Pollen grain morphology, sculpturing, and wall ultrastructure are investigated in two species ofCoris (Primulaceae),C. monspeliensis L. andC. hispanica Lange. The study includes both acetolysed and unacetolysed pollen. No evidence of any major palynological difference is recorded between these two species, apart from a somewhat larger pollen inC. monspeliensis. However,Coris can be distinguished from the remaining members of thePrimulaceae by the conjunction of relatively large pollen grains, prominent margo, and particular tectal pattern causing a reticulate surface with minute luminal perforations decreasing towards the colpi. From both these distinctive features, and others typically primulaceous, some evolutionary considerations are inferred. Finally, the higher proportion of irregular grains inC. hispanica is interpreted in light of environmental stress.  相似文献

Dioecy has evolved independently several times in the large, mostly tropical genusSolanum. In all cases of dioecy inSolanum functionally male flowers have normal anthers, normal pollen and reduced stigmas while functionally female flowers have stigmas and anthers that appear normal but contain non-functional, usually inaperturate pollen. The inaperturate pollen has living cytoplasm, but apparently never germinates and it has been hypothesised that the pollen in these functionally female flowers is retained as a pollinator reward. Pollen morphology is compared in twelve of the thirteen known dioecious species ofSolanum, and some stages in the the development of inaperturate pollen in the anthers of functionally female flowers ofSolanum confertiseriatum of Western Ecuador are examined. Observations on the development and morphology of inaperturate pollen in functionally female flowers ofSolanum are related to hypotheses about the evolution of dioecy in the genus.  相似文献

A complete in vitro plant regeneration systemvia adventitious shoot-bud formation from seedlinghypocotyls of adzukibean was developed. Cotyledonarynode (CN) and root explants from 4-d-old invitro-germinated seedlings of 4 cultivars werecultured on agar-solidified R medium consisting of MSsalts, B5 vitamins, 3.0% (w/v) sucrose and 4.4 µM6-benzyladenine (BA). Shoot buds arose adventitiouslyat the basipetal cut of the hypocotyl in 40 to 85%of type 1 CN (8–10 mm) explants 6 weeks later with cvsBansei aki azuki and Tanbadainagon azuki exhibitingsignificantly higher response. Shorter type 2 (4–5 mm) CN explants responded poorly (0–6%) in culturewhile intact roots were regenerative but at lowerfrequencies (5 to 31%). In cv Bansei aki azuki,optimum shoot initiation (78.7%) was achieved whentype 1 CN explants from BA-preconditioned seedlingswere re-cultured in R medium (SC0). BA supplied at8.8 µM during SC0 significantly reduced the shootinitiation response to 46.7%. In the same manner,substituting equimolar concentration (4.4 µM) ofkinetin (KN), zeatin (Z) or thidiazuron (TDZ) to BAduring SC0 yielded no or significantly lowerresponses. Mean shoot production ranged from 6.2 to9.8 shoots per explant 6 weeks after subculture (SC1)and varied significantly among the 4 cultivars used. Efficient rooting (93–96%) was achieved on excisedshoots transferred to MS salts + B5 vitamins basalmedium alone. The tissue culture system covered only16 weeks to completion. Regenerated plantlets weretransferred to soil with 86–100% survival rate andall surviving plants were morphologically normal andseed-fertile.  相似文献

The pollen wall ultrastructure of the primitive AngiospermLactoris fernandeziana Phil. (Lactoridaceae) is described. The monosulcate aperture, granular wall structure and sacci (all primitive features) suggest placement of this family in theMagnoliales. Pollen ofLactoris is compared to fossil dispersed pollen from the Lower and lower-Upper Cretaceous. The fossil pollen shares characteristics which are restricted to theLactoridaceae suggesting that this family was present during the early Cretaceous.  相似文献

The neotropical subtribe Cuspariinae (Rutaceae) comprises as many as 26 genera and over 125 species. Pollen grains from 111 collections representing 71 species and 24 genera were examined by LM, SEM, and TEM. The pollen morphology of this subtribe is very diverse. Grains are mostly 3–6-aperturate and colporate, rarely porate (Spiranthera) or pantocolporate (Almeidea). Exine sculpturing is most commonly reticulate, sometimes perforate, foveolate-perforate, foveolate, foveolate-reticulate, reticulate, striate-reticulate, echinate, clavate, or baculate. The exine structure is columellate and tectate-perforate, columellate and semitectate, or intectate and is stratified into ektexine and endexine. The exine ofLeptothyrsa is distinctive in that the ektexine of the mesocolpium is longitudinally deeply ridged. The pollen ofHortia, characterized by a psilate exine with rare perforations, a very thick foot-layer, and reduced columellae, is unlike that of any member of the Cuspariinae and offers no support for the transfer of this genus from the Toddalioideae. The pollen data correlate with macromorphological characters and are taxonomically useful.  相似文献

