Donor–acceptor (D‐A) type π‐conjugated copolymers with crystalline behavior have been extensively investigated as donor semiconductors in organic photovoltaics (OPVs). On the other hand, the development of high‐performance amorphous donor materials is still behind. The amorphous donor copolymer DTS‐C0(F2) consisting of dithieno[3,2‐b:2′,3′‐d]silole ( DTS ) donor unit and the recently developed fluorine‐substituted naphtho[2,3‐c]thiophene‐4,9‐dione ( C0(F2) ) acceptor unit shows moderate photovoltaic performance upon blending with PC71BM. In this work, to enhance the hole‐transporting characteristics, a 3‐hexylthiophene ( HT ) spacer unit is integrated into the conjugated backbone, resulting in a new amorphous copolymer DTS‐HT‐C0(F2) . The strong electron‐accepting nature of C0(F2) allows the introduction of the HT spacer without affecting the frontier orbital energies and thus the D‐A character. Without using solvent additives and thermal annealing, OPVs based on DTS‐HT‐C0(F2) and [6,6]‐phenyl‐C71‐butyric acid methyl ester PC71BM show an improved power conversion efficiency of 9.12%. Investigation of the device physics unambiguously reveals that the hole mobility of the copolymer in the blend is increased by an order of magnitude by the introduction of HT , while keeping an amorphous film nature, leading to higher short‐circuit current density and fill factor. These results demonstrate the realization of high‐performance OPVs based on amorphous active layers.  相似文献

Using bromoantimonate (V) (N‐EtPy)[SbBr6] as an example, it is demonstrated that ABX6 compounds can form perovskite‐like 3D crystalline frameworks with short interhalide contacts, enabling advanced optoelectronic characteristics of these materials. The designed compound shows an impressive performance in planar junction solar cells delivering external quantum efficiency of ≈80% and power conversion efficiency of ≈4%, thus being comparable with the conventional perovskite material MAPbBr3. The discovery of the first perovskite‐like compound ABX6 exhibiting good photovoltaic performance opens wide opportunities for rational design of novel perovskite‐like semiconductor materials for advanced electronic and photovoltaic applications.  相似文献

Length of the terminal alkyl chains at dicyanovinyl (DCV) groups of two dithienosilole (DTS) containing small molecules ( DTS(Oct)2‐(2T‐DCV‐Me)2 and DTS(Oct)2‐(2T‐DCV‐Hex)2 ) is investigated to evaluate how this affects the molecular solubility and blend morphology as well as their performance in bulk heterojunction organic solar cells (OSCs). While the DTS(Oct)2‐(2T‐DCV‐Me)2 (a solubility of 5 mg mL?1) system exhibits both high short circuit current density (J sc) and high fill factor, the DTS(Oct)2‐(2T‐DCV‐Hex)2 (a solubility of 24 mg mL?1) system in contrast suffers from a poor blend morphology as examined by atomic force morphology and grazing incidence X‐ray scattering measurements, which limit the photovoltaic properties. The charge generation, transport, and recombination dynamics associated with the limited device performance are investigated for both systems. Nongeminate recombination losses in DTS(Oct)2‐(2T‐DCV‐Hex)2 system are demonstrated to be significant by combining space charge limited current analysis and light intensity dependence of current–voltage characteristics in combination with photogenerated charge carrier extraction by linearly increasing voltage and transient photovoltage measurements. DTS(Oct)2‐(2T‐DCV‐Me)2 in contrast performs nearly ideal with no evidence of nongeminate recombination, space charge effects, or mobility limitation. These results demonstrate the importance of alkyl chain engineering for solution‐processed OSCs based on small molecules as an essential design tool to overcome transport limitations.  相似文献

Organic photovoltaic cells possess desirable practical characteristics, such as the potential for low‐cost fabrication on flexible substrates, but they lag behind their inorganic counterparts in performance due in part to fundamental energy loss mechanisms, such as overcoming the charge transfer (CT) state binding energy when photogenerated charge is transferred across the donor/acceptor interface. However, recent work has suggested that crystalline interfaces can reduce this binding energy due to enhanced CT state delocalization. Solar cells based on rubrene and C60 are investigated as an archetypal system because it allows the degree of crystallinity to be moldulated from a highly disordered to highly ordered system. Using a postdeposition annealing method to transform as‐deposited amorphous rubrene thin films into ones that are highly crystalline, it is shown that the CT state of a highly crystalline rubrene/C60 heterojunction undergoes extreme delocalization parallel to the interface leading to a band‐like state that exhibits a linear Stark effect. This state parallels the direct charge formation of inorganic solar cells and reduces energetic losses by 220 meV compared with 12 other archetypal heterojunctions reported in the literature.  相似文献

