1. We studied the effect of host abundance on parasite abundance and prevalence using data on 57 associations of fleas (Siphonaptera) and their mammalian hosts from Slovakia. 2. We assumed that flea-induced host mortality could be inferred from the relationship between flea aggregation and flea abundance, whereas host-induced flea mortality could be inferred from the relationship between flea abundance or aggregation and host abundance. 3. Relationships between flea abundance or prevalence and host abundance were either negative (in 23 flea-host associations) or absent (in 34 flea-host associations). Negative relationships between flea abundance and host abundance were always accompanied by negative relationships between flea prevalence and host abundance. 4. The link between flea abundance/prevalence and host abundance was evaluated as the coefficient of determination of the respective regressions. Across flea-host associations, this link decreased with an increase in the degree of flea aggregation (measured as a parameter b of Taylor's power law). 5. Mean crowding of fleas decreased with an increase of host abundance in eight flea-host associations, being asymptotic in four of them. On the other hand, mean crowding of fleas increased with an increase in flea abundance in 49 flea-host associations, being asymptotic in 15 of them. 6. Results of this study suggest that different flea-host associations are governed by different regulating mechanisms, but different regulation mechanisms may act simultaneously within the same flea-host associations.  相似文献

  • 1 The golden jackal Canis aureus is one of the most widespread canid species with a range covering areas of central, eastern and southern Europe, northern Africa and parts of Asia. Distribution of the golden jackal in Europe has been dynamic, including dramatic declines (until the 1960s), recovery (1960s and 1970s) and expansion (from the early 1980s onwards).
  • 2 We present up‐to‐date information on golden jackal status in Europe and range expansion.
  • 3 For data collection we reviewed the scientific literature and contacted scientists from the relevant countries. We distinguished between vagrant animals and established populations.
  • 4 In the last decade, there has been an increase in jackal records in areas where the species has not been reported before. Increased presence is recorded northwards and westwards of the distribution range of the golden jackal, specifically in Hungary, Serbia and Slovakia. In Austria, the first case of reproduction was confirmed in 2007; reproduction has also recently been reported in Italy.
  • 5 Results indicate an ongoing expansion in Europe's jackal population, with a particular spread of the Balkan populations towards central Europe. Although there are numerous reports of sightings, only few originate from confirmed sources and in many areas status is unknown or vague. There is a general lack of ecological data and almost no information on ecological consequences associated with the golden jackal expansion.

物种多度格局分析对理解群落结构具有重要意义。采用分割线段模型对北京西山静福寺地区鸟类群落物种数量关系进行拟合研究,并运用秩相关性分析对模型进行相关系数检验,结果表明:(1)该地区鸟类群落多度格局模型与分割线段模型显著相关,利用分割线段模型可以良好的拟合该地区鸟类群落多度格局;(2)鸟类多度分布格局具有时间和空间的双重属性;(3)月尺度上,1月与其他月份差异显著,森林群落间差异不显著;(4)季尺度上,冬季与春、秋两季差异显著,落叶阔叶林与针阔混交林差异显著,针叶林与落叶阔叶林、针阔混交林差异都不显著;(5)年尺度上,年变化差异不显著。  相似文献

调查了云南省4种植被下土壤真菌总数、木霉数量及种类分布特点.森林土壤中木霉相对数量约占土壤真菌总数的3~15%,并随不同样地、采样季节及土层而异,优势种类因不同林型土壤而异.钩状木霉分布广泛,尤其在热带雨林的土壤生境中占优势.哈茨木霉和黄绿木霉则分别在季风和半湿润常绿阔叶林土壤中出现频率较高.  相似文献

查找出蜜蜂基因组中由1~6个碱基重复单元组成的简单序列重复,分析蜜蜂基因组中微卫星的分布频率,并比较其在各染色体中的分布频率。微卫星在蜜蜂基因组中的分布频率为1/0·804kb,其中二碱基重复序列占26·86%,是最丰富的重复单元,而六、一、三、四、五碱基重复单元序列分别占24·74%,22·19%,13·65%,10·98%,2·59%。同时发现富含A和T碱基的微卫星占主导地位,富含G和C碱基的微卫星数量较少。第4,1,3条染色体微卫星分布频率较高,而第11,14,12条染色体微卫星分布频率较低。  相似文献

