Conidia of Isaria fumosorosea were submitted to three regimes of temperature and moisture to simulate microclimatic conditions which prevail in temperate (43% RH and 28 °C to 98% RH and 15 °C), subtropical (75% RH and 35 °C to 98% RH and 25 °C), and arid areas (13% RH and 40 °C to 33% RH and 15 °C) with daily fluctuating cycles. Germination, conidial viability, and virulence to Spodoptera frugiperda larvae were less affected after 20 days exposure under temperate cycling conditions than under arid and subtropical conditions. Exposure of conidia for 20 days to constant nocturnal simulated conditions of any tested regime weakly affected conidial persistence, whereas diurnal conditions exerted the most detrimental effects of high temperatures. However, when tested at both 45 °C and 50 °C at 33% RH for 160 h, the persistence of I. fumosorosea conidia was relatively higher than expected. These results emphasize that climatic conditions prevailing in environments and ecological fitness of fungal isolates have to be taken into account for assessing microbial control strategies.  相似文献

Regenerated films were successfully prepared from cellulose/NaOH/urea solution by coagulating with water at temperature from 25 to 45 °C. The results of solid 13C NMR, wide angle X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and tensile testing revealed that the cellulose films possessed homogeneous structure and cellulose II crystalline, similar to that prepared previously by coagulating with 5 wt% H2SO4. By changing the coagulation temperature from 25 to 45 °C, tensile strength of the films was in the range of 85-139 MPa. Interestingly, the RC35 film coagulated at 35 °C exhibited the highest tensile strength (σb = 139 MPa). The inclusion complex associated with cellulose, NaOH and urea hydrates in the cellulose solution were broken by adding water (non-solvent), leading to the self-association of cellulose to regenerate through rearrangement of the hydrogen bonds. This work provided low-cost and “green” pathway to prepare cellulose films, which is important in industry.  相似文献

The experiment was conducted to determine the protein requirement of Cirrhinus mrigala fry at three different water temperatures, 28, 30 and 32 °C, and to investigate the influence of dietary protein levels and water temperatures on weight gain, body composition, food and nutrient utilization. The 36% protein concentration in the diet yielded highest weight gain at all temperatures from 28 to 32 °C. However, daily protein intake was lower at 28 °C than at 30 and 32 °C. The diet with 36% dietary protein and 32.17% carbohydrate produced the best weight gain and gross conversion efficiency (GCE) at 30 °C. The protein-sparing effect was observed at temperatures 30 and 32 °C in diets 1 and 2, having carbohydrate levels 37.36–44.91%. Highest protein efficiency ratio (PER) was recorded at 28% dietary protein level, while it was lowest at 40% dietary protein level in all three temperatures. Lipid in the body of fishes increased at the end of the experiment in comparison to the initial body lipid. The body protein was found to be related to daily protein intake at 30 and 32 °C. Significant difference (P<0.05) was also noted between temperatures, the hepatosomatic index (HSI) and viscerosomatic index (VSI). The diet with 36% dietary protein and 32.17% carbohydrate was observed to be the best diet for C. mrigala fry at 28–32 °C.  相似文献

