The nymphalid Paulogramma hydarnis (Godart) (n. comb., previously in the genus Callicore) is an endangered butterfly present in a few montane sites in the Atlantic Forest in the Southeastern Brazil. The precise systematic position of P. hydarnis was previously unknown. Based on molecular data, we find that it is sister to Paulogramma pygas (Godart) (n. comb., also previously in Callicore), a common and widespread species in the Neotropics. In addition, we find that Callicore is not monophyletic and that “Callicorehydarnis (along with other species) is more related to the genus Paulogramma, and should thus be placed in that genus. The genus Paulogramma is now composed by the following species: Paulogramma pyracmon (Godart), Paulogramma eunomia (Hewitson) n. comb., Paulogramma hydarnis (Godart) n. comb., Paulogramma hystaspes (Fabricius) n. comb., Paulogramma pygas (Godart) n. comb., and Paulogramma tolima (Hewitson, 1852) n. comb. Museum specimens and field data report P. hydarnis in four sites in Southeastern Brazil. Recently, P. hydarnis was recorded for the first time at Parque Nacional do Caparaó, states of Espírito Santo and Minas Gerais, expanding its distribution about 200 km northward of the previously known limit. Although regularly recorded in some sites, most records are historic, before the 1960s, and the current conservation situation of this species is delicate, deserving attention.  相似文献

The revision of the type collections on the genus Pseudorhaptagnostus Lermontova, 1940 has shown the validity of the type species. Originally indicated type species P. simplex Lermontova, 1951 appeared to be erroneously combination of cephala and pygidia from different species; recombined set of cephala and pygidia for P. simplex synonymized it with P. punctatus Lermontova, 1940, and therefore renamed the type species as the latter one. Also Pseudorhaptagnostus has shown to differ from its close morphological affinities Neoagnostus, Norilagnostus, Machairagnostus, Idolagnostus. New introduction of their morphological difference allowed us to rearrange the species assignment of these genera.  相似文献

During the first half of the twentieth century, two accidental cases of introduction of Pissodes weevils were recorded from the southern hemisphere. The weevils in South Africa were identified as the deodar weevil (Pissodes nemorensis) and those in South America as the small banded pine weevil (Pissodes castaneus). Wide distribution of the two species in their invasive range, general difficulty in identifying some Pissodes spp., and the varying feeding and breeding behaviours of the species in South Africa has necessitated better evidence of species identity and genetic diversity of both species and population structure of the species in South Africa. Barcoding and the Jerry-to-Pat region of the COI gene were investigated. Morphometric data of the South African species was analysed. Our results confirmed the introduction of only one Pissodes species of North American origin to South Africa. However, this species is not P. nemorensis, but an unrecognized species of the P. strobi complex or a hybrid between P. strobi and P. nemorensis. Only P. castaneus, of European origin, was identified from South America. We identified ten mitochondrial DNA haplotypes from South Africa with evidence of moderate genetic structure among geographic populations. Terminal leader and bole-feeding weevils did not differ at the COI locus. A single haplotype was identified from populations of P. castaneus in South America. Results of the present study will have implications on quarantine, research and management of these insect species.  相似文献

The development of Fusarium culmorum and Pseudomonas fluorescens in soil, and the relations between them, were studied using membrane filters containing the fungus, the bacterium, or both microorganisms; the filters were incubated in soil. F. culmorum was identified by indirect immunofluorescence; the GUS-labeled strain was used to visualize P. fluorescens. It was found that F. culmorum introduced in soil can develop as a saprotroph, with the formation of mycelium, macroconidia, and a small amount of chlamydospores. Introduction of glucose and cellulose resulted in increased density of the F. culmorum mycelium and macroconidia. P. fluorescens suppressed the development of the F. culmorum mycelium in soil, but stimulated chlamydospore formation. Decreased mycelial density in the presence of P. fluorescens was more pronounced in soil without additions and less pronounced in the case of introduction of glucose or cellulose. F. culmorum had no effect on P. fluorescens growth in soil.  相似文献

