The toxicity of a series of organo-phosphorus compounds to the overwintering eggs of Aphis pomi Deg., Operophtera brumata (L.) and Metatetranychus ulmi (Koch) was examined by a laboratory technique. The eggs of M. ulmi were highly resistant to all the compounds tested, those of Operophtera brumata were most susceptible to P -nitrophenyl diethyl thionphosphate (E 605) and those of Aphis pomi to p-nitro- phenyl diethyl phosphate (E 600). With analogues of the last-mentioned compound there is evidence that their toxicity to A. pomi eggs is associated with the presence of electron-attracting substituents in the benzene nucleus. A number of organo-phosphorus compounds, including hexaethyl tetraphosphate and p -nitrophenyl diethyl thionphosphate, were highly toxic under laboratory conditions to the active summer stages of Metatetranychus ulmi , but the summer eggs of this mite were rather more resistant. Field trials of hexaethyl tetraphosphate and p -nitrophenyl diethyl thionphosphate for the control of the aphids Brachycaudus helichrysi (Kalt.), Phorodon hutnuli (Schr.) and Aphis pomi Deg. showed these substances to be effective substitutes for nicotine.  相似文献

Abstract:  The susceptibility of various developmental stages of Tetranychus evansi Baker & Pritchard (eggs, larvae, protonymphs, deutonymphs and adults) to the entomopathogenic fungi Metarhizium anisopliae (Metschnikoff) Sorokin and Beauveria bassiana (Balsamo) Vuillemin was evaluated under laboratory conditions. Three concentrations (3.0 × 106, 1.0 × 107 and 1.0 × 108 conidia/ml) of both fungi were used for each stage. The effect of fungal infection on fecundity and egg fertility was also investigated using both fungal species. Deutonymphs that survived the infection and developed into adult females were allowed to oviposit. Adults and deutonymphs were more susceptible to fungal infection than larval and protonymphal stages at all the concentrations. Nevertheless, the concentration level influenced the mortality of the different mite stages. Eggs were also susceptible to fungal infection and mortality was dose-dependent. Fungus-treated female mites laid fewer eggs than the controls but there was no significant difference in egg hatchability between the treatments.  相似文献

The relative toxicity (LC50 values based on µg oil/cm2) is evaluated of aqueous n C24 agricultural mineral oil (AMO) emulsions to the egg, six-legged nymph (larva), eight-legged protonymph and adult stages of two-spotted mite ( Tetranychus urticae ) and its predator, Phytoseiulus persimilis , on French bean leaf discs, using a Potter spray tower to apply of the oil. The egg of P. persimilis was the least susceptible stage (LC50 444.84) and its LC50 was significantly higher than all other stages tested of either P. persimilis or T. urticae . The LC50 for adult female T. urticae (LC50 63.89) was significantly lower than the larva (LC50 93.86); however, there was no significant difference in response between the protonymph (LC50 70.44) and the larva, which were both higher than T. urticae eggs (LC50 17.55). LC50s for P. persimilis larva (LC50 43.87), protonymph (LC50 41.55) and adult female (LC50 53.34) were similar. Scanning electron microscopy showed that the egg surface of T. urticae is usually well covered with fine silk that may trap more oil and increase AMO efficacy. Other possible differences in AMO efficacy between T. urticae and P. persimilis may be due to differences in egg size, egg incubation period, egg surface structure and the presence of vulnerable respiratory cones in T. urticae eggs. Dose of 0.2–0.3% (w/w) is considered to be the most appropriate for n C24 AMOs use against T. urticae in combination with P. persimilis in integrated pest management programs.  相似文献