Halogeton glomeratus (M. Bieb.) C.A. Mey., Lepidium latifolium Linn. and Peganum harmala Linn. are distributed in temperate salt playa habitats of Upper Hunza, Pakistan. Seeds were germinated under various salinity (0–500 mM NaCl), light (12 h-light:12 h-dark and 24 h-dark) and temperature (5/15, 10/20, 15/25, 20/30, and 25/35 °C, dark/light) regimes for 20 days to determine the optimal conditions for germination and recovery of seeds from these factors when exposed to less than optimal conditions. Seeds that failed to germinate in dark were transferred successively to 12 h-photoperiod, salinity to distilled water and from various temperature regimes to 20/30 °C, to determine the effect of these stresses and the ability of these seeds to recover respectively. Highest seed germination (H. glomeratus and L. latifolium: 100%; P. harmala: 80%) was obtained in non-saline control at 20/30 °C in 12 h-photoperiod, however, increase in salinity progressively inhibited seed germination. Seed germination of H. glomeratus and P. harmala was substantially inhibited and that of L. latifolium was prevented in dark. Salinity and dark treatments have a synergistic effect in inhibiting seed germination of all species. No seed of any species germinated at 5/15 °C; germination was substantially inhibited at 25/35 °C both for H. glomeratus and P. harmala while L. latifolium failed to germinate at 25/35 °C. Rate of germination also decreased with an increase in salinity at all temperature regimes but this effect was minimal at optimal temperature regime of 20/30 °C. After successive elimination of light, salinity and temperature stresses, final seed germination was identical to respective controls. The results indicate that seeds of these temperate halophytes could endure environmental stresses without losing viability and germinate readily when these stresses are removed. Under the extremely variable conditions of the playa habitat these species are highly opportunistic exploiting the windows of opportunity available during spring or early summer.  相似文献

The goals were to elucidate the effects of ventilation rate (VR) coupled with exposure to constant 20 °C or to diurnal temperature cycling on young turkeys' performance and sensible heat loss (SHL). In three experiments male British United Turkeys (BUT), from 3 to 6 weeks of age, were exposed to constant 20 °C, or to 35/25 °C or 30/20 °C diurnal temperature cycling, all at 50% RH and with VR (expressed as air velocity (AV)) ranging from 0.8 to 3.0 m s−1. The 2nd and 3rd of these experiments included a positive control at constant 30 °C and VR of 1.5 m s−1. Weight gain, feed intake, and feed efficiency were measured or calculated, as appropriate; SHL was calculated from measured surface temperature, and plasma concentrations of triiodothyronine (T3) was determined in the 1st experiment. Changes of VR at constant 20 °C did not affect performance, but total SHL increased significantly with increasing VR. Under the 35/25 °C regime a significantly higher BW was recorded, with a similar pattern of feed efficiency, when VR during the hot part of the cycle was 1.5 or 2.0 m s−1 than when it was 0.8 m s−1. In the 3rd experiment, BW in the 35/20 °C treatment was significantly lower than that of the controls. In all experiments, turkeys maintained body temperature (Tb) within the normothermic range, and SHL varied with VR. It can be concluded that although diurnal temperature cycling reflects the natural situation, exposing young turkeys to constant 30 °C combined with optimal ventilation might yield the best performance results.  相似文献

Marathrum schiedeanum and Marathrum rubrum are annual Podostemaceae, thus their seeds are important to their dispersal and persistence in their habitat. We assessed the effect on germination of (1) light (white, red and far red) and darkness, (2) temperature (15, 20, 25, 30 °C and alternating 20/30 °C), (3) osmotic potential (0 to −0.8 MPa), (4) proximity to moisture sources and (5) seed storage. Seeds of M. schiedeanum and M. rubrum were non-dormant and had a high germination capacity (96%). Seeds were positive photoblastic; at 15 °C germination drop to zero, and germination rate was slower at 20 °C and at 20/30 °C than at 25 °C. A small proportion of seeds of both species germinated even at osmotic potentials as low as −0.6 MPa (11%) for M. rubrum and −0.8 MPa (70%) for M. schiedeanum. Seeds germinated only when near to the source of moisture (91.3–87.1% and 53.3–35.6% for M. schiedeanum and M. rubrum, respectively) and 2 years in dry storage did not modify their capacity to germinate. At the beginning of the rainy season, light and temperature in the rivers may be high enough for germination. The ability to germinate at low osmotic potential may be related to early germination during the rainy season. This may be because the seed mucilage assists in diffusion of water from the substrate to the seed. Both species germinated faster at −0.06 MPa, than in distilled water, which may indicate appropriate conditions for germination of these short-lived species.  相似文献