Two new quill mite species of the genus Psittaciphilus Fain, Bochkov & Mironov, 2000 (Acariformes: Prostigmata: Syringophilidae) collected from columbiform birds (Columbiformes) are described: Psittaciphilus montanus n. sp. form the ruddy quail-dove Geotrygon montana Gosse from Trinidad and Tobago, Brazil and Panama, and Psittaciphilus patagioenas n. sp. from the band-tailed pigeon Patagioenas fasciata (Say) from Colombia and the scaled pigeon Patagioenas speciosa (Gmelin) from Surinam. A key to the species of the genus Psittaciphilus is provided. Our finding is the first record of the representatives of this genus on columbiform birds.  相似文献

The disjunct occurrence of Pedicularis exaltata in the White Carpathians (Czech Republic), isolated by more than 500 km from the nearest populations in the Eastern Carpathians, has been considered one of the mysteries of the Western Carpathian flora. We used molecular methods (AFLP, ITS and cpDNA sequencing) to reconstruct a possible scenario of the evolution of P. exaltata and its closely related congener P. hacquetii and to evaluate their differentiation. We paid particular attention to the origin of the isolated population in the White Carpathians. We also analysed the vegetation composition at the sampling sites to characterize the habitat preferences of the Pedicularis species and compare different sites. The pattern of molecular variability does not support a species boundary between P. exaltata and P. hacquetii. These assumed species should be merged into one bearing the name Pedicularis hacquetii following the priority rule, as also proposed by several early morphology-based taxonomic studies. The cpDNA variability pattern supports an evolutionary scenario involving a distribution centre (refugium) in the Eastern Carpathians from which the species expanded to the more westerly parts of its extant geographical range. Low population differentiation in AFLPs, high gene diversity and high DW index in isolated populations indicate that this expansion was contiguous rather than based on long-distance dispersal. Under such a scenario, the White Carpathian population is considered one of isolated relict populations scattered throughout the Carpathians and the East European Plain. A complete phylogeographic reconstruction of P. hacquetii s.l., however, requires ancient DNA analysis of herbarium specimens of nowadays extinct populations of the East European Plain. Extant habitats of P. hacquetii s.l. consist of species-rich dry-mesic to mesic (sub)montane grasslands and subalpine tall-herb growths, which may be relics of vegetation widespread in the late Glacial/early Holocene, when the contiguous expansion of the species possibly proceeded. The analysis of species with high fidelity to P. hacquetii s.l. throughout its range indicated that middle altitudes of south-western White Carpathians belong to the regions most suitable for the taxon within the Czech Republic and Slovakia. We found no support for the late introduction/long-distance dispersal scenarios and consider the relic survival scenario most parsimonious for the White Carpathians.  相似文献

Both sexes of a new species of pandarid copepod are described from sharks of the genus Squalus L. (Squaliformes: Squalidae). Specimens of Pseudopandarus cairae n. sp. were collected from Squalus bucephalus Last, Séret & Pogonoski and S. melanurus Fourmanoir & Rivaton in New Caledonian waters, the first parasitic copepod to be described from either host species. This is the eighth nominal species of Pseudopandarus Kirtisinghe, 1950 and the first to be described from a shark of the order Squaliformes. Pseudopandarus cairae n. sp. is easily distinguished from P. australis Cressey & Simpfendorfer, 1988, P. longus (Gnanamuthu, 1951) Cressey, 1967, and P. pelagicus Rangnekar, 1977 in having the female genital complex concealed beneath an elongate dorsal genital shield with a trilobed posterior margin. It can be distinguished from P. gracilis Kirtisinghe, 1950 and P. scyllii Yamaguti & Yamasu, 1959 by the armature of the leg 4 endopod and by the proportions of the dorsal genital shield. The new species is unique among known species of Pseudopandarus in its possession of only 1 setal element on the distal endopod segment of leg 4. In addition to describing the new species, the host associations of all species of Pseudopandarus are reviewed and observations are made regarding sexual dimorphism and mode of attachment. A key to the species considered valid is provided.  相似文献

