Chagas' disease or American trypanosomiasis is a parasitic zoonosis which constitutes and important public health problem in most of the Latin American countries. According to the development of socio-political events in the world, it is possible at present to speak of rural-periurban Chagas' disease and urban Chagas' disease. Rural-periurban Chagas' disease. In its endemo-enzootic condition it is distributed in vast areas from Mexico in the north and Argentina and Chile in the south. It is calculated that the population at risk is about 90 million persons, not less than 16-18 million are Trypanosoma cruzi infected and approximately 38% of these present or have presented pathology caused by the parasite. Organs most frequently affected: heart, esophagus and colon. The corresponding biological vectors are hematophagus triatomid bugs, with greater than 100 species synantropic (st) or sylvatic (sv), existing between parallels 41 N. and 46 S., but only about 36, which have been found infected, have some relationship with man because their adaptation to human dwelling. The human parasitose is less extended due to the fact that the vectors of the region are predominantly sv. The known reservoirs are more than 180 species of terrestrial mammals: domestic, st and sv. Man is possibly the most important. Some available relevant epidemiological information is summarized as follows: Additionally, some autochthonous cases of T. cruzi human infection have been registered in the United States, Trinidad-Tobago, Guyana and Belize. Moreover, infected vectors and/or sv reservoirs have been observed in almost a dozen of Caribbean countries. Urban Chagas' disease. As a consequence of possible better salaries and many other motivations, in the last decades there have been significant and constant migrations from rural to urban areas in many Latin American countries. This situation has facilitated the dissemination of T. cruzi infection through infected reservoirs--mostly humans--and/or passively transported infected vectors. In most of the cases these rural-urban migrations occur in chagasic endemic areas within a same country or in neighbouring ones; in others, the migration can involve countries where Chagas' disease does not exist, transmission being via blood transfusion or placental. According to some estimates, with a mean rate of 1.5% chagasic infected blood donors the minimum risk of T. cruzi transmission is nearly 12.5-25.0% when the volumen of transfused blood is 500 ml.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 400 WORDS)  相似文献

Chile is a long and narrow country located in the south western coast of South America. Chagas' disease exists in the seven first (18 degrees 30'-34 degrees 36' South lat.) of the total of thirteen administrative regions of the country. In the 1982-1990 period a series of studies considering different epidemiological aspects of this parasitic zoonosis has been carried out with the following results: 5,601 rural of periurban dwellings were surveyed for the presence of Triatoma infestans (the most important and almost exclusive vector of Trypanosoma cruzi in Chile). 37.4% of the dwellings were infested according to the inhabitants and 29.4% were found infested according to the presence of tracks or insects captured. In 659 (17.2%) out of 3,822 T. infestans captured and examined T. cruzi was found in their abdominal contents. The most common sources of T. infestans feeding were mammals (89.0%), including man, and birds (9.5%). An indirect hemagglutination test (IHAT) for Chagas' disease, a very sensitive and specific reaction, was performed to 5,050 domestic mammals, resulting positive 7.9% of cats, 7.0% of dogs, 7.0% of goats, 4.9% of sheep and 4.1% of rabbits. 2,579 (16.9%) out of 15,418 persons were positive for the IAHT for Chagas' disease. The rates of infection were rather similar in males (17.5%) and females (16.2%) with an increase in infection rates in accordance with increase of age of individuals. The overall frequency of ECG abnormalities in positive IHAT persons was 18.7% against 8.8% in those with negative IHAT, whereas ECG abnormalities considered as suggestive of a chagasic etiology were 6.8% and 2.2% respectively. The esophageal motility in 311 persons with a positive IHAT and in 150 with a negative IHAT was found altered in 42.8% and 18.7% respectively. In the corresponding urban sectors of the 7 regions mentioned 2.7% of blood donors, 2.3% of delivering mothers, 2.6% of newborns and 0.6% of school children had positive IHAT. 646 chagasic women and 709 non-chagasic women in their reproductive span of life, and the products of the pregnancies that they had in a 6-year period were followed-up. No significant differences were found neither in the number nor in the evolution of pregnancies in both groups of mothers. Xenodiagnosis of children from chagasic mothers resulted positive in 6.3-8.9%, showing the transmission of T. cruzi by the placental route. A segment of DNA unique to the kinetoplast of Trypanosoma cruzi was isolated from spontaneously mummified human remains from the coastal area of northern Chile at sites dated from 2000 BC to about AD 1400. Following rehydration of the desiccated human tissue samples of heart, esophagus, or colon, the samples were extracted and primers employed to bind to a 330 bp kinetoplast minicircle DNA sequence present in T. cruzi. This segment was then amplified using the polymerase chain reaction (PCR), and the target segment was visualized by gel electrophoresis. This method enables the identification of Chagas' disease in an ancient body in the absence of recognizable anatomic pathological changes.  相似文献

