In the present paper, we describe and figure some rare lower Aptian (Lower Cretaceous) helical ammonoids from the Deshayesites deshayesi Zone of the Argiles à Plicatules Formation (Paris Basin, NE France). Those are the only helical ammonoids known in this zone so far. They were only occasionally evoked in literature and this is probably on the basis of the specimens here described that, according to us, the genus Toxoceratoides (Helicancylidae) was wrongly regarded as possessing an early helical spiral part. We demonstrate here that these specimens are not belonging to Toxoceratoides nor Helicancylidae: they are interpreted as ‘abnormally’ helical representatives of the genus Ancyloceras (Ancyloceratidae) or a new taxon of Ancyloceratidae.  相似文献

New palynological analysis of the Arcillas de Morella Formation provides data for determinations of age of the Lower Cretaceous strata in the Ermita Sant Antoni de la Vespa section located in the district of Els Ports in the Morella sub-basin of Castellón province, north-eastern Spain. Controversy still exists over the age of this formation, which is imprecisely dated as either Barremian or Aptian in age. Detailed reconnaissance of palynological content (dinocyst, pollen and spore assemblages) together with ammonoid data permits a more accurate biostratigraphic assessment of this deposit. The presence of Subtilisphaera terrula, Florentinia mantelli and Oligosphaeridium abaculum indicates a Barremian age at the base of the formation. The presence of Stellatopollis at the top of this formation possibly indicates that the deposit may be as old as latest Barremian. Furthermore, a recent study of ammonoids situated the Barremian-Aptian boundary within the overlying Cap de Vinyet Member of the Forcall Formation in the Morella sub-basin. This study together with the palynological assemblage from the Arcillas de Morella Formation indicates a Barremian age for this deposit.  相似文献

Knowledge of the Early Cretaceous ammonoids of the NW‐Himalayas was poor until recent discoveries. Intense sampling from the Giumal Formation exposed near the village of Chikkim (Spiti Valley, Himachal Pradesh, India) led to the recognition of a new Early Cretaceous ammonoid fauna. The succession consists of arenitic sandstone interbedded with shale that was deposited by turbidity currents on an unstable shelf in the Early Cretaceous. Ammonoids have been obtained only from sandstone beds in the lower one‐third and close to the top of the c. 350‐m‐thick section. Eight new ammonoid taxa (1 genus and 7 species) are described: Sinzovia franki sp. nov. (rare), Giumaliceras giumaliense gen. et sp. nov. (abundant), Giumaliceras bhargavai gen. et sp. nov. (rare), Neocomites (Eristavites) platycostatiformis sp. nov. (rare), Cleoniceras oberhauseri sp. nov. (abundant), Australiceras himalayense sp. nov. (rare) and Deshayesites fuchsi sp. nov. (rare). Sinzovia and Deshayesites are reported for the first time from the Tethyan Himalaya. According to the biostratigraphic relevance of some ammonoid taxa described here, the age of the Giumal Formation can be constrained from Berriasian (Giumaliceras assemblage) to Aptian (Cleoniceras assemblage). The discovery of the new fauna substantiates the significance of the Giumal Formation around Chikkim and facilitates comparison with faunal assemblages from other regions in the Tethys Ocean and beyond.  相似文献

In the present work, we examine a sample of 54 specimens of the heteromorph ammonite genus Ancyloceras d’Orbigny, 1842 from the Argiles à Plicatules Formation (lower Aptian, Lower Cretaceous) of the eastern Paris Basin (NE France). The results are as follows: (1) the sample is regarded as monospecific and assigned to the well-named species Ancyloceras varians d’Orbigny, 1842; (2) its variability is continuous and concerns as well as adult size, coiling and shell ornamentation. Adult size varies by a factor of two from one individual to another. The angle between the proversum and the retroversum is variable. The ornamentation on the spiral and the proversum varies between robust morphotype with trituberculate strong ribs separated by few smooth intercalaries ribs and slender morphotype with feebly tuberculate ribs. There are no arguments in favor of sexual dimorphism in Ancyloceras varians.  相似文献

