The influence of soda-anthraquinone pulping variables (temperature, time and soda concentration) and beating (number of PFI beating revolution) of palm oil empty fruit bunches (EFB) on the resulting paper sheets was studied, with a view to identifying the optimum operating conditions. Equations were derived that reproduced the properties of the paper sheets with errors less than 10-12% in 90-95% of cases. An optimum compromise was found as regards operating conditions (15% soda, 170 degrees C, 70 min and 2400 number of PFI beating revolutions) that provided paper properties departing by less than 12% from their optimum values (59.63 Nm/g tensile index, 4.48% stretch, 4.17 kN/g burst index and 7.20 m Nm(2)/g tear index), and a beating grade of 47.5 degrees SR, acceptable to obtain paper sheets. Because these conditions involve a lower soda, temperature, time and beating than those required to maximize the studied paper properties, they can save chemical reagents, energy and immobilized capital for industrial facilities. On the other hand, the stretch properties of these pulp beaten are higher than those of others non-wood pulps, as wheat straw and olive wood.  相似文献

This paper will consider the influence of the temperature of autohydrolysis or hydrothermal process from Paulownia fortunei L. to obtain a valuable liquid phase and a suitable solid phase to produce pulp. The solid phase resulting of autohydrolysis was subjected to organosolv pulping process and formed paper sheets, analyzing the influence of operational variables (viz., ethanol concentration, temperature and pulping time) on the yield, viscosity, tensile index, burst index, tear index and brightness. Maximum glucose and xylose contents and minimum paper sheets characteristic loss have been obtained at 190 degrees C authohydrolysis temperature. Suitable characteristics of paper sheets and acceptable yield, viscosity and kappa number of pulp could be obtained by operating at 180 degrees C temperature, 30min pulping time and 20% ethanol concentration. Under those conditions sheets paper with 27.4% ISO brightness, 28.87Nm/g tensile index, 1.22kPam(2)/g burst index and 1.23kNm(2)/g tear index could be obtained.  相似文献

The influence of independent variables in the pulping of wheat straw by use of an ethanol-acetone-water mixture [processing temperature and time, ethanol/(ethanol + acetone) value and (ethanol + acetone)/(ethanol + acetone + water) value] and of the number of PFI beating revolutions to which the pulp was subjected, on the properties of the resulting pulp (yield and Shopper-Riegler index) and of the paper sheets obtained from it (breaking length, stretch, burst index and tear index) was examined. By using a central composite factor design and the BMDP software suite, equations that relate each dependent variable to the different independent variables were obtained that reproduced the experimental results for the dependent variables with errors less than 30% at temperatures, times, ethanol/(ethanol + acetone) value, (ethanol + acetone)/(ethanol + acetone + water) value and numbers of PFI beating revolutions in the ranges 140-180 degrees C, 60-120 min, 25-75%, 35-75% and 0-1750, respectively. Using values of the independent variables over the variation ranges considered provided the following optimum values of the dependent variables: 78.17% (yield), 15.21 degrees SR (Shopper-Riegler index), 5265 m (breaking length), 1.94% (stretch), 2.53 kN/g (burst index) and 4.26 mN m2/g (tear index). Obtaining reasonably good paper sheets (with properties that differed by less than 15% from their optimum values except for the burst index, which was 28% lower) entailed using a temperature of 180 degrees C, an ethanol/(ethanol + acetone) value of 50%, an (ethanol + acetone)/(ethanol + acetone + water) value of 75%, a processing time of 60 min and a number of PFI beating revolutions of 1750. The yield was 32% lower under these conditions, however. A comparison of the results provided by ethanol, acetone and ethanol-acetone pulping revealed that the second and third process-which provided an increased yield were the best choices. On the other hand, if the pulp is to be refined, ethanol pulping is the process of choice.  相似文献

A normalized design was used to examine the influence of independent variables (alcohol concentration, cooking time and temperature) in the catalytic soda-ethanol pulping of rice straw on various mechanical properties (breaking length, burst, tear index and folding endurance) of paper sheets obtained from each pulping process. An equation of each dependent variable as a function of cooking variables (independent variables) was obtained by multiple non-linear regression using the least square method by MATLAB software for developing of empirical models. The ranges of alcohol concentration, cooking time and temperature were 40-65% (w/w), 150-180 min and 195-210 degrees C, respectively. Three-dimensional graphs of dependent variables were also plotted versus independent variables. The optimum values of breaking length, burst and tear index and folding endurance were 4683.7 (m), 30.99 (kN/g), 376.93 (mN m2/g) and 27.31, respectively. However, short cooking time (150 min), high ethanol concentration (65%) and high temperature (210 degrees C) could be used to produce papers with suitable burst and tear index. However, for papers with best breaking length and folding endurance low temperature (195 degrees C) was desirable. Differences between optimum values of dependent variables obtained by normalized design and experimental data were less than 20%.  相似文献