The efficiency of an immunoenzymatic technique (ELISA) for the systematic research of Chagas' disease in blood donors was compared with one of 2 well-known methods, indirect haemagglutination (IHA) and indirect fluoro immuno assay (IFA). For the ELISA technique two different antigenic extracts from epimastigote culture forms of T. cruzi, were used for sensitizing the polystyrene plates: a crude extract (Ag R) and a delipidized one (Ag B). Firstly the authors tested these 3 techniques in 5 control groups: sera from Chagas' disease, negative control sera, sera from visceral leishmaniasis, african trypanosomiasis and finally monoclonal gammapathies, the high levels of blood proteins being a possible cause of false positives. Secondly the screening of Chagas' disease was performed in the same way in 976 blood donors from Recife, Brazil. In the case of the Ag-R extract used in the ELISA technique a high cross-reactivity was found with visceral leishmaniasis sera, along a risk of false positives with gammapathic ones. The sensitivity of this technique was found to be high (3,3 +/- 1 p. cent of positive blood donors) and a very good correlation was found with the reference techniques, IFA and IHA, the sensitivity of which is lower (2,3 +/- 1 and 1,7 +/- p. cent). The use of a delipidized antigenic extract (Ag B) for the ELISA technique is not suitable, in spite of an apparent higher specificity: indeed, the positives rate is high (11,5 +/- 0,2 p. cent), but the correlation is very weak or non existent in the case of IHA or IFA. In conclusion, the ELISA technique using a crude extract of T. cruzi appears to be a very convenient method for screening blood donors with Chagas' disease, the lack of specificity due to leishmaniasis or monoclonal blood proteins not posing any real problem to blood banking.  相似文献

Congenital Chagas disease acquired special importance in Chile after the certification of the control of Triatoma infestans and transmission by blood donors affected with Trypanosoma cruzi. In order to establish adequate protocols for intervention and control in infected mother-neonate pairs in endemic zones of Chagas disease, we present partial results (2005-2008) of a pilot project which is being carried out in the Province of Choapa, IV Region, Chile, whose objectives are: determine the current prevalence of the disease in pregnant women, estimate the incidence of vertical transmission of T. cruzi to newborns, determine the lineages of the parasite present in mothers who do and do not transmit the disease, determine the prevalence of Chagas disease in maternal grandmothers of neonates and study placental histopathology. Preliminary results indicated that in this study period, 3.7% of the women who gave birth in the Province have Chagas disease and 2.5% of their newborns were infected. The most frequent T. cruzi genotypes found in mothers studied during pregnancy were TCI and TCIId, either alone or in mixed infections. A high percentage (74.3%) of the grandmothers studied was infected with the parasite. In 29 placentas from mothers with Chagas disease we observed edema, necrosis, fibrinoid deposits and slight lymphoplasmocyte infiltration. In three placentas we found erythroblastosis and in one of them amastigote forms of T. cruzi; this was one of the cases of congenital infection. The evaluation of the diagnostic and control protocols generated will allow us to determine if it has been possible to modify the natural history of vertical transmission of T. cruzi in Chile.  相似文献