The results of an investigation into the relation between chemical constitution and the knock-down activity and toxicity of thiocyanate insecticides are recorded. Linkage of the toxic thiocyano radical through a ketomethylene group to a lipoid soluble hydrocarbon residue gives rise to knock-down activity. The most active α-thiocyanoketones R. CO.CH2.SCN and thiocyanoacetates R. O. CO. CH2. SCN are too irritant to the eyes and nose for inclusion in domestic fly-sprays. Thiocyanoacetates derived from saturated 10-carbon alcohols, however, are non-irritant to the mucous membranes while possessing moderately high activity. We identified acaricidal compounds in Inula japonica Thunberg (Asteraceae) that were effective against carmine spider mite, Tetranychus cinnabarinus (Boisduval). Petroleum-ether extracts from I. japonica were toxic to T. cinnabarinus, with a 50% lethal concentration (LC50) value of 1.18 mg/ml. Silica gel column chromatography was used to separate the acaricidal components. Seventeen of 38 fraction groups had mite mortality rates >50%, nine fraction groups had rates >60%, and three fraction groups had rates >80% at 2 mg/ml. The major volatile compounds in the bioactive fraction groups were identified by gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy, and beta-sitosterol (1), stigmasterol (2), lupeol (3), and alpha-amyrin (4) were identified and determined to have acaricidal activity against T. cinnabarinus in vitro.  相似文献

Abstract The predatory behavior and functional response of all larval stages and adults of Nephpis oculatus (Blatchley), a predacious coccinellid, on various egg densities of Bemisia argentgolii Bellows & Pemng, and prey preference of adult N. oculatus , were studied in the laboratory. Daily consumption of eggs of B. argentifolii by N. oculatus was evaluated at six different densities to obtain functional response curves for all active stages of the coccinellid. Bemisia argentifolii eggs were offered to N. oculatus on collard leaf disks in Petri dish arenas over a 24-h period at 26.7 ∀ 2°C: and a photoperiod of 14:10 (L: D) h. Linear relationship were observed between percentage prey consumed and prey density, with r 2 values between 0.82–0.99 for all stages except for the fourth instar that had a smaller r2 value (0.64). Functional response curves of prey consumption by N. oculatus against density of B. argentifolii eggs fitted the type II model of Holling's disc equation for all larval stages and both the male and female adults. Adult females consumed more prey than adult males. The maximum theoretical number of prey consumed per day increased with larval development. The fourth instar was the most effective larval predator, followed by the third instar, the second instar, and finally, the first instar. Based on the functional response parameters, a maximum of 321, 312, 237, 229, 73, and 34 B. argentifolii eggs could be attacked by an adult female, a fourth instar, an adult male, a third instar, a second instar, and a first instar of N. oculatus , respectively. Nephaspis oculatus adults strongly preferred collard to tomato, soybean, eggplant or sweet-potato for oviposition and foraging. Nephaspis oculatus did not deposit any eggs on soybean and tomato.  相似文献

The false spider mite, Brevipalpus californicus (Banks), is a major citrus pest in Texas. This phytophagous mite causes damage to fruit, leaves and stems of citrus, and is also a vector of citrus leprosis virus. Galendromus helveolus (Chant) is one of the most prevalent predacious mite species found on Texas citrus. The predation potential of G. helveolus on different stages of B. californicus was evaluated in the laboratory. An individual immature G. helveolus mite consumed an average of 30.7 eggs, 53.6 larvae, or 22.7 nymphs of B. californicus before developing to an adult. An individual adult female G. helveolus consumed an average of 164.8 eggs, 369.6 larvae, or 80.9 nymphs of B. californicus. Both immature and adult G. helveolus never fed on adult stage of B. californicus and never completed development. The development times of the immature stages of G. helveolus were 4.5, 4.1 and 4.6 days when fed on eggs, larvae and nymphs of B. californicus, respectively. When G. helveolus fed on the larval stage of B. californicus, the adults had the longest longevity (18.5 days) and the highest fecundity (14.0 eggs/female).  相似文献

