The stages in the metamorphosis of the pennellid Cardiodectes medusaeus (Wilson) are described from mid-water fishes in the Indo-Pacific. The earliest metamorphic stage was found within the body cavity of the second host and indicates a double origin for the frontal processes of the cephalic holdfast in this species. A new species of Lophoura (family Sphyriidae) is described from a single female taken from a deep-water synaphobranchid eel caught in the North Atlantic. The new species, L. simplex, is characterised by the lack of any neck processes. Another sphyriid, Periplexis lobodes Wilson, is reported for the second time. It was found on a deep-sea alepocephalid belonging to the genus Rouleina in Fijian waters.  相似文献

Two species of flabelliferan isopods are described based on specimens found in the gill cavities and/or body surfaces of 13 species of Thai inland fishes. They are: Alitropus typus Milne-Edwards, 1840 (Aegidae) from Belodontichthys dinema, Cirrhinus jullieni, Cyclocheilichthys enoplos, Cynoglossus microplepis, Hampala macrolepidota, Kryptopterus bleekeri, Mystus nemurus, Mystus wyckii, Pangasianodon gigas, Pangasius larnaudii, Puntius gonionotus and Wallagonia attu; and Corallana grandiventra n. sp. (Corallanidae) from Pangasianodon gigas and Tilapia nilogica. This report establishes the first true occurrence of Corallana in the inland water.  相似文献

A new species of parasitic copepod of the family Lernanthropidae is described from an immigrant population of the blotchfin dragonet Callionymus filamentosus Valenciennes (family Callionymidae) in the Eastern Mediterranean. Both sexes are described on the basis of material caught in Egyptian waters off the Alexandria coast at Abuqir. The new species shares with Lernanthropus breviculus Kabata, 1979 the possession of a small dorsal plate on the trunk that is so narrow at its origin that it does not overlap the bases of the fourth legs, which are therefore visible in dorsal view. These species differ in the shape of the cephalothorax and in the extent of the dorsal plate, which is shorter in the new species, revealing the caudal rami in dorsal view. Previous records of parasitic copepods utilising callionymids as hosts are reviewed: most belong to the families Pennellidae and Chondracanthidae.  相似文献

Lethal temperature of marine fishes of the Gulf of Thailand   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Twenty four marine fish species of the Gulf of Thailand were studied. The results suggested that increased acclimation temperature resulted in increased mean avoidance temperature (AT), critical thermal maximum (CTM) and upper incipient lethal temperature (UILT). At the acclimation temperature, which is normally the ambient seawater temperature of the Gulf of Thailand (28° C), the upper incipient lethal temperature ranged from 34° C to 37–5° C. Monocanthus chinensis and Cynoglosus puncticeps had the lowest thermal resistance. Mugil dussumerii, Therapon theraps and Scatophagus argus the highest and the rest in the middle range.  相似文献

Two species of parasitic copepods (Siphonostomatoida: Caligidae), Caligus sclerotinosus Roubal, Armitage & Rohde, 1983, parasitic on red seabream Pagrus major (Temminck & Schlegel), and Lepeophtheirus longiventralis Yü & Wu, 1932, parasitic on spotted halibut Verasper variegatus (Temminck & Schlegel), are redescribed based on material found on their respective hosts cultured in Japan. Both species are new to Japan. Preliminary observation on the occurrence of L. longiventralis indicates that the larval development takes place on the body surface of the host and only the post-mated female migrates into the host's gill-cavities. Whilst the occurrence of L. longiventralis in Japan can be considered as due to natural causes, the occurrence of C. sclerotinosus is likely due to anthropogenic activities.  相似文献

Two new species of parasitic Copepoda (Crustacea) are described and illustrated. Paeon australis n. sp. (Sphyriidae) is the first member of its genus discovered in Australian waters. It is parasitic on Rhinobates batillum, an elasmobranch fish. The other species, Lateracanthus curtus n. sp., is a parasite of an unspecified Macrourus, a deep-water teleost, taken in the northwestern Atlantic. The systematics of the genus Lateracanthus are discussed. Lateracanthus macrurus is relegated to the status of a species inquirenda.  相似文献

A new species of poecilostomatoid copepod, Ostrincola humesi (Myicolidae), is described, based on specimens collected from the mantle cavity of the rock oyster, Saccostrea cucullata (Born), cultured in the Gulf of Thailand. A close comparison was made between the new species and Ostrincola koe Tanaka with which the new species was previously confused. A key to the nine species of Ostrincola is provided.  相似文献

Six of the 10 recognised families of the order Cyclopoida are parasitic, with 4 of them occurring on marine invertebrates and the remaining 2 on freshwater gastropods and fishes, respectively. A cladistic analysis of the 10 families indicates that evolution of parasitism occurred twice in the history of the cyclopoids. The first attempt was made by the marine epibenthic ancestors seeking food and shelter in sessile tunicates — the ascidians. This event led to the evolution of 2 ascidicolous families: Archinotodelphyidae and Notodelphyidae. The descendant of this lineage had also invaded the mantle cavity of marine bivalve molluscs, eventually leading to the evolution of the Mantridae. The second attempt for the parasitic mode of life was launched by the ancestor which was the sister group of the ancestral cyclopoids — the most successful family of freshwater copepods. This ancestral stock, while living in the coastal zone, split into 2 groups: one group stayed behind in the ocean and colonised again the ascidians; the other groups invaded freshwater and evolved into the fish-parasitising Lernaeidae and the gastropod-parasitising Ozmanidae.  相似文献

A new species of siphonostomatoid copepod, Asterocheres crinoidicola, is parasitic on two closely related comasterid crinoids (Nemaster grandis and Davidaster rubiginosus) in Belize, Central America. An unusually long terminal prolongation of the third segment of the endopod of leg 1 distinguishes this species from all congeners. This is the first report of a copepod parasitic on a crinoid in the Caribbean.  相似文献

Umazuracola elongatus n. gen., n. sp., is described based on specimens collected from the body surface of the black scraper, Thamnaconus modestus (Günther), taken from the Seto Inland Sea in western Japan. The new species belongs to a new family of the copepod order Poecilostomatoida. It is characterised by the reduction of the maxilliped and leg 1 in females and modification in both sexes of legs 2, 3, and 4 into robust attachment organs, with heavy, denticulate outer spines. Although the antenna, mandible, maxillule, and maxilla of U. elongatus resemble those of species of the "bomolochiform complex", a cladistic analysis revealed that phylogenetically this species is embedded in a different clade containing the polychaete-parasitizing families Entobiidae Ho, 1984 and Nereicolidae Claus, 1875.  相似文献