Trypanosoma cruzi is a protozoan infection widely spread in Latin America, from Mexico in the north to Argentina and Chile in the south. The second most important way of acquiring the infection is by blood transfusion. Even if most countries of Latin America have law/decree/norms, that make mandatory the screening of blood donors for infectious diseases, including T. cruzi (El Salvador and Nicaragua do not have laws on the subject), there is usually no enforcement or it is very lax. Analysis of published serologic surveys of T. cruzi antibodies in blood donors done in 1993, indicating the number of donors and screening coverage for T. cruzi in ten countries of Central and South America indicated that the probability of receiving a potentially infected transfusion unit in each country varied from 1,096 per 10,000 transfusions in Bolivia, the highest, to 13.02 or 13.86 per 10,000 transfusions in Honduras and Venezuela respectively, where screening coverage was 100%. On the other hand the probability of transmitting a T. cruzi infected unit was 219/10,000 in Bolivia, 24/10,000 in Colombia, 17/10,000 in El Salvador, and around 2-12/10,000 for the seven other countries. Infectivity risks defined as the likelihood of being infected when receiving an infected transfusion unit were assumed to be 20% for T. cruzi. Based on this, estimates of the absolute number of infections induced by transfusion indicated that they were 832, 236, and 875 in Bolivia, Chile and Colombia respectively. In all the other countries varied from seven in Honduras to 85 in El Salvador. Since 1993, the situation has improved. At that time only Honduras and Venezuela screened 100% of donors, while seven countries, Argentina, Colombia, El Salvador, Honduras, Paraguay, Uruguay and Venezuela, did the same in 1996. In Central America, without information from Guatemala, the screening of donors for T. cruzi prevented the transfusion of 1,481 infected units and the potential infection of 300 individuals in 1996. In the same year, in seven countries of South America, the screening prevented the transfusion of 36,017 infected units and 7, 201 potential cases of transfusional infection.  相似文献

To each of 11,161 randomly taken people from urban and peri-urban localities of the first seven regions of Chile (geographic area of distribution of Chagas' disease in the country), with negative serology for Chagas' disease, an indirect hemagglutination test (IHAT) for toxoplasmosis and an EKG were practiced. The IHAT for toxoplasmosis resulted positive in 3,519 individuals (31.5%). The EKG showed alterations in 10.9% of the IHAT positive individuals and in 7.9% of the IHAT negative ones. This difference between the proportion of altered EKG in IHAT positive people and altered EKG in those with negative IHAT is statistically significative with p < 0.001. These results suggest the convenience of considering toxoplasmosis as a cause of chronic myocardiopathy in epidemiological studies on Chagas' disease, since not discard the presence of Toxoplasma gondii infection should overvaluete the magnitude of the impact of Trypanosoma cruzi in the genesis of such a myocardiopathy.  相似文献

Ninety-one Chilean, 15 Bolivian, and 9 Argentinian Trypanosoma cruzi stocks, isolated from various hosts and vectors, were characterized by schizodeme analysis with EcoRI and MspI endonucleases. The three major similar pattern groups that emerged from this sample correlated with results of isoenzyme analysis. This result confirms previous work and supports the hypothesis of the clonal structure of natural populations of T. cruzi, fully defined at the level of isoenzyme analysis, quantitative kinetoplast DNA restriction fragment length polymorphism, and kinetoplast DNA hybridization analysis. In Chile, sylvatic and domestic cycles of T. cruzi transmission appear to be mainly independent: genetically different families of natural clones are specific to these cycles. Nevertheless, the possibility of overlap remains unclear. Results described here indicate that natural clones inhabiting Chilean regions appear genetically related to the natural clones identified in neighboring countries. In Chile the more frequently sampled parasite types are natural clone 39 and a genetically closely related clone NP13. In this work an evaluation of T. cruzi natural clone mixtures in T. cruzi stocks from Chile was performed for the first time by schizodeme analysis before and after serial transfer in mouse maintenance. The results indicate that six of nine stocks are composed of two or more natural clones. This observation raises the relevant question of whether specific T. cruzi natural clones generate different clinical features of Chagas' disease.  相似文献