A novel macrocyclic lactone (1) was isolated from the fermentation broth of Streptomycesmicroflavus neau3, and the structure was elucidated by extensive spectroscopic analysis. Compound 1 showed high acaricidal activity against adult mites (IC(50)=11.1 μg mL(-1)), and nematocidal activity against Caenorhabditis elegans (IC(50)=17.4 μg mL(-1)), especially the acaricidal activity against mite eggs with an IC(50) of 37.1 μg mL(-1), which was relative higher than that of the commercial acaricide and nematocide milbemycins A(3)/A(4).  相似文献

Abstract:  The host plant-mediated impact of simulated acid rain (pH 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 5.6, and 6.8) on the behaviour, development, and reproduction of carmine spider mite, Tetranychus cinnabarinus (Boisduvals), were evaluated at 25°C in a series of laboratory trials. The results indicated that the adults of carmine spider mite prefer to aggregate on pH 4.0 acid rain-treated eggplant leaves. The developmental times of nymph, larva and the pre-oviposition period of the mite on kidney bean leaves were significantly affected by acid rain treatments. The developmental times for the immature stages ranged from 11.4 days on pH 4.0 acid rain-treated leaves to 12.7 days on other acid rain-treated leaves. The survival of immatures varied from 85.14% on pH 4.0 acid rain-treated leaves to 78.83% on deionized water-treated leaves (pH 6.8). The mites feeding on acid rain-treated leaves (pH 3.0–5.6) had significantly greater reproductivity and longevity than those feeding on deionized water-treated leaves. The average greatest reproductivity (74.6 eggs per female) and longest female longevity (8.9 days) were recorded on pH 4.0 acid rain-treated leaves. Accordingly, the intrinsic rate of increase ( r m ) for the mite on pH 4.0 acid rain-treated leaves was the highest. Jackknife estimates of r m varied from 0.201 on pH 4.0 acid rain-treated leaves to 0.158 on pH 5.6 acid rain-treated leaves. The results implied that the population growth of the mite were enhanced by application of acid rain (pH 3.0–5.6) on host plants.  相似文献

Power-law relationships have been estimated between fecundity and fish length, weight and age for pike from two gravel pit lakes (Main Lake and St Peter's Lake) in Buckinghamshire, England. Relative fecundity, estimated at 17.6 eggs g−1 for Main Lake pike and 19.4 g−1 for St Peter's Lake pike, did not differ significantly between the lakes. Population fecundity for the Main Lake was estimated at 10.6 million eggs and 6.4 million eggs in 1986 and 1987, respectively.
Experimental work involving samples of eggs from 18 artificially fertilized Main Lake female pike showed a significant relationship between egg diameter and female length, and a significant difference between mean egg diameters for 41-cm and 101-cm females. No significant relationships were found between mean egg size and mean fry size, nor between fry length and adult length. Mean size differences between newly hatched, 18-day-old and 41-day-old fry from the 41-cm and 101-cm females were not significant.
Samples of eggs taken at 2-day intervals from 6 April to 5 May in a pike spawning area of the Main Lake revealed clumped distributions of eggs, with average egg densities ranging from 1 to 47 eggs per 0.071 m2 (14–671 m 2) on sand and silt substrata. The maximum egg density of 51 per 0.071 m2 (729 m−2) was found on flooded grass. The stages of development of the eggs were identified over the sampling period. Survival from stage 1 to fry was estimated at 3–6%. Egg losses were estimated at 9–10% day−1.
Egg survival experiments gave overall hatching success rates of 11 % on sand/silt compared with 2.5% on aquatic plants (1986), and 18.9% on undisturbed sand/silt compared with 7.9% on disturbed sand/silt (1987). The effect of siltation on egg hatching is discussed.  相似文献