The dielectric response of native wheat starch-water slurries containing 5-60% starch (w/w) was measured in the frequency range of 0.2-20 GHz after heating the slurries to 7 different temperatures between 25 and 90 °C for 30 min. Three relaxations, with relaxation time range of 4-9 ps, 20-25 ps and 230-620 ps at 25 °C, were identified from the dielectric spectra of starch slurries. The fastest relaxation process (4-9 ps) was attributed to bulk water while the two slower relaxations were attributed to the confined water molecules present in the starch-water system. The amount of water exhibiting the slowest relaxation (230-620 ps) was calculated to be 0.08-0.16 g water/g starch, which was close to the monolayer water associated with wheat starch. Mobility of bulk water was significantly reduced (P < 0.001) upon gelatinization at low starch concentration (10% starch), but remained unaffected at higher starch concentrations. The mobility of two slower relaxing water species was not significantly influenced (P > 0.19) by gelatinization at all starch concentrations.  相似文献

Typically, subzero permeability measurements are experimentally difficult and infrequently reported. Here we report an approach we have applied to mouse oocytes. Interrupted cooling involves rapidly cooling oocytes (50 °C/min) to an intermediate temperature above the intracellular nucleation zone, holding them for up to 40 min while they dehydrate, and then rapidly cooling them to −70 °C or below. If the intermediate holding temperature and holding time are well chosen, high post thaw survival of the oocytes is possible because the freezable water is removed during the hold. The length of time required for the exit of the freezable water allows the water permeability at that temperature to be determined. These experiments used 1.5 M ethylene glycol in PBS and included a transient hold of 2 min for equilibration at −10 °C, just below the extracellar ice formation temperature. We obtain an Lp = 1.8 × 10−3 μm min−1 atm−1 at −25 °C based on a hold time of 30 min yielding 80% survival and the premise that most of the freezable water is removed during the 30 min hold. If we assume that the water permeability is a continuous function of temperature and that its Ea changes at 0 °C, we obtain a subzero Ea of 21 kcal/mol; higher than the suprazero value of 14 kcal/mol. A number of assumptions are required for these water loss calculations and the resulting value of Lp can vary by up to a factor of 2, depending on the choices make.  相似文献

A mouse insulinoma (MIN6) strain in which connexin expression has been inhibited by antisense technology holds promise as an experimental model system for investigating the role of gap junctions in intercellular ice propagation. However, to properly interpret measurements of intracellular ice formation kinetics, the effects of cell dehydration on cytoplasmic supercooling must be determined. Thus, the cell membrane water permeability in monolayer cultures of the antisense-transfected MIN6 strain was measured using a fluorescence quenching method. By repeating the experiments at 4 °C, 12 °C, 21 °C, and 37 °C, the activation energy for water transport was determined to be Ea = 51 ± 3 kJ/mol. Although differences between membrane permeability measurements in theantisense and wild-type strains were not statistically significant, simulation of water transport during rapid freezing (130 °C/min) predicted that intracellular supercooling in the genetically modified MIN6 strain may become significantly larger than the supercooling in wild-type cells at temperatures below −15 °C.  相似文献

Critical thermal minima (CTMin) and maxima (CTMax) values were determined for the Pacific white shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei post-larvae and juveniles at four different acclimation temperatures (15, 20, 25, and 30 °C). The CTMin of shrimp at these acclimation temperatures were 7.82, 8.95, 9.80, and 10.96 °C for post-larvae and 7.50, 8.20, 10.20, and 10.80 °C for juveniles, respectively, at 1 °C h−1 cooling rate. The CTMax values were 35.65, 38.13, 39.91, and 42.00 °C for post-larvae and 35.94, 38.65, 40.30, and 42.20 °C for juveniles at the respective acclimation temperatures. Both acclimation temperature and size of the shrimp affected CTMin values of L. vannamei (P<0.01). Overall, juveniles displayed significantly lower CTMin values than the post-larvae (P<0.0001). However, the CTMax response by post-larvae and juveniles were not significantly different from each other and no interaction was determined between the acclimation temperature and development stage (P>0.01). The area of the thermal tolerance polygon over four acclimation temperatures (15, 20, 25, and 30 °C) for the post-larvae of L. vannamei was calculated to be 434.94 °C2. The acclimation response ratio (ARR) values were high ranging from 0.35 to 0.44 for both post-larvae and juveniles. L. vannamei appears to be more sensitive to low temperatures than other penaeid species and its cold tolerance zone ranged from 7.5 to 11 °C. In successful aquaculture temperature must never fall below 12 °C to prevent mortalities. Upper thermal tolerance is less of a problem as in most subtropical regions maximum water temperature rarely exceeds 34 °C, but care should be given if shallow ponds with low water renewal rate are being used.  相似文献

