Aspergillus flavus colonizes agricultural commodities worldwide and contaminates them with carcinogenic aflatoxins. The high genetic diversity of A. flavus populations is largely due to sexual reproduction characterized by the formation of ascospore-bearing ascocarps embedded within sclerotia. A. flavus is heterothallic and laboratory crosses between strains of the opposite mating type produce progeny showing genetic recombination. Sclerotia formed in crops are dispersed onto the soil surface at harvest and are predominantly produced by single strains of one mating type. Less commonly, sclerotia may be fertilized during co-infection of crops with sexually compatible strains. In this study, laboratory and field experiments were performed to examine sexual reproduction in single-strain and fertilized sclerotia following exposure of sclerotia to natural fungal populations in soil. Female and male roles and mitochondrial inheritance in A. flavus were also examined through reciprocal crosses between sclerotia and conidia. Single-strain sclerotia produced ascospores on soil and progeny showed biparental inheritance that included novel alleles originating from fertilization by native soil strains. Sclerotia fertilized in the laboratory and applied to soil before ascocarp formation also produced ascospores with evidence of recombination in progeny, but only known parental alleles were detected. In reciprocal crosses, sclerotia and conidia from both strains functioned as female and male, respectively, indicating A. flavus is hermaphroditic, although the degree of fertility depended upon the parental sources of sclerotia and conidia. All progeny showed maternal inheritance of mitochondria from the sclerotia. Compared to A. flavus populations in crops, soil populations would provide a higher likelihood of exposure of sclerotia to sexually compatible strains and a more diverse source of genetic material for outcrossing.  相似文献

Aspergillus flavus is a common saprophytic and pathogenic fungus, and its secondary metabolic pathways are one of the most highly characterized owing to its aflatoxin (AF) metabolite affecting global economic crops and human health. Different natural environments can cause significant variations in AF synthesis. Succinylation was recently identified as one of the most critical regulatory post-translational modifications affecting metabolic pathways. It is primarily reported in human cells and bacteria with few studies on fungi. Proteomic quantification of lysine succinylation (Ksuc) exploring its potential involvement in secondary metabolism regulation (including AF production) has not been performed under natural conditions in A. flavus. In this study, a quantification method was performed based on tandem mass tag labeling and antibody-based affinity enrichment of succinylated peptides via high accuracy nano-liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry to explore the succinylation mechanism affecting the pathogenicity of naturally isolated A. flavus strains with varying toxin production. Altogether, 1240 Ksuc sites in 768 proteins were identified with 1103 sites in 685 proteins quantified. Comparing succinylated protein levels between high and low AF-producing A. flavus strains, bioinformatics analysis indicated that most succinylated proteins located in the AF biosynthetic pathway were downregulated, which directly affected AF synthesis. Versicolorin B synthase is a key catalytic enzyme for heterochrome B synthesis during AF synthesis. Site-directed mutagenesis and biochemical studies revealed that versicolorin B synthase succinylation is an important regulatory mechanism affecting sclerotia development and AF biosynthesis in A. flavus. In summary, our quantitative study of the lysine succinylome in high/low AF-producing strains revealed the role of Ksuc in regulating AF biosynthesis. We revealed novel insights into the metabolism of AF biosynthesis using naturally isolated A. flavus strains and identified a rich source of metabolism-related enzymes regulated by succinylation.  相似文献

Invasion of crops with Aspergillus flavus may result in contamination of food and feed with carcinogenic mycotoxins such as aflatoxins (AF) and cyclopiazonic acid (CPA). In the present study, distribution and toxigenicity of Aspergillus flavus and A. parasiticus in soils of five peanut fields located in Guilan province, Northern Iran was investigated. From a total of 30 soil samples, 53 strains were isolated which all of them were finally identified as A. flavus by a combination of colony morphology, microscopic criteria and mycotoxin profiles. Chromatographic analysis of fungal cultures on yeast extract sucrose broth by tip culture method showed that 45 of the 53 A. flavus isolates (84.9 %) were able to produce either CPA or AFB1, while eight of the isolates (15.1 %) were non-toxigenic. The amounts of CPA and AFB1 produced by the isolates were reported in the range of 18.2–403.8 μg/g and 53.3–7446.3 μg/g fungal dry weights, respectively. Chemotype classification of A. flavus isolates based on the ability for producing mycotoxins and sclerotia showed that 43.4 % were producers of CPA, AFB1 and sclerotia (group I), 13.2 % of CPA and AFB1 (group II), 9.4 % of AFB1 and sclerotia (group III), 13.2 % of AFB1 (group IV), 5.7 % of CPA and sclerotia (group V) and 15.1 % were non-toxigenic with no sclerotia (group VI). No strain was found as producer of only CPA or sclerotia. These results indicate different populations of mycotoxigenic A. flavus strains enable to produce hazardous amounts of AFB1 and CPA are present in peanuts field soils which can be quite important regard to their potential to contaminate peanuts as a main crop consumed in human and animal nutrition.  相似文献

