Freshly fertilized ova, eyed ova and yolk-sac fry of brown trout, Salmo trutta L., were exposed to each of four trace metals (aluminium: 6000 nmol l?1; copper: 80 nmol l?1; lead: 50 nmol l?1; zinc: 300 nmol l?1) while held in flowing artificial soft-water media maintained at pH 4.5 or 5.6 and [Ca] 20 or 200 μmol l?1. In continuous exposure from fertilization, survival of ova was severely affected at pH 4.5 and [Ca] 20 μmol l?1, regardless of the presence of Cu, Pb or Zn; Al reduced embryonic mortality and improved hatching success. High ambient [Ca] at pH 4.5 increased egg survival. At ‘swim-up’, surviving fry exposed to Al or Pb had lower whole body Ca, Na and K content, irrespective of pH or ambient [Ca]. Cu reduced whole body Ca and K content at pH 5.6 and [Ca] 200 μmol?1, and whole body Ca, Na and K content in the other media. Zn reduced whole body mineral content at pH 5.6 and [Ca] 20 μmol l?1. Whole body Mg content was reduced by all trace metals at pH 5.6 and [Ca] 20 μmol l?1, and by Cu at pH 5.6 and [Ca] 200 μmol l?1. Al and Cu impaired skeletal calcification at pH 5.6 at both ambient [Ca]; Pb only at [Ca] 20 μmol I?1. Zn enhanced calcification at pH 4.5 and [Ca] 200 μmol l?1. In the absence of trace metals, low pH reduced body Ca, Na, K content and skeletal calcification at [Ca] 200 μmol l?1. The uptake of Ca, Na and K, measured at regular intervals from hatching was impaired to the same extent by all treatments at pH 4.5, irrespective of ambient [Ca] or trace metal presence. At pH 5.6, irrespective of ambient [Ca], Al, Cu and Pb impaired Ca and K uptake. The rate of Na uptake was reduced by Al and Cu. Al-treated yolk-sac fry, exposed to low ambient [Ca] from 200–300° days post-hatch, suffered high mortalities regardless of pH. Ca, Na and K uptake was impaired by all treatments at pH 4.5, and by Al and Cu at pH 5.6 in a similar exposure period. The development of the early stages of brown trout in the presence of trace metals is discussed in relation to recruitment failure in areas of soft, acid water.  相似文献

Abstract Growth of barley (Hordeum vulgare L., cv. Georgie) was insensitive to soil K content above about 150 mg kg?1, but at lower levels it declined. The reduction in yield was greater in soils containing approximately 10 mg Na kg?1 than in soils with about 90 mg kg?1 of Na. Growth was unaffected by changes in shoot K concentration above 75 mol m?3, but declined at lower concentrations, and the decrease was less in plants grown in soils with high Na. Growth responses were not simply related to tissue K concentrations because plants grown in soils with extra Na had higher yields but lower K concentrations. When soil Na was low, plants accumulated Ca as tissue K declined, but when Na was provided this ion was accumulated. Plant Mg concentrations were generally low but increased as K decreased. The Ca and Mg were osmotically active. There were highly significant inverse linear relationships between yield and either the Ca or Mg concentrations in the shoots. X-ray microanalysis was used to examine the compartmentation of cations in leaves from barley plants (cv. Clipper) grown in nutrient solutions with high and low K concentrations. In plants grown with 2.5 mol m?3 K, this was the major cation in both the cytoplasm and vacuole of mesophyll cells. However, in plants grown with 0.02 mol m?3 K it declined to undetectable levels in the vacuole, although it was still detectable in the cytoplasm. In all plants, Ca was mainly located in epidermal cells. The implication of the results for explaining responses to K. in terms of compartmentation of solutes is discussed.  相似文献