In this paper, all known autoecious Puccinia species (rust fungi, Uredinales) on Cucurbitaceae are described and most of them illustrated. A key and information on their host range and distribution is presented. Four species, Puccinia antennata, P. arbor-miraculensis, P. hieroglyphica, and P. rhytidioderma are proposed as new. P. momordicae and P. trochomeriae are recognised as valid species different from P. cephalandrae. Uredo melothriae is a new combination for Uromyces melothriae. P. cucumeris is a new report for Namibia, P. momordicae for Zimbabwe and P. vanderystii for Kenya. The species appear to be host specific with regard to host tribes, but P. citrulli and P. cucumeris may pass tribal boundaries. Most species are morphologically very similar and are characterised by a unique set of teliospore characters. They are therefore regarded as a natural group. The distribution of this group in semiarid habitats, mainly from southern Africa to India, is discussed.  相似文献

Prunus yedoensis Matsumura is one of the popular ornamental flowering cherry trees native to northeastern Asia, and its wild populations have only been found on Jeju Island, Korea. Previous studies suggested that wild P. yedoensis (P. yedoensis var. nudiflora) is a hybrid species; however, there is no solid evidence on its exact parental origin and genomic organization. In this study, we developed a total of 38 nuclear gene-based DNA markers that can be universally amplifiable in the Prunus species using 586 Prunus Conserved Orthologous Gene Set (Prunus COS). Using the Prunus COS markers, we investigated the genetic structure of wild P. yedoensis populations and evaluated the putative parental species of wild P. yedoensis. Population structure and phylogenetic analysis of 73 wild P. yedoensis accessions and 54 accessions of other Prunus species revealed that the wild P. yedoensis on Jeju Island is a natural homoploid hybrid. Sequence-level comparison of Prunus COS markers between species suggested that wild P. yedoensis might originate from a cross between maternal P. pendula f. ascendens and paternal P. jamasakura. Moreover, approximately 81% of the wild P. yedoensis accessions examined were likely F1 hybrids, whereas the remaining 19% were backcross hybrids resulting from additional asymmetric introgression of parental genotypes. These findings suggest that complex hybridization of the Prunus species on Jeju Island can produce a range of variable hybrid offspring. Overall, this study makes a significant contribution to address issues of the origin, nomenclature, and genetic relationship of ornamental P. yedoensis.  相似文献

Length-weight and length-length relationships are presented for two fish species collected during May 2015 to August 2016 from Narora site of the river Ganga. The parameters a and b of the length-weight relationships were estimated after the logarithmic transformation of the equation: W = aL b . The lengthlength relationships were also estimated using linear regressions. The coefficients of determination (R 2) values were >0.9 for both target fish species and linear regressions were highly significant (p < 0.001). Length-weight relationship indicated positive allometric growth pattern for Cirrhinus mrigala and negative allometric growth pattern for Xenentodon cancila. Length-length relationships for the selected fish species were also highly significant (R 2 > 0.9, p < 0.001).  相似文献

The introduction into strain Pseudomonas chlororaphis 449 of plasmid pME6863 that contains the cloned gene for N-acyl-homoserine lactonase, AiiA, leads to the degradation of all three types of N-acylhomoserine lactones produced by this strain (N-butanoyl-homoserine lactone, N-hexanoyl-homoserine lactone, and N-3-oxo-hexanoyl-homoserine lactone). This causes a drastic reduction in the synthesis of phenazine pigment and decreases the ability of cells to migrate on the surface of nutrient medium. However, the antagonistic activity of P. chlororaphis 449 toward phytopathogenic fungi Sclerotinia sclerotiorum and Rhizoctonia solani is not only decreased, but is even slightly increased; no essential changes in the exoprotease activity were observed. It is assumed that one of the QS systems of P. chlororaphis 449 may exert the repression effect on the expression of genes, which determine the two latter cell activities.  相似文献