Pectinase and sclerotium production by strains ofAspergillus flavus were determined with a pectinase culture plate assay and a Cz 3% NaNO3 medium plate assay. In theA. flavus population, 51% of isolates produced sclerotia, the toxigenic strains showing a tendency to have smaller sclerotia. Strains producing both abundant small sclerotia and a large quantity of aflatoxin were not found. There was no linear correlation between the amount of aflatoxin produced and the number of sclerotia. Levels of pectinase produced by the toxigenic strains were higher than that of the non-toxigenic strains, and this character was more obvious in the sclerotium-producing strains than in the non-sclerotium-prodcing strains. In theA. flavus population from Zhejiang in which the toxigenic strain rate was low, toxigenic strains may require higher levels of pectinase to compete with the non-toxigenic strains when infecting foodstuffs.  相似文献

Aspergillus spp. are frequently occurring seed-colonizing fungi that complete their disease cycles through the development of asexual spores, which function as inocula, and through the formation of cleistothecia and sclerotia. We found that development of all three of these structures in Aspergillus nidulans, Aspergillus flavus, and Aspergillus parasiticus is affected by linoleic acid and light. The specific morphological effects of linoleic acid include induction of precocious and increased asexual spore development in A. flavus and A. parasiticus strains and altered sclerotium production in some A. flavus strains in which sclerotium production decreases in the light but increases in the dark. In A. nidulans, both asexual spore production and sexual spore production were altered by linoleic acid. Spore development was induced in all three species by hydroperoxylinoleic acids, which are linoleic acid derivatives that are produced during fungal colonization of seeds. The sporogenic effects of these linoleic compounds on A. nidulans are similar to the sporogenic effects of A. nidulans psi factor, an endogenous mixture of hydroxylinoleic acid moieties. Light treatments also significantly increased asexual spore production in all three species. The sporogenic effects of light, linoleic acid, and linoleic acid derivatives on A. nidulans required an intact veA gene. The sporogenic effects of light and linoleic acid on Aspergillus spp., as well as members of other fungal genera, suggest that these factors may be significant environmental signals for fungal development.  相似文献

An association between sperm DNA integrity and fertility was recently shown for frozen–thawed Norwegian Red (NRF) bull semen diluted in skimmed milk egg yolk (SMEY). In general the fertility of NRF cattle is high, however, in comparison with NRF semen in SMEY, NRF semen diluted in Tris EY based extenders has shown reduced fertility. The aim of the present study was to do a split-sample comparison of sperm DNA integrity of NRF bull semen (n = 20) in SMEY and Triladyl® (Tris EY based) during routine cryopreservation procedure and during in vitro incubation of frozen–thawed semen in modified synthetic oviduct fluid (mSOF). In contrast to the high fertility of NRF cattle, Holstein cattle are experiencing a marked decline in fertility. Therefore, the present study also aimed to compare sperm DNA integrity of NRF (n = 20) and Holstein (n = 20) semen diluted in Triladyl® during in vitro incubation. The sperm DNA integrity was measured by susceptibility to in situ acid induced denaturation by the Sperm chromatin structure assay (SCSA). Compared to initial values of frozen neat semen, an increase in DNA damage was observed after dilution and cooling (5 °C) and after freezing–thawing of NRF semen in SMEY, but only after freezing–thawing for NRF semen diluted in Triladyl®. Sperm DNA damage of NRF semen increased during in vitro incubation in mSOF; the increase in percentage of spermatozoa with DNA damage was more prominent in SMEY than in Triladyl®, while the degree of damage was higher in Triladyl®, throughout the incubation period. However, while the correlation between DNA damage and sperm survival was negative in SMEY throughout the incubation period, a positive correlation was observed in Triladyl® after 9 h of incubation, indicating a higher presence of DNA damage in the live sperm population. In comparison with Holstein spermatozoa, the sperm DNA integrity of NRF semen reflected a better ability to withstand alterations induced during in vitro incubation in mSOF. In conclusion, sperm DNA integrity of NRF bull semen was altered during the cryopreservation procedure and in vitro incubation in mSOF. Dilution in Triladyl® maintained bull sperm DNA integrity better than dilution in SMEY. Furthermore, alterations in Holstein sperm DNA integrity was more pronounced during in vitro incubation in mSOF compared to NRF bull spermatozoa.  相似文献