A series of narrow‐bandgap π‐conjugated oligomers based on diketopyrrolopyrrole chromophoric units coupled with benzodithiophene, indacenodithiophene, thiophene, and isoindigo cores are designed and synthesized for application as donor materials in solution‐processed small‐molecule organic solar cells. The impacts of these different central cores on the optoelectronic and morphological properties, carrier mobility, and photovoltaic performance are investigated. These π‐extended oligomers possess broad and intense optical absorption covering the range from 550 to 750 nm, narrow optical bandgaps of 1.52–1.69 eV, and relatively low‐lying highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) energy levels ranging from ?5.24 to ?5.46 eV in their thin films. A high power conversion efficiency of 5.9% under simulated AM 1.5G illumination is achieved for inverted organic solar cells based on a small‐molecule bulk‐heterojunction system consisting of a benzodithiophene‐diketopyrrolopyrrole‐containing oligomer as a donor and [6,6]‐phenyl‐C71‐butyric acid methyl ester (PC71BM) as an acceptor. Transmission electron microscopy and energy‐dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy reveal that interpenetrating and interconnected donor/acceptor domains with pronounced mesoscopic phase segregation are formed within the photoactive binary blends, which is ideal for efficient exciton dissociation and charge transport in the bulk‐heterojunction devices.  相似文献

Zn(II)–porphyrin sensitizers, coded as SGT‐020 and SGT‐021 , are designed and synthesized through donor structural engineering. The photovoltaic (PV) performances of SGT sensitizer‐based dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) are systematically evaluated in a thorough SM315 as a reference sensitizer. The effect of the donor ability and the donor bulkiness on photovoltaic performances is investigated for establishing the structure–performance relationship in the platform of porphyrin‐triple bond‐benzothiadiazole‐acceptor sensitizers. By introducing a more bulky fluorene unit to the amine group in the SM315 , the power conversion efficiency (PCE) is enhanced with the increased short‐circuit current (Jsc) and open‐circuit voltage (Voc), due to the improved light‐harvesting ability and the efficient prevention of charge recombination, respectively. As a consequence, a maximum PCE of 12.11% is obtained for SGT‐021 , whose PCE is much higher than the 11.70% PCE for SM315 . To further improve their maximum efficiency, the first parallel tandem DSSCs employing cobalt electrolyte in the top and bottom cells are demonstrated and an extremely high efficiency of 14% is achieved, which is currently the highest reported value for tandem DSSCs. The series tandem DSSCs give a remarkably high Voc value of >1.83 V. From this DSSC tandem configuration, 7.4% applied bias photon‐to‐current efficiency is achieved for solar water splitting.  相似文献

The clustering and diffusion of C71‐butyric acid methyl ester (PC71BM) in poly(3‐hexylthiophene) (P3HT) has been studied using single layer blend and bilayer organic field‐effect transistors (OFETs) and by atomic force microscopy (AFM). P3HT:PC71BM blend based OFETs were found to undergo phase‐segregation upon annealing, which was detectable as a fall in electron mobility with increasing annealing temperature. By employing carefully designed bilayer P3HT:PC71BM OFETs, the diffusion‐properties of PC71BM in P3HT could additionally be inferred from electron mobility measurements. It was found that the prerequisite annealing temperatures for detectable PC71BM clustering and diffusion in P3HT was approximately 20 °C higher than for PC61BM. The diffusion coefficient of PC61BM in P3HT was found to be several times higher that that of PC71BM. The present work provides unique insights into the diffusion process of fullerenes in conjugated polymers and could prove highly valuable for future materials development and device optimization.  相似文献

The addition of polystyrene (PS), a typical insulator, is empirically shown to increase the power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) of a solution‐deposited bulk heterojunction (BHJ) molecular blend film used in solar cell fabrication: p‐DTS(FBTTh2)2/PC71BM. The performance is further improved by small quantities of diiodooctane (DIO), an established solvent additive. In this study, how the addition of PS and DIO affects the film formation of this bulk heterojunction blend film are probed via in situ monitoring of absorbance, thickness, and crystallinity. PS and DIO additives are shown to promote donor crystallite formation on different time scales and through different mechanisms. PS‐containing films retain chlorobenzene solvent, extending evaporation time and promoting phase separation earlier in the casting process. This extended time is insufficient to attain the morphology for optimal PCE results before the film sets. Here is where the presence of DIO comes into play: its low vapor pressure further extends the time scale of film evolution and allows for crystalline rearrangement of the donor phase long after casting, ultimately leading to the best BHJ organization.  相似文献