This study deals with pretreatment of wheat straw with lignin-degrading fungi and its effect on chemical pulping. Ceriporiopsis subvermispora strains, which preferentially attack the lignin, were used for biochemical pulping of bagasse. Treatment of depithed bagasse with different strains of C. subvermispora reduced the kappa number by 10-15% and increased unbleached pulp brightness by 1.1-2.0 ISO points on chemical pulping at the same alkali charge. Bleaching of biopulps at the same chemical charge increased final brightness by 4.7-5.6 ISO points and whiteness by 10.2-11.4 ISO points. Fungal treatment did not result in any adverse effect on the strength properties of pulp.  相似文献

The saccharification of the polysaccharides of barley, oat, and wheat straws and Solka Floc was studied using the extracellular enzyme system synthesized by mutant strain NTG III/6 of the fungus Penicillium pinophilum 87160iii. The enzymes obtained in cultures containing Solka Floc or barley straw as the carbon source were compared. Solka Floc at 10% (w/v) concentration was hydrolyzed to the extent of 70% in 72 h at 50 degrees C using a reaction mixture containing 7 filter paper units/mL of cellulase induced on Solka Floc, but hydrolysis was increased to 90% when the enzyme induced on barley straw was used. Under the same conditions, the polysaccharides in barley, oat, and wheat straws were hydrolyzed, respectively, in 72 h, to the extent of 42-48%, 62%, and 52%, but hydrolysis was increased to 93%, 100%, and 92%, respectively, after treatment of the substrates with alkaline-H(2)O(2) reagent at room temperature.  相似文献

The aim of this work was to study the effect of adding PS, AQ and NaBH(4) into kraft pulping with special attention given to NaBH(4). Kraft, kraft-AQ, PS, and kraft-NaBH(4) pulps were produced under the same cooking conditions and the pulps produced were compared in terms of pulp and paper properties. Kraft method was modified by adding 0.1% AQ, 4% PS and 2% and 4% NaBH(4) and the resultant pulps displayed an increase in pulp yield and reduction in both kappa number and screening rejects. On the other hand, there observed an increase in both pulp yield and kappa number when the kraft was modified to PS method. The benefits of NaBH(4) addition into kraft pulping was a significant reduction in kappa number and screening rejects and a significant increase in pulp yield. The most notable outcome of NaBH(4) was 66.6% increase in pulp brightness when 4% NaBH(4) was added into kraft pulping. Of unrefined pulps, unrefined kraft pulp displayed the highest strength of pulp, which is described as tear index at a constant tensile index. Of refined pulps, kraft-AQ showed the highest pulp strength when refined to 6000 and 12,000 revs in PFI mill.  相似文献

In the organosolv pulping of the oil palm fronds, the influence of the operational variables of the pulping reactor (viz. cooking temperature and time, ethanol and NaOH concentration) on the properties of the resulting pulp (yield and kappa number) and paper sheets (tensile index and tear index) was investigated using a wavelet neural network model. The experimental results with error less than 0.0965 (in terms of MSE) were produced, and were then compared with those obtained from the response surface methodology. Performance assessment indicated that the neural network model possessed superior predictive ability than the polynomial model, since a very close agreement between the experimental and the predicted values was obtained.  相似文献

Summary Non-woody fibers such as from Mitsumata (Edgeworthia papyrifera Sieb et Zucc.) bast were successfully macerated with an alkalophilic Bacillus. This made it possible to prepare pulp sheets without fibrillization by beating. Effect of previous crops on the incidence of eyespot on winter wheat   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
Surveys of winter wheat from 1939 to 1946 show that eyespot (Cercosporella herpotrichoides Fron.) occurs throughout Britain and that its incidence depends largely on previous cropping and on weather. Examination of 551 crops on land whose cropping for the previous 4 years was known showed that the incidence rose steadily with increasing numbers of preceding wheat and barley crops: where neither crop had been taken for 4 years the proportion of crops with more than 70% infected straws was 2%, rising to 45% where three or four such crops had been taken and the average straws infected rose from 6 to 55%.
The percentage infection to be expected in various groups of crops was calculated from previous cropping; it was compared with the actual infection and so used to assess the importance of other factors in determining the incidence of eyespot. High spring rainfall, early sowing and a dense plant increased incidence and low spring rainfall, late sowing and a thin plant reduced it.
Eyespot was not usually severe on newly ploughed grassland until the third or fourth crop of wheat, but under very wet conditions it was sometimes severe in the second crop.
Oats is much less susceptible than wheat or barley, but some crops were found with a third of their straws infected.
A brief survey of winter wheat in Holland suggested possible causes for the rise and fall of eyespot in recent years and for its present lower incidence there as compared with East Anglia.  相似文献