Soil isolates of Aspergillus flavus from a transect extending from eastern New Mexico through Georgia to eastern Virginia were examined for production of aflatoxin B1 and cyclopiazonic acid in a liquid medium. Peanut fields from major peanut-growing regions (western Texas; central Texas; Georgia and Alabama; and Virginia and North Carolina) were sampled, and fields with other crops were sampled in regions where peanuts are not commonly grown. The A. flavus isolates were identified as members of either the L strain (n = 774), which produces sclerotia that are >400 μm in diameter, or the S strain (n = 309), which produces numerous small sclerotia that are <400 μm in diameter. The S-strain isolates generally produced high levels of aflatoxin B1, whereas the L-strain isolates were more variable in aflatoxin production; variation in cyclopiazonic acid production also was greater in the L strain than in the S strain. There was a positive correlation between aflatoxin B1 production and cyclopiazonic acid production in both strains, although 12% of the L-strain isolates produced only cyclopiazonic acid. Significant differences in production of aflatoxin B1 and cyclopiazonic acid by the L-strain isolates were detected among regions. In the western half of Texas and the peanut-growing region of Georgia and Alabama, 62 to 94% of the isolates produced >10 μg of aflatoxin B1 per ml. The percentages of isolates producing >10 μg of aflatoxin B1 per ml ranged from 0 to 52% in the remaining regions of the transect; other isolates were often nonaflatoxigenic. A total of 53 of the 126 L-strain isolates that did not produce aflatoxin B1 or cyclopiazonic acid were placed in 17 vegetative compatibility groups. Several of these groups contained isolates from widely separated regions of the transect.  相似文献

At present 14 species of Potentilla L. have been cytologically worked out from different geographical areas of Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh in the Western Himalayas. New chromosome numbers in nine species—Potentilla argyrophylla (n = 14), P. atrosanguinea (n = 7, 14), P. desertorum (n = 7), P. gerardiana (n = 14), P. indica (n = 14), P. micropetala (n = 14), P. nepalensis (n = 14), P. sibbaldia (n = 14) and P. thomsonii (n = 7)—have been reported on a worldwide basis for the first time. Additional chromosomal races of polyploid cytotypes for P. argyrophylla (n = 28) and P. desertorum (n = 14) along with a diploid cytotype for P. micropetala (n = 7) plus diploid cytotypes for the five species as P. fulgens (n = 7), P. gelida (n = 7), P. kleiniana (n = 7), P. sibbaldia (n = 7) and P. sundaica (n = 7) as well as a tetraploid cytotype for P. fruticosa (n = 14) all have been cytologically worked out from India for the first time. The course of meiosis varies from normal to abnormal in different populations of the majority of the species, such as P. argyrophylla, P. atrosanguinea, P. desertorum, P. fruticosa, P. fulgens, P. gelida, P. indica, P. nepalensis, P. sibbaldia and P. sundaica, except for normal meiosis observed in P. gerardiana, P. kleiniana, P. micropetala and P. thomsonii. The anomalous taxa are marked with meiotic abnormalities in the form of cytomixis, chromosomal stickiness, unoriented bivalents, formation of laggards and bridges resulting in abnormal microsporogenesis, and production of heterogenous-sized fertile pollen grains along with reduced pollen fertility. All the taxa with normal meiotic courses show nearly one hundred percent pollen fertility.  相似文献

