Nomenclatural status of Brachirus Swainson, Synaptura Cantor and Euryglossa Kaup (Soleidae, Pleuronectiformes)

We find that Brachirus Swainson, 1839 is a valid soleid (Pleuronectiformes) genus name, Euryglossa Kaup, 1858 is an invalid soleid genus name, and Synaptura Cantor, 1849 is a junior objective synonym of Brachirus. However, for the sake of taxonomic stability and because Synaptura Cantor, 1849 has had a long-term consistent usage within the Soleidae for four species (S. commersoni, S. lusitanica, S. marginata, and S. albomaculata) forming a monophyletic group, we will petition the International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature to recognize Synaptura Cantor, 1849 as a valid genus name with its type-species being Pleuronectes commersoni Lacepède, 1802. Stenosoma stephenseni sp. n. (Isopoda, Idoteidae), from the southwestern Mediterranean, with a note on the nomenclatural status of Synisoma Collinge, 1917

Recent collections of isopods in Alboran Island and Algeria included several specimens of the species Stenosoma stephensenisp. n. This is the fourteenth species described in the genus Stenosoma Leach, 1814. Examination of two specimens collected during the Danish oceanographic cruises of the Thor (1908-10) close to the Galite Islands, and identified as Stenosoma acuminatum Leach, 1814, revealed that both belong to Stenosoma stephensenisp. n. In light of these findings, the Mediterranean records of Stenosoma acuminatum are revised, and it is proposed that Stenosoma acuminatum is a strictly Atlantic species. An updated diagnosis for the genus Stenosoma is given, together with a key for the identification of its species. The nomenclatural status of the name Synisoma Collinge, 1917 is addressed, and although it is in prevailing usage, it is shown that Stenosoma Leach, 1814 is the valid name of the genus.     

角瘿绵蚜属的研究及新亚属新种记述(同翅目:瘿绵蚜科)(英语)

本文描述了角瘿绵蚜叶瘿亚属Selibaizongia subg.nov.和卵角瘿绵蚜新种Baizongia(S.)ovagallasp.nov.及多感角瘿绵蚜新种Baizongia(S.)sensucopia sp.nov,并建议重新恢复印度角瘿绵蚜B.aedificator(Buckton,1893)的独立种地位.模式标本存中国科学院动物研究所.     

张氏红山茶——一个具有优先权的合法和正确名称

张氏红山茶Camellia changii Ye是1985年在广东省植物学年会上以抽印本先行发表的,依照国际植物命名法规第29.1条款,第30.4条款和第31.1条款,根据它刊印在广东省植物学会会刊第三期在发表时间上的说明以及1985年12月20日编印的广东省植物学会1985年年会论文目录,均表明张氏红山茶的学名是一个有效发表和合格发表的名称。C.azalea Wei是张氏红山茶的一个晚出异名,中国植物志合并了C.azalea Wei应是权威的选择,对此应该加以尊重。     

The correct name for Bulbophyllum uniflorum Griff., nom. illeg. (Orchidaceae)

An attempt is made to find the correct name for Bulbophyllum uniflorum Griff., nom. illeg., and as valid name Bulbophyllum monanthum (Kze.) J. J. Smith is proposed.     

Chronological analysis of the species of Conus described during the 18th century

The 339 species-group names in the gastropod genus Conus proposed between 1758 and 1800 have been analyzed in chronological order, in order to (1) identify each nominal species, and (2) determine the correct name of each valid species. Additions and corrections are given to the author's series of papers on type specimens and identity of the described species of Conus. A table listing the 339 species-group names alphabetically indicates the present locations of the 124 known type specimens and the status of each name. At present, 123 valid species are recognized (118 Recent, 5 Tertiary), 159 names are synonyms of previously or simultaneously described species, 35 are nomina dubia, 19 are assigned to infrasubspecific rank, and 3 have been trandferred to genera in other families. Problems involving homonymy of 44 names have been resolved. The proportion of valid species to described species remained quite constant (about 80%) between 1758 and 1786, but then declined sharply to 40%. By 1800, although only 13% of all known species-group names in Conus had been introduced, they probably account for 25% of the known valid Recent species. Extension of the chronological study to species described through 1840 may establish the correct names of half the valid Recent species of Conus.     

花生新珠蚧的学名考证(半翅目:蚧总科:珠蚧科)

通过标本观察和资料分析,作者认为在中国中部严重为害花生的新珠蚧学名应是Neomargarodes gossypii Yang,并且对该虫的各虫态特征进行了重新描述。     

Caelorinchus abditilux Merrett, 1980, a junior synonym of Caelorinchus caudani (Koehler, 1896) (Teleostei: Macrouridae)

Comparisons between the holotype of Macrurus caudani Koehler, 1896 and the type series of Caelorinchus abditilux Merrett, 1980, show that the latter is a junior synonym of the former. Caelorinchus caudani (Koehler, 1896) is the correct scientific name for this valid species.     

Dolichopithecus balcanicus sp. nov., a new Colobinae (Primates, Cercopithecidae) from the early Pliocene of southeastern Europe, with a discussion on the taxonomy of the genus

We describe a new species of Dolichopithecus, D. balcanicus sp. nov., from the Pliocene (late Ruscinian) of the Balkans. Although known by mandibular remains only, it is readily distinguished from the common European species, D. ruscinensis, by its smaller size, much shallower mandibular corpus, and crowding of the premolars. Ukrainian finds of "Adelopithecus" can be accommodated within D. ruscinensis as a separate, smaller subspecies, D. ruscinensis hypsilophus, but the specimens reported from Asia are more distinct, and they probably represent a separate subgenus of Dolichopithecus, the valid name of which is D. (Parapresbytis) Kalmykov and Mashchenko.     

On two species of Diptera described by I. A. Portschinsky in 1876

In 1876 I.A. Portschinsky described two species of Diptera: Urellia muscipora Portschinsky (Tephritidae) and Phlebotomus grimmi Portschinsky (Psychodidae–Phlebotominae). The former name is a senior synonym of Goniurellia tridens (Hendel, 1910), but it was not used as a valid name since 1876 and should be rejected according to Articles 23.9.1.1 and 23.9.1.2 of the ICZN. The name Phlebotomus grimmi was in use in 1926–1984 as a valid name and as a senior synonym of Ph. sergenti Parrot, 1917 or Ph. caucasicus Marzinovsky, 1917. It is necessary to appeal to the International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature to establish the status of Phlebotomus grimmi Portschinsky, 1876.     

斑苦竹学名的订正

作者研究了斑苦竹后认为, 当斑苦竹组合到青篱竹属Arundinaria 时, 其合法双名应为Arundinaria oleosa (Wen)C.S.Chao et G.Y.Yang。而Arundinaria chinensis C.S.Chao et G.Y.Yang 和Acidosasa lentiginosa W.T.Lin et Z.J.Feng 为斑苦竹的新异名。     

Oxydromus Grube, 1855 reinstated over Ophiodromus Sars, 1862 (Polychaeta,Hesionidae)

The hesionid polychaete genera Oxydromus Grube, 1855 and Ophiodromus Sars, 1862 have been regarded as synonyms with the former considered as invalid since it was thought to be a junior homonym of Oxydromus Schlegel, 1854. However, Schlegel’s name is an incorrect subsequent spelling for Ocydromus Wagler, 1830 (Aves, Gruiformes, Rallidae) and is not an available name. Consequently, Oxydromus Grube, 1855 must be reinstated for this hesionid polychaete genus. A check-list of valid species of Oxydromus including 30 new combinations is provided.