To help identify fishery management actions that minimize the adverse impacts of fishing activities on corals in Alaska, the distribution and abundance of corals were analyzed based on trawl survey data collected during 1975–1998. We also examined the species of commercially managed fish that are associated with coral. Soft corals, primarily Gersemia sp. (=Eunephthya sp.), were the most frequently encountered corals in the Bering Sea. In the Aleutian Islands gorgonian corals, primarily in the genera Callogorgia, Primnoa, Paragorgia, Thouarella, and Arthrogorgia were the most common corals. In the Gulf of Alaska, gorgonian corals, primarily in the genera Callogorgia and Primnoa, and cup corals, primarily `Scleractinia unidentified', occurred most frequently. The Aleutian Islands area appears to have the highest abundance and diversity of corals. Some fish groups are associated with particular types of coral. Rockfish (Sebastes spp. and Sebastolobus alascanus) and Atka mackerel (Pleurogrammus monopterygius) were the most common fish captured with gorgonian, cup, and hydrocorals, whereas flatfish and gadids were the most common fish captured with soft corals.  相似文献

通过对地处南亚热带的广东省黑石顶自然保护区森林群落的定点研究结果的分析表明:当用1,2,3,…分组每种个体数r时,5个不同类型的群落样地的种一多度分布的直方图都呈明显的倒J-形;经Preston“倍程(octaves)”法分组r后,其种-多度都服从对数正态分布。由种-多度模型可以推出另一新的模型一个体一多度分布模型,即I(R)=2R0SOEXP[[1n2)2/4a2〕EXP{-a2(R-(RO+1n2/2a2)]2},它也符合对数正态分布。另外,还运用积分方法推导出估计总体(整个群落)中总种数S*和总个体数I*理论值的公式,用此公式估计的结果较为合理。  相似文献

根据2007年披山岛海区春季和夏季2个季度浮游动物调查资料,分析和研究了浙江省玉环县披山岛海区浮游动物种类组成和数量分布特点.结果表明:浮游动物共有18种,属3门12属,其中桡足类的种类最多,占总种数的72.22%;主要优势种为中华哲水蚤(Calanus sinicus)、瘦拟哲水蚤(Paracalanus gracilis)、针刺拟哲水蚤(Paracalanus aculeatus)和红小毛猛水蚤(Microsetella rosea).浮游动物的平均丰度及生物量均为春季比夏季高,春季的平均丰度为6.55×103个/m3,夏季为6.13×103个/m3;春季的平均生物量为216.49 mg/m3,夏季为98.26 mg/m3.桡足类的生物量占浮游动物总量的75.97%~97.55%,是决定披山岛浮游动物数量分布和变动的主要成分.与历史资料和邻近海域相比较,披山岛海区生物量与其接近或大于东海各海域.春、夏两季生物多样性(H′)有显著性差异(P<0.05),春季具有较高的生物多样性,且远海的生物多样性大于近海.  相似文献

青岛湾小型底栖生物周年数量分布与沉积环境   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
2006年6月至2007年5月对青岛湾潮间带泥沙质和沙质沉积物中的小型底栖生物及环境因子进行了周年逐月采样。研究发现, 小型底栖生物在两个底质中的数量和分布上差异极大, 泥沙质中的年平均丰度高达(4853±1292) 个/10 cm2, 沙质中为(1528±569) 个/10 cm2, 生物量则分别为(3186.9±1993.4) μg干重/10 cm2和(1601.5±786.2) μg干重/10 cm2。在季节相上, 小型底栖生物丰度在沙质底呈双峰模式 (高值出现在6、12月份, 低值出现在3、9月份); 泥沙质中最高值出现在6月份, 最低值出现在11月份。在0-8 cm 深沉积物中, 48%的小型底栖生物集中于0-0.5 cm 表层, 分布在0-4 cm的逾86%。共发现13个主要类群, 线虫在丰度上占绝对优势(泥沙质中为95%, 沙质中为66%), 其它较优势类群在泥沙质依次为多毛类 (2%)、甲壳类幼体 (2%) 和桡足类 (1%); 沙质底则依次为甲壳类幼体 (13%)、腹毛类 (8%) 和桡足类 (6%)。泥沙质中线虫在生物量上的贡献达58%, 而在沙质中其所占生物量 (25%) 低于腹毛类 (28%)。聚类分析表明, 泥沙质和沙质沉积环境间的相似度为87%, 生物丰度组成间的相似度为71%; BIOENV分析表明, 温度、盐度、粒度及粘土粉砂含量的组合最能解释月份和站位间的差异 (r=0.614)。结合历史资料的对比研究表明, 青岛湾近海的沙质环境状况已有明显改观, 但泥沙质的污染状况仍然堪忧, 这由小型底栖生物的高丰度值、相较耐污的线虫所占的极高比例以及线虫与桡足类丰度的高比值即可看出。  相似文献