A genetic linkage map of azuki bean (Vigna angularis) was constructed with molecular and morphological markers using an F2 population of an interspecific cross between azuki bean and its wild relative, V. nakashimae. In total, 132 markers (108 RAPD, 19 RFLP and five morphological markers) were mapped in 14 linkage groups covering 1250 cM; ten remained unlinked. The clusters of markers showing distorted segregation were found in linkage groups 2, 8 and 12. By comparing the azuki linkage map with those of mungbean and cowpea, using 20 RFLP common markers, some sets of the markers were found to belong to the same linkage groups of the respective maps, indicating that these linkage blocks are conserved among the three Vigna species. This map provides a tool for markerassisted selection and for studies of genome organization in Vigna species.  相似文献

Seedling morphology was studied in 22 species ofLespedeza, of which six belong to subgenusMacroles-pedeza and 16 to subgenusLespedeza. Two seedling types were recognized: 1) those with opposite leaves at the first node; 2) those having the first and subsequent leaves alternate. The two types are distinguished in the number of leaf primordia in the plumule of the seed: the opposite type has two leaf primordia, but the alternate type has only one primordium. Most species exhibited one of the two types, but rarely both types were observed in several species. In species having two types, one type always far outnumbers the other. The opposite type was common in Asian species, while the alternate type was common in North American ones. Because seedlings are of the opposite type inKummerowia which is the most closely related genus withLespdeza, the alternate type is considered to be apomorphic inLespedeza. The apomorphic seedling morphology is, there-fore, dominantly occurred in North American species ofLespedeza. This fact may be an evidence which suggests a monophyletic origin for North American species from an Asian ancesfor.  相似文献

The Dimorphandra group, as traditionally circumscribed, is a rather diverse assemblage of genera in Leguminosae subfamily Caesalpinioideae that share certain morphological characteristics with the basally branching lineages of subfamily Mimosoideae. It currently comprises 51 species in seven genera: Burkea (1 species), Dimorphandra (26 species), Erythrophleum (10 species), Mora (6 species), Pachyelasma (1 species), Stachyothyrsus (2 species) and Sympetalandra (5 species). This study investigates the pollen morphology of 25 samples from 19 species of all seven genera. Pollen of the Dimorphandra group is small, isopolar, trizonocolporate and released in monads. Apertures are almost equal to polar length, with correspondingly small apocolpial areas. The shape of the aperture apices varies from acute to wide and rounded. Surface ornamentation is psilate, perforate, microreticulate, or perforate‐rugulate. The wall structure is usually columellate with a well developed foot layer. The pollen is small and unspecialised, agreeing with a previously noted pattern of more fixed and homogenous pollen structure in the more derived clades in subfamily Caesalpinioideae, compared with the great diversity of pollen types found in the basally branching lineages.  相似文献

Pollen transport to a receptive stigma can be facilitated through different pollinators, which submits the pollen to different selection pressures. This study aimed to associate pollen and stigma morphology with zoophily in species of the tribe Phaseoleae. Species of the genera Erythrina, Macroptilium and Mucuna with different pollinators were chosen. Pollen grains and stigmas were examined under light microscopy (anatomy), scanning electronic microscopy (surface analyses) and transmission electronic microscopy (ultrastructure). The three genera differ in terms of pollen wall ornamentation, pollen size, pollen aperture, thickness of the pollen wall, amount of pollenkitt, pollen hydration status and dominant reserves within the pollen grain, while species within each genus are very similar in most studied characteristics. Most of these features lack relationships to pollinator type, especially in Erythrina and Mucuna. Pollen reserves are discussed on a broad scale, according to the occurrence of protein in the pollen of invertebrate- or vertebrate-pollinated species. Some pollen characteristics are more associated to semi-dry stigma requirements. This apical, compact, cuticularised and secretory stigma occurs in all species investigated. We conclude that data on pollen and stigma structure should be included together with those on floral morphology and pollinator behaviour for the establishment of functional pollination classes.  相似文献