Chronic Chagas' disease cardiomyopathy (CCC) is caused by the protozoan Trypanosoma cruzi, and it affects 30% of the 16-18 million people infected in Latin America. A good rodent model that develops a dilated cardiomyopathy closely resembling human CCC after T. cruzi infection is still needed. We compared the cardiomyopathy developed by T. cruzi-infected Syrian hamsters with human Chagas' disease cardiomyopathy using quantitative methods. Female hamsters were infected with 3.5 x 10(4) (G1, n = 10) or 10(5) (G2, n = 10) T. cruzi Y strain blood trypomastigotes. Control animals (C, n = 10) were injected with saline solution. Cardiac function was assessed by echocardiography at 4, 8 and 12 months post-infection. Heart sections were submitted to histopathological/morphometric analysis 12 months post-infection. At this time, ventricular dysfunction and diffuse or multi-focal myocarditis were observed in 91% and 100% of G1 and G2 infected groups, respectively. Median interstitial collagen volumes in groups C, G1 and G2 were 1.2%, 1.9% and 3.9%, respectively, and were significantly higher in group G2 than in group C. Among infected animals, myocarditis showed a positive correlation with interstitial fibrosis. Deaths in the chronic phase (8-12 months post-infection) were more frequent among G2 than G1, and were associated with macroscopic ventricular dilation, severe myocarditis and increased fibrosis values, along with an earlier onset of ventricular dysfunction. The T. cruzi chronically infected Syrian hamster develops a cardiomyopathy which resembles human Chagas' disease cardiomyopathy, and might be an adequate tool to investigate pathogenic mechanisms of this disease and to search for novel therapeutic strategies.  相似文献

Blood transfusion is the second most common transmission route of Chagas disease in many Latin American countries. In Mexico, the prevalence of Chagas disease and impact of transfusion of Trypanosoma cruzi-contaminated blood is not clear. We determined the seropositivity to T. cruzi in a representative random sample, of 2,140 blood donors (1,423 men and 647 women, aged 19-65 years), from a non-endemic state of almost 5 millions of inhabitants by the indirect hemagglutination (IHA) and enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) tests using one autochthonous antigen from T. cruzi parasites, which were genetically characterized like TBAR/ME/1997/RyC-V1 (T. cruzi I) isolated from a Triatoma barberi specimen collected in the same locality. The seropositivity was up to 8.5% and 9% with IHA and ELISA tests, respectively, and up to 7.7% using both tests in common. We found high seroprevalence in a non-endemic area of Mexico, comparable to endemic countries where the disease occurs, e.g. Brazil (0.7%), Bolivia (13.7%) and Argentina (3.5%). The highest values observed in samples from urban areas, associated to continuous rural emigration and the absence of control in blood donors, suggest unsuspected high risk of transmission of T. cruzi, higher than those reported for infections by blood e.g. hepatitis (0.1%) and AIDS (0.1%) in the same region.  相似文献

A glycoprotein of 25,000 daltons (G25) purified from T. cruzi extracts is recognized by serum antibodies of Chagas' disease patients. These human antibodies were isolated by affinity chromatography and were used to demonstrate that G25 antigenic determinants are i) represented at the parasite surface, and ii) are expressed in all developmental stages of the parasite's life cycle, as well as in several T. cruzi strains. This antigen-antibody system may be useful for the diagnosis of Chagas' disease because antibodies to radiolabeled G25 are found in the serum of 96.5% of 173 chagasic patients from different endemic areas, but are not found in the serum from other individuals. Taken collectively, the data suggest that antibodies to G25 define highly conserved determinants of the species T. cruzi. Moreover, its remarkable immunogenicity to infected humans offers an opportunity to investigate the role of specific immunologic responses in the pathogenicity of Chagas' disease.  相似文献

The partial suppression of the cell-mediated immune response by Trypanosoma cruzi antigens in patients with Chagas' disease is demonstrated in a costimulation assay with T. cruzi antigens and Mycobacterium tuberculosis purified protein derivative (PPD) or Tetanus toxoid (TT). Mononuclear cells from 13 patients with chagasic infection without evidence of heart disease, 10 patients with chagasic cardiomyopathy and 7 healthy blood bank donors were stimulated with antigen A (autoclaved epimastigotes), PPD, TT, PPD + A, PPD + TT and TT + A. The average percentage of suppression induced by costimulation of mononuclear cells with PPD and antigen A was 47.1% in patients with chagasic infection without heart disease (INF), 38.8% in patients with chagasic cardiomyopathy (CDM) and 23.3% in healthy controls. Similar values were observed when living trypomastigotes were used. A costimulatory study with PPD and TT, PPD and A and TT and A was carried out in 8 patients with chagasic infection, in order to evaluate the possibility that this difference could be due to a nonspecific inhibitory effect. The mean suppression induced by TT + PPD was -8.9, with TT + A was 52.7 and with PPD + A was 50.1. The data reported show that T. cruzi antigens induce a specific suppression of the proliferative response of mononuclear cells, that might be relevant to the persistence of the parasite in the host.  相似文献