A series of four new dyes, based on the D35 type donor moiety with varied linker units, is synthesized using a facile convergent/divergent method, enabled by an improved synthesis of the D35 donor. The dyes are evaluated in dye sensitized solar cells with Co(II/III)(bpy)3‐based electrolytes. By extending the linker fragment, higher photocurrents and solar energy conversion efficiencies are achieved. It is also found that the linker unit plays a crucial role in maintaining a high open‐circuit photovoltage. Based on the photovoltaic performance it is concluded that the hexylthiophene unit is the most suitable for this purpose, as it allows further enhancement of the already high open‐circuit voltage of D35 to 0.92 V. The best dye in this series reaches an efficiency of 6.8%.  相似文献

Solution and solution‐deposited thin films of the discotic liquid crystalline electron acceptor–donor–acceptor (A‐D‐A) p‐type organic semiconductor FHBC(TDPP)2, synthesized by coupling thienyl substituted diketopyrrolopyrrole (TDPP) onto a fluorenyl substituted hexa‐peri‐hexabenzocoronene (FHBC) core, are examined by ultrafast and nanosecond transient absorption spectroscopy, and time‐resolved photoluminescence studies to examine their ability to support singlet fission (SF). Grazing incidence wide‐angle X‐ray (GIWAX) studies indicate that as‐cast thin films of FHBC(TDPP)2 are “amorphous,” while hexagonal packed discotic liquid crystalline films evolve during thermal annealing. SF in as‐cast thin films is observed with an ≈150% triplet generation yield. Thermally annealing the thin films improves SF yields up to 170%. The as‐cast thin films show no long‐range order, indicating a new class of SF material where the requirement for local order and strong near neighbor coupling has been removed. Generation of long‐lived triplets (µs) suggests that these materials may also be suitable for inclusion in organic solar cells to enhance performance.  相似文献

The bulk‐heterojunction nanostructure of non‐crystalline polymer:fullerene blends has the tendency to rapidly coarsen when heated above its glass transition temperature, which represents an important degradation mechanism. We demonstrate that fullerene nucleating agents can be used to thermally arrest the nanostructure of photovoltaic blends that comprise a non‐crystalline thiophene‐quinoxaline copolymer and the widely used fullerene derivative [6,6]‐phenyl‐C61‐butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM). To this end, C60 fullerene is employed to efficiently nucleate PCBM crystallization. Sub‐micrometer‐sized fullerene crystals are formed when as little as 2 wt% C60 with respect to PCBM is added to the blend. These reach an average size of only 200 nanometers upon introduction of more than 8 wt% C60. Solar cells based on C60‐nucleated blends indicate significantly improved thermal stability of the bulk‐heterojunction nanostructure even after annealing at an elevated temperature of 130 °C, which lies above the glass transition temperature of the blend. Moreover, we find that various other compounds, including C70 fullerene, single‐walled carbon nanotubes, and sodium benzoate, as well as a number of commercial nucleating agents—commonly used to clarify isotactic polypropylene—permit to control crystallization of the fullerene phase.  相似文献

High‐performance Cu2ZnSnS4 photovoltaic devices are demonstrated using electrodeposition of metal stacks and annealing of a CuZnSn precursor in a sulfur atmosphere. A champion electroplated Cu2ZnSnS4 solar cell achieves a power conversion efficiency of 7.3%, which is a record efficiency for electrodeposited Cu2ZnSnS4 solar devices. The device performance points to electrodeposition and annealing as a low‐cost and viable approach to earth‐abundant solar cell fabrication.  相似文献

Polymer solar cells (PSCs) are fabricated without solvent additives using a low‐bandgap polymer, PBDTTT‐C‐T, as the donor and [6,6]‐phenyl‐C61‐butyric‐acid‐methyl‐ester (PC61BM) as the acceptor. Donor‐acceptor blend and layer‐by‐layer (LL) solution process are used to form active layers. Relative to the blend devices, the LL devices exhibit stronger absorption, better vertical phase separation, higher hole and electron mobilities, and better charge extraction at correct electrodes. As a result, after thermal annealing the LL devices exhibit an average power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 6.86%, which is much higher than that of the blend devices (4.31%). The best PCE of the LL devices is 7.13%, which is the highest reported for LL processed PSCs and among the highest reported for PC61BM‐based single‐junction PSCs.  相似文献