Heat stroke remains a very dangerous, potentially lethal illness in humans. The Physiological Strain Index (PSI), originally based on heart rate and rectal temperature recordings in humans, describes heat strain in quantitative terms. The objective of our study was to establish whether the rectal temperature recordings serving to determine the PSI could be replaced by a non-invasive skin temperature sensor combined with a heat flux sensor (Double Sensor) attached to the inside of a helmet. We assumed (i) that the difference between the recordings by the device under test and the rectal temperature should be less than ±1.0 °C for ±2 S.D. at 10, 25, and 40 °C ambient temperature, and (ii) that the temperature predictions based on the Double Sensor temperature should differ by less than 1 PSI score from the calculations based on recordings of the rectal temperature. Twenty male subjects participated in the study. Rectal, nasopharyngeal, and skin temperatures, heat flux, and cardiovascular data were collected continuously during different experimental setups at ambient temperatures of 10, 25, and 40 °C. Depending on the protocols, the exercise intensities varied from 25% to 55% of the individual VO2max. A comparison of the recordings obtained from the device under test with those of the rectal temperature revealed that (i) the recordings of the Double Sensor differed by −0.16 to 0.1 °C from the mean rectal temperature, (ii) the concordance correlation coefficients (CCC) during all work and rest periods rose with rising ambient temperatures (all work periods: 10 °C: 0.49; 25 °C: 0.69; 40 °C: 0.75; all rest periods: 10 °C: 0.39; 25 °C: 0.81; 40 °C: 0.74), and that (iii) the Double Sensor in the helmet showed that during all rest periods and in all ambient conditions, the temperature dropped much more quickly than what was recorded when taking the rectal temperature (p<0.01). When we compared the PSI values based on the rectal temperature recordings to those determined by the Double Sensor, it was found that (i) the PSI based on the Double Sensor recordings differed by −0.27 to 0.17 from the mean PSI established by rectal temperature recordings. Furthermore, the CCC for the PSI rose during all work periods (10 °C: 0.81, 25 °C: 0.93, 40 °C: 0.87) and rest periods (10 °C: 0.68; 25 °C: 0.93; 40 °C: 0.79). In conclusion, under warm/hot environmental conditions the device under test provided a reliable method of assessing the PSI in operational environments to improve physiological situational awareness and safety in action. However, there are some limitations that reduce the device's performance in cold environments; these need to be investigated further.  相似文献