Restricted sociosexuality has been linked to sexual disgust, suggesting that decreasing sexual behavior may be a pathogen avoidance technique. Using the behavioral immune system framework, which posits that humans experience disgust after exposure to pathogen cues, we replicate and expand on previous studies by analyzing the influence of three domains of disgust (sexual, moral, pathogen) on psychological (desire and attitude) and behavioral domains of sociosexuality (SOI) in four diverse samples: American university students (n = 155), Salvadoran community members (n = 98), a global online sample (n = 359), and a four-country online sample (US, India, Italy, and Brazil; n = 822) collected during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. In contrast with previous studies, we account for shared variance in sexual, pathogen, and moral disgust by entering all three in a multiple regression to predict composite SOI. In both large samples, sexual disgust and pathogen disgust had opposing effects on composite SOI; that is, higher sexual disgust and lower pathogen disgust were associated with more restricted composite SOI. Additionally, we constructed a multi-group structural equation model (SEM) to determine the impact of each domain of disgust on each domain of SOI across all our samples simultaneously, while controlling for age and sex. Within this model we also assessed how the psychological domains of SOI – attitude and desire – mediate the relationship between disgust and sociosexual behavior. Pathogen disgust positively predicted SOI attitude and desire, but not behavior, consistently across all groups. SOI behavior was only predicted by pathogen disgust when mediated by SOI attitude, again across all groups, suggesting that behavior seems to be driven largely by the psychological facets of SOI. We discuss these findings in light of the behavioral immune system and the bet-hedging hypothesis, which make opposing predictions on the relationship between infection risk and sexual behavior.  相似文献

Summary Literature pertaining to sclerotial Aspergilli has been reviewed in brief. Observations on the effect of certain environmental conditions viz. pH, light, temperature of incubation, oxygen-deficient conditions and various relative humidity values on sclerotia production byAspergillus niger van Tieghem, (two strains),A. flavus Link (two strains),A. sclerotiorum Hüber (one strain) andA. paradoxus Fennell &Raper (one strain) and on cleistothecia production byA. nidulans (Eidam)Wint. (one strain) have been presented. Optimum pH for sclerotia or cleistothecia production was 7.5. In other respects sclerotia and cleistothecia behaved similarly. In general, condition showing maximum sclerotia or cleistothecia production was the one that showed maximum vegetative growth. Certain strains of the same species reponded differently to the same condition. Light completely inhibited sclerotia formation in one strain ofA. flavus. InA. paradoxus, in general, conditions favouring sclerotia production were those that inhibited (or retarded) the formation of conidial heads and the yellow pigment in the medium. Oxygen-deficient conditions inhibited or retarded sclerotia or cleistothecia formation. Production of sclerotia and cleistothecia increased with an increase in relative humidity values. No definite correlation could be observed between extent of sporulation and sclerotia or cleistothecia production except in case of relative humidity. Parallelism in the behaviour of sclerotia and cleistothecia production inAspergillus lends further support in favour of the hypothesis that in this genus sclerotia are sterile stromata.  相似文献

Male androphilia (i.e., sexual attraction and arousal to adult males) is considered an evolutionary puzzle because it reduces direct reproduction, but is influenced by genetic factors, reliably occurs across cultures, and has persisted over evolutionary time. The kin selection hypothesis states that genes for male androphilia can be maintained in a population if the costs of not reproducing directly are offset by enhancing the reproduction of kin. We tested this hypothesis among the Istmo Zapotec of Oaxaca, Mexico, where transgender and cisgender androphilic males are known as muxe gunaa and muxe nguiiu, respectively. We compared altruistic tendencies towards kin and non-kin children between muxe nguiiu (n = 106), muxe gunaa (n = 106), gynephilic men (i.e., men sexually attracted and aroused to adult females; n = 172), and androphilic women (n = 130). We also assessed whether the sisters of muxes (n = 96) reported receiving more childcare support from their muxe sibling compared to women with only gynephilic brothers (n = 65). The results showed that cisgender and transgender muxes reported more kin-directed altruistic tendencies than men. Muxe nguiiu also reported more kin-directed altruistic tendencies than women. When controlling for altruistic tendencies towards non-kin children, both muxe types exhibited more kin-directed altruistic tendencies than men and women. Women with muxe siblings reported receiving more childcare support from these relatives compared to women with only gynephilic brothers. These findings provide support for the kin selection hypothesis and highlight its potential role in elucidating the evolutionary paradox of male androphilia.  相似文献