Bas Auran, in south‐eastern France, is the candidate area for Global Boundary Stratotype Section and Point (GSSP) of the base of the Bathonian Stage (Middle Jurassic). In the Bas Auran area, upper Bajocian and lower Bathonian deposits are made up of limestone beds alternating with marls that correspond to the ‘Marno‐calcaires àCancellophycus’, below the ‘Terres Noires’ Formation. Taphonomic analyses of the successive ammonoid fossil assemblages provide new and complementary data for biostratigraphic completeness, palaeoenvironmental setting and sequence stratigraphy. Lithologic differentiation between limestone and marl intervals resulted from alternating episodes of carbonate input and starvation. Both lithologic phases may contain evidence for sedimentary and taphonomic reworking, associated with scours, that reflects low rates of sedimentation and stratigraphic condensation. Three successive types of elementary cycles resulted from increasing rates of stratigraphic condensation, sedimentary condensation and substrate stabilization during early Bathonian. The occurrence of reelaborated ammonoids (i.e. exhumed and displaced before their final burial) implies that tractive current flows or winnowing affected the burial of concretionary internal moulds. In the lower Bathonian strata, the dominance of homogeneous concretionary internal moulds of phragmocones, completely filled with sediment, is indicative of low rates of sedimentation and sediment accumulation, respectively associated with low degrees of stratigraphic and sedimentary condensation. However, at the Bajocian/Bathonian transition, hemipelagic, bed‐scale limestone–marl alternations show a maximum value of biostratigraphic completeness and there is no evidence for taphonomic condensation in the ammonoid fossil assemblages. Taphonomic analyses of the successive ammonoid fossil assemblages and taphofacies confirm the development of a deepening phase associated with sedimentary starvation, which characterizes the last episode within the deepening half‐cycle of third and second order cycles, in the Bas Auran area of French Subalpine Basin during early Bathonian.  相似文献

In the Gedinnian Landévennec Sandstones Formation(Rade de Brest, Finistère, Massif Armoricain), rich and well-preserved assemblages of organic-walled microplancton were observed. In the Lanvéoc section, worked out bed after bed, fifty-five species of this organic-walled microphytoplancton of uncertain algal affinity and Prasinophyceae are described. Four genera and fifteen species are new in this total. The assemblage shows many relationship to others gedinnian microplancton from Europa. Africa and United States of America.  相似文献

More than fifty ostracod species, twenty-two of which are Entomozoacea, have been identified in the upper part of the Teferguenite Formation and in the Marhouma Formation. The zonal sequence established on the Entomozoacea is applicable to the Frasnian and the Famennian of the Algerian Sahara; seven zones are recognized. One new species, Tubulibairdia marhoumaensis nov. sp., is described.  相似文献

The low Lower Cambrian rocks from the Sierra de Córdoba, which consist of well exposed mixed facies and abundant fossil assemblages showing long stratigraphic ranges throughout the Pedroche Formation, represent one of the best successions of this age in Europe. The fossil assemblages include diverse Ovetian archaeocyaths, trilobites, small shelly fossils, calcimicrobia, trace fossils and stromatolites. Trilobites are still poorly known, and thus they are the main objective of this work. The trilobites studied originate from three sections. At the Arroyo de Pedroche 1 section, cf. Bigotinella and Bigotinabivallata are replaced towards the top by Lemdadellalinaresae, Lemdadellaperejoni sp. nov. and, finally, by Eoredlichia cf. ovetensis. At the Arroyo de Pedroche 2 section, Lemdadellalinaresae is replaced by Lemdadellaperejoni sp. nov. and Eoredlichia cf. ovetensis, while at the Puente de Hierro section Lemdadellalinaresae, L. aff. linaresae and Serraniaverae occur together. These new biostratigraphic data confirm that the Pedroche Formation, originally defined as a repetitive sequence of four members, contains only two members. The new trilobite discoveries permit the first tentative correlation between the Ovetian of southern Spain and Lower Cambrian strata from the High Atlas (Morocco), Siberia, Antarctica and Carteret (France).  相似文献

