The localization of actin in the cells of the pars intermedia of rat hypophysis was studied by means of the polyethylene glycol (PEG) embedding and subsequent de-embedding method together with FITC and IgG-colloidal gold immunolabelling techniques. Actin immunofluorescence was detected to be punctate throughout the entire cytoplasm, except for the nuclear region. In electron microscopy actin gold-labelling was localized on portions of microtrabeculae in close association with the secretory granules, but not within the secretory granules themselves. This close association of actin with the secretory granules strongly suggests the involvement of the contractile protein in the cellular secretory process. Several restrictions due to the PEG-method itself are also discussed to interpret clearly immunoelectron microscope images from the embedment-free sections.  相似文献

The intermediate and the neural lobe of the pituitary gland are innervated by two, virtually independent, groups of dopaminergic neurons which, until recently, were considered as a uniform system and referred to as the "tubero-hypophyseal dopamine system". Some aspects of the separate physiological functions of these neurons in the intermediate and in the neural lobe, of their microanatomy and biochemistry as well as of dopamine release from their terminals are discussed in this review.  相似文献

Summary The rostral zone of the intermediate lobe of the mouse hypophysis can clearly be distinguished from the other lobes of the adenohypophysis, especially from the pars tuberalis and the remainder of the intermediate lobe. It consists almost exclusively of corticotrophic cells which show reactive changes after adrenalectomy. The hypophysial stalk is entirely surrounded by this zone; laterally it forms large cell aggregations which extend dorsally as thin cell strands. The corticotrophs are also found within the hypophysial stalk which they invade along the blood vessels; frequently they are dispersed among the typical cells of the intermediate lobe, especially along the neural lobe and the hypophysial cleft.On leave from the Department of Veterinary Anatomy, University of Missouri, Columbia, Mo., U.S.A.  相似文献

This faunistic survey of Mexican Rotifera, covering 32 localities, mostly in Central Mexico, has yielded 96 taxa of which 41 are new to Mexican fauna. The zoogeographic status of the rotifer fauna of Mexico was reevaluated on the basis of the present data.  相似文献

Under study were histological changes resulting from rejection of adenohypophysis allotransplantat without special influence upon the recipient immunity. The allotransplantat rejection was established to be accompanied by pronounced morphological changes in the adenohypophysis. Delta-basophils were the first to loose their granules, and beta-basophils showed more moderate degranulation. Acidophils were preserved for a longer period. The chromophobes were more resistant cellular elements. Simultaneously the cells were dying at all stages of their conversion. The fibrous connective tissue alone was observed at the site of allotransplantat 32-35 days after transplantation.  相似文献

Summary Rhizosphere and soil counts of fungi aroundArtemisia herba alba grown in three localities in Tripoli have shown a rhizosphere effect. Counts from localities near the sea shore were higher than from areas a distant to the south. However, R/S ratios were almost the same in the three localities and on all the experimental agar media. Ten genera and 25 species commonly occurring in the rhizosphere or soil ofArtemisia could be identified. The order of occurrence for the chief genera of the rhizosphere ofArtemisia was the same in the three localities.  相似文献