Historical events such as colonisation, spatial distribution across different habitats, and contemporary processes, such as human-mediated habitat fragmentation can leave lasting imprints on the population genetics of a species. Orchids currently comprise 17% of threatened flora species in Australia (Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999) due to the combination of fragmentation and illegal harvesting (Benwell in Recovery plan, swamp orchids Phaius australis, Phaius tancarvilliae, NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service, Sydney, 1994; Jones in A complete guide to native orchids of Australia including the island territories, 2nd edn, Reed Natural History, Sydney, 2006; DE in Phaius australis in species profile and threats database, Department of the Environment. http://www.environment.gov.au/sprat, 2015). The federally endangered Swamp Orchid Phaius australis has a disjunct distribution across an almost 2000 km latitudinal range along Australia’s east coast but it was estimated that 95% of the populations have been lost since European settlement (Benwell 1994). Phaius australis is endangered due to illegal collection and habitat loss that has resulted in limited connectivity between populations, in ecosystems that are vulnerable to climate change. Thus the genetic impacts of its history combined with more recent fragmentation may have impacts on its future viability especially in light of changing environmental conditions. Thirty-four populations were sampled from tropical north Queensland to the southern edge of the subtropics in New South Wales. Population genetics analysis was conducted using 13 polymorphic microsatellite markers developed for the species using NextGen sequencing. Spatial genetic patterns indicate post-colonisation divergence from the tropics southwards to its current climate niche limits. Genetic diversity is low across all populations (A?=?1.5, H e  = 0.171), and there is little evidence of genetic differentiation between regions. Consistent with population genetic theory, the historic loss of populations has resulted in significantly lower genetic diversity in small populations compared to large (P, A, He; p?<?0.05). The viability and persistence of P. australis populations now and in a changing climate are discussed in the context of conservation priorities.  相似文献

On a large collection of material, a revision of mesopelagic fish of the genus Poromitra (family Melamphaidae) belonging to the group of species P. cristiceps was performed. The most typical characteristic of this group is the structure of the praeoperculum, in which bony crests of the anterior margin are at an acute angle to each other and in the posterior angular part there is usually an unspined notch. In the paper, the validity of four species of this group that were previously considered synonyms of the cosmopolitan species P. crassiceps is restored. P. cristiceps inhabits the northern part of the Pacific Ocean (to the north of 25–30° N), P. nigrofulva and P. frontosa inhabit tropical waters of the eastern part of the Pacific Ocean, and P. nigriceps inhabits the northern part of the Atlantic Ocean, from Greenland to the Azorres.  相似文献

The finding of unique Chl d- and Chl f-containing cyanobacteria in the last decade was a discovery in the area of biology of oxygenic photosynthetic organisms. Chl b, Chl c, and Chl f are considered to be accessory pigments found in antennae systems of photosynthetic organisms. They absorb energy and transfer it to the photosynthetic reaction center (RC), but do not participate in electron transport by the photosynthetic electron transport chain. However, Chl d as well as Chl a can operate not only in the light-harvesting complex, but also in the photosynthetic RC. The long-wavelength (Qy) Chl d and Chl f absorption band is shifted to longer wavelength (to 750 nm) compared to Chl a, which suggests the possibility for oxygenic photosynthesis in this spectral range. Such expansion of the photosynthetically active light range is important for the survival of cyanobacteria when the intensity of light not exceeding 700 nm is attenuated due to absorption by Chl a and other pigments. At the same time, energy storage efficiency in photosystem 2 for cyanobacteria containing Chl d and Chl f is not lower than that of cyanobacteria containing Chl a. Despite great interest in these unique chlorophylls, many questions related to functioning of such pigments in primary photosynthetic processes are still not elucidated. This review describes the latest advances in the field of Chl d and Chl f research and their role in primary photosynthetic processes of cyanobacteria.  相似文献

The presence of Campylobacter species was studied in three Antarctic penguin species, Adélie (Pygoscelis adeliae), chinstrap (Pygoscelis antarctica) and gentoo (Pygoscelis papua). A total of 390 penguins were captured in 12 different rookeries along the Antarctic Peninsula with differences in the amount of human visitation: six colonies were highly visited [Stranger Point, King George Island (P. papua and P. adeliae); Hannah Point, Livingston Island (P. papua and P. antarctica); Deception Island (P. antarctica); and Paradise Bay, Antarctic Peninsula (P. papua)], and six colonies were rarely visited [Devil’s Point, Byers Peninsula, Livingston Island (P. papua); Cierva Cove, Antarctic Peninsula (P. papua); Rongé Island (P. papua and P. antarctica); Yalour Island (P. adeliae); and Avian Island (P. adeliae)]. A total of 23 strains were isolated from penguins from nine different rookeries. Campylobacter lari subsp. lari was isolated from eight samples (seven from P. papua and one from P. adeliae); C. lari subsp. concheus from 13 (ten from P. adeliae and three from P. antarctica) and C. volucris from two samples (both from P. papua). We did not find any significant differences in the prevalence of Campylobacter spp. between the populations in highly and rarely visited areas. This is the first report of C. lari subsp. concheus and C. volucris isolation from penguins in the Antarctic region.  相似文献