This paper evaluates the total biomass and pools of major nutrients and ecologically important metals of the tree layer in the catchment of Ple?né jezero (PL) in the Bohemian Forest (?umava, Czech Republic), and compares them to analogous data on understory vegetation and soils. The results are based on field measurements and semi-automatic image analyses of aerial orthophotographs. The tree layer was relatively sparse with open canopy in some parts of the catchment. Stand density varied between 44 and 328 individuals per hectare. The catchment weighted mean total biomass of trees was 134 t ha?1 dry weight, of which needles, branches, roots, and stems represented 5%, 10%, 14%, and 71%, respectively. The stem wood and bark represented 67% and 4%, respectively, of the total tree biomass. The catchment weighted mean element pools were 568 and 3.0 mol m?2 (i.e., 68 and 0.42 t ha?1) for C and N, respectively. The other pools were 76 mmol P m?2, 602 mmol Ca m?2, 133 mmol Mg m?2, 39 mmol Na m?2, 347 mmol K m?2, 19 mmol Al m?2, 6.2 mmol Fe m?2, and 35 mmol Mn m?2. The element pools accumulated in the tree biomass represented from < 1% (Al, Fe) to 37% (C) of their total pools (soil + tree layer + understory vegetation) in the catchment. Pools of Ca and Mg in the tree biomass were similar to their exchangeable pools in the catchment soils, while those of K were 3 times higher. Nutrient (N, P, Ca, Mg, and K) and C pools in the tree biomass were 2–11 times higher than those in the understory vegetation, with the minimum for P and maximum for C.  相似文献

To assess the susceptibility of the base metal budget of a remote tropical montane forest in Ecuador to environmental change, we determined the extent of biological control of base metal fluxes and explored the impact of atmospheric inputs and precipitation, considered as potential drivers of ecosystem change, on the base metal fluxes. We quantified all major base metal fluxes in a ca. 9.1 ha forested catchment from 1998 to 2013. Mean (±s.d.) annual flux to the soil via throughfall + stemflow + litterfall was 13800 ± 1500 mg m?2 Ca, 19000 ± 1510 mg m?2 K, 4690 ± 619 mg m?2 Mg and 846 ± 592 mg m?2 Na of which 22 ± 6, 45 ± 16, 39 ± 10 and 84 ± 33%, respectively, were leached to below the organic layer. The mineral soil retained 79–94% of this Ca, K and Mg, while Na was released. Weathering rates estimated with three different approaches ranged from not detected (ND) to 504 mg m?2 year?1 Ca, ND-1770 mg m?2 year?1 K, 287–597 mg m?2 year?1 Mg and 403–540 mg m?2 year?1 Na. The size of mainly biologically controlled aboveground fluxes of Ca, K and Mg was 1–2 orders of magnitude larger than that of mainly geochemically controlled fluxes (sorption to soil and weathering). The elemental catchment budgets (total deposition ? streamflow) were positive for Ca (574 ± 893 mg m?2) and K (1330 ± 773 mg m?2), negative for Na (?370 ± 1300 mg m?2) and neutral for Mg (1.89 ± 304 mg m?2). Our results demonstrate that biological processes controlled element retention for Ca, K and Mg in the biological part of the ecosystem. This was different for Na, which was mainly released by weathering from the study catchment, while the biological part of the ecosystem was Na-poor. The deposition of base metals was the strongest driver of their budgets suggesting that the base metal cycling of the study ecosystem is susceptible to changing deposition.  相似文献

This paper presents data on species composition, biomass, and element pools (C, N, P, Ca, Mg, Na, K, Al, Fe, Mn) of the understory vegetation of spruce forests in the catchments of lakes ?ertovo jezero (CT) and Ple?né jezero (PL) in the Bohemian Forest (?umava, Czech Republic). Calamagrostis villosa was the most abundant species in the CT catchment, while Vaccinium myrtillus was the most abundant species in the PL catchment. The catchments weighted mean (CWM) of above-ground biomass of the understory vegetation was 288 and 723 g m?2 in the CT and PL catchments, respectively. The significant difference in the biomass between the catchments was caused by the much higher abundance of V. myrtillus in the PL catchment. The CWM of below-ground biomass of the fine roots was 491 and 483 g m?2 in the CT and PL catchments, respectively. The respective CWM element pools of biomass in the CT and PL catchments were: C (33 and 51 mol m?2), N (0.8 and 1.0 mol m?2), P (24 and 34 mmol m?2), Ca (53 and 113 mmol m?2), Mg (24 and 41mmol m?2), Na (3.7 and 6.5 mmol m?2), K (83 and 109 mmol m?2), Al (50 and 42 mmol m?2), Fe (13.3 and 7.3 mmol m?2), and Mn (4.2 and 8.8 mmol m?2).  相似文献