The thermal decomposition characteristics of four types (wheat, barley, oats and rye) of cereal straws were studied. Two varieties from each type of straw were used. The thermal degradation behaviours and kinetic parameters (order of reaction, activation energy and preexponential factor) of the straws were compared. Two distinct reaction zones were observed for all types and varieties of straws. Thermal degradation rates in the first reaction zone were significantly higher than those in the second reaction zone. The activation energy was in the ranges of 80–102 kJ/mol and 34–75 kJ/mol, whereas the order of reaction was in the ranges of 1·3–2·3 and 0·1–0·7 for the first and second reaction zones, respectively. The Shaw variety of oats straw had the highest activation energies (102 and 75 kJ/mol) and reaction orders (2·3 and 0·7) in both the first and second reaction zones, respectively. The lowest activation energy (80 kJ/mol) and order of reaction (1·3), in the first reaction zone, corresponded to Absolvant and Monopol wheat straws. The activation energies and reaction orders of barley and rye straws were in the ranges of 85–94 kJ/mol and 1·9–2·3, respectively. There was not any significant difference between the rate constants of the straw varieties, in the first reaction zone. However, oats straws had significantly higher rate constants in the second reaction zone as compared to the rate constants of wheat, barley and rye straws.  相似文献

Several gene linkage maps have been produced for cultivated barley. We have produced a new linkage map for barley, based on a cross between Hordeum vulgare subsp. spontaneum and Hordeum vulgare subsp. vulgare (Hvs x Hvv), having a higher level of polymorphism than most of the previous barley crosses used for RFLP mapping. Of 133 markers mapped in the Hvs x Hvv F2 population, 69 were previously mapped on other barley maps, and 26 were mapped in rice, maize, or wheat. Two known gene clones were mapped as well as two morphological markers. The distributions of previously mapped markers were compared with their respective barley maps to align the different maps into one consensus map. The distributions of common markers among barley, wheat, rice and maize were also compared, indicating colinear linkage groups among these species.To be considered dual first authorsPublished with the approval of the Director of the Colorado State University/Agricultural Experiment Station.  相似文献

Wheat, barley and oat straws were treated by steam explosion (SE) and then washed with 50g/l NaOH solution. The SE treatment was optimized at batch scale on the basis of carbohydrate recovery. Stocks of fodder (300kg) were produced at 198 degrees C for 2.5min by a continuous reactor and used for in vivo digestibility tests carried out on sheep. The flow-sheet and the mass balances were obtained for the entire process. For the three straws, the water consumption has been 7.3kg/kg of straw. To delignify and improve the digestibility of the straws, 20g of NaOH/kg straw was used. The yield of fodder, lignin and hemicellulose is dependant on the nature of the starting straw. Delignified fodder (insoluble fraction) can be produced with a yield of 0.64, 0.59, 0.55, respectively, from wheat, barley and oat straw. SE improved the digestibility of the straw by 25%; alkaline washing further increased it by 9%. Balanced rations containing, on a DM basis, 1/4 of treated straw, had digestibility coefficients similar to those of commercial rations based on alfalfa.  相似文献

The influence of operational variables in the pulping of vine shoots by use of ethylene glycol [viz. temperature (155-185 degrees C), cooking time (30-90 min) and ethylene glycol concentration (50-70% v/v)] on the properties of the resulting pulp (viz. yield, kappa number and viscosity) and paper sheets (breaking length, stretch, burst index, tear index and brightness) was studied. A central composite factorial design was used in conjunction with the software ANFIS Edit Matlab 6.5 to develop fuzzy neural model that reproduced the experimental results of the dependent variables with errors less than 5%. Crude enzymes produced by different strains were used in the production of bleached wheat straw pulp. Pre-treatment with enzymes from Penicillium A10 and Aspergillus L22 at a xylanase dosage of 4 IU/g prior to pulping decreased pulp kappa number by 6.29% and 12.07% respectively as compared to the control. High cellulase activity in crude enzymes has a negative influence on pulping. Xylanase pre-bleaching reduced chlorine charge by 20-30%, or increased final brightness by approximately 4-5% ISO, and improved the pulp strength properties. Xylanase could substitute for alkali extraction in CEH sequence, and be used for treating chemical-bleached pulp, which resulted in higher strength properties for bleached pulp. Modification of bleached pulp with enzymes of 3 IU/g (on xylanase) increased pulp brightness and breaking length by 3-6% ISO and 160-790 m respectively, and decreased post color number and beating degree of pulp by 29-36% and 2.5-5.5 degrees SR respectively, as compared to the original pulp.  相似文献