In order to investigate the effects of acute heat stress and subsequent stress removal on function of hepatic mitochondrial respiration, production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and lipid peroxidation in broiler chickens, 128 six-week-old broiler chickens were kept in a controlled-environment chamber. The broiler chickens were initially kept at 25 °C (relative humidity, RH, 70 ± 5%) for 6 d and subsequently exposed to 35 °C (RH, 70 ± 5%) for 3 h, then the heat stress was removed and the temperature returned to 25 °C (RH, 70 ± 5%). Blood and liver samples were obtained before heat exposure and at 0 (at the end of the three-hour heating episode, this group is also abbreviated as the HT group), 1, 2, 4, 8, 12 h after the stress was removed. The results showed that acute heat stress induced a significant production of ROS, function of the mitochondrial respiratory chain, antioxidative enzymes [superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT) and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px)] activity, and formation of malondialdehybe (MDA). Within the first 12 h after removal of the heat stress, the acute modification of the above parameters induced by heat stress gradually approached to pre-heat levels. The results of the present study suggest that acute exposure to high temperatures may depress the activity of the mitochondrial respiratory chain. This leads to over-production of ROS, which ultimately results in lipid peroxidation and oxidative stress. When the high temperature was removed, the production of ROS, mitochondrial respiratory function and oxidative injury that were induced by acute heat exposure gradually approached the levels observed before heating, in a time-dependent manner.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to design a 'Traveller Friendly Drug Delivery System' for PM-HCl. Conventional promethazine (PM-HCl) tablets are bitter, need to be taken 1 h before symptoms and water is also needed. Taste-masked granules were produced with Eudragit E100 by extrusion, and analyzed with FTIR, DSC, and XRD. Tablets formulated from granules by direct compression using Ac-Di-Sol, Polyplasdone-XL, Primojel and ion-exchanger Tulsion339 and evaluated for mass uniformity, friability, tensile strength, drug content uniformity, water absorption ratio, in-vitro and in-vivo disintegration time and in-vitro dissolution studies. The observed drug-polymer interactions and reduced crystallinity may be reasons for increased dissolution rates. The formulated tablets were disintegrated within 15 s. Tablets (25 mg PM-HCl) with Ac-Di-Sol (4%) showed complete release within 1 min, while marketed conventional tablets (Phenergan; Rhone-Poulec) release 25% during the same period. A preliminary stability studies for the prepared tablets carried at 30 +/- 2 degrees C/60 +/- 5% RH, and 40 +/- 2 degrees C/75 +/- 5%RH for 3 months showed no significant changes in the tablets quality at 30 +/- 2 degrees C/60 +/- 5% RH. However, at 40 +/- 2 degrees C/75 +/- 5%RH marked increase in in-vitro disintegration time, tensile strength and decrease in friability and water absorption ratio was found. The present studies indicate the abilities of Eudragit E 100 for taste masking and improving the dissolution profile of PM-HCl after complexation. In addition, by employing cost effective direct compression method, fast-dissolving tablets of 400 mg total weight with an acceptable quality could be prepared.  相似文献

A carbon/silica composite designed for use under compressive loads was fabricated from rice husk (RH), an agricultural waste material. RH was pulverized by using a planetary ball mill, then carbonized and molded into the precursor by means of hot-pressing without using any binders. A compression of 100 MPa was intermittently applied to the RH powder heated from room temperature to 150 °C, and then to 280 °C. The precursor, the bulk density of which was 1.37 g/cm3, was sintered for further densification at up to 1400 °C without compression, in nitrogen gas. The smaller particle size of the pulverized RH was beneficial for densifying the carbon/silica composite and increasing its compressive strength. Sintering at 800 °C for 1 h in nitrogen gas provided the maximum bulk density of 1.52 g/cm3 and the maximum Vickers hardness at the surface of 343 HV. The maximum compressive strength was measured to be 55.7 MPa using a sintering temperature of 1200 °C.  相似文献

Oviposition and fecundity in the grain miteAcarus siro were studied at 5–30°C and 62.5–90% RH. At and above 20°C, 80% RH, mating and oviposition occurred soon after emergence, but at lower temperatures and humidities egg laying was progressively delayed from one to several days. Females needed to mate repeatedly in order to achieve maximum egg production, optimum conditions for which were 15°C, 90% RH, where total output per female averaged 435 with a maximum of 858. Oviposition rates were highest at higher temperatures, the mean daily rate at 20 and 25°C, 90% RH, rising to maximum levels of 28/29 eggs per female per day on day six.Oviposition followed clearly defined patterns, favourable conditions producing rapid increases in the mean daily oviposition rate to high peak levels reached at an early stage in the oviposition period. Less favourable conditions resulted in reduced outputs and lower, more uniform rates of egg laying. The mean oviposition period, varying with humidity, fell from 72–122 days at 5°C to 9–13 days at 30°C and the mean incubation period from 42–70 days at 5°C to 3–4 days at 30°C. Egg viability increased with increasing humidity but was little affected by temperature and unaffected by age of the female at time of oviposition.Males tended to live longer than females at most conditions; longevity—depending on humidity—averaging 13–15 days at 30°C and 129–175 days at 5°C. Adult life for females averaged 12–19 days at 30°C and 88–169 days at 5°C. An index of suitability, calculated from egg number, viability and duration of the egg stage and oviposition period, indicated that the most favourable conditions for oviposition and hatching were 20–25°C and 80–90% RH.  相似文献