Atmospheric inputs of elements/ions into the soil through bulk precipitation and throughfall (precipitation below tree canopies) were monitored monthly at two forested catchments (Lesni Potok and Liz) in central and southwestern Bohemia, respectively. The annual deposition fluxes (expressed in μg/mg m?2 yr?1) of Al, As, Ba, Be, Ca, Cd, Cl?, F?, Fe, K, Mg, Mn, Ntot, Na, Ni, Pb, Rb, SO 4 2? , Sr and Zn between 1997 and 2005 were calculated from their concentrations in monthly collected samples of both precipitation types. The flux of H+ was calculated from the monthly pH values as well. The more pristine character of the Liz catchment was manifested in lower inputs of anions of strong inorganic acids (mostly of anthropogenic origin) and of H+ in spite of higher precipitation amounts at the site. The comparison of fluxes in bulk precipitation (BP) and throughfall (TH) has shown significantly higher values for Rb, K, Mg, Mn, F?, Ca, SO 4 2? , Sr, Ba and Cl? in the latter flux. It is declared that high fluxes of these elements/ions in TH significantly affect the forest soil water chemistry and that the forest vegetation significantly contributes to the mobilization of several elements in soil and to their redistribution throughout the soil profile.  相似文献

The exposure of red beet root tissue to ultraviolet (254 nm) at 2 × 106 erg × cm?2× min?1 (0.2 J × cm?2× min?1) causes release of betacyanin after a 20 minute induction period. Ultraviolet-photolysis is temperature-sensitive having a thermal threshold at about 10°C. Reduction in pigment release was effected by chlorides of Mg, Ca and Sr, but not by Li, Na or K. This effect was marked but not complete, even at 40 mM concentration. It is concluded that photolysis is indirect, and involves a lytic factor, possibly an oxidant, derived from an original photochemical product.  相似文献

The characteristics of the contents of 20 elements (Al, Fe, Mn, Ca, Mg, K, S, Si, P, Cd, Cu, Zn, Ti, Ni, Sr, Mo, Na, B, Cr, V) in 16 plant species collected from the Three Gorges Region in China were investigated. The average contents of Ca, K and Mg were higher than 1 000 μg·g-1, that of Al, P, Si, Fe, S and Mn ranged between 100—1 000 μg·g-1 and Ti, Cu, Ni, Cr, Mo, Cd and V were less than 10 μg·g- 1. The level of Na content was less than that of the reported. The main character of the element contents was of the Ca> K type. The contents of P, S, Ca and K in different plant samples showed a normal distribution pattern, while Al and Mn showed a elements lognormal distribution pattern. Plant species differed greatly in the element contents. On analyzing the coefficient of variation (C. V., % ), Al, Mn, Mg, Ni, Sr and Fe had higher C.V., while the C.V. of K, S, P, Cr, Cd and Cu was less than 60%, and Cu had the lowest C.V. The correlations between Al and Fe, Al and Ti, Al and Cr, A1 and V, Cd and Sr, Cd and Mo, Fe and V, Zn and Cr, Ni and Sr, Mg and Ni, Mo and Sr, Ca and Sr, Cr and Mo, Na and Mg, Na and P, P and S were statistically significant in different plant species. The classification of the 16 plant species and 20 dements by two-way indicator species analysis (TWINSPAN) method may suggest the difference in dement contents of the different plant species.  相似文献