Rice is efficient at arsenic (As) accumulation, thus posing a potential health risk to humans and animals. Arsenic bioavailability in submerged paddy soil is enhanced due to mobilisation of arsenite, but rice may also have an inherently greater ability to take up and translocate arsenite than other cereal crops. To test this hypothesis, rice, wheat and barley were exposed to 5 µM arsenate or arsenite for 24 h. Arsenic uptake and distribution, and As speciation in the xylem sap and nutrient solution were determined. Regardless of the As form supplied to plants, rice accumulated more As in the shoots than wheat or barley. Arsenite uptake by rice was double of that by wheat or barley, whereas arsenate uptake was similar between rice and wheat and approximately a third smaller in barley. The efficiency of As translocation from roots to shoots was greater when plants were supplied with arsenite than with arsenate, and in both treatments rice showed the highest translocation efficiency. Arsenite was the main species of As (86–97%) in the xylem sap from arsenite-treated plants of all three species. In the arsenate-treated plants, 84%, 45% and 63% of As in the xylem sap of rice, wheat and barley, respectively, was arsenite. Arsenite efflux to the external medium was also observed in all three plant species exposed to arsenate. The results show that rice is more efficient than wheat or barley in arsenite uptake and translocation, probably through the highly efficient pathway for silicon.  相似文献

This paper investigates spent litter from deep litter piggery housing as a potential substrate for farm-scale anaerobic digestion. Degradability and degradation rates were evaluated under mesophilic conditions for unused, lightly soiled (used by weaner/small pigs), and heavily soiled (used by finishing/large pigs) wheat straw, barley straw, and rice husks bedding. Apparent first order hydrolysis rate coefficients varied, but were comparable across all samples analysed (<0.1 day?1). Spent wheat straw was generally more degradable (approximately 60%) than spent barley straw, while spent barley straw was comparable to raw straw (40–50%), but with higher hydrolysis rates, indicating better accessibility. Rice husks were relatively poorly degradable (<20%), but degradability was improved by weathering in a pig shed. Digestion of spent barley and wheat straw litter was significantly faster (approximately twice the rate) at low (8% solids) than high (14% solids) solids loading. Rice husks degradation kinetics were not significantly influenced by solids concentration. Intrinsic methanogenic activity of heavily soiled spent wheat straw and rice husks bedding was initially poor, but achieved full activity after 40–60 days, indicating that reactor operation without external inoculum may be possible with care.  相似文献

The effect of hot-water extraction on alkaline pulping was investigated. The properties of black liquor and pulp strength of bagasse were analyzed. The extraction was conducted at 160 °C for 30 min where 13.2% of the mass was dissolved in the extraction liquor. Untreated bagasse and extracted bagasse were digested by soda and soda-AQ processes at 17% and 15.5% (with 0.1% AQ) alkali charge (NaOH). Cooking temperatures were 160 °C and 155 °C respectively. The pulp from extracted bagasse had a lower Kappa number and a higher viscosity compared to the pulp from the untreated bagasse. The black liquor from pulping extracted bagasse had a lower solid content, a lower viscosity and a lower silica content, but a higher heating value than that from pulping of untreated bagasse. Hot-water extraction resulted in a significant decrease in bleaching chemical consumption and the formation of chlorinated organics. Pulp strength properties such as the tensile index and the burst index were found to be lower, but the tear index, bulk, opacity and pulp freeness were found to be higher when hot-water extraction was applied.  相似文献

The yield of wheat and the incidence of take-all were measured in crops grown in six different 4-year sequences, repeated in 3 successive years. The first crop of winter wheat grown after oats or beans yielded 13–23 cwt/acre (1632–2887 kg/ha) more grain than wheat after wheat or barley. Spring wheat after oats yielded 2–5 cwt/acre (250–625 kg/ha) more than spring wheat after wheat. The smaller yields of wheat after wheat or barley were caused mostly by greater prevalence of take-all. Regression analysis indicates that each 1 % increase in straws with take-all decreased yield of winter wheat by 0·6%. Take-all was more prevalent in the second and third successive wheat crops after oats than in the fourth crop.  相似文献

In this work, published experimental result data of the pulping of tagasaste (Chamaecytisus proliferus L.F.) with soda and anthraquinone (AQ) have been used to develop a model using a neural network. The paper presents the development of a model with a neural network to predict the effects that the operational variables of the pulping reactor (temperature, soda concentration, AQ concentration, time and liquid/solid ratio) have on the properties of the paper sheets of the obtained pulp (brightness, traction index, burst index and tear index). Using a factorial experimental design, the results obtained with the neural network model are compared with those obtained from a polynomial model. The neural network model shows a higher prediction precision that the polynomial model.  相似文献