Abstract: Intensive sampling of the Luolou (northwestern Guangxi) and the Daye (southern Guizhou) Formations in South China leads to the recognition of a regional Griesbachian and Dienerian ammonoid succession for this key palaeobiogeographical area. The new biostratigraphical sequence comprises the upper Griesbachian ‘Ophiceras beds’ and the lower Dienerian ‘Proptychites candidus beds’, which are separated from the uppermost Dienerian ‘Clypites beds’ by an unfossiliferous interval. These faunas contain some taxa with wide geographic distribution (e.g. Ambites, Pleurambites, Pleurogyronites, Proptychites candidus), thus facilitating correlation with faunal successions from other regions (i.e. British Columbia, Canadian Arctic, Himalayas and South Primorye). Two new genera (Jieshaniceras and Shangganites) and three new species (Anotoceras subtabulatus, Pleurambites radiatus and Shangganites shangganense) are described.  相似文献

Large acanthomorphic acritarchs have been previously reported from the Ediacaran successions of the Pachmunda and Krol Hill synclines in the Outer Krol Belt of Lesser Himalaya, India. Thin sections of chert from Krol ‘A’ Formation in Khanog and Rajgarh synclines, Outer Krol Belt, record an equally well developed and diversified assemblage of Ediacaran large acanthomorphic acritarchs. This assemblage contains specimens belonging to seven genera and ten species, identified as: Appendisphaera fragilis, A. grandis, Asterocapsoides sp. A, Asterocapsoides sp. B, Cavaspina acuminata, C. basiconica, Eotylotopalla dactylos, Knollisphaeridium sp., Papillomembrana sp., and Weissiella cf. grandistella. It also contains five unnamed forms, viz. A, B, C, D, and E. The Krol acritarch assemblage shows a close resemblance with the Upper Doushantuo or Tanarium anozosTanarium conoideum assemblage of China. However, the absence of biostratigraphically important markers such as Tanarium anozos and T. conoideum from the Krol assemblage, so far, makes it difficult to establish a definite biostratigraphic correlation between the two assemblages. The current observations from this new locality provide additional data for regional and global biostratigraphic correlation, and significantly increase the purview of Ediacaran sequences for global biostratigraphic zonation.  相似文献

本文对云南省东南部的泸西县白水镇小兴安村上三叠统卡尼阶小凹组菊石类进行了详细研究,共发现菊石9属13种,其中Anasirenites属为华南首次发现。依据各物种组合特征及其地层分布情况,自下而上识别出菊石Trachyceras multituberculatum带和Austrotrachyceras triadicum带,时代对应于晚三叠世早卡尼期的Julian 1和Julian 2。该菊石组合不仅记录了卡尼期Julian期Trachyceratidae的辐射事件,同时该菊石组合与卡尼期特提斯域和泛大洋域的菊石组合均有良好的对比性,并且为华南古地理研究提供了新的补充材料。另外,通过对剖面的岩性特征与菊石生物地层特征分析,认为在滇东南地区由于卡尼期湿润幕事件(CPE)所导致的碳酸盐岩台地消亡起始时间应为Julian 1末期略早于陆源碎屑输入的Julian 2亚期。  相似文献

The Nabeul-Hammamet series analysis allows to recognize the six biozona known in the Mediterranean realm, as specified by Cita (1975a). These are: the Sphaeroidinellopsis subdehiscens BANNER & BLOW acme biozone equivalent to MPL1; the Globorotalia margaritae margaritae BOLLI & BERMUDEZ interval zone (= MPL2); the Globorotalia margaritae BOLLI & BERMUDEZ, Globorotalia puncticulata (DESHAYES), concurrent range zone (= MPL3); the Sphaeroidinellopsis subdehiscens BANNER & BLOW interval zone (= MPL4); the Globigerinoides elongatus (D’ORBIGNY) interval zone (= MPL5); the Globorotalia inflata (D’ORBIGNY) interval zone (= MPL6). There is no similarity between these biozones and those established by Berggren and al. (1995) for the atlantic and the indo-pacific realms. The MPL1, MPL2, MPL3 and MPL4 zones are especially englobed in argillaceous and yellow sandy lithological units specified in north-eastern Tunisia, such as ‘Argiles des Potiers’, ‘Sables Jaunes de Nabeul’ and ‘Argiles de Sidi Barka’. These units are together equivalent to the Raf-Raf Formation developed towards the North, in the Bizerte area. Besides, the MPL5 and the MPL6 zones are included in sands and sandstones composing the Hammamet unit, equivalent to the Porto-Farina Formation.  相似文献