Abstract:  Differences in spatial distribution and abundance of bud galls caused by eriophyoid mites (Acari: Eriophyoidea) among Carpinus tschonoskii (Betulaceae) were studied. This mite preferentially induces galls on terminal buds. Four factors influencing gall abundance were examined: host tree size, host tree's reproductive status, altitude and study site. As tree size increased, the number of galls increased to an apparent asymptote. This result suggests that tree size-dependent characteristics such as number of terminal buds, temporal pattern of shoot elongation and reproductive status influence gall abundance.  相似文献

近 10年来 ,分布区已成为宏观生态学的一个重要概念 ,分布区不仅与物种绝灭、生态入侵、生态位幅度密切相关 ,而且还与地方种群密度以及物种多样性的纬度梯度有关。本文总结了近年来物种分布区研究的一些重要进展。研究表明 :1)物种的地理分布与地方种群密度呈正相关是具有普遍意义的生物地理现象 ,但这一关系受到物种的历史、物种的迁移特性和取样大小等因素的影响 ;2 )尽管物种分布区大小的纬度梯度———Rapoport规律有时并不成立 ,但依然具有重要的生物地理学意义 ,并被推广到山体海拔梯度和海洋深度梯度 ;3)分布区大小、地方种群密度、物种绝灭、生态位幅度、物种多样性的纬度梯度以及Rapoport规律是彼此相关和相互影响的 ,简单的正相关或者负相关不能描述彼此间真实的关系 ;4 )如何从理论上解释地理分布与地方种群的关系、Rapoport规律以及物种多样性的纬度梯度是目前生物地理学争论的焦点。  相似文献

Due to an abundance and diversity of vultures, Nepal is one of the most important countries for vulture conservation. Within Nepal, the Pokhara Valley is especially significant. We examine the distribution of vultures within the Pokhara Valley by conducting counts at 11 potential feeding or roosting sites using point count method. We further surveyed people of the valley regarding their perception of vulture ecology and conservation, knowledge of diclofenac use within the valley, and burial of livestock carcasses. We detected eight species of vultures, four of which are currently threatened with extinction. White‐rumped vulture Gyps bengalensis, Egyptian vulture Nephron percnopterus, and Himalayan vulture G. himalayensis were the most abundant. Almost all respondents (98%) had sighted the vultures in the wild. Formally educated respondents reported seeing vultures’ slightly more than nonformally educated respondents. Fifty‐eight percent respondents suspected habitat loss was the major threat for the vulture population decline in Pokhara Valley, and 97% respondents were not aware of any diclofenac use. The knowledge of vultures in people with different age groups suggests a more awareness programs are needed for local people, especially those who carry out animal husbandry and provide livestock to the vulture restaurant.  相似文献

Densities of Corixidae (Hemiptera), larval Odonata, and large larval Trichoptera were estimated in the littoral zone of small lakes in an acid-stressed area near Sudbury, Ontario. Fish were present in some lakes and absent in others, and fishless lakes occurred across a wide range of pH. Corixidae were significantly more abundant in lakes without fish than in lakes with fish, and their numbers were not related to the pH of fishless lakes. Anisoptera (Odonata) larvae tended to be more numerous in benthic samples from fishless lakes than from lakes with fish, and their exuviae were significantly more abundant around fishless lakes. In most lakes, the assemblage was dominated by three species; Leucorrhinia glacialis, Libellula julia, and Cordulia shurtleffi. In lakes containing white sucker, Catostomus commersoni, Gomphus spp. were most numerous. In the most acid fishless lakes, L. julia was uncommon, and L. glacialis was extremely abundant. In fishless lakes, numbers of Anisoptera larvae and exuviae were negatively correlated with pH, though species richness was positively correlated with pH. Exuviae of Zygoptera (Odonata) were more abundant around fishless lakes, irrespective of pH. Larvae of Limnephilus (Trichoptera) were most abundant in non-acid fishless lakes, and absent at pH<5.2. Abundances of Banksiola (Trichoptera) were negatively correlated with the pH of fishless lakes.  相似文献