Abstract The detection of Trypanosoma cruzi kinetoplast DNA by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification is a potentially powerful tool for the parasitological diagnosis of Chagas' disease. We have applied this technique in a field situation in Bolivia, where 45 children from a primary school were subjected to serological testing, buffy coat analysis and PCR diagnosis. 26 of the 28 serology-positive individuals were also positive by PCR. In addition, two serology-negative children gave a positive result by PCR, including one who was positive in the buffy coat test. These results suggest that PCR detection of T. cruzi DNA in blood can be a very useful complement to serology in Chagas' disease diagnosis in Bolivia.  相似文献

Polyclonal antibodies obtained against antigenic proteins encoded by six recombinant DNA clones of Trypanosoma cruzi were used for the ultrastructural localization of the respective antigens in thin sections of parasites (epimastigote, amastigote and trypomastigote forms of T. cruzi) embedded at low temperature in Lowicryl K4M resin. Antigens of high molecular weight containing tandemly repeated amino acid sequence motifs and recognized by sera from patients with Chagas' disease, were located only in the flagellum, where it contacts the parasite cell body. Other antigens were located on the surface of the parasite while still others were found within the flagellar pocket, as is the case with an antigen released during the acute phase of Chagas' disease. Thus, we conclude that some of the T. cruzi proteins which are antigenic in human infections are located in defined regions of the parasite. Some of the antigens were not expressed to the same extent in the three different developmental stages of the parasite.  相似文献

Proteins rich in sulfhydryl groups, such as metallothionein, are present in several strains of the parasite Trypanosoma cruzi, the etiological agent of Chagas' disease. Metallothionein-like protein concentrations ranged from 5.1 to 13.2 pmol/mg protein depending on the parasite strain and growth phase. Nifurtimox and benznidazole, used in the treatment of Chagas' disease, decreased metallothionein activity by approximately 70%. T. cruzi metallothionein was induced by ZnCl2. Metallothionein from T. cruzi was partially purified and its monobromobimane derivative showed a molecular weight of approximately 10,000 Da by SDS-PAGE analysis. The concentration of trypanothione, the major glutathione conjugate in T. cruzi, ranged from 3.8 to 10.8 nmol/mg protein, depending on the culture phase. The addition of buthionine sulfoximine to the protozoal culture considerably reduced the concentration of trypanothione and had no effect upon the metallothionein concentration. The possible contribution of metallothionein-like proteins to drug resistance in T. cruzi is discussed.  相似文献

The effect of malaria on the chronic phase of Chagas' disease was investigated in mice. The animals were given Plasmodium bergheri-infected red blood cells 2 to 12 months after their initial inoculation with trypomastigotes of 3 different strains of Trypanosoma cruzi (Y. CL and Gilmar). in all the experiments carried out with one of the strains (CL), a somewhat variable but always considerable percentage of mice (average 39%) relapsed in to the acute phase of Chagas' disease. This relapse was characterized by a significant increase in the number of circulating trypomastigotes. Recrudescence was observed also with a 2nd strain of T. cruzi (Gilmar), which is similar in many aspects to the CL strain, e.g. the morphology of blood stages, curved of parasitemia and susceptibility to antibodies in vitro. In mice whose chronic phase was induced by trypomastigotes of the Y strain, malaria infections did not induce a typical acute phas with high parasitemia by T. cruzi. Bloodstream forms of Y parasites differ from those of CL and Gilmar strains morphologically as well as immunologically, i.e. only the Y strain is easily agglutinated and partly inactivated by specific immune serum. In light of this and other known characteristics of the strains used in the present work, the author speculates on mechanisms which allow malaria infections selectively to suppress acquired host resistance to certain strains of T. cruzi.  相似文献

Immunologic screening of cDNA expression libraries has been widely used for the identification of DNA sequences encoding the immunologically relevant proteins of many pathogenic microorganisms. For reasons that are not entirely clear, sequences encoding 70-kDa heat shock and related proteins (hsp70), which are among the most highly conserved proteins known, have routinely been identified by this approach. Consequently, hsp70 proteins have been proposed to be involved in the autoimmune processes thought responsible for the pathogenesis of the diseases caused by some of these organisms, e.g., chronic Trypanosoma cruzi infection (Chagas' disease). Therefore, we investigated whether hsp70 might be a specific target of the human humoral immune response to T. cruzi infection, and, if so, whether humoral autoimmunity to hsp70 might play a role in pathogenesis. We found that hsp70 is indeed a major polypeptide Ag in Chagas' disease, but that the antibodies to T. cruzi hsp70 do not react with human hsp70--even though the proteins display 73% amino acid sequence identify. These results indicate that self-tolerance to hsp70 is maintained during chronic T. cruzi infection and strongly argue against a role for humoral autoimmunity to hsp70 in the pathogenesis of Chagas' disease.  相似文献