Based on newly collected materials from the Lower Triassic Feixianguan Formation of Xiongwu section in Xingyi, Guizhou and the Ximatang Formation of Ximatang section in Qiubei, Yunnan, southern China, nine species belonging to seven genera are described. Two bivalve assemblages are recognized and regionally correlated in South China. The bivalve assemblage from the Feixianguan Formation of Xiongwu exhibits a higher diversity including seven species belonging to seven genera: Claraia griesbachi, Leptochondria virgalensis, Entolium (Entolium) microtis, Towapteria scythicum, Bakevillia exporrecta, Bositra sp., and Unionites? fassaensis. In contrast, the bivalve assemblage from the Ximatang Formation of Ximatang has a much lower diversity, consisting of only two species, i.e., Claraia griesbachi and Claraia radialis. Additionally, C. griesbachi and C. radialis, as the most common species of Claraia in the Early Triassic, are revised.  相似文献

Intensive sampling of three earliest Spathian sites represented by the Lower Shale unit and coeval beds within the Bear Lake vicinity and neighboring areas, southeastern Idaho, yielded several new ammonoid and nautiloid assemblages. These new occurrences overall indicate that the lower boundary of the Tirolites beds, classically used as a regional marker for the base of the early Spathian, and therefore the regional Smithian/Spathian boundary, must be shifted downward into the Lower Shale unit and coeval beds. Regarding ammonoids, one new genus (Caribouceras) and two new species (Caribouceras slugense and Albanites americanus) are described. In addition, the regional temporal distribution of Bajarunia, Tirolites, Columbites, and Coscaites is refined, based on a fourth sampled site containing a newly reported occurrence of the early Spathian Columbites fauna in coeval beds of the Middle Shale unit. As a complement to ammonoids, changes observed in nautiloid dominance are also shown to facilitate correlation with high-latitude basins such as Siberia during this short time interval, and they also highlight the major successive environmental fluctuations that took place during the late Smithian–early Spathian transition.  相似文献

Trace fossils are still poorly known, and thus they are the main objective of this work. Ichnological data are obtained from the Arroyo de Pedroche 1, Arroyo de Pedroche 2 and Puente de Hierro sections. Trace fossils include the ichnogenera Bergaueria, aff. Bilinichnus, Cochlichnus, aff. Cosmorhaphe?, Cylindrichnus, Dactyloidites, Dimorphichnus, Diplichnites, Monocraterion, Palaeophycus, aff. Phycodes, Planolites, Psammichnites, Rusophycus, Skolithos, Torrowangea and Treptichnus, as well as faecal pellets, meniscate trace fossils and others. They are abundant in shales and sandstones, and indicate important changes in the benthic conditions with respect to the underlying Torreárboles Formation. Changes in fossil assemblages within Member I of the Pedroche Formation indicate palaeoecological disruptions, which led to the disappearance of numerous archaeocyath species and the decrease of stromatolite biodiversity. This was followed by dominance of trilobite and brachiopod assemblages, accompanied by trace fossils of the Psammichnites ichnosp. A ichnoassociation. This biotic turnover (Pedroche event) occurred at the lower part of the archaeocyath Zone III, within the Bigotina bivallata biozone. The diagnoses of the ichnospecies Cochlichnus anguineus and Dactyloidites cabanasi are emended.  相似文献