The effects of the natural phytochemicals trans-cinnamic acid (CA) and ferulic acid (FA) at concentrations of 1–20 mM (CA) and 1–25 mM (FA) on sclerotial production by Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus parasiticus were evaluated. Studies on sclerotium number and size were carried out in different growth media and water potentials (MPa). High concentrations of CA (20 mM, ?0.75 MPa; 10 mM, ?3.5 MPa) and FA (10, 20, 25 mM, ?0.75 and ?3.5 MPa) significantly reduced sclerotial production of Aspergillus strains. Overall, CA at concentrations of 10 and 20 mM on Czapek Dox medium (CD), maize meal extract agar (MMEA) and maize meal extract agar with sucrose and NaNO3 (MMEA S/N) inhibited sclerotium most in the four species assayed. The data show that the sclerotia characteristics of A. flavus and A. parasiticus were influenced by natural phytochemicals and modifications of growth media and water potential. CA and FA could be used at high concentrations to prevent the survival of Aspergillus species in grain.  相似文献

Several species in Aspergillus section Nigri have been reported to produce sclerotia on well-known growth media, such as Czapek yeast autolysate (CYA) agar, with sclerotia considered to be an important prerequisite for sexual development. However Aspergillus niger sensu stricto has not been reported to produce sclerotia, and is thought to be a purely asexual organism. Here we report, for the first time, the production of sclerotia by certain strains of Aspergillus niger when grown on CYA agar with raisins, or on other fruits or on rice. Up to 11 apolar indoloterpenes of the aflavinine type were detected by liquid chromatography and diode array and mass spectrometric detection where sclerotia were formed, including 10,23-dihydro-24,25-dehydroaflavinine. Sclerotium induction can thus be a way of inducing the production of new secondary metabolites from previously silent gene clusters. Cultivation of other species of the black aspergilli showed that raisins induced sclerotium formation by A. brasiliensis, A. floridensis A. ibericus, A. luchuensis, A. neoniger, A. trinidadensis and A. saccharolyticus for the first time.  相似文献

Few studies have examined the role of early vs. later environment in the development of life history (LH) strategies, whether age at sexual debut mediates LH development, or whether LH indicators contribute to environmental stress in adulthood. In the current study, we addressed these gaps cross-culturally using data from Jenu Kurubas who live in the rural outskirts of Mysore (n = 133), India, and mixed-caste peri-urban residents in Mysore city (n = 222). Research took place from October 2016–July 2017. First, participants engaged in semi-structured interviews to formulate quantitative measures of current environmental stress (n = 60). Next, participants (n = 355) completed structured questionnaires that measured demographics; early and current environmental stress; and LH indicators including age at sexual debut, facets of impulsivity, education, and number of children. Structural equation modeling was used to test for the developmental cascade reported in Western studies of psychosocial acceleration (e.g., indirect effect of early environmental stress on number of children through age at sexual debut). Consistent with Western findings, environmental stress appeared to hasten sexual debut, decrease self-regulation and educational attainment, and increase current environmental stress in the peri-urban sample. Early environmental stress forecasted younger age at sexual debut in both samples; however, no other effects of early environmental stress nor any associations with current environmental stress were consistent between samples. Although age at sexual debut appeared to translate early environmental stress into greater numbers of children and current environmental stress in the peri-urban and rural samples, respectively, it was associated with different outcomes between the samples and forecasted adult environment only in the rural sample. Taken together, our findings indicate more research is needed to determine whether the developmental cascade suggested by most applications of LH theory to humans generalizes across cultures and rural and peri-urban environments.  相似文献

Aspergillus spp. cause disease in a broad range of organisms, but it is unknown if strains are specialized for particular hosts. We evaluated isolates of Aspergillus flavus, Aspergillus fumigatus, and Aspergillus nidulans for their ability to infect bean leaves, corn kernels, and insects (Galleria mellonella). Strains of A. flavus did not affect nonwounded bean leaves, corn kernels, or insects at 22°C, but they killed insects following hemocoelic challenge and caused symptoms ranging from moderate to severe in corn kernels and bean leaves injured during inoculation. The pectinase P2c, implicated in aggressive colonization of cotton bolls, is produced by most A. flavus isolates, but its absence did not prevent colonization of bean leaves. Proteases have been implicated in colonization of animal hosts. All A. flavus strains produced very similar patterns of protease isozymes when cultured on horse lung polymers. Quantitative differences in protease levels did not correlate with the ability to colonize insects. In contrast to A. flavus, strains of A. nidulans and A. fumigatus could not invade living insect or plant tissues or resist digestion by insect hemocytes. Our results indicate that A. flavus has parasitic attributes that are lacking in A. fumigatus and A. nidulans but that individual strains of A. flavus are not specialized to particular hosts.  相似文献