为深入研究绣球属植物花粉形态的分类学价值和系统学意义,厘清绣球属与近缘属之间的系统发育关系,该文利用扫描电子显微镜(SEM,scanning electron microscope)对国产绣球属及其近缘属41种绣球花科(Hydrangeaceae)植物的花粉形态以及表面纹饰进行了观察。结果表明:绣球属及其近缘属的花粉为三孔沟;形状多数为长圆体形或近球体形;赤道面观为椭圆形或圆形;极面观多为圆形,少数为三角形或圆三角形。花粉外壁纹饰可分为网状和孔穴状。网眼内的三级纹饰可分为光滑和具颗粒状突起。根据花粉形状和外壁纹饰类型将上述物种划分为4个组,即花粉的形状为长圆体形,表面纹饰为孔穴纹饰;花粉的形状为长圆体形,表面纹饰为网状纹饰;花粉的形状为近球体形,表面纹饰为孔穴纹饰;花粉的形状为近球体形,表面纹饰为网状纹饰。以上可进一步细分为8个类型。上述表明花粉形态证据可为绣球属及其近缘属的属下分类和种间界定提供重要佐证;但结合前人的系统发育重建分析该属植物花粉形态的系统学意义相对有限,如花粉形态证据对于该属及其近缘种属系统发育树上大支的界定难以提供有力的证据。  相似文献

The pollen morphology of all 23 Japanese species ofSymplocos (1 of subgenusEusymplocos, and 22 of subgenusHopea) was comprehensively studied using LM, SEM and TEM, and found to be classifiable into two types (Type I and II) primarily on the basis of wall structure. Type I, characterized by a thick tectum lacking a supratectal structure and reduced columellae, occurs in subgenusEusymplocos, while Type II, characterized by a thin tectum with a supratectal structure and generally distinct columellae, occurs in subgenusHopea. Resemblances in wall structure suggest a closer relationship of subgenusEusymplocos to subgenusMicrosymplocos as well as of subgenusHopea to subgenusEpigenia. This fact contradicts the earlier proposed infrageneric classification, and may require its revision. Within Type II, five subtypes are recognized primarily on the basis of sculpture combined with other pollen characters. Systematic value of sculpture (i.e., subtype), aperture morphology and “globules”, as well as certain species relationships based on those characters, are also discussed.  相似文献

The pollen of 30 taxa (27 species, one subspecies and two varieties) in two genera, viz Polygonum s. str. and Polygonella was investigated with LM and SEM, and some selected taxa with TEM. In all genera investigated the pollen is prolate to spheroidal, and the aperture is mostly tricolporate, rarely panto-hexacolporate (especially Polygonum section Polygonum). The exine sculpturing pattern is the most variable feature. Three types of exine can be recognized. Type 1 (Avicularia-Type, sensu Hedberg) - All species of section Polygonum and section Tephis share the smooth tectate exine with spinules, sometimes the surface is more or less rough (Polygonum afromontanum in section Tephis). Type 2 (Pseudomollia-Type, sensu Hong) - Pollen of Polygonum molliaeforme (section Pseudomollia) has the exine, which is verrucose on both poles and nearby the mesocolpium, and mostly psilate around the ectoaperture. Type 3 (Duravia-Type, sensu Hedberg) - Pollen grains of Polygonum section Duravia and Polygonella have the exine which is semitectate-reticulate at the mesocolpium and the poles, and rugulate/reticulate or sometimes foveolate with microspinules around the ectoapertures. The pollen grains in four taxa (viz Polygonum section Pseudomollia, P. section Duravia and genus Polygonella) have a well-marked dimorphism of the ektexine, which is considered to be a synapomorphic condition. The differences of pollen grain between the genus Polygonella and Polygonum section Duravia are almost non existent and clearly interrelated. It is therefore postulated that the similarity in pollen of both taxa is not the result of convergency, but is interpreted as a homology. It is noteworthy that the pollen of Polygonum molliaeforme (section Pseudomollia) appears as intermediate between the Avicularia-type and the Duravia-type, and is well supported the value of separated section for its own. Additionally, in TEM, some exine ultrastructures (e.g. columellae, foot layer, endexine) appear to be valuable characters for comparison between/among taxa. The systematic potentialities of the pollen data of the studied taxa at various systematic levels are also discussed.  相似文献

Four types of floral breeding systems—(i) chasmogamy, (ii) aerial pseudocleistogamy, (iii) subterranean pseudocleistogamy and (iv) obligate subterranean true cleistogamy—are observed in the populations ofVigna minima inhabiting the Western Ghats (India). Five categories of phenotypes are recognized based on the number and kinds of floral breeding systems found in a given individual. The frequencies of different categories of phenotypes not only show intra- and interpopulation variation, but also fluctuate from generation to generation suggesting differences in the genetic structure of populations. This polymorphism in the breeding system of a single species is unique and may be adaptive. Obligate subterranean true cleistogamy and amphicarpy appear to be adaptations to jungle fires and soil erosion.—The flowers are of the flag-blossom type and insect visitors act as tripping agents. The tripping mechanism together with the polymorphic floral breeding system result in a balanced mixture of selfing and outcrossing. Such a recombination system may enhance the fitness ofV. minima which is essentially a colonizing species.  相似文献