Abstract The comparative Na+ tolerance of Chora buckellii cultured in freshwater (FW) or artificial Waldsea water (AWW, which contains about 110 mol m?3 each Na +, Mg2+, Cl? and SO2-4 was tested with respect to the external Na+ to Ca2+ ratio (Na: Ca). Fifty per cent of FW cells subjected to 70 mol m?3 NaCl, which raised Na:Ca from 10: 1 to 700: 1 and the external osmotic pressure from 0.024 to 0.402 MPa, died within 6 d. Death was associated with the loss of Na/K selectivity, H+ -pump activity and turgor. Restoration of Na:Ca to 10:1 in high Na+ medium with CaCl2 ensured 100% survival and maintained H+-pump activity and Na/K selectivity of FW cells. Turgor was regulated within 3 d with net uptake of Na +, K+ and Cl? in the vacuolc. Mg2+ was not as effective as Ca2+ in enhancing survival or maintaining H+ -pump activity and Na/K selectivity of FW cells in the presence of elevated Na+. However, turgor was regulated within 3 d by accumulation of Cl? and an unknown cation in the vacuole. All AWW cells subjected to an increase of 70 mol m ?3 NaCl, which raised Na: Ca from 16:1 to 25: 1 and the external osmotic pressure from 0.915 to 1.22 MPa, survived and maintained H + -pump activity. Turgor was regulated within 6d by accumulating Na +, K+ and Cl? in the vacuole. All AWW cells subjected to 70molm?3 NaCl in a medium in which Na:Ca was equal to 700:1 survived and maintained H + -pump activity, but showed loss of Na/K selectivity. Turgor was regulated with an unknown osmoticum(a) within 6 d.  相似文献

Effects of salt stress on purslane (Portulaca oleracea) nutrition   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The objective of this study was to determine the influence of saline stress on the chemical composition of purslane (Portulaca oleracea), in particular the mineral composition. Four salinity levels were investigated using irrigation solutions with electrical conductivity values of 0.8, 6.8, 12.8 and 24.2 dS m?1 and two planting dates (May and July) were tested. Samples of full‐grown leaf and stems of purslane were harvested after 7 and 15 days of the saline treatment exposure. Chemical analysis (dry matter basis) of leaves showed significant differences among the different saline treatments for all the characteristics measured. Salinity levels, planting date and harvest time significantly influenced (P < 0.05) the levels of crude protein, total lipids, ash and carbohydrate content. Salinity treatments did not significantly (P > 0.05) affect the water content of purslane leaves. The crude protein content of purslane leaves decreased with increasing salinity levels and time of exposure to treatment. However, carbohydrates and mineral residue content increased. An unusual phenomenon was noted for intermediate salinity levels, whereby an increase in total lipid content was measured in leaves of plants exposed to salinity treatments of 6.8 and 12.8 dS m?1. The highest mineral residue content was seen in leaves of purslane exposed to the highest salinity treatment. The mineral composition was also affected by salinity levels, Na and Cl uptake, and accumulation increased with increasing salinity in irrigation solution; Mg concentration was not significantly (P > 0.05) affected by salinity levels, although a slight increase was seen, and Ca, K and Zn levels significantly (P < 0.05) decreased. Ca and Zn preferentially accumulated in the leaves, while K and Na values were higher in the stems. A significant increase (P < 0.05) in relative ratio of Na/K, Mg/K, Na/Ca and Mg/Ca was observed with increasing salinity levels. A decrease in the yield of purslane was only observed for the most severe saline treatment, where the highest ratio of Mg/Ca was seen. This study reveals that purslane is relatively tolerant to conditions of moderate salinity, thus improving its potential to become a key vegetable crop for animal and human consumption.  相似文献