Methylocella spp. are facultative methanotrophs, which are able to grow not only on methane but also on multicarbon substrates such as acetate, pyruvate or malate. Methylocella spp. were previously thought to be restricted to acidic soils such as peatlands, in which they may have a key role in methane oxidation. There is little information on the abundance and distribution of Methylocella spp. in the environment. New primers were designed, and a real-time quantitative PCR method was developed and validated targeting Methylocella mmoX (encoding the α-subunit of the soluble methane monooxygenase) that allowed the quantification of Methylocella spp. in environmental samples. We also developed and validated specific PCR assays, which target 16S rRNA genes of known Methylocella spp. These were used to investigate the distribution of Methylocella spp. in a variety of environmental samples. It was revealed that Methylocella species are widely distributed in nature and not restricted to acidic environments.  相似文献

The present study analyzed the pattern of temporal distribution of planktonic copepods in a recently formed reservoir and investigated whether there were differences in the predominance of species. The animals were collected at six stations in the limnetic zone of the central body and lateral arms of the reservoir with a motorized pump at different depths, from December 1996 through November 1998. Three species of Cyclopidae (Thermocyclops decipiens, Thermocyclops minutus and Mesocyclops longisetus) and one species of Diaptomidae (Notodiaptomus iheringi) were recorded. Adults and young, mainly nauplii, of the cyclopoids were predominant during the entire study period. Calanoids became numerically important after the third month following reservoir formation, in some months becoming approximately as abundant as the cyclopoids. There was succession in the abundance of the species, with T. decipiens predominating in the first six months, N. iheringi at the end of the first year, and T. minutus at the beginning of the second year. The differences in water level in the dry and rainy seasons and the operation of the reservoir affected the dynamics of certain copepod species.  相似文献

The vertical distribution and seasonal abundance of the copepodite and adult stages of Calanus finmarchicus, C. helgolandicus, C. tenuicornis, Neocalanus gracilis, Nannocalanus minor and Calanoides carinatus from a series of Longhurst Hardy Plankton Recorder hauls taken in the oceanic waters, off the continental shelf, to the south-west of the British Isles are described. The sampling area was selected because the geographical distributions of the major Calanidae copepods of the north-east Atlantic Ocean are shown to overlap in this region. It marks the southern boundary of the distribution of C. finmarchicus, the central area of C. helgolandicus and the approximate northern limit of distribution of C. tenuicornis, N. gracilis, N. minor and C. carinatus. These four southern species occasionally penetrate further north (60° N) in the open ocean but do not breed at these northern latitudes. In autumn and winter, when C. finmarchicus and C. helgolandicus were overwintering below 400 m primarily as Stage V copepodites, N. gracilis occurred in the upper 200 m of the water column in a breeding condition; all copepodite stages were present. This copepod reproduced throughout the year in this regions while C. tenuicornis was observed to breed primarily in spring and summer. The geographical and vertical distributions of the Calanidae are related to the observed seasonal temperatures of the North Atlantic and the breeding strategies of species are compared.  相似文献

The species composition and assemblage structure of the ichthyoplankton from the Mar Menor Lagoon in south‐east Spain are given. The fish larvae were sorted from zooplankton samples collected at 20 stations with a plankton net (50 cm mouth diameter and 500 μm mesh) during 36 surveys between February and December 1997. A total of 39 575 fish larvae representing 14 families, 22 genera and 36 species were identified. Gobiidae was the most dominant family (77·0%) followed by Blenniidae (19·4%) and Atherinidae (1·3%). The most abundant species were Gobius niger and Gobius paganellus , which accounted for 42·7 and 19·3% of the total respectively. These species were followed in order of relative abundance by Pomatoschistus marmoratus (13·9%), Parablennius pilicornis (9·4%), Lipophrys pavo (7·7%), Atherina boyeri (1·3%) and Parablennius tentacularis (1·3%). The high species diversity (2·0–2·8 bits individual−1 for the annual diversity spectra at each sampling station) reflected a diverse assemblage of species. The main commercial species in the lagoon (Sparidae and Mugilidae) were poorly represented among the ichthyoplankton and they probably enter the lagoon on the bottom as recruits. Chlorophyll a concentration in the water column was the main factor explaining the seasonal variation in larval abundance. Spatial distribution of larvae was related to hydrographical circulation patterns in the lagoon and the movement of marine‐spawned larvae through the channels connecting the lagoon with the Mediterranean Sea.  相似文献