Summary. The cellular structures of statocytes implicated in gravisensing in primary and lateral roots of Vigna angularis were compared. The statocytes of lateral roots already had small amyloplasts immediately after they emerged from the primary root. Although these amyloplasts sedimented, the lateral roots showed much weaker gravitropism than primary roots, at least until they reached a length of about 30 mm. The nuclei were usually positioned in the upper end of the statocytes in both types of roots. Electron microscopic surveys showed that many tubular elements of endoplasmic reticulum (ER) were frequently localized in the lower end of the statocyte and they sometimes diverged or curved, suggesting that the ER forms a large reticulate complex. It is worth noting that statocytes with a large ER complex were found much more frequently in primary roots than in lateral roots. The amyloplasts were not always settled on this complex but were very frequently under it, especially in the primary roots. In lateral roots, they were usually localized under the ER complex when they were present. Thus, it is suggested that the differential development and organization of the amyloplast-ER complex system is involved in the differential gravitropism of the two types of roots. Effect of carbofuran on the growth, nodulation, phytomass, chlorophyll and carotene ofVigna radiata Roxb., was studied. Out of different concentrations of carbofuranviz., 0, 5, 10, 25, 50 and 100 ppm, the concentration of 5 ppm carbofuran revealed no toxic effect, instead the growth, number of nodules, phytomass and chlorophyll were increased in comparison to control. However, 10, 25 and 50 ppm carbofuran proved to be toxic. The plants showed inhibition of growth. While 100 ppm of carbofuran was found to be fatal for the growth of plants.  相似文献

Summary The primary leaf, epicotyl, and root cells ofVigna sinensis seedlings grown continuously in a 0.08% colchicine solution, become microtubule-free and polyploid. In meristematic root cells a tubulin transformation is detected 1–3 h after the treatment had begun. Tubulin strands are organized at the positions of the pre-existing microtubules. Frequently, the strands converge on or are organized in the cortical cytoplasmic zone where in normal cells the preprophase microtubule band (PMB) is assembled. In meristematic root cells subjected to a 6–12 h colchicine treatment, the tubulin strands become perinuclear, entering the cortical cytoplasm at regions close to the nucleus. One day after the onset of the treatment, tubulin generally forms a continuous reticulum of interconnected strands in all the organs examined. In most cells this reticulum surrounds the nucleus partly or totally or lies close to it, exhibiting variable configurations in different cells. After prolonged treatments, the organization of the tubulin reticulum changes further. Now this consists of crystal-like structures interconnected by thin strands.On thin sections of fixed tissue the tubulin strands consist of paracrystalline material. The distribution of this material in the affected cells coincides with that of tubulin reticulum visualized by immunofluorescence. In transverse planes each strand exhibits circular subunits arranged close to one another in a hexagonal pattern but in longitudinal ones variable images were observed. The paracrystalline material persists in root cells subjected to an 8-day continuous colchicine treatment. The immunolabeled strands seem to be composed of tubulin-colchicine complexes and not pure tubulin.  相似文献

三倍体丹参是以二倍体丹参为父本、人工染色体加倍的四倍体白花丹参为母本杂交选育的杂交种。为深入了解三倍体丹参花粉的特性,以及为三倍体种质利用提供孢粉学依据,该文以二倍体丹参为对照,研究了三倍体丹参杂交种花粉的形态变异规律。利用光学显微镜和扫描电镜对二倍体和三倍体丹参的花粉萌发沟、外壁纹饰、花粉粒形状等特征进行了显微和超微形态观察,综合进行了花粉形态差异比较,并对花粉大小和形状数据进行了差异显著性分析和正态检验。结果表明:(1)二倍体丹参为6沟花粉,三倍体花粉萌发沟有6沟和8沟两种类型,沟内疣状颗粒分布不匀,出现畸形萌发沟。(2)二倍体和三倍体花粉外壁均为网状雕纹。二倍体花粉网眼内具多个多边形穿孔,穿孔大; 6沟和8沟两种类型的三倍体花粉网眼无穿孔或仅有几个小穿孔,6沟和8沟花粉的外壁雕纹相同。(3)三倍体花粉的极轴长(P)和赤道宽(E)均值显著小于二倍体花粉,花粉大小呈偏正态分布,P*E的差异系数大于二倍体花粉,且有极值存在。三倍体和二倍体丹参的萌发沟和雕纹存在差异,而花粉形状差异不显著。综上结果表明三倍体丹参花粉在倍性效应和杂合性的双重影响下发生了形态变异,且有多种形态变化。  相似文献
