the sample information content and decreases variance of the estimates obtained. The advantages of the method are illustrated using an example of Tundra Nentsy, for whom it was shown that variance of estimates at the analysis of the blood groups allele frequencies can be diminished approximately by a factor of 1.5.  相似文献

Analysis of records of the marriages that were contracted in the city of Poltava revealed an increase in outbreeding between 1960 and 1985 in the Poltava population. This was expressed in increased ethnic diversity, proportion of interethnic marriages, migration range, and the parent-offspring and average marital distances, whereas the proportion of the indigenous ethnic group (Ukrainians) decreased. By 1995, outbreeding decreased: the ethnic composition of the population became more homogeneous (98% Slavic), the proportion of Ukrainians and the frequency of monoethnic marriages increased, and the migration range decreased. During the period studied, the population became more panmictic with respect to ethnicity and birthplace, with the social and professional subdivisions of the population remaining unchanged.  相似文献

The Utsat people do not belong to one of the recognized ethnic groups in Hainan, China. Some historical literature and linguistic classification confirm a close cultural relationship between the Utsat and Cham people; however, the genetic relationship between these two populations is not known. In the present study, we typed paternal Y chromosome and maternal mitochondrial (mt) DNA markers in 102 Utsat people to gain a better understanding of the genetic history of this population. High frequencies of the Y chromosome haplogroup O1a*-M119 and mtDNA lineages D4, F2a, F1b, F1a1, B5a, M8a, M*, D5, and B4a exhibit a pattern similar to that seen in neighboring indigenous populations. Cluster analyses (principal component analyses and networks) of the Utsat, Cham, and other ethnic groups in East Asia indicate that the Utsat are much closer to the Hainan indigenous ethnic groups than to the Cham and other mainland southeast Asian populations. These findings suggest that the origins of the Utsat likely involved massive assimilation of indigenous ethnic groups. During the assimilation process, the language of Utsat has been structurally changed to a tonal language; however, their Islamic beliefs may have helped to keep their culture and self-identification.  相似文献

The genetic demographic parameters of rural populations of Kyrgyzstan have been studied. The rural population of Kyrgyzstan has the following demographic characteristics: (1) it is demographically young (the population mean age is 25-28 years); (2) the sex ratio in reproductive age groups is unfavorable; (3) the fertility is high (5.78-7.68 pregnancies and 4.27-5.20 surviving children per woman of postreproductive age; (4) interethnic marriages are rare (1.0-5.9%), whereas consanguineous marriages are frequent (1.4-12%); (5) Crow's indices are relatively low (I(tot) = 0.24-0.29, I(m) = 0.05-0.13, I(f) = 0.14-0.22); and (6) both male and female contributions of different regions of the republic make unequal contributions to the gametic structure of the population, with the gametic structure varying from generation to generation. This study is a part of long-term investigations devoted to the analysis of the gene pool of Dagestan ethnic groups. The phenotype (in %), gene, and haplotype frequencies in Kumyk ethnic group are reported. A total of 39 alleles and six haplotypes of 14 loci (AB0, Rhesus, P, Levis, Kell, HP, GC, C’3, TF, 6PGD, GLO1, ESD, ACP, and PGM1) of immunobiochemical genetic marker systems were examined. Rare haplotypes of the Rhesus system were identified, including CDE in the Karabudakhkent population with the frequency of 0.030, and Cde and cdE in the Dorgeli population with the frequencies of 0.034 and 0.38, respectively. Similarly to the other ethnic populations of Dagestan examined, Kukyk populations carried rare, albeit typically “Caucasoid” gene ACP1 c of the AcP1 locus. The frequency of this allele in the two populations was similar, constituting 0.031 for Karabudakhkent and 0.032 for Dorgeli. In Kumyks, allele frequencies of the AB0, Rhesus, P, Lewis, Kell, HP, GC, C′3, TF, 6PGD, GLO1, ESD, ACP, but not PGM1, systems were similar to the mean allele frequencies at these loci observed in the other ethnic groups from the Dagestan, Caucasus, and the whole European historical ethnographic province. At the same time, the allele frequency values obtained were different from those for the populations of Kazakhstan, Central Asia, Siberia, and the Ruswsian Far East. Thus, the results obtained for classical genetic markers indicate that Kumyks are genetically closer to the indigenous populations of Dagestan than to Turkic-speaking populations. Analysis of the fit of the observed phenotype frequencies to the Hardy-Weinberg expectations showed that compared to other indigenous populations of Dagestan examined, in Kumyks the genetic state of the population upon random allele association was close to equilibrium. Probably, this state was determined by practical absence of the consanguineous marriages upon preservation of intra-aul endogamy.  相似文献

A method for reconstructing allele frequencies characteristic of an original ethnically homogeneous population before the start of migration processes is described. Information on both the ethnic group studied and offspring of interethnic marriages is used to estimate the allele frequencies. This makes it possible to increase the informativeness of the sample, which, in the case of ethnic heterogeneity, depends not only on allele frequencies and the total sample size, but also on the ethnic structure of the sample. The problem of estimating allele frequency in an ethnically heterogeneous sample has been solved analytically for diallelic loci. It has been demonstrated that, if offspring of interethnic marriages with the same degree of outbreeding is added to a sample of the ethnic group studied, the sample informativeness does not change. To utilize the information contained in the phenotypes of the offspring of interethnic marriages, representatives of the population from which migration occurs should be included into the sample. The size of the sample ensuring the preassigned accuracy of estimation is minimized at a certain ratio between the numbers of the offspring of interethnic marriages and the "immigrants." To analyze polyallelic loci, a software package has been developed that allows estimating allele frequencies, determining the errors of these estimates, and planning the sample ensuring the preassigned accuracy of estimation. Abstract

A comparison of intra‐ and inter‐ethnic divorce rates in Hawaii showed that inter‐ethnic marriages resulted in a higher proportion of divorces than did intra‐ethnic marriages when the marriage data used had to do with all marriages occurring in Hawaii. However, a sizeable portion of marriages in Hawaii are of nonresidents who, if they divorce, probably divorce elsewhere. Nonresident marriages are chiefly intra‐ethnic marriages of Caucasians. When examining the proportions of divorces to resident marriages, within‐group marriages are more at risk than inter‐ethnic marriages. As in prior research, persons who marry members of other racial/ethnic groups tend to marry persons from groups with income levels similar to their own. As in previous reports, some cross‐ethnic combinations appeared more at risk for divorce than did others. Group income appeared to be a predictor of risk. When considering only resident marriages as related to divorces, those marriages in which the bride was from a higher income group than the groom were at a significantly greater risk for divorce than marriage in which the bride came from an income group lower than that of the groom.  相似文献