A new genus Siberioklipsteinia (with the type species S. dagysi sp. nov.) and a new species Arctoarpadites nelgesensis are described from the Carnian of the Kharaulakh Range and Yana Upland (eastern Yakutia). The new data allow refinement of the taxonomy of Carnian ammonoids of northeastern Asia and emendation of some details of their geographical differentiation. The new ammonoid taxa belong to the family Arpaditidae, which was not previously recorded from the eastern Boreal Realm.  相似文献

This paper aims to evaluate potential biostratigraphic markers for the Viséan–Serpukhovian boundary in sections of Europe and Asia, to help identify the base of the global Serpukhovian Stage, which is a high priority task for Carboniferous biostratigraphy. Sections in the Serpukhovian stratotype area in the Moscow Basin contain a gap at the base of the Tarusian Regional Substage (basal in the classical Serpukhovian), so the traditional boundary defined in these sections cannot be precisely correlated with other successions worldwide. The IUGS Task Group to establish a GSSP close to the traditional Viséan–Serpukhovian boundary focused on the search for a new boundary marker, primarily on the first appearance datum (FAD) of the conodont Lochriea ziegleri in the lineage Lochriea nodosa to Lochriea ziegleri, considering it to be a suitable biostratigraphic event. The FOD (first occurrence datum) of L. ziegleri has been recognized in many successions worldwide, although only in a few sections the supposed evolutionary lineage of L. ziegleri was inferred. There are serious impediments to the FAD of L. ziegleri being universally accepted as the boundary marker. This paper presents a review of the FOD levels of L. ziegleri documented so far from multiple sections along with other correlatable markers (foraminifers and ammonoids) that can serve as additional points of reference in sections where a conodont record is poor or absent. The reviewed sections are Naqing Section (South China), Verkhnyaya Kardailovka and Kugarchi sections (South Urals, Russia), Mariinsky Log and Ladeinaya Mountain Sections (western slope of the Middle Urals, Russia), Novogurovsky Section (Moscow Basin, Russia), Vegas de Sotres Section (Cantabrian Mountains, Spain), Lugasnaghta Section (County Leitrim, Ireland), Wenne River Bank Section (Germany), and Milivojevića Kamenjar Section (Družetić, NW Serbia). We also included a compilation of data from sections of North England and southern Scotland. In this paper, we will mainly focus on newly described sections, while the discussion of most previously described sections was summarized by Nikolaeva et al. (2001, 2002, 2005, 2009b) and other publications, so they are only briefly mentioned in this review. It should be added that there is no such a thing as a perfect GSSP section, as each section has certain disadvantages, either lithological, paleontological, or both, so it is important to hear and discuss all the different opinions to develop the optimum strategy for future research. In addition, we analyze published records from several sites in North England and southern Scotland. We discuss the first appearances of the ammonoid genera Cravenoceras, Edmooroceras, Lyrogoniatites, Dombarites, and Platygoniatites, the foraminifers Neoarchaediscus postrugosus, Hemidiscopsis muradymica, H. hemisphaerica, species of Janischewskina and Monotaxinoides, Eostaffella pseudostruvei group, Eostaffellina decurta, and Endothyranopsis plana. We publish here for the first time the useful accounts of foraminifers and conodonts from the Mariinsky Log Section and Ladeinaya Mountain Section (Middle Urals, Russia), and re-figure several important type specimens from Europe and the Urals.  相似文献