Polymer aggregation plays a critical role in the miscibility of materials and the performance of all‐polymer solar cells (APSCs). However, many aspects of how polymer texturing and aggregation affect photoactive blend film microstructure and photovoltaic performance are poorly understood. Here the effects of aggregation in donor–acceptor blends are studied, in which the number‐average molecular weights (Mns) of both an amorphous donor polymer, poly[4,8‐bis(5‐(2‐ethylhexyl)thiophen‐2‐yl)benzo[1,2‐b;4,5‐b′]dithiophene‐2,6‐diyl‐alt‐(4‐(2‐ethylhexyl)‐3‐fluorothieno[3,4‐b]thiophene‐)‐2‐carboxylate‐2‐6‐diyl)] ( PBDTT‐FTTE ) and a semicrystalline acceptor polymer, poly{[N,N′‐bis(2‐octyldodecyl)naphthalene‐1,4,5,8‐bis(dicarboximide)‐2,6‐diyl]‐alt‐5,5′‐(2,2′‐bithiophene)} ( P(NDI2OD‐T2) ) are systematically varied. The photovoltaic performance is correlated with active layer microstructural and optoelectronic data acquired by in‐depth transmission electron microscopy, grazing incidence wide‐angle X‐ray scattering, thermal analysis, and optical spectroscopic measurements. Coarse‐grained modeling provides insight into the effects of polymer aggregation on the blend morphology. Notably, the computed average distance between the donor and the acceptor polymers correlates well with solar cell photovoltaic metrics such as short‐circuit current density (Jsc) and represents a useful index for understanding/predicting active layer blend material intermixing trends. Importantly, these results demonstrate that for polymers with different texturing tendencies (amorphous/semicrystalline), the key for optimal APSC performance, photovoltaic blend morphology can be controlled via both donor and acceptor polymer aggregation.  相似文献

To realize high power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) in green‐solvent‐processed all‐polymer solar cells (All‐PSCs), a long alkyl chain modified perylene diimide (PDI)‐based polymer acceptor PPDIODT with superior solubility in nonhalogenated solvents is synthesized. A properly matched PBDT‐TS1 is selected as the polymer donor due to the red‐shifted light absorption and low‐lying energy level in order to achieve the complementary absorption spectrum and matched energy level between polymer donor and polymer acceptor. By utilizing anisole as the processing solvent, an optimal efficiency of 5.43% is realized in PBDT‐TS1/PPDIODT‐based All‐PSC with conventional configuration, which is comparable with that of All‐PSCs processed by the widely used binary solvent. Due to the utilization of an inverted device configuration, the PCE is further increased to over 6.5% efficiency. Notably, the best‐performing PCE of 6.58% is the highest value for All‐PSCs employing PDI‐based polymer acceptors and green‐solvent‐processed All‐PSCs. The excellent photovoltaic performance is mainly attributed to a favorable vertical phase distribution, a higher exciton dissociation efficiency (Pdiss) in the blend film, and a higher electrode carrier collection efficiency. Overall, the combination of rational molecular designing, material selection, and device engineering will motivate the efficiency breakthrough in green‐solvent‐processed All‐PSCs.  相似文献

One of the most important factors that limits the efficiencies of bulk‐heterojunction organic solar cells (OSCs) is the modest open‐circuit voltage (Voc) due to their large voltage loss (Vloss) caused by significant nonradiative recombination loss. To boost the performance of OSCs toward their theoretical limit, developing high‐performance donor: acceptor systems featuring low Vloss with suppressed nonradiative recombination losses (<0.30 V) is desired. Herein, high performance OSCs based on a polymer donor benzodithiophene‐difluorobenzoxadiazole‐2‐decyltetradecyl (BDT‐ffBX‐DT) and perylenediimide‐based acceptors (PDI dimer with spirofluorene linker (SFPDI), PDI4, and PDI6) are reported which offer a high power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 7.5%, 56% external quantum efficiency associated with very high Voc (>1.10 V) and low Vloss (<0.60 V). A high Voc up to 1.23 V is achieved, which is among the highest values reported for OSCs with a PCE beyond 6%, to date. These attractive results are benefit from the suppressed nonradiative recombination voltage loss, which is as low as 0.20 V. This value is the lowest value for OSCs so far and is comparable to high performance crystalline silicon and perovskite solar cells. These results show that OSCs have the potential to achieve comparable Voc and voltage loss as inorganic photovoltaic technologies.  相似文献