We investigated how the K/Ca, Na/Ca, Mg/Ca, and Sr/Ca ratios of powders ground from Porites coral skeletons are changed by cumulative chemical treatments to the powders: first with distilled/deionized water (DDW), next with 30?% H2O2 and then with 0.004?mol?l?1 HNO3. The K/Ca, Na/Ca, and Mg/Ca ratios were decreased with the DDW treatment and then increased with the H2O2 and HNO3 treatments; the Sr/Ca ratio was slightly decreased through the cumulative treatments, suggesting fine-scale (tens of ??m or less) elemental heterogeneities in the skeleton??K, Na, and Mg are significantly enriched at the skeletal surface and also at the center of calcification (COC); in contrast, the heterogeneity of Sr is very small. We suggest that the principal mechanisms of K incorporation into coral skeleton are (1) ion incorporation into lattice defects/distortions and (2) ion adsorption onto crystal discontinuities (including crystal?Corganic matter interfaces) as forms of K+ and KSO4 ?. Furthermore, we measured the element/Ca ratios of a modern Porites coral skeleton along its growth direction at 2-mm intervals. Results showed that all the element/Ca ratios displayed annual cycles, that the K/Ca and Na/Ca ratios covaried with each other, and that the annual-minimum K/Ca and Na/Ca ratios coincided with the annual high-density band in the skeleton. It is unclear what environmental factors may cause the covarying annual cycles of the K/Ca and Na/Ca ratios; however, as a possible explanation, the cycles may be due not to environmental factors, but to a combined effect of (1) the K and Na enrichment at the COC, (2) annual bands of high- and low-density skeleton, and (3) mm-scale element/Ca measurements along the skeletal growth direction. This kind of effect on geochemical proxies of which the concentrations significantly differ between the COC and surrounding skeleton may generate false or distorted paleoenvironmental signals.  相似文献

Leccinum scabrum sporocarps and associated topsoils from two areas in Poland have been characterized for contents and bioconcentration potential of Ag, Al, Ba, Ca, Cd, Co, Cu, Fe, Hg, K, Mg, Mn, Na, Ni, P, Pb, Rb, Sr and Zn. Topsoil and fruitbody element composition varied between the two study sites, most likely as a result of local soil geochemistry. Element content of the labile fraction in topsoil from both sites followed the ‘pseudo‐total’ fraction and median values (mg kg?1 dry matter) were: K 380 and 340, Mg 760 and 840, P 1100 and 920, Al 3800 and 8100, Ag 0.31 and 0.28, Ba 28 and 37, Ca 920 and 790, Cd 0.23 and 0.23, Co 2.0 and 1.7, Cu 3.2 and 3.6, Fe 2800 and 6300, Mn 280 and 180, Na 99 and 110, Ni 7.8 and 8.8, Pb 12 and 18, Rb 1.3 and 2.1, Sr 4.8 and 4.0 and Zn 22 and 19, respectively. Only for some elements such as K, Mg, Al, Ag, Ca, Co, Mn, Na, Ni, Sr and Zn we found concentration differences between the two study sites for the caps of sporocarps. With the exception of Al, Mn, Na and Pb, stipes showed a similar tendency. Caps had a higher concentration of K, Rb, P, Mg, Al, Ag, Cu, Fe, Zn, Cd, Pb and Ni compared to stipes, while Na, Ba and Sr contents were higher in stipes. The comparison of soil and fruitbody concentrations indicates that L. scabrum bioconcentrate some elements while others are bioexcluded.  相似文献

Summary The accession and cycling of elements in a 14-year-old coastal stand ofPinus radiata D. Don was measured for one year. The element contents (mg m–2 year–1) of bulk precipitation and throughfall respectively were: NO3–N 41, 12; NH4–N 133, 154; organic-N 157, 396; Na 4420, 9700; K 387, 2900; Ca 351, 701; Mg 486, 1320. Of the increase in element content of rainwater beneath the forest canopy 20% (NH4–N), 70% (organic-N), 3% (Na), 90% (K), 20% (Ca) and 30% (Mg) was attributed to leaching; the remainder to washing of aerosols filtered from the atmosphere by the vegetation. The canopy absorbed approximately 40 mg m–2 year–1 of NO3–N. Litterfall was the major pathway for the above-ground biogeochemical cycle of N (93%), Ca (96%) and Mg (74%), and leaching was the major (73%) pathway for K.  相似文献

Some properties of wheat germ lipase were determined with a fluorometric assay of enzymatic cleavage converting the nonfluorescent 4-methyl umbelliferone butyrate (4-MUB) to the highly fluorescent 4-methyl umbelliferone (4-MU). Optimum reaction conditions were attained at buffer pH 7·5 and temperature 30°. Lineweaver-Burk plots were linear. Relative cation combination effectiveness as reaction activators was Ca + Mg + K > Ca + Mg + K + Na > Ca + Mg + Na > Ca + Mg > Mg > Ca, with no reaction effects of K, Na, and K + Na without Ca or Mg. Highly significant inhibitors of lipase reaction were CN, aflatoxin, Cu2+, Fe3+, S2−, and EDTA.  相似文献