The toxicity of a number of dyestuffs to the spores of Fusarium culmorum and Cercosporella herpotrichoides was determined by the slide-germination technique. No attempt was made to distinguish between fungistatic and fungicidal activity.
The toxicity of basic dyestuffs was unaffected by the acid radicle associated with the dye base.
The high toxicity to Fusarium culmorum of malachite green dye base was reduced weight for weight and mole for mole by substitution of ethyl, propyl or butyl groups for methyl groups.
The reduction of malachite green to malachite green leuco base removed toxicity.
The substitution of amino groups and alkylated amino groups in benzene nuclei of triphenyl methane increased toxicity, whereas acid groups reduced toxicity. Sulphonation and carboxylation reduced toxicity to vanishing point.
Alkylation of amino groups increased, but alkylation of benzene nuclei did not affect toxicity appreciably.
When the central carbon atom of the triphenyl methane dyestuffs was replaced by nitrogen (e.g. Bindschedler's green) the diphenyl ammonium compounds were less toxic than the corresponding triphenyl-methane compounds.
The prevention of rotation of the aminated benzene rings by bridging, in the o -position to central atom, with O or N, and so obtaining a planar molecule only slightly affected toxicity.
Certain acid dyes stimulated fungal growth.
The toxicity of the basic dyestuffs seems to depend not on one specific part but on the molecule as a whole, and within certain limits the structure may be varied without pronounced changes in toxicity.  相似文献

The predacious ascid mite Lasioseius athiasae Nawar and Nasr was found in association with herbaceous plants, fallen leaves and in debris under deciduous fruit trees. The larvae fed and developed on different prey, such as 'motile stages of the eriophyid grass mite Aceria dioscoridis (Soliman and Abou-Awad), eggs of house fly Musca domestica L., nymphs of the two-spotted spider mite Tetranychus urticae Koch, and eggs of the root-knot nematode Meloidogyne incognita Chitwood. Eriophyids of grasses caused the immature stages to develop faster than did other prey. During the oviposition period, daily consumtion by a female of L. athiasae was 97  A. dioscoridis , four M. domestica eggs, and 10 T. urticae nymphs . The average number of eggs/female per day was 3.21, 1.63 and 1.26 for the above-mentioned prey, respectively. A low rate was recorded on M. incognita eggs (0.35). The intrinsic rate of increase ( rm ) was increased when fed on A. dioscoridis , but decreased on other prey species. The multiplication per generation ( R o) was 44.73 times in a generation time ( T ) of 17.92 days when fed on eriophyids. The eriophyid grass mite proved to be the more suitable prey. The polypeptide analysis of different prey revealed that A. dioscoridis has the most important contents in both number (11 polypeptides) or total molecular weight (682 kDa).  相似文献

Vegetalization Induced by Procaine and Tetracaine in Sea Urchin Embryos   总被引:4,自引:4,他引:0  
Vegetalization of sea urchin embryos was induced by the treatment with procaine and tetracaine, inhibitors of Ca2+mobilization, for 3 hr starting 3–5 hr after insemination at 20°C. The treatment starting 7 hr after insemination sometimes produced similar type of vegetalized embryos. The pulse treatment starting at the other stages hardly yielded vegetalized embryos. The stages at which these compounds were effective to produce vegetalized embryos were almost the same to those for Li+to make embryos vegetalized. On the basis of known inhibitory effects of tetracaine, procaine and Li+on Ca2+mobilization, we postulate that Ca2+dependent reactions participate in the process of cell determination at these stages. Inhibitory effects of procaine, tetracaine and Li+on Ca2+dependent induction of fertilization membrane formation, found in the present study, indicate that these compounds block Ca2+mobilization in sea urchin eggs.  相似文献