Proteins containing tandemly repetitive sequences are present in several immunodominant protein antigens in pathogenic protozoan parasites. The tandemly repetitive Trypanosoma cruzi B13 protein is recognized by IgG antibodies from 98% of Chagas' disease patients. Little is known about the molecular mechanisms that lead to the immunodominance of the repeated sequences, and there is limited information on T cell epitopes in such repetitive antigens. We finely characterized the T cell recognition of the tandemly repetitive, degenerate B13 protein by T cell lines, clones and PBMC from Chagas' disease cardiomyopathy (CCC), asymptomatic T. cruzi infected (ASY) and non-infected individuals (N). PBMC proliferative responses to recombinant B13 protein were restricted to individuals bearing HLA-DQA1*0501(DQ7), -DR1, and -DR2; B13 peptides bound to the same HLA molecules in binding assays. The HLA-DQ7-restricted minimal T cell epitope [FGQAAAG(D/E)KP] was identified with an overlapping combinatorial peptide library including all B13 sequence variants in T. cruzi Y strain B13 protein; the underlined small residues GQA were the major HLA contact residues. Among natural B13 15-mer variant peptides, molecular modeling showed that several variant positions were solvent (TCR)-exposed, and substitutions at exposed positions abolished recognition. While natural B13 variant peptide S15.9 seems to be the immunodominant epitope for Chagas' disease patients, S15.4 was preferentially recognized by CCC rather than ASY patients, which may be pathogenically relevant. This is the first thorough characterization of T cell epitopes of a tandemly repetitive protozoan antigen and may suggest a role for T cell help in the immunodominance of protozoan repetitive antigens.  相似文献

A study for evaluation of the yielding of xenodiagnosis (XD) in 1,181 persons with a previous positive indirect hemagglutination test (IHAT) for Trypanosoma cruzi infection was carried out. The infection of these people was detected during epidemiological surveys performed in rural-periurban and urban sections of the endemo-enzootic area of Chagas' disease in Chile, which involves the first seven, out of the thirteen political-administrative regions of the country. The sex distribution was 75.0% females and 25.0% males, varying the ages between 2 and 80 years. According to individual and geographical possibilities each person was submitted to 1-8 XD, which consisted in cylindrical wooden boxes containing seven third instar nymphs, laboratory reared, of Triatoma infestans. The boxes, covered with a piece of tulle fixed with a rubber band were applied on the skin of the posterior side of the arm of the subject to be examined, held with a linen bracelet during 25-30 min. After the insects were fed the boxes were maintained in the laboratory at 27 degrees C and 85% relative environmental humidity. Posteriorly, all the nymphs of each box were examined at 30, 60 and 90 days after the application. A drop of abdominal content of each of them, homogenized with a drop of saline, was examined at the microscope looking for T. cruzi. XD resulted positive in 503 (42.6%) people. The positiveness of XD showed a trend of increasing according to the number of boxes used, from 11.4% with one to 51.6% with six. Little is known about the risks associated with Trypanosoma cruzi infection in non-pregnant and pregnant women. From a limited number of studies it appears that in rural areas, parasite rates and rates of serological positivity are similar in both sexes. Abnormal ECG tracings are consistently more frequent in men suggesting that immunity to T. cruzi may be different in females. Complications arising from Chagas' disease in pregnancy are only infrequently reported. Evidence for increased risk of abortion or prematurity is inconclusive except in cases of congenital infection. Most cases of congenital Chagas' disease have been reported from non-endemic areas and there is a suggestion that parasitemic episodes during pregnancy may influence pregnancy outcome. Preliminary evidence indicates that chronic infection can result in in-utero sensitization via passively acquired maternal antibodies. The review concludes that maternal T. cruzi infection carries risks for the child and these warrant systematic research because of their public health significance.  相似文献