Abstract

This study investigated the airborne concentration of PM10 and 20 trace elements (Al, As, Ba, Ca, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, K, Mg, Mn, Mo, Na, Ni, Na, Pb, Ti, V, Zn) in residential, industry, traffic road, coal mining, thermal power plant area of Bac Giang province. The average PM10 concentration was highest at coal site, followed by traffic 1 sites, industrial sites and traffic 2 sites, the residential sites, and lowest at the power plant site located in mountain area. While Al, Ca, Fe, K, Mg, Na were the most abundant elements in all sampling sites, accounting for 73–96% of total obtained elements, the concentration of As, Cd, Cr, Cu, Mn, Ni, Pb, V, and Zn occupied from 2.9 to 23.2%. Noticeably, the concentrations of Cd were from 7 to 65 times higher than the concentration limit for Cd (0.1?ng/m3) according the World Health Organization (WHO). Although, the Hazard Index (HI values) of all metals were found to be within the safe level for both children and adults, the Carcinogenic Risk (CR) of Cr and As in all sites were closed to the acceptable levels for children, implying a potential carcinogenic risks of these metals.  相似文献

Background and aims

Close regulation of cellular Ca in roots is required in the face of marked changes in soil solution Ca over time and space. This study’s aims were to quantify and gain insights into the ways in which roots respond to changes in solution Ca.

Methods

Root elongation rate (RER) of cowpea (Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp.) seedlings was determined at 0.05 to 15 mM Ca for up to 24 h both without and with added K, Mg, or Na. Root tip concentrations of Ca, K, Mg, and Na were determined and binding of cations by root tips estimated by subsequent Cu sorption.

Results

Transfer from higher to lower Ca solutions (and with added K at high Ca) resulted in RER?≥?2 mm h?1 within minutes. This was attributed to greater cell wall relaxation through lower Ca binding aided by a decrease to pH?≤?5.1 in solution. Transfer to higher Ca solutions, which remained at ~pH 5.6, led to an equally rapid decrease in RER to ~0.5 mm h?1, an effect ascribed to greater cell wall binding of Ca. Thereafter, a gradual increase in RER to ~1.8 mm h?1 occurred over 24 h, an effect likely due to reduced cell wall Ca binding as shown by decreasing Cu sorption at a rate of 0.027 mmol Cu kg?1 FM h?1 over 24 h.

Conclusion

The kinetics of changes in RER and cations in root tips suggest that roots respond to changes in solution Ca through effects on cell wall relaxation of the rhizodermis and outer cortex in the elongation zone.  相似文献

Conversion of native savanna in Brazil, the Cerrado, to agri- and silvicultural land use causes changes in metal storages of the ecosystems. To evaluate the sustainability of land use these changes have to be known. Therefore, we examined the Al, Ca, Fe, K, Mg, Mn, Na, and Zn storages in above- and belowground biomass, the organic layer, and the top 2 m of the mineral soil (Anionic Acrustoxes) of three replicate plots in each of six native and land-use systems. The systems were native Cerrado, Pinus caribaea Morelet plantations, productive and degraded Brachiaria decumbens Stapf pastures, and conventional and no-tillage soybean cultivation. The total metal storage varied little among the studied systems except for Ca, K, and Mg. All land-use systems had larger Ca storages (cropping systems 202–205 g m–2, productive pasture: 112, degraded pasture: 84, Pinus: 81) than the Cerrado (62 g m–2). The K storage was smaller in the pastures (17–18 g m–2) than in Cerrado and Pinus stands (22–24) and largest in the cropping systems (26). The Mg storages were largest in the cropping systems (65–69) and productive pasture (59 g m–2); those in the Pinus stands (52), the degraded pasture (51), and the Cerrado (53) were similar. For most metals, the aboveground biomass contained up to 1% of the total storage including the top 2 m of the soil (<5% if the lower ecosystem boundary was set at 0.3 m soil depth). However, the aboveground biomass stored up to 12% of Ca, K, and Mg down to 2 m soil depth (41% if the lower ecosystem boundary was set at 0.3 m soil depth). In the Pinus stands, the storage of most metals was larger in the below- than in the aboveground biomass; for the other systems the reverse was true. Metal storages in soil were little affected by land use except that liming resulted in increased Ca and Mg storages in the topsoil. The comparison between known inputs of Ca, K, and Mg and mean annual change rates of their storages revealed that there were considerable base metal losses by leaching, grazing, and removal with the harvest. After 12–20 years, the land-use impact on metal storages is restricted to Ca, Mg, and K. Generally, all land-use systems tend to be richer in these nutrients except for the significant depletion in K of the pastures.  相似文献