The fungal pathogen Neozygites floridana Weiser and Muma has been evaluated as a classical biological candidate for introduction into Africa against the invasive tomato red spider mite Tetranychus evansi Baker and Pritchard. In this study, the effect of temperature on sporulation, germination and virulence of three isolates of N. floridana collected from T. evansi in three climatically distinct regions of Brazil and Argentina was determined. Six constant temperatures of 13 °C, 17 °C, 21 °C, 25 °C, 29 °C and 33 °C were tested for their effect on the ability of the three fungal isolates to sporulate, germinate and kill the mites. Six alternating-temperature regimes of 17-13 °C, 21-13 °C, 29-13 °C, 33-13 °C, 33-23 °C, 33-28 °C under a 12 h photophase were also tested to estimate virulence of the three isolates against T. evansi. The Vipos isolate discharged more conidia than isolates from Recife or Piracicaba at all temperatures and sporulation was strongly temperature dependent. Optimal sporulation rates were observed at 25 °C while optimal germination rates were observed at 25 °C and 29 °C. At 29 °C, the shortest mean survival time of T. evansi (3.16 days, 95% CI of 3.05-3.27) was observed for the isolate from Vipos, while the longest LT50 (3.47 days, 95% CI 3.34-3.59) was observed for the isolate from Piracicaba. Mortality of mites increased as the differences between alternating day and night temperatures increased from 8 °C (21-13 °C), to 10 °C (33-23 °C), to 16 °C (29-13 °C), with smallest and highest temperature differences of 4 °C (17-13 °C) and 20 °C (33-13 °C), both producing low mortalities. The overall results suggest that the Vipos isolate is better adapted to a wider range of temperatures than the other isolates tested.  相似文献

Pseudomonas aeruginosa CH7, isolated from activated sludge, was able not only to isomerize and degrade beta-cypermethrin but also to utilize it as the sole source of carbon and energy for growth and produce biosurfactant. The strain effectively degraded beta-cypermethrin with inocula biomass of 0.1-0.2 g L−1 at 25-35 °C, pH 6-9, and a final concentration of beta-cypermethrin 25-900 mg L−1. Via response surface methodology analysis, we found the optimal condition was 29.4 °C, pH 7.0, and inocula biomass of 0.15 g L−1; under these conditions, about 90% of the beta-cypermethrin could be degraded within 12 days. Noticeably, biosurfactant was detected in the MSM culture of strain CH7, suggesting that the biosurfactant (rhamnolipid) could potentially enhance the degradation of beta-cypermethrin by promoting the dissolution, adsorption, and absorption of the hydrophobic compounds. Therefore, CH7 may serve as a promising strain in the bioremediation of wastewater and soil polluted by beta-cypermethrin.  相似文献

To understand the ecology and environmental tolerances of newly hatched larvae of the amphidromous fish Sicyopterus japonicus during their downstream migration, the salinity tolerance of eggs, 0-15 day old larvae, and adults, and the temperature tolerance, specific gravity and phototaxis of hatched larvae were examined. Tolerances of adults were measured as survival after a 24 h challenge in freshwater (FW), brackish water (1/3 SW) and seawater (SW). The survival rate of adult S. japonicus was 100% in FW and 1/3 SW, while none survived in SW. Hatching success of eggs (30 eggs each) was significantly higher in FW (mean: 73%) and 1/3 SW (73%) than in SW (19%). Tolerance of newly hatched larvae to salinity and temperature was investigated in different combinations of salinities (FW, 1/3 SW and SW) and temperatures (18, 23 and 28 °C). Larval survival was significantly different in each salinity and temperature. Survival rate was significantly higher in 1/3 SW than in FW and higher in SW than in FW at 23 °C and 28 °C. At the latter part of the experiment, there was no survival in FW and at 28 °C. Survival was higher in lower temperatures, but larval development did not occur in FW. Specific gravity of newly hatched larvae was 1.036 at 28 °C and 1.034 at 23 °C. When exposed to a light source on one side of an aquarium, larval distribution was not affected. Our results indicated larval S. japonicus are more adapted to brackish water and seawater than freshwater, while the adults and eggs are more adapted to freshwater and brackish water than seawater. This is consistent with their amphidromous life history with growth and spawning occurring in freshwater and the larval stage utilizing marine habitats.  相似文献