In vitro growth, development, total soluble proteins and peroxidase profiles of Salvadora oleoides and Salvadora persica under NaCl stress were analysed in the present investigation. The plants are evergreen haloxeric tree species of family Salvadoraceae. Shoot apex from natural plants were initially used for screening of NaCl tolerance on MS culture medium. Shoot apex of S. oleoides and S. persica could survive optimally up to 200 and 100 mM NaCl. Axillary buds from nodal shoot segments of S. oleoides and S. persica were activated on 6 and 4 μM BAP, and were used further for extraction of total soluble proteins and peroxidases. Total soluble proteins were increased up to 150 mM NaCl in S. oleoides, but decline above 50 mM NaCl in S. persica. Peroxidase activity remained almost constant in S. oleoides at all the concentrations and duration of NaCl, but increased at 100 mM NaCl during fourth week of treatment in S. persica. Eleven peroxidase isozymes were observed in zymogram of S. oleoides. Isozymes P1, P2, P3, and P4 were slightly appeared, but P6 isozyme was lacking in S. persica. The P5 isozyme was more prominent in S. persica than S. oleoides. Isozyme P9 of S. persica was visible during the first week of NaCl treatment, but disappeared in the fourth week. Molecular biology of these plants can be useful further for the understanding of stress tolerance mechanisms for prospects.  相似文献

Zanthoxylum is an economically and ecologically important genus of the Rutaceae family, of which Z. bungeanum and Z. armatum have a long history of cultivation in China. However, how the natural processes such as selection and drift and agriculture practices have influenced the genetic variation of cultivated Zanthoxylum species during long-term domestication remains elusive. Herein, we determined the population genetic structure of current widely cultivated Zanthoxylum species, Z. bungeanum and Z. armatum. Microsatellite markers revealed a high level of genetic variation and significant genetic differentiation for both species despite Z. bungeanum showed higher genetic diversity than Z. armatum. AMOVA indicated that most of the genetic variation exists within individuals rather than among provenances for both species. Population structure analyses generated three distinct groups within the entire accessions. All Z. bungeanum accessions were distinguished into two major geographic groups, north and south groups, with Qinling Mountains as the main geographic barrier to gene flow while a significant genetic differentiation was observed between cultivated and wild Z. armatum accessions. Mantel test of Z. bungeanum displayed a significant correlation between genetic and geographic distances within each inferred group but no correlation between genetic and geographic distance was observed when comparing genetic and geographic distances focusing only on pairwise of north vs. south provenances, ruling out the hypothesis that gene flow between north and south provenances followed an isolation-by-distance model. Our research provided a fundamental genetic profile that will improve the conservation and responsible exploitation of the extant germplasm of Zanthoxylum.  相似文献

The present study evaluates the phylogenetic position and systematic relationships of two species of Mosgovoyia Spasskii, 1951 and related genera (Cestoda: Anoplocephalidae) based on sequences of 28S ribosomal RNA and mitochondrial NADH dehydrogenase subunit 1 (Nad1) genes. Both molecular data-sets show that M. pectinata (Goeze, 1782) and Schizorchis caballeroi Rausch, 1960 are sister species and that they are phylogenetically independent from M. ctenoides (Railliet, 1890). This shows unambiguously that Mosgovoyia [sensu Beveridge (1978)] is a non-monophyletic assemblage, supporting the validity of Neoctenotaenia Tenora, 1976, erected for M. ctenoides. The results also show that the morphologically related Ctenotaenia marmotae (Fröhlich, 1802) is the sister species of Andrya rhopalocephala (Riehm, 1881) and therefore represents a more derived lineage. Modified diagnoses are provided for Mosgovoyia and Neoctenotaenia.  相似文献