A diverse marine invertebrate fauna was found in the Echij Formation (Sakmarian–Artinskian) at the Arkachan, Chelge, and Nizhnyaya Dielendzha sections, all Western Verkhoyansk Region, North-East of Russia. The biostratigraphic sequence of ammonoid, brachiopod, bivalve, and foraminiferal assemblages in the Echij Formation of the Western Verkhoyansk Region is studied. Five ammonoids units are identified in the Echian Regional Stage (“Horizon”): Uraloceras subsimense, Uraloceras omolonense, Neoshumardites triceps hyperboreus, Eotumaroceras endybalense, and Eotumaroceras subyakutorum beds. The first two divisions contain ammonoids of the Arkachanian association, and the last three contain the Endybalian association. The boundary between the Sakmarian and Artinskian stages is established at the base of Neoshumardites triceps hyperboreus beds. In the Sakmarian interval of the Echij Regional Stage of the Verkhoyansk Region, a brachiopod biostratigraphic sequence similar to that of the Kolyma–Omolon Region is observed: Jakutoproductus insignis, Jakutoproductus terechovi, and Jakutoproductus rugosus zones. In the lower part of the Artinskian stage, Uraloproductus stuckenbergianus beds are identified, which are characterized by a rich brachiopod assemblage (Peregoedov et al., 2009), not typical for Verkhoyansk Region. The bivalves, identified in the Lower Echij Subformation, presumably belong to the Merismopteria permiana, Cypricardinia eopermica, and Cypricardinia borealica zones of the Ogonerian Horizon of the Kolyma–Omolon Region. Bivalves of the Middle and Upper subformations are characteristic of the Edmondia gigantea and Aphanaia lima zones of the Koargychanian Regional Stage (“Horizon”). The foraminifera complex identified in the Echij Formation is compared with the complex of the lower part of the Sandy Foraminifera horizon of the northeast of the Siberian platform, to which the Tustakh Formation belongs. The beginning of the wide distribution of the Early Permian foraminifera in the Western Verkhoyansk Region was recorded at the base of the Artinskian. The Sakmarian–Artinskian boundary interval in the Verkhoyansk Region is characterized by three significant biotic events: the replacement of the brachiopod Jakutoproductus by Inoceramus-like bivalves, the first appearance of the Endybalian ammonoid association, and biotic invasions from the Uralian and North American regions. An important factor of the Late Sakmarian–Early Artinskian events was a large sea level rise (the Echian transgression), which significantly changed the environmental conditions for East Siberian marine invertebrates, and contributed to the spread of new faunas.  相似文献

The middle-upper part of the Formation de Beaulieu exposed in the new railroad trench at Caffiers-Ferques and the Formation de Ferques exposed in the Tartinskal quarries contain well-preserved miospore assemblages. They are here restudied in comparison with new conodont data ranging from the middle asymmeyricus to the Ancyrognathus triangularis Zone. The conodonts allow precise correlations with the type Frasnian area as well as with the Russian Platform and Timan-Pechora provinces. The miospore assemblages of the Formation d'Hydrequent are also considered and their age discussed in term of the Frasnian/Famennian boundary.In the systematic part, two new combinations are proposed: Ancyrospora lysii (Taugourdeau-Lantz, 1960) nov. comb., and Pustulatisporites rugulatus (Taugourdeau-Lantz, 1967) nov. comb.  相似文献

Intensive sampling of the Tulong Formation in South Tibet has facilitated the construction of a highly-resolved middle and late Smithian ammonoid succession. The new biostratigraphical sequence comprises the middle Smithian Brayardites compressus beds, Nammalites pilatoides beds, and the Nyalamites angustecostatus beds followed by the late Smithian Wasatchites distractus beds and Glyptophiceras sinuatum beds. This faunal succession correlates very well with that of other Tethyan sequences such as the Salt Range (Pakistan), Spiti (India), Oman and South China. The Smithian faunal sequence from Tulong contains several taxa with broad geographic distribution (e.g., Owenites, Paranannites spathi, Shigetaceras, Wasatchites), thus enabling correlation with faunal successions from areas outside the Tethys (e.g., USA, British Columbia, Arctic Canada, South Primorye, Siberia). Early Smithian ammonoid faunas are almost absent in Tulong because of a preservation bias (absence of carbonate rocks). Five new ammonoid genera (Brayardites, Nammalites, Nyalamites, Shigetaceras, Tulongites) and six new species (Brayardites crassus, Brayardites compressus, Prionites involutus, ?Subflemingites compressus, Tulongites xiaoqiaoi, Urdyceras tulongensis) are described.  相似文献
