| Abstract: | The variation of development rates among individuals in a population is one of the basic characteristics of insect development.This paper oriefly reviews some of the approaches to the modelling of distributions of insect development time, introduces the "same-shape property"conccpt first put forward by Sharpe et al.(1977), and then presents a case study in utilizing the same-shape property to simulate the distributions of insect development time, using data obtained with Myzus persicae and Lipaphis erysimi. The results showed that this simple method is suitable for the prediction and simulation of population development under natural temperature conditions. |