Efficient conventional bulk heterojunction (BHJ) perovskite hybrid solar cells (pero‐HSCs) solution‐processed from a composite of CH3NH3PbI3 mixed with PC61BM ([6,6]‐phenyl‐C61‐butyric acid methyl ester), where CH3NH3PbI3 acts as the electron donor and PC61BM acts as the electron acceptor, are reported for the first time. The efficiency of 12.78% is twofold enhancement in comparison with the conventional planar heterojunction pero‐HSCs (6.90%) fabricated by pristine CH3NH3PbI3. The BHJ pero‐HSCs are further optimized by using PC61BM/TiO2 bi‐electron‐extraction‐layer (EEL), which are both solution‐processed and then followed with low‐temperature thermal annealing. Due to higher electrical conductivity of PC61BM over that of TiO2, an efficiency of 14.98%, the highest reported efficiency for the pero‐HSCs without incorporating high‐temperature‐processed mesoporous TiO2 and Al2O3 as the EEL and insulating scaffold, is observed from PC61BM modified BHJ pero‐HSCs. Thus, the findings provide a simple way to approach high efficiency low‐cost pero‐HSCs.  相似文献

A new series of 4‐hexyl‐4H‐thieno[3,2‐b]indole (HxTI) based organic chromophores is developed by structural engineering of the electron donor (D) group in the D–HxTI–benzothiadiazole‐phenyl‐acceptor platform with different fluorenyl moieties, such as unsubstituted fluorenyl (SGT‐146) and hexyloxy (SGT‐147), decyloxy (SGT‐148) and hexyloxy‐phenyl substituted (SGT‐149) fluorenyl moieties. In comparison to a reference dye SGT‐137 with a biphenyl‐based donor, the effects of the donating ability and bulkiness of the fluorenyl based donor in this D–π–A‐structured platform on molecular properties and photovoltaic performance are investigated to establish the structure–property relationship. The photovoltaic performance of dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) is improved according to the bulkiness of the donor groups. As a result, the DSSCs based on SGT‐149 show high power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) of 11.7% and 10.0% with a [Co(bpy)3]2+/3+ (bpy = 2,2′‐bipyridine) and an I?/I3? redox electrolyte, respectively. Notably, the co‐sensitization of SGT‐149 with a SGT‐021 porphyrin dye by utilizing a simple “cocktail” method, exhibit state‐of‐the‐art PCEs of 14.2% and 11.6% with a [Co(bpy)3]2+/3+ and an I?/I3? redox electrolyte, respectively.  相似文献

The extension of a series of dithienopyrrole containing A‐D‐A oligothiophenes for application in solution‐processed bulk heterojunction solar cells is described. Using solvent vapor annealing, power conversion efficiencies up to 6.1% are obtained. Exposure of the photoactive layer to chloroform vapor results in increased absorption and ordering of the donor:acceptor blend, as is evident from UV‐vis absorption spectroscopy, X‐ray diffraction (XRD) spectroscopy, and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The type and position of the solubilizing alkyl chains influences the dissolution, optical, and packing properties of the oligomers. However, despite subtle differences in molecular structure, all electron donors could be implemented in solar cells demonstrating power conversion efficiencies between 4.4 and 6.1%. Upon further optimization of these in‐air, processed devices, it is expected that additional improvements in photovoltaic performance can be achieved.  相似文献

Understanding the morphology of polymer‐based bulk heterojunction (BHJ) solar cells is necessary to improve device efficiencies. Blends of a low‐bandgap silole‐containing conjugated polymer, poly[(4,4′‐bis(2‐ethylhexyl)dithieno[3,2‐b;2′,3′‐d]silole)‐2,6‐diyl‐alt‐(4,7‐bis(2‐thienyl)‐2,1,3‐benzothiadiazole)‐5,5′‐diyl] (PSBTBT) with [6,6]phenyl‐C61‐butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) were investigated under different processing conditions. The surface morphologies and vertical segregation of the “As‐Spun”, “Pre‐Annealed”, and “Post‐Annealed” films were studied by scanning force microscopy, contact angle measurements, X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy, near‐edge X‐ray absorption fine structure spectroscopy, dynamic secondary ion mass spectrometry, and neutron reflectivity. The results showed that PSBTBT was enriched at the cathode interface in the “As‐Spun” films and thermal annealing increased the segregation of PSBTBT to the free surface, while thermal annealing after deposition of the cathode increased the PCBM concentration at the cathode interface. Grazing‐incidence X‐ray diffraction and small‐angle neutron scattering showed that the crystallization of PSBTBT and segregation of PCBM occurred during spin coating, and thermal annealing increased the ordering of PSBTBT and enhanced the segregation of the PCBM, forming domains ~10 nm in size, leading to an improvement in photovoltaic performance.  相似文献