Polyextremotolerant black yeast-like fungi thrive in moderately hostile environments where they are concomitantly subjected to several types of stress, such as toxicity, scarce nutrient availability, and high or low temperature extremes. Their ability to assimilate alkylbenzenes (toxic environmental pollutants) enhances their growth in harsh conditions, including on railway ties. Samples were collected using cotton swabs, premoistened with physiological saline, from 658 oak and concrete railway ties at six train stations in Turkey at altitudes ranging between 1026 and 1427 m. The samples were inoculated on malt extract agar supplemented with chloramphenicol, and incubated at 26 °C for 4 weeks. Twenty-four samples (3.6 %), 17 from oak and 7 from concrete (5.6 % vs. 2 %; P = 0.02), tested positive for fungi. Exophiala crusticola was found to be the most common species (n = 13), followed by Exophiala phaeomuriformis (n = 7) and Exophiala heteromorpha (n = 4). These results suggest that hydrocarbons, particularly creosote-treated oak woods, support the growth of black yeasts, some of which are opportunists in humans.  相似文献

Competitive exclusion of aflatoxin producers by endemic atoxigenic strains of Aspergillus flavus is a proven tool for aflatoxin management being adapted for use in Africa. Field efficacy of an experimental formulation consisting of four native atoxigenic strains (La3303, La3304, La3279 and Ka16127) was evaluated on maize in 2007 and 2008 in four agroecological zones in Nigeria. The four atoxigenic strains were individually formulated on sterile sorghum grain and subsequently mixed in equal proportions. The blended product was applied on soil (40 kg/ha), 2–3 weeks before flowering. Grains from treated and untreated fields were analyzed for aflatoxins at harvest and after storage. Proportions of the A. flavus population composed of each of the four applied strains in soil before treatment and in harvested grains were determined using vegetative compatibility analyses. Application of the strain mixture resulted in reduced aflatoxin content and significantly (P < 0.05) increased the combined frequencies of the vegetative compatibility groups (VCGs) of the applied strains recovered from the soil and grain. Aflatoxin reductions of 67–95% were associated with a 74–80% combined incidence of the VCGs of the four atoxigenic strains on the treated crops. The applied atoxigenic strains remained with the crop into storage and reduced postharvest increases in contamination. The results suggest that the evaluated multi-strain formulated product has potential to contribute to reduced aflatoxin contamination in Nigeria. This is the first report of a field evaluation of an endemic strain mixture effective at reducing aflatoxin contamination during crop development.  相似文献

Morchella spp. ascocarps (morels) are some of the world’s most sought-after mushrooms. Successful cultivation of morels is still a rare and difficult task despite over 100 years of effort. Here we provide the first report of successful Morchella rufobrunnea fruiting body initiation and development in laboratory-scale experiments. Mushroom initials appeared 2 to 4 weeks after first watering of pre-grown sclerotia incubated at 16 to 22°C and 90% humidity. Mature fruiting bodies reached 7 to 15 cm in length and were obtained after the five morphological developmental stages of this Morchella species: sclerotium formation, scelerotium germination, asexual spore formation, formation of initial knots and development of the fruiting body.  相似文献

Some strains of Aspergillus niger have been previously reported to produce sclerotia under certain conditions. Sclerotia are aggregations of hyphae which can act either as survival or as sexual structures in species related to A. niger. In this study, we were able to induce the formation of sclerotia in the progenitor of the industrial citric acid producing strains of A. niger, ATCC 1015, and in pyrG mutants derived from it. Sclerotia can be stably formed by ATCC 1015 on malt extract agar medium supplemented with raisins, showing a spatial differentiation of the fungus dependent on the addition and on the position of the fruits into the medium. On other media, including malt extract agar, pyrG auxotrophs also form abundant sclerotia, while the complementation of this gene reverses this phenotype. Additionally, a macro- and microscopical analysis of the sclerotia is reported. Our results show that the sclerotia formed by A. niger are similar to those formed by other fungi, not only in their morphology but also in their ability to germinate and regenerate the organism.  相似文献