The duration of the immature stages of Cacopsylla pyri L. was studied under field conditions by artificially infesting pear branches on several dates during the year. The duration of the egg stage decreased from winter to summer, as the season progresses and temperature rises, and slightly increased in September. It ranged from 27.4 to 6.7 days. The same trend was observed in the duration of the first three larval stages (L1−3) which ranged from 18.8 to 10.3 days. For eggs deposited during the period February–August the duration of the last two larval stages (L4−5) ranged from 17.5 to 12.1 days. However, the duration of L4−5 developed from eggs deposited in September and which give rise to winter-form adults were the longest observed. The rate of egg development was related to average ambient temperature with a highly significant linear relationship. This relationship indicates that the egg stage requires a constant number of 158.9 (SD = 5.0) of day-degrees above an average temperature of 2.31°C to complete development. The rate of development both of L1−3 and L4−5 were related to average ambient temperature with curvilinear relationships. These relationships indicate a proportional increase in the developmental rate as temperature rises between 10–22°C. At the higher average temperatures that occurred in the summer experiments (24–27°C) the acceleration of development of L1−3 is reduced and the developmental rate of L4−5 decreases. The developmental rates of L4−5 developed from eggs deposited in September did not follow the established relationship with temperature and they were lower than those in the other periods of the year with the same average temperature.  相似文献

Four new doramectin congeners, 1-4, were isolated from Streptomyces avermitilis NEAU1069. The structures of 1-4 were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic analysis, including 1D- and 2D-NMR as well as HR-ESI-MS, ESI-MS, UV, and IR, and comparison with literature data. All compounds exhibited noticeable acaricidal and insecticidal activities. Especially compound 2 was found to be the most potent pesticide of the compounds evaluated with the IC(50) values of 10.2, 65.1 and 124.4 μg/ml against adult two-spotted spider mites (Tetranychus urticae Koch), two-spotted spider mite eggs, and Mythimna separata, respectively, which are comparable to those of commercial pesticide milbemycin A(3)/A(4) as positive reference.  相似文献

In the diapausing eggs of the silkworm, Bombyx mori , glycogen is rapidly converted to sorbitol and glycerol, and this conversion is reversed at termination of the diapause (C hino , 1958). To elucidate the pathway leading to this polyol formation and its regulatory mechanisms, enzymes concerning carbohydrate metabolism were surveyed in diapausing as well as in developing eggs of the silkworm.
Most of the enzyme activities concerning citric acid cycle are low at the beginning of the embryogenesis and during diapause, but increase at the later stages of the development. Making an exception, reduction rate of malate and fumarate was rather high from the onset of the embryonic development. Several glycolytic enzymes were also studied. Most remarkable fact is that phosphofructokinase activity could not be demonstrated in the diapausing and also in the early stages of the developing eggs. Other enzymes, viz. α-glycerophosphate dehydrogenase, aldolase, glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase were detected from the beginning of the embryogenesis.
Absence of phosphofructokinase, together with the high activity in glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, suggests that predominant pathway in carbohydrate metabolism in the early stages of embryogenesis and in the diapause period is by way of pentose phosphate pathway. This supposition is confirmed by the experiments using labeled glucose. Incorporation of the label into glycerol of the diapausing eggs was three to four fold when G-6-14C was injected into pupae as compared with the case of G-1-14C injection. The above experiments provide evidence supporting the theory that glycogen is converted into sorbitol and glycerol mostly by way of the pentose phosphate pathway in the diapausing eggs.  相似文献

Bifenazate is a novel carbazate acaricide discovered by Uniroyal Chemical (now Chemtura Corporation) for the control of phytophagous mites infesting agricultural and ornamental crops. Its acaricidal activity and that of its principal active metabolite, diazene, were characterized. Bifenazate and diazene had high toxicity and specificity both orally and topically to all life stages of Tetranychus urticae and Panonychus citri. Acute poisoning was observed with no temperature dependency. No cross-resistance was found to mites resistant to several other classes of acaricides, such as tebufenpyrad, etoxazole, fenbutatin oxide and dicofol. Bifenazate remained effective for a long time with only about a 10% loss of efficacy on T. urticae after 1 month of application in the field. All stages of development of the predatory mites, Phytoseiulus persimilis and Neoseiulus californicus, survived treatment by both bifenazate and diazene. When adult females of the two predatory mite species were treated with either bifenazate or diazene, they showed a normal level of fecundity and predatory activity in the laboratory, effectively suppressing spider mite population growth. Even when the predators were fed spider mite eggs that had been treated previously with bifenazate, they survived. These findings indicate that bifenazate is a very useful acaricide giving high efficacy, long-lasting activity and excellent selectivity for spider mites. It is, therefore, concluded that bifenazate is an ideal compound for controlling these pest mites.  相似文献