The effects of acclimation temperature on insect thermal performance curves are generally poorly understood but significant for understanding responses to future climate variation and the evolution of these reaction norms. Here, in Acheta domesticus, we examine the physiological effects of 7-9 days acclimation to temperatures 4 °C above and below optimum growth temperature of 29 °C (i.e. 25, 29, 33 °C) for traits of resistance to thermal extremes, temperature-dependence of locomotion performance (jumping distance and running speed) and temperature-dependence of respiratory metabolism. We also examine the effects of acclimation on mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase (CCO) enzyme activity. Chill coma recovery time (CRRT) was significantly reduced from 38 to 13 min with acclimation at 33-25 °C, respectively. Heat knockdown resistance was less responsive than CCRT to acclimation, with no significant effects of acclimation detected for heat knockdown times (25 °C: 18.25, 29 °C: 18.07, 33 °C: 25.5 min). Thermal optima for running speed were higher (39.4-40.6 °C) than those for jumping performance (25.6-30.9 °C). Acclimation temperature affected jumping distance but not running speed (general linear model, p = 0.0075) although maximum performance (UMAX) and optimum temperature (TOPT) of the performance curves showed small or insignificant effects of acclimation temperature. However, these effects were sensitive to the method of analysis since analyses of TOPT, UMAX and the temperature breadth (TBR) derived from non-linear curve-fitting approaches produced high inter-individual variation within acclimation groups and reduced variation between acclimation groups. Standard metabolic rate (SMR) was positively related to body mass and test temperature. Acclimation temperature significantly influenced the slope of the SMR-temperature reaction norms, whereas no variation in the intercept was found. The CCO enzyme activity remained unaffected by thermal acclimation. Finally, high temperature acclimation resulted in significant increases in mortality (60-70% at 33 °C vs. 20-30% at 25 and 29 °C). These results suggest that although A. domesticus may be able to cope with low temperature extremes to some degree through phenotypic plasticity, population declines with warmer mean temperatures of only a few degrees are likely owing to the limited plasticity of their performance curves.  相似文献

Arabinoglucuronoxylan was extracted from Norway spruce and films prepared by casting from aqueous solution. The sugar analysis and NMR confirmed that the spruce xylan was composed of arabinose, 4-O-methyl-glucuronic acid and xylose in a ratio of 1:2:11 respectively. Substitutions of 4-O-methyl-α-d-GlcpA at O2 and of α-l-Araf at O3 on the xylose backbone were found by NOE analysis. NOE cross-peaks indicated as well that there is at least one free xylose on the main chain present between two substitutions. Whether the distribution of side chains was random or in blocks was uncertain. The average molecular weight of the sample was determined by size exclusion chromatography to be 12,780 g/mol. Arabinoglucoronoxylan casting yielded transparent flexible films with an average stress at break of 55 MPa, strain at break of 2.7% and a Young's Modulus 2735 MPa. Wide-angle X-ray scattering analysis showed that the arabinoglucuronoxylan films were totally amorphous. Addition of sorbitol as plasticizer resulted in less strong but more flexible films (strain at break of 5%). Peaks of crystallinity could be seen in X-ray which corresponds to sorbitol crystallizing in distinct phases. The dynamic mechanical analysis showed that the arabinoglucuronoxylan film softened at a later relative humidity (80% RH) in comparison with plasticized films (60% RH). The films showed low oxygen permeability and thus have a potential application in food packaging.  相似文献