Effect of lanthanum on ion absorption in cucumber seedling leaves   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
Scanning electron microscope and energy-dispersive X-ray analysis were used to study the tissular distributions of elements Na, Mg, Cl, K, Ca, Mn, and Fe in leaves of cucumber seedlings in the absence or presence of La3+. The results showed that the atomic percentages of Na, Mg, Cl, K, and Ca were basically reduced and those of Mn and Fe were increased in the presence of La3+; in addition, at 0.02 mM La3+, the reduced or increased degrees were higher than those at 2.0 mM La3+. The effects of La3+ on ion absorption were similar to those of Ca2+, suggesting that the rare earth element lanthanum affects the plant physiological mechanism by regulating the Ca2+ level in plant cell.  相似文献

A new methodological approach is described for estimating Ca, Mg and K fluxes from soil mineral weathering. This method combines Na flux in surface waters in the Hermine watershed with base cation (BC) concentrations to Na molar ratios from the soil weatherable pool obtained using sequential extraction method. Comparison of BC:Na molar ratios of the weatherable pool with those from other compartments of the watershed suggests possible accumulation of base cations in some areas of the watershed, while losses or minimal changes are observed in others. On average, present day Na weathering rates estimated using the watershed input–output budget method was 0.26 (range 0.16–0.36) kmolc ha?1 yearr?1, over the period of 1995–2006. For Ca, Mg and K, present day weathering rates estimated with the new methodological approach averaged 0.44 (range 0.27–0.60), 0.11 (range 0.07–0.15) and 0.02 (range 0.01–0.02) kmolc ha?1 year?1, respectively. These values are within the range of present day rates previously calculated for the same site and for forested soils from similar granitic environments using other methods. Candidate models for predicting BC weathering rates on individual annual observations were developed using Akaike’s information criterion. The best model includes the number of frost days (inverse relationship) and explained 51% of the variation in total BC weathering rates. The newly developed method may be applicable to other watersheds, providing yearly estimates of nutrient BC at the watershed scale.  相似文献

This study estimated the decomposition rate and nutrient dynamics of Phragmites australis litter in Lake Burullus (Egypt) and investigated the amount of nutrients released back into the water after the decomposition of the dead tissues. Phragmites australis detritus decomposition was studied from April to September 2003 utilizing the leaf, stem, and rhizome litterbags technique with coarse mesh (5 mm) bags on five sampling dates and with nine replicate packs per sample. All samples were dried, weighed and analyzed for N, P, Ca, Mg, Na, and K concentrations. The exponential breakdown rate of leaves (?0.0117/day) was significantly higher than that of rhizomes (?0.0040/day) and stems (?0.0036/day). N, Na and K mineralization were the highest from leaf litter, followed by rhizomes and stems, while P, Ca and Mg mineralization were the highest from rhizomes, followed by leaves and stems. The dead shoot biomass at the end of 2003 amounted to 4550 g DM/m2 which enters the decomposition process. By using the decay rate of 0.0117 and 0.0036/day for the leaves and stems, 3487 g DM/m2 is decomposed in a year, leaving only 1063 g DM/m2 after 1 year. This is mainly equivalent to releasing the following nutrients into surrounding water (in g/m2): 24.4 N, 1.1 P, 15.5 Ca, 3.5 Mg, 11.3 Na and 16.7 K. In conclusion, the present study indicates a significant difference in relation to the type of litter; these breakdown rates were generally greater than most rates reported in previous studies that used the same technique and mesh size.  相似文献