The effects of NeemAzal-T/S®, a commercial neem product, on different life development stages of the common greenhouse whitefly Trialeurodes vaporariorum Westwood (Hom., Aleyrodidae) were tested in laboratory and greenhouse experiments. Treatment of eggs of T. vaporariorum did not affect either larval emergence or the time until larval emergence. However, the proportion of pupal formation (based on the numbers of emerged larvae) was significantly reduced after a treatment of the eggs 3, 5 and 7 days after oviposition, respectively. The proportion of emerged adults (based on the number of formed pupae) was only significantly reduced when eggs had been treated 5 and 7 days after oviposition. In all neem treatments the time until adult emergence was significantly delayed. A neem treatment of early larval instars of T. vaporariorum resulted in a significantly reduced proportion of pupal formation, but subsequent adult emergence (based on the number of formed pupae) was not affected. Treating early larval instars of T. vaporariorum significantly prolonged the time until adult emergence. A neem treatment of T. vaporariorum pupae significantly reduced the proportion of emerged adults but had no effect on the time until adult emergence. Exposing female whiteflies to fresh, 24-h-old and 72-h-old residues of NeemAzal-T/S® had no effect on the mortality of the insects, though the number of eggs laid per female was significantly reduced in T. vaporariorum exposed to fresh neem residues. These findings are discussed within the context of integrated control of whiteflies in the greenhouse environment.  相似文献

Deformation movement (groove-forming activity of the equatorial surface) was induced in the spherical Tubifex egg by treatment with ionophore A23187 (5–10 μg/ml). The degree of induced movement was maximal when the treatment was commenced at the beginning of the round stages, i.e. , immediately after disappearance of the grooves formed in the preceding normal deformation movement; it gradually decreased as the onset of the treatment was delayed. This induction was independent of either external Ca2+ or Mg2+. Ultrastructural examination of eggs undergoing the induced movement revealed the presence of organized microfilaments in the cortical layer of the grooving regions. It is assumed that the absence of contractile activity during the round stages of the Tubifex egg is attributed basically to the low availability of intracellularly stored Ca2+. The results also suggest that the distribution and/or the amount of the contractile elements change during these stages.  相似文献

Fumigant activity of 34 commercial essential oils was assessed on female adults and eggs of twospotted spider mite, Tetranychus urticae Koch (Acari: Tetranychidae) at three temperatures (5, 15, and 25 degrees C). Common thyme, cinnamon, and lemongrass oils were equally effective on twospotted spider mite adults showing 85.8-100% mortality at 5 and 10 microl/liter air at 25 degrees C. At a lower temperature of 15 degrees C, lemongrass and peppermint resulted in > or =90% mortality of adults at 10 microl/liter air. Only lemongrass was relatively active at 5 microl/liter air, at 15 degrees C. At 5 degrees C, lemongrass and peppermint caused significantly higher adult mortality than controls but only at 10 microl/liter air. Common thyme oil showed the highest ovicidal activity at 5 microl/liter air at 25 degrees C. Among the main components of common thyme and lemongrass oils, citral was lethal to twospotted spider mite adults at all tested temperatures. Carvacrol, thymol, and citral caused the same inhibitory effects on the hatch of twospotted spider mite eggs at 25 degrees C. However, citral was more active than other compounds to twospotted spider mite eggs at 15 degrees C. Therefore, we conclude that citral has the best potential for development as a fumigant against twospotted spider mite on agricultural products harvested late in the growing season.  相似文献
